أَلَٓر۪ۖ كِتَٰبٌ ا۟حْكِمَتَ اٰيَٰتُهُۥ ثُمَّ فُصِّلَتْ مِن لَّدُنْ حَكِيمٍ خَبِيرٍ ﰀ

Alif lâm râ kitâbun uhkimata âyâtuhû thumma fussilat mil ladun hakîmin khabîr

Alif, Lâm, Râ. C'est un Livre dont les versets sont parfaits en style et en sens, émanant d'un Sage, Parfaitement Connaisseur

Alif, Lam, Ra. [This is] a Book whose verses are perfected and then presented in detail from [one who is] Wise and Acquainted

اَلَّا تَعْبُدُوٓاْ إِلَّا اَ۬للَّهَۖ إِنَّنِے لَكُم مِّنْهُ نَذِيرٞ وَبَشِيرٞ ﰁ

Allâ ta‘budû illâ llâha innanî lakum minhu nadhîrun wabashîr

N'adorez qu'Allah. Moi, je suis pour vous, de Sa part, un avertisseur et un annonciateur

[Through a messenger, saying], "Do not worship except Allah. Indeed, I am to you from Him a warner and a bringer of good tidings

وَأَنِ اِ۪سْتَغْفِرُواْ رَبَّكُمْ ثُمَّ تُوبُوٓاْ إِلَيْهِ يُمَتِّعْكُم مَّتَٰعاً حَسَناً اِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٖ مُّسَمّىٗ وَيُوتِ كُلَّ ذِے فَضْلٖ فَضْلَهُۥۖ وَإِن تَوَلَّوْاْ فَإِنِّيَ أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْمٖ كَبِيرٍۖ ﰂ

Wa'ani staghfirû rabbakum thumma tûbû ilayhi yumatti‘kum matâ‘an hasanani lâ ajalim musamman wayûti kulla dhî fadlin fadlahû wa'in tawallaw fa'inniya akhâfu ‘alaykum ‘adhâba yawmin kabîr

Demandez pardon à votre Seigneur; ensuite, revenez à Lui. Il vous accordera une belle jouissance jusqu'à un terme fixé, et Il accordera à chaque méritant l'honneur qu'il mérite. Mais si vous tournez le dos, je crains alors pour vous le châtiment d'un grand jour

And [saying], "Seek forgiveness of your Lord and repent to Him, [and] He will let you enjoy a good provision for a specified term and give every doer of favor his favor. But if you turn away, then indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a great Day

اِلَى اَ۬للَّهِ مَرْجِعُكُمْۖ وَهُوَ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَےْءٖ قَدِيرٌۖ ﰃ

Ilâ llâhi marji‘ukum wahuwa ‘alâ kulli shay'in qadîr

C'est à Allah que sera votre retour; et Il est Omnipotent

To Allah is your return, and He is over all things competent

اَلَآ إِنَّهُمْ يَثْنُونَ صُدُورَهُمْ لِيَسْتَخْفُواْ مِنْهُۖ أَلَا حِينَ يَسْتَغْشُونَ ثِيَابَهُمْ يَعْلَمُ مَا يُسِرُّونَ وَمَا يُعْلِنُونَۖ إِنَّهُۥ عَلِيمُۢ بِذَاتِ اِ۬لصُّدُورِۖ ﰄ

Alâ innahum yathnûna sudûrahum liyastakhfû minhu alâ hîna yastaghshûna thiyâbahum ya‘lamu mâ yusirrûna wamâ yu‘linûna innahû ‘alîmum bidhâti ssudûr

Eh quoi! Ils replient leurs poitrines afin de se cacher de Lui. Même lorsqu'ils se couvrent de leurs vêtements, Il sait ce qu'ils cachent et ce qu'ils divulguent car Il connaît certes le contenu des poitrines

Unquestionably, they the disbelievers turn away their breasts to hide themselves from Him. Unquestionably, [even] when they cover themselves in their clothing, Allah knows what they conceal and what they declare. Indeed, He is Knowing of that within the breasts

۞ وَمَا مِن دَآبَّةٖ فِے اِ۬لَارْضِ إِلَّا عَلَى اَ۬للَّهِ رِزْقُهَا وَيَعْلَمُ مُسْتَقَرَّهَا وَمُسْتَوْدَعَهَاۖ كُلّٞ فِے كِتَٰبٖ مُّبِينٖۖ ﰅ

Wamâ min dâbbatin fî lardi illâ ‘alâ llâhi rizquhâ waya‘lamu mustaqarrahâ wamustawda‘ahâ kullun fî kitâbim mubîn

Il n'y a point de bête sur terre dont la subsistance n'incombe à Allah qui connaît son gîte et son dépôt; tout est dans un Livre explicite

And there is no creature on earth but that upon Allah is its provision, and He knows its place of dwelling and place of storage. All is in a clear register

وَهُوَ اَ۬لذِے خَلَقَ اَ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالَارْضَ فِے سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٖ وَكَانَ عَرْشُهُۥ عَلَى اَ۬لْمَآءِ لِيَبْلُوَكُمُۥٓ أَيُّكُمُۥٓ أَحْسَنُ عَمَلاٗۖ وَلَئِن قُلْتَ إِنَّكُم مَّبْعُوثُونَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ اِ۬لْمَوْتِ لَيَقُولَنَّ اَ۬لذِينَ كَفَرُوٓاْ إِنْ هَٰذَآ إِلَّا سِحْرٞ مُّبِينٞۖ ﰆ

Wahuwa lladhî khalaqa ssamâwâti walarda fî sittati ayyâmin wakâna ‘arshuhû ‘alâ lmâ'i liyabluwakumû ayyukumû ahsanu ‘amalan wala'in qulta innakum mab‘ûthûna mim ba‘di lmawti layaqûlanna lladhîna kafarû in hâdhâ illâ sihrum mubîn

Et c'est Lui qui a créé les cieux et la terre en six jours, - alors que Son Trône était sur l'eau, - afin d'éprouver lequel de vous agirait le mieux. Et si tu dis: «Vous serez ressuscités après la mort», ceux qui ne croient pas diront: «Ce n'est là qu'une magie évidente»

And it is He who created the heavens and the earth in six days - and His Throne had been upon water - that He might test you as to which of you is best in deed. But if you say, "Indeed, you are resurrected after death," those who disbelieve will surely say, "This is not but obvious magic

وَلَئِنَ اَخَّرْنَا عَنْهُمُ اُ۬لْعَذَابَ إِلَىٰٓ أُمَّةٖ مَّعْدُودَةٖ لَّيَقُولُنَّ مَا يَحْبِسُهُۥٓۖ أَلَا يَوْمَ يَاتِيهِمْ لَيْسَ مَصْرُوفاً عَنْهُمْۖ وَحَاقَ بِهِم مَّا كَانُواْ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَۖ ﰇ

Wala'ina khkharnâ ‘anhumu l‘adhâba ilâ ummatim ma‘dûdatil layaqûlunna mâ yahbisuhû alâ yawma yâtîhim laysa masrûfan ‘anhum wahâqa bihim mâ kânû bihî yastahzi'ûn

Et si Nous retardons pour eux le châtiment jusqu'à une période fixée, ils diront: «Qu'est-ce qui le retient?» - Mais le jour où cela leur viendra, il ne sera pas détourné; d'eux et ce dont ils se moquaient les enveloppera

And if We hold back from them the punishment for a limited time, they will surely say, "What detains it?" Unquestionably, on the Day it comes to them, it will not be averted from them, and they will be enveloped by what they used to ridicule

وَلَئِنَ اَذَقْنَا اَ۬لِانسَٰنَ مِنَّا رَحْمَةٗ ثُمَّ نَزَعْنَٰهَا مِنْهُ إِنَّهُۥ لَيَـُٔوسٞ كَفُورٞۖ ﰈ

Wala'ina dhaqnâ linsâna minnâ rahmatan thumma naza‘nâhâ minhu innahû laya'ûsun kafûr

Et si Nous faisons goûter à l'homme une grâce de Notre part, et qu'ensuite Nous la lui arrachons, le voilà désespéré et ingrat

And if We give man a taste of mercy from Us and then We withdraw it from him, indeed, he is despairing and ungrateful

وَلَئِنَ اَذَقْنَٰهُ نَعْمَآءَ بَعْدَ ضَرَّآءَ مَسَّتْهُ لَيَقُولَنَّ ذَهَبَ اَ۬لسَّيِّـَٔاتُ عَنِّيَۖ إِنَّهُۥ لَفَرِحٞ فَخُورٌۖ ﰉ

Wala'ina dhaqnâhu na‘mâ'a ba‘da darrâ'a massathu layaqûlanna dhahaba ssayyi'âtu ‘anniya innahû lafarihun fakhûr

Et si Nous lui faisons goûter le bonheur, après qu'un malheur l'ait touché, il dira: «Les maux se sont éloignés de moi», et le voilà qui exulte, plein de gloriole

But if We give him a taste of favor after hardship has touched him, he will surely say, "Bad times have left me." Indeed, he is exultant and boastful

اِلَّا اَ۬لذِينَ صَبَرُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ اُ۬لصَّٰلِحَٰتِ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ لَهُم مَّغْفِرَةٞ وَأَجْرٞ كَبِيرٞۖ ﰊ

Illâ lladhîna sabarû wa‘amilû ssâlihâti ulâ'ika lahum maghfiratun wa'ajrun kabîr

sauf ceux qui sont endurants et font de bonnes œuvres. Ceux-là obtiendront pardon et une grosse récompense

Except for those who are patient and do righteous deeds; those will have forgiveness and great reward

فَلَعَلَّكَ تَارِكُۢ بَعْضَ مَا يُوح۪ىٰٓ إِلَيْكَ وَضَآئِقُۢ بِهِۦ صَدْرُكَ أَنْ يَّقُولُواْ لَوْلَآ أُنزِلَ عَلَيْهِ كَنزٌ اَوْ جَآءَ مَعَهُۥ مَلَكٌۖ اِنَّمَآ أَنتَ نَذِيرٞۖ وَاللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَےْءٖ وَكِيلٌۖ ﰋ

Fala‘allaka târikum ba‘da mâ yûhê ilayka wadâ'iqum bihî sadruka ay yaqûlû lawlâ unzila ‘alayhi kanzuna w jâ'a ma‘ahû malakuni nnamâ anta nadhîrun wallâhu ‘alâ kulli shay'in wakîl

Il se peut que tu négliges une partie de ce qui t'est révélé, et que ta poitrine s'en sente compressée; parce qu'ils disent: «Que n'a-t-on fait descendre sur lui un trésor?» Ou bien: «Que n'est-il venu un Ange en sa compagnie?» - Tu n'es qu'un avertisseur. Et Allah est Le protecteur de toute chose

Then would you possibly leave [out] some of what is revealed to you, or is your breast constrained by it because they say, "Why has there not been sent down to him a treasure or come with him an angel?" But you are only a warner. And Allah is Disposer of all things

اَمْ يَقُولُونَ اَ۪فْتَر۪يٰهُۖ قُلْ فَاتُواْ بِعَشْرِ سُوَرٖ مِّثْلِهِۦ مُفْتَرَيَٰتٖ وَادْعُواْ مَنِ اِ۪سْتَطَعْتُم مِّن دُونِ اِ۬للَّهِ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَۖ ﰌ

Am yaqûlûna ftarêhu qul fâtû bi‘ashri suwarim mithlihî muftarayâtin wad‘û mani stata‘tum min dûni llâhi in kuntum sâdiqîn

Ou bien ils disent: «Il l'a forgé [le Coran]» - Dis: «Apportez donc dix Sourates semblables à ceci, forgées (par vous). Et appelez qui vous pourrez (pour vous aider), hormis Allah, si vous êtes véridiques»

Or do they say, "He invented it"? Say, "Then bring ten surahs like it that have been invented and call upon [for assistance] whomever you can besides Allah, if you should be truthful

فَإِلَّمْ يَسْتَجِيبُواْ لَكُمْ فَاعْلَمُوٓاْ أَنَّمَآ أُنزِلَ بِعِلْمِ اِ۬للَّهِ وَأَن لَّآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَۖ فَهَلَ اَنتُم مُّسْلِمُونَۖ ﰍ

Fa'illam yastajîbû lakum fa‘lamû annamâ unzila bi‘ilmi llâhi wa'al lâ ilâha illâ huwa fahala ntum muslimûn

S'ils ne vous répondent pas, sachez alors que c'est par la science d'Allah qu'il est descendu, et qu'il n'y a de divinité que Lui. Etes-vous soumis (à Lui)

And if they do not respond to you - then know that the Qur'an was revealed with the knowledge of Allah and that there is no deity except Him. Then, would you [not] be Muslims

۞ مَن كَانَ يُرِيدُ اُ۬لْحَيَوٰةَ اَ۬لدُّنْي۪ا وَزِينَتَهَا نُوَفِّ إِلَيْهِمُۥٓ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ فِيهَا وَهُمْ فِيهَا لَا يُبْخَسُونَۖ ﰎ

Man kâna yurîdu lhayawâta ddunyê wazînatahâ nuwaffi ilayhimû a‘mâlahum fîhâ wahum fîhâ lâ yubkhasûn

Ceux qui veulent la vie présente avec sa parure, Nous les rétribuerons exactement selon leurs actions sur terre, sans que rien leur en soit diminué

