يَسْـَٔلُونَكَ عَنِ اِ۬لَانفَالِۖ قُلِ اِ۬لَانفَالُ لِلهِ وَالرَّسُولِۖ فَاتَّقُواْ اُ۬للَّهَ وَأَصْلِحُواْ ذَاتَ بَيْنِكُمْۖ وَأَطِيعُواْ اُ۬للَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥٓ إِن كُنتُم مُّومِنِينَۖ ﰀ

Yas'alûnaka ‘ani lanfâli quli lanfâlu lillâhi warrasûli fattaqû llâha wa'aslihû dhâta baynikum wa'atî‘û llâha warasûlahû in kuntum mûminîn

Ils t'interrogent au sujet du butin. Dis: «Le butin est à Allah et à Son messager.» Craignez Allah, maintenez la concorde entre vous et obéissez à Allah et à Son messager, si vous êtes croyants

They ask you, [O Muhammad], about the bounties [of war]. Say, "The [decision concerning] bounties is for Allah and the Messenger." So fear Allah and amend that which is between you and obey Allah and His Messenger, if you should be believers

إِنَّمَا اَ۬لْمُومِنُونَ اَ۬لذِينَ إِذَا ذُكِرَ اَ۬للَّهُ وَجِلَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْ وَإِذَا تُلِيَتْ عَلَيْهِمُۥٓ ءَايَٰتُهُۥ زَادَتْهُمُۥٓ إِيمَٰناٗ وَعَلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ يَتَوَكَّلُونَۖ ﰁ

Innamâ lmûminûna lladhîna idhâ dhukira llâhu wajilat qulûbuhum wa'idhâ tuliyat ‘alayhimû âyâtuhû zâdathumû îmânan wa‘alâ rabbihim yatawakkalûn

Les vrais croyants sont ceux dont les cœurs frémissent quand on mentionne Allah. Et quand Ses versets leur sont récités, cela fait augmenter leur foi. Et ils placent leur confiance en leur Seigneur

The believers are only those who, when Allah is mentioned, their hearts become fearful, and when His verses are recited to them, it increases them in faith; and upon their Lord they rely

اَ۬لذِينَ يُقِيمُونَ اَ۬لصَّلَوٰةَ وَمِمَّا رَزَقْنَٰهُمْ يُنفِقُونَ ﰂ

Alladhîna yuqîmûna ssalawâta wamimmâ razaqnâhum yunfiqûn

Ceux qui accomplissent la Salât et qui dépensent [dans le sentier d'Allah] de ce que Nous leur avons attribué

The ones who establish prayer, and from what We have provided them, they spend

أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ اُ۬لْمُومِنُونَ حَقّاٗۖ لَّهُمْ دَرَجَٰتٌ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ وَمَغْفِرَةٞ وَرِزْقٞ كَرِيمٞۖ ﰃ

Ulâ'ika humu lmûminûna haqqal lahum darajâtun ‘inda rabbihim wamaghfiratun warizqun karîm

Ceux-là sont, en toute vérité les croyants: à eux des degrés (élevés) auprès de leur Seigneur, ainsi qu'un pardon et une dotation généreuse

Those are the believers, truly. For them are degrees [of high position] with their Lord and forgiveness and noble provision

۞ كَمَآ أَخْرَجَكَ رَبُّكَ مِنۢ بَيْتِكَ بِالْحَقِّ وَإِنَّ فَرِيقاٗ مِّنَ اَ۬لْمُومِنِينَ لَكَٰرِهُونَ ﰄ

Kamâ akhrajaka rabbuka mim baytika bilhaqqi wa'inna farîqam mina lmûminîna lakârihûn

De même, c'est au nom de la vérité que ton Seigneur t'a fait sortir de ta demeure, malgré la répulsion d'une partie des croyants

[It is] just as when your Lord brought you out of your home [for the battle of Badr] in truth, while indeed, a party among the believers were unwilling

يُجَٰدِلُونَكَ فِے اِ۬لْحَقِّ بَعْدَ مَا تَبَيَّنَ كَأَنَّمَا يُسَاقُونَ إِلَى اَ۬لْمَوْتِ وَهُمْ يَنظُرُونَۖ ﰅ

Yujâdilûnaka fî lhaqqi ba‘da mâ tabayyana ka'annamâ yusâqûna ilâ lmawti wahum yanzurûn

Ils discutent avec toi au sujet de la vérité après qu'elle fut clairement apparue; comme si on les poussait vers la mort et qu'ils (la) voyaient

Arguing with you concerning the truth after it had become clear, as if they were being driven toward death while they were looking on

وَإِذْ يَعِدُكُمُ اُ۬للَّهُ إِحْدَى اَ۬لطَّآئِفَتَيْنِ أَنَّهَا لَكُمْ وَتَوَدُّونَ أَنَّ غَيْرَ ذَاتِ اِ۬لشَّوْكَةِ تَكُونُ لَكُمْۖ وَيُرِيدُ اُ۬للَّهُ أَنْ يُّحِقَّ اَ۬لْحَقَّ بِكَلِمَٰتِهِۦ وَيَقْطَعَ دَابِرَ اَ۬لْكٰ۪فِرِينَ ﰆ

Wa'idh ya‘idukumu llâhu ihdâ ttâ'ifatayni annahâ lakum watawaddûna anna ghayra dhâti shshawkati takûnu lakum wayurîdu llâhu ay yuhiqqa lhaqqa bikalimâtihî wayaqta‘a dâbira lkêfirîn

(Rappelez-vous), quand Allah vous promettait qu'une des deux bandes sera à vous. Vous désiriez vous emparer de celle qui était sans armes, alors qu'Allah voulait par Ses paroles faire triompher la vérité et anéantir les mécréants jusqu'au dernier

[Remember, O believers], when Allah promised you one of the two groups - that it would be yours - and you wished that the unarmed one would be yours. But Allah intended to establish the truth by His words and to eliminate the disbelievers

لِيُحِقَّ اَ۬لْحَقَّ وَيُبْطِلَ اَ۬لْبَٰطِلَ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ اَ۬لْمُجْرِمُونَۖ ﰇ

Liyuhiqqa lhaqqa wayubtila lbâtila walaw kariha lmujrimûn

afin qu'Il fasse triompher la vérité et anéantir le faux, en dépit de la répulsion qu'en avaient les criminels

That He should establish the truth and abolish falsehood, even if the criminals disliked it

إِذْ تَسْتَغِيثُونَ رَبَّكُمْ فَاسْتَجَابَ لَكُمُۥٓ أَنِّے مُمِدُّكُم بِأَلْفٖ مِّنَ اَ۬لْمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ مُرْدَفِينَۖ ﰈ

Idh tastaghîthûna rabbakum fastajâba lakumû annî mumiddukum bi'alfim mina lmalâ'ikati murdafîn

(Et rappelez-vous) le moment où vous imploriez le secours de votre Seigneur et qu'Il vous exauça aussitôt: «Je vais vous aider d'un millier d'Anges déferlant les uns à la suite des autres.»

[Remember] when you asked help of your Lord, and He answered you, "Indeed, I will reinforce you with a thousand from the angels, following one another

وَمَا جَعَلَهُ اُ۬للَّهُ إِلَّا بُشْر۪ىٰ وَلِتَطْمَئِنَّ بِهِۦ قُلُوبُكُمْۖ وَمَا اَ۬لنَّصْرُ إِلَّا مِنْ عِندِ اِ۬للَّهِۖ إِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌۖ ﰉ

Wamâ ja‘alahu llâhu illâ bushrê walitatma'inna bihî qulûbukum wamâ nnasru illâ min ‘indi llâhi inna llâha ‘azîzun hakîm

Allah ne fit cela que pour (vous) apporter une bonne nouvelle et pour qu'avec cela vos cœurs se tranquillisent. Il n'y a de victoire que de la part d'Allah. Allah est Puissant et Sage

And Allah made it not but good tidings and so that your hearts would be assured thereby. And victory is not but from Allah. Indeed, Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise

اِذْ يُغْشِيكُمُ اُ۬لنُّعَاسَ أَمَنَةٗ مِّنْهُ وَيُنَزِّلُ عَلَيْكُم مِّنَ اَ۬لسَّمَآءِ مَآءٗ لِّيُطَهِّرَكُم بِهِۦ وَيُذْهِبَ عَنكُمْ رِجْزَ اَ۬لشَّيْطَٰنِ وَلِيَرْبِطَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِكُمْ وَيُثَبِّتَ بِهِ اِ۬لَاقْدَامَۖ ﰊ

Idh yughshîkumu nnu‘âsa amanatam minhu wayunazzilu ‘alaykum mina ssamâ'i mâ'al liyutahhirakum bihî wayudhhiba ‘ankum rijza shshaytâni waliyarbita ‘alâ qulûbikum wayuthabbita bihi laqdâm

