قَٓۖ وَالْقُرْءَانِ اِ۬لْمَجِيدِ ﰀ

Qâf walqur'âni lmajîd

Qâf. Par le Coran glorieux

Qaf. By the honored Qur'an

بَلْ عَجِبُوٓاْ أَن جَآءَهُم مُّنذِرٞ مِّنْهُمْ فَقَالَ اَ۬لْكَٰفِرُونَ هَٰذَا شَےْءٌ عَجِيبٌ ﰁ

Bal ‘ajibû an jâ'ahum mundhirum minhum faqâla lkâfirûna hâdhâ shay'un ‘ajîb

Mais ils s'étonnent que l'un des leurs leur vint comme avertisseur; et les mécréants dirent: «Ceci est une chose étonnante

But they wonder that there has come to them a warner from among themselves, and the disbelievers say, "This is an amazing thing

اَ۟ذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَاباٗ ذَٰلِكَ رَجْعُۢ بَعِيدٞۖ ﰂ

Idhâ mitnâ wakunnâ turâban dhâlika raj‘um ba‘îd

Quoi! Quand nous serons morts et réduits en poussière...? Ce serait revenir de loin!»

When we have died and have become dust, [we will return to life]? That is a distant return

قَدْ عَلِمْنَا مَا تَنقُصُ اُ۬لَارْضُ مِنْهُمْ وَعِندَنَا كِتَٰبٌ حَفِيظُۢۖ ﰃ

Qad ‘alimnâ mâ tanqusu lardu minhum wa‘indanâ kitâbun hafîz

Certes, Nous savons ce que la terre rongera d'eux [de leurs corps]; et Nous avons un Livre où tout est conservé

We know what the earth diminishes of them, and with Us is a retaining record

بَلْ كَذَّبُواْ بِالْحَقِّ لَمَّا جَآءَهُمْ فَهُمْ فِےٓ أَمْرٖ مَّرِيجٍۖ ﰄ

Bal kadhdhabû bilhaqqi lammâ jâ'ahum fahum fî amrim marîj

Plutôt, ils traitent de mensonge la vérité qui leur est venue: les voilà donc dans une situation confuse

But they denied the truth when it came to them, so they are in a confused condition

اَفَلَمْ يَنظُرُوٓاْ إِلَى اَ۬لسَّمَآءِ فَوْقَهُمْ كَيْفَ بَنَيْنَٰهَا وَزَيَّنَّٰهَا وَمَا لَهَا مِن فُرُوجٖۖ ﰅ

Afalam yanzurû ilâ ssamâ'i fawqahum kayfa banaynâhâ wazayyannâhâ wamâ lahâ min furûj

N'ont-ils donc pas observé le ciel au-dessus d'eux, comment Nous l'avons bâti et embelli; et comment il est sans fissures

Have they not looked at the heaven above them - how We structured it and adorned it and [how] it has no rifts

وَالَارْضَ مَدَدْنَٰهَا وَأَلْقَيْنَا فِيهَا رَوَٰسِيَ وَأَنۢبَتْنَا فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ زَوْجِۢ بَهِيجٖ ﰆ

Walarda madadnâhâ wa'alqaynâ fîhâ rawâsiya wa'ambatnâ fîhâ min kulli zawjim bahîj

Et la terre, Nous l'avons étendue et Nous y avons enfoncé fermement des montagnes et y avons fait pousser toutes sortes de magnifiques couples de [végétaux]

And the earth - We spread it out and cast therein firmly set mountains and made grow therein [something] of every beautiful kind

تَبْصِرَةٗ وَذِكْر۪ىٰ لِكُلِّ عَبْدٖ مُّنِيبٖۖ ﰇ

Tabsiratan wadhikrê likulli ‘abdim munîb

à titre d'appel à la clairvoyance et un rappel pour tout serviteur repentant

Giving insight and a reminder for every servant who turns [to Allah]

۞ وَنَزَّلْنَا مِنَ اَ۬لسَّمَآءِ مَآءٗ مُّبَٰرَكاٗ فَأَنۢبَتْنَا بِهِۦ جَنَّٰتٖ وَحَبَّ اَ۬لْحَصِيدِ ﰈ

Wanazzalnâ mina ssamâ'i mâ'am mubârakan fa'ambatnâ bihî jannâtin wahabba lhasîd

Et Nous avons fait descendre du ciel une eau bénie, avec laquelle Nous avons fait pousser des jardins et le grain qu'on moissonne

