وَالصَّٰٓفَّٰتِ صَفّاٗ ﰀ

Wassâffâti saffâ

Par ceux qui sont rangés en rangs

By those [angels] lined up in rows

فَالزَّٰجِرَٰتِ زَجْراٗ ﰁ

Fazzâjirâti zajrâ

Par ceux qui poussent (les nuages) avec force

And those who drive [the clouds]

فَالتَّٰلِيَٰتِ ذِكْراً ﰂ

Fattâliyâti dhikrâ

Par ceux qui récitent, en rappel

And those who recite the message

اِنَّ إِلَٰهَكُمْ لَوَٰحِدٞۖ ﰃ

Inna ilâhakum lawâhid

«Votre Dieu est en vérité unique

Indeed, your God is One

رَّبُّ اُ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالَارْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَرَبُّ اُ۬لْمَشَٰرِقِۖ ﰄ

Rabbu ssamâwâti walardi wamâ baynahumâ warabbu lmashâriq

le Seigneur des cieux et de la terre et de ce qui existe entre eux et Seigneur des Levants»

Lord of the heavens and the earth and that between them and Lord of the sunrises

إِنَّا زَيَّنَّا اَ۬لسَّمَآءَ اَ۬لدُّنْي۪ا بِزِينَةِ اِ۬لْكَوَاكِبِۖ ﰅ

Innâ zayyannâ ssamâ'a ddunyê bizînati lkawâkib

Nous avons décoré le ciel le plus proche d'un décor: les étoiles

Indeed, We have adorned the nearest heaven with an adornment of stars

وَحِفْظاٗ مِّن كُلِّ شَيْطَٰنٖ مَّارِدٖۖ ﰆ

Wahifzam min kulli shaytânim mârid

afin de le protéger contre tout diable rebelle

And as protection against every rebellious devil

لَّا يَسْمَعُونَ إِلَى اَ۬لْمَلَإِ اِ۬لَاعْل۪ىٰ وَيُقْذَفُونَ مِن كُلِّ جَانِبٖۖ ﰇ

Lâ yasma‘ûna ilâ lmala'i la‘lê wayuqdhafûna min kulli jânib

Ils ne pourront être à l'écoute des dignitaires suprêmes [les Anges]; car ils seront harcelés de tout côté

[So] they may not listen to the exalted assembly [of angels] and are pelted from every side

دُحُوراٗۖ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٞ وَاصِبٌ ﰈ

Duhûran walahum ‘adhâbun wâsib

et refoulés. Et ils auront un châtiment perpétuel

Repelled; and for them is a constant punishment

اِلَّا مَنْ خَطِفَ اَ۬لْخَطْفَةَ فَأَتْبَعَهُۥ شِهَابٞ ثَاقِبٞۖ ﰉ

Illâ man khatifa lkhatfata fa'atba‘ahû shihâbun thâqib

Sauf celui qui saisit au vol quelque [information]; il est alors pourchassé par un météore transperçant

Except one who snatches [some words] by theft, but they are pursued by a burning flame, piercing [in brightness]

فَاسْتَفْتِهِمُۥٓ أَهُمُۥٓ أَشَدُّ خَلْقاً اَم مَّنْ خَلَقْنَآۖ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَٰهُم مِّن طِينٖ لَّٰزِبِۢۖ ﰊ

Fastaftihimû ahumû ashaddu khalqana m man khalaqnâ innâ khalaqnâhum min tînil lazib

Demande-leur s'ils sont plus difficiles à créer que ceux que Nous avons créés? Car Nous les avons créés de boue collante

Then inquire of them, [O Muhammad], "Are they a stronger [or more difficult] creation or those [others] We have created?" Indeed, We created men from sticky clay

بَلْ عَجِبْتَ وَيَسْخَرُونَۖ ﰋ

Bal ‘ajibta wayaskharûn

Mais tu t'étonnes, et ils se moquent

But you wonder, while they mock

وَإِذَا ذُكِّرُواْ لَا يَذْكُرُونَۖ ﰌ

Wa'idhâ dhukkirû lâ yadhkurûn

Et quand on le leur rappelle (le Coran), ils ne se rappellent pas

And when they are reminded, they remember not

وَإِذَا رَأَوَاْ اٰيَةٗ يَسْتَسْخِرُونَۖ ﰍ

Wa'idhâ ra'awa âyatan yastaskhirûn

et quand ils voient un prodige, ils cherchent à s'en moquer

And when they see a sign, they ridicule

وَقَالُوٓاْ إِنْ هَٰذَآ إِلَّا سِحْرٞ مُّبِينٌ ﰎ

Waqâlû in hâdhâ illâ sihrum mubîn

et disent: «Ceci n'est que magie évidente

And say, "This is not but obvious magic

اَ۟ذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَاباٗ وَعِظَٰماً اِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ ﰏ

Idhâ mitnâ wakunnâ turâban wa‘izâmani nnâ lamab‘ûthûn

Lorsque nous serons morts et que nous deviendrons poussière et ossements, serons-nous ressuscités

When we have died and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected

أَوَءَابَآؤُنَا اَ۬لَاوَّلُونَۖ ﰐ

Awa'âbâ'unâ lawwalûn

ainsi que nos premiers ancêtres?»

And our forefathers [as well]

قُلْ نَعَمْ وَأَنتُمْ دَٰخِرُونَۖ ﰑ

Qul na‘am wa'antum dâkhirûn

Dis: «Oui! et vous vous humilierez»

Say, "Yes, and you will be [rendered] contemptible

فَإِنَّمَا هِيَ زَجْرَةٞ وَٰحِدَةٞ فَإِذَا هُمْ يَنظُرُونَۖ ﰒ

Fa'innamâ hiya zajratun wâhidatun fa'idhâ hum yanzurûn

Il n'y aura qu'un seul Cri, et voilà qu'ils regarderont

It will be only one shout, and at once they will be observing

وَقَالُواْ يَٰوَيْلَنَا هَٰذَا يَوْمُ اُ۬لدِّينِۖ ﰓ

Waqâlû yâwaylanâ hâdhâ yawmu ddîn

et ils diront: «Malheur à nous! c'est le jour de la Rétribution»

They will say, "O woe to us! This is the Day of Recompense

هَٰذَا يَوْمُ اُ۬لْفَصْلِ اِ۬لذِے كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَۖ ﰔ

Hâdhâ yawmu lfasli lladhî kuntum bihî tukadhdhibûn

«C'est le jour du Jugement que vous traitiez de mensonge»

[They will be told], "This is the Day of Judgement which you used to deny

۞ اَ۟حْشُرُواْ اُ۬لذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ وَأَزْوَٰجَهُمْ وَمَا كَانُواْ يَعْبُدُونَ ﰕ

Uhshurû lladhîna zalamû wa'azwâjahum wamâ kânû ya‘budûn

«Rassemblez les injustes et leurs épouses et tout ce qu'ils adoraient

[The angels will be ordered], "Gather those who committed wrong, their kinds, and what they used to worship

مِن دُونِ اِ۬للَّهِ فَاهْدُوهُمُۥٓ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطِ اِ۬لْجَحِيمِۖ ﰖ

Min dûni llâhi fahdûhumû ilâ sirâti ljahîm

en dehors d'Allah. Puis conduisez-les au chemin de la Fournaise

Other than Allah, and guide them to the path of Hellfire

وَقِفُوهُمُۥٓ إِنَّهُم مَّسْـُٔولُونَۖ ﰗ

Waqifûhumû innahum mas'ûlûn

Et arrêtez-les: car ils doivent être interrogés»

And stop them; indeed, they are to be questioned

مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنَاصَرُونَۖ ﰘ

Mâ lakum lâ tanâsarûn

«Pourquoi ne vous portez-vous pas secours mutuellement?»