Et quand Il vous enveloppa de sommeil comme d'une sécurité de Sa part, et du ciel Il fit descendre de l'eau sur vous afin de vous en purifier, d'écarter de vous la souillure du Diable, de renforcer les cœurs et d'en raffermir les pas! [vos pas]

[Remember] when He overwhelmed you with drowsiness [giving] security from Him and sent down upon you from the sky, rain by which to purify you and remove from you the evil [suggestions] of Satan and to make steadfast your hearts and plant firmly thereby your feet

إِذْ يُوحِے رَبُّكَ إِلَى اَ۬لْمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ أَنِّے مَعَكُمْ فَثَبِّتُواْ اُ۬لذِينَ ءَامَنُواْۖ سَأُلْقِے فِے قُلُوبِ اِ۬لذِينَ كَفَرُواْ اُ۬لرُّعْبَۖ فَاضْرِبُواْ فَوْقَ اَ۬لَاعْنَاقِ وَاضْرِبُواْ مِنْهُمْ كُلَّ بَنَانٖۖ ﰋ

Idh yûhî rabbuka ilâ lmalâ'ikati annî ma‘akum fathabbitû lladhîna âmanû sa'ulqî fî qulûbi lladhîna kafarû rru‘ba fadribû fawqa la‘nâqi wadribû minhum kulla banân

Et ton Seigneur révéla aux Anges: «Je suis avec vous: affermissez donc les croyants. Je vais jeter l'effroi dans les cœurs des mécréants. Frappez donc au-dessus des cous et frappez-les sur tous les bouts des doigts

[Remember] when your Lord inspired to the angels, "I am with you, so strengthen those who have believed. I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieved, so strike [them] upon the necks and strike from them every fingertip

ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ شَآقُّواْ اُ۬للَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥۖ وَمَنْ يُّشَاقِقِ اِ۬للَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ فَإِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ شَدِيدُ اُ۬لْعِقَابِۖ ﰌ

Dhâlika bi'annahum shâqqû llâha warasûlahû wamay yushâqiqi llâha warasûlahû fa'inna llâha shadîdu l‘iqâb

Ce, parce qu'ils ont désobéi à Allah et à Son messager.» Et quiconque désobéit à Allah et à Son messager... Allah est certainement dur en punition

That is because they opposed Allah and His Messenger. And whoever opposes Allah and His Messenger - indeed, Allah is severe in penalty

ذَٰلِكُمْ فَذُوقُوهُۖ وَأَنَّ لِلْكٰ۪فِرِينَ عَذَابَ اَ۬لنّ۪ارِۖ ﰍ

Dhâlikum fadhûqûhu wa'anna lilkêfirîna ‘adhâba nnêr

Voilà (votre sort); goûtez-le donc! Et aux mécréants le châtiment du Feu (sera réservé)

That [is yours], so taste it." And indeed for the disbelievers is the punishment of the Fire

۞ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا اَ۬لذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ إِذَا لَقِيتُمُ اُ۬لذِينَ كَفَرُواْ زَحْفاٗ فَلَا تُوَلُّوهُمُ اُ۬لَادْبَٰرَۖ ﰎ

Yâ'ayyuhâ lladhîna âmanû idhâ laqîtumu lladhîna kafarû zahfan falâ tuwallûhumu ladbâr

O vous qui croyez quand vous rencontrez (l'armée) des mécréants en marche, ne leur tournez point le dos

O you who have believed, when you meet those who disbelieve advancing [for battle], do not turn to them your backs [in flight]

وَمَنْ يُّوَلِّهِمْ يَوْمَئِذٖ دُبُرَهُۥٓ إِلَّا مُتَحَرِّفاٗ لِّقِتَالٍ اَوْ مُتَحَيِّزاً اِلَىٰ فِئَةٖ فَقَدْ بَآءَ بِغَضَبٖ مِّنَ اَ۬للَّهِ وَمَأْو۪يٰهُ جَهَنَّمُۖ وَبِيسَ اَ۬لْمَصِيرُۖ ﰏ

Wamay yuwallihim yawma'idhin duburahû illâ mutaharrifal liqitâlina w mutahayyizani lâ fî'atin faqad bâ'a bighadabim mina llâhi wama'wêhu jahannamu wabîsa lmasîr

Quiconque, ce jour-là, leur tourne le dos, - à moins que ce soit par tactique de combat, ou pour rallier un autre groupe, - celui-là encourt la colère d'Allah et son refuge sera l'Enfer. Et quelle mauvaise destination

And whoever turns his back to them on such a day, unless swerving [as a strategy] for war or joining [another] company, has certainly returned with anger [upon him] from Allah, and his refuge is Hell - and wretched is the destination

فَلَمْ تَقْتُلُوهُمْۖ وَلَٰكِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ قَتَلَهُمْۖ وَمَا رَمَيْتَ إِذْ رَمَيْتَ وَلَٰكِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ رَم۪ىٰۖ وَلِيُبْلِيَ اَ۬لْمُومِنِينَ مِنْهُ بَلَآءً حَسَناًۖ اِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٞۖ ﰐ

Falam taqtulûhum walâkinna llâha qatalahum wamâ ramayta idh ramayta walâkinna llâha ramê waliyubliya lmûminîna minhu balâ'an hasanani nna llâha samî‘un ‘alîm

Ce n'est pas vous qui les avez tués: mais c'est Allah qui les a tués. Et lorsque tu lançais (une poignée de terre), ce n'est pas toi qui lançais: mais c'est Allah qui lançait, et ce pour éprouver les croyants d'une belle épreuve de Sa part! Allah est Audient et Omniscient

And you did not kill them, but it was Allah who killed them. And you threw not, [O Muhammad], when you threw, but it was Allah who threw that He might test the believers with a good test. Indeed, Allah is Hearing and Knowing

ذَٰلِكُمْ وَأَنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ مُوَهِّنٞ كَيْدَ اَ۬لْكٰ۪فِرِينَۖ ﰑ

Dhâlikum wa'anna llâha muwahhinun kayda lkêfirîn

Voilà! Allah réduit à rien la ruse des mécréants

That [is so], and [also] that Allah will weaken the plot of the disbelievers

إِن تَسْتَفْتِحُواْ فَقَدْ جَآءَكُمُ اُ۬لْفَتْحُۖ وَإِن تَنتَهُواْ فَهُوَ خَيْرٞ لَّكُمْۖ وَإِن تَعُودُواْ نَعُدْۖ وَلَن تُغْنِيَ عَنكُمْ فِئَتُكُمْ شَئْاٗ وَلَوْ كَثُرَتْۖ وَأَنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ مَعَ اَ۬لْمُومِنِينَۖ ﰒ

In tastaftihû faqad jâ'akumu lfathu wa'in tantahû fahuwa khayrul lakum wa'in ta‘ûdû na‘ud walan tughniya ‘ankum fî'atukum shay'an walaw kathurat wa'anna llâha ma‘a lmûminîn

Si vous avez imploré l'arbitrage d'Allah vous connaissez maintenant la sentence [d'Allah] Et si vous cessez [la mécréance et l'hostilité contre le Prophète..], c'est mieux pour vous. Mais si vous revenez, Nous reviendrons, et votre masse, même nombreuse, ne vous sera d'aucune utilité. Car Allah est vraiment avec les croyants

If you [disbelievers] seek the victory - the defeat has come to you. And if you desist [from hostilities], it is best for you; but if you return [to war], We will return, and never will you be availed by your [large] company at all, even if it should increase; and [that is] because Allah is with the believers

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا اَ۬لذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ أَطِيعُواْ اُ۬للَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥۖ وَلَا تَوَلَّوْاْ عَنْهُ وَأَنتُمْ تَسْمَعُونَۖ ﰓ

Yâ'ayyuhâ lladhîna âmanû atî‘û llâha warasûlahû walâ tawallaw ‘anhu wa'antum tasma‘ûn

O vous qui croyez! Obéissez à Allah et à Son messager et ne vous détournez pas de lui quand vous l'entendez (parler)

O you who have believed, obey Allah and His Messenger and do not turn from him while you hear [his order]

وَلَا تَكُونُواْ كَالذِينَ قَالُواْ سَمِعْنَا وَهُمْ لَا يَسْمَعُونَۖ ﰔ

Walâ takûnû kalladhîna qâlû sami‘nâ wahum lâ yasma‘ûn

Et ne soyez pas comme ceux qui disent: «Nous avons entendu», alors qu'ils n'entendent pas

And do not be like those who say, "We have heard," while they do not hear

۞ إِنَّ شَرَّ اَ۬لدَّوَآبِّ عِندَ اَ۬للَّهِ اِ۬لصُّمُّ اُ۬لْبُكْمُ اُ۬لذِينَ لَا يَعْقِلُونَۖ ﰕ

