طَه۪ۖ مَآ أَنزَلْنَا عَلَيْكَ اَ۬لْقُرْءَانَ لِتَشْق۪ىٰٓ ﰀ

Tâ hâ mâ anzalnâ ‘alayka lqur'âna litashqê

Tâ-Hâ Nous n'avons point fait descendre sur toi le Coran pour que tu sois malheureux

Ta, Ha We have not sent down to you the Qur'an that you be distressed

إِلَّا تَذْكِرَةٗ لِّمَنْ يَّخْش۪ىٰۖ ﰁ

Illâ tadhkiratal limay yakhshê

si ce n'est qu'un Rappel pour celui qui redoute (Allah)

But only as a reminder for those who fear [Allah]

تَنزِيلاٗ مِّمَّنْ خَلَقَ اَ۬لَارْضَ وَالسَّمَٰوَٰتِ اِ۬لْعُلَىۖ ﰂ

Tanzîlam mimman khalaqa larda wassamâwâti l‘ulâ

(et comme) une révélation émanant de Celui qui a créé la terre et les cieux sublimes

A revelation from He who created the earth and highest heavens

اَ۬لرَّحْمَٰنُ عَلَى اَ۬لْعَرْشِ اِ۪سْتَو۪ىٰۖ ﰃ

Arrahmânu ‘alâ l‘arshi stawê

Le Tout Miséricordieux S'est établi «Istawâ» sur le Trône

The Most Merciful [who is] above the Throne established

لَهُۥ مَا فِے اِ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِے اِ۬لَارْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا وَمَا تَحْتَ اَ۬لثَّر۪ىٰۖ ﰄ

Lahû mâ fî ssamâwâti wamâ fî lardi wamâ baynahumâ wamâ tahta ththarê

A Lui appartient ce qui est dans les cieux, sur la terre, ce qui est entre eux et ce qui est sous le sol humide

To Him belongs what is in the heavens and what is on the earth and what is between them and what is under the soil

وَإِن تَجْهَرْ بِالْقَوْلِ فَإِنَّهُۥ يَعْلَمُ اُ۬لسِّرَّ وَأَخْفَىۖ ﰅ

Wa'in tajhar bilqawli fa'innahû ya‘lamu ssirra wa'akhfâ

Et si tu élèves la voix, Il connaît certes les secrets, même les plus cachés

And if you speak aloud - then indeed, He knows the secret and what is [even] more hidden

اَ۬للَّهُ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَۖ لَهُ اُ۬لَاسْمَآءُ اُ۬لْحُسْن۪ىٰۖ ﰆ

Allâhu lâ ilâha illâ huwa lahu lasmâ'u lhusnê

Allah! Point de divinité que Lui! Il possède les noms les plus beaux

Allah - there is no deity except Him. To Him belong the best names

وَهَلَ اَت۪يٰكَ حَدِيثُ مُوس۪ىٰٓ ﰇ

Wahala têka hadîthu mûsê

Le récit de Moïse t'est-il parvenu

And has the story of Moses reached you

إِذْ ر۪ء۪ا نَاراٗ فَقَالَ لِأَهْلِهِ اِ۟مْكُثُوٓاْ إِنِّيَ ءَانَسْتُ نَاراٗ لَّعَلِّيَ ءَاتِيكُم مِّنْهَا بِقَبَسٍ اَوَ اَجِدُ عَلَى اَ۬لنّ۪ارِ هُدىٗۖ ﰈ

Idh re'ê nâran faqâla li'ahlihi mkuthû inniya ânastu nâral la‘alliya âtîkum minhâ biqabasina wa jidu ‘alâ nnêri hudâ

Lorsqu'il vit du feu, il dit à sa famille: «Restez ici! Je vois du feu de loin; peut-être vous en apporterai-je un tison, ou trouverai-je auprès du feu de quoi me guider»

When he saw a fire and said to his family, "Stay here; indeed, I have perceived a fire; perhaps I can bring you a torch or find at the fire some guidance

فَلَمَّآ أَت۪يٰهَا نُودِيَ يَٰمُوس۪ىٰٓ ﰉ

Falammâ atêhâ nûdiya yâmûsê

Puis, lorsqu'il y arriva, il fut interpellé: «Moïse

And when he came to it, he was called, "O Moses

إِنِّيَ أَنَا رَبُّكَ فَاخْلَعْ نَعْلَيْكَ إِنَّكَ بِالْوَادِ اِ۬لْمُقَدَّسِ طُو۪ىٰۖ ﰊ

Inniya anâ rabbuka fakhla‘ na‘layka innaka bilwâdi lmuqaddasi tuwê

Je suis ton Seigneur. Enlève tes sandales: car tu es dans la vallée sacrée, Tuwâ

Indeed, I am your Lord, so remove your sandals. Indeed, you are in the sacred valley of Tuwa

وَأَنَا اَ۪خْتَرْتُكَ فَاسْتَمِعْ لِمَا يُوح۪ىٰٓ ﰋ

Wa'anâ khtartuka fastami‘ limâ yûhê

Moi, Je t'ai choisi. Ecoute donc ce qui va être révélé

And I have chosen you, so listen to what is revealed [to you]

إِنَّنِيَ أَنَا اَ۬للَّهُ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّآ أَنَا فَاعْبُدْنِے وَأَقِمِ اِ۬لصَّلَوٰةَ لِذِكْرِيَۖ ﰌ

Innaniya anâ llâhu lâ ilâha illâ anâ fa‘budnî wa'aqimi ssalawâta lidhikriy

Certes, c'est Moi Allah: point de divinité que Moi. Adore-Moi donc et accomplis la Salât pour te souvenir de Moi

Indeed, I am Allah. There is no deity except Me, so worship Me and establish prayer for My remembrance

إِنَّ اَ۬لسَّاعَةَ ءَاتِيَةٌ اَكَادُ أُخْفِيهَا لِتُجْز۪ىٰ كُلُّ نَفْسِۢ بِمَا تَسْع۪ىٰۖ ﰍ

Inna ssâ‘ata âtiyatuna kâdu ukhfîhâ litujzê kullu nafsim bimâ tas‘ê

L'Heure va certes arriver. Je la cache à peine, pour que chaque âme soit rétribuée selon ses efforts

Indeed, the Hour is coming - I almost conceal it - so that every soul may be recompensed according to that for which it strives

فَلَا يَصُدَّنَّكَ عَنْهَا مَن لَّا يُومِنُ بِهَا وَاتَّبَعَ هَو۪يٰهُ فَتَرْد۪ىٰۖ ﰎ

Falâ yasuddannaka ‘anhâ mal lâ yûminu bihâ wattaba‘a hawêhu fatardê

Que celui qui n'y croit pas et qui suit sa propre passion ne t'en détourne pas. Sinon tu périras

So do not let one avert you from it who does not believe in it and follows his desire, for you [then] would perish

وَمَا تِلْكَ بِيَمِينِكَ يَٰمُوس۪ىٰۖ ﰏ

Wamâ tilka biyamînika yâmûsê

Et qu'est-ce qu'il y a dans ta main droite, ô Moïse?»

And what is that in your right hand, O Moses

قَالَ هِيَ عَصَايَ أَتَوَكَّؤُاْ عَلَيْهَا وَأَهُشُّ بِهَا عَلَىٰ غَنَمِے وَلِيَ فِيهَا مَـَٔارِبُ أُخْر۪ىٰۖ ﰐ

Qâla hiya ‘asâya atawakka'u ‘alayhâ wa'ahushshu bihâ ‘alâ ghanamî waliya fîhâ ma'âribu ukhrê

Il dit: «C'est mon bâton sur lequel je m'appuie, qui me sert à effeuiller (les arbres) pour mes moutons et j'en fais d'autres usages»

He said, "It is my staff; I lean upon it, and I bring down leaves for my sheep and I have therein other uses

قَالَ أَلْقِهَا يَٰمُوس۪ىٰۖ ﰑ

Qâla alqihâ yâmûsê

[Allah lui] dit: «Jette-le, O Moïse»

[Allah] said, "Throw it down, O Moses

فَأَلْق۪يٰهَا فَإِذَا هِيَ حَيَّةٞ تَسْع۪ىٰۖ ﰒ

Fa'alqêhâ fa'idhâ hiya hayyatun tas‘ê

Il le jeta: et le voici un serpent qui rampait

So he threw it down, and thereupon it was a snake, moving swiftly

قَالَ خُذْهَا وَلَا تَخَفْ سَنُعِيدُهَا سِيرَتَهَا اَ۬لُاول۪ىٰۖ ﰓ

Qâla khudhhâ walâ takhaf sanu‘îduhâ sîratahâ lûlê

[Allah] dit: «Saisis-le et ne crains rien: Nous le ramènerons à son premier état

[Allah] said, "Seize it and fear not; We will return it to its former condition

وَاضْمُمْ يَدَكَ إِلَىٰ جَنَاحِكَ تَخْرُجْ بَيْضَآءَ مِنْ غَيْرِ سُوٓءٍ اٰيَةً ا۟خْر۪ىٰ ﰔ

Wadmum yadaka ilâ janâhika takhruj baydâ'a min ghayri sû'in âyatan ukhrê

Et serre ta main sous ton aisselle: elle en sortira blanche sans aucun mal, et ce sera là un autre prodige

And draw in your hand to your side; it will come out white without disease - another sign

لِنُرِيَكَ مِنَ اٰيَٰتِنَا اَ۬لْكُبْرَىۖ ﰕ

Linuriyaka mina âyâtinâ lkubrâ

afin que Nous te fassions voir de Nos prodiges les plus importants

That We may show you [some] of Our greater signs

اَ۪ذْهَبِ اِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّهُۥ طَغ۪ىٰۖ ﰖ

Adhhabi lâ fir‘awna innahû taghê

Rends-toi auprès de Pharaon car il a outrepassé toute limite

Go to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed

قَالَ رَبِّ اِ۪شْرَحْ لِے صَدْرِے ﰗ

Qâla rabbi shrah lî sadrî

[Moïse] dit: «Seigneur, ouvre-moi ma poitrine

[Moses] said, "My Lord, expand for me my breast [with assurance]