[They will be asked], "What is [wrong] with you? Why do you not help each other

بَلْ هُمُ اُ۬لْيَوْمَ مُسْتَسْلِمُونَۖ ﰙ

Bal humu lyawma mustaslimûn

Mais ce jour-là, ils seront complètement soumis

But they, that Day, are in surrender

وَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٖ يَتَسَآءَلُونَۖ ﰚ

Wa'aqbala ba‘duhum ‘alâ ba‘din yatasâ'alûn

et les uns se tourneront vers les autres s'interrogeant mutuellement

And they will approach one another blaming each other

قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّكُمْ كُنتُمْ تَاتُونَنَا عَنِ اِ۬لْيَمِينِۖ ﰛ

Qâlû innakum kuntum tâtûnanâ ‘ani lyamîn

Ils diront: «C'est vous qui nous forciez (à la mécréance)»

They will say, "Indeed, you used to come at us from the right

قَالُواْ بَل لَّمْ تَكُونُواْ مُومِنِينَۖ ﰜ

Qâlû bal lam takûnû mûminîn

«C'est vous plutôt (diront les chefs) qui ne vouliez pas croire

The oppressors will say, "Rather, you [yourselves] were not believers

وَمَا كَانَ لَنَا عَلَيْكُم مِّن سُلْطَٰنِۢ بَلْ كُنتُمْ قَوْماٗ طَٰغِينَۖ ﰝ

Wamâ kâna lanâ ‘alaykum min sultâni bal kuntum qawman tâghîn

Et nous n'avions aucun pouvoir sur vous. C'est vous plutôt qui étiez des gens transgresseurs

And we had over you no authority, but you were a transgressing people

فَحَقَّ عَلَيْنَا قَوْلُ رَبِّنَآ إِنَّا لَذَآئِقُونَ ﰞ

Fahaqqa ‘alaynâ qawlu rabbinâ innâ ladhâ'iqûn

La parole de notre Seigneur s'est donc réalisée contre nous; certes, nous allons goûter [au châtiment]

So the word of our Lord has come into effect upon us; indeed, we will taste [punishment]

فَأَغْوَيْنَٰكُمُۥٓ إِنَّا كُنَّا غَٰوِينَۖ ﰟ

Fa'aghwaynâkumû innâ kunnâ ghâwîn

Nous vous avons induits en erreur car, en vérité, nous étions égarés nous-mêmes»

And we led you to deviation; indeed, we were deviators

فَإِنَّهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٖ فِے اِ۬لْعَذَابِ مُشْتَرِكُونَۖ ﰠ

Fa'innahum yawma'idhin fî l‘adhâbi mushtarikûn

Ce jour-là donc, ils seront tous associés dans le châtiment

So indeed they, that Day, will be sharing in the punishment

إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِالْمُجْرِمِينَۖ ﰡ

Innâ kadhâlika naf‘alu bilmujrimîn

Ainsi traitons-Nous les criminels

Indeed, that is how We deal with the criminals

إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوٓاْ إِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمْ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا اَ۬للَّهُ يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ ﰢ

Innahum kânû idhâ qîla lahum lâ ilâha illâ llâhu yastakbirûn

Quand on leur disait: «Point de divinité à part Allah», ils se gonflaient d'orgueil

Indeed they, when it was said to them, "There is no deity but Allah," were arrogant

وَيَقُولُونَ أَئِنَّا لَتَارِكُوٓاْ ءَالِهَتِنَا لِشَاعِرٖ مَّجْنُونِۢۖ ﰣ

Wayaqûlûna a'innâ latârikû âlihatinâ lishâ‘irim majnûn

et disaient: «Allons-nous abandonner nos divinités pour un poète fou?»

And were saying, "Are we to leave our gods for a mad poet

بَلْ جَآءَ بِالْحَقِّ وَصَدَّقَ اَ۬لْمُرْسَلِينَۖ ﰤ

Bal jâ'a bilhaqqi wasaddaqa lmursalîn

Il est plutôt venu avec la Vérité et il a confirmé les messagers (précédents)

Rather, the Prophet has come with the truth and confirmed the [previous] messengers

إِنَّكُمْ لَذَآئِقُواْ اُ۬لْعَذَابِ اِ۬لَالِيمِۖ ﰥ

Innakum ladhâ'iqû l‘adhâbi lalîm

Vous allez certes, goûter au châtiment douloureux

Indeed, you [disbelievers] will be tasters of the painful punishment

وَمَا تُجْزَوْنَ إِلَّا مَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ ﰦ

Wamâ tujzawna illâ mâ kuntum ta‘malûn

Et vous ne serez rétribués que selon ce que vous œuvriez

And you will not be recompensed except for what you used to do

إِلَّا عِبَادَ اَ۬للَّهِ اِ۬لْمُخْلَصِينَۖ ﰧ

Illâ ‘ibâda llâhi lmukhlasîn

sauf les serviteurs élus d'Allah

But not the chosen servants of Allah

أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ لَهُمْ رِزْقٞ مَّعْلُومٞ ﰨ

