وَالْمُرْسَلَٰتِ عُرْفاٗ ﰀ

Walmursalâti ‘urfâ

Par ceux qu'on envoie en rafales

By those [winds] sent forth in gusts

فَالْعَٰصِفَٰتِ عَصْفاٗ ﰁ

Fal‘âsifâti ‘asfâ

et qui soufflent en tempête

And the winds that blow violently

وَالنَّٰشِرَٰتِ نَشْراٗ ﰂ

Wannâshirâti nashrâ

Et qui dispersent largement [dans toutes les directions]

And [by] the winds that spread [clouds]

فَالْفَٰرِقَٰتِ فَرْقاٗ ﰃ

Falfâriqâti farqâ

Par ceux qui séparent nettement (le bien et le mal)

And those [angels] who bring criterion

فَالْمُلْقِيَٰتِ ذِكْراً ﰄ

Falmulqiyâti dhikrâ

et lancent un rappel

And those [angels] who deliver a message

عُذْراً اَوْ نُذُراً ﰅ

‘udhrana w nudhurâ

en guise d'excuse ou d'avertissement

As justification or warning

اِنَّمَا تُوعَدُونَ لَوَٰقِعٞۖ ﰆ

Innamâ tû‘adûna lawâqi‘

Ce qui vous est promis est inéluctable

Indeed, what you are promised is to occur

فَإِذَا اَ۬لنُّجُومُ طُمِسَتْ ﰇ

Fa'idhâ nnujûmu tumisat

Quand donc les étoiles seront effacées

So when the stars are obliterated

وَإِذَا اَ۬لسَّمَآءُ فُرِجَتْ ﰈ

Wa'idhâ ssamâ'u furijat

et que le ciel sera fendu

And when the heaven is opened

وَإِذَا اَ۬لْجِبَالُ نُسِفَتْ ﰉ

Wa'idhâ ljibâlu nusifat

et que les montagnes seront pulvérisées

And when the mountains are blown away

وَإِذَا اَ۬لرُّسُلُ أُقِّتَتْ ﰊ

Wa'idhâ rrusulu uqqitat

et que le moment (pour la réunion) des Messagers a été fixé

And when the messengers' time has come

لِأَيِّ يَوْمٍ ا۟جِّلَتْ ﰋ

Li'ayyi yawmin ujjilat

A quel jour tout cela a-t-il été renvoyé

For what Day was it postponed

لِيَوْمِ اِ۬لْفَصْلِۖ ﰌ

Liyawmi lfasl

Au Jour de la Décision. [le Jugement]

For the Day of Judgement

وَمَآ أَدْر۪يٰكَ مَا يَوْمُ اُ۬لْفَصْلِۖ ﰍ

Wamâ adrêka mâ yawmu lfasl

Et qui te dira ce qu'est le Jour de la Décision

And what can make you know what is the Day of Judgement

وَيْلٞ يَوْمَئِذٖ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَۖ ﰎ

Waylun yawma'idhil lilmukadhdhibîn

Malheur, ce jour-là, à ceux qui criaient au mensonge

Woe, that Day, to the deniers

۞ أَلَمْ نُهْلِكِ اِ۬لَاوَّلِينَۖ ﰏ

Alam nuhliki lawwalîn

N'avons-nous pas fait périr les premières [générations]