وَيَسِّرْ لِيَ أَمْرِے ﰘ

Wayassir liya amrî

et facilite ma mission

And ease for me my task

وَاحْلُلْ عُقْدَةٗ مِّن لِّسَانِے ﰙ

Wahlul ‘uqdatam mil lisânî

et dénoue un nœud en ma langue

And untie the knot from my tongue

يَفْقَهُواْ قَوْلِے ﰚ

Yafqahû qawlî

afin qu'ils comprennent mes paroles

That they may understand my speech

وَاجْعَل لِّے وَزِيراٗ مِّنَ اَهْلِے ﰛ

Waj‘al lî wazîram mina hlî

et assigne-moi un assistant de ma famille

And appoint for me a minister from my family

هَٰرُونَ أَخِےۖ ﰜ

Hârûna akhî

Aaron, mon frère

Aaron, my brother

اِ۟شْدُدْ بِهِۦٓ أَزْرِے ﰝ

Ushdud bihî azrî

accrois par lui ma force

Increase through him my strength

وَأَشْرِكْهُ فِےٓ أَمْرِے ﰞ

Wa'ashrikhu fî amrî

et associe-le à ma mission

And let him share my task

كَےْ نُسَبِّحَكَ كَثِيراٗ ﰟ

Kay nusabbihaka kathîrâ

afin que nous Te glorifions beaucoup

That we may exalt You much

وَنَذْكُرَكَ كَثِيراً ﰠ

Wanadhkuraka kathîrâ

et que nous T'invoquions beaucoup

And remember You much

اِنَّكَ كُنتَ بِنَا بَصِيراٗۖ ﰡ

Innaka kunta binâ basîrâ

Et Toi, certes, Tu es Très Clairvoyant sur nous»

Indeed, You are of us ever Seeing

۞ قَالَ قَدُ ا۟وتِيتَ سُؤْلَكَ يَٰمُوس۪ىٰۖ ﰢ

Qâla qadu ûtîta su'laka yâmûsê

[Allah] dit: «Ta demande est exaucée, ô Moïse

[Allah] said, "You have been granted your request, O Moses

وَلَقَدْ مَنَنَّا عَلَيْكَ مَرَّةً ا۟خْر۪ىٰٓ ﰣ

Walaqad manannâ ‘alayka marratan ukhrê

Et Nous t'avons déjà favorisé une première fois

And We had already conferred favor upon you another time

إِذَ اَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَىٰٓ أُمِّكَ مَا يُوح۪ىٰٓ ﰤ

Idha whaynâ ilâ ummika mâ yûhê

lorsque Nous révélâmes à ta mère ce qui fut révélé

When We inspired to your mother what We inspired

أَنِ اِ۪قْذِفِيهِ فِے اِ۬لتَّابُوتِ فَاقْذِفِيهِ فِے اِ۬لْيَمِّۖ فَلْيُلْقِهِ اِ۬لْيَمُّ بِالسَّاحِلِ يَاخُذْهُ عَدُوّٞ لِّے وَعَدُوّٞ لَّهُۥۖ وَأَلْقَيْتُ عَلَيْكَ مَحَبَّةٗ مِّنِّے ﰥ

Ani qdhifîhi fî ttâbûti faqdhifîhi fî lyammi falyulqihi lyammu bissâhili yâkhudhhu ‘aduwwul lî wa‘aduwwul lahû wa'alqaytu ‘alayka mahabbatam minnî

«Mets-le dans le coffret, puis jette celui-ci dans les flots pour qu'ensuite le fleuve le lance sur la rive; un ennemi à Moi et à lui le prendra». Et J'ai répandu sur toi une affection de Ma part, afin que tu sois élevé sous Mon œil

[Saying], 'Cast him into the chest and cast it into the river, and the river will throw it onto the bank; there will take him an enemy to Me and an enemy to him.' And I bestowed upon you love from Me that you would be brought up under My eye

وَلِتُصْنَعَ عَلَىٰ عَيْنِيَ ﰦ

Walitusna‘a ‘alâ ‘ayniy

إِذْ تَمْشِےٓ أُخْتُكَ فَتَقُولُ هَلَ اَدُلُّكُمْ عَلَىٰ مَنْ يَّكْفُلُهُۥۖ فَرَجَعْنَٰكَ إِلَىٰٓ أُمِّكَ كَےْ تَقَرَّ عَيْنُهَا وَلَا تَحْزَنَۖ وَقَتَلْتَ نَفْساٗ فَنَجَّيْنَٰكَ مِنَ اَ۬لْغَمِّ وَفَتَنَّٰكَ فُتُوناٗۖ فَلَبِثْتَ سِنِينَ فِےٓ أَهْلِ مَدْيَنَ ثُمَّ جِئْتَ عَلَىٰ قَدَرٖ يَٰمُوس۪ىٰۖ ﰧ

Idh tamshî ukhtuka fataqûlu hala dullukum ‘alâ may yakfuluhû faraja‘nâka ilâ ummika kay taqarra ‘aynuhâ walâ tahzana waqatalta nafsan fanajjaynâka mina lghammi wafatannâka futûnan falabithta sinîna fî ahli madyana thumma jî'ta ‘alâ qadarin yâmûsê

Et vœilà que ta sœur (te suivait en) marchant et disait: «Puis-je vous indiquer quelqu'un qui se chargera de lui?» Ainsi, Nous te rapportâmes à ta mère afin que son oil se réjouisse et qu'elle ne s'afflige plus. Tu tuas ensuite un individu; Nous te sauvâmes des craintes qui t'oppressaient; et Nous t'imposâmes plusieurs épreuves. Puis tu demeuras des années durant chez les habitants de Madyan. Ensuite tu es venu, ô Moïse, conformément à un décret

[And We favored you] when your sister went and said, 'Shall I direct you to someone who will be responsible for him?' So We restored you to your mother that she might be content and not grieve. And you killed someone, but We saved you from retaliation and tried you with a [severe] trial. And you remained [some] years among the people of Madyan. Then you came [here] at the decreed time, O Moses

وَاصْطَنَعْتُكَ لِنَفْسِيَۖ اَ۪ذْهَبَ اَنتَ وَأَخُوكَ بِـَٔايَٰتِے وَلَا تَنِيَا فِے ذِكْرِيَۖ ﰨ

Wastana‘tuka linafsiya dhhaba nta wa'akhûka bi'âyâtî walâ taniyâ fî dhikriy

Et je t'ai assigné à Moi-Même Pars, toi et ton frère, avec Mes prodiges; et ne négligez pas de M'invoquer

And I produced you for Myself Go, you and your brother, with My signs and do not slacken in My remembrance

اَ۪ذْهَبَآ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّهُۥ طَغ۪ىٰ ﰩ

Adhhabâ ilâ fir‘awna innahû taghê

Allez vers Pharaon: il s'est vraiment rebellé

Go, both of you, to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed

فَقُولَا لَهُۥ قَوْلاٗ لَّيِّناٗ لَّعَلَّهُۥ يَتَذَكَّرُ أَوْ يَخْش۪ىٰۖ ﰪ

Faqûlâ lahû qawlal layyinal la‘allahû yatadhakkaru aw yakhshê

Puis, parlez-lui gentiment. Peut-être se rappellera-t-il ou [Me] craindra-t-il

And speak to him with gentle speech that perhaps he may be reminded or fear [Allah]

قَالَا رَبَّنَآ إِنَّنَا نَخَافُ أَنْ يَّفْرُطَ عَلَيْنَآ أَوَ اَنْ يَّطْغ۪ىٰۖ ﰫ

Qâlâ rabbanâ innanâ nakhâfu ay yafruta ‘alaynâ awa y yatghê

Ils dirent: «O notre Seigneur, nous craignons qu'il ne nous maltraite indûment, ou qu'il dépasse les limites»

They said, "Our Lord, indeed we are afraid that he will hasten [punishment] against us or that he will transgress

قَالَ لَا تَخَافَآ إِنَّنِے مَعَكُمَآ أَسْمَعُ وَأَر۪ىٰۖ ﰬ

Qâla lâ takhâfâ innanî ma‘akumâ asma‘u wa'arê

Il dit: «Ne craignez rien. Je suis avec vous: J'entends et Je vois

[Allah] said, "Fear not. Indeed, I am with you both; I hear and I see

فَاتِيَٰهُ فَقُولَآ إِنَّا رَسُولَا رَبِّكَ فَأَرْسِلْ مَعَنَا بَنِےٓ إِسْرَآءِيلَ وَلَا تُعَذِّبْهُمْ قَدْ جِئْنَٰكَ بِـَٔايَةٖ مِّن رَّبِّكَۖ وَالسَّلَٰمُ عَلَىٰ مَنِ اِ۪تَّبَعَ اَ۬لْهُد۪ىٰٓۖ ﰭ

Fâtiyâhu faqûlâ innâ rasûlâ rabbika fa'arsil ma‘anâ banî isrâ'îla walâ tu‘adhdhibhum qad jî'nâka bi'âyatim mir rabbika wassalâmu ‘alâ mani ttaba‘a lhudê

Allez donc chez lui; puis, dites-lui: «Nous sommes tous deux, les messagers de ton Seigneur. Envoie donc les Enfants d'Israël en notre compagnie et ne les châtie plus. Nous sommes venus à toi avec une preuve de la part de ton Seigneur. Et que la paix soit sur quiconque suit le droit chemin

So go to him and say, 'Indeed, we are messengers of your Lord, so send with us the Children of Israel and do not torment them. We have come to you with a sign from your Lord. And peace will be upon he who follows the guidance

إِنَّا قَدُ ا۟وحِيَ إِلَيْنَآ أَنَّ اَ۬لْعَذَابَ عَلَىٰ مَن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلّ۪ىٰۖ ﰮ

Innâ qadu ûhiya ilaynâ anna l‘adhâba ‘alâ man kadhdhaba watawallê

Il nous a été révélé que le châtiment est pour celui qui refuse d'avoir foi et qui tourne le dos»

Indeed, it has been revealed to us that the punishment will be upon whoever denies and turns away

قَالَ فَمَن رَّبُّكُمَا يَٰمُوس۪ىٰۖ ﰯ

Qâla famar rabbukumâ yâmûsê

Alors [Pharaon] dit: «Qui donc est votre Seigneur, ô Moïse?»

