سُورَةُ المَعَارج

70. Al-Ma‘ārij · Muhammad Hamidullah · Saheeh International

44 آيات

بِسْمِ اِ۬للَّهِ اِ۬لرَّحْمَٰنِ اِ۬لرَّحِيمِ Au nom d'Allah, le Tout Miséricordieux, le Très Miséricordieux. In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

1

سَالَ سَآئِلُۢ بِعَذَابٖ وَاقِعٖ ﰀ

Sâla sâ'ilum bi‘adhâbin wâqi‘

Un demandeur a réclamé un châtiment inéluctable

A supplicant asked for a punishment bound to happen

2

لِّلْكٰ۪فِرِينَ لَيْسَ لَهُۥ دَافِعٞ ﰁ

Lilkêfirîna laysa lahû dâfi‘

pour les mécréants, que nul ne pourrait repousser

To the disbelievers; of it there is no preventer

3

مِّنَ اَ۬للَّهِ ذِے اِ۬لْمَعَارِجِۖ ﰂ

Mina llâhi dhî lma‘ârij

et qui vient d'Allah, le Maître des voies d'ascension

[It is] from Allah, owner of the ways of ascent

4

تَعْرُجُ اُ۬لْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ وَالرُّوحُ إِلَيْهِ فِے يَوْمٖ كَانَ مِقْدَارُهُۥ خَمْسِينَ أَلْفَ سَنَةٖۖ ﰃ

Ta‘ruju lmalâ'ikatu warrûhu ilayhi fî yawmin kâna miqdâruhû khamsîna alfa sanah

Les Anges ainsi que l'Esprit montent vers Lui en un jour dont la durée est de cinquante mille ans

The angels and the Spirit will ascend to Him during a Day the extent of which is fifty thousand years

5

فَاصْبِرْ صَبْراٗ جَمِيلاًۖ ﰄ

Fasbir sabran jamîlâ

Supporte donc, d'une belle patience

So be patient with gracious patience

6

اِنَّهُمْ يَرَوْنَهُۥ بَعِيداٗ ﰅ

Innahum yarawnahû ba‘îdâ

Ils le (le châtiment) voient bien loin

Indeed, they see it [as] distant

7

وَنَر۪يٰهُ قَرِيباٗۖ ﰆ

Wanarêhu qarîbâ

alors que Nous le voyons bien proche

But We see it [as] near

8

يَوْمَ تَكُونُ اُ۬لسَّمَآءُ كَالْمُهْلِ ﰇ

Yawma takûnu ssamâ'u kalmuhl

le jour où le ciel sera comme du métal en fusion

On the Day the sky will be like murky oil

9

وَتَكُونُ اُ۬لْجِبَالُ كَالْعِهْنِ ﰈ

Watakûnu ljibâlu kal‘ihn

et les montagnes comme de la laine

And the mountains will be like wool

10

وَلَا يَسْـَٔلُ حَمِيمٌ حَمِيماٗ ﰉ

Walâ yas'alu hamîmun hamîmâ

où nul ami dévoué ne s'enquerra d'un ami

And no friend will ask [anything of] a friend

11

يُبَصَّرُونَهُمْۖ يَوَدُّ اُ۬لْمُجْرِمُ لَوْ يَفْتَدِے مِنْ عَذَابِ يَوْمَئِذِۢ بِبَنِيهِ ﰊ

Yubassarûnahum yawaddu lmujrimu law yaftadî min ‘adhâbi yawma'idhim bibanîh

bien qu'ils se voient l'un l'autre. Le criminel aimerait pouvoir se racheter du châtiment de ce jour, en livrant ses enfants

They will be shown each other. The criminal will wish that he could be ransomed from the punishment of that Day by his children