And We have sent down blessed rain from the sky and made grow thereby gardens and grain from the harvest

وَالنَّخْلَ بَاسِقَٰتٖ لَّهَا طَلْعٞ نَّضِيدٞ ﰉ

Wannakhla bâsiqâtil lahâ tal‘un nadîd

ainsi que les hauts palmiers aux régimes superposés

And lofty palm trees having fruit arranged in layers

رِّزْقاٗ لِّلْعِبَادِۖ وَأَحْيَيْنَا بِهِۦ بَلْدَةٗ مَّيْتاٗۖ كَذَٰلِكَ اَ۬لْخُرُوجُۖ ﰊ

Rizqal lil‘ibâdi wa'ahyaynâ bihî baldatam maytan kadhâlika lkhurûj

comme subsistance pour les serviteurs. Et par elle (l'eau) Nous avons redonné la vie à une contrée morte. Ainsi se fera la résurrection

As provision for the servants, and We have given life thereby to a dead land. Thus is the resurrection

كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٖ وَأَصْحَٰبُ اُ۬لرَّسِّ وَثَمُودُ ﰋ

Kadhdhabat qablahum qawmu nûhin wa'ashâbu rrassi wathamûd

Avant eux, le peuple de Noé, les gens d'Ar-Rass et les Thamûd crièrent au mensonge

The people of Noah denied before them, and the companions of the well and Thamud

وَعَادٞ وَفِرْعَوْنُ وَإِخْوَٰنُ لُوطٖ ﰌ

Wa‘âdun wafir‘awnu wa'ikhwânu lût

de même que les 'Aad et Pharaon et les frères de Lot

And 'Aad and Pharaoh and the brothers of Lot

وَأَصْحَٰبُ اُ۬لَايْكَةِ وَقَوْمُ تُبَّعٖۖ كُلّٞ كَذَّبَ اَ۬لرُّسُلَ فَحَقَّ وَعِيدِۦٓۖ ﰍ

Wa'ashâbu laykati waqawmu tubba‘in kullun kadhdhaba rrusula fahaqqa wa‘îdî

et les gens d'Al-Aykah et le peuple de Tubba'. Tous traitèrent les Messagers de menteurs. C'est ainsi que Ma menace se justifia

And the companions of the thicket and the people of Tubba'. All denied the messengers, so My threat was justly fulfilled

أَفَعَيِينَا بِالْخَلْقِ اِ۬لَاوَّلِۖ بَلْ هُمْ فِے لَبْسٖ مِّنْ خَلْقٖ جَدِيدٖۖ ﰎ

Afa‘ayînâ bilkhalqi lawwali bal hum fî labsim min khalqin jadîd

Quoi? Avons-Nous été fatigué par la première création? Mais ils sont dans la confusion [au sujet] d'une création nouvelle

Did We fail in the first creation? But they are in confusion over a new creation

وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا اَ۬لِانسَٰنَ وَنَعْلَمُ مَا تُوَسْوِسُ بِهِۦ نَفْسُهُۥ وَنَحْنُ أَقْرَبُ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ حَبْلِ اِ۬لْوَرِيدِۖ ﰏ

Walaqad khalaqnâ linsâna wana‘lamu mâ tuwaswisu bihî nafsuhû wanahnu aqrabu ilayhi min habli lwarîd

Nous avons effectivement créé l'homme et Nous savons ce que son âme lui suggère et Nous sommes plus près de lui que sa veine jugulaire

And We have already created man and know what his soul whispers to him, and We are closer to him than [his] jugular vein

إِذْ يَتَلَقَّى اَ۬لْمُتَلَقِّيَٰنِ عَنِ اِ۬لْيَمِينِ وَعَنِ اِ۬لشِّمَالِ قَعِيدٞۖ ﰐ

Idh yatalaqqâ lmutalaqqiyâni ‘ani lyamîni wa‘ani shshimâli qa‘îd

quand les deux recueillants, assis à droite et à gauche, recueillent

When the two receivers receive, seated on the right and on the left

مَّا يَلْفِظُ مِن قَوْلٍ اِلَّا لَدَيْهِ رَقِيبٌ عَتِيدٞۖ ﰑ

Mâ yalfizu min qawlini llâ ladayhi raqîbun ‘atîd

Il ne prononce pas une parole sans avoir auprès de lui un observateur prêt à l'inscrire