[Pharaoh] said, "So who is the Lord of you two, O Moses

قَالَ رَبُّنَا اَ۬لذِےٓ أَعْط۪ىٰ كُلَّ شَےْءٍ خَلْقَهُۥ ثُمَّ هَد۪ىٰۖ ﰰ

Qâla rabbunâ lladhî a‘tê kulla shay'in khalqahû thumma hadê

«Notre Seigneur, dit Moïse, est Celui qui a donné à chaque chose sa propre nature puis l'a dirigée»

He said, "Our Lord is He who gave each thing its form and then guided [it]

قَالَ فَمَا بَالُ اُ۬لْقُرُونِ اِ۬لُاول۪ىٰۖ ﰱ

Qâla famâ bâlu lqurûni lûlê

«Qu'en est-il donc des générations anciennes?» dit Pharaon

[Pharaoh] said, "Then what is the case of the former generations

قَالَ عِلْمُهَا عِندَ رَبِّے فِے كِتَٰبٖۖ لَّا يَضِلُّ رَبِّے وَلَا يَنسَىۖ ﰲ

Qâla ‘ilmuhâ ‘inda rabbî fî kitâbil lâ yadillu rabbî walâ yansâ

Moïse dit: «La connaissance de leur sort est auprès de mon Seigneur, dans un livre. Mon Seigneur [ne commet] ni erreur ni oubli

[Moses] said, "The knowledge thereof is with my Lord in a record. My Lord neither errs nor forgets

اَ۬لذِے جَعَلَ لَكُمُ اُ۬لَارْضَ مِهَٰداٗ وَسَلَكَ لَكُمْ فِيهَا سُبُلاٗ وَأَنزَلَ مِنَ اَ۬لسَّمَآءِ مَآءٗۖ فَأَخْرَجْنَا بِهِۦٓ أَزْوَٰجاٗ مِّن نَّبَاتٖ شَتّ۪ىٰۖ ﰳ

Alladhî ja‘ala lakumu larda mihâdan wasalaka lakum fîhâ subulan wa'anzala mina ssamâ'i mâ'an fa'akhrajnâ bihî azwâjam min nabâtin shattê

C'est Lui qui vous a assigné la terre comme berceau et vous y a tracé des chemins; et qui du ciel a fait descendre de l'eau avec laquelle Nous faisons germer des couples de plantes de toutes sortes.»

[It is He] who has made for you the earth as a bed [spread out] and inserted therein for you roadways and sent down from the sky, rain and produced thereby categories of various plants

كُلُواْ وَارْعَوَاْ اَنْعَٰمَكُمُۥٓۖ إِنَّ فِے ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَٰتٖ لِّأُوْلِے اِ۬لنُّه۪ىٰۖ ﰴ

Kulû war‘awa n‘âmakumû inna fî dhâlika la'yâtil li'ulî nnuhê

«Mangez et faites paître votre bétail». Voilà bien là des signes pour les doués d'intelligence

Eat [therefrom] and pasture your livestock. Indeed, in that are signs for those of intelligence

۞ مِنْهَا خَلَقْنَٰكُمْ وَفِيهَا نُعِيدُكُمْ وَمِنْهَا نُخْرِجُكُمْ تَارَةً ا۟خْر۪ىٰۖ ﰵ

Minhâ khalaqnâkum wafîhâ nu‘îdukum waminhâ nukhrijukum târatan ukhrê

C'est d'elle (la terre) que Nous vous avons créés, et en elle Nous vous retournerons, et d'elle Nous vous ferons sortir une fois encore

From the earth We created you, and into it We will return you, and from it We will extract you another time

وَلَقَدَ اَرَيْنَٰهُ ءَايَٰتِنَا كُلَّهَا فَكَذَّبَ وَأَب۪ىٰۖ ﰶ

Walaqada raynâhu âyâtinâ kullahâ fakadhdhaba wa'abê

Certes Nous lui avons montré tous Nos prodiges; mais il les a démentis et a refusé (de croire)

And We certainly showed Pharaoh Our signs - all of them - but he denied and refused

قَالَ أَجِئْتَنَا لِتُخْرِجَنَا مِنَ اَرْضِنَا بِسِحْرِكَ يَٰمُوس۪ىٰ ﰷ

Qâla ajî'tanâ litukhrijanâ mina rdinâ bisihrika yâmûsê

Il dit: «Es-tu venu à nous, ô Moïse, pour nous faire sortir de notre terre par ta magie

He said, "Have you come to us to drive us out of our land with your magic, O Moses

فَلَنَاتِيَنَّكَ بِسِحْرٖ مِّثْلِهِۦۖ فَاجْعَلْ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكَ مَوْعِداٗ لَّا نُخْلِفُهُۥ نَحْنُ وَلَآ أَنتَ مَكَاناٗ سِوىٗۖ ﰸ

Falanâtiyannaka bisihrim mithlihî faj‘al baynanâ wabaynaka maw‘idal lâ nukhlifuhû nahnu walâ anta makânan siwâ

Nous t'apporterons assurément une magie semblable. Fixe entre nous et toi un rendez-vous auquel ni nous ni toi ne manquerons, dans un lieu convenable»

Then we will surely bring you magic like it, so make between us and you an appointment, which we will not fail to keep and neither will you, in a place assigned

قَالَ مَوْعِدُكُمْ يَوْمُ اُ۬لزِّينَةِ وَأَنْ يُّحْشَرَ اَ۬لنَّاسُ ضُحىٗۖ ﰹ

Qâla maw‘idukum yawmu zzînati wa'ay yuhshara nnâsu duhâ

Alors Moïse dit: «Votre rendez-vous, c'est le jour de la fête. Et que les gens se rassemblent dans la matinée»

[Moses] said, "Your appointment is on the day of the festival when the people assemble at mid-morning

فَتَوَلّ۪ىٰ فِرْعَوْنُ فَجَمَعَ كَيْدَهُۥ ثُمَّ أَت۪ىٰۖ ﰺ

Fatawallê fir‘awnu fajama‘a kaydahû thumma atê

Pharaon, donc, se retira. Ensuite il rassembla sa ruse puis vint (au rendez-vous)

So Pharaoh went away, put together his plan, and then came [to Moses]

قَالَ لَهُم مُّوس۪ىٰ وَيْلَكُمْ لَا تَفْتَرُواْ عَلَى اَ۬للَّهِ كَذِباٗ فَيَسْحَتَكُم بِعَذَابٖۖ وَقَدْ خَابَ مَنِ اِ۪فْتَر۪ىٰۖ ﰻ

Qâla lahum mûsê waylakum lâ taftarû ‘alâ llâhi kadhiban fayashatakum bi‘adhâbin waqad khâba mani ftarê

Moïse leur dit: «Malheur à vous! Ne forgez pas de mensonge contre Allah: sinon par un châtiment Il vous anéantira. Celui qui forge (un mensonge) est perdu»

Moses said to the magicians summoned by Pharaoh, "Woe to you! Do not invent a lie against Allah or He will exterminate you with a punishment; and he has failed who invents [such falsehood]

فَتَنَٰزَعُوٓاْ أَمْرَهُم بَيْنَهُمْ وَأَسَرُّواْ اُ۬لنَّجْو۪ىٰۖ ﰼ

Fatanâza‘û amrahum baynahum wa'asarrû nnajwê

Là-dessus, ils se mirent à disputer entre eux de leur affaire et tinrent secrètes leurs discussions

So they disputed over their affair among themselves and concealed their private conversation

قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّ هَٰذَٰنِ لَسَٰحِرَٰنِ يُرِيدَٰنِ أَنْ يُّخْرِجَٰكُم مِّنَ اَرْضِكُم بِسِحْرِهِمَا وَيَذْهَبَا بِطَرِيقَتِكُمُ اُ۬لْمُثْل۪ىٰۖ ﰽ

Qâlû inna hâdhâni lasâhirâni yurîdâni ay yukhrijâkum mina rdikum bisihrihimâ wayadhhabâ bitarîqatikumu lmuthlê

Ils dirent: «Voici deux magiciens qui, par leur magie, veulent vous faire abandonner votre terre et emporter votre doctrine idéale

They said, "Indeed, these are two magicians who want to drive you out of your land with their magic and do away with your most exemplary way

فَأَجْمِعُواْ كَيْدَكُمْ ثُمَّ اَ۪يتُواْ صَفّاٗۖ وَقَدَ اَفْلَحَ اَ۬لْيَوْمَ مَنِ اِ۪سْتَعْل۪ىٰۖ ﰾ

Fa'ajmi‘û kaydakum thumma ytû saffan waqada flaha lyawma mani sta‘lê

Rassemblez donc votre ruse puis venez en rangs serrés. Et celui qui aura le dessus aujourd'hui aura réussi»

So resolve upon your plan and then come [forward] in line. And he has succeeded today who overcomes

قَالُواْ يَٰمُوس۪ىٰٓ إِمَّآ أَن تُلْقِيَ وَإِمَّآ أَن نَّكُونَ أَوَّلَ مَنَ اَلْق۪ىٰۖ ﰿ

Qâlû yâmûsê immâ an tulqiya wa'immâ an nakûna awwala mana lqê

Ils dirent: «O Moïse, ou tu jettes, [le premier ton bâton] ou que nous soyons les premiers à jeter?»