Ulâ'ika lahum rizqum ma‘lûm

Ceux-là auront une rétribution bien connue

Those will have a provision determined

فَوَٰكِهُۖ وَهُم مُّكْرَمُونَ ﰩ

Fawâkihu wahum mukramûn

des fruits, et ils seront honorés

Fruits; and they will be honored

فِے جَنَّٰتِ اِ۬لنَّعِيمِ ﰪ

Fî jannâti nna‘îm

dans les Jardins du délice

In gardens of pleasure

عَلَىٰ سُرُرٖ مُّتَقَٰبِلِينَۖ ﰫ

‘alâ sururim mutaqâbilîn

sur des lits, face à face

On thrones facing one another

يُطَافُ عَلَيْهِم بِكَأْسٖ مِّن مَّعِينِۢ ﰬ

Yutâfu ‘alayhim bika'sim mim ma‘în

On fera circuler entre eux une coupe d'eau remplie à une source

There will be circulated among them a cup [of wine] from a flowing spring

بَيْضَآءَ لَذَّةٖ لِّلشَّٰرِبِينَ ﰭ

Baydâ'a ladhdhatil lishshâribîn

blanche, savoureuse à boire

White and delicious to the drinkers

لَا فِيهَا غَوْلٞ وَلَا هُمْ عَنْهَا يُنزَفُونَۖ ﰮ

Lâ fîhâ ghawlun walâ hum ‘anhâ yunzafûn

Elle n'offusquera point leur raison et ne les enivrera pas

No bad effect is there in it, nor from it will they be intoxicated

وَعِندَهُمْ قَٰصِرَٰتُ اُ۬لطَّرْفِ عِينٞ ﰯ

Wa‘indahum qâsirâtu ttarfi ‘în

Et Ils auront auprès d'eux des belles aux grands yeux, au regard chaste

And with them will be women limiting [their] glances, with large, [beautiful] eyes

كَأَنَّهُنَّ بَيْضٞ مَّكْنُونٞۖ ﰰ

Ka'annahunna baydum maknûn

semblables au blanc bien préservé de l'œuf

As if they were [delicate] eggs, well-protected

فَأَقْبَلَ بَعْضُهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٖ يَتَسَآءَلُونَۖ ﰱ

Fa'aqbala ba‘duhum ‘alâ ba‘din yatasâ'alûn

Puis les uns se tourneront vers les autres s'interrogeant mutuellement

And they will approach one another, inquiring of each other

۞ قَالَ قَآئِلٞ مِّنْهُمُۥٓ إِنِّے كَانَ لِے قَرِينٞ ﰲ

Qâla qâ'ilum minhumû innî kâna lî qarîn

L'un d'eux dira: «J'avais un compagnon

A speaker among them will say, "Indeed, I had a companion [on earth]

يَقُولُ أَ۟نَّكَ لَمِنَ اَ۬لْمُصَدِّقِينَ ﰳ

Yaqûlu annaka lamina lmusaddiqîn

qui disait: «Es-tu vraiment de ceux qui croient

Who would say, 'Are you indeed of those who believe

أَ۟ذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَاباٗ وَعِظَٰماً اِنَّا لَمَدِينُونَۖ ﰴ

Adhâ mitnâ wakunnâ turâban wa‘izâmani nnâ lamadînûn

Est-ce que quand nous mourrons et serons poussière et ossements, nous aurons à rendre des comptes?»

That when we have died and become dust and bones, we will indeed be recompensed

قَالَ هَلَ اَنتُم مُّطَّلِعُونَ ﰵ

Qâla hala ntum muttali‘ûn

Il dira: «Est-ce que vous voudriez regarder d'en haut?»

He will say, "Would you [care to] look

فَاطَّلَعَ فَر۪ء۪اهُ فِے سَوَآءِ اِ۬لْجَحِيمِۖ ﰶ

Fattala‘a fare'êhu fî sawâ'i ljahîm

Alors il regardera d'en haut et il le verra en plein dans la Fournaise

And he will look and see him in the midst of the Hellfire

قَالَ تَاللَّهِ إِن كِدتَّ لَتُرْدِينِۦ ﰷ

Qâla tallâhi in kidtta laturdînî

et dira: «Par Allah! Tu as bien failli causer ma perte

He will say, "By Allah, you almost ruined me

وَلَوْلَا نِعْمَةُ رَبِّے لَكُنتُ مِنَ اَ۬لْمُحْضَرِينَۖ ﰸ

Walawlâ ni‘matu rabbî lakuntu mina lmuhdarîn

et sans le bienfait de mon Seigneur, j'aurais certainement été du nombre de ceux qu'on traîne [au supplice]

If not for the favor of my Lord, I would have been of those brought in [to Hell]

أَفَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَيِّتِينَ ﰹ

Afamâ nahnu bimayyitîn

N'est-il pas vrai que nous ne mourrons

Then, are we not to die

إِلَّا مَوْتَتَنَا اَ۬لُاول۪ىٰ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُعَذَّبِينَۖ ﰺ

Illâ mawtatanâ lûlê wamâ nahnu bimu‘adhdhabîn

que de notre première mort et que nous ne serons pas châtiés?»

Except for our first death, and we will not be punished

إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَهُوَ اَ۬لْفَوْزُ اُ۬لْعَظِيمُۖ ﰻ

Inna hâdhâ lahuwa lfawzu l‘azîm

C'est cela, certes, le grand succès

Indeed, this is the great attainment

لِمِثْلِ هَٰذَا فَلْيَعْمَلِ اِ۬لْعَٰمِلُونَۖ ﰼ

Limithli hâdhâ falya‘mali l‘âmilûn

C'est pour une chose pareille que doivent ouvrer ceux qui ouvrent

For the like of this let the workers [on earth] work

أَذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٞ نُّزُلاً اَمْ شَجَرَةُ اُ۬لزَّقُّومِۖ ﰽ