Man does not utter any word except that with him is an observer prepared [to record]

وَجَآءَتْ سَكْرَةُ اُ۬لْمَوْتِ بِالْحَقِّۖ ذَٰلِكَ مَا كُنتَ مِنْهُ تَحِيدُۖ ﰒ

Wajâ'at sakratu lmawti bilhaqqi dhâlika mâ kunta minhu tahîd

L'agonie de la mort fait apparaître la vérité: «Voilà ce dont tu t'écartais»

And the intoxication of death will bring the truth; that is what you were trying to avoid

وَنُفِخَ فِے اِ۬لصُّورِۖ ذَٰلِكَ يَوْمُ اُ۬لْوَعِيدِۖ ﰓ

Wanufikha fî ssûri dhâlika yawmu lwa‘îd

Et l'on soufflera dans la Trompe: Voilà le jour de la Menace

And the Horn will be blown. That is the Day of [carrying out] the threat

وَجَآءَتْ كُلُّ نَفْسٖ مَّعَهَا سَآئِقٞ وَشَهِيدٞۖ ﰔ

Wajâ'at kullu nafsim ma‘ahâ sâ'iqun washahîd

Alors chaque âme viendra accompagnée d'un conducteur et d'un témoin

And every soul will come, with it a driver and a witness

لَّقَدْ كُنتَ فِے غَفْلَةٖ مِّنْ هَٰذَا فَكَشَفْنَا عَنكَ غِطَآءَكَ فَبَصَرُكَ اَ۬لْيَوْمَ حَدِيدٞۖ ﰕ

Laqad kunta fî ghaflatim min hâdhâ fakashafnâ ‘anka ghitâ'aka fabasaruka lyawma hadîd

«Tu restais indifférent à cela. Et bien, Nous ôtons ton voile; ta vue est perçante aujourd'hui

[It will be said], "You were certainly in unmindfulness of this, and We have removed from you your cover, so your sight, this Day, is sharp

وَقَالَ قَرِينُهُۥ هَٰذَا مَا لَدَيَّ عَتِيدٌۖ ﰖ

Waqâla qarînuhû hâdhâ mâ ladayya ‘atîd

Et son compagnon dira: «Voilà ce qui est avec moi, tout prêt»

And his companion, [the angel], will say, "This [record] is what is with me, prepared

اَلْقِيَا فِے جَهَنَّمَ كُلَّ كَفّ۪ارٍ عَنِيدٖ ﰗ

Alqiyâ fî jahannama kulla kaffêrin ‘anîd

«Vous deux, jetez dans l'Enfer tout mécréant endurci et rebelle

[Allah will say], "Throw into Hell every obstinate disbeliever

مَّنَّاعٖ لِّلْخَيْرِ مُعْتَدٖ مُّرِيبٍ ﰘ

Mannâ‘il lilkhayri mu‘tadim murîb

acharné à empêcher le bien, transgresseur, douteur

Preventer of good, aggressor, and doubter

اِ۬لذِے جَعَلَ مَعَ اَ۬للَّهِ إِلَٰهاً اٰخَرَ فَأَلْقِيَٰهُ فِے اِ۬لْعَذَابِ اِ۬لشَّدِيدِۖ ﰙ

Alladhî ja‘ala ma‘a llâhi ilâhan âkhara fa'alqiyâhu fî l‘adhâbi shshadîd

celui qui plaçait à côté d'Allah une autre divinité. Jetez-le donc dans le dur châtiment»

Who made [as equal] with Allah another deity; then throw him into the severe punishment

۞ قَالَ قَرِينُهُۥ رَبَّنَا مَآ أَطْغَيْتُهُۥ وَلَٰكِن كَانَ فِے ضَلَٰلِۢ بَعِيدٖۖ ﰚ

Qâla qarînuhû rabbanâ mâ atghaytuhû walâkin kâna fî dalâlim ba‘îd

Son camarade (le Diable) dira: «Seigneur, ce n'est pas moi qui l'ai fait transgresser; mais il était déjà dans un profond égarement»

His [devil] companion will say, "Our Lord, I did not make him transgress, but he [himself] was in extreme error