Did We not destroy the former peoples

ثُمَّ نُتْبِعُهُمُ اُ۬لَاخِرِينَۖ ﰐ

Thumma nutbi‘uhumu lakhirîn

Puis ne les avons-Nous pas fait suivre par les derniers

Then We will follow them with the later ones

كَذَٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِالْمُجْرِمِينَۖ ﰑ

Kadhâlika naf‘alu bilmujrimîn

C'est ainsi que Nous agissons avec les criminels

Thus do We deal with the criminals

وَيْلٞ يَوْمَئِذٖ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَۖ ﰒ

Waylun yawma'idhil lilmukadhdhibîn

Malheur, ce jour-là, à ceux qui criaient au mensonge

Woe, that Day, to the deniers

أَلَمْ نَخْلُقكُّم مِّن مَّآءٖ مَّهِينٖ ﰓ

Alam nakhluqkkum mim mâ'im mahîn

Ne vous avons-Nous pas créés d'une eau vile

Did We not create you from a liquid disdained

فَجَعَلْنَٰهُ فِے قَر۪ارٖ مَّكِينٍ ﰔ

Faja‘alnâhu fî qarêrim makîn

que Nous avons placée dans un reposoir sûr

And We placed it in a firm lodging

اِلَىٰ قَدَرٖ مَّعْلُومٖ ﰕ

Ilâ qadarim ma‘lûm

pour une durée connue

For a known extent

فَقَدَّرْنَاۖ فَنِعْمَ اَ۬لْقَٰدِرُونَۖ ﰖ

Faqaddarnâ fani‘ma lqâdirûn

Nous l'avons décrété ainsi et Nous décrétons [tout] de façon parfaite

And We determined [it], and excellent [are We] to determine

وَيْلٞ يَوْمَئِذٖ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَۖ ﰗ

Waylun yawma'idhil lilmukadhdhibîn

Malheur, ce jour-là, à ceux qui criaient au mensonge

Woe, that Day, to the deniers

أَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ اِ۬لَارْضَ كِفَاتاً ﰘ

Alam naj‘ali larda kifâah

N'avons-Nous pas fait de la terre un endroit les contenant tous

Have We not made the earth a container

اَحْيَآءٗ وَأَمْوَٰتاٗ ﰙ

Ahyâ'an wa'amwâah

les vivants ainsi que les morts

Of the living and the dead

وَجَعَلْنَا فِيهَا رَوَٰسِيَ شَٰمِخَٰتٖ وَأَسْقَيْنَٰكُم مَّآءٗ فُرَاتاٗۖ ﰚ

Waja‘alnâ fîhâ rawâsiya shâmikhâtin wa'asqaynâkum mâ'an furâah

Et n'y avons-Nous pas placé fermement de hautes montagnes? Et ne vous avons-Nous pas abreuvés d'eau douce

And We placed therein lofty, firmly set mountains and have given you to drink sweet water

وَيْلٞ يَوْمَئِذٖ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَۖ ﰛ

Waylun yawma'idhil lilmukadhdhibîn

Malheur, ce jour-là, à ceux qui criaient au mensonge

Woe, that Day, to the deniers

اَ۪نطَلِقُوٓاْ إِلَىٰ مَا كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَ ﰜ