Adhâlika khayrun nuzulana m shajaratu zzaqqûm

Est-ce que ceci est meilleur comme séjour, ou l'arbre de Zaqqûm

Is Paradise a better accommodation or the tree of zaqqum

إِنَّا جَعَلْنَٰهَا فِتْنَةٗ لِّلظَّٰلِمِينَۖ ﰾ

Innâ ja‘alnâhâ fitnatal lizzâlimîn

Nous l'avons assigné en épreuve aux injustes

Indeed, We have made it a torment for the wrongdoers

إِنَّهَا شَجَرَةٞ تَخْرُجُ فِےٓ أَصْلِ اِ۬لْجَحِيمِ ﰿ

Innahâ shajaratun takhruju fî asli ljahîm

C'est un arbre qui sort du fond de la Fournaise

Indeed, it is a tree issuing from the bottom of the Hellfire

طَلْعُهَا كَأَنَّهُۥ رُءُوسُ اُ۬لشَّيَٰطِينِۖ ﱀ

Tal‘uhâ ka'annahû ru'ûsu shshayâtîn

Ses fruits sont comme des têtes de diables

Its emerging fruit as if it was heads of the devils

فَإِنَّهُمْ لَأٓكِلُونَ مِنْهَا فَمَالِـُٔونَ مِنْهَا اَ۬لْبُطُونَ ﱁ

Fa'innahum la'kilûna minhâ famâli'ûna minhâ lbutûn

Ils doivent certainement en manger et ils doivent s'en remplir le ventre

And indeed, they will eat from it and fill with it their bellies

ثُمَّ إِنَّ لَهُمْ عَلَيْهَا لَشَوْباٗ مِّنْ حَمِيمٖۖ ﱂ

Thumma inna lahum ‘alayhâ lashawbam min hamîm

Ensuite ils auront par-dessus une mixture d'eau bouillante

Then indeed, they will have after it a mixture of scalding water

ثُمَّ إِنَّ مَرْجِعَهُمْ لَإِلَى اَ۬لْجَحِيمِۖ ﱃ

Thumma inna marji‘ahum la'ilâ ljahîm

Puis leur retour sera vers la Fournaise

Then indeed, their return will be to the Hellfire

إِنَّهُمُۥٓ أَلْفَوَاْ اٰبَآءَهُمْ ضَآلِّينَ ﱄ

Innahumû alfawa âbâ'ahum dâllîn

C'est qu'ils ont trouvé leurs ancêtres dans l'égarement

Indeed they found their fathers astray

فَهُمْ عَلَىٰٓ ءَاثٰ۪رِهِمْ يُهْرَعُونَۖ ﱅ

Fahum ‘alâ âthêrihim yuhra‘ûn

et les voilà courant sur leurs traces

So they hastened [to follow] in their footsteps

وَلَقَد ضَّلَّ قَبْلَهُمُۥٓ أَكْثَرُ اُ۬لَاوَّلِينَۖ ﱆ

Walaqad dalla qablahumû aktharu lawwalîn

En effet, avant eux, la plupart des anciens se sont égarés

And there had already strayed before them most of the former peoples

وَلَقَدَ اَرْسَلْنَا فِيهِم مُّنذِرِينَۖ ﱇ

Walaqada rsalnâ fîhim mundhirîn

Et Nous avions certes envoyé parmi eux des avertisseurs

And We had already sent among them warners

فَانظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ اُ۬لْمُنذَرِينَ ﱈ

Fânzur kayfa kâna ‘âqibatu lmundharîn

Regarde donc ce qu'il est advenu de ceux qui ont été avertis

Then look how was the end of those who were warned

إِلَّا عِبَادَ اَ۬للَّهِ اِ۬لْمُخْلَصِينَۖ ﱉ

Illâ ‘ibâda llâhi lmukhlasîn

Exception faite des élus, parmi les serviteurs d'Allah

But not the chosen servants of Allah

وَلَقَدْ نَاد۪يٰنَا نُوحٞۖ فَلَنِعْمَ اَ۬لْمُجِيبُونَۖ ﱊ

Walaqad nâdênâ nûhun falani‘ma lmujîbûn

Noé, en effet, fit appel à Nous qui sommes le Meilleur Répondeur (qui exauce les prières)

And Noah had certainly called Us, and [We are] the best of responders

وَنَجَّيْنَٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥ مِنَ اَ۬لْكَرْبِ اِ۬لْعَظِيمِۖ ﱋ

Wanajjaynâhu wa'ahlahû mina lkarbi l‘azîm

Et Nous le sauvâmes, lui et sa famille, de la grande angoisse

And We saved him and his family from the great affliction

وَجَعَلْنَا ذُرِّيَّتَهُۥ هُمُ اُ۬لْبَاقِينَۖ ﱌ

Waja‘alnâ dhurriyyatahû humu lbâqîn

et Nous fîmes de sa descendance les seuls survivants

And We made his descendants those remaining [on the earth]

وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِے اِ۬لَاخِرِينَۖ ﱍ

Wataraknâ ‘alayhi fî lakhirîn

et Nous avons perpétué son souvenir dans la postérité

And left for him [favorable mention] among later generations

سَلَٰمٌ عَلَىٰ نُوحٖ فِے اِ۬لْعَٰلَمِينَۖ ﱎ

Salâmun ‘alâ nûhin fî l‘âlamîn

Paix sur Noé dans tout l'univers

Peace upon Noah among the worlds

إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِے اِ۬لْمُحْسِنِينَۖ ﱏ

Innâ kadhâlika najzî lmuhsinîn

Ainsi récompensons-Nous les bienfaisants

Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good

إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا اَ۬لْمُومِنِينَۖ ﱐ

Innahû min ‘ibâdinâ lmûminîn

Il était, certes, un de Nos serviteurs croyants

Indeed, he was of Our believing servants

ثُمَّ أَغْرَقْنَا اَ۬لَاخَرِينَۖ ﱑ

Thumma aghraqnâ lakharîn

Ensuite Nous noyâmes les autres

Then We drowned the disbelievers

۞ وَإِنَّ مِن شِيعَتِهِۦ لَإِبْرَٰهِيمَ ﱒ

Wa'inna min shî‘atihî la'ibrâhîm

Du nombre de ses coreligionnaires, certes, fut Abraham

And indeed, among his kind was Abraham

إِذْ جَآءَ رَبَّهُۥ بِقَلْبٖ سَلِيمٍ ﱓ

Idh jâ'a rabbahû biqalbin salîm

Quand il vint à son Seigneur avec un cœur sain

When he came to his Lord with a sound heart

اِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ وَقَوْمِهِۦ مَاذَا تَعْبُدُونَۖ ﱔ

Idh qâla li'abîhi waqawmihî mâdhâ ta‘budûn

Quand il dit à son père et à son peuple: «Qu'est-ce que vous adorez?»

[And] when he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship

أَئِفْكاً اٰلِهَةٗ دُونَ اَ۬للَّهِ تُرِيدُونَۖ ﱕ

A'ifkan âlihatan dûna llâhi turîdûn

Cherchez-vous dans votre égarement, des divinités en dehors d'Allah

Is it falsehood [as] gods other than Allah you desire

فَمَا ظَنُّكُم بِرَبِّ اِ۬لْعَٰلَمِينَۖ ﱖ

Famâ zannukum birabbi l‘âlamîn

Que pensez-vous du Seigneur de l'univers?»

Then what is your thought about the Lord of the worlds

فَنَظَرَ نَظْرَةٗ فِے اِ۬لنُّجُومِ ﱗ

Fanazara nazratan fî nnujûm

Puis, il jeta un regard attentif sur les étoiles

And he cast a look at the stars

فَقَالَ إِنِّے سَقِيمٞ ﱘ

Faqâla innî saqîm

et dit: «Je suis malade»

And said, "Indeed, I am [about to be] ill

فَتَوَلَّوْاْ عَنْهُ مُدْبِرِينَۖ ﱙ

Fatawallaw ‘anhu mudbirîn

Ils lui tournèrent le dos et s'en allèrent

So they turned away from him, departing

فَرَاغَ إِلَىٰٓ ءَالِهَتِهِمْ فَقَالَ أَلَا تَاكُلُونَ ﱚ

Farâgha ilâ âlihatihim faqâla alâ tâkulûn

Alors il se glissa vers leurs divinités et dit: «Ne mangez-vous pas

Then he turned to their gods and said, "Do you not eat

مَا لَكُمْ لَا تَنطِقُونَۖ ﱛ

Mâ lakum lâ tantiqûn

Qu'avez-vous à ne pas parler?»