Inna sharra ddawâbbi ‘inda llâhi ssummu lbukmu lladhîna lâ ya‘qilûn

Les pires des bêtes auprès d'Allah, sont, [en vérité], les sourds-muets qui ne raisonnent pas

Indeed, the worst of living creatures in the sight of Allah are the deaf and dumb who do not use reason

وَلَوْ عَلِمَ اَ۬للَّهُ فِيهِمْ خَيْراٗ لَّأَسْمَعَهُمْۖ وَلَوَ اَسْمَعَهُمْ لَتَوَلَّواْ وَّهُم مُّعْرِضُونَۖ ﰖ

Walaw ‘alima llâhu fîhim khayral la'asma‘ahum walawa sma‘ahum latawallaw wahum mu‘ridûn

Et si Allah avait reconnu en eux quelque bien, Il aurait fait qu'ils entendent. Mais, même s'Il les faisait entendre, ils tourneraient [sûrement] le dos en s'éloignant

Had Allah known any good in them, He would have made them hear. And if He had made them hear, they would [still] have turned away, while they were refusing

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا اَ۬لذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ اُ۪سْتَجِيبُواْ لِلهِ وَلِلرَّسُولِ إِذَا دَعَاكُمْ لِمَا يُحْيِيكُمْۖ وَاعْلَمُوٓاْ أَنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ يَحُولُ بَيْنَ اَ۬لْمَرْءِ وَقَلْبِهِۦ وَأَنَّهُۥٓ إِلَيْهِ تُحْشَرُونَۖ ﰗ

Yâ'ayyuhâ lladhîna âmanû stajîbû lillâhi walilrrasûli idhâ da‘âkum limâ yuhyîkum wa‘lamû anna llâha yahûlu bayna lmar'i waqalbihî wa'annahû ilayhi tuhsharûn

O vous qui croyez! Répondez à Allah et au Messager lorsqu'il vous appelle à ce qui vous donne la (vraie) vie, et sachez qu'Allah s'interpose entre l'homme et son cœur, et que c'est vers Lui que vous serez rassemblés

O you who have believed, respond to Allah and to the Messenger when he calls you to that which gives you life. And know that Allah intervenes between a man and his heart and that to Him you will be gathered

وَاتَّقُواْ فِتْنَةٗ لَّا تُصِيبَنَّ اَ۬لذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ مِنكُمْ خَآصَّةٗۖ وَاعْلَمُوٓاْ أَنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ شَدِيدُ اُ۬لْعِقَابِۖ ﰘ

Wattaqû fitnatal lâ tusîbanna lladhîna zalamû minkum khâssatan wa‘lamû anna llâha shadîdu l‘iqâb

Et craignez une calamité qui n'affligera pas exclusivement les injustes d'entre vous. Et sachez qu'Allah est dur en punition

And fear a trial which will not strike those who have wronged among you exclusively, and know that Allah is severe in penalty

وَاذْكُرُوٓاْ إِذَ اَنتُمْ قَلِيلٞ مُّسْتَضْعَفُونَ فِے اِ۬لَارْضِ تَخَافُونَ أَنْ يَّتَخَطَّفَكُمُ اُ۬لنَّاسُ فَـَٔاو۪يٰكُمْ وَأَيَّدَكُم بِنَصْرِهِۦ وَرَزَقَكُم مِّنَ اَ۬لطَّيِّبَٰتِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُونَۖ ﰙ

Wadhkurû idha ntum qalîlum mustad‘afûna fî lardi takhâfûna ay yatakhattafakumu nnâsu fa'âwêkum wa'ayyadakum binasrihî warazaqakum mina ttayyibâti la‘allakum tashkurûn

Et rappelez-vous quand vous étiez peu nombreux, opprimés sur terre, craignant de vous faire enlever par des gens. Il vous donna asile, vous renforça de Son secours et vous attribua de bonnes choses afin que vous soyez reconnaissants

And remember when you were few and oppressed in the land, fearing that people might abduct you, but He sheltered you, supported you with His victory, and provided you with good things - that you might be grateful

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا اَ۬لذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ لَا تَخُونُواْ اُ۬للَّهَ وَالرَّسُولَ وَتَخُونُوٓاْ أَمَٰنَٰتِكُمْ وَأَنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَۖ ﰚ

Yâ'ayyuhâ lladhîna âmanû lâ takhûnû llâha warrasûla watakhûnû amânâtikum wa'antum ta‘lamûn

O vous qui croyez! Ne trahissez pas Allah et le Messager. Ne trahissez pas sciemment la confiance qu'on a placée en vous

O you who have believed, do not betray Allah and the Messenger or betray your trusts while you know [the consequence]

وَاعْلَمُوٓاْ أَنَّمَآ أَمْوَٰلُكُمْ وَأَوْلَٰدُكُمْ فِتْنَةٞ وَأَنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ عِندَهُۥٓ أَجْرٌ عَظِيمٞۖ ﰛ

Wa‘lamû annamâ amwâlukum wa'awlâdukum fitnatun wa'anna llâha ‘indahû ajrun ‘azîm

Et sachez que vos biens et vos enfants ne sont qu'une épreuve et qu'auprès d'Allah il y a une énorme récompense

And know that your properties and your children are but a trial and that Allah has with Him a great reward

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا اَ۬لذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ إِن تَتَّقُواْ اُ۬للَّهَ يَجْعَل لَّكُمْ فُرْقَاناٗ وَيُكَفِّرْ عَنكُمْ سَيِّـَٔاتِكُمْ وَيَغْفِرْ لَكُمْۖ وَاللَّهُ ذُو اُ۬لْفَضْلِ اِ۬لْعَظِيمِۖ ﰜ

Yâ'ayyuhâ lladhîna âmanû in tattaqû llâha yaj‘al lakum furqânan wayukaffir ‘ankum sayyi'âtikum wayaghfir lakum wallâhu dhû lfadli l‘azîm

O vous qui croyez! Si vous craignez Allah, Il vous accordera la faculté de discerner (entre le bien et le mal), vous effacera vos méfaits et vous pardonnera. Et Allah est le Détenteur de l'énorme grâce

O you who have believed, if you fear Allah, He will grant you a criterion and will remove from you your misdeeds and forgive you. And Allah is the possessor of great bounty

وَإِذْ يَمْكُرُ بِكَ اَ۬لذِينَ كَفَرُواْ لِيُثْبِتُوكَ أَوْ يَقْتُلُوكَ أَوْ يُخْرِجُوكَۖ وَيَمْكُرُونَ وَيَمْكُرُ اُ۬للَّهُۖ وَاللَّهُ خَيْرُ اُ۬لْمَٰكِرِينَۖ ﰝ

Wa'idh yamkuru bika lladhîna kafarû liyuthbitûka aw yaqtulûka aw yukhrijûka wayamkurûna wayamkuru llâhu wallâhu khayru lmâkirîn

(Et rappelle-toi) le moment où les mécréants complotaient contre toi pour t'emprisonner ou t'assassiner ou te bannir. Ils complotèrent. mais Allah a fait échouer leur complot, et Allah est le meilleur en stratagèmes

And [remember, O Muhammad], when those who disbelieved plotted against you to restrain you or kill you or evict you [from Makkah]. But they plan, and Allah plans. And Allah is the best of planners

۞ وَإِذَا تُتْل۪ىٰ عَلَيْهِمُۥٓ ءَايَٰتُنَا قَالُواْ قَدْ سَمِعْنَا لَوْ نَشَآءُ لَقُلْنَا مِثْلَ هَٰذَآ إِنْ هَٰذَآ إِلَّآ أَسَٰطِيرُ اُ۬لَاوَّلِينَۖ ﰞ

Wa'idhâ tutlê ‘alayhimû âyâtunâ qâlû qad sami‘nâ law nashâ'u laqulnâ mithla hâdhâ in hâdhâ illâ asâtîru lawwalîn

Et lorsque Nos versets leur sont récités, ils disent: «Nous avons écouté, certes! Si nous voulions, nous dirions pareil à cela, ce ne sont que des légendes d'anciens.»

