طَسِٓۖ تِلْكَ ءَايَٰتُ اُ۬لْقُرْءَانِ وَكِتَابٖ مُّبِينٍۖ ﰀ

Tâ sîn tilka âyâtu lqur'âni wakitâbim mubîn

T'â, Sîn. Voici les versets du Coran et d'un Livre explicite

Ta, Seen. These are the verses of the Qur'an and a clear Book

هُدىٗ وَبُشْر۪ىٰ لِلْمُومِنِينَ ﰁ

Hudan wabushrê lilmûminîn

un guide et une bonne annonce aux croyants

As guidance and good tidings for the believers

اَ۬لذِينَ يُقِيمُونَ اَ۬لصَّلَوٰةَ وَيُوتُونَ اَ۬لزَّكَوٰةَ وَهُم بِالَاخِرَةِ هُمْ يُوقِنُونَۖ ﰂ

Alladhîna yuqîmûna ssalawâta wayûtûna zzakawâta wahum bilakhirati hum yûqinûn

qui accomplissent la Salât, acquittent la Zakât et croient avec certitude en l'au-delà

Who establish prayer and give zakah, and of the Hereafter they are certain [in faith]

إِنَّ اَ۬لذِينَ لَا يُومِنُونَ بِالَاخِرَةِ زَيَّنَّا لَهُمُۥٓ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ فَهُمْ يَعْمَهُونَۖ ﰃ

Inna lladhîna lâ yûminûna bilakhirati zayyannâ lahumû a‘mâlahum fahum ya‘mahûn

Quant à ceux qui ne croient pas en l'au-delà, Nous embellissons [à leurs yeux] leurs actions, et alors ils deviennent confus et hésitants

Indeed, for those who do not believe in the Hereafter, We have made pleasing to them their deeds, so they wander blindly

أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ اَ۬لذِينَ لَهُمْ سُوٓءُ اُ۬لْعَذَابِ وَهُمْ فِے اِ۬لَاخِرَةِ هُمُ اُ۬لَاخْسَرُونَۖ ﰄ

Ulâ'ika lladhîna lahum sû'u l‘adhâbi wahum fî lakhirati humu lakhsarûn

Ce sont eux qui subiront le pire châtiment, tandis qu'ils seront dans l'au-delà les plus grands perdants

Those are the ones for whom there will be the worst of punishment, and in the Hereafter they are the greatest losers

۞ وَإِنَّكَ لَتُلَقَّى اَ۬لْقُرْءَانَ مِن لَّدُنْ حَكِيمٍ عَلِيمٍۖ ﰅ

Wa'innaka latulaqqâ lqur'âna mil ladun hakîmin ‘alîm

Certes, c'est toi qui reçois le Coran, de la part d'un Sage, d'un Savant

And indeed, [O Muhammad], you receive the Qur'an from one Wise and Knowing

اِذْ قَالَ مُوس۪ىٰ لِأَهْلِهِۦٓ إِنِّيَ ءَانَسْتُ نَاراٗ سَـَٔاتِيكُم مِّنْهَا بِخَبَرٍ اَوَ اٰتِيكُم بِشِهَابِ قَبَسٖ لَّعَلَّكُمْ تَصْطَلُونَۖ ﰆ

Idh qâla mûsê li'ahlihî inniya ânastu nâran sa'âtîkum minhâ bikhabarina wa âtîkum bishihâbi qabasil la‘allakum tastalûn

(Rappelle) quand Moïse dit à sa famille: «J'ai aperçu un feu; je vais vous en apporter des nouvelles, ou bien je vous apporterai un tison allumé afin que vous vous réchauffiez»

[Mention] when Moses said to his family, "Indeed, I have perceived a fire. I will bring you from there information or will bring you a burning torch that you may warm yourselves

فَلَمَّا جَآءَهَا نُودِيَ أَنۢ بُورِكَ مَن فِے اِ۬لنّ۪ارِ وَمَنْ حَوْلَهَاۖ وَسُبْحَٰنَ اَ۬للَّهِ رَبِّ اِ۬لْعَٰلَمِينَۖ ﰇ

Falammâ jâ'ahâ nûdiya am bûrika man fî nnêri waman hawlahâ wasubhâna llâhi rabbi l‘âlamîn

Lorsqu'il y arriva, on l'appela, - béni soit Celui qui est dans le feu et Celui qui est tout autour, et gloire à Allah, Seigneur de l'univers

But when he came to it, he was called, "Blessed is whoever is at the fire and whoever is around it. And exalted is Allah, Lord of the worlds

يَٰمُوس۪ىٰٓ إِنَّهُۥٓ أَنَا اَ۬للَّهُ اُ۬لْعَزِيزُ اُ۬لْحَكِيمُ ﰈ

Yâmûsê innahû anâ llâhu l‘azîzu lhakîm

«O Moïse, c'est Moi, Allah le Tout Puissant, le Sage»

O Moses, indeed it is I - Allah, the Exalted in Might, the Wise

وَأَلْقِ عَصَاكَۖ فَلَمَّا ر۪ء۪اهَا تَهْتَزُّ كَأَنَّهَا جَآنّٞ وَلّ۪ىٰ مُدْبِراٗ وَلَمْ يُعَقِّبْۖ يَٰمُوس۪ىٰ لَا تَخَفِۖ اِنِّے لَا يَخَافُ لَدَيَّ اَ۬لْمُرْسَلُونَۖ ﰉ

Wa'alqi ‘asâka falammâ re'êhâ tahtazzu ka'annahâ jânnun wallê mudbiran walam yu‘aqqib yâmûsê lâ takhafi nnî lâ yakhâfu ladayya lmursalûn

Et: «Jette ton bâton». Quand il le vit remuer comme un serpent, il tourna le dos [pour fuir] sans revenir sur ses pas. «N'aie pas peur, Moïse. Les Messagers n'ont point peur auprès de Moi

And [he was told], "Throw down your staff." But when he saw it writhing as if it were a snake, he turned in flight and did not return. [Allah said], "O Moses, fear not. Indeed, in My presence the messengers do not fear

إِلَّا مَن ظَلَمَ ثُمَّ بَدَّلَ حُسْناَۢ بَعْدَ سُوٓءٖ فَإِنِّے غَفُورٞ رَّحِيمٞۖ ﰊ

Illâ man zalama thumma baddala husnam ba‘da sû'in fa'innî ghafûrur rahîm

Sauf celui qui a commis une injustice puis a remplacé le mal par le bien... alors Je suis Pardonneur et Miséricordieux»

Otherwise, he who wrongs, then substitutes good after evil - indeed, I am Forgiving and Merciful

وَأَدْخِلْ يَدَكَ فِے جَيْبِكَ تَخْرُجْ بَيْضَآءَ مِنْ غَيْرِ سُوٓءٖۖ فِے تِسْعِ ءَايَٰتٍ اِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ وَقَوْمِهِۦٓۖ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُواْ قَوْماٗ فَٰسِقِينَۖ ﰋ

Wa'adkhil yadaka fî jaybika takhruj baydâ'a min ghayri sû'in fî tis‘i âyâtini lâ fir‘awna waqawmihî innahum kânû qawman fâsiqîn

Et introduis ta main dans l'ouverture de ta tunique. Elle sortira blanche et sans aucun mal - un des neuf prodiges à Pharaon et à son peuple, car ils sont vraiment des gens pervers»

And put your hand into the opening of your garment [at the breast]; it will come out white without disease. [These are] among the nine signs [you will take] to Pharaoh and his people. Indeed, they have been a people defiantly disobedient

فَلَمَّا جَآءَتْهُمُۥٓ ءَايَٰتُنَا مُبْصِرَةٗ قَالُواْ هَٰذَا سِحْرٞ مُّبِينٞۖ ﰌ

Falammâ jâ'athumû âyâtunâ mubsiratan qâlû hâdhâ sihrum mubîn

Et lorsque Nos prodiges leur parvinrent, clairs et explicites, ils dirent: «C'est là une magie évidente!»