What is [wrong] with you that you do not speak

فَرَاغَ عَلَيْهِمْ ضَرْباَۢ بِالْيَمِينِ ﱜ

Farâgha ‘alayhim darbam bilyamîn

Puis il se mit furtivement à les frapper de sa main droite

And he turned upon them a blow with [his] right hand

فَأَقْبَلُوٓاْ إِلَيْهِ يَزِفُّونَۖ ﱝ

Fa'aqbalû ilayhi yaziffûn

Alors [les gens] vinrent à lui en courant

Then the people came toward him, hastening

قَالَ أَتَعْبُدُونَ مَا تَنْحِتُونَ ﱞ

Qâla ata‘budûna mâ tanhitûn

Il [leur] dit: «Adorez-vous ce que vous-mêmes sculptez

He said, "Do you worship that which you [yourselves] carve

وَاللَّهُ خَلَقَكُمْ وَمَا تَعْمَلُونَۖ ﱟ

Wallâhu khalaqakum wamâ ta‘malûn

alors que c'est Allah qui vous a créés, vous et ce que vous fabriquez?»

While Allah created you and that which you do

قَالُواْ اُ۪بْنُواْ لَهُۥ بُنْيَٰناٗ فَأَلْقُوهُ فِے اِ۬لْجَحِيمِ ﱠ

Qâlû bnû lahû bunyânan fa'alqûhu fî ljahîm

Ils dirent: «Qu'on lui construise un four et qu'on le lance dans la fournaise!»

They said, "Construct for him a furnace and throw him into the burning fire

فَأَرَادُواْ بِهِۦ كَيْداٗ فَجَعَلْنَٰهُمُ اُ۬لَاسْفَلِينَۖ ﱡ

Fa'arâdû bihî kaydan faja‘alnâhumu lasfalîn

Ils voulurent lui jouer un mauvais tour; mais ce sont eux que Nous mîmes à bas

And they intended for him a plan, but We made them the most debased

وَقَالَ إِنِّے ذَاهِبٌ اِلَىٰ رَبِّے سَيَهْدِينِۖ ﱢ

Waqâla innî dhâhibuni lâ rabbî sayahdîn

Et il dit: «Moi, je pars vers mon Seigneur et Il me guidera

And [then] he said, "Indeed, I will go to [where I am ordered by] my Lord; He will guide me

رَبِّ هَبْ لِے مِنَ اَ۬لصَّٰلِحِينَۖ ﱣ

Rabbi hab lî mina ssâlihîn

Seigneur, fais-moi don d'une [progéniture] d'entre les vertueux»

My Lord, grant me [a child] from among the righteous

فَبَشَّرْنَٰهُ بِغُلَٰمٍ حَلِيمٖۖ ﱤ

Fabashsharnâhu bighulâmin halîm

Nous lui fîmes donc la bonne annonce d'un garçon (Ismaël) longanime

So We gave him good tidings of a forbearing boy

فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ مَعَهُ اُ۬لسَّعْيَ قَالَ يَٰبُنَيِّ إِنِّيَ أَر۪ىٰ فِے اِ۬لْمَنَامِ أَنِّيَ أَذْبَحُكَ فَانظُرْ مَاذَا تَر۪ىٰۖ قَالَ يَٰٓأَبَتِ اِ۪فْعَلْ مَا تُومَرُۖ سَتَجِدُنِيَ إِن شَآءَ اَ۬للَّهُ مِنَ اَ۬لصَّٰبِرِينَۖ ﱥ

Falammâ balagha ma‘ahu ssa‘ya qâla yâbunayyi inniya arê fî lmanâmi anniya adhbahuka fânzur mâdhâ tarê qâla yâ'abati f‘al mâ tûmaru satajiduniya in shâ'a llâhu mina ssâbirîn

Puis quand celui-ci fut en âge de l'accompagner, [Abraham] dit: «O mon fils, je me vois en songe en train de t'immoler. Vois donc ce que tu en penses». (Ismaël) dit: «O mon cher père, fais ce qui t'es commandé: tu me trouveras, s'il plaît à Allah, du nombre des endurants»

And when he reached with him [the age of] exertion, he said, "O my son, indeed I have seen in a dream that I [must] sacrifice you, so see what you think." He said, "O my father, do as you are commanded. You will find me, if Allah wills, of the steadfast

فَلَمَّآ أَسْلَمَا وَتَلَّهُۥ لِلْجَبِينِ ﱦ

Falammâ aslamâ watallahû liljabîn

Puis quand tous deux se furent soumis (à l'ordre d'Allah) et qu'il l'eut jeté sur le front

And when they had both submitted and he put him down upon his forehead

وَنَٰدَيْنَٰهُ أَنْ يَّٰٓإِبْرَٰهِيمُ ﱧ

Wanâdaynâhu ay ya'ibrâhîm

voilà que Nous l'appelâmes «Abraham

We called to him, "O Abraham

قَدْ صَدَّقْتَ اَ۬لرُّءْي۪آۖ إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِے اِ۬لْمُحْسِنِينَۖ ﱨ

Qad saddaqta rru'yê innâ kadhâlika najzî lmuhsinîn

Tu as confirmé la vision. C'est ainsi que Nous récompensons les bienfaisants»

You have fulfilled the vision." Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good

إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَهُوَ اَ۬لْبَلَٰٓؤُاْ اُ۬لْمُبِينُۖ ﱩ

Inna hâdhâ lahuwa lbalâ'u lmubîn

C'était là certes, l'épreuve manifeste

Indeed, this was the clear trial

وَفَدَيْنَٰهُ بِذِبْحٍ عَظِيمٖۖ ﱪ

Wafadaynâhu bidhibhin ‘azîm

Et Nous le rançonnâmes d'une immolation généreuse

And We ransomed him with a great sacrifice

وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِے اِ۬لَاخِرِينَۖ ﱫ

Wataraknâ ‘alayhi fî lakhirîn

Et Nous perpétuâmes son renom dans la postérité

And We left for him [favorable mention] among later generations

سَلَٰمٌ عَلَىٰٓ إِبْرَٰهِيمَۖ ﱬ

Salâmun ‘alâ ibrâhîm

«Paix sur Abraham»