Whoever desires the life of this world and its adornments - We fully repay them for their deeds therein, and they therein will not be deprived

أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ اَ۬لذِينَ لَيْسَ لَهُمْ فِے اِ۬لَاخِرَةِ إِلَّا اَ۬لنَّارُۖ وَحَبِطَ مَا صَنَعُواْ فِيهَاۖ وَبَٰطِلٞ مَّا كَانُواْ يَعْمَلُونَۖ ﰏ

Ulâ'ika lladhîna laysa lahum fî lakhirati illâ nnâru wahabita mâ sana‘û fîhâ wabâtilum mâ kânû ya‘malûn

Ceux-là qui n'ont rien, dans l'au-delà, que le Feu. Ce qu'ils auront fait ici-bas sera un échec, et sera vain ce qu'ils auront œuvré

Those are the ones for whom there is not in the Hereafter but the Fire. And lost is what they did therein, and worthless is what they used to do

أَفَمَن كَانَ عَلَىٰ بَيِّنَةٖ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦ وَيَتْلُوهُ شَاهِدٞ مِّنْهُۖ وَمِن قَبْلِهِۦ كِتَٰبُ مُوس۪ىٰٓ إِمَاماٗ وَرَحْمَةًۖ ا۟وْلَٰٓئِكَ يُومِنُونَ بِهِۦۖ وَمَنْ يَّكْفُرْ بِهِۦ مِنَ اَ۬لَاحْزَابِ فَالنَّارُ مَوْعِدُهُۥۖ فَلَا تَكُ فِے مِرْيَةٖ مِّنْهُۖ إِنَّهُ اُ۬لْحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّكَۖ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ اَ۬لنَّاسِ لَا يُومِنُونَۖ ﰐ

Afaman kâna ‘alâ bayyinatim mir rabbihî wayatlûhu shâhidum minhu wamin qablihî kitâbu mûsê imâman warahmatan ulâ'ika yûminûna bihî wamay yakfur bihî mina lahzâbi fannâru maw‘iduhû falâ taku fî miryatim minhu innahu lhaqqu mir rabbika walâkinna akthara nnâsi lâ yûminûn

Est-ce que celui qui se fonde sur une preuve évidente (le Coran) venant de son Seigneur et récitée par un témoin [l'archange Gabriel] de Sa part, cependant qu'avant lui [Muhammad] il y a le livre de Moïse tenant lieu de guide et de miséricorde... [est meilleur ou bien celui qui ne se fonde sur aucune preuve valable?]. Ceux-là y croient; mais quiconque d'entre les factions n'y croit pas, aura le Feu comme rendez-vous. Ne sois donc pas en doute au sujet de ceci (le Coran). Oui, c'est la vérité venant de ton Seigneur; mais la plupart des gens n'y croient pas

So is one who [stands] upon a clear evidence from his Lord [like the aforementioned]? And a witness from Him follows it, and before it was the Scripture of Moses to lead and as mercy. Those [believers in the former revelations] believe in the Qur'an. But whoever disbelieves in it from the [various] factions - the Fire is his promised destination. So be not in doubt about it. Indeed, it is the truth from your Lord, but most of the people do not believe

وَمَنَ اَظْلَمُ مِمَّنِ اِ۪فْتَر۪ىٰ عَلَى اَ۬للَّهِ كَذِباًۖ ا۟وْلَٰٓئِكَ يُعْرَضُونَ عَلَىٰ رَبِّهِمْ وَيَقُولُ اُ۬لَاشْهَٰدُ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ اِ۬لذِينَ كَذَبُواْ عَلَىٰ رَبِّهِمُۥٓۖ أَلَا لَعْنَةُ اُ۬للَّهِ عَلَى اَ۬لظَّٰلِمِينَ ﰑ

Wamana zlamu mimmani ftarê ‘alâ llâhi kadhiban ulâ'ika yu‘radûna ‘alâ rabbihim wayaqûlu lashhâdu hâ'ulâ'i lladhîna kadhabû ‘alâ rabbihimû alâ la‘natu llâhi ‘alâ zzâlimîn

Et quel pire injuste que celui qui forge un mensonge contre Allah? Ceux-là seront présentés à leur Seigneur, et les témoins (les anges) diront: «Voilà ceux qui ont menti contre leur Seigneur». Que la malédiction d'Allah (frappe) les injustes

And who is more unjust than he who invents a lie about Allah? Those will be presented before their Lord, and the witnesses will say, "These are the ones who lied against their Lord." Unquestionably, the curse of Allah is upon the wrongdoers

اَ۬لذِينَ يَصُدُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ اِ۬للَّهِ وَيَبْغُونَهَا عِوَجاٗ وَهُم بِالَاخِرَةِ هُمْ كَٰفِرُونَۖ ﰒ

Alladhîna yasuddûna ‘an sabîli llâhi wayabghûnahâ ‘iwajan wahum bilakhirati hum kâfirûn

qui obstruent le sentier d'Allah (aux gens), cherchent à le rendre tortueux et ne croient pas en l'au-delà

Who averted [people] from the way of Allah and sought to make it [seem] deviant while they, concerning the Hereafter, were disbelievers

أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ لَمْ يَكُونُواْ مُعْجِزِينَ فِے اِ۬لَارْضِ وَمَا كَانَ لَهُم مِّن دُونِ اِ۬للَّهِ مِنَ اَوْلِيَآءَۖ يُضَٰعَفُ لَهُمُ اُ۬لْعَذَابُۖ مَا كَانُواْ يَسْتَطِيعُونَ اَ۬لسَّمْعَ وَمَا كَانُواْ يُبْصِرُونَۖ ﰓ

Ulâ'ika lam yakûnû mu‘jizîna fî lardi wamâ kâna lahum min dûni llâhi mina wliyâ'a yudâ‘afu lahumu l‘adhâbu mâ kânû yastatî‘ûna ssam‘a wamâ kânû yubsirûn

Ceux-là ne peuvent réduire (Allah) à l'impuissance sur terre! Pas d'alliés pour eux en dehors d'Allah et leur châtiment sera doublé. Ils étaient incapables d'entendre; ils ne voyaient pas non plus

Those were not causing failure [to Allah] on earth, nor did they have besides Allah any protectors. For them the punishment will be multiplied. They were not able to hear, nor did they see

أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ اَ۬لذِينَ خَسِرُوٓاْ أَنفُسَهُمْ وَضَلَّ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُواْ يَفْتَرُونَۖ ﰔ

Ulâ'ika lladhîna khasirû anfusahum wadalla ‘anhum mâ kânû yaftarûn

Ce sont ceux-là qui ont causé la perte de leurs propres âmes. Et leurs inventions (idoles) se sont éloignées d'eux

Those are the ones who will have lost themselves, and lost from them is what they used to invent

لَا جَرَمَ أَنَّهُمْ فِے اِ۬لَاخِرَةِ هُمُ اُ۬لَاخْسَرُونَۖ ﰕ

Lâ jarama annahum fî lakhirati humu lakhsarûn

Ce sont eux, infailliblement, qui dans l'au-delà seront les plus grands perdants

Assuredly, it is they in the Hereafter who will be the greatest losers

إِنَّ اَ۬لذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ اُ۬لصَّٰلِحَٰتِ وَأَخْبَتُوٓاْ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِمُۥٓ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ أَصْحَٰبُ اُ۬لْجَنَّةِۖ هُمْ فِيهَا خَٰلِدُونَۖ ﰖ

Inna lladhîna âmanû wa‘amilû ssâlihâti wa'akhbatû ilâ rabbihimû ulâ'ika ashâbu ljannati hum fîhâ khâlidûn

Certes ceux qui croient, font de bonnes œuvres et s'humilient devant leur Seigneur, voilà les gens du Paradis où ils demeureront éternellement

Indeed, they who have believed and done righteous deeds and humbled themselves to their Lord - those are the companions of Paradise; they will abide eternally therein

۞ مَثَلُ اُ۬لْفَرِيقَيْنِ كَالَاعْم۪ىٰ وَالَاصَمِّ وَالْبَصِيرِ وَالسَّمِيعِۖ هَلْ يَسْتَوِيَٰنِ مَثَلاًۖ اَفَلَا تَذَّكَّرُونَۖ ﰗ

Mathalu lfarîqayni kala‘mê walasammi walbasîri wassamî‘i hal yastawiyâni mathalana falâ tadhdhakkarûn

Les deux groupes ressemblent, l'un à l'aveugle et au sourd, l'autre à celui qui voit et qui entend. Les deux sont-ils comparativement égaux? Ne vous souvenez-vous pas

The example of the two parties is like the blind and deaf, and the seeing and hearing. Are they equal in comparison? Then, will you not remember

وَلَقَدَ اَرْسَلْنَا نُوحاً اِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِۦٓۖ إِنِّے لَكُمْ نَذِيرٞ مُّبِينٌ ﰘ

Walaqada rsalnâ nûhani lâ qawmihî innî lakum nadhîrum mubîn

Nous avons déjà envoyé Noé à son peuple: «Je suis pour vous un avertisseur explicite

And We had certainly sent Noah to his people, [saying], "Indeed, I am to you a clear warner

اَن لَّا تَعْبُدُوٓاْ إِلَّا اَ۬للَّهَۖ إِنِّيَ أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ اَلِيمٖۖ ﰙ

Al lâ ta‘budû illâ llâha inniya akhâfu ‘alaykum ‘adhâba yawmina lîm

afin que vous n'adoriez qu'Allah. Je crains pour vous le châtiment d'un jour douloureux»

That you not worship except Allah. Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a painful day

فَقَالَ اَ۬لْمَلَأُ اُ۬لذِينَ كَفَرُواْ مِن قَوْمِهِۦ مَا نَر۪يٰكَ إِلَّا بَشَراٗ مِّثْلَنَا وَمَا نَر۪يٰكَ اَ۪تَّبَعَكَ إِلَّا اَ۬لذِينَ هُمُۥٓ أَرَاذِلُنَا بَادِيَ اَ۬لرَّأْيِۖ وَمَا نَر۪ىٰ لَكُمْ عَلَيْنَا مِن فَضْلِۢ بَلْ نَظُنُّكُمْ كَٰذِبِينَۖ ﰚ

Faqâla lmala'u lladhîna kafarû min qawmihî mâ narêka illâ basharam mithlanâ wamâ narêka ttaba‘aka illâ lladhîna humû arâdhilunâ bâdiya rra'yi wamâ narê lakum ‘alaynâ min fadlim bal nazunnukum kâdhibîn

Les notables de son peuple qui avaient mécru, dirent alors: «Nous ne voyons en toi qu'un homme comme nous; et nous voyons que ce sont seulement les vils parmi nous qui te suivent sans réfléchir; et nous ne voyons en vous aucune supériorité sur nous. Plutôt, nous pensons que vous êtes des menteurs»

So the eminent among those who disbelieved from his people said, "We do not see you but as a man like ourselves, and we do not see you followed except by those who are the lowest of us [and] at first suggestion. And we do not see in you over us any merit; rather, we think you are liars

قَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ أَرَٰٓيْتُمُۥٓ إِن كُنتُ عَلَىٰ بَيِّنَةٖ مِّن رَّبِّے وَءَات۪يٰنِے رَحْمَةٗ مِّنْ عِندِهِۦ فَعَمِيَتْ عَلَيْكُمُۥٓ أَنُلْزِمُكُمُوهَا وَأَنتُمْ لَهَا كَٰرِهُونَۖ ﰛ

Qâla yâqawmi arâytumû in kuntu ‘alâ bayyinatim mir rabbî wa'âtênî rahmatam min ‘indihî fa‘amiyat ‘alaykumû anulzimukumûhâ wa'antum lahâ kârihûn

Il dit: «O mon peuple! Que vous en semble? Si je me conforme à une preuve de mon Seigneur, si une Miséricorde, (prophétie) échappant à vos yeux, est venue à moi de Sa part, devrons-nous vous l'imposer alors que vous la répugnez

He said, "O my people have you considered: if I should be upon clear evidence from my Lord while He has given me mercy from Himself but it has been made unapparent to you, should we force it upon you while you are averse to it

وَيَٰقَوْمِ لَآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ مَالاًۖ اِنَ اَجْرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَى اَ۬للَّهِۖ وَمَآ أَنَا بِطَارِدِ اِ۬لذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ إِنَّهُم مُّلَٰقُواْ رَبِّهِمْۖ وَلَٰكِنِّيَ أَر۪يٰكُمْ قَوْماٗ تَجْهَلُونَۖ ﰜ

Wayâqawmi lâ as'alukum ‘alayhi mâlani na jriya illâ ‘alâ llâhi wamâ anâ bitâridi lladhîna âmanû innahum mulâqû rabbihim walâkinniya arêkum qawman tajhalûn

O mon peuple, je ne vous demande pas de richesse en retour. Mon salaire n'incombe qu'à Allah. Je ne repousserai point ceux qui ont cru, ils auront à rencontrer leur Seigneur. Mais je vous trouve des gens ignorants

And O my people, I ask not of you for it any wealth. My reward is not but from Allah. And I am not one to drive away those who have believed. Indeed, they will meet their Lord, but I see that you are a people behaving ignorantly