They said, "O Moses, either you throw or we will be the first to throw

قَالَ بَلَ اَلْقُواْۖ فَإِذَا حِبَالُهُمْ وَعِصِيُّهُمْ يُخَيَّلُ إِلَيْهِ مِن سِحْرِهِمُۥٓ أَنَّهَا تَسْع۪ىٰۖ ﱀ

Qâla bala lqû fa'idhâ hibâluhum wa‘isiyyuhum yukhayyalu ilayhi min sihrihimû annahâ tas‘ê

Il dit: «Jetez plutôt». Et voilà que leurs cordes et leurs bâtons lui parurent ramper par l'effet de leur magie

He said, "Rather, you throw." And suddenly their ropes and staffs seemed to him from their magic that they were moving [like snakes]

فَأَوْجَسَ فِے نَفْسِهِۦ خِيفَةٗ مُّوس۪ىٰۖ ﱁ

Fa'awjasa fî nafsihî khîfatam mûsê

Moïse ressentit quelque peur en lui-même

And he sensed within himself apprehension, did Moses

قُلْنَا لَا تَخَفِ اِنَّكَ أَنتَ اَ۬لَاعْل۪ىٰۖ ﱂ

Qulnâ lâ takhafi nnaka anta la‘lê

Nous lui dîmes: «N'aie pas peur, c'est toi qui auras le dessus

Allah said, "Fear not. Indeed, it is you who are superior

وَأَلْقِ مَا فِے يَمِينِكَ تَلَقَّفْ مَا صَنَعُوٓاْۖ إِنَّمَا صَنَعُواْ كَيْدُ سَٰحِرٖۖ وَلَا يُفْلِحُ اُ۬لسَّاحِرُ حَيْثُ أَت۪ىٰۖ ﱃ

Wa'alqi mâ fî yamînika talaqqaf mâ sana‘û innamâ sana‘û kaydu sâhirin walâ yuflihu ssâhiru haythu atê

Jette ce qu'il y a dans ta main droite; cela dévorera ce qu'ils ont fabriqué. Ce qu'ils ont fabriqué n'est qu'une ruse de magicien; et le magicien ne réussit pas, où qu'il soit»

And throw what is in your right hand; it will swallow up what they have crafted. What they have crafted is but the trick of a magician, and the magician will not succeed wherever he is

فَأُلْقِيَ اَ۬لسَّحَرَةُ سُجَّداٗۖ قَالُوٓاْ ءَامَنَّا بِرَبِّ هَٰرُونَ وَمُوس۪ىٰۖ ﱄ

Fa'ulqiya ssaharatu sujjadan qâlû âmannâ birabbi hârûna wamûsê

Les magiciens se jetèrent prosternés, disant: «Nous avons foi en le Seigneur d'Aaron et de Moïse»

So the magicians fell down in prostration. They said, "We have believed in the Lord of Aaron and Moses

قَالَ ءَاٰ۬مَنتُمْ لَهُۥ قَبْلَ أَنَ اٰذَنَ لَكُمُۥٓ إِنَّهُۥ لَكَبِيرُكُمُ اُ۬لذِے عَلَّمَكُمُ اُ۬لسِّحْرَۖ فَلَأُقَطِّعَنَّ أَيْدِيَكُمْ وَأَرْجُلَكُم مِّنْ خِلَٰفٖ وَلَأُصَلِّبَنَّكُمْ فِے جُذُوعِ اِ۬لنَّخْلِ وَلَتَعْلَمُنَّ أَيُّنَآ أَشَدُّ عَذَاباٗ وَأَبْق۪ىٰۖ ﱅ

Qâla âmantum lahû qabla ana âdhana lakumû innahû lakabîrukumu lladhî ‘allamakumu ssihra fala'uqatti‘anna aydiyakum wa'arjulakum min khilâfin wala'usallibannakum fî judhû‘i nnakhli walata‘lamunna ayyunâ ashaddu ‘adhâban wa'abqê

Alors Pharaon dit: «Avez-vous cru en lui avant que je ne vous y autorise? C'est lui votre chef qui vous a enseigné la magie. Je vous ferai sûrement, couper mains et jambes opposées, et vous ferai crucifier aux troncs des palmiers, et vous saurez, avec certitude, qui de nous est plus fort en châtiment et qui est le plus durable»

[Pharaoh] said, "You believed him before I gave you permission. Indeed, he is your leader who has taught you magic. So I will surely cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides, and I will crucify you on the trunks of palm trees, and you will surely know which of us is more severe in [giving] punishment and more enduring

۞ قَالُواْ لَن نُّوثِرَكَ عَلَىٰ مَا جَآءَنَا مِنَ اَ۬لْبَيِّنَٰتِ وَالذِے فَطَرَنَاۖ فَاقْضِ مَآ أَنتَ قَاضٍۖ اِنَّمَا تَقْضِے هَٰذِهِ اِ۬لْحَيَوٰةَ اَ۬لدُّنْي۪آۖ ﱆ

Qâlû lan nûthiraka ‘alâ mâ jâ'anâ mina lbayyinâti walladhî fataranâ faqdi mâ anta qâdini nnamâ taqdî hâdhihi lhayawâta ddunyê

«Par celui qui nous a créés, dirent-ils, nous ne te préférerons jamais à ce qui nous est parvenu comme preuves évidentes. Décrète donc ce que tu as à décréter. Tes décrets ne touchent que cette présente vie

They said, "Never will we prefer you over what has come to us of clear proofs and [over] He who created us. So decree whatever you are to decree. You can only decree for this worldly life

إِنَّآ ءَامَنَّا بِرَبِّنَا لِيَغْفِرَ لَنَا خَطَٰيٰ۪نَا وَمَآ أَكْرَهْتَنَا عَلَيْهِ مِنَ اَ۬لسِّحْرِۖ وَاللَّهُ خَيْرٞ وَأَبْق۪ىٰٓۖ ﱇ

Innâ âmannâ birabbinâ liyaghfira lanâ khatânâ wamâ akrahtanâ ‘alayhi mina ssihri wallâhu khayrun wa'abqê

Nous croyons en notre Seigneur, afin qu'Il nous pardonne nos fautes ainsi que la magie à laquelle tu nous as contraints». Et Allah est meilleur et éternel

Indeed, we have believed in our Lord that He may forgive us our sins and what you compelled us [to do] of magic. And Allah is better and more enduring

إِنَّهُۥ مَنْ يَّاتِ رَبَّهُۥ مُجْرِماٗ فَإِنَّ لَهُۥ جَهَنَّمَ لَا يَمُوتُ فِيهَا وَلَا يَحْي۪ىٰۖ ﱈ

Innahû may yâti rabbahû mujriman fa'inna lahû jahannama lâ yamûtu fîhâ walâ yahyê

Quiconque vient en criminel à son Seigneur, aura certes l'Enfer où il ne meurt ni ne vit

Indeed, whoever comes to his Lord as a criminal - indeed, for him is Hell; he will neither die therein nor live

وَمَنْ يَّاتِهِۦ مُومِناٗ قَدْ عَمِلَ اَ۬لصَّٰلِحَٰتِ فَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ لَهُمُ اُ۬لدَّرَجَٰتُ اُ۬لْعُل۪ىٰۖ ﱉ

Wamay yâtihî mûminan qad ‘amila ssâlihâti fa'ulâ'ika lahumu ddarajâtu l‘ulê

Et quiconque vient auprès de Lui en croyant, après avoir fait de bonnes œuvres, voilà donc ceux qui auront les plus hauts rangs

But whoever comes to Him as a believer having done righteous deeds - for those will be the highest degrees [in position]

جَنَّٰتُ عَدْنٖ تَجْرِے مِن تَحْتِهَا اَ۬لَانْهَٰرُ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَاۖ وَذَٰلِكَ جَزَآءُ مَن تَزَكّ۪ىٰۖ ﱊ

Jannâtu ‘adnin tajrî min tahtihâ lanhâru khâlidîna fîhâ wadhâlika jazâ'u man tazakkê

les jardins du séjour (éternel), sous lesquels coulent les ruisseaux, où ils demeureront éternellement. Et voilà la récompense de ceux qui se purifient [de la mécréance et des péchés]

Gardens of perpetual residence beneath which rivers flow, wherein they abide eternally. And that is the reward of one who purifies himself

وَلَقَدَ اَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَىٰ مُوس۪ىٰٓ أَنِ اِ۪سْرِ بِعِبَادِے فَاضْرِبْ لَهُمْ طَرِيقاٗ فِے اِ۬لْبَحْرِ يَبَساٗ لَّا تَخَٰفُ دَرَكاٗ وَلَا تَخْش۪ىٰۖ ﱋ

Walaqada whaynâ ilâ mûsê ani sri bi‘ibâdî fadrib lahum tarîqan fî lbahri yabasal lâ takhâfu darakan walâ takhshê

Nous révélâmes à Moïse: «Pars la nuit, à la tête de Mes serviteurs, puis, trace-leur un passage à sec dans la mer: sans craindre une poursuite et sans éprouver aucune peur»

And We had inspired to Moses, "Travel by night with My servants and strike for them a dry path through the sea; you will not fear being overtaken [by Pharaoh] nor be afraid [of drowning]

فَأَتْبَعَهُمْ فِرْعَوْنُ بِجُنُودِهِۦ فَغَشِيَهُم مِّنَ اَ۬لْيَمِّ مَا غَشِيَهُمْۖ وَأَضَلَّ فِرْعَوْنُ قَوْمَهُۥ وَمَا هَد۪ىٰۖ ﱌ