Peace upon Abraham

كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِے اِ۬لْمُحْسِنِينَۖ ﱭ

Kadhâlika najzî lmuhsinîn

Ainsi récompensons-Nous les bienfaisants

Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good

إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا اَ۬لْمُومِنِينَۖ ﱮ

Innahû min ‘ibâdinâ lmûminîn

car il était de Nos serviteurs croyants

Indeed, he was of Our believing servants

وَبَشَّرْنَٰهُ بِإِسْحَٰقَ نَبِيٓـٔاٗ مِّنَ اَ۬لصَّٰلِحِينَ ﱯ

Wabashsharnâhu bi'ishâqa nabî'am mina ssâlihîn

Nous lui fîmes la bonne annonce d'Isaac comme prophète d'entre les gens vertueux

And We gave him good tidings of Isaac, a prophet from among the righteous

وَبَٰرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَىٰٓ إِسْحَٰقَۖ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِهِمَا مُحْسِنٞ وَظَالِمٞ لِّنَفْسِهِۦ مُبِينٞۖ ﱰ

Wabâraknâ ‘alayhi wa‘alâ ishâqa wamin dhurriyyatihimâ muhsinun wazâlimul linafsihî mubîn

Et Nous le bénîmes ainsi que Isaac. Parmi leurs descendances il y a [l'homme] de bien et celui qui est manifestement injuste envers lui-même

And We blessed him and Isaac. But among their descendants is the doer of good and the clearly unjust to himself

۞ وَلَقَدْ مَنَنَّا عَلَىٰ مُوس۪ىٰ وَهَٰرُونَ ﱱ

Walaqad manannâ ‘alâ mûsê wahârûn

Et Nous accordâmes certes à Moïse et Aaron des faveurs

And We did certainly confer favor upon Moses and Aaron

وَنَجَّيْنَٰهُمَا وَقَوْمَهُمَا مِنَ اَ۬لْكَرْبِ اِ۬لْعَظِيمِۖ ﱲ

Wanajjaynâhumâ waqawmahumâ mina lkarbi l‘azîm

Et les sauvâmes ainsi que leur peuple, de la grande angoisse

And We saved them and their people from the great affliction

وَنَصَرْنَٰهُمْ فَكَانُواْ هُمُ اُ۬لْغَٰلِبِينَۖ ﱳ

Wanasarnâhum fakânû humu lghâlibîn

et les secourûmes, et ils furent eux les vainqueurs

And We supported them so it was they who overcame

وَءَاتَيْنَٰهُمَا اَ۬لْكِتَٰبَ اَ۬لْمُسْتَبِينَۖ ﱴ

Wa'âtaynâhumâ lkitâba lmustabîn

Et Nous leur apportâmes le livre explicite

And We gave them the explicit Scripture

وَهَدَيْنَٰهُمَا اَ۬لصِّرَٰطَ اَ۬لْمُسْتَقِيمَۖ ﱵ

Wahadaynâhumâ ssirâta lmustaqîm

et les guidâmes vers le droit chemin

And We guided them on the straight path

وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِمَا فِے اِ۬لَاخِرِينَۖ ﱶ

Wataraknâ ‘alayhimâ fî lakhirîn

Et Nous perpétuâmes leur renom dans la postérité

And We left for them [favorable mention] among later generations

سَلَٰمٌ عَلَىٰ مُوس۪ىٰ وَهَٰرُونَۖ ﱷ

Salâmun ‘alâ mûsê wahârûn

«Paix sur Moïse et Aaron»

Peace upon Moses and Aaron

إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِے اِ۬لْمُحْسِنِينَۖ ﱸ

Innâ kadhâlika najzî lmuhsinîn

Ainsi récompensons-Nous les bienfaisants

Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good

إِنَّهُمَا مِنْ عِبَادِنَا اَ۬لْمُومِنِينَۖ ﱹ

Innahumâ min ‘ibâdinâ lmûminîn

car ils étaient du nombre de Nos serviteurs croyants

Indeed, they were of Our believing servants

وَإِنَّ إِلْيَاسَ لَمِنَ اَ۬لْمُرْسَلِينَ ﱺ

Wa'inna ilyâsa lamina lmursalîn

Elie était, certes, du nombre des Messagers

And indeed, Elias was from among the messengers

إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِۦٓ أَلَا تَتَّقُونَ ﱻ

Idh qâla liqawmihî alâ tattaqûn

Quand il dit à son peuple: «Ne craignez-vous pas [Allah]?»

When he said to his people, "Will you not fear Allah

أَتَدْعُونَ بَعْلاٗ وَتَذَرُونَ أَحْسَنَ اَ۬لْخَٰلِقِينَۖ ﱼ

Atad‘ûna ba‘lan watadharûna ahsana lkhâliqîn

Invoquerez-vous Ball (une idole) et délaisserez-vous le Meilleur des créateurs

Do you call upon Ba'l and leave the best of creators

اَ۬للَّهُ رَبُّكُمْ وَرَبُّ ءَابَآئِكُمُ اُ۬لَاوَّلِينَۖ ﱽ

Allâhu rabbukum warabbu âbâ'ikumu lawwalîn

Allah, votre Seigneur et le Seigneur de vos plus anciens ancêtres?»

Allah, your Lord and the Lord of your first forefathers

فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَإِنَّهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُونَ ﱾ

Fakadhdhabûhu fa'innahum lamuhdarûn

Ils le traitèrent de menteur. Et bien, ils seront emmenées (au châtiment)

And they denied him, so indeed, they will be brought [for punishment]

إِلَّا عِبَادَ اَ۬للَّهِ اِ۬لْمُخْلَصِينَۖ ﱿ

Illâ ‘ibâda llâhi lmukhlasîn

Exception faite des serviteurs élus d'Allah

Except the chosen servants of Allah

وَتَرَكْنَا عَلَيْهِ فِے اِ۬لَاخِرِينَۖ ﲀ

Wataraknâ ‘alayhi fî lakhirîn

Et Nous perpétuâmes son renom dans la postérité

And We left for him [favorable mention] among later generations

سَلَٰمٌ عَلَىٰٓ ءَالِ يَاسِينَۖ ﲁ

Salâmun ‘alâ âli yâsîn

«Paix sur Elie et ses adeptes»

Peace upon Elias

إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِے اِ۬لْمُحْسِنِينَۖ ﲂ

Innâ kadhâlika najzî lmuhsinîn

Ainsi récompensons-Nous les bienfaisants

Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good

إِنَّهُۥ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا اَ۬لْمُومِنِينَۖ ﲃ

Innahû min ‘ibâdinâ lmûminîn

car il était du nombre de Nos serviteurs croyants

Indeed, he was of Our believing servants

وَإِنَّ لُوطاٗ لَّمِنَ اَ۬لْمُرْسَلِينَ ﲄ

Wa'inna lûtal lamina lmursalîn

Et Loût était, certes, du nombre des Messagers

And indeed, Lot was among the messengers

إِذْ نَجَّيْنَٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥٓ أَجْمَعِينَ ﲅ