And when Our verses are recited to them, they say, "We have heard. If we willed, we could say [something] like this. This is not but legends of the former peoples

وَإِذْ قَالُواْ اُ۬للَّهُمَّ إِن كَانَ هَٰذَا هُوَ اَ۬لْحَقَّ مِنْ عِندِكَ فَأَمْطِرْ عَلَيْنَا حِجَارَةٗ مِّنَ اَ۬لسَّمَآءِ اَ۬وِ اِ۪يتِنَا بِعَذَابٍ اَلِيمٖۖ ﰟ

Wa'idh qâlû llâhumma in kâna hâdhâ huwa lhaqqa min ‘indika fa'amtir ‘alaynâ hijâratam mina ssamâ'i wi ytinâ bi‘adhâbina lîm

Et quand ils dirent: «O Allah, si cela est la vérité de Ta part, alors, fais pleuvoir du ciel des pierres sur nous, ou fais venir sur nous un châtiment douloureux»

And [remember] when they said, "O Allah, if this should be the truth from You, then rain down upon us stones from the sky or bring us a painful punishment

وَمَا كَانَ اَ۬للَّهُ لِيُعَذِّبَهُمْ وَأَنتَ فِيهِمْۖ وَمَا كَانَ اَ۬للَّهُ مُعَذِّبَهُمْ وَهُمْ يَسْتَغْفِرُونَۖ ﰠ

Wamâ kâna llâhu liyu‘adhdhibahum wa'anta fîhim wamâ kâna llâhu mu‘adhdhibahum wahum yastaghfirûn

Allah n'est point tel qu'Il les châtie, alors que tu es au milieu d'eux. Et Allah n'est point tel qu'il les châtie alors qu'Ils demandent pardon

But Allah would not punish them while you, [O Muhammad], are among them, and Allah would not punish them while they seek forgiveness

وَمَا لَهُمُۥٓ أَلَّا يُعَذِّبَهُمُ اُ۬للَّهُ وَهُمْ يَصُدُّونَ عَنِ اِ۬لْمَسْجِدِ اِ۬لْحَرَامِ وَمَا كَانُوٓاْ أَوْلِيَآءَهُۥٓۖ إِنَ اَوْلِيَآؤُهُۥٓ إِلَّا اَ۬لْمُتَّقُونَۖ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَۖ ﰡ

Wamâ lahumû allâ yu‘adhdhibahumu llâhu wahum yasuddûna ‘ani lmasjidi lharâmi wamâ kânû awliyâ'ahû ina wliyâ'uhû illâ lmuttaqûna walâkinna aktharahum lâ ya‘lamûn

Qu'ont-ils donc pour qu'Allah ne les châtie pas, alors qu'ils repoussent (les croyants) de la Mosquée sacrée, quoiqu'ils n'en soient pas les gardiens, car ses gardiens ne sont que les pieux. Mais la plupart d'entre eux ne le savent pas

But why should Allah not punish them while they obstruct [people] from al-Masjid al- Haram and they were not [fit to be] its guardians? Its [true] guardians are not but the righteous, but most of them do not know

وَمَا كَانَ صَلَاتُهُمْ عِندَ اَ۬لْبَيْتِ إِلَّا مُكَآءٗ وَتَصْدِيَةٗۖ فَذُوقُواْ اُ۬لْعَذَابَ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَكْفُرُونَۖ ﰢ

Wamâ kâna salâtuhum ‘inda lbayti illâ mukâ'an watasdiyatan fadhûqû l‘adhâba bimâ kuntum takfurûn

Et leur prière, auprès de la Maison, n'est que sifflement et battements de mains: «Goûtez donc au châtiment, à cause de votre mécréance!»

And their prayer at the House was not except whistling and handclapping. So taste the punishment for what you disbelieved

إِنَّ اَ۬لذِينَ كَفَرُواْ يُنفِقُونَ أَمْوَٰلَهُمْ لِيَصُدُّواْ عَن سَبِيلِ اِ۬للَّهِۖ فَسَيُنفِقُونَهَا ثُمَّ تَكُونُ عَلَيْهِمْ حَسْرَةٗ ثُمَّ يُغْلَبُونَۖ وَالذِينَ كَفَرُوٓاْ إِلَىٰ جَهَنَّمَ يُحْشَرُونَ ﰣ

Inna lladhîna kafarû yunfiqûna amwâlahum liyasuddû ‘an sabîli llâhi fasayunfiqûnahâ thumma takûnu ‘alayhim hasratan thumma yughlabûna walladhîna kafarû ilâ jahannama yuhsharûn

Ceux qui ne croient pas dépensent leurs biens pour éloigner (les gens) du sentier d'Allah. Or, après les avoir dépensés, ils seront pour eux un sujet de regret. Puis ils seront vaincus, et tous ceux qui ne croient pas seront rassemblés vers l'Enfer

Indeed, those who disbelieve spend their wealth to avert [people] from the way of Allah. So they will spend it; then it will be for them a [source of] regret; then they will be overcome. And those who have disbelieved - unto Hell they will be gathered

لِيَمِيزَ اَ۬للَّهُ اُ۬لْخَبِيثَ مِنَ اَ۬لطَّيِّبِ وَيَجْعَلَ اَ۬لْخَبِيثَ بَعْضَهُۥ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٖ فَيَرْكُمَهُۥ جَمِيعاٗ فَيَجْعَلَهُۥ فِے جَهَنَّمَۖ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ اُ۬لْخَٰسِرُونَۖ ﰤ

Liyamîza llâhu lkhabîtha mina ttayyibi wayaj‘ala lkhabîtha ba‘dahû ‘alâ ba‘din fayarkumahû jamî‘an fayaj‘alahû fî jahannama ulâ'ika humu lkhâsirûn

afin qu'Allah distingue le mauvais du bon, et qu'Il place les mauvais les uns sur les autres, pour en faire un amoncellement qu'Il jettera dans l'Enfer. Ceux-là sont les perdants

[This is] so that Allah may distinguish the wicked from the good and place the wicked some of them upon others and heap them all together and put them into Hell. It is those who are the losers

قُل لِّلذِينَ كَفَرُوٓاْ إِنْ يَّنتَهُواْ يُغْفَرْ لَهُم مَّا قَدْ سَلَفَۖ وَإِنْ يَّعُودُواْ فَقَدْ مَضَتْ سُنَّتُ اُ۬لَاوَّلِينَۖ ﰥ

Qul lilladhîna kafarû iy yantahû yughfar lahum mâ qad salafa wa'iy ya‘ûdû faqad madat sunnatu lawwalîn

Dis à ceux qui ne croient pas que, s'ils cessent, on leur pardonnera ce qui s'est passé. Et s'ils récidivent, (ils seront châtiés); à l'exemple de (leurs) devanciers

Say to those who have disbelieved [that] if they cease, what has previously occurred will be forgiven for them. But if they return [to hostility] - then the precedent of the former [rebellious] peoples has already taken place

وَقَٰتِلُوهُمْ حَتَّىٰ لَا تَكُونَ فِتْنَةٞ وَيَكُونَ اَ۬لدِّينُ كُلُّهُۥ لِلهِۖ فَإِنِ اِ۪نتَهَوْاْ فَإِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ بِمَا يَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرٞۖ ﰦ

Waqâtilûhum hattâ lâ takûna fitnatun wayakûna ddînu kulluhû lillâhi fa'ini ntahaw fa'inna llâha bimâ ya‘malûna basîr

Et combattez-les jusqu'à ce qu'il ne subsiste plus d'association, et que la religion soit entièrement à Allah. Puis, s'ils cessent (ils seront pardonnés car) Allah observe bien ce qu'ils œuvrent

And fight them until there is no fitnah and [until] the religion, all of it, is for Allah. And if they cease - then indeed, Allah is Seeing of what they do

وَإِن تَوَلَّوْاْ فَاعْلَمُوٓاْ أَنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ مَوْل۪يٰكُمْۖ نِعْمَ اَ۬لْمَوْل۪ىٰۖ وَنِعْمَ اَ۬لنَّصِيرُۖ ﰧ

Wa'in tawallaw fa‘lamû anna llâha mawlêkum ni‘ma lmawlê wani‘ma nnasîr

Et s'ils tournent le dos, sachez alors qu'Allah est votre Maître. Quel excellent Maître et quel excellent Protecteur

But if they turn away - then know that Allah is your protector. Excellent is the protector, and Excellent is the helper

۞ وَاعْلَمُوٓاْ أَنَّمَا غَنِمْتُم مِّن شَےْءٖ فَأَنَّ لِلهِ خُمُسَهُۥ وَلِلرَّسُولِ وَلِذِے اِ۬لْقُرْب۪ىٰ وَالْيَتَٰم۪ىٰ وَالْمَسَٰكِينِ وَابْنِ اِ۬لسَّبِيلِ إِن كُنتُمُۥٓ ءَامَنتُم بِاللَّهِ وَمَآ أَنزَلْنَا عَلَىٰ عَبْدِنَا يَوْمَ اَ۬لْفُرْقَانِ يَوْمَ اَ۪لْتَقَى اَ۬لْجَمْعَٰنِۖ وَاللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَےْءٖ قَدِيرٌۖ ﰨ