قَالَ لَا تَخْتَصِمُواْ لَدَيَّ وَقَدْ قَدَّمْتُ إِلَيْكُم بِالْوَعِيدِۖ ﰛ

Qâla lâ takhtasimû ladayya waqad qaddamtu ilaykum bilwa‘îd

Alors [Allah] dira:«Ne vous disputez pas devant moi! Alors que Je vous ai déjà fait part de la menace

[Allah] will say, "Do not dispute before Me, while I had already presented to you the warning

مَا يُبَدَّلُ اُ۬لْقَوْلُ لَدَيَّ وَمَآ أَنَا بِظَلَّٰمٖ لِّلْعَبِيدِۖ ﰜ

Mâ yubaddalu lqawlu ladayya wamâ anâ bizallâmil lil‘abîd

Chez Moi, la parole ne change pas; et Je n'opprime nullement les serviteurs»

The word will not be changed with Me, and never will I be unjust to the servants

يَوْمَ يَقُولُ لِجَهَنَّمَ هَلِ اِ۪مْتَلَأْتِ وَتَقُولُ هَلْ مِن مَّزِيدٖۖ ﰝ

Yawma yaqûlu lijahannama hali mtala'ti wataqûlu hal mim mazîd

Le jour où Nous dirons à l'Enfer; «Es-tu rempli?» Il dira: «Y en a-t-il encore?»

On the Day We will say to Hell, "Have you been filled?" and it will say, "Are there some more

وَأُزْلِفَتِ اِ۬لْجَنَّةُ لِلْمُتَّقِينَ غَيْرَ بَعِيدٍۖ ﰞ

Wa'uzlifati ljannatu lilmuttaqîna ghayra ba‘îd

Le Paradis sera rapproché à proximité des pieux

And Paradise will be brought near to the righteous, not far

هَٰذَا مَا تُوعَدُونَ لِكُلِّ أَوَّابٍ حَفِيظٖۖ ﰟ

Hâdhâ mâ tû‘adûna likulli awwâbin hafîz

«Voilà ce qui vous a été promis, [ainsi qu'] à tout homme plein de repentir et respectueux [des prescriptions divines]

[It will be said], "This is what you were promised - for every returner [to Allah] and keeper [of His covenant]

مَّنْ خَشِيَ اَ۬لرَّحْمَٰنَ بِالْغَيْبِ وَجَآءَ بِقَلْبٖ مُّنِيبٍ ﰠ

Man khashiya rrahmâna bilghaybi wajâ'a biqalbim munîb

qui redoute le Tout Miséricordieux bien qu'il ne Le voit pas, et qui vient [vers Lui] avec un cœur porté à l'obéissance

Who feared the Most Merciful unseen and came with a heart returning [in repentance]

اُ۟دْخُلُوهَا بِسَلَٰمٖۖ ذَٰلِكَ يَوْمُ اُ۬لْخُلُودِۖ ﰡ

Udkhulûhâ bisalâmin dhâlika yawmu lkhulûd

Entrez-y en toute sécurité,». Voilà le jour de l'éternité

Enter it in peace. This is the Day of Eternity

لَهُم مَّا يَشَآءُونَ فِيهَاۖ وَلَدَيْنَا مَزِيدٞۖ ﰢ

Lahum mâ yashâ'ûna fîhâ waladaynâ mazîd

Il y aura là pour eux tout ce qu'ils voudront. Et auprès de Nous il y a davantage encore

They will have whatever they wish therein, and with Us is more

وَكَمَ اَهْلَكْنَا قَبْلَهُم مِّن قَرْنٍ هُمُۥٓ أَشَدُّ مِنْهُم بَطْشاٗ فَنَقَّبُواْ فِے اِ۬لْبِلَٰدِۖ هَلْ مِن مَّحِيصٍۖ ﰣ

Wakama hlaknâ qablahum min qarnin humû ashaddu minhum batshan fanaqqabû fî lbilâdi hal mim mahîs

combien avons-Nous fait périr, avant eux, de générations bien plus fortes qu'eux. Ils avaient parcouru les contrées, cherchant [vainement] où fuir

And how many a generation before them did We destroy who were greater than them in [striking] power and had explored throughout the lands. Is there any place of escape

اِنَّ فِے ذَٰلِكَ لَذِكْر۪ىٰ لِمَن كَانَ لَهُۥ قَلْبٌ اَوَ اَلْقَى اَ۬لسَّمْعَ وَهُوَ شَهِيدٞۖ ﰤ