But when there came to them Our visible signs, they said, "This is obvious magic

وَجَحَدُواْ بِهَا وَاسْتَيْقَنَتْهَآ أَنفُسُهُمْ ظُلْماٗ وَعُلُوّاٗۖ فَانظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ اُ۬لْمُفْسِدِينَۖ ﰍ

Wajahadû bihâ wastayqanathâ anfusuhum zulman wa‘uluwwan fânzur kayfa kâna ‘âqibatu lmufsidîn

Ils les nièrent injustement et orgueilleusement, tandis qu'en eux-mêmes ils y croyaient avec certitude. Regarde donc ce qu'il est advenu des corrupteurs

And they rejected them, while their [inner] selves were convinced thereof, out of injustice and haughtiness. So see how was the end of the corrupters

وَلَقَدَ اٰتَيْنَا دَاوُۥدَ وَسُلَيْمَٰنَ عِلْماٗ وَقَالَا اَ۬لْحَمْدُ لِلهِ اِ۬لذِے فَضَّلَنَا عَلَىٰ كَثِيرٖ مِّنْ عِبَادِهِ اِ۬لْمُومِنِينَۖ ﰎ

Walaqada âtaynâ dâwûda wasulaymâna ‘ilman waqâla lhamdu lillâhi lladhî faddalanâ ‘alâ kathîrim min ‘ibâdihi lmûminîn

Nous avons effectivement donné à David et à Salomon une science; et ils dirent: «Louange à Allah qui nous a favorisés à beaucoup de Ses serviteurs croyants»

And We had certainly given to David and Solomon knowledge, and they said, "Praise [is due] to Allah, who has favored us over many of His believing servants

وَوَرِثَ سُلَيْمَٰنُ دَاوُۥدَ وَقَالَ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا اَ۬لنَّاسُ عُلِّمْنَا مَنطِقَ اَ۬لطَّيْرِ وَأُوتِينَا مِن كُلِّ شَےْءٍۖ اِنَّ هَٰذَا لَهُوَ اَ۬لْفَضْلُ اُ۬لْمُبِينُۖ ﰏ

Wawaritha sulaymânu dâwûda waqâla yâ'ayyuhâ nnâsu ‘ullimnâ mantiqa ttayri wa'ûtînâ min kulli shay'ini nna hâdhâ lahuwa lfadlu lmubîn

Et Salomon hérita de David et dit: «O hommes! On nous a appris le langage des oiseaux; et on nous a donné part de toutes choses. C'est là vraiment la grâce évidente

And Solomon inherited David. He said, "O people, we have been taught the language of birds, and we have been given from all things. Indeed, this is evident bounty

۞ وَحُشِرَ لِسُلَيْمَٰنَ جُنُودُهُۥ مِنَ اَ۬لْجِنِّ وَالِانسِ وَالطَّيْرِ فَهُمْ يُوزَعُونَۖ ﰐ

Wahushira lisulaymâna junûduhû mina ljinni walinsi wattayri fahum yûza‘ûn

Et furent rassemblées pour Salomon, ses armées de djinns, d'hommes et d'oiseaux, et furent placées en rangs

And gathered for Solomon were his soldiers of the jinn and men and birds, and they were [marching] in rows

حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَآ أَتَوْاْ عَلَىٰ وَادِ اِ۬لنَّمْلِ قَالَتْ نَمْلَةٞ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا اَ۬لنَّمْلُ اُ۟دْخُلُواْ مَسَٰكِنَكُمْ لَا يَحْطِمَنَّكُمْ سُلَيْمَٰنُ وَجُنُودُهُۥ وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَۖ ﰑ

Hattâ idhâ ataw ‘alâ wâdi nnamli qâlat namlatun yâ'ayyuhâ nnamlu dkhulû masâkinakum lâ yahtimannakum sulaymânu wajunûduhû wahum lâ yash‘urûn

Quand ils arrivèrent à la Vallée des Fourmis, une fourmi dit: «O fourmis, entrez dans vos demeures, [de peur] que Salomon et ses armées ne vous écrasent [sous leurs pieds] sans s'en rendre compte»

Until, when they came upon the valley of the ants, an ant said, "O ants, enter your dwellings that you not be crushed by Solomon and his soldiers while they perceive not

فَتَبَسَّمَ ضَاحِكاٗ مِّن قَوْلِهَا وَقَالَ رَبِّ أَوْزِعْنِيَ أَنَ اَشْكُرَ نِعْمَتَكَ اَ۬لتِےٓ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيَّ وَعَلَىٰ وَٰلِدَيَّ وَأَنَ اَعْمَلَ صَٰلِحاٗ تَرْض۪يٰهُ وَأَدْخِلْنِے بِرَحْمَتِكَ فِے عِبَادِكَ اَ۬لصَّٰلِحِينَۖ ﰒ

Fatabassama dâhikam min qawlihâ waqâla rabbi awzi‘niya ana shkura ni‘mataka llatî an‘amta ‘alayya wa‘alâ wâlidayya wa'ana ‘mala sâlihan tardêhu wa'adkhilnî birahmatika fî ‘ibâdika ssâlihîn

Il sourit, amusé par ses propos et dit: «Permets-moi Seigneur, de rendre grâce pour le bienfait dont Tu m'as comblé ainsi que mes père et mère, et que je fasse une bonne œuvre que tu agrées et fais-moi entrer, par Ta miséricorde, parmi Tes serviteurs vertueux»

So [Solomon] smiled, amused at her speech, and said, "My Lord, enable me to be grateful for Your favor which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents and to do righteousness of which You approve. And admit me by Your mercy into [the ranks of] Your righteous servants

وَتَفَقَّدَ اَ۬لطَّيْرَ فَقَالَ مَالِے لَآ أَرَى اَ۬لْهُدْهُدَ أَمْ كَانَ مِنَ اَ۬لْغَآئِبِينَۖ ﰓ

Watafaqqada ttayra faqâla mâlî lâ arâ lhudhuda am kâna mina lghâ'ibîn

Puis il passa en revue les oiseaux et dit: «Pourquoi ne vois-je pas la huppe? est-elle parmi les absents

And he took attendance of the birds and said, "Why do I not see the hoopoe - or is he among the absent

لَأُعَذِّبَنَّهُۥ عَذَاباٗ شَدِيداً اَوْ لَأَاْذْبَحَنَّهُۥٓ أَوْ لَيَاتِيَنِّے بِسُلْطَٰنٖ مُّبِينٖۖ ﰔ

La'u‘adhdhibannahû ‘adhâban shadîdana w la'adhbahannahû aw layâtiyannî bisultânim mubîn

Je la châtierai sévèrement! ou je l'égorgerai! ou bien elle m'apportera un argument explicite»

I will surely punish him with a severe punishment or slaughter him unless he brings me clear authorization

فَمَكُثَ غَيْرَ بَعِيدٖۖ فَقَالَ أَحَطْتُّ بِمَا لَمْ تُحِطْ بِهِۦ وَجِئْتُكَ مِن سَبَإِۢ بِنَبَإٖ يَقِينٍۖ ﰕ

Famakutha ghayra ba‘îdin faqâla ahattu bimâ lam tuhit bihî wajî'tuka min saba'im binaba'in yaqîn

Mais elle n'était restée (absente) que peu de temps et dit: «J'ai appris ce que tu n'as point appris; et je te rapporte de Saba' une nouvelle sûre

But the hoopoe stayed not long and said, "I have encompassed [in knowledge] that which you have not encompassed, and I have come to you from Sheba with certain news

اِنِّے وَجَدتُّ اُ۪مْرَأَةٗ تَمْلِكُهُمْ وَأُوتِيَتْ مِن كُلِّ شَےْءٖۖ وَلَهَا عَرْشٌ عَظِيمٞۖ ﰖ

Innî wajadttu mra'atan tamlikuhum wa'ûtiyat min kulli shay'in walahâ ‘arshun ‘azîm

J'ai trouvé qu'une femme est leur reine, que de toute chose elle a été comblée et qu'elle a un trône magnifique

Indeed, I found [there] a woman ruling them, and she has been given of all things, and she has a great throne

وَجَدتُّهَا وَقَوْمَهَا يَسْجُدُونَ لِلشَّمْسِ مِن دُونِ اِ۬للَّهِ وَزَيَّنَ لَهُمُ اُ۬لشَّيْطَٰنُ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ فَصَدَّهُمْ عَنِ اِ۬لسَّبِيلِ فَهُمْ لَا يَهْتَدُونَ ﰗ