Fa'atba‘ahum fir‘awnu bijunûdihî faghashiyahum mina lyammi mâ ghashiyahum wa'adalla fir‘awnu qawmahû wamâ hadê

Pharaon les poursuivit avec ses armées. La mer les submergea bel et bien Pharaon égara ainsi son peuple et ne le mît pas sur le droit chemin

So Pharaoh pursued them with his soldiers, and there covered them from the sea that which covered them And Pharaoh led his people astray and did not guide [them]

يَٰبَنِےٓ إِسْرَآءِيلَ قَدَ اَنجَيْنَٰكُم مِّنْ عَدُوِّكُمْ وَوَٰعَدْنَٰكُمْ جَانِبَ اَ۬لطُّورِ اِ۬لَايْمَنَ وَنَزَّلْنَا عَلَيْكُمُ اُ۬لْمَنَّ وَالسَّلْو۪ىٰۖ ﱍ

Yâbanî isrâ'îla qada njaynâkum min ‘aduwwikum wawâ‘adnâkum jâniba ttûri laymana wanazzalnâ ‘alaykumu lmanna wassalwê

O Enfants d'Israël, Nous vous avons déjà délivrés de votre ennemi, et Nous vous avons donné rendez-vous sur le flanc droit du Mont. Et Nous avons fait descendre sur vous la manne et les cailles

O Children of Israel, We delivered you from your enemy, and We made an appointment with you at the right side of the mount, and We sent down to you manna and quails

كُلُواْ مِن طَيِّبَٰتِ مَا رَزَقْنَٰكُمْ وَلَا تَطْغَوْاْ فِيهِ فَيَحِلَّ عَلَيْكُمْ غَضَبِےۖ وَمَنْ يَّحْلِلْ عَلَيْهِ غَضَبِے فَقَدْ هَو۪ىٰۖ ﱎ

Kulû min tayyibâti mâ razaqnâkum walâ tatghaw fîhi fayahilla ‘alaykum ghadabî wamay yahlil ‘alayhi ghadabî faqad hawê

«Mangez des bonnes choses que Nous vous avons attribuées et ne vous montrez pas ingrats, sinon Ma colère s'abattra sur vous: et celui sur qui Ma colère s'abat, va sûrement vers l'abîme

[Saying], "Eat from the good things with which We have provided you and do not transgress [or oppress others] therein, lest My anger should descend upon you. And he upon whom My anger descends has certainly fallen

وَإِنِّے لَغَفَّارٞ لِّمَن تَابَ وَءَامَنَ وَعَمِلَ صَٰلِحاٗ ثُمَّ اَ۪هْتَد۪ىٰۖ ﱏ

Wa'innî laghaffârul liman tâba wa'âmana wa‘amila sâlihan thumma htadê

Et je suis Grand Pardonneur à celui qui se repent, croit, fait bonne œuvre, puis se met sur le bon chemin»

But indeed, I am the Perpetual Forgiver of whoever repents and believes and does righteousness and then continues in guidance

۞ وَمَآ أَعْجَلَكَ عَن قَوْمِكَ يَٰمُوس۪ىٰۖ ﱐ

Wamâ a‘jalaka ‘an qawmika yâmûsê

«Pourquoi Moïse t'es-tu hâté de quitter ton peuple?»

[Allah] said, "And what made you hasten from your people, O Moses

قَالَ هُمُۥٓ أُوْلَآءِ عَلَىٰٓ أَثَرِے وَعَجِلْتُ إِلَيْكَ رَبِّ لِتَرْض۪ىٰۖ ﱑ

Qâla humû ulâ'i ‘alâ atharî wa‘ajiltu ilayka rabbi litardê

Ils sont là sur mes traces, dit Moïse. Et je me suis hâté vers Toi, Seigneur, afin que Tu sois satisfait

He said, "They are close upon my tracks, and I hastened to You, my Lord, that You be pleased

قَالَ فَإِنَّا قَدْ فَتَنَّا قَوْمَكَ مِنۢ بَعْدِكَ وَأَضَلَّهُمُ اُ۬لسَّامِرِيُّۖ ﱒ

Qâla fa'innâ qad fatannâ qawmaka mim ba‘dika wa'adallahumu ssâmiriyy

Allah dit: «Nous avons mis ton peuple à l'épreuve après ton départ. Et le Sâmirî les a égarés»

[Allah] said, "But indeed, We have tried your people after you [departed], and the Samiri has led them astray

فَرَجَعَ مُوس۪ىٰٓ إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِۦ غَضْبَٰنَ أَسِفاٗۖ قَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ أَلَمْ يَعِدْكُمْ رَبُّكُمْ وَعْداً حَسَناًۖ ﱓ

Faraja‘a mûsê ilâ qawmihî ghadbâna asifan qâla yâqawmi alam ya‘idkum rabbukum wa‘dan hasanâ

Moïse retourna donc vers son peuple, courroucé et chagriné; il dit: «O mon peuple, votre Seigneur ne vous a-t-Il pas déjà fait une belle promesse? L'alliance a-t-elle donc été trop longue pour vous? ou avez-vous désiré que la colère de votre Seigneur s'abatte sur vous, pour avoir trahi votre engagement envers moi?»

So Moses returned to his people, angry and grieved. He said, "O my people, did your Lord not make you a good promise? Then, was the time [of its fulfillment] too long for you, or did you wish that wrath from your Lord descend upon you, so you broke your promise [of obedience] to me

اَفَطَالَ عَلَيْكُمُ اُ۬لْعَهْدُ أَمَ اَرَدتُّمُۥٓ أَنْ يَّحِلَّ عَلَيْكُمْ غَضَبٞ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ فَأَخْلَفْتُم مَّوْعِدِےۖ ﱔ

Afatâla ‘alaykumu l‘ahdu ama radttumû ay yahilla ‘alaykum ghadabum mir rabbikum fa'akhlaftum maw‘idî

قَالُواْ مَآ أَخْلَفْنَا مَوْعِدَكَ بِمَلْكِنَا وَلَٰكِنَّا حُمِّلْنَآ أَوْزَاراٗ مِّن زِينَةِ اِ۬لْقَوْمِ فَقَذَفْنَٰهَا فَكَذَٰلِكَ أَلْقَى اَ۬لسَّامِرِيُّۖ فَأَخْرَجَ لَهُمْ عِجْلاٗ جَسَداٗ لَّهُۥ خُوَارٞ فَقَالُواْ هَٰذَآ إِلَٰهُكُمْ وَإِلَٰهُ مُوس۪ىٰ فَنَسِيَۖ ﱕ

Qâlû mâ akhlafnâ maw‘idaka bimalkinâ walâkinnâ hummilnâ awzâram min zînati lqawmi faqadhafnâhâ fakadhâlika alqâ ssâmiriyyu fa'akhraja lahum ‘ijlan jasadal lahû khuwârun faqâlû hâdhâ ilâhukum wa'ilâhu mûsê fanasiy

Ils dirent: «Ce n'est pas de notre propre gré que nous avons manqué à notre engagement envers toi. Mais nous fûmes chargés de fardeaux d'ornements du peuple (de Pharaon); nous les avons donc jetés (sur le feu) tout comme le Sâmirî les a lancés Puis il en a fait sortir pour eux un veau, un corps à mugissement. Et ils ont dit: «C'est votre divinité et la divinité de Moïse; il a donc oublié»

They said, "We did not break our promise to you by our will, but we were made to carry burdens from the ornaments of the people [of Pharaoh], so we threw them [into the fire], and thus did the Samiri throw And he extracted for them [the statue of] a calf which had a lowing sound, and they said, "This is your god and the god of Moses, but he forgot

أَفَلَا يَرَوْنَ أَلَّا يَرْجِعُ إِلَيْهِمْ قَوْلاٗ ﱖ

Afalâ yarawna allâ yarji‘u ilayhim qawlâ

Quoi! Ne voyaient-ils pas qu'il [le veau] ne leur rendait aucune parole et qu'il ne possédait aucun moyen de leur nuire ou de leur faire du bien

Did they not see that it could not return to them any speech and that it did not possess for them any harm or benefit

وَلَا يَمْلِكُ لَهُمْ ضَرّاٗ وَلَا نَفْعاٗۖ ﱗ

Walâ yamliku lahum darran walâ naf‘â

وَلَقَدْ قَالَ لَهُمْ هَٰرُونُ مِن قَبْلُ يَٰقَوْمِ إِنَّمَا فُتِنتُم بِهِۦۖ وَإِنَّ رَبَّكُمُ اُ۬لرَّحْمَٰنُ فَاتَّبِعُونِے وَأَطِيعُوٓاْ أَمْرِےۖ ﱘ

Walaqad qâla lahum hârûnu min qablu yâqawmi innamâ futintum bihî wa'inna rabbakumu rrahmânu fattabi‘ûnî wa'atî‘û amrî

Certes, Aaron leur avait bien dit auparavant: «O mon peuple, vous êtes tombés dans la tentation (à cause du veau). Or, c'est le Tout Miséricordieux qui est vraiment votre Seigneur. Suivez-moi donc et obéissez à mon commandement»

And Aaron had already told them before [the return of Moses], "O my people, you are only being tested by it, and indeed, your Lord is the Most Merciful, so follow me and obey my order

قَالُواْ لَن نَّبْرَحَ عَلَيْهِ عَٰكِفِينَ حَتَّىٰ يَرْجِعَ إِلَيْنَا مُوس۪ىٰۖ ﱙ

Qâlû lan nabraha ‘alayhi ‘âkifîna hattâ yarji‘a ilaynâ mûsê

Ils dirent: «Nous continuerons à y être attachés, jusqu'à ce que Moïse retourne vers nous»

They said, "We will never cease being devoted to the calf until Moses returns to us

قَالَ يَٰهَٰرُونُ مَا مَنَعَكَ إِذْ رَأَيْتَهُمْ ضَلُّوٓاْ أَلَّا تَتَّبِعَنِۦٓ أَفَعَصَيْتَ أَمْرِےۖ ﱚ

Qâla yâhârûnu mâ mana‘aka idh ra'aytahum dallû allâ tattabi‘anî afa‘asayta amrî

Alors [Moïse] dit: «Qu'est-ce qui t'a empêché, Aaron, quand tu les as vus s'égarer de me suivre? As-tu donc désobéi à mon commandement?»