Inna fî dhâlika ladhikrê liman kâna lahû qalbuna wa lqâ ssam‘a wahuwa shahîd

Il y a bien là un rappel pour quiconque a un cœur, prête l'oreille tout en étant témoin

Indeed in that is a reminder for whoever has a heart or who listens while he is present [in mind]

وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا اَ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالَارْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا فِے سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٖ وَمَا مَسَّنَا مِن لُّغُوبٖۖ ﰥ

Walaqad khalaqnâ ssamâwâti walarda wamâ baynahumâ fî sittati ayyâmin wamâ massanâ mil lughûb

En effet Nous avons créé les cieux et la terre et ce qui existe entre eux en six jours, sans éprouver la moindre lassitude

And We did certainly create the heavens and earth and what is between them in six days, and there touched Us no weariness

فَاصْبِرْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَقُولُونَۖ وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ قَبْلَ طُلُوعِ اِ۬لشَّمْسِ وَقَبْلَ اَ۬لْغُرُوبِۖ ﰦ

Fasbir ‘alâ mâ yaqûlûna wasabbih bihamdi rabbika qabla tulû‘i shshamsi waqabla lghurûb

Endure donc ce qu'ils disent; et célèbre la louange de ton Seigneur avant le lever du soleil et avant [son] coucher

So be patient, [O Muhammad], over what they say and exalt [Allah] with praise of your Lord before the rising of the sun and before its setting

وَمِنَ اَ۬ليْلِ فَسَبِّحْهُ وَإِدْبَٰرَ اَ۬لسُّجُودِۖ ﰧ

Wamina llayli fasabbihhu wa'idbâra ssujûd

et célèbre Sa gloire, une partie de la nuit et à la suite des prosternations [prières]

And [in part] of the night exalt Him and after prostration

وَاسْتَمِعْ يَوْمَ يُنَادِ اِ۬لْمُنَادِۦ مِن مَّكَانٖ قَرِيبٖ ﰨ

Wastami‘ yawma yunâdi lmunâdî mim makânin qarîb

Et sois à l'écoute, le jour où le Crieur criera d'un endroit proche

And listen on the Day when the Caller will call out from a place that is near

يَوْمَ يَسْمَعُونَ اَ۬لصَّيْحَةَ بِالْحَقِّۖ ذَٰلِكَ يَوْمُ اُ۬لْخُرُوجِۖ ﰩ

Yawma yasma‘ûna ssayhata bilhaqqi dhâlika yawmu lkhurûj

le jour où ils entendront en toute vérité le Cri. Voilà le Jour de la Résurrection

The Day they will hear the blast [of the Horn] in truth. That is the Day of Emergence [from the graves]

إِنَّا نَحْنُ نُحْيِۦ وَنُمِيتُ وَإِلَيْنَا اَ۬لْمَصِيرُۖ ﰪ

Innâ nahnu nuhyî wanumîtu wa'ilaynâ lmasîr

C'est Nous qui donnons la vie et donnons la mort, et vers Nous sera la destination

Indeed, it is We who give life and cause death, and to Us is the destination

يَوْمَ تَشَّقَّقُ اُ۬لَارْضُ عَنْهُمْ سِرَاعاٗۖ ذَٰلِكَ حَشْرٌ عَلَيْنَا يَسِيرٞۖ ﰫ

Yawma tashshaqqaqu lardu ‘anhum sirâ‘an dhâlika hashrun ‘alaynâ yasîr

le jour où la terre se fendra, les [rejetant] précipitamment. Ce sera un rassemblement facile pour Nous

On the Day the earth breaks away from them [and they emerge] rapidly; that is a gathering easy for Us

نَّحْنُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يَقُولُونَۖ وَمَآ أَنتَ عَلَيْهِم بِجَبّ۪ارٖۖ فَذَكِّرْ بِالْقُرْءَانِ مَنْ يَّخَافُ وَعِيدِۦۖ ﰬ

Nahnu a‘lamu bimâ yaqûlûna wamâ anta ‘alayhim bijabbêrin fadhakkir bilqur'âni may yakhâfu wa‘îdî

Nous savons mieux ce qu'ils disent. Tu n'as pas pour mission d'exercer sur eux une contrainte. Rappelle donc, par le Coran celui qui craint Ma menace

We are most knowing of what they say, and you are not over them a tyrant. But remind by the Qur'an whoever fears My threat