Wajadttuhâ waqawmahâ yasjudûna lishshamsi min dûni llâhi wazayyana lahumu shshaytânu a‘mâlahum fasaddahum ‘ani ssabîli fahum lâ yahtadûn

Je l'ai trouvée, elle et son peuple, se prosternant devant le soleil au lieu d'Allah. Le Diable leur a embelli leurs actions, et les a détournés du droit chemin, et ils ne sont pas bien guidés

I found her and her people prostrating to the sun instead of Allah, and Satan has made their deeds pleasing to them and averted them from [His] way, so they are not guided

أَلَّا يَسْجُدُواْ لِلهِ اِ۬لذِے يُخْرِجُ اُ۬لْخَبْءَ فِے اِ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالَارْضِ وَيَعْلَمُ مَا يُخْفُونَ وَمَا يُعْلِنُونَۖ ﰘ

Allâ yasjudû lillâhi lladhî yukhriju lkhab'a fî ssamâwâti walardi waya‘lamu mâ yukhfûna wamâ yu‘linûn

Que ne se prosternent-ils devant Allah qui fait sortir ce qui est caché dans les cieux et la terre, et qui sait ce que vous cachez et aussi ce que vous divulguez

[And] so they do not prostrate to Allah, who brings forth what is hidden within the heavens and the earth and knows what you conceal and what you declare

اَ۬للَّهُ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ رَبُّ اُ۬لْعَرْشِ اِ۬لْعَظِيمِۖ۩ ﰙ

Allâhu lâ ilâha illâ huwa rabbu l‘arshi l‘azîm

Allah! Point de divinité à part Lui, le Seigneur du Trône Immense

Allah - there is no deity except Him, Lord of the Great Throne

۞ قَالَ سَنَنظُرُ أَصَدَقْتَ أَمْ كُنتَ مِنَ اَ۬لْكَٰذِبِينَۖ ﰚ

Qâla sananzuru asadaqta am kunta mina lkâdhibîn

Alors, Salomon dit: «Nous allons voir si tu as dis la vérité ou si tu as menti

[Solomon] said, "We will see whether you were truthful or were of the liars

اَ۪ذْهَب بِّكِتَٰبِے هَٰذَا فَأَلْقِهِۦٓ إِلَيْهِمْ ثُمَّ تَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ فَانظُرْ مَاذَا يَرْجِعُونَۖ ﰛ

Adhhab bikitâbî hâdhâ fa'alqihî ilayhim thumma tawalla ‘anhum fânzur mâdhâ yarji‘ûn

Pars avec ma lettre que voici; puis lance-la à eux; ensuite tiens-toi à l'écart d'eux pour voir ce que sera leur réponse

Take this letter of mine and deliver it to them. Then leave them and see what [answer] they will return

قَالَتْ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا اَ۬لْمَلَؤُاْ اِ۪نِّيَ أُلْقِيَ إِلَيَّ كِتَٰبٞ كَرِيمٌ ﰜ

Qâlat yâ'ayyuhâ lmala'u nniya ulqiya ilayya kitâbun karîm

La reine dit: «O notables! Une noble lettre m'a été lancée

She said, "O eminent ones, indeed, to me has been delivered a noble letter

اِنَّهُۥ مِن سُلَيْمَٰنَ وَإِنَّهُۥ بِسْمِ اِ۬للَّهِ اِ۬لرَّحْمَٰنِ اِ۬لرَّحِيمِ ﰝ

Innahû min sulaymâna wa'innahû bismi llâhi rrahmâni rrahîm

Elle vient de Salomon; et c'est: «Au nom d'Allah, le Tout Miséricordieux, le Très Miséricordieux

Indeed, it is from Solomon, and indeed, it reads: 'In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful

أَلَّا تَعْلُواْ عَلَيَّ وَاتُونِے مُسْلِمِينَۖ ﰞ

Allâ ta‘lû ‘alayya wâtûnî muslimîn

Ne soyez pas hautains avec moi et venez à moi en toute soumission»

Be not haughty with me but come to me in submission [as Muslims]

قَالَتْ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا اَ۬لْمَلَؤُاْ اَ۬فْتُونِے فِےٓ أَمْرِے مَا كُنتُ قَاطِعَةً اَمْراً حَتَّىٰ تَشْهَدُونِۖ ﰟ

Qâlat yâ'ayyuhâ lmala'u ftûnî fî amrî mâ kuntu qâti‘atana mran hattâ tashhadûn

Elle dit: «O notables! Conseillez-moi sur cette affaire: je ne déciderai rien sans que vous ne soyez présents (pour me conseiller)»

She said, "O eminent ones, advise me in my affair. I would not decide a matter until you witness [for] me

قَالُواْ نَحْنُ أُوْلُواْ قُوَّةٖ وَأُوْلُواْ بَأْسٖ شَدِيدٖ ﰠ

Qâlû nahnu ulû quwwatin wa'ulû ba'sin shadîd

Ils dirent: «Nous sommes détenteurs d'une force et d'une puissance redoutable. Le commandement cependant t'appartient. Regarde donc ce que tu veux ordonner»

They said, "We are men of strength and of great military might, but the command is yours, so see what you will command

وَالَامْرُ إِلَيْكِ فَانظُرِے مَاذَا تَامُرِينَۖ ﰡ

Walamru ilayki fânzurî mâdhâ tâmurîn

قَالَتِ اِنَّ اَ۬لْمُلُوكَ إِذَا دَخَلُواْ قَرْيَةً اَفْسَدُوهَا وَجَعَلُوٓاْ أَعِزَّةَ أَهْلِهَآ أَذِلَّةٗۖ وَكَذَٰلِكَ يَفْعَلُونَۖ ﰢ

Qâlati nna lmulûka idhâ dakhalû qaryatana fsadûhâ waja‘alû a‘izzata ahlihâ adhillatan wakadhâlika yaf‘alûn

Elle dit: «En vérité, quand les rois entrent dans une cité ils la corrompent, et font de ses honorables citoyens des humiliés. Et c'est ainsi qu'ils agissent

She said, "Indeed kings - when they enter a city, they ruin it and render the honored of its people humbled. And thus do they do

وَإِنِّے مُرْسِلَةٌ اِلَيْهِم بِهَدِيَّةٖ فَنَٰظِرَةُۢ بِمَ يَرْجِعُ اُ۬لْمُرْسَلُونَۖ ﰣ

Wa'innî mursilatuni layhim bihadiyyatin fanâziratum bima yarji‘u lmursalûn

Moi, je vais leur envoyer un présent, puis je verrai ce que les envoyés ramèneront»

But indeed, I will send to them a gift and see with what [reply] the messengers will return

فَلَمَّا جَآءَ سُلَيْمَٰنَ قَالَ أَتُمِدُّونَنِۦ بِمَالٖ فَمَآ ءَات۪يٰنِۦَ اَ۬للَّهُ خَيْرٞ مِّمَّآ ءَات۪يٰكُم بَلَ اَنتُم بِهَدِيَّتِكُمْ تَفْرَحُونَۖ ﰤ

Falammâ jâ'a sulaymâna qâla atumiddûnanî bimâlin famâ âtêna llâhu khayrum mimmâ âtêkum bala ntum bihadiyyatikum tafrahûn

Puis, lorsque [la délégation] arriva auprès de Salomon, celui-ci dit: «Est-ce avec des biens que vous voulez m'aider? alors que ce qu'Allah m'a procuré est meilleur que ce qu'Il vous a procuré. Mais c'est vous plutôt qui vous réjouissez de votre cadeau

So when they came to Solomon, he said, "Do you provide me with wealth? But what Allah has given me is better than what He has given you. Rather, it is you who rejoice in your gift

اَ۪رْجِعِ اِلَيْهِمْ فَلَنَاتِيَنَّهُم بِجُنُودٖ لَّا قِبَلَ لَهُم بِهَا وَلَنُخْرِجَنَّهُم مِّنْهَآ أَذِلَّةٗ وَهُمْ صَٰغِرُونَۖ ﰥ

Arji‘i layhim falanâtiyannahum bijunûdil lâ qibala lahum bihâ walanukhrijannahum minhâ adhillatan wahum sâghirûn

Retourne vers eux. Nous viendrons avec des armées contre lesquelles ils n'auront aucune résistance, et nous les en expulserons tout humiliés et méprisés

Return to them, for we will surely come to them with soldiers that they will be powerless to encounter, and we will surely expel them therefrom in humiliation, and they will be debased

قَالَ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا اَ۬لْمَلَؤُاْ اَ۬يُّكُمْ يَاتِينِے بِعَرْشِهَا قَبْلَ أَنْ يَّاتُونِے مُسْلِمِينَۖ ﰦ

Qâla yâ'ayyuhâ lmala'u yyukum yâtînî bi‘arshihâ qabla ay yâtûnî muslimîn

Il dit: «O notables! Qui de vous m'apportera son trône avant qu'ils ne viennent à moi soumis?»