وَيَٰقَوْمِ مَنْ يَّنصُرُنِے مِنَ اَ۬للَّهِ إِن طَرَدتُّهُمُۥٓۖ أَفَلَا تَذَّكَّرُونَۖ ﰝ

Wayâqawmi may yansurunî mina llâhi in taradttuhumû afalâ tadhdhakkarûn

O mon peuple, qui me secourra contre (la punition d') Allah si je les repousse? Ne vous souvenez-vous pas

And O my people, who would protect me from Allah if I drove them away? Then will you not be reminded

وَلَآ أَقُولُ لَكُمْ عِندِے خَزَآئِنُ اُ۬للَّهِ وَلَآ أَعْلَمُ اُ۬لْغَيْبَ وَلَآ أَقُولُ إِنِّے مَلَكٞۖ وَلَآ أَقُولُ لِلذِينَ تَزْدَرِےٓ أَعْيُنُكُمْ لَنْ يُّوتِيَهُمُ اُ۬للَّهُ خَيْراًۖ اِ۬للَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا فِےٓ أَنفُسِهِمُۥٓۖ إِنِّيَ إِذاٗ لَّمِنَ اَ۬لظَّٰلِمِينَۖ ﰞ

Walâ aqûlu lakum ‘indî khazâ'inu llâhi walâ a‘lamu lghayba walâ aqûlu innî malakun walâ aqûlu lilladhîna tazdarî a‘yunukum lay yûtiyahumu llâhu khayrani llâhu a‘lamu bimâ fî anfusihimû inniya idhal lamina zzâlimîn

Et je ne vous dis pas que je détiens les trésors d'Allah, je ne connais pas l'Inconnaissable, et je ne dis pas que je suis un Ange; et je ne dis pas non plus aux gens, que vos yeux méprisent, qu'Allah ne leur accordera aucune faveur; Allah connaît mieux ce qu'il y a dans leurs âmes. [Si je le leur disais], je serais du nombre des injustes

And I do not tell you that I have the depositories [containing the provision] of Allah or that I know the unseen, nor do I tell you that I am an angel, nor do I say of those upon whom your eyes look down that Allah will never grant them any good. Allah is most knowing of what is within their souls. Indeed, I would then be among the wrongdoers

۞ قَالُواْ يَٰنُوحُ قَدْ جَٰدَلْتَنَا فَأَكْثَرْتَ جِدَٰلَنَا فَاتِنَا بِمَا تَعِدُنَآ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ اَ۬لصَّٰدِقِينَۖ ﰟ

Qâlû yânûhu qad jâdaltanâ fa'aktharta jidâlanâ fâtinâ bimâ ta‘idunâ in kunta mina ssâdiqîn

Ils dirent: «O Noé, tu as disputé avec nous et multiplié les discussions. Apporte-nous donc ce dont tu nous menaces, si tu es du nombre des véridiques»

They said, "O Noah, you have disputed us and been frequent in dispute of us. So bring us what you threaten us, if you should be of the truthful

قَالَ إِنَّمَا يَاتِيكُم بِهِ اِ۬للَّهُ إِن شَآءَ وَمَآ أَنتُم بِمُعْجِزِينَۖ ﰠ

Qâla innamâ yâtîkum bihi llâhu in shâ'a wamâ antum bimu‘jizîn

Il dit: «C'est Allah seul qui vous l'apportera - s'Il veut - et vous ne saurez y échapper

He said, "Allah will only bring it to you if He wills, and you will not cause [Him] failure

وَلَا يَنفَعُكُمْ نُصْحِيَ إِنَ اَرَدتُّ أَنَ اَنصَحَ لَكُمُۥٓ إِن كَانَ اَ۬للَّهُ يُرِيدُ أَنْ يُّغْوِيَكُمْۖ هُوَ رَبُّكُمْۖ وَإِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَۖ ﰡ

Walâ yanfa‘ukum nushiya ina radttu ana nsaha lakumû in kâna llâhu yurîdu ay yughwiyakum huwa rabbukum wa'ilayhi turja‘ûn

Et mon conseil ne vous profiterait pas, au cas où je voulais vous conseiller, et qu'Allah veuille vous égarer. Il est votre Seigneur, et c'est vers Lui que vous serez ramenés»

And my advice will not benefit you - although I wished to advise you - If Allah should intend to put you in error. He is your Lord, and to Him you will be returned

أَمْ يَقُولُونَ اَ۪فْتَر۪يٰهُۖ قُلِ اِنِ اِ۪فْتَرَيْتُهُۥ فَعَلَيَّ إِجْرَامِے وَأَنَا بَرِےٓءٞ مِّمَّا تُجْرِمُونَۖ ﰢ

Am yaqûlûna ftarêhu quli ni ftaraytuhû fa‘alayya ijrâmî wa'anâ barî'um mimmâ tujrimûn

Ou bien ils disent: il l'a inventé? Dis: «Si je l'ai inventé, que mon crime retombe sur moi! Et je suis innocent de vos criminelles accusations»

Or do they say [about Prophet Muhammad], "He invented it"? Say, "If I have invented it, then upon me is [the consequence of] my crime; but I am innocent of what [crimes] you commit

وَأُوحِيَ إِلَىٰ نُوحٍ اَنَّهُۥ لَنْ يُّومِنَ مِن قَوْمِكَ إِلَّا مَن قَدَ اٰمَنَۖ فَلَا تَبْتَئِسْ بِمَا كَانُواْ يَفْعَلُونَۖ ﰣ

Wa'ûhiya ilâ nûhina nnahû lay yûmina min qawmika illâ man qada âmana falâ tabta'is bimâ kânû yaf‘alûn

Et il fut révélé à Noé: «De ton peuple, il n'y aura plus de croyants que ceux qui ont déjà cru. Ne t'afflige pas de ce qu'ils faisaient

And it was revealed to Noah that, "No one will believe from your people except those who have already believed, so do not be distressed by what they have been doing

وَاصْنَعِ اِ۬لْفُلْكَ بِأَعْيُنِنَا وَوَحْيِنَاۖ وَلَا تُخَٰطِبْنِے فِے اِ۬لذِينَ ظَلَمُوٓاْ إِنَّهُم مُّغْرَقُونَۖ ﰤ

Wasna‘i lfulka bi'a‘yuninâ wawahyinâ walâ tukhâtibnî fî lladhîna zalamû innahum mughraqûn

Et construis l'arche sous Nos yeux et d'après Notre révélation. Et ne M'interpelle plus au sujet des injustes, car ils vont être noyés»

And construct the ship under Our observation and Our inspiration and do not address Me concerning those who have wronged; indeed, they are [to be] drowned

وَيَصْنَعُ اُ۬لْفُلْكَ وَكُلَّمَا مَرَّ عَلَيْهِ مَلَأٞ مِّن قَوْمِهِۦ سَخِرُواْ مِنْهُۖ قَالَ إِن تَسْخَرُواْ مِنَّا فَإِنَّا نَسْخَرُ مِنكُمْ كَمَا تَسْخَرُونَۖ ﰥ

Wayasna‘u lfulka wakullamâ marra ‘alayhi mala'um min qawmihî sakhirû minhu qâla in taskharû minnâ fa'innâ naskharu minkum kamâ taskharûn

Et il construisait l'arche. Et chaque fois que des notables de son peuple passaient près de lui, ils se moquaient de lui. Il dit: «Si vous vous moquez de nous, eh bien, nous nous moquerons de vous, comme vous vous moquez [de nous]

And he constructed the ship, and whenever an assembly of the eminent of his people passed by him, they ridiculed him. He said, "If you ridicule us, then we will ridicule you just as you ridicule

فَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ مَنْ يَّاتِيهِ عَذَابٞ يُخْزِيهِ وَيَحِلُّ عَلَيْهِ عَذَابٞ مُّقِيمٌۖ ﰦ

Fasawfa ta‘lamûna may yâtîhi ‘adhâbun yukhzîhi wayahillu ‘alayhi ‘adhâbum muqîm

Et vous saurez bientôt à qui viendra un châtiment qui l'humiliera, et sur qui s'abattra un châtiment durable!»

And you are going to know who will get a punishment that will disgrace him [on earth] and upon whom will descend an enduring punishment [in the Hereafter]

حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا جَآءَ امْرُنَا وَفَارَ اَ۬لتَّنُّورُ قُلْنَا اَ۪حْمِلْ فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ زَوْجَيْنِ اِ۪ثْنَيْنِ وَأَهْلَكَ إِلَّا مَن سَبَقَ عَلَيْهِ اِ۬لْقَوْلُ وَمَنَ اٰمَنَۖ وَمَآ ءَامَنَ مَعَهُۥٓ إِلَّا قَلِيلٞۖ ﰧ

Hattâ idhâ jâ'a âmrunâ wafâra ttannûru qulnâ hmil fîhâ min kulli zawjayni thnayni wa'ahlaka illâ man sabaqa ‘alayhi lqawlu wamana âmana wamâ âmana ma‘ahû illâ qalîl

Puis, lorsque Notre commandement vint et que le four se mit à bouillonner [d'eau], Nous dîmes: «Charge [dans l'arche] un couple de chaque espèce ainsi que ta famille - sauf ceux contre qui le décret est déjà prononcé - et ceux qui croient». Or, ceux qui avaient cru avec lui étaient peu nombreux

[So it was], until when Our command came and the oven overflowed, We said, "Load upon the ship of each [creature] two mates and your family, except those about whom the word has preceded, and [include] whoever has believed." But none had believed with him, except a few

۞ وَقَالَ اَ۪رْكَبُواْ فِيهَا بِسْمِ اِ۬للَّهِ مُجْر۪يٰهَا وَمُرْس۪يٰهَآۖ إِنَّ رَبِّے لَغَفُورٞ رَّحِيمٞۖ ﰨ

Waqâla rkabû fîhâ bismi llâhi mujrêhâ wamursêhâ inna rabbî laghafûrur rahîm

Et il dit: «Montez dedans. Que sa course et son mouillage soient au nom d'Allah. Certes mon Seigneur est Pardonneur et Miséricordieux»

And [Noah] said, "Embark therein; in the name of Allah is its course and its anchorage. Indeed, my Lord is Forgiving and Merciful

وَهِيَ تَجْرِے بِهِمْ فِے مَوْجٖ كَالْجِبَالِۖ وَنَاد۪ىٰ نُوحٌ اِ۪بْنَهُۥ وَكَانَ فِے مَعْزِلٖ يَٰبُنَيِّ اِ۪رْكَبْ مَعَنَا وَلَا تَكُن مَّعَ اَ۬لْكٰ۪فِرِينَۖ ﰩ

Wahiya tajrî bihim fî mawjin kaljibâli wanâdê nûhuni bnahû wakâna fî ma‘zilin yâbunayyi rkab ma‘anâ walâ takum ma‘a lkêfirîn

Et elle vogua en les emportant au milieu des vagues comme des montagnes. Et Noé appela son fils, qui restait en un lieu écarté (non loin de l'arche): «O mon enfant, monte avec nous et ne reste pas avec les mécréants»

And it sailed with them through waves like mountains, and Noah called to his son who was apart [from them], "O my son, come aboard with us and be not with the disbelievers

قَالَ سَـَٔاوِےٓ إِلَىٰ جَبَلٖ يَعْصِمُنِے مِنَ اَ۬لْمَآءِۖ قَالَ لَا عَٰصِمَ اَ۬لْيَوْمَ مِنَ اَمْرِ اِ۬للَّهِ إِلَّا مَن رَّحِمَۖ وَحَالَ بَيْنَهُمَا اَ۬لْمَوْجُ فَكَانَ مِنَ اَ۬لْمُغْرَقِينَۖ ﰪ

Qâla sa'âwî ilâ jabalin ya‘simunî mina lmâ'i qâla lâ ‘âsima lyawma mina mri llâhi illâ mar rahima wahâla baynahumâ lmawju fakâna mina lmughraqîn

Il répondit: «Je vais me réfugier vers un mont qui me protègera de l'eau». Et Noé lui dit: «Il n'y a aujourd'hui aucun protecteur contre l'ordre d'Allah. (Tous périront) sauf celui à qui Il fait miséricorde». Et les vagues s'interposèrent entre les deux, et le fils fut alors du nombre des noyés

[But] he said, "I will take refuge on a mountain to protect me from the water." [Noah] said, "There is no protector today from the decree of Allah, except for whom He gives mercy." And the waves came between them, and he was among the drowned

وَقِيلَ يَٰٓأَرْضُ اُ۪بْلَعِے مَآءَكِ وَيَٰسَمَآءُ اَ۬قْلِعِےۖ وَغِيضَ اَ۬لْمَآءُ وَقُضِيَ اَ۬لَامْرُ وَاسْتَوَتْ عَلَى اَ۬لْجُودِيِّۖ وَقِيلَ بُعْداٗ لِّلْقَوْمِ اِ۬لظَّٰلِمِينَۖ ﰫ

Waqîla yâ'ardu bla‘î mâ'aki wayâsamâ'u qli‘î waghîda lmâ'u waqudiya lamru wastawat ‘alâ ljûdiyyi waqîla bu‘dal lilqawmi zzâlimîn

Et il fut dit: «O terre, absorbe ton eau! Et toi, ciel, cesse [de pleuvoir]!» L'eau baissa, l'ordre fut exécuté et l'arche s'installa sur le Jûdi, et il fut dit: «Que disparaissent les gens pervers»