Wa‘lamû annamâ ghanimtum min shay'in fa'anna lillâhi khumusahû walilrrasûli walidhî lqurbê walyatâmê walmasâkîni wabni ssabîli in kuntumû âmantum billâhi wamâ anzalnâ ‘alâ ‘abdinâ yawma lfurqâni yawma ltaqâ ljam‘âni wallâhu ‘alâ kulli shay'in qadîr

Et sachez que, de tout butin que vous avez ramassé, le cinquième appartient à Allah, au messager, à ses proches parents, aux orphelins, aux pauvres, et aux voyageurs (en détresse), si vous croyez en Allah et en ce que Nous avons fait descendre sur Notre serviteur, le jour du Discernement: le jour où les deux groupes s'étaient rencontrés, et Allah est Omnipotent

And know that anything you obtain of war booty - then indeed, for Allah is one fifth of it and for the Messenger and for [his] near relatives and the orphans, the needy, and the [stranded] traveler, if you have believed in Allah and in that which We sent down to Our Servant on the day of criterion - the day when the two armies met. And Allah, over all things, is competent

اِذَ اَنتُم بِالْعُدْوَةِ اِ۬لدُّنْي۪ا وَهُم بِالْعُدْوَةِ اِ۬لْقُصْو۪ىٰ وَالرَّكْبُ أَسْفَلَ مِنكُمْۖ وَلَوْ تَوَاعَدتُّمْ لَاخْتَلَفْتُمْ فِے اِ۬لْمِيعَٰدِۖ وَلَٰكِن لِّيَقْضِيَ اَ۬للَّهُ أَمْراٗ كَانَ مَفْعُولاٗ ﰩ

Idha ntum bil‘udwati ddunyê wahum bil‘udwati lquswê warrakbu asfala minkum walaw tawâ‘adttum lakhtalaftum fî lmî‘âdi walâkil liyaqdiya llâhu amran kâna maf‘ûlâ

Vous étiez sur le versant le plus proche, et eux (les ennemis) sur le versant le plus éloigné, tandis que la caravane était plus bas que vous. Si vous vous étiez donné rendez-vous, vous l'auriez manqué (effrayés par le nombre de l'ennemi). Mais il fallait qu'Allah accomplît un ordre qui devait être exécuté, pour que, sur preuve, pérît celui qui (devait) périr, et vécût, sur preuve, celui qui (devait) vivre. Et certes Allah est Audient et Omniscient

[Remember] when you were on the near side of the valley, and they were on the farther side, and the caravan was lower [in position] than you. If you had made an appointment [to meet], you would have missed the appointment. But [it was] so that Allah might accomplish a matter already destined - that those who perished [through disbelief] would perish upon evidence and those who lived [in faith] would live upon evidence; and indeed, Allah is Hearing and Knowing

لِّيَهْلِكَ مَنْ هَلَكَ عَنۢ بَيِّنَةٖ وَيَحْي۪ىٰ مَنْ حَيِيَ عَنۢ بَيِّنَةٖۖ وَإِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ لَسَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌۖ ﰪ

Liyahlika man halaka ‘am bayyinatin wayahyê man hayiya ‘am bayyinatin wa'inna llâha lasamî‘un ‘alîm

اِذْ يُرِيكَهُمُ اُ۬للَّهُ فِے مَنَامِكَ قَلِيلاٗۖ وَلَوَ اَر۪يٰكَهُمْ كَثِيراٗ لَّفَشِلْتُمْ وَلَتَنَٰزَعْتُمْ فِے اِ۬لَامْرِۖ وَلَٰكِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ سَلَّمَۖ إِنَّهُۥ عَلِيمُۢ بِذَاتِ اِ۬لصُّدُورِۖ ﰫ

Idh yurîkahumu llâhu fî manâmika qalîlan walawa rêkahum kathîral lafashiltum walatanâza‘tum fî lamri walâkinna llâha sallama innahû ‘alîmum bidhâti ssudûr

En songe, Allah te les avait montrés peu nombreux! Car s'Il te les avait montrés nombreux, vous auriez certainement fléchi, et vous vous seriez certainement disputés à propos de l'affaire. Mais Allah vous en a préservés. Il connait le contenu des cœurs

[Remember, O Muhammad], when Allah showed them to you in your dream as few; and if He had shown them to you as many, you [believers] would have lost courage and would have disputed in the matter [of whether to fight], but Allah saved [you from that]. Indeed, He is Knowing of that within the breasts

وَإِذْ يُرِيكُمُوهُمُۥٓ إِذِ اِ۪لْتَقَيْتُمْ فِےٓ أَعْيُنِكُمْ قَلِيلاٗ وَيُقَلِّلُكُمْ فِےٓ أَعْيُنِهِمْ لِيَقْضِيَ اَ۬للَّهُ أَمْراٗ كَانَ مَفْعُولاٗۖ وَإِلَى اَ۬للَّهِ تُرْجَعُ اُ۬لُامُورُۖ ﰬ

Wa'idh yurîkumûhumû idhi ltaqaytum fî a‘yunikum qalîlan wayuqallilukum fî a‘yunihim liyaqdiya llâhu amran kâna maf‘ûlan wa'ilâ llâhi turja‘u lumûr

Et aussi, au moment de la rencontre, Il vous les montrait peu nombreux à Vos yeux, de même qu'Il vous faisant paraître à leurs yeux peu nombreux afin qu'Allah parachève un ordre qui devait être exécuté. C'est à Allah que sont ramenées les choses

And [remember] when He showed them to you, when you met, as few in your eyes, and He made you [appear] as few in their eyes so that Allah might accomplish a matter already destined. And to Allah are [all] matters returned

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا اَ۬لذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ إِذَا لَقِيتُمْ فِئَةٗ فَاثْبُتُواْ وَاذْكُرُواْ اُ۬للَّهَ كَثِيراٗ لَّعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَۖ ﰭ

Yâ'ayyuhâ lladhîna âmanû idhâ laqîtum fî'atan fathbutû wadhkurû llâha kathîral la‘allakum tuflihûn

O vous qui croyez! Lorsque vous rencontrez une troupe (ennemie), soyez fermes, et invoquez beaucoup Allah afin de réussir

O you who have believed, when you encounter a company [from the enemy forces], stand firm and remember Allah much that you may be successful

وَأَطِيعُواْ اُ۬للَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥۖ وَلَا تَنَٰزَعُواْ فَتَفْشَلُواْ وَتَذْهَبَ رِيحُكُمْۖ وَاصْبِرُوٓاْۖ إِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ مَعَ اَ۬لصَّٰبِرِينَۖ ﰮ

Wa'atî‘û llâha warasûlahû walâ tanâza‘û fatafshalû watadhhaba rîhukum wasbirû inna llâha ma‘a ssâbirîn

Et obéissez à Allah et à Son messager; et ne vous disputez pas, sinon vous fléchirez et perdrez votre force. Et soyez endurants, car Allah est avec les endurants

And obey Allah and His Messenger, and do not dispute and [thus] lose courage and [then] your strength would depart; and be patient. Indeed, Allah is with the patient

وَلَا تَكُونُواْ كَالذِينَ خَرَجُواْ مِن دِيٰ۪رِهِم بَطَراٗ وَرِئَآءَ اَ۬لنَّاسِ وَيَصُدُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ اِ۬للَّهِۖ وَاللَّهُ بِمَا يَعْمَلُونَ مُحِيطٞۖ ﰯ

Walâ takûnû kalladhîna kharajû min diêrihim bataran warî'â'a nnâsi wayasuddûna ‘an sabîli llâhi wallâhu bimâ ya‘malûna muhît

Et ne soyez pas comme ceux qui sortirent de leurs demeures pour repousser la vérité et avec ostentation publique, obstruant le chemin d'Allah. Et Allah cerne ce qu'ils font

And do not be like those who came forth from their homes insolently and to be seen by people and avert [them] from the way of Allah. And Allah is encompassing of what they do

۞ وَإِذْ زَيَّنَ لَهُمُ اُ۬لشَّيْطَٰنُ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ وَقَالَ لَا غَالِبَ لَكُمُ اُ۬لْيَوْمَ مِنَ اَ۬لنَّاسِ وَإِنِّے جَارٞ لَّكُمْۖ فَلَمَّا تَرَآءَتِ اِ۬لْفِئَتَٰنِ نَكَصَ عَلَىٰ عَقِبَيْهِ وَقَالَ إِنِّے بَرِےٓءٞ مِّنكُمُۥٓ إِنِّيَ أَر۪ىٰ مَا لَا تَرَوْنَ إِنِّيَ أَخَافُ اُ۬للَّهَۖ وَاللَّهُ شَدِيدُ اُ۬لْعِقَابِۖ ﰰ