[Solomon] said, "O assembly [of jinn], which of you will bring me her throne before they come to me in submission

قَالَ عِفْرِيتٞ مِّنَ اَ۬لْجِنِّ أَنَآ ءَاتِيكَ بِهِۦ قَبْلَ أَن تَقُومَ مِن مَّقَامِكَ وَإِنِّے عَلَيْهِ لَقَوِيٌّ اَمِينٞۖ ﰧ

Qâla ‘ifrîtum mina ljinni anâ âtîka bihî qabla an taqûma mim maqâmika wa'innî ‘alayhi laqawiyyuna mîn

Un djinn redoutable dit: «Je te l'apporterai avant que tu ne te lèves de ta place: pour cela, je suis fort et digne de confiance»

A powerful one from among the jinn said, "I will bring it to you before you rise from your place, and indeed, I am for this [task] strong and trustworthy

قَالَ اَ۬لذِے عِندَهُۥ عِلْمٞ مِّنَ اَ۬لْكِتَٰبِ أَنَآ ءَاتِيكَ بِهِۦ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَّرْتَدَّ إِلَيْكَ طَرْفُكَۖ فَلَمَّا ر۪ء۪اهُ مُسْتَقِرّاً عِندَهُۥ قَالَ هَٰذَا مِن فَضْلِ رَبِّے لِيَبْلُوَنِيَ ءَآشْكُرُ أَمَ اَكْفُرُۖ وَمَن شَكَرَ فَإِنَّمَا يَشْكُرُ لِنَفْسِهِۦۖ وَمَن كَفَرَ فَإِنَّ رَبِّے غَنِيّٞ كَرِيمٞۖ ﰨ

Qâla lladhî ‘indahû ‘ilmum mina lkitâbi anâ âtîka bihî qabla ay yartadda ilayka tarfuka falammâ re'êhu mustaqirran ‘indahû qâla hâdhâ min fadli rabbî liyabluwaniya âshkuru ama kfuru waman shakara fa'innamâ yashkuru linafsihî waman kafara fa'inna rabbî ghaniyyun karîm

Quelqu'un qui avait une connaissance du Livre dit: «Je te l'apporterai avant que tu n'aies cligné de l'œil». Quand ensuite, Salomon a vu le trône installé auprès de lui, il dit: «Cela est de la grâce de mon Seigneur, pour m'éprouver si je suis reconnaissant ou si je suis ingrat. Quiconque est reconnaissant c'est dans son propre intérêt qu'il le fait, et quiconque est ingrat... alors mon Seigneur Se suffit à Lui-même et Il est Généreux»

Said one who had knowledge from the Scripture, "I will bring it to you before your glance returns to you." And when [Solomon] saw it placed before him, he said, "This is from the favor of my Lord to test me whether I will be grateful or ungrateful. And whoever is grateful - his gratitude is only for [the benefit of] himself. And whoever is ungrateful - then indeed, my Lord is Free of need and Generous

۞ قَالَ نَكِّرُواْ لَهَا عَرْشَهَا نَنظُرَ اَتَهْتَدِےٓ أَمْ تَكُونُ مِنَ اَ۬لذِينَ لَا يَهْتَدُونَۖ ﰩ

Qâla nakkirû lahâ ‘arshahâ nanzura tahtadî am takûnu mina lladhîna lâ yahtadûn

Et il dit [encore]: «Rendez-lui son trône méconnaissable, nous verrons alors si elle sera guidée ou si elle est du nombre de ceux qui ne sont pas guidés»

He said, "Disguise for her her throne; we will see whether she will be guided [to truth] or will be of those who is not guided

فَلَمَّا جَآءَتْ قِيلَ أَهَٰكَذَا عَرْشُكِ قَالَتْ كَأَنَّهُۥ هُوَۖ وَأُوتِينَا اَ۬لْعِلْمَ مِن قَبْلِهَا وَكُنَّا مُسْلِمِينَۖ ﰪ

Falammâ jâ'at qîla ahâkadhâ ‘arshuki qâlat ka'annahû huwa wa'ûtînâ l‘ilma min qablihâ wakunnâ muslimîn

Quand elle fut venue on lui dit: «Est-ce que ton trône est ainsi?» Elle dit: «C'est comme s'il l'était». - [Salomon dit]: «Le savoir nous a été donné avant elle; et nous étions déjà soumis»

So when she arrived, it was said [to her], "Is your throne like this?" She said, "[It is] as though it was it." [Solomon said], "And we were given knowledge before her, and we have been Muslims [in submission to Allah]

وَصَدَّهَا مَا كَانَت تَّعْبُدُ مِن دُونِ اِ۬للَّهِۖ إِنَّهَا كَانَتْ مِن قَوْمٖ كٰ۪فِرِينَۖ ﰫ

Wasaddahâ mâ kânat ta‘budu min dûni llâhi innahâ kânat min qawmin kêfirîn

Or, ce qu'elle adorait en dehors d'Allah l'empêchait (d'être croyante) car elle faisait partie d'un peuple mécréant

And that which she was worshipping other than Allah had averted her [from submission to Him]. Indeed, she was from a disbelieving people

قِيلَ لَهَا اَ۟دْخُلِے اِ۬لصَّرْحَۖ فَلَمَّا رَأَتْهُ حَسِبَتْهُ لُجَّةٗ وَكَشَفَتْ عَن سَاقَيْهَاۖ قَالَ إِنَّهُۥ صَرْحٞ مُّمَرَّدٞ مِّن قَوَارِيرَۖ ﰬ

Qîla lahâ dkhulî ssarha falammâ ra'athu hasibathu lujjatan wakashafat ‘an sâqayhâ qâla innahû sarhum mumarradum min qawârîr

On lui dit: «Entre dans le palais». Puis, quand elle le vit, elle le prit pour de l'eau profonde et elle se découvrit les jambes. Alors, [Salomon] lui dit: «Ceci est un palais pavé de cristal». - Elle dit: «Seigneur, je me suis fait du tort à moi-même: Je me soumets avec Salomon à Allah, Seigneur de l'univers»

She was told, "Enter the palace." But when she saw it, she thought it was a body of water and uncovered her shins [to wade through]. He said, "Indeed, it is a palace [whose floor is] made smooth with glass." She said, "My Lord, indeed I have wronged myself, and I submit with Solomon to Allah, Lord of the worlds

قَالَتْ رَبِّ إِنِّے ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِے وَأَسْلَمْتُ مَعَ سُلَيْمَٰنَ لِلهِ رَبِّ اِ۬لْعَٰلَمِينَۖ ﰭ

Qâlat rabbi innî zalamtu nafsî wa'aslamtu ma‘a sulaymâna lillâhi rabbi l‘âlamîn

وَلَقَدَ اَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَىٰ ثَمُودَ أَخَاهُمْ صَٰلِحاً اَنُ اُ۟عْبُدُواْ اُ۬للَّهَ فَإِذَا هُمْ فَرِيقَٰنِ يَخْتَصِمُونَۖ ﰮ

Walaqada rsalnâ ilâ thamûda akhâhum sâlihana nu ‘budû llâha fa'idhâ hum farîqâni yakhtasimûn

Nous envoyâmes effectivement vers les Thamûd leur frère Sâlih. [qui leur dit]: «Adorez Allah». Et voilà qu'ils se divisèrent en deux groupes qui se disputèrent