And it was said, "O earth, swallow your water, and O sky, withhold [your rain]." And the water subsided, and the matter was accomplished, and the ship came to rest on the [mountain of] Judiyy. And it was said, "Away with the wrongdoing people

وَنَاد۪ىٰ نُوحٞ رَّبَّهُۥ فَقَالَ رَبِّ إِنَّ اَ۪بْنِے مِنَ اَهْلِے وَإِنَّ وَعْدَكَ اَ۬لْحَقُّۖ وَأَنتَ أَحْكَمُ اُ۬لْحَٰكِمِينَۖ ﰬ

Wanâdê nûhur rabbahû faqâla rabbi inna bnî mina hlî wa'inna wa‘daka lhaqqu wa'anta ahkamu lhâkimîn

Et Noé invoqua son Seigneur et dit: «O mon Seigneur, certes mon fils est de ma famille et Ta promesse est vérité. Tu es le plus juste des juges»

And Noah called to his Lord and said, "My Lord, indeed my son is of my family; and indeed, Your promise is true; and You are the most just of judges

قَالَ يَٰنُوحُ إِنَّهُۥ لَيْسَ مِنَ اَهْلِكَۖ إِنَّهُۥ عَمَلٌ غَيْرُ صَٰلِحٖۖ فَلَا تَسْـَٔلَنِّۦ مَا لَيْسَ لَكَ بِهِۦ عِلْمٌۖ اِنِّيَ أَعِظُكَ أَن تَكُونَ مِنَ اَ۬لْجَٰهِلِينَۖ ﰭ

Qâla yânûhu innahû laysa mina hlika innahû ‘amalun ghayru sâlihin falâ tas'alannî mâ laysa laka bihî ‘ilmuni nniya a‘izuka an takûna mina ljâhilîn

Il dit: «O Noé, il n'est pas de ta famille car il a commis un acte infâme. Ne me demande pas ce dont tu n'as aucune connaissance. Je t'exhorte afin que tu ne sois pas du nombre des ignorants»

He said, "O Noah, indeed he is not of your family; indeed, he is [one whose] work was other than righteous, so ask Me not for that about which you have no knowledge. Indeed, I advise you, lest you be among the ignorant

قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّيَ أَعُوذُ بِكَ أَنَ اَسْـَٔلَكَ مَا لَيْسَ لِے بِهِۦ عِلْمٞۖ وَإِلَّا تَغْفِرْ لِے وَتَرْحَمْنِےٓ أَكُن مِّنَ اَ۬لْخَٰسِرِينَۖ ﰮ

Qâla rabbi inniya a‘ûdhu bika ana s'alaka mâ laysa lî bihî ‘ilmun wa'illâ taghfir lî watarhamnî akum mina lkhâsirîn

Alors Noé dit: «Seigneur, je cherche Ta protection contre toute demande de ce dont je n'ai aucune connaissance. Et si Tu ne me pardonnes pas et ne me fais pas miséricorde, je serai au nombre des perdants»

[Noah] said, "My Lord, I seek refuge in You from asking that of which I have no knowledge. And unless You forgive me and have mercy upon me, I will be among the losers

قِيلَ يَٰنُوحُ اُ۪هْبِطْ بِسَلَٰمٖ مِّنَّا وَبَرَكَٰتٍ عَلَيْكَ وَعَلَىٰٓ أُمَمٖ مِّمَّن مَّعَكَۖ وَأُمَمٞ سَنُمَتِّعُهُمْ ثُمَّ يَمَسُّهُم مِّنَّا عَذَابٌ اَلِيمٞۖ ﰯ

Qîla yânûhu hbit bisalâmim minnâ wabarakâtin ‘alayka wa‘alâ umamim mimmam ma‘aka wa'umamun sanumatti‘uhum thumma yamassuhum minnâ ‘adhâbuna lîm

Il fut dit: «O Noé, débarque avec Notre sécurité et Nos bénédictions sur toi et sur des communautés [issues] de ceux qui sont avec toi. Et il y (en) aura des communautés auxquelles Nous accorderons une jouissance temporaire; puis un châtiment douloureux venant de Nous les touchera»

It was said, "O Noah, disembark in security from Us and blessings upon you and upon nations [descending] from those with you. But other nations [of them] We will grant enjoyment; then there will touch them from Us a painful punishment

تِلْكَ مِنَ اَنۢبَآءِ اِ۬لْغَيْبِ نُوحِيهَآ إِلَيْكَۖ مَا كُنتَ تَعْلَمُهَآ أَنتَ وَلَا قَوْمُكَ مِن قَبْلِ هَٰذَاۖ فَاصْبِرِۖ اِنَّ اَ۬لْعَٰقِبَةَ لِلْمُتَّقِينَۖ ﰰ

Tilka mina mbâ'i lghaybi nûhîhâ ilayka mâ kunta ta‘lamuhâ anta walâ qawmuka min qabli hâdhâ fasbiri nna l‘âqibata lilmuttaqîn

Voilà quelques nouvelles de l'Inconnaissable que Nous te révélons. Tu ne les savais pas, ni toi ni ton peuple, avant cela. Sois patient. La fin heureuse sera aux pieux

That is from the news of the unseen which We reveal to you, [O Muhammad]. You knew it not, neither you nor your people, before this. So be patient; indeed, the [best] outcome is for the righteous

وَإِلَىٰ عَادٍ اَخَاهُمْ هُوداٗۖ قَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ اِ۟عْبُدُواْ اُ۬للَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنِ اِلَٰهٍ غَيْرُهُۥٓۖ إِنَ اَنتُمُۥٓ إِلَّا مُفْتَرُونَۖ ﰱ

Wa'ilâ ‘âdina khâhum hûdan qâla yâqawmi ‘budû llâha mâ lakum mini lâhin ghayruhû ina ntumû illâ muftarûn

Et (Nous avons envoyé) aux 'Aad, leur frère Hûd, qui leur dit: «O mon peuple, adorez Allah. Vous n'avez point de divinité à part Lui. Vous n'êtes que des forgeurs (de mensonges)

And to 'Aad [We sent] their brother Hud. He said, "O my people, worship Allah; you have no deity other than Him. You are not but inventors [of falsehood]

يَٰقَوْمِ لَآ أَسْـَٔلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِ أَجْراًۖ اِنَ اَجْرِيَ إِلَّا عَلَى اَ۬لذِے فَطَرَنِيَۖ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَۖ ﰲ

Yâqawmi lâ as'alukum ‘alayhi ajrani na jriya illâ ‘alâ lladhî fataraniya afalâ ta‘qilûn

O mon peuple, je ne vous demande pas de salaire pour cela. Mon salaire n'incombe qu'à Celui qui m'a créé. Ne raisonnez-vous pas

O my people, I do not ask you for it any reward. My reward is only from the one who created me. Then will you not reason

وَيَٰقَوْمِ اِ۪سْتَغْفِرُواْ رَبَّكُمْ ثُمَّ تُوبُوٓاْ إِلَيْهِ يُرْسِلِ اِ۬لسَّمَآءَ عَلَيْكُم مِّدْرَاراٗ وَيَزِدْكُمْ قُوَّةً اِلَىٰ قُوَّتِكُمْ وَلَا تَتَوَلَّوْاْ مُجْرِمِينَۖ ﰳ

Wayâqawmi staghfirû rabbakum thumma tûbû ilayhi yursili ssamâ'a ‘alaykum midrâran wayazidkum quwwatani lâ quwwatikum walâ tatawallaw mujrimîn

O mon peuple, implorez le pardon de votre Seigneur et repentez-vous à Lui pour qu'Il envoie sur vous du ciel des pluies abondantes et qu'Il ajoute force à votre force. Et ne vous détournez pas [de Lui] en devenant coupables»

And O my people, ask forgiveness of your Lord and then repent to Him. He will send [rain from] the sky upon you in showers and increase you in strength [added] to your strength. And do not turn away, [being] criminals

۞ قَالُواْ يَٰهُودُ مَا جِئْتَنَا بِبَيِّنَةٖ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِتَارِكِےٓ ءَالِهَتِنَا عَن قَوْلِكَ وَمَا نَحْنُ لَكَ بِمُومِنِينَۖ ﰴ

Qâlû yâhûdu mâ jî'tanâ bibayyinatin wamâ nahnu bitârikî âlihatinâ ‘an qawlika wamâ nahnu laka bimûminîn

Ils dirent: «O Hûd, tu n'es pas venu à nous avec une preuve, et nous ne sommes pas disposés à abandonner nos divinités sur ta parole, et nous n'avons pas foi en toi

They said, "O Hud, you have not brought us clear evidence, and we are not ones to leave our gods on your say-so. Nor are we believers in you

إِن نَّقُولُ إِلَّا اَ۪عْتَر۪يٰكَ بَعْضُ ءَالِهَتِنَا بِسُوٓءٖۖ قَالَ إِنِّيَ أُشْهِدُ اُ۬للَّهَۖ وَاشْهَدُوٓاْ أَنِّے بَرِےٓءٞ مِّمَّا تُشْرِكُونَ مِن دُونِهِۦۖ فَكِيدُونِے جَمِيعاٗ ثُمَّ لَا تُنظِرُونِۖ ﰵ

In naqûlu illâ ‘tarêka ba‘du âlihatinâ bisû'in qâla inniya ushhidu llâha washhadû annî barî'um mimmâ tushrikûna min dûnihî fakîdûnî jamî‘an thumma lâ tunzirûn

Nous dirons plutôt qu'une de nos divinités t'a affligé d'un mal». Il dit: «Je prends Allah à témoin - et vous aussi soyez témoins - qu'en vérité, je désavoue ce que vous associez en dehors de Lui. Rusez donc tous contre moi et ne me donnez pas de répit

We only say that some of our gods have possessed you with evil." He said, "Indeed, I call Allah to witness, and witness [yourselves] that I am free from whatever you associate with Allah Other than Him. So plot against me all together; then do not give me respite

إِنِّے تَوَكَّلْتُ عَلَى اَ۬للَّهِ رَبِّے وَرَبِّكُمۖ مَّا مِن دَآبَّةٍ اِلَّا هُوَ ءَاخِذُۢ بِنَاصِيَتِهَآۖ إِنَّ رَبِّے عَلَىٰ صِرَٰطٖ مُّسْتَقِيمٖۖ ﰶ

Innî tawakkaltu ‘alâ llâhi rabbî warabbikum mâ min dâbbatini llâ huwa âkhidhum binâsiyatihâ inna rabbî ‘alâ sirâtim mustaqîm

Je place ma confiance en Allah, mon Seigneur et le vôtre. Il n'y a pas d'être vivant qu'Il ne tienne par son toupet. Mon Seigneur, certes, est sur un droit chemin

Indeed, I have relied upon Allah, my Lord and your Lord. There is no creature but that He holds its forelock. Indeed, my Lord is on a path [that is] straight

فَإِن تَوَلَّوْاْ فَقَدَ اَبْلَغْتُكُم مَّآ أُرْسِلْتُ بِهِۦٓ إِلَيْكُمْۖ وَيَسْتَخْلِفُ رَبِّے قَوْماً غَيْرَكُمْ وَلَا تَضُرُّونَهُۥ شَئْاًۖ اِنَّ رَبِّے عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَےْءٍ حَفِيظٞۖ ﰷ

Fa'in tawallaw faqada blaghtukum mâ ursiltu bihî ilaykum wayastakhlifu rabbî qawman ghayrakum walâ tadurrûnahû shay'ani nna rabbî ‘alâ kulli shay'in hafîz

Si vous vous détournez... voilà que je vous ai transmis [le message] que j'étais chargé de vous faire parvenir. Et mon Seigneur vous remplacera par un autre peuple, sans que vous ne Lui nuisiez en rien, car mon Seigneur, est gardien par excellence sur toute chose»

But if they turn away, [say], "I have already conveyed that with which I was sent to you. My Lord will give succession to a people other than you, and you will not harm Him at all. Indeed my Lord is, over all things, Guardian

وَلَمَّا جَآءَ امْرُنَا نَجَّيْنَا هُوداٗ وَالذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ مَعَهُۥ بِرَحْمَةٖ مِّنَّا وَنَجَّيْنَٰهُم مِّنْ عَذَابٍ غَلِيظٖۖ ﰸ

Walammâ jâ'a âmrunâ najjaynâ hûdan walladhîna âmanû ma‘ahû birahmatim minnâ wanajjaynâhum min ‘adhâbin ghalîz

Et quand vint Notre Ordre, Nous sauvâmes par une miséricorde de Notre part, Hûd et ceux qui avec lui avaient cru. Et Nous les sauvâmes d'un terrible châtiment

And when Our command came, We saved Hud and those who believed with him, by mercy from Us; and We saved them from a harsh punishment

وَتِلْكَ عَادٞ جَحَدُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِ رَبِّهِمْ وَعَصَوْاْ رُسُلَهُۥ وَاتَّبَعُوٓاْ أَمْرَ كُلِّ جَبّ۪ارٍ عَنِيدٖۖ ﰹ

Watilka ‘âdun jahadû bi'âyâti rabbihim wa‘asaw rusulahû wattaba‘û amra kulli jabbêrin ‘anîd