Idh najjaynâhu wa'ahlahû ajma‘în

Quand Nous le sauvâmes, lui et sa famille, tout entière

[So mention] when We saved him and his family, all

إِلَّا عَجُوزاٗ فِے اِ۬لْغَٰبِرِينَ ﲆ

Illâ ‘ajûzan fî lghâbirîn

sauf une vieille femme qui devait disparaître avec les autres

Except his wife among those who remained [with the evildoers]

ثُمَّ دَمَّرْنَا اَ۬لَاخَرِينَۖ ﲇ

Thumma dammarnâ lakharîn

Et Nous détruisîmes les autres

Then We destroyed the others

وَإِنَّكُمْ لَتَمُرُّونَ عَلَيْهِم مُّصْبِحِينَ ﲈ

Wa'innakum latamurrûna ‘alayhim musbihîn

Et vous passez certainement auprès d'eux le matin

And indeed, you pass by them in the morning

وَبِاليْلِۖ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَۖ ﲉ

Wabiâllayli afalâ ta‘qilûn

et la nuit. Ne raisonnez-vous donc pas

And at night. Then will you not use reason

وَإِنَّ يُونُسَ لَمِنَ اَ۬لْمُرْسَلِينَ ﲊ

Wa'inna yûnusa lamina lmursalîn

Jonas était certes, du nombre des Messagers

And indeed, Jonah was among the messengers

إِذَ اَبَقَ إِلَى اَ۬لْفُلْكِ اِ۬لْمَشْحُونِ ﲋ

Idha baqa ilâ lfulki lmashhûn

Quand il s'enfuit vers le bateau comble

[Mention] when he ran away to the laden ship

فَسَاهَمَ فَكَانَ مِنَ اَ۬لْمُدْحَضِينَ ﲌ

Fasâhama fakâna mina lmudhadîn

Il prit part au tirage au sort qui le désigna pour être jeté [à la mer]

And he drew lots and was among the losers

فَالْتَقَمَهُ اُ۬لْحُوتُ وَهُوَ مُلِيمٞۖ ﲍ

Faltaqamahu lhûtu wahuwa mulîm

Le poisson l'avala alors qu'il était blâmable

Then the fish swallowed him, while he was blameworthy

فَلَوْلَآ أَنَّهُۥ كَانَ مِنَ اَ۬لْمُسَبِّحِينَ ﲎ

Falawlâ annahû kâna mina lmusabbihîn

S'il n'avait pas été parmi ceux qui glorifient Allah

And had he not been of those who exalt Allah

لَلَبِثَ فِے بَطْنِهِۦٓ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَۖ ﲏ

Lalabitha fî batnihî ilâ yawmi yub‘athûn

il serait demeuré dans son ventre jusqu'au jour où l'on sera ressuscité

He would have remained inside its belly until the Day they are resurrected

۞ فَنَبَذْنَٰهُ بِالْعَرَآءِ وَهُوَ سَقِيمٞۖ ﲐ

Fanabadhnâhu bil‘arâ'i wahuwa saqîm

Nous le jetâmes sur la terre nue, indisposé qu'il était

But We threw him onto the open shore while he was ill

وَأَنۢبَتْنَا عَلَيْهِ شَجَرَةٗ مِّنْ يَّقْطِينٖۖ ﲑ

Wa'ambatnâ ‘alayhi shajaratam miy yaqtîn

Et Nous fîmes pousser au-dessus de lui un plant de courge

And We caused to grow over him a gourd vine

وَأَرْسَلْنَٰهُ إِلَىٰ مِاْئَةِ أَلْفٍ اَوْ يَزِيدُونَۖ ﲒ

Wa'arsalnâhu ilâ mî'ati alfina w yazîdûn

et l'envoyâmes ensuite (comme prophète) vers cent mille hommes ou plus

And We sent him to [his people of] a hundred thousand or more

فَـَٔامَنُواْ فَمَتَّعْنَٰهُمُۥٓ إِلَىٰ حِينٖۖ ﲓ

Fa'âmanû famatta‘nâhumû ilâ hîn

Ils crurent, et nous leur donnâmes jouissance de la vie pour un temps

And they believed, so We gave them enjoyment [of life] for a time

فَاسْتَفْتِهِمُۥٓ أَلِرَبِّكَ اَ۬لْبَنَاتُ وَلَهُمُ اُ۬لْبَنُونَۖ ﲔ

Fastaftihimû alirabbika lbanâtu walahumu lbanûn

Pose-leur donc la question: «Ton Seigneur aurait-Il des filles et eux des fils

So inquire of them, [O Muhammad], "Does your Lord have daughters while they have sons

أَمْ خَلَقْنَا اَ۬لْمَلَٰٓئِكَةَ إِنَٰثاٗ وَهُمْ شَٰهِدُونَۖ ﲕ

Am khalaqnâ lmalâ'ikata inâthan wahum shâhidûn

Ou bien avons-Nous créé des Anges de sexe féminin, et en sont-ils témoins?»

Or did We create the angels as females while they were witnesses

أَلَآ إِنَّهُم مِّنِ اِفْكِهِمْ لَيَقُولُونَ ﲖ

Alâ innahum mini fkihim layaqûlûn

Certes, ils disent dans leur mensonge

Unquestionably, it is out of their [invented] falsehood that they say

وَلَدَ اَ۬للَّهُ وَإِنَّهُمْ لَكَٰذِبُونَۖ ﲗ

Walada llâhu wa'innahum lakâdhibûn

«Allah a engendré» mais ce sont certainement des menteurs

Allah has begotten," and indeed, they are liars

أَصْطَفَى اَ۬لْبَنَاتِ عَلَى اَ۬لْبَنِينَۖ ﲘ

Astafâ lbanâti ‘alâ lbanîn

Aurait-Il choisi des filles de préférence à des fils

Has He chosen daughters over sons

مَا لَكُمْۖ كَيْفَ تَحْكُمُونَۖ ﲙ

Mâ lakum kayfa tahkumûn

Qu'avez-vous donc à juger ainsi

What is [wrong] with you? How do you make judgement

أَفَلَا تَذَّكَّرُونَۖ ﲚ

Afalâ tadhdhakkarûn

Ne réfléchissez-vous donc pas

Then will you not be reminded

أَمْ لَكُمْ سُلْطَٰنٞ مُّبِينٞ ﲛ

Am lakum sultânum mubîn

Ou avez-vous un argument évident

Or do you have a clear authority

فَاتُواْ بِكِتَٰبِكُمُۥٓ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَۖ ﲜ

Fâtû bikitâbikumû in kuntum sâdiqîn

Apportez donc votre Livre si vous êtes véridiques!»