And We had certainly sent to Thamud their brother Salih, [saying], "Worship Allah," and at once they were two parties conflicting

قَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ لِمَ تَسْتَعْجِلُونَ بِالسَّيِّئَةِ قَبْلَ اَ۬لْحَسَنَةِ لَوْلَا تَسْتَغْفِرُونَ اَ۬للَّهَ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَۖ ﰯ

Qâla yâqawmi lima tasta‘jilûna bissayyî'ati qabla lhasanati lawlâ tastaghfirûna llâha la‘allakum turhamûn

Il dit: «O mon peuple, pourquoi cherchez-vous à hâter le mal plutôt que le bien? Si seulement vous demandiez pardon à Allah? Peut-être vous serait-il fait miséricorde

He said, "O my people, why are you impatient for evil instead of good? Why do you not seek forgiveness of Allah that you may receive mercy

قَالُواْ اُ۪طَّيَّرْنَا بِكَ وَبِمَن مَّعَكَۖ قَالَ طَٰٓئِرُكُمْ عِندَ اَ۬للَّهِۖ بَلَ اَنتُمْ قَوْمٞ تُفْتَنُونَۖ ﰰ

Qâlû ttayyarnâ bika wabimam ma‘aka qâla tâ'irukum ‘inda llâhi bala ntum qawmun tuftanûn

Ils dirent: «Nous voyons en toi et en ceux qui sont avec toi, des porteurs de malheur». Il dit: «Votre sort dépend d'Allah. Mais vous êtes plutôt des gens qu'on soumet à la tentation

They said, "We consider you a bad omen, you and those with you." He said, "Your omen is with Allah. Rather, you are a people being tested

وَكَانَ فِے اِ۬لْمَدِينَةِ تِسْعَةُ رَهْطٖ يُفْسِدُونَ فِے اِ۬لَارْضِ وَلَا يُصْلِحُونَۖ ﰱ

Wakâna fî lmadînati tis‘atu rahtin yufsidûna fî lardi walâ yuslihûn

Et il y avait dans la ville un groupe de neuf individus qui semaient le désordre sur terre et ne faisaient rien de bon

And there were in the city nine family heads causing corruption in the land and not amending [its affairs]

قَالُواْ تَقَاسَمُواْ بِاللَّهِ لَنُبَيِّتَنَّهُۥ وَأَهْلَهُۥ ثُمَّ لَنَقُولَنَّ لِوَلِيِّهِۦ مَا شَهِدْنَا مُهْلَكَ أَهْلِهِۦ وَإِنَّا لَصَٰدِقُونَۖ ﰲ

Qâlû taqâsamû billâhi lanubayyitannahû wa'ahlahû thumma lanaqûlanna liwaliyyihî mâ shahidnâ muhlaka ahlihî wa'innâ lasâdiqûn

Ils dirent: «Jurons par Allah que nous l'attaquerons de nuit, lui et sa famille. Ensuite nous dirons à celui qui est chargé de le venger: «Nous n'avons pas assisté à l'assassinat de sa famille, et nous sommes sincères»

They said, "Take a mutual oath by Allah that we will kill him by night, he and his family. Then we will say to his executor, 'We did not witness the destruction of his family, and indeed, we are truthful

وَمَكَرُواْ مَكْراٗ وَمَكَرْنَا مَكْراٗ وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَۖ ﰳ

Wamakarû makran wamakarnâ makran wahum lâ yash‘urûn

Ils ourdirent une ruse et Nous ourdîmes une ruse sans qu'ils s'en rendent compte

And they planned a plan, and We planned a plan, while they perceived not

فَانظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ مَكْرِهِمُۥٓۖ إِنَّا دَمَّرْنَٰهُمْ وَقَوْمَهُمُۥٓ أَجْمَعِينَۖ ﰴ

Fânzur kayfa kâna ‘âqibatu makrihimû innâ dammarnâhum waqawmahumû ajma‘în

Regarde donc ce qu'a été la conséquence de leur stratagème: Nous les fîmes périr, eux et tout leur peuple

Then look how was the outcome of their plan - that We destroyed them and their people, all

فَتِلْكَ بُيُوتُهُمْ خَاوِيَةَۢ بِمَا ظَلَمُوٓاْۖ إِنَّ فِے ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَةٗ لِّقَوْمٖ يَعْلَمُونَۖ ﰵ

Fatilka buyûtuhum khâwiyatam bimâ zalamû inna fî dhâlika la'yatal liqawmin ya‘lamûn

Voilà donc leurs maisons désertes à cause de leurs méfaits. C'est bien là un avertissement pour des gens qui savent

So those are their houses, desolate because of the wrong they had done. Indeed in that is a sign for people who know

وَأَنجَيْنَا اَ۬لذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَكَانُواْ يَتَّقُونَۖ ﰶ

Wa'anjaynâ lladhîna âmanû wakânû yattaqûn

Et Nous sauvâmes ceux qui avaient cru et étaient pieux

And We saved those who believed and used to fear Allah

وَلُوطاً اِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِۦٓ أَتَاتُونَ اَ۬لْفَٰحِشَةَ وَأَنتُمْ تُبْصِرُونَۖ ﰷ

Walûtani dh qâla liqawmihî atâtûna lfâhishata wa'antum tubsirûn

[Et rappelle-leur] Lot, quand il dit à son peuple: «Vous livrez-vous à la turpitude [l'homosexualité] alors que vous voyez clair»

And [mention] Lot, when he said to his people, "Do you commit immorality while you are seeing

أَئِنَّكُمْ لَتَاتُونَ اَ۬لرِّجَالَ شَهْوَةٗ مِّن دُونِ اِ۬لنِّسَآءِۖ بَلَ اَنتُمْ قَوْمٞ تَجْهَلُونَۖ ﰸ

A'innakum latâtûna rrijâla shahwatam min dûni nnisâ'i bala ntum qawmun tajhalûn

Vous allez aux hommes au lieu de femmes pour assouvir vos désirs? Vous êtes plutôt un peuple ignorant

Do you indeed approach men with desire instead of women? Rather, you are a people behaving ignorantly

۞ فَمَا كَانَ جَوَابَ قَوْمِهِۦٓ إِلَّآ أَن قَالُوٓاْ أَخْرِجُوٓاْ ءَالَ لُوطٖ مِّن قَرْيَتِكُمُۥٓۖ إِنَّهُمُۥٓ أُنَاسٞ يَتَطَهَّرُونَۖ ﰹ

Famâ kâna jawâba qawmihî illâ an qâlû akhrijû âla lûtim min qaryatikumû innahumû unâsun yatatahharûn

Puis son peuple n'eut que cette réponse: «Expulsez de votre cité la famille de Lot! Car ce sont des gens qui affectent la pureté

But the answer of his people was not except that they said, "Expel the family of Lot from your city. Indeed, they are people who keep themselves pure

فَأَنجَيْنَٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥٓ إِلَّا اَ۪مْرَأَتَهُۥ قَدَّرْنَٰهَا مِنَ اَ۬لْغَٰبِرِينَۖ ﰺ

Fa'anjaynâhu wa'ahlahû illâ mra'atahû qaddarnâhâ mina lghâbirîn

Nous le sauvâmes ainsi que sa famille, sauf sa femme pour qui Nous avions déterminé qu'elle serait du nombre des exterminés

So We saved him and his family, except for his wife; We destined her to be of those who remained behind

وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِم مَّطَراٗۖ فَسَآءَ مَطَرُ اُ۬لْمُنذَرِينَۖ ﰻ

Wa'amtarnâ ‘alayhim mataran fasâ'a mataru lmundharîn

Et Nous fîmes pleuvoir sur eux une pluie (de pierres). Et quelle mauvaise pluie que celle des gens prévenus

And We rained upon them a rain [of stones], and evil was the rain of those who were warned

قُلِ اِ۬لْحَمْدُ لِلهِ وَسَلَٰمٌ عَلَىٰ عِبَادِهِ اِ۬لذِينَ اَ۪صْطَف۪ىٰٓۖ ءَآللَّهُ خَيْرٌ اَمَّا تُشْرِكُونَۖ ﰼ