Voilà les 'Aad. Ils avaient nié les signes (enseignements) de leur Seigneur, désobéi à Ses messagers et suivi le commandement de tout tyran entêté

And that was 'Aad, who rejected the signs of their Lord and disobeyed His messengers and followed the order of every obstinate tyrant

وَأُتْبِعُواْ فِے هَٰذِهِ اِ۬لدُّنْي۪ا لَعْنَةٗ وَيَوْمَ اَ۬لْقِيَٰمَةِۖ أَلَآ إِنَّ عَاداٗ كَفَرُواْ رَبَّهُمُۥٓۖ أَلَا بُعْداٗ لِّعَادٖ قَوْمِ هُودٖۖ ﰺ

Wa'utbi‘û fî hâdhihi ddunyê la‘natan wayawma lqiyâmati alâ inna ‘âdan kafarû rabbahumû alâ bu‘dal li‘âdin qawmi hûd

Et ils furent poursuivis, ici-bas, d'une malédiction, ainsi qu'au Jour de la Résurrection. En vérité, les 'Aad n'ont pas cru en leur Seigneur. Que s'éloignent (périssent) les 'Aad, peuple de Hûd

And they were [therefore] followed in this world with a curse and [as well] on the Day of Resurrection. Unquestionably, 'Aad denied their Lord; then away with 'Aad, the people of Hud

وَإِلَىٰ ثَمُودَ أَخَاهُمْ صَٰلِحاٗۖ قَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ اِ۟عْبُدُواْ اُ۬للَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنِ اِلَٰهٍ غَيْرُهُۥۖ هُوَ أَنشَأَكُم مِّنَ اَ۬لَارْضِ وَاسْتَعْمَرَكُمْ فِيهَا فَاسْتَغْفِرُوهُ ثُمَّ تُوبُوٓاْ إِلَيْهِۖ إِنَّ رَبِّے قَرِيبٞ مُّجِيبٞۖ ﰻ

Wa'ilâ thamûda akhâhum sâlihan qâla yâqawmi ‘budû llâha mâ lakum mini lâhin ghayruhû huwa ansha'akum mina lardi wasta‘marakum fîhâ fastaghfirûhu thumma tûbû ilayhi inna rabbî qarîbum mujîb

Et (Nous avons envoyé) aux Thamûd, leur frère Sâlih qui dit: «O mon peuple, adorez Allah. Vous n'avez point de divinité en dehors de Lui. De la terre Il vous a créés, et Il vous l'a fait peupler (et exploiter). Implorez donc Son pardon, puis repentez-vous à Lui. Mon Seigneur est bien proche et Il répond toujours (aux appels)»

And to Thamud [We sent] their brother Salih. He said, "O my people, worship Allah; you have no deity other than Him. He has produced you from the earth and settled you in it, so ask forgiveness of Him and then repent to Him. Indeed, my Lord is near and responsive

۞ قَالُواْ يَٰصَٰلِحُ قَدْ كُنتَ فِينَا مَرْجُوّاٗ قَبْلَ هَٰذَآ أَتَنْه۪يٰنَآ أَن نَّعْبُدَ مَا يَعْبُدُ ءَابَآؤُنَا وَإِنَّنَا لَفِے شَكّٖ مِّمَّا تَدْعُونَآ إِلَيْهِ مُرِيبٖۖ ﰼ

Qâlû yâsâlihu qad kunta fînâ marjuwwan qabla hâdhâ atanhênâ an na‘buda mâ ya‘budu âbâ'unâ wa'innanâ lafî shakkim mimmâ tad‘ûnâ ilayhi murîb

Ils dirent: «O Sâlih, tu étais auparavant un espoir pour nous. Nous interdirais-tu d'adorer ce qu'adoraient nos ancêtres? Cependant, nous voilà bien dans un doute troublant au sujet de ce vers quoi tu nous invites»

They said, "O Salih, you were among us a man of promise before this. Do you forbid us to worship what our fathers worshipped? And indeed we are, about that to which you invite us, in disquieting doubt

قَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ أَرَٰٓيْتُمُۥٓ إِن كُنتُ عَلَىٰ بَيِّنَةٖ مِّن رَّبِّے وَءَات۪يٰنِے مِنْهُ رَحْمَةٗ فَمَنْ يَّنصُرُنِے مِنَ اَ۬للَّهِ إِنْ عَصَيْتُهُۥۖ فَمَا تَزِيدُونَنِے غَيْرَ تَخْسِيرٖۖ ﰽ

Qâla yâqawmi arâytumû in kuntu ‘alâ bayyinatim mir rabbî wa'âtênî minhu rahmatan famay yansurunî mina llâhi in ‘asaytuhû famâ tazîdûnanî ghayra takhsîr

Il dit: «O mon peuple! Que vous en semble, si je m'appuie sur une preuve évidente émanant de mon Seigneur et s'Il m'a accordé, de Sa part, une miséricorde, qui donc me protègera contre Allah si je Lui désobéis? Vous ne ferez qu'accroître ma perte

He said, "O my people, have you considered: if I should be upon clear evidence from my Lord and He has given me mercy from Himself, who would protect me from Allah if I disobeyed Him? So you would not increase me except in loss

وَيَٰقَوْمِ هَٰذِهِۦ نَاقَةُ اُ۬للَّهِ لَكُمُۥٓ ءَايَةٗۖ فَذَرُوهَا تَاكُلْ فِےٓ أَرْضِ اِ۬للَّهِۖ وَلَا تَمَسُّوهَا بِسُوٓءٖ فَيَاخُذَكُمْ عَذَابٞ قَرِيبٞۖ ﰾ

Wayâqawmi hâdhihî nâqatu llâhi lakumû âyatan fadharûhâ tâkul fî ardi llâhi walâ tamassûhâ bisû'in fayâkhudhakum ‘adhâbun qarîb

O mon peuple, voici la chamelle d'Allah qu'Il vous a envoyée comme signe. Laissez-la donc paître sur la terre d'Allah, et ne lui faites aucun mal sinon, un châtiment proche vous saisira!»

And O my people, this is the she-camel of Allah - [she is] to you a sign. So let her feed upon Allah 's earth and do not touch her with harm, or you will be taken by an impending punishment

فَعَقَرُوهَا فَقَالَ تَمَتَّعُواْ فِے د۪ارِكُمْ ثَلَٰثَةَ أَيَّامٖۖ ذَٰلِكَ وَعْدٌ غَيْرُ مَكْذُوبٖۖ ﰿ

Fa‘aqarûhâ faqâla tamatta‘û fî dêrikum thalâthata ayyâmin dhâlika wa‘dun ghayru makdhûb

Ils la tuèrent. Alors, il leur dit: «Jouissez (de vos biens) dans vos demeures pendant trois jours (encore)! Voilà une promesse qui ne sera pas démentie»

But they hamstrung her, so he said, "Enjoy yourselves in your homes for three days. That is a promise not to be denied

فَلَمَّا جَآءَ امْرُنَا نَجَّيْنَا صَٰلِحاٗ وَالذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ مَعَهُۥ بِرَحْمَةٖ مِّنَّا وَمِنْ خِزْيِ يَوْمَئِذٍۖ اِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ اَ۬لْقَوِيُّ اُ۬لْعَزِيزُۖ ﱀ

Falammâ jâ'a âmrunâ najjaynâ sâlihan walladhîna âmanû ma‘ahû birahmatim minnâ wamin khizyi yawma'idhini nna rabbaka huwa lqawiyyu l‘azîz

Puis, lorsque Notre ordre vint, Nous sauvâmes Sâlih et ceux qui avaient cru avec lui, - par une miséricorde venant de Nous - de l'ignominie de ce jour-là. En vérité, c'est ton Seigneur qui est le Fort, le Puissant

So when Our command came, We saved Salih and those who believed with him, by mercy from Us, and [saved them] from the disgrace of that day. Indeed, it is your Lord who is the Powerful, the Exalted in Might

وَأَخَذَ اَ۬لذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ اُ۬لصَّيْحَةُ فَأَصْبَحُواْ فِے دِيٰ۪رِهِمْ جَٰثِمِينَ ﱁ

Wa'akhadha lladhîna zalamû ssayhatu fa'asbahû fî diêrihim jâthimîn

Et le Cri saisit les injustes. Et les voilà foudroyés dans leurs demeures

And the shriek seized those who had wronged, and they became within their homes [corpses] fallen prone

كَأَن لَّمْ يَغْنَوْاْ فِيهَآۖ أَلَآ إِنَّ ثَمُوداٗ كَفَرُواْ رَبَّهُمُۥٓۖ أَلَا بُعْداٗ لِّثَمُودَۖ ﱂ

Ka'al lam yaghnaw fîhâ alâ inna thamûdan kafarû rabbahumû alâ bu‘dal lithamûd

comme s'ils n'y avaient jamais prospéré. En vérité, les Thamûd n'ont pas cru en leur Seigneur. Que périssent les Thamûd

As if they had never prospered therein. Unquestionably, Thamud denied their Lord; then, away with Thamud

وَلَقَدْ جَآءَتْ رُسُلُنَآ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ بِالْبُشْر۪ىٰ قَالُواْ سَلَٰماٗۖ قَالَ سَلَٰمٞۖ فَمَا لَبِثَ أَن جَآءَ بِعِجْلٍ حَنِيذٖۖ ﱃ

Walaqad jâ'at rusulunâ ibrâhîma bilbushrê qâlû salâman qâla salâmun famâ labitha an jâ'a bi‘ijlin hanîdh

Et Nos émissaires sont, certes, venus à Abraham avec la bonne nouvelle, en disant: «Salâm!». Il dit: «Salâm!», et il ne tarda pas à apporter un veau rôti

And certainly did Our messengers come to Abraham with good tidings; they said, "Peace." He said, "Peace," and did not delay in bringing [them] a roasted calf

فَلَمَّا ر۪ء۪آ أَيْدِيَهُمْ لَا تَصِلُ إِلَيْهِ نَكِرَهُمْ وَأَوْجَسَ مِنْهُمْ خِيفَةٗۖ قَالُواْ لَا تَخَفِۖ اِنَّآ أُرْسِلْنَآ إِلَىٰ قَوْمِ لُوطٖۖ ﱄ

Falammâ re'ê aydiyahum lâ tasilu ilayhi nakirahum wa'awjasa minhum khîfatan qâlû lâ takhafi nnâ ursilnâ ilâ qawmi lût

Puis, lorsqu'il vit que leurs mains ne l'approchaient pas, il fut pris de suspicion à leur égard et ressentit de la peur vis-à-vis d'eux. Ils dirent: «N'aie pas peur, nous sommes envoyés au peuple de Lot»

But when he saw their hands not reaching for it, he distrusted them and felt from them apprehension. They said, "Fear not. We have been sent to the people of Lot

وَامْرَأَتُهُۥ قَآئِمَةٞ فَضَحِكَتْۖ فَبَشَّرْنَٰهَا بِإِسْحَٰقَۖ وَمِنْ وَّرَآءِ اسْحَٰقَ يَعْقُوبُۖ ﱅ

Wamra'atuhû qâ'imatun fadahikat fabashsharnâhâ bi'ishâqa wamiw warâ'i âshâqa ya‘qûb

Sa femme était debout, et elle rit alors; Nous lui annonçâmes donc (la naissance d') Isaac, et après Isaac, Jacob

And his Wife was standing, and she smiled. Then We gave her good tidings of Isaac and after Isaac, Jacob

قَالَتْ يَٰوَيْلَت۪ىٰٓ ءَالِدُ وَأَنَا عَجُوزٞ وَهَٰذَا بَعْلِے شَيْخاًۖ اِنَّ هَٰذَا لَشَےْءٌ عَجِيبٞۖ ﱆ

Qâlat yâwaylatê âlidu wa'anâ ‘ajûzun wahâdhâ ba‘lî shaykhani nna hâdhâ lashay'un ‘ajîb

Elle dit: «Malheur à moi! Vais-je enfanter alors que je suis vieille et que mon mari, que voici, est un vieillard? C'est là vraiment une chose étrange!»

She said, "Woe to me! Shall I give birth while I am an old woman and this, my husband, is an old man? Indeed, this is an amazing thing

۞ قَالُوٓاْ أَتَعْجَبِينَ مِنَ اَمْرِ اِ۬للَّهِۖ رَحْمَتُ اُ۬للَّهِ وَبَرَكَٰتُهُۥ عَلَيْكُمُۥٓ أَهْلَ اَ۬لْبَيْتِۖ إِنَّهُۥ حَمِيدٞ مَّجِيدٞۖ ﱇ

Qâlû ata‘jabîna mina mri llâhi rahmatu llâhi wabarakâtuhû ‘alaykumû ahla lbayti innahû hamîdum majîd

Ils dirent: «T'étonnes-tu de l'ordre d'Allah? Que la miséricorde d'Allah et Ses bénédictions soient sur vous, gens de cette maison! Il est vraiment, digne de louange et de glorification!»