[Moses] said, "O Aaron, what prevented you, when you saw them going astray From following me? Then have you disobeyed my order

قَالَ يَبْنَؤُمَّ لَا تَاخُذْ بِلِحْيَتِے وَلَا بِرَأْسِيَ إِنِّے خَشِيتُ أَن تَقُولَ فَرَّقْتَ بَيْنَ بَنِےٓ إِسْرَآءِيلَ وَلَمْ تَرْقُبْ قَوْلِےۖ ﱛ

Qâla yabna'umma lâ tâkhudh bilihyatî walâ bira'siya innî khashîtu an taqûla farraqta bayna banî isrâ'îla walam tarqub qawlî

[Aaron] dit: «O fils de ma mère, ne me prends ni par la barbe ni par la tête. Je craignais que tu ne dises: «Tu as divisé les enfants d'Israël et tu n'as pas observé mes ordres»

[Aaron] said, "O son of my mother, do not seize [me] by my beard or by my head. Indeed, I feared that you would say, 'You caused division among the Children of Israel, and you did not observe [or await] my word

قَالَ فَمَا خَطْبُكَ يَٰسَٰمِرِيُّۖ ﱜ

Qâla famâ khatbuka yâsâmiriyy

Alors [Moïse] dit: «Quel a été ton dessein? O Sâmirî?»

[Moses] said, "And what is your case, O Samiri

قَالَ بَصُرْتُ بِمَا لَمْ يَبْصُرُواْ بِهِۦ فَقَبَضْتُ قَبْضَةٗ مِّنَ اَثَرِ اِ۬لرَّسُولِ فَنَبَذْتُهَا وَكَذَٰلِكَ سَوَّلَتْ لِے نَفْسِےۖ ﱝ

Qâla basurtu bimâ lam yabsurû bihî faqabadtu qabdatam mina thari rrasûli fanabadhtuhâ wakadhâlika sawwalat lî nafsî

Il dit: «J'ai vu ce qu'ils n'ont pas vu: j'ai donc pris une poignée de la trace de l'Envoyé; puis, je l'ai lancée. Voilà ce que mon âme m'a suggéré»

He said, "I saw what they did not see, so I took a handful [of dust] from the track of the messenger and threw it, and thus did my soul entice me

۞ قَالَ فَاذْهَبْ فَإِنَّ لَكَ فِے اِ۬لْحَيَوٰةِ أَن تَقُولَ لَا مِسَاسَۖ وَإِنَّ لَكَ مَوْعِداٗ لَّن تُخْلَفَهُۥۖ وَانظُرِ اِلَىٰٓ إِلَٰهِكَ اَ۬لذِے ظَلْتَ عَلَيْهِ عَاكِفاٗ لَّنُحَرِّقَنَّهُۥ ثُمَّ لَنَنسِفَنَّهُۥ فِے اِ۬لْيَمِّ نَسْفاًۖ ﱞ

Qâla fadhhab fa'inna laka fî lhayawâti an taqûla lâ misâsa wa'inna laka maw‘idal lan tukhlafahû wânzuri lâ ilâhika lladhî zalta ‘alayhi ‘âkifal lanuharriqannahû thumma lanansifannahû fî lyammi nasfâ

«Va-t-en, dit [Moïse]. Dans la vie, tu auras à dire (à tout le monde): «Ne me touchez pas!» Et il y aura pour toi un rendez-vous que tu ne pourras manquer. Regarde ta divinité que tu as adorée avec assiduité. Nous la brûlerons certes, et ensuite, nous disperserons [sa cendre] dans les flots

[Moses] said, "Then go. And indeed, it is [decreed] for you in [this] life to say, 'No contact.' And indeed, you have an appointment [in the Hereafter] you will not fail to keep. And look at your 'god' to which you remained devoted. We will surely burn it and blow it into the sea with a blast

اِنَّمَآ إِلَٰهُكُمُ اُ۬للَّهُ اُ۬لذِے لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَۖ وَسِعَ كُلَّ شَےْءٍ عِلْماٗۖ ﱟ

Innamâ ilâhukumu llâhu lladhî lâ ilâha illâ huwa wasi‘a kulla shay'in ‘ilmâ

En vérité, votre seul Dieu est Allah en dehors de qui il n'y a point de divinité. De Sa science Il embrasse tout

Your god is only Allah, except for whom there is no deity. He has encompassed all things in knowledge

كَذَٰلِكَ نَقُصُّ عَلَيْكَ مِنَ اَنۢبَآءِ مَا قَدْ سَبَقَۖ وَقَدَ اٰتَيْنَٰكَ مِن لَّدُنَّا ذِكْراٗۖ ﱠ

Kadhâlika naqussu ‘alayka mina mbâ'i mâ qad sabaqa waqada âtaynâka mil ladunnâ dhikrâ

C'est ainsi que Nous te racontons les récits de ce qui s'est passé. C'est bien un rappel de Notre part que Nous t'avons apporté

Thus, [O Muhammad], We relate to you from the news of what has preceded. And We have certainly given you from Us the Qur'an

مَّنَ اَعْرَضَ عَنْهُ فَإِنَّهُۥ يَحْمِلُ يَوْمَ اَ۬لْقِيَٰمَةِ وِزْراً ﱡ

Mana ‘rada ‘anhu fa'innahû yahmilu yawma lqiyâmati wizrâ

Quiconque s'en détourne (de ce Coran), portera au jour de la résurrection un fardeau

Whoever turns away from it - then indeed, he will bear on the Day of Resurrection a burden

خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهِۖ وَسَآءَ لَهُمْ يَوْمَ اَ۬لْقِيَٰمَةِ حِمْلاٗۖ ﱢ

Khâlidîna fîhi wasâ'a lahum yawma lqiyâmati himlâ

ils resteront éternellement dans cet état, et quel mauvais fardeau pour eux au Jour de la Résurrection

[Abiding] eternally therein, and evil it is for them on the Day of Resurrection as a load

يَوْمَ يُنفَخُ فِے اِ۬لصُّورِ وَنَحْشُرُ اُ۬لْمُجْرِمِينَ يَوْمَئِذٖ زُرْقاٗ ﱣ

Yawma yunfakhu fî ssûri wanahshuru lmujrimîna yawma'idhin zurqâ

Le jour où l'on soufflera dans la Trompe, ce jour-là Nous rassemblerons les criminels tout bleus (de peur)

The Day the Horn will be blown. And We will gather the criminals, that Day, blue-eyed

يَتَخَٰفَتُونَ بَيْنَهُمُۥٓ إِن لَّبِثْتُمُۥٓ إِلَّا عَشْراٗۖ ﱤ

Yatakhâfatûna baynahumû il labithtumû illâ ‘ashrâ

Ils chuchoteront entre eux: «Vous n'êtes restés là que dix [jours]!»

They will murmur among themselves, "You remained not but ten [days in the world]

نَّحْنُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يَقُولُونَ إِذْ يَقُولُ أَمْثَلُهُمْ طَرِيقَةً اِن لَّبِثْتُمُۥٓ إِلَّا يَوْماٗۖ ﱥ

Nahnu a‘lamu bimâ yaqûlûna idh yaqûlu amthaluhum tarîqatani l labithtumû illâ yawmâ

Nous connaissons parfaitement ce qu'ils diront lorsque l'un d'entre eux dont la conduite est exemplaire dira: «Vous n'êtes restés qu'un jour»

We are most knowing of what they say when the best of them in manner will say, "You remained not but one day

وَيَسْـَٔلُونَكَ عَنِ اِ۬لْجِبَالِ فَقُلْ يَنسِفُهَا رَبِّے نَسْفاٗ ﱦ

Wayas'alûnaka ‘ani ljibâli faqul yansifuhâ rabbî nasfâ

Et ils t'interrogent au sujet des montagnes. Dis: «Mon Seigneur les dispersera comme la poussière

And they ask you about the mountains, so say, "My Lord will blow them away with a blast

فَيَذَرُهَا قَاعاٗ صَفْصَفاٗ لَّا تَر۪ىٰ فِيهَا عِوَجاٗ وَلَآ أَمْتاٗۖ ﱧ

Fayadharuhâ qâ‘an safsafal lâ tarê fîhâ ‘iwajan walâ amah

et les laissera comme une plaine dénudée dans laquelle tu ne verras ni tortuosité, ni dépression

And He will leave the earth a level plain You will not see therein a depression or an elevation

يَوْمَئِذٖ يَتَّبِعُونَ اَ۬لدَّاعِيَ لَا عِوَجَ لَهُۥۖ وَخَشَعَتِ اِ۬لَاصْوَاتُ لِلرَّحْمَٰنِ فَلَا تَسْمَعُ إِلَّا هَمْساٗۖ ﱨ

Yawma'idhin yattabi‘ûna ddâ‘iya lâ ‘iwaja lahû wakhasha‘ati laswâtu lirrahmâni falâ tasma‘u illâ hamsâ

Ce jour-là, ils suivront le Convocateur sans tortuosité; et les voix baisseront devant le Tout Miséricordieux. Tu n'entendras alors qu'un chuchotement

That Day, everyone will follow [the call of] the Caller [with] no deviation therefrom, and [all] voices will be stilled before the Most Merciful, so you will not hear except a whisper [of footsteps]