Then produce your scripture, if you should be truthful

وَجَعَلُواْ بَيْنَهُۥ وَبَيْنَ اَ۬لْجِنَّةِ نَسَباٗۖ وَلَقَدْ عَلِمَتِ اِ۬لْجِنَّةُ إِنَّهُمْ لَمُحْضَرُونَۖ ﲝ

Waja‘alû baynahû wabayna ljinnati nasaban walaqad ‘alimati ljinnatu innahum lamuhdarûn

Et ils ont établi entre Lui et les djinns une parenté, alors que les djinns savent bien qu'ils [les mécréants] vont être emmenés (pour le châtiment)

And they have claimed between Him and the jinn a lineage, but the jinn have already known that they [who made such claims] will be brought to [punishment]

سُبْحَٰنَ اَ۬للَّهِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَۖ ﲞ

Subhâna llâhi ‘ammâ yasifûn

Gloire à Allah. Il est au-dessus de ce qu'ils décrivent

Exalted is Allah above what they describe

إِلَّا عِبَادَ اَ۬للَّهِ اِ۬لْمُخْلَصِينَۖ ﲟ

Illâ ‘ibâda llâhi lmukhlasîn

Exception faite des serviteurs élus d'Allah

Except the chosen servants of Allah [who do not share in that sin]

فَإِنَّكُمْ وَمَا تَعْبُدُونَ ﲠ

Fa'innakum wamâ ta‘budûn

En vérité, vous et tout ce que vous adorez

So indeed, you [disbelievers] and whatever you worship

مَآ أَنتُمْ عَلَيْهِ بِفَٰتِنِينَ ﲡ

Mâ antum ‘alayhi bifâtinîn

ne pourrez tenter [personne]

You cannot tempt [anyone] away from Him

إِلَّا مَنْ هُوَ صَالِ اِ۬لْجَحِيمِۖ ﲢ

Illâ man huwa sâli ljahîm

excepté celui qui sera brûlé dans la Fournaise

Except he who is to [enter and] burn in the Hellfire

وَمَا مِنَّآ إِلَّا لَهُۥ مَقَامٞ مَّعْلُومٞۖ ﲣ

Wamâ minnâ illâ lahû maqâmum ma‘lûm

Il n'y en a pas un, parmi nous, qui n'ait une place connue

[The angels say], "There is not among us any except that he has a known position

وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ اُ۬لصَّآفُّونَ ﲤ

Wa'innâ lanahnu ssâffûn

nous sommes certes, les rangés en rangs

And indeed, we are those who line up [for prayer]

وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ اُ۬لْمُسَبِّحُونَۖ ﲥ

Wa'innâ lanahnu lmusabbihûn

et c'est nous certes, qui célébrons la gloire [d'Allah]

And indeed, we are those who exalt Allah

وَإِن كَانُواْ لَيَقُولُونَ ﲦ

Wa'in kânû layaqûlûn

Même s'ils disaient

And indeed, the disbelievers used to say

لَوَ اَنَّ عِندَنَا ذِكْراٗ مِّنَ اَ۬لَاوَّلِينَ ﲧ

Lawa nna ‘indanâ dhikram mina lawwalîn

«Si nous avions eu un Rappel de [nos] ancêtres

If we had a message from [those of] the former peoples

لَكُنَّا عِبَادَ اَ۬للَّهِ اِ۬لْمُخْلَصِينَۖ ﲨ

Lakunnâ ‘ibâda llâhi lmukhlasîn

nous aurions été certes les serviteurs élus d'Allah

We would have been the chosen servants of Allah

فَكَفَرُواْ بِهِۦۖ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَۖ ﲩ

Fakafarû bihî fasawfa ya‘lamûn

Ils y ont mécru et ils sauront bientôt

But they disbelieved in it, so they are going to know

وَلَقَدْ سَبَقَتْ كَلِمَتُنَا لِعِبَادِنَا اَ۬لْمُرْسَلِينَ ﲪ

Walaqad sabaqat kalimatunâ li‘ibâdinâ lmursalîn

En effet, Notre Parole a déjà été donnée à Nos serviteurs, les Messagers

And Our word has already preceded for Our servants, the messengers

إِنَّهُمْ لَهُمُ اُ۬لْمَنصُورُونَ ﲫ

Innahum lahumu lmansûrûn

que ce sont eux qui seront secourus

[That] indeed, they would be those given victory

وَإِنَّ جُندَنَا لَهُمُ اُ۬لْغَٰلِبُونَۖ ﲬ

Wa'inna jundanâ lahumu lghâlibûn

et que Nos soldats auront le dessus

And [that] indeed, Our soldiers will be those who overcome

فَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ حِينٖۖ ﲭ

Fatawalla ‘anhum hattâ hîn

Eloigne-toi d'eux, jusqu'à un certain temps

So, [O Muhammad], leave them for a time

وَأَبْصِرْهُمْ فَسَوْفَ يُبْصِرُونَۖ ﲮ

Wa'absirhum fasawfa yubsirûn

et observe-les: ils verront bientôt

And see [what will befall] them, for they are going to see

أَفَبِعَذَابِنَا يَسْتَعْجِلُونَۖ ﲯ

Afabi‘adhâbinâ yasta‘jilûn

Quoi! est-ce Notre châtiment qu'ils cherchent à hâter

Then for Our punishment are they impatient

فَإِذَا نَزَلَ بِسَاحَتِهِمْ فَسَآءَ صَبَاحُ اُ۬لْمُنذَرِينَۖ ﲰ

Fa'idhâ nazala bisâhatihim fasâ'a sabâhu lmundharîn

Quand il tombera dans leur place, ce sera alors un mauvais matin pour ceux qu'on a avertis

But when it descends in their territory, then evil is the morning of those who were warned

وَتَوَلَّ عَنْهُمْ حَتَّىٰ حِينٖۖ ﲱ

Watawalla ‘anhum hattâ hîn

Et éloigne-toi d'eux jusqu'à un certain temps

And leave them for a time

وَأَبْصِرْ فَسَوْفَ يُبْصِرُونَۖ ﲲ

Wa'absir fasawfa yubsirûn

et observe; ils verront bientôt

And see, for they are going to see

سُبْحَٰنَ رَبِّكَ رَبِّ اِ۬لْعِزَّةِ عَمَّا يَصِفُونَۖ ﲳ

Subhâna rabbika rabbi l‘izzati ‘ammâ yasifûn

Gloire à ton Seigneur, le Seigneur de la puissance. Il est au-dessus de ce qu'ils décrivent

Exalted is your Lord, the Lord of might, above what they describe

وَسَلَٰمٌ عَلَى اَ۬لْمُرْسَلِينَۖ ﲴ

Wasalâmun ‘alâ lmursalîn

Et paix sur les Messagers

And peace upon the messengers

وَالْحَمْدُ لِلهِ رَبِّ اِ۬لْعَٰلَمِينَۖ ﲵ

Walhamdu lillâhi rabbi l‘âlamîn

et louange à Allah, Seigneur de l'univers

And praise to Allah, Lord of the worlds