They said, "Are you amazed at the decree of Allah? May the mercy of Allah and His blessings be upon you, people of the house. Indeed, He is Praiseworthy and Honorable

فَلَمَّا ذَهَبَ عَنِ اِبْرَٰهِيمَ اَ۬لرَّوْعُ وَجَآءَتْهُ اُ۬لْبُشْر۪ىٰ يُجَٰدِلُنَا فِے قَوْمِ لُوطٍۖ ﱈ

Falammâ dhahaba ‘ani brâhîma rraw‘u wajâ'athu lbushrê yujâdilunâ fî qawmi lût

Lorsque l'effroi eut quitté Abraham et que la bonne nouvelle l'eut atteint, voilà qu'il discuta avec Nous (en faveur) du peuple de Lot

And when the fright had left Abraham and the good tidings had reached him, he began to argue with Us concerning the people of Lot

اِنَّ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ لَحَلِيمٌ اَوَّٰهٞ مُّنِيبٞۖ ﱉ

Inna ibrâhîma lahalîmuna wwâhum munîb

Abraham était, certes, longanime, très implorant et repentant

Indeed, Abraham was forbearing, grieving and [frequently] returning [to Allah]

يَٰٓإِبْرَٰهِيمُ أَعْرِضْ عَنْ هَٰذَآۖ إِنَّهُۥ قَدْ جَآءَ امْرُ رَبِّكَۖ وَإِنَّهُمُۥٓ ءَاتِيهِمْ عَذَابٌ غَيْرُ مَرْدُودٖۖ ﱊ

Yâ'ibrâhîmu a‘rid ‘an hâdhâ innahû qad jâ'a âmru rabbika wa'innahumû âtîhim ‘adhâbun ghayru mardûd

O Abraham, renonce à cela; car l'ordre de Ton Seigneur est déjà venu, et un châtiment irrévocable va leur arriver»

[The angels said], "O Abraham, give up this [plea]. Indeed, the command of your Lord has come, and indeed, there will reach them a punishment that cannot be repelled

وَلَمَّا جَآءَتْ رُسُلُنَا لُوطاٗ س۬ےٓءَ بِهِمْ وَضَاقَ بِهِمْ ذَرْعاٗ وَقَالَ هَٰذَا يَوْمٌ عَصِيبٞۖ ﱋ

Walammâ jâ'at rusulunâ lûtan sy'a bihim wadâqa bihim dhar‘an waqâla hâdhâ yawmun ‘asîb

Et quand Nos émissaires (Anges) vinrent à Lot, il fut chagriné pour eux, et en éprouva une grande gêne. Et il dit: «Voici un jour terrible»

And when Our messengers, [the angels], came to Lot, he was anguished for them and felt for them great discomfort and said, "This is a trying day

وَجَآءَهُۥ قَوْمُهُۥ يُهْرَعُونَ إِلَيْهِ وَمِن قَبْلُ كَانُواْ يَعْمَلُونَ اَ۬لسَّيِّـَٔاتِۖ قَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ بَنَاتِے هُنَّ أَطْهَرُ لَكُمْ فَاتَّقُواْ اُ۬للَّهَ وَلَا تُخْزُونِ فِے ضَيْفِيَۖ أَلَيْسَ مِنكُمْ رَجُلٞ رَّشِيدٞۖ ﱌ

Wajâ'ahû qawmuhû yuhra‘ûna ilayhi wamin qablu kânû ya‘malûna ssayyi'âti qâla yâqawmi hâ'ulâ'i banâtî hunna atharu lakum fattaqû llâha walâ tukhzûni fî dayfiya alaysa minkum rajulur rashîd

Quant à son peuple, ils vinrent à lui, accourant. Auparavant ils commettaient des mauvaises actions. Il dit: «O mon peuple, voici mes filles: elles sont plus pures pour vous. Craignez Allah donc, et ne me déshonorez pas dans mes hôtes. N'y a-t-il pas parmi vous un homme raisonnable?»

And his people came hastening to him, and before [this] they had been doing evil deeds. He said, "O my people, these are my daughters; they are purer for you. So fear Allah and do not disgrace me concerning my guests. Is there not among you a man of reason

قَالُواْ لَقَدْ عَلِمْتَ مَا لَنَا فِے بَنَاتِكَ مِنْ حَقّٖ وَإِنَّكَ لَتَعْلَمُ مَا نُرِيدُۖ ﱍ

Qâlû laqad ‘alimta mâ lanâ fî banâtika min haqqin wa'innaka lata‘lamu mâ nurîd

Ils dirent: Tu sais très bien que nous n'avons pas de droit sur tes filles. Et en vérité, tu sais bien ce que nous voulons»

They said, "You have already known that we have not concerning your daughters any claim, and indeed, you know what we want

قَالَ لَوَ اَنَّ لِے بِكُمْ قُوَّةً اَوَ اٰوِےٓ إِلَىٰ رُكْنٖ شَدِيدٖۖ ﱎ

Qâla lawa nna lî bikum quwwatana wa âwî ilâ ruknin shadîd

Il dit: «[Ah!] si j'avais de la force pour vous résister! ou bien si je trouvais un appui solide!»

He said, "If only I had against you some power or could take refuge in a strong support

قَالُواْ يَٰلُوطُ إِنَّا رُسُلُ رَبِّكَ لَنْ يَّصِلُوٓاْ إِلَيْكَۖ فَاسْرِ بِأَهْلِكَ بِقِطْعٖ مِّنَ اَ۬ليْلِ وَلَا يَلْتَفِتْ مِنكُمُۥٓ أَحَدٌ اِلَّا اَ۪مْرَأَتَكَۖ إِنَّهُۥ مُصِيبُهَا مَآ أَصَابَهُمُۥٓۖ إِنَّ مَوْعِدَهُمُ اُ۬لصُّبْحُۖ أَلَيْسَ اَ۬لصُّبْحُ بِقَرِيبٖۖ ﱏ

Qâlû yâlûtu innâ rusulu rabbika lay yasilû ilayka fasri bi'ahlika biqit‘im mina llayli walâ yaltafit minkumû ahaduni llâ mra'ataka innahû musîbuhâ mâ asâbahumû inna maw‘idahumu ssubhu alaysa ssubhu biqarîb

Alors [les hôtes] dirent: «O Lot, nous sommes vraiment les émissaires de ton Seigneur. Ils ne pourront jamais t'atteindre. Pars avec ta famille à un moment de la nuit. Et que nul d'entre vous ne se retourne en arrière. Exception faite de ta femme qui sera atteinte par ce qui frappera les autres. Ce qui les menace s'accomplira à l'aube. L'aube n'est-elle pas proche?»

The angels said, "O Lot, indeed we are messengers of your Lord; [therefore], they will never reach you. So set out with your family during a portion of the night and let not any among you look back - except your wife; indeed, she will be struck by that which strikes them. Indeed, their appointment is [for] the morning. Is not the morning near

فَلَمَّا جَآءَ امْرُنَا جَعَلْنَا عَٰلِيَهَا سَافِلَهَا وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهَا حِجَارَةٗ مِّن سِجِّيلٖ ﱐ

Falammâ jâ'a âmrunâ ja‘alnâ ‘âliyahâ sâfilahâ wa'amtarnâ ‘alayhâ hijâratam min sijjîl

Et, lorsque vint Notre ordre, Nous renversâmes [la cité] de fond en comble, et fîmes pleuvoir sur elle en masse, des pierres d'argile succédant les unes aux autres

So when Our command came, We made the highest part [of the city] its lowest and rained upon them stones of layered hard clay, [which were]

مَّنضُودٖ مُّسَوَّمَةً عِندَ رَبِّكَۖ وَمَا هِيَ مِنَ اَ۬لظَّٰلِمِينَ بِبَعِيدٖۖ ﱑ

Mandûdim musawwamatan ‘inda rabbika wamâ hiya mina zzâlimîna biba‘îd

portant une marque connue de ton Seigneur. Et elles (ces pierres) ne sont pas loin des injustes

Marked from your Lord. And Allah 's punishment is not from the wrongdoers [very] far

۞ وَإِلَىٰ مَدْيَنَ أَخَاهُمْ شُعَيْباٗۖ قَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ اِ۟عْبُدُواْ اُ۬للَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنِ اِلَٰهٍ غَيْرُهُۥۖ وَلَا تَنقُصُواْ اُ۬لْمِكْيَالَ وَالْمِيزَانَۖ إِنِّيَ أَر۪يٰكُم بِخَيْرٖ وَإِنِّيَ أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْمٖ مُّحِيطٖۖ ﱒ

Wa'ilâ madyana akhâhum shu‘ayban qâla yâqawmi ‘budû llâha mâ lakum mini lâhin ghayruhû walâ tanqusû lmikyâla walmîzâna inniya arêkum bikhayrin wa'inniya akhâfu ‘alaykum ‘adhâba yawmim muhît

Et (Nous avons envoyé) aux Madyan, leur frère Chuayb qui leur dit: «O mon peuple, adorez Allah; vous n'avez point de divinité en dehors Lui. Et ne diminuez pas les mesures et le poids. Je vous vois dans l'aisance, et je crains pour vous [si vous ne croyez pas] le châtiment d'un jour qui enveloppera tout

And to Madyan [We sent] their brother Shu'ayb. He said, "O my people, worship Allah; you have no deity other than Him. And do not decrease from the measure and the scale. Indeed, I see you in prosperity, but indeed, I fear for you the punishment of an all-encompassing Day

وَيَٰقَوْمِ أَوْفُواْ اُ۬لْمِكْيَالَ وَالْمِيزَانَ بِالْقِسْطِۖ وَلَا تَبْخَسُواْ اُ۬لنَّاسَ أَشْيَآءَهُمْ وَلَا تَعْثَوْاْ فِے اِ۬لَارْضِ مُفْسِدِينَۖ ﱓ

Wayâqawmi awfû lmikyâla walmîzâna bilqisti walâ tabkhasû nnâsa ashyâ'ahum walâ ta‘thaw fî lardi mufsidîn

O mon peuple, faites équitablement pleine mesure et plein poids, ne dépréciez pas aux gens leurs valeurs et ne semez pas la corruption sur terre

And O my people, give full measure and weight in justice and do not deprive the people of their due and do not commit abuse on the earth, spreading corruption

بَقِيَّتُ اُ۬للَّهِ خَيْرٞ لَّكُمُۥٓ إِن كُنتُم مُّومِنِينَۖ ﱔ

Baqiyyatu llâhi khayrul lakumû in kuntum mûminîn

Ce qui demeure auprès d'Allah est meilleur pour vous si vous êtes croyants! Et je ne suis pas un gardien pour vous»

What remains [lawful] from Allah is best for you, if you would be believers. But I am not a guardian over you

وَمَآ أَنَا عَلَيْكُم بِحَفِيظٖۖ ﱕ

Wamâ anâ ‘alaykum bihafîz

قَالُواْ يَٰشُعَيْبُ أَصَلَوَٰتُكَ تَامُرُكَ أَن نَّتْرُكَ مَا يَعْبُدُ ءَابَآؤُنَآ أَوَ اَن نَّفْعَلَ فِےٓ أَمْوَٰلِنَا مَا نَشَٰٓؤُاْۖ اِ۪نَّكَ لَأَنتَ اَ۬لْحَلِيمُ اُ۬لرَّشِيدُۖ ﱖ

Qâlû yâshu‘aybu asalawâtuka tâmuruka an natruka mâ ya‘budu âbâ'unâ awa n naf‘ala fî amwâlinâ mâ nashâ'u nnaka la'anta lhalîmu rrashîd

Ils dirent: «O Chuayb! Est-ce que ta prière te demande de nous faire abandonner ce qu'adoraient nos ancêtres, ou de ne plus faire de nos biens ce que nous voulons? Est-ce toi l'indulgent, le droit?»