يَوْمَئِذٖ لَّا تَنفَعُ اُ۬لشَّفَٰعَةُ إِلَّا مَنَ اَذِنَ لَهُ اُ۬لرَّحْمَٰنُ وَرَضِيَ لَهُۥ قَوْلاٗۖ ﱩ

Yawma'idhil lâ tanfa‘u shshafâ‘atu illâ mana dhina lahu rrahmânu waradiya lahû qawlâ

Ce jour-là, l'intercession ne profitera qu'à celui auquel le Tout Miséricordieux aura donné Sa permission et dont Il agréera la parole

That Day, no intercession will benefit except [that of] one to whom the Most Merciful has given permission and has accepted his word

يَعْلَمُ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمَا خَلْفَهُمْ وَلَا يُحِيطُونَ بِهِۦ عِلْماٗۖ ﱪ

Ya‘lamu mâ bayna aydîhim wamâ khalfahum walâ yuhîtûna bihî ‘ilmâ

Il connaît ce qui est devant eux et ce qui est derrière eux, alors qu'eux-mêmes ne Le cernent pas de leur science

Allah knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, but they do not encompass it in knowledge

۞ وَعَنَتِ اِ۬لْوُجُوهُ لِلْحَيِّ اِ۬لْقَيُّومِۖ وَقَدْ خَابَ مَنْ حَمَلَ ظُلْماٗۖ ﱫ

Wa‘anati lwujûhu lilhayyi lqayyûmi waqad khâba man hamala zulmâ

Et les visages s'humilieront devant Le Vivant, Celui qui subsiste par Lui-même «al-Qayyûm», et malheureux sera celui qui [se présentera devant Lui] chargé d'une iniquité

And [all] faces will be humbled before the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of existence. And he will have failed who carries injustice

وَمَنْ يَّعْمَلْ مِنَ اَ۬لصَّٰلِحَٰتِ وَهُوَ مُومِنٞ فَلَا يَخَافُ ظُلْماٗ وَلَا هَضْماٗۖ ﱬ

Wamay ya‘mal mina ssâlihâti wahuwa mûminun falâ yakhâfu zulman walâ hadmâ

Et quiconque aura fait de bonnes œuvres tout en étant croyant, ne craindra ni injustice ni oppression

But he who does of righteous deeds while he is a believer - he will neither fear injustice nor deprivation

وَكَذَٰلِكَ أَنزَلْنَٰهُ قُرْءَاناً عَرَبِيّاٗ وَصَرَّفْنَا فِيهِ مِنَ اَ۬لْوَعِيدِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَّقُونَ أَوْ يُحْدِثُ لَهُمْ ذِكْراٗۖ ﱭ

Wakadhâlika anzalnâhu qur'ânan ‘arabiyyan wasarrafnâ fîhi mina lwa‘îdi la‘allahum yattaqûna aw yuhdithu lahum dhikrâ

C'est ainsi que nous l'avons fait descendre un Coran en [langue] arabe, et Nous y avons multiplié les menaces, afin qu'ils deviennent pieux ou qu'il les incite à s'exhorter

And thus We have sent it down as an Arabic Qur'an and have diversified therein the warnings that perhaps they will avoid [sin] or it would cause them remembrance

فَتَعَٰلَى اَ۬للَّهُ اُ۬لْمَلِكُ اُ۬لْحَقُّۖ وَلَا تَعْجَلْ بِالْقُرْءَانِ مِن قَبْلِ أَنْ يُّقْض۪ىٰٓ إِلَيْكَ وَحْيُهُۥۖ وَقُل رَّبِّ زِدْنِے عِلْماٗۖ ﱮ

Fata‘âlâ llâhu lmaliku lhaqqu walâ ta‘jal bilqur'âni min qabli ay yuqdê ilayka wahyuhû waqul rabbi zidnî ‘ilmâ

Que soit éxalté Allah, le Vrai Souverain! Ne te hâte pas [de réciter] le Coran avant que ne te soit achevée sa révélation. Et dis: «O mon Seigneur, accroît mes connaissances!»

So high [above all] is Allah, the Sovereign, the Truth. And, [O Muhammad], do not hasten with [recitation of] the Qur'an before its revelation is completed to you, and say, "My Lord, increase me in knowledge

وَلَقَدْ عَهِدْنَآ إِلَىٰٓ ءَادَمَ مِن قَبْلُ فَنَسِيَ وَلَمْ نَجِدْ لَهُۥ عَزْماٗۖ ﱯ

Walaqad ‘ahidnâ ilâ âdama min qablu fanasiya walam najid lahû ‘azmâ

En effet, Nous avons auparavant fait une recommandation à Adam; mais il oublia; et Nous n'avons pas trouvé chez lui de résolution ferme

And We had already taken a promise from Adam before, but he forgot; and We found not in him determination

وَإِذْ قُلْنَا لِلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ اِ۟سْجُدُواْ لِأٓدَمَ فَسَجَدُوٓاْۖ إِلَّآ إِبْلِيسَ أَب۪ىٰۖ ﱰ

Wa'idh qulnâ lilmalâ'ikati sjudû li'dama fasajadû illâ iblîsa abê

Et quand Nous dîmes aux Anges: «Prosternez-vous devant Adam», ils se prosternèrent, excepté Iblis qui refusa

And [mention] when We said to the angels, "Prostrate to Adam," and they prostrated, except Iblees; he refused

فَقُلْنَا يَٰٓـَٔادَمُ إِنَّ هَٰذَا عَدُوّٞ لَّكَ وَلِزَوْجِكَ فَلَا يُخْرِجَنَّكُمَا مِنَ اَ۬لْجَنَّةِ فَتَشْق۪ىٰٓۖ ﱱ

Faqulnâ yâ'âdamu inna hâdhâ ‘aduwwul laka walizawjika falâ yukhrijannakumâ mina ljannati fatashqê

Alors Nous dîmes: «O Adam, celui-là est vraiment un ennemi pour toi et ton épouse. Prenez garde qu'il vous fasse sortir du Paradis, car alors tu seras malheureux

So We said, "O Adam, indeed this is an enemy to you and to your wife. Then let him not remove you from Paradise so you would suffer

إِنَّ لَكَ أَلَّا تَجُوعَ فِيهَا وَلَا تَعْر۪ىٰۖ ﱲ

Inna laka allâ tajû‘a fîhâ walâ ta‘rê

Car tu n'y auras pas faim ni ne seras nu

Indeed, it is [promised] for you not to be hungry therein or be unclothed

وَإِنَّكَ لَا تَظْمَؤُاْ فِيهَا وَلَا تَضْح۪ىٰۖ ﱳ

Wa'innaka lâ tazma'u fîhâ walâ tadhê

tu n'y auras pas soif ni ne seras frappé par l'ardeur du soleil»

And indeed, you will not be thirsty therein or be hot from the sun

فَوَسْوَسَ إِلَيْهِ اِ۬لشَّيْطَٰنُۖ قَالَ يَٰٓـَٔادَمُ هَلَ اَدُلُّكَ عَلَىٰ شَجَرَةِ اِ۬لْخُلْدِ وَمُلْكٖ لَّا يَبْل۪ىٰۖ ﱴ

Fawaswasa ilayhi shshaytânu qâla yâ'âdamu hala dulluka ‘alâ shajarati lkhuldi wamulkil lâ yablê

Puis le Diable le tenta en disant: «O Adam, t'indiquerai-je l'arbre de l'éternité et un royaume impérissable?»

Then Satan whispered to him; he said, "O Adam, shall I direct you to the tree of eternity and possession that will not deteriorate

فَأَكَلَا مِنْهَا فَبَدَتْ لَهُمَا سَوْءَٰتُهُمَا وَطَفِقَا يَخْصِفَٰنِ عَلَيْهِمَا مِنْ وَّرَقِ اِ۬لْجَنَّةِۖ وَعَص۪ىٰٓ ءَادَمُ رَبَّهُۥ فَغَو۪ىٰۖ ﱵ

Fa'akalâ minhâ fabadat lahumâ saw'âtuhumâ watafiqâ yakhsifâni ‘alayhimâ miw waraqi ljannati wa‘asê âdamu rabbahû faghawê

Tous deux (Adam et Eve) en mangèrent. Alors leur apparut leur nudité. Ils se mirent à se couvrir avec des feuilles du paradis. Adam désobéit ainsi à son Seigneur et il s'égara

And Adam and his wife ate of it, and their private parts became apparent to them, and they began to fasten over themselves from the leaves of Paradise. And Adam disobeyed his Lord and erred

ثُمَّ اَ۪جْتَبٰ۪هُ رَبُّهُۥ فَتَابَ عَلَيْهِ وَهَد۪ىٰۖ ﱶ

Thumma jtabêhu rabbuhû fatâba ‘alayhi wahadê

Son Seigneur l'a ensuite élu, agréé son repentir et l'a guidé

Then his Lord chose him and turned to him in forgiveness and guided [him]

قَالَ اَ۪هْبِطَا مِنْهَا جَمِيعاَۢۖ بَعْضُكُمْ لِبَعْضٍ عَدُوّٞۖ فَإِمَّا يَاتِيَنَّكُم مِّنِّے هُدىٗ ﱷ

Qâla hbitâ minhâ jamî‘am ba‘dukum liba‘din ‘aduwwun fa'immâ yâtiyannakum minnî hudâ

Il dit: «Descendez d'ici, (Adam et Eve), [Vous serez] tous (avec vos descendants) ennemis les uns des autres. Puis, si jamais un guide vous vient de Ma part, quiconque suit Mon guide ne s'égarera ni ne sera malheureux

[Allah] said, "Descend from Paradise - all, [your descendants] being enemies to one another. And if there should come to you guidance from Me - then whoever follows My guidance will neither go astray [in the world] nor suffer [in the Hereafter]

فَمَنِ اِ۪تَّبَعَ هُد۪ايَ فَلَا يَضِلُّ وَلَا يَشْق۪ىٰۖ ﱸ

Famani ttaba‘a hudêya falâ yadillu walâ yashqê

↑ ترجمة هذه الآية مضمّنة في ترجمة الآية السابقة (آية واحدة في عدّ حفص).