Antaliqû ilâ mâ kuntum bihî tukadhdhibûn

Allez vers ce que vous traitiez alors de mensonge

[They will be told], "Proceed to that which you used to deny

اَ۪نطَلِقُوٓاْ إِلَىٰ ظِلّٖ ذِے ثَلَٰثِ شُعَبٖ ﰝ

Antaliqû ilâ zillin dhî thalâthi shu‘ab

Allez vers une ombre [fumée de l'Enfer] à trois branches

Proceed to a shadow [of smoke] having three columns

لَّا ظَلِيلٖ وَلَا يُغْنِے مِنَ اَ۬للَّهَبِۖ ﰞ

Lâ zalîlin walâ yughnî mina llâhab

qui n'est ni ombreuse ni capable de protéger contre la flamme

[But having] no cool shade and availing not against the flame

إِنَّهَا تَرْمِے بِشَرَرٖ كَالْقَصْرِ ﰟ

Innahâ tarmî bishararin kalqasr

car [le feu] jette des étincelles volumineuses comme des châteaux

Indeed, it throws sparks [as huge] as a fortress

كَأَنَّهُۥ جِمَٰلَٰتٞ صُفْرٞۖ ﰠ

Ka'annahû jimâlâtun sufr

et qu'on prendrait pour des chameaux jaunes

As if they were yellowish [black] camels

وَيْلٞ يَوْمَئِذٖ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَۖ ﰡ

Waylun yawma'idhil lilmukadhdhibîn

Malheur, ce jour-là, à ceux qui criaient au mensonge

Woe, that Day, to the deniers

هَٰذَا يَوْمُ لَا يَنطِقُونَ ﰢ

Hâdhâ yawmu lâ yantiqûn

Ce sera le jour où ils ne [peuvent] pas parler

This is a Day they will not speak

وَلَا يُوذَنُ لَهُمْ فَيَعْتَذِرُونَۖ ﰣ

Walâ yûdhanu lahum faya‘tadhirûn

et point ne leur sera donné permission de s'excuser

Nor will it be permitted for them to make an excuse

وَيْلٞ يَوْمَئِذٖ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَۖ ﰤ

Waylun yawma'idhil lilmukadhdhibîn

Malheur, ce jour-là, à ceux qui criaient au mensonge

Woe, that Day, to the deniers

هَٰذَا يَوْمُ اُ۬لْفَصْلِ جَمَعْنَٰكُمْ وَالَاوَّلِينَ ﰥ

Hâdhâ yawmu lfasli jama‘nâkum walawwalîn

C'est le Jour de la Décision [Jugement], où nous vous réunirons ainsi que les anciens

This is the Day of Judgement; We will have assembled you and the former peoples

فَإِن كَانَ لَكُمْ كَيْدٞ فَكِيدُونِۖ ﰦ

Fa'in kâna lakum kaydun fakîdûn

Si vous disposez d'une ruse, rusez donc contre Moi

So if you have a plan, then plan against Me

وَيْلٞ يَوْمَئِذٖ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَۖ ﰧ

Waylun yawma'idhil lilmukadhdhibîn

Malheur, ce jour-là, à ceux qui criaient au mensonge

Woe, that Day, to the deniers

إِنَّ اَ۬لْمُتَّقِينَ فِے ظِلَٰلٖ وَعُيُونٖ ﰨ

Inna lmuttaqîna fî zilâlin wa‘uyûn

Les pieux seront parmi des ombrages et des sources

Indeed, the righteous will be among shades and springs

وَفَوَٰكِهَ مِمَّا يَشْتَهُونَۖ ﰩ

Wafawâkiha mimmâ yashtahûn

De même que des fruits selon leurs désirs

And fruits from whatever they desire

كُلُواْ وَاشْرَبُواْۖ هَنِيٓـٔاَۢ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَۖ ﰪ

Kulû washrabû hanî'am bimâ kuntum ta‘malûn

«Mangez et buvez agréablement, pour ce que vous faisiez»

[Being told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you used to do

إِنَّا كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِے اِ۬لْمُحْسِنِينَۖ ﰫ

Innâ kadhâlika najzî lmuhsinîn

C'est ainsi que Nous récompensons les bienfaisants

Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good

وَيْلٞ يَوْمَئِذٖ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَۖ ﰬ

Waylun yawma'idhil lilmukadhdhibîn

Malheur, ce jour-là, à ceux qui criaient au mensonge

Woe, that Day, to the deniers

كُلُواْ وَتَمَتَّعُواْ قَلِيلاً اِنَّكُم مُّجْرِمُونَۖ ﰭ

Kulû watamatta‘û qalîlani nnakum mujrimûn

«Mangez et jouissez un peu (ici-bas); vous êtes certes des criminels»

[O disbelievers], eat and enjoy yourselves a little; indeed, you are criminals

وَيْلٞ يَوْمَئِذٖ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَۖ ﰮ

Waylun yawma'idhil lilmukadhdhibîn

Malheur, ce jour-là, à ceux qui criaient au mensonge

Woe, that Day, to the deniers

وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ اُ۪رْكَعُواْ لَا يَرْكَعُونَۖ ﰯ

Wa'idhâ qîla lahumu rka‘û lâ yarka‘ûn

Et quand on leur dit: «Inclinez-vous, ils ne s'inclinent pas

And when it is said to them, "Bow [in prayer]," they do not bow

وَيْلٞ يَوْمَئِذٖ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِينَۖ ﰰ

Waylun yawma'idhil lilmukadhdhibîn

Malheur, ce jour-là, à ceux qui criaient au mensonge

Woe, that Day, to the deniers

فَبِأَيِّ حَدِيثِۢ بَعْدَهُۥ يُومِنُونَۖ ﰱ

Fabi'ayyi hadîthim ba‘dahû yûminûn

Après cela, en quelle parole croiront-ils donc

Then in what statement after the Qur'an will they believe