They said, "O Shu'ayb, does your prayer command you that we should leave what our fathers worship or not do with our wealth what we please? Indeed, you are the forbearing, the discerning

قَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ أَرَٰٓيْتُمُۥٓ إِن كُنتُ عَلَىٰ بَيِّنَةٖ مِّن رَّبِّے وَرَزَقَنِے مِنْهُ رِزْقاً حَسَناٗۖ وَمَآ أُرِيدُ أَنُ ا۟خَالِفَكُمُۥٓ إِلَىٰ مَآ أَنْه۪يٰكُمْ عَنْهُۖ إِنُ ا۟رِيدُ إِلَّا اَ۬لِاصْلَٰحَ مَا اَ۪سْتَطَعْتُۖ وَمَا تَوْفِيقِيَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِۖ عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُۖ وَإِلَيْهِ أُنِيبُۖ ﱗ

Qâla yâqawmi arâytumû in kuntu ‘alâ bayyinatim mir rabbî warazaqanî minhu rizqan hasanan wamâ urîdu anu ukhâlifakumû ilâ mâ anhêkum ‘anhu inu urîdu illâ lislâha mâ stata‘tu wamâ tawfîqiya illâ billâhi ‘alayhi tawakkaltu wa'ilayhi unîb

Il dit: «O mon peuple, voyez-vous si je me base sur une preuve évidente émanant de mon Seigneur, et s'Il m'attribue de Sa part une excellente donation?... Je ne veux nullement faire ce que je vous interdis. Je ne veux que la réforme, autant que je le puis. Et ma réussite ne dépend que d'Allah. En Lui je place ma confiance, et c'est vers Lui que je reviens repentant

He said, "O my people, have you considered: if I am upon clear evidence from my Lord and He has provided me with a good provision from Him...? And I do not intend to differ from you in that which I have forbidden you; I only intend reform as much as I am able. And my success is not but through Allah. Upon him I have relied, and to Him I return

وَيَٰقَوْمِ لَا يَجْرِمَنَّكُمْ شِقَاقِيَ أَنْ يُّصِيبَكُم مِّثْلُ مَآ أَصَابَ قَوْمَ نُوحٍ اَوْ قَوْمَ هُودٍ اَوْ قَوْمَ صَٰلِحٖۖ وَمَا قَوْمُ لُوطٖ مِّنكُم بِبَعِيدٖۖ ﱘ

Wayâqawmi lâ yajrimannakum shiqâqiya ay yusîbakum mithlu mâ asâba qawma nûhina w qawma hûdina w qawma sâlihin wamâ qawmu lûtim minkum biba‘îd

O mon peuple, que votre répugnance et votre hostilité à mon égard ne vous entraînent pas à encourir les mêmes châtiments qui atteignirent le peuple de Noé, le peuple de Hûd, ou le peuple de Sâlih et (l'exemple du) peuple de Lot n'est pas éloigné de vous

And O my people, let not [your] dissension from me cause you to be struck by that similar to what struck the people of Noah or the people of Hud or the people of Salih. And the people of Lot are not from you far away

وَاسْتَغْفِرُواْ رَبَّكُمْ ثُمَّ تُوبُوٓاْ إِلَيْهِۖ إِنَّ رَبِّے رَحِيمٞ وَدُودٞۖ ﱙ

Wastaghfirû rabbakum thumma tûbû ilayhi inna rabbî rahîmun wadûd

Et implorez le pardon de votre Seigneur et repentez-vous à Lui. Mon Seigneur est vraiment Miséricordieux et plein d'amour»

And ask forgiveness of your Lord and then repent to Him. Indeed, my Lord is Merciful and Affectionate

قَالُواْ يَٰشُعَيْبُ مَا نَفْقَهُ كَثِيراٗ مِّمَّا تَقُولُ وَإِنَّا لَنَر۪يٰكَ فِينَا ضَعِيفاٗ وَلَوْلَا رَهْطُكَ لَرَجَمْنَٰكَ وَمَآ أَنتَ عَلَيْنَا بِعَزِيزٖۖ ﱚ

Qâlû yâshu‘aybu mâ nafqahu kathîram mimmâ taqûlu wa'innâ lanarêka fînâ da‘îfan walawlâ rahtuka larajamnâka wamâ anta ‘alaynâ bi‘azîz

Ils dirent: «O Chuayb, nous ne comprenons pas grand chose à ce que tu dis; et vraiment nous te considérons comme un faible parmi nous. Si ce n'est ton clan, nous t'aurions certainement lapidé. Et rien ne nous empêche de t'atteindre»

They said, "O Shu'ayb, we do not understand much of what you say, and indeed, we consider you among us as weak. And if not for your family, we would have stoned you [to death]; and you are not to us one respected

قَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ أَرَهْطِيَ أَعَزُّ عَلَيْكُم مِّنَ اَ۬للَّهِ وَاتَّخَذتُّمُوهُ وَرَآءَكُمْ ظِهْرِيّاًۖ اِنَّ رَبِّے بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ مُحِيطٞۖ ﱛ

Qâla yâqawmi arahtiya a‘azzu ‘alaykum mina llâhi wattakhadhttumûhu warâ'akum zihriyyani nna rabbî bimâ ta‘malûna muhît

Il dit: «O mon peuple, mon clan est-il à vos yeux plus puissant qu'Allah à qui vous tournez ouvertement le dos? Mon Seigneur embrasse (en Sa science) tout ce que vous œuvrez

He said, "O my people, is my family more respected for power by you than Allah? But you put Him behind your backs [in neglect]. Indeed, my Lord is encompassing of what you do

۞ وَيَٰقَوْمِ اِ۪عْمَلُواْ عَلَىٰ مَكَانَتِكُمُۥٓ إِنِّے عَٰمِلٞۖ سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَ مَنْ يَّاتِيهِ عَذَابٞ يُخْزِيهِ وَمَنْ هُوَ كَٰذِبٞۖ وَارْتَقِبُوٓاْۖ إِنِّے مَعَكُمْ رَقِيبٞۖ ﱜ

Wayâqawmi ‘malû ‘alâ makânatikumû innî ‘âmilun sawfa ta‘lamûna may yâtîhi ‘adhâbun yukhzîhi waman huwa kâdhibun wartaqibû innî ma‘akum raqîb

O mon peuple, agissez autant que vous voulez. Moi aussi j'agis. Bientôt, vous saurez sur qui tombera un châtiment qui le déshonorera, et qui de nous est l'imposteur. Et attendez (la conséquence de vos actes)! Moi aussi j'attends avec vous»

And O my people, work according to your position; indeed, I am working. You are going to know to whom will come a punishment that will disgrace him and who is a liar. So watch; indeed, I am with you a watcher, [awaiting the outcome]

وَلَمَّا جَآءَ امْرُنَا نَجَّيْنَا شُعَيْباٗ وَالذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ مَعَهُۥ بِرَحْمَةٖ مِّنَّاۖ وَأَخَذَتِ اِ۬لذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ اُ۬لصَّيْحَةُ فَأَصْبَحُواْ فِے دِيٰ۪رِهِمْ جَٰثِمِينَ ﱝ

Walammâ jâ'a âmrunâ najjaynâ shu‘ayban walladhîna âmanû ma‘ahû birahmatim minnâ wa'akhadhati lladhîna zalamû ssayhatu fa'asbahû fî diêrihim jâthimîn

Lorsque vint Notre ordre, Nous sauvâmes, par une miséricorde de Notre part, Chuayb et ceux qui avaient cru avec lui. Et le Cri terrible saisit les injustes, et ils gisèrent dans leurs demeures

And when Our command came, We saved Shu'ayb and those who believed with him, by mercy from Us. And the shriek seized those who had wronged, and they became within their homes [corpses] fallen prone

كَأَن لَّمْ يَغْنَوْاْ فِيهَآۖ أَلَا بُعْداٗ لِّمَدْيَنَ كَمَا بَعِدَتْ ثَمُودُۖ ﱞ

Ka'al lam yaghnaw fîhâ alâ bu‘dal limadyana kamâ ba‘idat thamûd

comme s'ils n'y avaient jamais prospéré. Que les Madyan s'éloignent comme les Thamûd se sont éloignés

As if they had never prospered therein. Then, away with Madyan as Thamud was taken away

وَلَقَدَ اَرْسَلْنَا مُوس۪ىٰ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا وَسُلْطَٰنٖ مُّبِينٍ ﱟ

Walaqada rsalnâ mûsê bi'âyâtinâ wasultânim mubîn

Et Nous avions envoyé Moïse, avec Nos miracles et une autorité incontestable

And We did certainly send Moses with Our signs and a clear authority

اِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَإِيْهِۦ فَاتَّبَعُوٓاْ أَمْرَ فِرْعَوْنَۖ وَمَآ أَمْرُ فِرْعَوْنَ بِرَشِيدٖۖ ﱠ

Ilâ fir‘awna wamala'iyhî fattaba‘û amra fir‘awna wamâ amru fir‘awna birashîd

à Pharaon et ses notables. Mais ils suivirent l'ordre de Pharaon, bien que l'ordre de Pharaon n'avait rien de sensé

To Pharaoh and his establishment, but they followed the command of Pharaoh, and the command of Pharaoh was not [at all] discerning

يَقْدُمُ قَوْمَهُۥ يَوْمَ اَ۬لْقِيَٰمَةِ فَأَوْرَدَهُمُ اُ۬لنَّارَۖ وَبِيسَ اَ۬لْوِرْدُ اُ۬لْمَوْرُودُۖ ﱡ

Yaqdumu qawmahû yawma lqiyâmati fa'awradahumu nnâra wabîsa lwirdu lmawrûd

Il précédera son peuple, au Jour de la Résurrection. Il les mènera à l'aiguade du Feu. Et quelle détestable aiguade

He will precede his people on the Day of Resurrection and lead them into the Fire; and wretched is the place to which they are led

وَأُتْبِعُواْ فِے هَٰذِهِۦ لَعْنَةٗ وَيَوْمَ اَ۬لْقِيَٰمَةِۖ بِيسَ اَ۬لرِّفْدُ اُ۬لْمَرْفُودُۖ ﱢ

Wa'utbi‘û fî hâdhihî la‘natan wayawma lqiyâmati bîsa rrifdu lmarfûd

Et ils sont poursuivis par une malédiction ici-bas et au Jour de la Résurrection. Quel détestable don leur sera donné

And they were followed in this [world] with a curse and on the Day of Resurrection. And wretched is the gift which is given

ذَٰلِكَ مِنَ اَنۢبَآءِ اِ۬لْقُر۪ىٰ نَقُصُّهُۥ عَلَيْكَ مِنْهَا قَآئِمٞ وَحَصِيدٞۖ ﱣ

Dhâlika mina mbâ'i lqurê naqussuhû ‘alayka minhâ qâ'imun wahasîd

Cela fait partie des récits que Nous te [Muhammad] racontons concernant des cités: les unes sont encore debout, tandis que d'autres (sont complètement) rasées

That is from the news of the cities, which We relate to you; of them, some are [still] standing and some are [as] a harvest [mowed down]

وَمَا ظَلَمْنَٰهُمْ وَلَٰكِن ظَلَمُوٓاْ أَنفُسَهُمْۖ فَمَآ أَغْنَتْ عَنْهُمُۥٓ ءَالِهَتُهُمُ اُ۬لتِے يَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ اِ۬للَّهِ مِن شَےْءٖ لَّمَّا جَآءَ امْرُ رَبِّكَۖ وَمَا زَادُوهُمْ غَيْرَ تَتْبِيبٖۖ ﱤ

Wamâ zalamnâhum walâkin zalamû anfusahum famâ aghnat ‘anhumû âlihatuhumu llatî yad‘ûna min dûni llâhi min shay'il lammâ jâ'a âmru rabbika wamâ zâdûhum ghayra tatbîb

Nous ne leur avons fait aucun tort. Mais ils se sont fait du tort à eux-mêmes. Leurs divinités, qu'ils invoquaient en dehors d'Allah, ne leur ont servi à rien, quand l'Ordre (le châtiment) de ton Seigneur fut venu; elles n'ont fait qu'accroître leur perte

And We did not wrong them, but they wronged themselves. And they were not availed at all by their gods which they invoked other than Allah when there came the command of your Lord. And they did not increase them in other than ruin

وَكَذَٰلِكَ أَخْذُ رَبِّكَ إِذَآ أَخَذَ اَ۬لْقُر۪ىٰ وَهِيَ ظَالِمَةٌۖ اِنَّ أَخْذَهُۥٓ أَلِيمٞ شَدِيدٌۖ ﱥ

Wakadhâlika akhdhu rabbika idhâ akhadha lqurê wahiya zâlimatuni nna akhdhahû alîmun shadîd

Telle est la rigueur de la prise de ton Seigneur quand Il frappe les cités lorsqu'elles sont injustes. Son châtiment est bien douloureux et bien dur

And thus is the seizure of your Lord when He seizes the cities while they are committing wrong. Indeed, His seizure is painful and severe

اِنَّ فِے ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَةٗ لِّمَنْ خَافَ عَذَابَ اَ۬لَاخِرَةِۖ ذَٰلِكَ يَوْمٞ مَّجْمُوعٞ لَّهُ اُ۬لنَّاسُۖ وَذَٰلِكَ يَوْمٞ مَّشْهُودٞۖ ﱦ

Inna fî dhâlika la'yatal liman khâfa ‘adhâba lakhirati dhâlika yawmum majmû‘ul lahu nnâsu wadhâlika yawmum mashhûd

Il y a bien là un signe pour celui qui craint le châtiment de l'au-delà. C'est un jour où les gens seront rassemblés; et c'est un jour solennel (attesté par tous)

Indeed in that is a sign for those who fear the punishment of the Hereafter. That is a Day for which the people will be collected, and that is a Day [which will be] witnessed

وَمَا نُوَ۬خِّرُهُۥٓ إِلَّا لِأَجَلٖ مَّعْدُودٖۖ ﱧ

Wamâ nuwakhkhiruhû illâ li'ajalim ma‘dûd

Et Nous ne le retardons que pour un terme bien déterminé

And We do not delay it except for a limited term

۞ يَوْمَ يَاتِۦ لَا تَكَلَّمُ نَفْسٌ اِلَّا بِإِذْنِهِۦۖ فَمِنْهُمْ شَقِيّٞ وَسَعِيدٞۖ ﱨ

Yawma yâtî lâ takallamu nafsuni llâ bi'idhnihî faminhum shaqiyyun wasa‘îd

Le jour où cela arrivera, nulle âme ne parlera qu'avec Sa permission (celle d'Allah). Il y aura des damnés et des heureux

The Day it comes no soul will speak except by His permission. And among them will be the wretched and the prosperous

فَأَمَّا اَ۬لذِينَ شَقُواْ فَفِے اِ۬لنّ۪ارِ لَهُمْ فِيهَا زَفِيرٞ وَشَهِيقٌ ﱩ

Fa'ammâ lladhîna shaqû fafî nnêri lahum fîhâ zafîrun washahîq

Ceux qui sont damnés seront dans le Feu où ils ont des soupirs et des sanglots

As for those who were [destined to be] wretched, they will be in the Fire. For them therein is [violent] exhaling and inhaling

خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا مَا دَامَتِ اِ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتُ وَالَارْضُ إِلَّا مَا شَآءَ رَبُّكَۖ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ فَعَّالٞ لِّمَا يُرِيدُۖ ﱪ

Khâlidîna fîhâ mâ dâmati ssamâwâtu walardu illâ mâ shâ'a rabbuka inna rabbaka fa‘‘âlul limâ yurîd

Pour y demeurer éternellement tant que dureront les cieux et la terre - à moins que ton Seigneur en décide autrement - car ton Seigneur fait absolument tout ce qu'Il veut

[They will be] abiding therein as long as the heavens and the earth endure, except what your Lord should will. Indeed, your Lord is an effecter of what He intends

وَأَمَّا اَ۬لذِينَ سَعِدُواْ فَفِے اِ۬لْجَنَّةِ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا مَا دَامَتِ اِ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتُ وَالَارْضُ إِلَّا مَا شَآءَ رَبُّكَۖ عَطَآءً غَيْرَ مَجْذُوذٖۖ ﱫ

Wa'ammâ lladhîna sa‘idû fafî ljannati khâlidîna fîhâ mâ dâmati ssamâwâtu walardu illâ mâ shâ'a rabbuka ‘atâ'an ghayra majdhûdh

Et quant aux bienheureux, ils seront au Paradis, pour y demeurer éternellement tant que dureront les cieux et la terre - à moins que ton Seigneur n'en décide autrement - c'est là un don qui n'est jamais interrompu

And as for those who were [destined to be] prosperous, they will be in Paradise, abiding therein as long as the heavens and the earth endure, except what your Lord should will - a bestowal uninterrupted

فَلَا تَكُ فِے مِرْيَةٖ مِّمَّا يَعْبُدُ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِۖ مَا يَعْبُدُونَ إِلَّا كَمَا يَعْبُدُ ءَابَآؤُهُم مِّن قَبْلُۖ وَإِنَّا لَمُوَفُّوهُمْ نَصِيبَهُمْ غَيْرَ مَنقُوصٖۖ ﱬ

Falâ taku fî miryatim mimmâ ya‘budu hâ'ulâ'i mâ ya‘budûna illâ kamâ ya‘budu âbâ'uhum min qablu wa'innâ lamuwaffûhum nasîbahum ghayra manqûs

Ne sois donc pas en doute au sujet de ce que ceux-là adorent. Ils n'adorent que comme leurs ancêtres adoraient auparavant. Et Nous leur donnerons la totalité de leur part, sans en rien retrancher

So do not be in doubt, [O Muhammad], as to what these [polytheists] are worshipping. They worship not except as their fathers worshipped before. And indeed, We will give them their share undiminished

وَلَقَدَ اٰتَيْنَا مُوسَى اَ۬لْكِتَٰبَ فَاخْتُلِفَ فِيهِۖ وَلَوْلَا كَلِمَةٞ سَبَقَتْ مِن رَّبِّكَ لَقُضِيَ بَيْنَهُمْۖ وَإِنَّهُمْ لَفِے شَكّٖ مِّنْهُ مُرِيبٖۖ ﱭ

Walaqada âtaynâ mûsâ lkitâba fakhtulifa fîhi walawlâ kalimatun sabaqat mir rabbika laqudiya baynahum wa'innahum lafî shakkim minhu murîb

Et Nous avons déjà donné à Moïse le Livre. Il y eut des divergences à son sujet. S'il n'y avait pas un décret préalable de la part de ton Seigneur, tout aurait été décidé entre eux. Et ils sont, à son sujet pleins d'un doute troublant

And We had certainly given Moses the Scripture, but it came under disagreement. And if not for a word that preceded from your Lord, it would have been judged between them. And indeed they are, concerning the Qur'an, in disquieting doubt

وَإِن كُلّاٗ لَّمَا لَيُوَفِّيَنَّهُمْ رَبُّكَ أَعْمَٰلَهُمُۥٓۖ إِنَّهُۥ بِمَا يَعْمَلُونَ خَبِيرٞۖ ﱮ

Wa'in kullal lamâ layuwaffiyannahum rabbuka a‘mâlahumû innahû bimâ ya‘malûna khabîr

Très certainement, ton Seigneur fera leur pleine rétribution à tous pour leurs œuvres... Il est Parfaitement Connaisseur de ce qu'ils font

And indeed, each [of the believers and disbelievers] - your Lord will fully compensate them for their deeds. Indeed, He is Acquainted with what they do

فَاسْتَقِمْ كَمَآ أُمِرْتَ وَمَن تَابَ مَعَكَ وَلَا تَطْغَوِاْۖ اِنَّهُۥ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرٞۖ ﱯ

Fastaqim kamâ umirta waman tâba ma‘aka walâ tatghawi nnahû bimâ ta‘malûna basîr

Demeure sur le droit chemin comme il t'est commandé, ainsi que ceux qui sont revenus [à Allah] avec toi. Et ne commettez pas d'excès. Car vraiment Il observe ce que vous faites

So remain on a right course as you have been commanded, [you] and those who have turned back with you [to Allah], and do not transgress. Indeed, He is Seeing of what you do

وَلَا تَرْكَنُوٓاْ إِلَى اَ۬لذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ فَتَمَسَّكُمُ اُ۬لنَّارُۖ وَمَا لَكُم مِّن دُونِ اِ۬للَّهِ مِنَ اَوْلِيَآءَۖ ثُمَّ لَا تُنصَرُونَۖ ﱰ

Walâ tarkanû ilâ lladhîna zalamû fatamassakumu nnâru wamâ lakum min dûni llâhi mina wliyâ'a thumma lâ tunsarûn

Et ne vous penchez pas vers les injustes: sinon le Feu vous atteindrait. Vous n'avez pas d'alliés en dehors d'Allah. Et vous ne serez pas secourus

And do not incline toward those who do wrong, lest you be touched by the Fire, and you would not have other than Allah any protectors; then you would not be helped

وَأَقِمِ اِ۬لصَّلَوٰةَ طَرَفَيِ اِ۬لنَّه۪ارِ وَزُلَفاٗ مِّنَ اَ۬ليْلِۖ إِنَّ اَ۬لْحَسَنَٰتِ يُذْهِبْنَ اَ۬لسَّيِّـَٔاتِۖ ذَٰلِكَ ذِكْر۪ىٰ لِلذَّٰكِرِينَۖ ﱱ

Wa'aqimi ssalawâta tarafayi nnahêri wazulafam mina llayli inna lhasanâti yudhhibna ssayyi'âti dhâlika dhikrê lidhdhâkirîn

Et accomplis la Salât aux deux extrémités du jour et à certaines heures de la nuit. Les bonnes œuvres dissipent les mauvaises. Cela est une exhortation pour ceux qui réfléchissent

And establish prayer at the two ends of the day and at the approach of the night. Indeed, good deeds do away with misdeeds. That is a reminder for those who remember

وَاصْبِرْۖ فَإِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ لَا يُضِيعُ أَجْرَ اَ۬لْمُحْسِنِينَۖ ﱲ

Wasbir fa'inna llâha lâ yudî‘u ajra lmuhsinîn

Et sois patient. Car Allah ne laisse pas perdre la récompense des gens bienfaisants

And be patient, for indeed, Allah does not allow to be lost the reward of those who do good

فَلَوْلَا كَانَ مِنَ اَ۬لْقُرُونِ مِن قَبْلِكُمُۥٓ أُوْلُواْ بَقِيَّةٖ يَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ اِ۬لْفَسَادِ فِے اِ۬لَارْضِ إِلَّا قَلِيلاٗ مِّمَّنَ اَنجَيْنَا مِنْهُمْۖ وَاتَّبَعَ اَ۬لذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ مَآ أُتْرِفُواْ فِيهِ وَكَانُواْ مُجْرِمِينَۖ ﱳ

Falawlâ kâna mina lqurûni min qablikumû ulû baqiyyatin yanhawna ‘ani lfasâdi fî lardi illâ qalîlam mimmana njaynâ minhum wattaba‘a lladhîna zalamû mâ utrifû fîhi wakânû mujrimîn

Si seulement il existait, dans les générations d'avant vous, des gens vertueux qui interdisent la corruption sur terre! (Hélas) Il n'y en avait qu'un petit nombre que Nous sauvâmes, alors que les injustes persistaient dans le luxe (exagéré) dans lequel ils vivaient, et ils étaient des criminels

So why were there not among the generations before you those of enduring discrimination forbidding corruption on earth - except a few of those We saved from among them? But those who wronged pursued what luxury they were given therein, and they were criminals

۞ وَمَا كَانَ رَبُّكَ لِيُهْلِكَ اَ۬لْقُر۪ىٰ بِظُلْمٖ وَأَهْلُهَا مُصْلِحُونَۖ ﱴ

Wamâ kâna rabbuka liyuhlika lqurê bizulmin wa'ahluhâ muslihûn

Et ton Seigneur n'est point tel à détruire injustement des cités dont les habitants sont des réformateurs

And your Lord would not have destroyed the cities unjustly while their people were reformers

وَلَوْ شَآءَ رَبُّكَ لَجَعَلَ اَ۬لنَّاسَ أُمَّةٗ وَٰحِدَةٗۖ وَلَا يَزَالُونَ مُخْتَلِفِينَ إِلَّا مَن رَّحِمَ رَبُّكَۖ وَلِذَٰلِكَ خَلَقَهُمْۖ وَتَمَّتْ كَلِمَةُ رَبِّكَ لَأَمْلَأَنَّ جَهَنَّمَ مِنَ اَ۬لْجِنَّةِ وَالنَّاسِ أَجْمَعِينَۖ ﱵ

Walaw shâ'a rabbuka laja‘ala nnâsa ummatan wâhidatan walâ yazâlûna mukhtalifîna illâ mar rahima rabbuka walidhâlika khalaqahum watammat kalimatu rabbika la'amla'anna jahannama mina ljinnati wannâsi ajma‘în

Et si ton Seigneur avait voulu, Il aurait fait des gens une seule communauté. Or, ils ne cessent d'être en désaccord (entre eux) sauf ceux à qui ton Seigneur a accordé miséricorde. C'est pour cela qu'Il les a créés. Et la parole de ton Seigneur s'accomplit: «Très certainement, Je remplirai l'Enfer de djinns et d'hommes, tous ensemble»

And if your Lord had willed, He could have made mankind one community; but they will not cease to differ Except whom your Lord has given mercy, and for that He created them. But the word of your Lord is to be fulfilled that, "I will surely fill Hell with jinn and men all together

وَكُلّاٗ نَّقُصُّ عَلَيْكَ مِنَ اَنۢبَآءِ اِ۬لرُّسُلِ مَا نُثَبِّتُ بِهِۦ فُؤَادَكَۖ وَجَآءَكَ فِے هَٰذِهِ اِ۬لْحَقُّ وَمَوْعِظَةٞ وَذِكْر۪ىٰ لِلْمُومِنِينَۖ ﱶ

Wakullan naqussu ‘alayka mina mbâ'i rrusuli mâ nuthabbitu bihî fu'âdaka wajâ'aka fî hâdhihi lhaqqu wamaw‘izatun wadhikrê lilmûminîn

Et tout ce que Nous te racontons des récits des messagers, c'est pour en raffermir ton cœur. Et de ceux-ci t'est venue la vérité ainsi qu'une exhortation et un rappel aux croyants

And each [story] We relate to you from the news of the messengers is that by which We make firm your heart. And there has come to you, in this, the truth and an instruction and a reminder for the believers

وَقُل لِّلذِينَ لَا يُومِنُونَ اَ۪عْمَلُواْ عَلَىٰ مَكَانَتِكُمُۥٓ إِنَّا عَٰمِلُونَ وَانتَظِرُوٓاْ إِنَّا مُنتَظِرُونَۖ ﱷ

Waqul lilladhîna lâ yûminûna ‘malû ‘alâ makânatikumû innâ ‘âmilûna wântazirû innâ muntazirûn

Et dis à ceux qui ne croient pas: «Oeuvrez autant que vous pouvez. Nous aussi, nous œuvrons Et attendez. Nous aussi nous attendons!»

And say to those who do not believe, "Work according to your position; indeed, we are working And wait, indeed, we are waiting

وَلِلهِ غَيْبُ اُ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالَارْضِۖ وَإِلَيْهِ يُرْجَعُ اُ۬لَامْرُ كُلُّهُۥۖ فَاعْبُدْهُ وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَيْهِۖ وَمَا رَبُّكَ بِغَٰفِلٍ عَمَّا تَعْمَلُونَۖ ﱸ

Walillâhi ghaybu ssamâwâti walardi wa'ilayhi yurja‘u lamru kulluhû fa‘budhu watawakkal ‘alayhi wamâ rabbuka bighâfilin ‘ammâ ta‘malûn

A Allah appartient l'Inconnaissable des cieux et de la terre, et c'est à Lui que revient l'ordre tout entier. Adore-Le donc et place ta confiance en Lui. Ton Seigneur n'est pas inattentif à ce que vous faites

And to Allah belong the unseen [aspects] of the heavens and the earth and to Him will be returned the matter, all of it, so worship Him and rely upon Him. And your Lord is not unaware of that which you do