Quli lhamdu lillâhi wasalâmun ‘alâ ‘ibâdihi lladhîna stafê âllâhu khayruna mmâ tushrikûn

Dis: «Louange à Allah et paix sur Ses serviteurs qu'Il a élus!» Lequel est meilleur: Allah ou bien ce qu'ils Lui associent

Say, [O Muhammad], "Praise be to Allah, and peace upon His servants whom He has chosen. Is Allah better or what they associate with Him

أَمَّنْ خَلَقَ اَ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالَارْضَ وَأَنزَلَ لَكُم مِّنَ اَ۬لسَّمَآءِ مَآءٗ فَأَنۢبَتْنَا بِهِۦ حَدَآئِقَ ذَاتَ بَهْجَةٖۖ مَّا كَانَ لَكُمُۥٓ أَن تُنۢبِتُواْ شَجَرَهَآۖ أَ۟لَٰهٞ مَّعَ اَ۬للَّهِۖ بَلْ هُمْ قَوْمٞ يَعْدِلُونَۖ ﰽ

Amman khalaqa ssamâwâti walarda wa'anzala lakum mina ssamâ'i mâ'an fa'ambatnâ bihî hadâ'iqa dhâta bahjatim mâ kâna lakumû an tumbitû shajarahâ alâhum ma‘a llâhi bal hum qawmun ya‘dilûn

N'est-ce pas Lui qui a créé les cieux et la terre et qui vous a fait descendre du ciel une eau avec laquelle Nous avons fait pousser des jardins pleins de beauté. Vous n'étiez nullement capables de faire pousser leurs arbres. Y a-t-il donc une divinité avec Allah? Non, mais ce sont des gens qui Lui donnent des égaux

[More precisely], is He [not best] who created the heavens and the earth and sent down for you rain from the sky, causing to grow thereby gardens of joyful beauty which you could not [otherwise] have grown the trees thereof? Is there a deity with Allah? [No], but they are a people who ascribe equals [to Him]

أَمَّن جَعَلَ اَ۬لَارْضَ قَرَاراٗ وَجَعَلَ خِلَٰلَهَآ أَنْهَٰراٗ وَجَعَلَ لَهَا رَوَٰسِيَ وَجَعَلَ بَيْنَ اَ۬لْبَحْرَيْنِ حَاجِزاًۖ اَ۟لَٰهٞ مَّعَ اَ۬للَّهِۖ بَلَ اَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَۖ ﰾ

Amman ja‘ala larda qarâran waja‘ala khilâlahâ anhâran waja‘ala lahâ rawâsiya waja‘ala bayna lbahrayni hâjizani lâhum ma‘a llâhi bala ktharuhum lâ ya‘lamûn

N'est-ce pas Lui qui a établi la terre comme lieu de séjour, placé des rivières à travers elle, lui a assigné des montagnes fermes et établi une séparation entre les deux mers, - Y a-t-il donc une divinité avec Allah? Non, mais la plupart d'entre eux ne savent pas

Is He [not best] who made the earth a stable ground and placed within it rivers and made for it firmly set mountains and placed between the two seas a barrier? Is there a deity with Allah? [No], but most of them do not know

أَمَّنْ يُّجِيبُ اُ۬لْمُضْطَرَّ إِذَا دَعَاهُ وَيَكْشِفُ اُ۬لسُّوٓءَ وَيَجْعَلُكُمْ خُلَفَآءَ اَ۬لَارْضِۖ أَ۟لَٰهٞ مَّعَ اَ۬للَّهِۖ قَلِيلاٗ مَّا تَذَّكَّرُونَۖ ﰿ

Ammay yujîbu lmudtarra idhâ da‘âhu wayakshifu ssû'a wayaj‘alukum khulafâ'a lardi alâhum ma‘a llâhi qalîlam mâ tadhdhakkarûn

N'est-ce pas Lui qui répond à l'angoissé quand il L'invoque, et qui enlève le mal, et qui vous fait succéder sur la terre, génération après génération, - Y a-t-il donc une divinité avec Allah? C'est rare que vous vous rappeliez

Is He [not best] who responds to the desperate one when he calls upon Him and removes evil and makes you inheritors of the earth? Is there a deity with Allah? Little do you remember

أَمَّنْ يَّهْدِيكُمْ فِے ظُلُمَٰتِ اِ۬لْبَرِّ وَالْبَحْرِ وَمَنْ يُّرْسِلُ اُ۬لرِّيَٰحَ نُشُراَۢ بَيْنَ يَدَےْ رَحْمَتِهِۦٓۖ أَ۟لَٰهٞ مَّعَ اَ۬للَّهِۖ تَعَٰلَى اَ۬للَّهُ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَۖ ﱀ

Ammay yahdîkum fî zulumâti lbarri walbahri wamay yursilu rriyâha nushuram bayna yaday rahmatihî alâhum ma‘a llâhi ta‘âlâ llâhu ‘ammâ yushrikûn

N'est-ce pas Lui qui vous guide dans les ténèbres de la terre et de la mer, et qui envoie les vents, comme une bonne annonce précédent Sa grâce. - Y a-t-il donc une divinité avec Allah? Allah est Très Elevé au-dessus de ce qu'ils [Lui] associent

Is He [not best] who guides you through the darknesses of the land and sea and who sends the winds as good tidings before His mercy? Is there a deity with Allah? High is Allah above whatever they associate with Him

أَمَّنْ يَّبْدَؤُاْ اُ۬لْخَلْقَ ثُمَّ يُعِيدُهُۥ وَمَنْ يَّرْزُقُكُم مِّنَ اَ۬لسَّمَآءِ وَالَارْضِۖ أَ۟لَٰهٞ مَّعَ اَ۬للَّهِۖ قُلْ هَاتُواْ بُرْهَٰنَكُمُۥٓ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَۖ ﱁ

Ammay yabda'u lkhalqa thumma yu‘îduhû wamay yarzuqukum mina ssamâ'i walardi alâhum ma‘a llâhi qul hâtû burhânakumû in kuntum sâdiqîn

N'est-ce pas Lui qui commence la création, puis la refait, et qui vous nourrit du ciel et de la terre. Y a-t-il donc une divinité avec Allah? Dis: «Apportez votre preuve, si vous êtes véridiques!»

Is He [not best] who begins creation and then repeats it and who provides for you from the heaven and earth? Is there a deity with Allah? Say, "Produce your proof, if you should be truthful

قُل لَّا يَعْلَمُ مَن فِے اِ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالَارْضِ اِ۬لْغَيْبَ إِلَّا اَ۬للَّهُۖ وَمَا يَشْعُرُونَ أَيَّانَ يُبْعَثُونَۖ ﱂ

Qul lâ ya‘lamu man fî ssamâwâti walardi lghayba illâ llâhu wamâ yash‘urûna ayyâna yub‘athûn

Dis: «Nul de ceux qui sont dans les cieux et sur la terre ne connaît l'Inconnaissable, à part Allah». Et ils ne savent pas quand ils seront ressuscités

Say, "None in the heavens and earth knows the unseen except Allah, and they do not perceive when they will be resurrected

۞ بَلِ اِ۪دَّٰرَكَ عِلْمُهُمْ فِے اِ۬لَاخِرَةِۖ بَلْ هُمْ فِے شَكّٖ مِّنْهَا بَلْ هُم مِّنْهَا عَمُونَۖ ﱃ

Bali ddâraka ‘ilmuhum fî lakhirati bal hum fî shakkim minhâ bal hum minhâ ‘amûn

Mais leurs sciences se sont rejointes au sujet de l'autre monde. Ils doutent plutôt là-dessus. Ou plutôt ils sont aveugles à son sujet

Rather, their knowledge is arrested concerning the Hereafter. Rather, they are in doubt about it. Rather, they are, concerning it, blind

وَقَالَ اَ۬لذِينَ كَفَرُوٓاْ إِذَا كُنَّا تُرَٰباٗ وَءَابَآؤُنَآ أَئِنَّا لَمُخْرَجُونَۖ ﱄ

Waqâla lladhîna kafarû idhâ kunnâ turâban wa'âbâ'unâ a'innâ lamukhrajûn

Et ceux qui ne croient pas disent: «Est-ce que, quand nous serons poussière, nous et nos pères, est-ce que vraiment on nous fera sortir (de nos tombes)

And those who disbelieve say, "When we have become dust as well as our forefathers, will we indeed be brought out [of the graves]

لَقَدْ وُعِدْنَا هَٰذَا نَحْنُ وَءَابَآؤُنَا مِن قَبْلُۖ إِنْ هَٰذَآ إِلَّآ أَسَٰطِيرُ اُ۬لَاوَّلِينَۖ ﱅ

Laqad wu‘idnâ hâdhâ nahnu wa'âbâ'unâ min qablu in hâdhâ illâ asâtîru lawwalîn

Certes, on nous l'a promis à nous et à nos pères, auparavant. Ce ne sont que des contes d'anciens!»

