اِ۬لْقَارِعَةُ مَا اَ۬لْقَارِعَةُۖ ﰀ

Alqâri‘atu mâ lqâri‘ah

Le fracas Qu'est-ce que le fracas

The Striking Calamity What is the Striking Calamity

وَمَآ أَدْر۪يٰكَ مَا اَ۬لْقَارِعَةُۖ ﰁ

Wamâ adrêka mâ lqâri‘ah

Et qui te dira ce qu'est le fracas

And what can make you know what is the Striking Calamity

يَوْمَ يَكُونُ اُ۬لنَّاسُ كَالْفَرَاشِ اِ۬لْمَبْثُوثِ ﰂ

Yawma yakûnu nnâsu kalfarâshi lmabthûth

C'est le jour où les gens seront comme des papillons éparpillés

It is the Day when people will be like moths, dispersed

وَتَكُونُ اُ۬لْجِبَالُ كَالْعِهْنِ اِ۬لْمَنفُوشِۖ ﰃ

Watakûnu ljibâlu kal‘ihni lmanfûsh

et les montagnes comme de la laine cardée

And the mountains will be like wool, fluffed up

فَأَمَّا مَن ثَقُلَتْ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ ﰄ

Fa'ammâ man thaqulat mawâzînuhû

quant à celui dont la balance sera lourde

Then as for one whose scales are heavy [with good deeds]

فَهُوَ فِے عِيشَةٖ رَّاضِيَةٖۖ ﰅ

Fahuwa fî ‘îshatir râdiyah

il sera dans une vie agréable

He will be in a pleasant life

وَأَمَّا مَنْ خَفَّتْ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ ﰆ

Wa'ammâ man khaffat mawâzînuhû

et quant à celui dont la balance sera légère

But as for one whose scales are light

فَأُمُّهُۥ هَاوِيَةٞۖ ﰇ

Fa'ummuhû hâwiyah

sa mère [destination] est un abîme très profond

His refuge will be an abyss

وَمَآ أَدْر۪يٰكَ مَا هِيَهْۖ ﰈ

Wamâ adrêka mâ hiyah

Et qui te dira ce que c'est

And what can make you know what that is

نَارٌ حَامِيَةٌۖ ﰉ

Nârun hâmiyah

C'est un Feu ardent

It is a Fire, intensely hot