Wa'idh zayyana lahumu shshaytânu a‘mâlahum waqâla lâ ghâliba lakumu lyawma mina nnâsi wa'innî jârul lakum falammâ tarâ'ati lfî'atâni nakasa ‘alâ ‘aqibayhi waqâla innî barî'um minkumû inniya arê mâ lâ tarawna inniya akhâfu llâha wallâhu shadîdu l‘iqâb

Et quand le Diable leur eut embelli leurs actions et dit: «Nul parmi les humains ne peut vous dominer aujourd'hui, et je suis votre soutien.» Mais, lorsque les deux groupes furent en vue l'un de l'autre, il tourna les deux talons et dit: «Je vous désavoue. Je vois ce que vous ne voyez pas; je crains Allah, et Allah est dur en punition»

And [remember] when Satan made their deeds pleasing to them and said, "No one can overcome you today from among the people, and indeed, I am your protector." But when the two armies sighted each other, he turned on his heels and said, "Indeed, I am disassociated from you. Indeed, I see what you do not see; indeed I fear Allah. And Allah is severe in penalty

إِذْ يَقُولُ اُ۬لْمُنَٰفِقُونَ وَالذِينَ فِے قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٌ غَرَّ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ دِينُهُمْۖ وَمَنْ يَّتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى اَ۬للَّهِ فَإِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٞۖ ﰱ

Idh yaqûlu lmunâfiqûna walladhîna fî qulûbihim maradun gharra hâ'ulâ'i dînuhum wamay yatawakkal ‘alâ llâhi fa'inna llâha ‘azîzun hakîm

(Et rappelez-vous), quand les hypocrites et ceux qui ont une maladie au cœur [dont la foi est douteuse] disaient: «Ces gens-là, leur religion les trompe.» Mais quiconque place sa confiance en Allah (sera victorieux)... car Allah est Puissant et Sage

[Remember] when the hypocrites and those in whose hearts was disease said, "Their religion has deluded those [Muslims]." But whoever relies upon Allah - then indeed, Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise

وَلَوْ تَر۪ىٰٓ إِذْ يَتَوَفَّى اَ۬لذِينَ كَفَرُواْۖ اُ۬لْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ يَضْرِبُونَ وُجُوهَهُمْ وَأَدْبَٰرَهُمْ وَذُوقُواْ عَذَابَ اَ۬لْحَرِيقِۖ ﰲ

Walaw tarê idh yatawaffâ lladhîna kafarû lmalâ'ikatu yadribûna wujûhahum wa'adbârahum wadhûqû ‘adhâba lharîq

Si tu voyais, lorsque les Anges arrachaient les âmes aux mécréants! Ils les frappaient sur leurs visages et leurs derrières, (en disant): «Goûtez au châtiment du Feu

And if you could but see when the angels take the souls of those who disbelieved... They are striking their faces and their backs and [saying], "Taste the punishment of the Burning Fire

ذَٰلِكَ بِمَا قَدَّمَتَ اَيْدِيكُمْ وَأَنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ لَيْسَ بِظَلَّٰمٖ لِّلْعَبِيدِۖ ﰳ

Dhâlika bimâ qaddamata ydîkum wa'anna llâha laysa bizallâmil lil‘abîd

Cela (le châtiment), pour ce que vos mains ont accompli.» Et Allah n'est point injuste envers les esclaves

That is for what your hands have put forth [of evil] and because Allah is not ever unjust to His servants

كَدَأْبِ ءَالِ فِرْعَوْنَۖ وَالذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ كَفَرُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِ اِ۬للَّهِ فَأَخَذَهُمُ اُ۬للَّهُ بِذُنُوبِهِمُۥٓۖ إِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ قَوِيّٞ شَدِيدُ اُ۬لْعِقَابِۖ ﰴ

Kada'bi âli fir‘awna walladhîna min qablihim kafarû bi'âyâti llâhi fa'akhadhahumu llâhu bidhunûbihimû inna llâha qawiyyun shadîdu l‘iqâb

Il en fut de même des gens de Pharaon et ceux qui avant eux n'avaient pas cru aux signes (enseignements) d'Allah. Allah les saisit pour leurs péchés. Allah est certes Fort et sévère en punition

[Theirs is] like the custom of the people of Pharaoh and of those before them. They disbelieved in the signs of Allah, so Allah seized them for their sins. Indeed, Allah is Powerful and severe in penalty

ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ لَمْ يَكُ مُغَيِّراٗ نِّعْمَةً اَنْعَمَهَا عَلَىٰ قَوْمٍ حَتَّىٰ يُغَيِّرُواْ مَا بِأَنفُسِهِمْ وَأَنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٞۖ ﰵ

Dhâlika bi'anna llâha lam yaku mughayyiran ni‘matana n‘amahâ ‘alâ qawmin hattâ yughayyirû mâ bi'anfusihim wa'anna llâha samî‘un ‘alîm

C'est qu'en effet Allah ne modifie pas un bienfait dont Il a gratifié un peuple avant que celui-ci change ce qui est en lui-même. Et Allah est, Audient et Omniscient

That is because Allah would not change a favor which He had bestowed upon a people until they change what is within themselves. And indeed, Allah is Hearing and Knowing

كَدَأْبِ ءَالِ فِرْعَوْنَۖ وَالذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ كَذَّبُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِ رَبِّهِمْ فَأَهْلَكْنَٰهُم بِذُنُوبِهِمْۖ وَأَغْرَقْنَآ ءَالَ فِرْعَوْنَۖ وَكُلّٞ كَانُواْ ظَٰلِمِينَۖ ﰶ

Kada'bi âli fir‘awna walladhîna min qablihim kadhdhabû bi'âyâti rabbihim fa'ahlaknâhum bidhunûbihim wa'aghraqnâ âla fir‘awna wakullun kânû zâlimîn

Il en fut de même des gens de Pharaon et ceux qui avant eux avaient traité de mensonges les signes (enseignements) de leur Seigneur. Nous les avons fait périr pour leurs péchés. Et Nous avons noyé les gens de Pharaon. Car ils étaient tous des injustes

[Theirs is] like the custom of the people of Pharaoh and of those before them. They denied the signs of their Lord, so We destroyed them for their sins, and We drowned the people of Pharaoh. And all [of them] were wrongdoers

إِنَّ شَرَّ اَ۬لدَّوَآبِّ عِندَ اَ۬للَّهِ اِ۬لذِينَ كَفَرُواْ فَهُمْ لَا يُومِنُونَ ﰷ

Inna sharra ddawâbbi ‘inda llâhi lladhîna kafarû fahum lâ yûminûn

Les pires bêtes, auprès d'Allah, sont ceux qui ont été infidèles (dans le passé) et qui ne croient donc point (actuellement)

Indeed, the worst of living creatures in the sight of Allah are those who have disbelieved, and they will not [ever] believe

اَ۬لذِينَ عَٰهَدتَّ مِنْهُمْ ثُمَّ يَنقُضُونَ عَهْدَهُمْ فِے كُلِّ مَرَّةٖ وَهُمْ لَا يَتَّقُونَۖ ﰸ

Alladhîna ‘âhadtta minhum thumma yanqudûna ‘ahdahum fî kulli marratin wahum lâ yattaqûn

ceux-là mêmes avec lesquels tu as fait un pacte et qui chaque fois le rompent, sans aucune crainte [d'Allah]

The ones with whom you made a treaty but then they break their pledge every time, and they do not fear Allah

فَإِمَّا تَثْقَفَنَّهُمْ فِے اِ۬لْحَرْبِ فَشَرِّدْ بِهِم مَّنْ خَلْفَهُمْ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَذَّكَّرُونَۖ ﰹ

Fa'immâ tathqafannahum fî lharbi fasharrid bihim man khalfahum la‘allahum yadhdhakkarûn

Donc, si tu les maîtrises à la guerre, inflige-leur un châtiment exemplaire de telle sorte que ceux qui sont derrière eux soient effarouchés. Afin qu'ils se souviennent

So if you, [O Muhammad], gain dominance over them in war, disperse by [means of] them those behind them that perhaps they will be reminded

وَإِمَّا تَخَافَنَّ مِن قَوْمٍ خِيَانَةٗ فَانۢبِذِ اِلَيْهِمْ عَلَىٰ سَوَآءٍۖ اِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ اُ۬لْخَآئِنِينَۖ ﰺ

Wa'immâ takhâfanna min qawmin khiyânatan fâmbidhi layhim ‘alâ sawâ'ini nna llâha lâ yuhibbu lkhâ'inîn

Et si jamais tu crains vraiment une trahison de la part d'un peuple, dénonce alors le pacte (que tu as conclu avec), d'une façon franche et loyale car Allah n'aime pas les traîtres

If you [have reason to] fear from a people betrayal, throw [their treaty] back to them, [putting you] on equal terms. Indeed, Allah does not like traitors