We have been promised this, we and our forefathers, before. This is not but legends of the former peoples

قُلْ سِيرُواْ فِے اِ۬لَارْضِ فَانظُرُواْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ اُ۬لْمُجْرِمِينَۖ ﱆ

Qul sîrû fî lardi fânzurû kayfa kâna ‘âqibatu lmujrimîn

Dis: «Parcourez la terre et voyez ce qu'il est advenu des criminels»

Say, [O Muhammad], "Travel through the land and observe how was the end of the criminals

وَلَا تَحْزَنْ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا تَكُن فِے ضَيْقٖ مِّمَّا يَمْكُرُونَۖ ﱇ

Walâ tahzan ‘alayhim walâ takun fî dayqim mimmâ yamkurûn

Et ne t'afflige pas sur eux et ne sois pas angoissé à cause de leur complot

And grieve not over them or be in distress from what they conspire

وَيَقُولُونَ مَت۪ىٰ هَٰذَا اَ۬لْوَعْدُ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَۖ ﱈ

Wayaqûlûna matê hâdhâ lwa‘du in kuntum sâdiqîn

Et ils disent: «Pour quand cette promesse si vous êtes véridiques?»

And they say, "When is [the fulfillment of] this promise, if you should be truthful

قُلْ عَس۪ىٰٓ أَنْ يَّكُونَ رَدِفَ لَكُم بَعْضُ اُ۬لذِے تَسْتَعْجِلُونَۖ ﱉ

Qul ‘asê ay yakûna radifa lakum ba‘du lladhî tasta‘jilûn

Dis: «Il se peut qu'une partie de ce que vous cherchez à hâter soit déjà sur vos talons»

Say, "Perhaps it is close behind you - some of that for which you are impatient

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَذُو فَضْلٍ عَلَى اَ۬لنَّاسِۖ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَشْكُرُونَۖ ﱊ

Wa'inna rabbaka ladhû fadlin ‘alâ nnâsi walâkinna aktharahum lâ yashkurûn

Certes, ton Seigneur est pourvoyeur de grâce aux hommes, mais la plupart d'entre eux ne sont pas reconnaissants

And indeed, your Lord is full of bounty for the people, but most of them do not show gratitude

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَيَعْلَمُ مَا تُكِنُّ صُدُورُهُمْ وَمَا يُعْلِنُونَۖ ﱋ

Wa'inna rabbaka laya‘lamu mâ tukinnu sudûruhum wamâ yu‘linûn

Certes, ton Seigneur sait ce que cachent leurs poitrines et ce qu'ils divulguent

And indeed, your Lord knows what their breasts conceal and what they declare

وَمَا مِنْ غَآئِبَةٖ فِے اِ۬لسَّمَآءِ وَالَارْضِ إِلَّا فِے كِتَٰبٖ مُّبِينٍۖ ﱌ

Wamâ min ghâ'ibatin fî ssamâ'i walardi illâ fî kitâbim mubîn

Et il n'y a rien de caché, dans le ciel et la terre, qui ne soit dans un Livre explicite

And there is nothing concealed within the heaven and the earth except that it is in a clear Register

اِنَّ هَٰذَا اَ۬لْقُرْءَانَ يَقُصُّ عَلَىٰ بَنِےٓ إِسْرَآءِيلَ أَكْثَرَ اَ۬لذِے هُمْ فِيهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَۖ ﱍ

Inna hâdhâ lqur'âna yaqussu ‘alâ banî isrâ'îla akthara lladhî hum fîhi yakhtalifûn

Ce Coran raconte aux Enfants d'Israël la plupart des sujets sur lesquels ils divergent

Indeed, this Qur'an relates to the Children of Israel most of that over which they disagree

وَإِنَّهُۥ لَهُدىٗ وَرَحْمَةٞ لِّلْمُومِنِينَۖ ﱎ

Wa'innahû lahudan warahmatul lilmûminîn

cependant qu'il est pour les croyants un guide et une miséricorde

And indeed, it is guidance and mercy for the believers

إِنَّ رَبَّكَ يَقْضِے بَيْنَهُم بِحُكْمِهِۦۖ وَهُوَ اَ۬لْعَزِيزُ اُ۬لْعَلِيمُۖ ﱏ

Inna rabbaka yaqdî baynahum bihukmihî wahuwa l‘azîzu l‘alîm

Ton Seigneur décidera certes entre eux par Son jugement; et Il est le Tout Puissant, le Sage

Indeed, your Lord will judge between them by His [wise] judgement. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Knowing

فَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى اَ۬للَّهِۖ إِنَّكَ عَلَى اَ۬لْحَقِّ اِ۬لْمُبِينِۖ ﱐ

Fatawakkal ‘alâ llâhi innaka ‘alâ lhaqqi lmubîn

Place donc ta confiance en Allah, car tu es de toute évidence dans la vérité et le bon droit

So rely upon Allah; indeed, you are upon the clear truth

إِنَّكَ لَا تُسْمِعُ اُ۬لْمَوْت۪ىٰ وَلَا تُسْمِعُ اُ۬لصُّمَّ اَ۬لدُّعَآءَ ا۪ذَا وَلَّوْاْ مُدْبِرِينَۖ ﱑ

Innaka lâ tusmi‘u lmawtê walâ tusmi‘u ssumma ddu‘â'a dhâ wallaw mudbirîn

Tu ne peux faire entendre les morts ni faire entendre l'appel aux sourds quand ils s'enfuient en tournant le dos

Indeed, you will not make the dead hear, nor will you make the deaf hear the call when they have turned their backs retreating

وَمَآ أَنتَ بِهَٰدِے اِ۬لْعُمْيِ عَن ضَلَٰلَتِهِمُۥٓۖ إِن تُسْمِعُ إِلَّا مَنْ يُّومِنُ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا فَهُم مُّسْلِمُونَۖ ﱒ

Wamâ anta bihâdî l‘umyi ‘an dalâlatihimû in tusmi‘u illâ may yûminu bi'âyâtinâ fahum muslimûn

Et tu ne peux non plus guider les aveugles hors de leur égarement. Tu ne feras entendre que ceux qui croient en Nos versets et se soumettent

And you cannot guide the blind away from their error. You will only make hear those who believe in Our verses so they are Muslims [submitting to Allah]

۞ وَإِذَا وَقَعَ اَ۬لْقَوْلُ عَلَيْهِمُۥٓ أَخْرَجْنَا لَهُمْ دَآبَّةٗ مِّنَ اَ۬لَارْضِ تُكَلِّمُهُمُۥٓۖ إِنَّ اَ۬لنَّاسَ كَانُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا لَا يُوقِنُونَۖ ﱓ

Wa'idhâ waqa‘a lqawlu ‘alayhimû akhrajnâ lahum dâbbatam mina lardi tukallimuhumû inna nnâsa kânû bi'âyâtinâ lâ yûqinûn

Et quand la Parole tombera sur eux, Nous leur ferons sortir de terre une bête qui leur parlera; les gens n'étaient nullement convaincus de la vérité de Nos signes [ou versets]

And when the word befalls them, We will bring forth for them a creature from the earth speaking to them, [saying] that the people were, of Our verses, not certain [in faith]

وَيَوْمَ نَحْشُرُ مِن كُلِّ أُمَّةٖ فَوْجاٗ مِّمَّنْ يُّكَذِّبُ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا فَهُمْ يُوزَعُونَۖ ﱔ

Wayawma nahshuru min kulli ummatin fawjam mimmay yukadhdhibu bi'âyâtinâ fahum yûza‘ûn

Et le jour où Nous rassemblerons, de chaque communauté, une foule de ceux qui démentaient Nos révélations, et qu'ils seront placés en rangs

And [warn of] the Day when We will gather from every nation a company of those who deny Our signs, and they will be [driven] in rows

حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا جَآءُو قَالَ أَكَذَّبْتُم بِـَٔايَٰتِے وَلَمْ تُحِيطُواْ بِهَا عِلْماًۖ اَمَّاذَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَۖ ﱕ

Hattâ idhâ jâ'û qâla akadhdhabtum bi'âyâtî walam tuhîtû bihâ ‘ilmana mmâdhâ kuntum ta‘malûn

puis, quand ils seront arrivés, [Allah] dira: «Avez-vous traité de mensonges Mes signes sans les avoir embrassés de votre savoir? Ou que faisiez-vous donc?»