وَمَنَ اَعْرَضَ عَن ذِكْرِے فَإِنَّ لَهُۥ مَعِيشَةٗ ضَنكاٗ وَنَحْشُرُهُۥ يَوْمَ اَ۬لْقِيَٰمَةِ أَعْم۪ىٰۖ ﱹ

Wamana ‘rada ‘an dhikrî fa'inna lahû ma‘îshatan dankan wanahshuruhû yawma lqiyâmati a‘mê

Et quiconque se détourne de Mon Rappel, mènera certes, une vie pleine de gêne, et le Jour de la Résurrection Nous l'amènerons aveugle au rassemblement»

And whoever turns away from My remembrance - indeed, he will have a depressed life, and We will gather him on the Day of Resurrection blind

قَالَ رَبِّ لِمَ حَشَرْتَنِيَ أَعْم۪ىٰ وَقَدْ كُنتُ بَصِيراٗۖ ﱺ

Qâla rabbi lima hashartaniya a‘mê waqad kuntu basîrâ

Il dira: «O mon Seigneur, pourquoi m'as-Tu amené aveugle alors qu'auparavant je voyais?»

He will say, "My Lord, why have you raised me blind while I was [once] seeing

۞ قَالَ كَذَٰلِكَ أَتَتْكَ ءَايَٰتُنَا فَنَسِيتَهَاۖ وَكَذَٰلِكَ اَ۬لْيَوْمَ تُنس۪ىٰۖ ﱻ

Qâla kadhâlika atatka âyâtunâ fanasîtahâ wakadhâlika lyawma tunsê

[Allah lui] dira: «De même que Nos Signes (enseignements) t'étaient venus et que tu les as oubliés, ainsi aujourd'hui tu es oublié»

[Allah] will say, "Thus did Our signs come to you, and you forgot them; and thus will you this Day be forgotten

وَكَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِے مَنَ اَسْرَفَ وَلَمْ يُومِنۢ بِـَٔايَٰتِ رَبِّهِۦۖ وَلَعَذَابُ اُ۬لَاخِرَةِ أَشَدُّ وَأَبْق۪ىٰٓۖ ﱼ

Wakadhâlika najzî mana srafa walam yûmim bi'âyâti rabbihî wala‘adhâbu lakhirati ashaddu wa'abqê

Ainsi sanctionnons-nous l'outrancier qui ne croit pas aux révélations de son Seigneur. Et certes, le châtiment de l'au-delà est plus sévère et plus durable

And thus do We recompense he who transgressed and did not believe in the signs of his Lord. And the punishment of the Hereafter is more severe and more enduring

أَفَلَمْ يَهْدِ لَهُمْ كَمَ اَهْلَكْنَا قَبْلَهُم مِّنَ اَ۬لْقُرُونِ يَمْشُونَ فِے مَسَٰكِنِهِمُۥٓۖ إِنَّ فِے ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَٰتٖ لِّأُوْلِے اِ۬لنُّه۪ىٰۖ ﱽ

Afalam yahdi lahum kama hlaknâ qablahum mina lqurûni yamshûna fî masâkinihimû inna fî dhâlika la'yâtil li'ulî nnuhê

Cela ne leur a-t-il pas servi de direction, que Nous ayons fait périr avant eux tant de générations dans les demeures desquelles ils marchent maintenant? Voilà bien là des leçons pour les doués d'intelligence

Then, has it not become clear to them how many generations We destroyed before them as they walk among their dwellings? Indeed in that are signs for those of intelligence

وَلَوْلَا كَلِمَةٞ سَبَقَتْ مِن رَّبِّكَ لَكَانَ لِزَاماٗ وَأَجَلٞ مُّسَمّىٗۖ ﱾ

Walawlâ kalimatun sabaqat mir rabbika lakâna lizâman wa'ajalum musammâ

N'eussent-été un décret préalable de ton Seigneur et aussi un terme déjà fixé, (leur châtiment) aurait été inévitable (et immédiat)

And if not for a word that preceded from your Lord, punishment would have been an obligation [due immediately], and [if not for] a specified term [decreed]

فَاصْبِرْ عَلَىٰ مَا يَقُولُونَۖ وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ قَبْلَ طُلُوعِ اِ۬لشَّمْسِ وَقَبْلَ غُرُوبِهَاۖ وَمِنَ اٰنَآءِےْ اِ۬ليْلِ فَسَبِّحْ وَأَطْرَافَ اَ۬لنَّه۪ارِ لَعَلَّكَ تَرْض۪ىٰۖ ﱿ

Fasbir ‘alâ mâ yaqûlûna wasabbih bihamdi rabbika qabla tulû‘i shshamsi waqabla ghurûbihâ wamina ânâ'iy llayli fasabbih wa'atrâfa nnahêri la‘allaka tardê

Supporte patiemment ce qu'ils disent et célèbre Sa louange, avant le lever du soleil, avant son coucher et pendant la nuit; et exalte Sa Gloire aux extrémités du jour. Peut-être auras-tu satisfaction

So be patient over what they say and exalt [Allah] with praise of your Lord before the rising of the sun and before its setting; and during periods of the night [exalt Him] and at the ends of the day, that you may be satisfied

وَلَا تَمُدَّنَّ عَيْنَيْكَ إِلَىٰ مَا مَتَّعْنَا بِهِۦٓ أَزْوَٰجاٗ مِّنْهُمْ زَهْرَةَ اَ۬لْحَيَوٰةِ اِ۬لدُّنْي۪ا ﲀ

Walâ tamuddanna ‘aynayka ilâ mâ matta‘nâ bihî azwâjam minhum zahrata lhayawâti ddunyê

Et ne tends point les yeux vers ce dont Nous avons donné jouissance temporaire à certains groupes d'entre eux, comme décor de la vie présente, afin de les éprouver par cela. Ce qu'Allah fournit (au Paradis) est meilleur et plus durable

And do not extend your eyes toward that by which We have given enjoyment to [some] categories of them, [its being but] the splendor of worldly life by which We test them. And the provision of your Lord is better and more enduring

لِنَفْتِنَهُمْ فِيهِۖ وَرِزْقُ رَبِّكَ خَيْرٞ وَأَبْق۪ىٰۖ ﲁ

Linaftinahum fîhi warizqu rabbika khayrun wa'abqê

وَامُرَ اَهْلَكَ بِالصَّلَوٰةِ وَاصْطَبِرْ عَلَيْهَاۖ لَا نَسْـَٔلُكَ رِزْقاٗۖ نَّحْنُ نَرْزُقُكَۖ وَالْعَٰقِبَةُ لِلتَّقْو۪ىٰۖ ﲂ

Wâmura hlaka bissalawâti wastabir ‘alayhâ lâ nas'aluka rizqan nahnu narzuquka wal‘âqibatu littaqwê

Et commande à ta famille la Salât, et fais-la avec persévérance. Nous ne te demandons point de nourriture: c'est à Nous de te nourrir. La bonne fin est réservée à la piété

And enjoin prayer upon your family [and people] and be steadfast therein. We ask you not for provision; We provide for you, and the [best] outcome is for [those of] righteousness

وَقَالُواْ لَوْلَا يَاتِينَا بِـَٔايَةٖ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦٓۖ أَوَلَمْ تَاتِهِم بَيِّنَةُ مَا فِے اِ۬لصُّحُفِ اِ۬لُاول۪ىٰۖ ﲃ

Waqâlû lawlâ yâtînâ bi'âyatim mir rabbihî awalam tâtihim bayyinatu mâ fî ssuhufi lûlê

Et ils disent: «Pourquoi ne nous apporte-t-il pas un miracle de son Seigneur? La Preuve (le Coran) de ce que contiennent les Ecritures anciennes ne leur est-elle pas venue

And they say, "Why does he not bring us a sign from his Lord?" Has there not come to them evidence of what was in the former scriptures

وَلَوَ اَنَّآ أَهْلَكْنَٰهُم بِعَذَابٖ مِّن قَبْلِهِۦ لَقَالُواْ رَبَّنَا لَوْلَآ أَرْسَلْتَ إِلَيْنَا رَسُولاٗ فَنَتَّبِعَ ءَايَٰتِكَ مِن قَبْلِ أَن نَّذِلَّ وَنَخْز۪ىٰۖ ﲄ

Walawa nnâ ahlaknâhum bi‘adhâbim min qablihî laqâlû rabbanâ lawlâ arsalta ilaynâ rasûlan fanattabi‘a âyâtika min qabli an nadhilla wanakhzê

Et si Nous les avions fait périr par un châtiment avant lui [Muhammad], ils auraient certainement dit: «O notre Seigneur, pourquoi ne nous as-Tu pas envoyé de Messager? Nous aurions alors suivi Tes enseignements avant d'avoir été humiliés et jetés dans l'ignominie»

And if We had destroyed them with a punishment before him, they would have said, "Our Lord, why did You not send to us a messenger so we could have followed Your verses before we were humiliated and disgraced

قُلْ كُلّٞ مُّتَرَبِّصٞ فَتَرَبَّصُواْۖ فَسَتَعْلَمُونَ مَنَ اَصْحَٰبُ اُ۬لصِّرَٰطِ اِ۬لسَّوِيِّ وَمَنِ اِ۪هْتَدَىۖ ﲅ

Qul kullum mutarabbisun fatarabbasû fasata‘lamûna mana shâbu ssirâti ssawiyyi wamani htadâ

Dis: «Chacun attend. Attendez donc! Vous saurez bientôt qui sont les gens du droit chemin et qui sont les bien-guidés»

Say, "Each [of us] is waiting; so wait. For you will know who are the companions of the sound path and who is guided