وَلَا تَحْسِبَنَّ اَ۬لذِينَ كَفَرُواْ سَبَقُوٓاْۖ إِنَّهُمْ لَا يُعْجِزُونَۖ ﰻ

Walâ tahsibanna lladhîna kafarû sabaqû innahum lâ yu‘jizûn

Que les mécréants ne pensent pas qu'ils Nous ont échappé. Non, ils ne pourront jamais Nous empêcher (de les rattraper à n'importe quel moment)

And let not those who disbelieve think they will escape. Indeed, they will not cause failure [to Allah]

۞ وَأَعِدُّواْ لَهُم مَّا اَ۪سْتَطَعْتُم مِّن قُوَّةٖ وَمِن رِّبَاطِ اِ۬لْخَيْلِۖ تُرْهِبُونَ بِهِۦ عَدُوَّ اَ۬للَّهِ وَعَدُوَّكُمْ وَءَاخَرِينَ مِن دُونِهِمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَهُمُۖ اُ۬للَّهُ يَعْلَمُهُمْۖ وَمَا تُنفِقُواْ مِن شَےْءٖ فِے سَبِيلِ اِ۬للَّهِ يُوَفَّ إِلَيْكُمْ وَأَنتُمْ لَا تُظْلَمُونَۖ ﰼ

Wa'a‘iddû lahum mâ stata‘tum min quwwatin wamir ribâti lkhayli turhibûna bihî ‘aduwwa llâhi wa‘aduwwakum wa'âkharîna min dûnihim lâ ta‘lamûnahumu llâhu ya‘lamuhum wamâ tunfiqû min shay'in fî sabîli llâhi yuwaffa ilaykum wa'antum lâ tuzlamûn

Et préparez [pour lutter] contre eux tout ce que vous pouvez comme force et comme cavalerie équipée, afin d'effrayer l'ennemi d'Allah et le vôtre, et d'autres encore que vous ne connaissez pas en dehors de ceux-ci mais qu'Allah connaît. Et tout ce que vous dépensez dans le sentier d'Allah vous sera remboursé pleinement et vous ne serez point lésés

And prepare against them whatever you are able of power and of steeds of war by which you may terrify the enemy of Allah and your enemy and others besides them whom you do not know [but] whom Allah knows. And whatever you spend in the cause of Allah will be fully repaid to you, and you will not be wronged

وَإِن جَنَحُواْ لِلسَّلْمِ فَاجْنَحْ لَهَا وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى اَ۬للَّهِۖ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ اَ۬لسَّمِيعُ اُ۬لْعَلِيمُۖ ﰽ

Wa'in janahû lissalmi fajnah lahâ watawakkal ‘alâ llâhi innahû huwa ssamî‘u l‘alîm

Et s'ils inclinent à la paix, incline vers celle-ci (toi aussi) et place ta confiance en Allah, car c'est Lui l'Audient, l'Omniscient

And if they incline to peace, then incline to it [also] and rely upon Allah. Indeed, it is He who is the Hearing, the Knowing

وَإِنْ يُّرِيدُوٓاْ أَنْ يَّخْدَعُوكَ فَإِنَّ حَسْبَكَ اَ۬للَّهُۖ هُوَ اَ۬لذِےٓ أَيَّدَكَ بِنَصْرِهِۦ وَبِالْمُومِنِينَ ﰾ

Wa'iy yurîdû ay yakhda‘ûka fa'inna hasbaka llâhu huwa lladhî ayyadaka binasrihî wabiâlmûminîn

Et s'ils veulent te tromper, alors Allah te suffira. C'est Lui qui t'a soutenu par Son secours, ainsi que par (l'assistance) des croyants

But if they intend to deceive you - then sufficient for you is Allah. It is He who supported you with His help and with the believers

وَأَلَّفَ بَيْنَ قُلُوبِهِمْۖ لَوَ اَنفَقْتَ مَا فِے اِ۬لَارْضِ جَمِيعاٗ مَّآ أَلَّفْتَ بَيْنَ قُلُوبِهِمْۖ وَلَٰكِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ أَلَّفَ بَيْنَهُمُۥٓۖ إِنَّهُۥ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٞۖ ﰿ

Wa'allafa bayna qulûbihim lawa nfaqta mâ fî lardi jamî‘am mâ allafta bayna qulûbihim walâkinna llâha allafa baynahumû innahû ‘azîzun hakîm

Il a uni leurs cœurs (par la foi). Aurais-tu dépensé tout ce qui est sur terre, tu n'aurais pu unir leurs cœurs; mais c'est Allah qui les a unis, car Il est Puissant et Sage

And brought together their hearts. If you had spent all that is in the earth, you could not have brought their hearts together; but Allah brought them together. Indeed, He is Exalted in Might and Wise

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا اَ۬لنَّبِےٓءُ حَسْبُكَ اَ۬للَّهُۖ وَمَنِ اِ۪تَّبَعَكَ مِنَ اَ۬لْمُومِنِينَۖ ﱀ

Yâ'ayyuhâ nnabî'u hasbuka llâhu wamani ttaba‘aka mina lmûminîn

O Prophète, Allah et ceux des croyants qui te suivent te suffisent

O Prophet, sufficient for you is Allah and for whoever follows you of the believers

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا اَ۬لنَّبِےٓءُ حَرِّضِ اِ۬لْمُومِنِينَ عَلَى اَ۬لْقِتَالِۖ إِنْ يَّكُن مِّنكُمْ عِشْرُونَ صَٰبِرُونَ يَغْلِبُواْ مِاْئَتَيْنِۖ وَإِن تَكُن مِّنكُم مِّاْئَةٞ يَغْلِبُوٓاْ أَلْفاٗ مِّنَ اَ۬لذِينَ كَفَرُواْ بِأَنَّهُمْ قَوْمٞ لَّا يَفْقَهُونَۖ ﱁ

Yâ'ayyuhâ nnabî'u harridi lmûminîna ‘alâ lqitâli iy yakum minkum ‘ishrûna sâbirûna yaghlibû mî'atayni wa'in takum minkum mî'atun yaghlibû alfam mina lladhîna kafarû bi'annahum qawmul lâ yafqahûn

O Prophète, incite les croyants au combat. S'il se trouve parmi vous vingt endurants, ils vaincront deux cents; et s'il s'en trouve cent, ils vaincront mille mécréants, car ce sont vraiment des gens qui ne comprennent pas

O Prophet, urge the believers to battle. If there are among you twenty [who are] steadfast, they will overcome two hundred. And if there are among you one hundred [who are] steadfast, they will overcome a thousand of those who have disbelieved because they are a people who do not understand

اَ۬لَٰنَ خَفَّفَ اَ۬للَّهُ عَنكُمْ وَعَلِمَ أَنَّ فِيكُمْ ضُعْفاٗۖ فَإِن تَكُن مِّنكُم مِّاْئَةٞ صَابِرَةٞ يَغْلِبُواْ مِاْئَتَيْنِۖ وَإِنْ يَّكُن مِّنكُمُۥٓ أَلْفٞ يَغْلِبُوٓاْ أَلْفَيْنِ بِإِذْنِ اِ۬للَّهِۖ وَاللَّهُ مَعَ اَ۬لصَّٰبِرِينَۖ ﱂ

Alâna khaffafa llâhu ‘ankum wa‘alima anna fîkum du‘fan fa'in takum minkum mî'atun sâbiratun yaghlibû mî'atayni wa'iy yakum minkumû alfun yaghlibû alfayni bi'idhni llâhi wallâhu ma‘a ssâbirîn

Maintenant, Allah a allégé votre tâche, sachant qu'il y a de la faiblesse en vous. S'il y a cent endurants parmi vous, ils vaincront deux cents; et s'il y en a mille, ils vaincront deux mille, par la grâce d'Allah. Et Allah est avec les endurants

Now, Allah has lightened [the hardship] for you, and He knows that among you is weakness. So if there are from you one hundred [who are] steadfast, they will overcome two hundred. And if there are among you a thousand, they will overcome two thousand by permission of Allah. And Allah is with the steadfast

مَا كَانَ لِنَبِےٓءٍ اَنْ يَّكُونَ لَهُۥٓ أَسْر۪ىٰ حَتَّىٰ يُثْخِنَ فِے اِ۬لَارْضِۖ تُرِيدُونَ عَرَضَ اَ۬لدُّنْي۪اۖ وَاللَّهُ يُرِيدُ اُ۬لَاخِرَةَۖ وَاللَّهُ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٞۖ ﱃ

Mâ kâna linabî'ina y yakûna lahû asrê hattâ yuthkhina fî lardi turîdûna ‘arada ddunyê wallâhu yurîdu lakhirata wallâhu ‘azîzun hakîm

Un prophète ne devrait pas faire de prisonniers avant d'avoir prévalu [mis les mécréants hors de combat] sur la terre. Vous voulez les biens d'ici-bas, tandis qu'Allah veut l'au-delà. Allah est Puissant et Sage