Until, when they arrive [at the place of Judgement], He will say, "Did you deny My signs while you encompassed them not in knowledge, or what [was it that] you were doing

وَوَقَعَ اَ۬لْقَوْلُ عَلَيْهِم بِمَا ظَلَمُواْ فَهُمْ لَا يَنطِقُونَۖ ﱖ

Wawaqa‘a lqawlu ‘alayhim bimâ zalamû fahum lâ yantiqûn

Et la Parole leur tombera dessus à cause de leurs méfaits. Et ils ne pourront rien dire

And the decree will befall them for the wrong they did, and they will not [be able to] speak

أَلَمْ يَرَوَاْ اَنَّا جَعَلْنَا اَ۬ليْلَ لِيَسْكُنُواْ فِيهِ وَالنَّهَارَ مُبْصِراًۖ اِنَّ فِے ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَٰتٖ لِّقَوْمٖ يُومِنُونَۖ ﱗ

Alam yarawa nnâ ja‘alnâ llayla liyaskunû fîhi wannahâra mubsirani nna fî dhâlika la'yâtil liqawmin yûminûn

N'ont-ils pas vu qu'en vérité, Nous avons désigné la nuit pour qu'ils y aient du repos, et le jour pour voir? Voilà bien des preuves pour des gens qui croient

Do they not see that We made the night that they may rest therein and the day giving sight? Indeed in that are signs for a people who believe

وَيَوْمَ يُنفَخُ فِے اِ۬لصُّورِ فَفَزِعَ مَن فِے اِ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَن فِے اِ۬لَارْضِ إِلَّا مَن شَآءَ اَ۬للَّهُۖ وَكُلٌّ اٰتُوهُ دَٰخِرِينَۖ ﱘ

Wayawma yunfakhu fî ssûri fafazi‘a man fî ssamâwâti waman fî lardi illâ man shâ'a llâhu wakullun âtûhu dâkhirîn

Et le jour où l'on soufflera dans la Trompe, tous ceux qui sont dans les cieux et ceux qui sont dans la terre seront effrayés, - sauf ceux qu'Allah a voulu [préserver]! - Et tous viendront à Lui en s'humiliant

And [warn of] the Day the Horn will be blown, and whoever is in the heavens and whoever is on the earth will be terrified except whom Allah wills. And all will come to Him humbled

وَتَرَى اَ۬لْجِبَالَ تَحْسِبُهَا جَامِدَةٗ وَهِيَ تَمُرُّ مَرَّ اَ۬لسَّحَابِۖ صُنْعَ اَ۬للَّهِ اِ۬لذِےٓ أَتْقَنَ كُلَّ شَےْءٍۖ اِنَّهُۥ خَبِيرُۢ بِمَا تَفْعَلُونَۖ ﱙ

Watarâ ljibâla tahsibuhâ jâmidatan wahiya tamurru marra ssahâbi sun‘a llâhi lladhî atqana kulla shay'ini nnahû khabîrum bimâ taf‘alûn

Et tu verras les montagnes - tu les crois figées - alors qu'elles passent comme des nuages. Telle est l'œuvre d'Allah qui a tout façonné à la perfection. Il est Parfaitement Connaisseur de ce que vous faites

And you see the mountains, thinking them rigid, while they will pass as the passing of clouds. [It is] the work of Allah, who perfected all things. Indeed, He is Acquainted with that which you do

مَن جَآءَ بِالْحَسَنَةِ فَلَهُۥ خَيْرٞ مِّنْهَا وَهُم مِّن فَزَعِ يَوْمَئِذٍ اٰمِنُونَۖ ﱚ

Man jâ'a bilhasanati falahû khayrum minhâ wahum min faza‘i yawma'idhin âminûn

Quiconque viendra avec le bien aura bien mieux, et ce jour-là, ils seront à l'abri de tout effroi

Whoever comes [at Judgement] with a good deed will have better than it, and they, from the terror of that Day, will be safe

وَمَن جَآءَ بِالسَّيِّئَةِ فَكُبَّتْ وُجُوهُهُمْ فِے اِ۬لنّ۪ارِۖ هَلْ تُجْزَوْنَ إِلَّا مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَۖ ﱛ

Waman jâ'a bissayyî'ati fakubbat wujûhuhum fî nnêri hal tujzawna illâ mâ kuntum ta‘malûn

Et quiconque viendra avec le mal... alors ils seront culbutés le visage dans le Feu. N'êtes-vous pas uniquement rétribués selon ce que vous œuvriez?»

And whoever comes with an evil deed - their faces will be overturned into the Fire, [and it will be said], "Are you recompensed except for what you used to do

إِنَّمَآ أُمِرْتُ أَنَ اَعْبُدَ رَبَّ هَٰذِهِ اِ۬لْبَلْدَةِ اِ۬لذِے حَرَّمَهَا وَلَهُۥ كُلُّ شَےْءٖۖ وَأُمِرْتُ أَنَ اَكُونَ مِنَ اَ۬لْمُسْلِمِينَ ﱜ

Innamâ umirtu ana ‘buda rabba hâdhihi lbaldati lladhî harramahâ walahû kullu shay'in wa'umirtu ana kûna mina lmuslimîn

«Il m'a été seulement commandé d'adorer le Seigneur de cette Ville (la Mecque) qu'Il a sanctifiée, - et à Lui toute chose - et il m'a été commandé d'être du nombre des Musulmans

[Say, O Muhammad], "I have only been commanded to worship the Lord of this city, who made it sacred and to whom [belongs] all things. And I am commanded to be of the Muslims [those who submit to Allah]

وَأَنَ اَتْلُوَاْ اَ۬لْقُرْءَانَۖ فَمَنِ اِ۪هْتَد۪ىٰ فَإِنَّمَا يَهْتَدِے لِنَفْسِهِۦۖ وَمَن ضَلَّ فَقُلِ اِنَّمَآ أَنَا مِنَ اَ۬لْمُنذِرِينَۖ ﱝ

Wa'ana tluwa lqur'âna famani htadê fa'innamâ yahtadî linafsihî waman dalla faquli nnamâ anâ mina lmundhirîn

et de réciter le Coran». Quiconque se guide, c'est pour lui-même en effet qu'il se guide. Et quiconque s'égare..., alors dis: «Je ne suis que l'un des avertisseurs»

And to recite the Qur'an." And whoever is guided is only guided for [the benefit of] himself; and whoever strays - say, "I am only [one] of the warners

وَقُلِ اِ۬لْحَمْدُ لِلهِ سَيُرِيكُمُۥٓ ءَايَٰتِهِۦ فَتَعْرِفُونَهَاۖ وَمَا رَبُّكَ بِغَٰفِلٍ عَمَّا تَعْمَلُونَۖ ﱞ

Waquli lhamdu lillâhi sayurîkumû âyâtihî fata‘rifûnahâ wamâ rabbuka bighâfilin ‘ammâ ta‘malûn

Dis: «Louange à Allah! Il vous fera voir Ses preuves, et vous les reconnaîtrez». Ton Seigneur n'est pas inattentif à ce que vous faites

And say, "[All] praise is [due] to Allah. He will show you His signs, and you will recognize them. And your Lord is not unaware of what you do