It is not for a prophet to have captives [of war] until he inflicts a massacre [upon Allah 's enemies] in the land. Some Muslims desire the commodities of this world, but Allah desires [for you] the Hereafter. And Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise

لَّوْلَا كِتَٰبٞ مِّنَ اَ۬للَّهِ سَبَقَ لَمَسَّكُمْ فِيمَآ أَخَذتُّمْ عَذَابٌ عَظِيمٞۖ ﱄ

Lawlâ kitâbum mina llâhi sabaqa lamassakum fîmâ akhadhttum ‘adhâbun ‘azîm

N'eût-été une prescription préalable d'Allah, un énorme châtiment vous aurait touché pour ce que vous avez pris. [de la rançon]

If not for a decree from Allah that preceded, you would have been touched for what you took by a great punishment

فَكُلُواْ مِمَّا غَنِمْتُمْ حَلَٰلاٗ طَيِّباٗۖ وَاتَّقُواْ اُ۬للَّهَۖ إِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ غَفُورٞ رَّحِيمٞۖ ﱅ

Fakulû mimmâ ghanimtum halâlan tayyiban wattaqû llâha inna llâha ghafûrur rahîm

Mangez donc de ce qui vous est échu en butin, tant qu'il est licite et pur. Et craignez Allah, car Allah est Pardonneur et Miséricordieux

So consume what you have taken of war booty [as being] lawful and good, and fear Allah. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا اَ۬لنَّبِےٓءُ قُل لِّمَن فِےٓ أَيْدِيكُم مِّنَ اَ۬لَاسْر۪ىٰٓ إِنْ يَّعْلَمِ اِ۬للَّهُ فِے قُلُوبِكُمْ خَيْراٗ يُوتِكُمْ خَيْراٗ مِّمَّآ أُخِذَ مِنكُمْ وَيَغْفِرْ لَكُمْۖ وَاللَّهُ غَفُورٞ رَّحِيمٞۖ ﱆ

Yâ'ayyuhâ nnabî'u qul liman fî aydîkum mina lasrê iy ya‘lami llâhu fî qulûbikum khayran yûtikum khayram mimmâ ukhidha minkum wayaghfir lakum wallâhu ghafûrur rahîm

O Prophète, dis aux captifs qui sont entre vos mains: «Si Allah sait qu'il y a quelque bien dans vos cœurs, Il vous donnera mieux que ce qui vous a été pris et vous pardonnera. Allah est Pardonneur et Miséricordieux

O Prophet, say to whoever is in your hands of the captives, "If Allah knows [any] good in your hearts, He will give you [something] better than what was taken from you, and He will forgive you; and Allah is Forgiving and Merciful

۞ وَإِنْ يُّرِيدُواْ خِيَانَتَكَ فَقَدْ خَانُواْ اُ۬للَّهَ مِن قَبْلُ فَأَمْكَنَ مِنْهُمْۖ وَاللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٌۖ ﱇ

Wa'iy yurîdû khiyânataka faqad khânû llâha min qablu fa'amkana minhum wallâhu ‘alîmun hakîm

Et s'ils veulent te trahir..., c'est qu'ils ont déjà trahi Allah [par la mécréance]; mais Il a donné prise sur eux [le jour de Badr]. Et Allah est Omniscient et Sage

But if they intend to betray you - then they have already betrayed Allah before, and He empowered [you] over them. And Allah is Knowing and Wise

اِنَّ اَ۬لذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَهَاجَرُواْ وَجَٰهَدُواْ بِأَمْوَٰلِهِمْ وَأَنفُسِهِمْ فِے سَبِيلِ اِ۬للَّهِ وَالذِينَ ءَاوَواْ وَّنَصَرُوٓاْ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ بَعْضُهُمُۥٓ أَوْلِيَآءُ بَعْضٖۖ وَالذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَلَمْ يُهَاجِرُواْ مَا لَكُم مِّنْ وَّلَٰيَتِهِم مِّن شَےْءٍ حَتَّىٰ يُهَاجِرُواْۖ وَإِنِ اِ۪سْتَنصَرُوكُمْ فِے اِ۬لدِّينِ فَعَلَيْكُمُ اُ۬لنَّصْرُ إِلَّا عَلَىٰ قَوْمِۢ بَيْنَكُمْ وَبَيْنَهُم مِّيثَٰقٞۖ وَاللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرٞۖ ﱈ

Inna lladhîna âmanû wahâjarû wajâhadû bi'amwâlihim wa'anfusihim fî sabîli llâhi walladhîna âwaw wanasarû ulâ'ika ba‘duhumû awliyâ'u ba‘din walladhîna âmanû walam yuhâjirû mâ lakum miw walâyatihim min shay'in hattâ yuhâjirû wa'ini stansarûkum fî ddîni fa‘alaykumu nnasru illâ ‘alâ qawmim baynakum wabaynahum mîthâqun wallâhu bimâ ta‘malûna basîr

Ceux qui ont cru, émigré et lutté de leurs biens et de leurs personnes dans le sentier d'Allah, ainsi que ceux qui leur ont donné refuge et secours, ceux-là sont alliés les uns des autres. Quant à ceux qui ont cru et n'ont pas émigré, vous ne serez pas liés à eux, jusqu'à ce qu'ils émigrent. Et s'ils vous demandent secours au nom de la religion, à vous alors de leur porter secours, mais pas contre un peuple auquel vous êtes liés par un pacte. Et Allah observe bien ce que vous œuvrez

Indeed, those who have believed and emigrated and fought with their wealth and lives in the cause of Allah and those who gave shelter and aided - they are allies of one another. But those who believed and did not emigrate - for you there is no guardianship of them until they emigrate. And if they seek help of you for the religion, then you must help, except against a people between yourselves and whom is a treaty. And Allah is Seeing of what you do

وَالذِينَ كَفَرُواْ بَعْضُهُمُۥٓ أَوْلِيَآءُ بَعْضٍۖ اِلَّا تَفْعَلُوهُ تَكُن فِتْنَةٞ فِے اِ۬لَارْضِ وَفَسَادٞ كَبِيرٞۖ ﱉ

Walladhîna kafarû ba‘duhumû awliyâ'u ba‘dini llâ taf‘alûhu takun fitnatun fî lardi wafasâdun kabîr

Et ceux qui n'ont pas cru sont alliés les uns des autres. Si vous n'agissez pas ainsi [en rompant les liens avec les infidèles], il y aura discorde sur terre et grand désordre

And those who disbelieved are allies of one another. If you do not do so, there will be fitnah on earth and great corruption

وَالذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَهَاجَرُواْ وَجَٰهَدُواْ فِے سَبِيلِ اِ۬للَّهِ وَالذِينَ ءَاوَواْ وَّنَصَرُوٓاْ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ اُ۬لْمُومِنُونَ حَقّاٗۖ لَّهُم مَّغْفِرَةٞ وَرِزْقٞ كَرِيمٞۖ ﱊ

Walladhîna âmanû wahâjarû wajâhadû fî sabîli llâhi walladhîna âwaw wanasarû ulâ'ika humu lmûminûna haqqal lahum maghfiratun warizqun karîm

Et ceux qui ont cru, émigré et lutté dans le sentier d'Allah, ainsi que ceux qui leur ont donné refuge et porté secours, ceux-là sont les vrais croyants: à eux, le pardon et une récompense généreuse

But those who have believed and emigrated and fought in the cause of Allah and those who gave shelter and aided - it is they who are the believers, truly. For them is forgiveness and noble provision

وَالذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ مِنۢ بَعْدُ وَهَاجَرُواْ وَجَٰهَدُواْ مَعَكُمْ فَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ مِنكُمْۖ وَأُوْلُواْ اُ۬لَارْحَامِ بَعْضُهُمُۥٓ أَوْل۪ىٰ بِبَعْضٖ فِے كِتَٰبِ اِ۬للَّهِۖ إِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ بِكُلِّ شَےْءٍ عَلِيمُۢۖ ﱋ

Walladhîna âmanû mim ba‘du wahâjarû wajâhadû ma‘akum fa'ulâ'ika minkum wa'ulû larhâmi ba‘duhumû awlê biba‘din fî kitâbi llâhi inna llâha bikulli shay'in ‘alîm

Et ceux qui après cela ont cru et émigré et lutté en votre compagnie, ceux-là sont des vôtres. Cependant ceux qui sont liés par la parenté ont priorité les uns envers les autres, d'après le Livre d'Allah. Certes, Allah est Omniscient

And those who believed after [the initial emigration] and emigrated and fought with you - they are of you. But those of [blood] relationship are more entitled [to inheritance] in the decree of Allah. Indeed, Allah is Knowing of all things