12

وَصَٰحِبَتِهِۦ وَأَخِيهِ ﰋ

Wasâhibatihî wa'akhîh

sa compagne, son frère

And his wife and his brother

13

وَفَصِيلَتِهِ اِ۬لتِے تُـْٔوِيهِ ﰌ

Wafasîlatihi llatî tu'wîh

même son clan qui lui donnait asile

And his nearest kindred who shelter him

14

وَمَن فِے اِ۬لَارْضِ جَمِيعاٗ ثُمَّ يُنجِيهِ ﰍ

Waman fî lardi jamî‘an thumma yunjîh

et tout ce qui est sur la terre, tout, qui pourrait le sauver

And whoever is on earth entirely [so] then it could save him

15

كَلَّآۖ إِنَّهَا لَظ۪ىٰ ﰎ

Kallâ innahâ lazê

Mais rien [ne le sauvera]. [L'Enfer] est un brasier

No! Indeed, it is the Flame [of Hell]

16

نَزَّاعَةٞ لِّلشَّو۪ىٰ ﰏ

Nazzâ‘atul lishshawê

arrachant brutalement la peau du crâne

A remover of exteriors

17

تَدْعُواْ مَنَ اَدْبَرَ وَتَوَلّ۪ىٰ ﰐ

Tad‘û mana dbara watawallê

Il appellera celui qui tournait le dos et s'en allait

It invites he who turned his back [on truth] and went away [from obedience]

18

وَجَمَعَ فَأَوْع۪ىٰٓۖ ﰑ

Wajama‘a fa'aw‘ê

amassait et thésaurisait

And collected [wealth] and hoarded

19

إِنَّ اَ۬لِانسَٰنَ خُلِقَ هَلُوعاً ﰒ

Inna linsâna khuliqa halû‘â

Oui, l'homme a été créé instable [très inquiet]

Indeed, mankind was created anxious

20

اِذَا مَسَّهُ اُ۬لشَّرُّ جَزُوعاٗ ﰓ

Idhâ massahu shsharru jazû‘â

quand le malheur le touche, il est abattu

When evil touches him, impatient

21

وَإِذَا مَسَّهُ اُ۬لْخَيْرُ مَنُوعاً ﰔ

Wa'idhâ massahu lkhayru manû‘â

et quand le bonheur le touche, il est grand refuseur

And when good touches him, withholding [of it]

22

اِلَّا اَ۬لْمُصَلِّينَ ﰕ

Illâ lmusallîn

Sauf ceux qui pratiquent la Salât

Except the observers of prayer

23

اَ۬لذِينَ هُمْ عَلَىٰ صَلَاتِهِمْ دَآئِمُونَۖ ﰖ

Alladhîna hum ‘alâ salâtihim dâ'imûn

qui sont assidus à leurs Salâts

Those who are constant in their prayer

24

وَالذِينَ فِےٓ أَمْوَٰلِهِمْ حَقّٞ مَّعْلُومٞ ﰗ

Walladhîna fî amwâlihim haqqum ma‘lûm

et sur les biens desquels il y a un droit bien déterminé [la Zakât]

And those within whose wealth is a known right

25

لِّلسَّآئِلِ وَالْمَحْرُومِۖ ﰘ

Lissâ'ili walmahrûm

pour le mendiant et le déshérité

For the petitioner and the deprived

26

وَالذِينَ يُصَدِّقُونَ بِيَوْمِ اِ۬لدِّينِۖ ﰙ

Walladhîna yusaddiqûna biyawmi ddîn

et qui déclarent véridique le Jour de la Rétribution

And those who believe in the Day of Recompense

27

وَالذِينَ هُم مِّنْ عَذَابِ رَبِّهِم مُّشْفِقُونَ ﰚ

Walladhîna hum min ‘adhâbi rabbihim mushfiqûn

et ceux qui craignent le châtiment de leur Seigneur

And those who are fearful of the punishment of their Lord

28

إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّهِمْ غَيْرُ مَامُونٖۖ ﰛ

Inna ‘adhâba rabbihim ghayru mâmûn

car vraiment, il n'y a nulle assurance contre le châtiment de leur Seigneur

Indeed, the punishment of their Lord is not that from which one is safe

29

وَالذِينَ هُمْ لِفُرُوجِهِمْ حَٰفِظُونَ ﰜ

Walladhîna hum lifurûjihim hâfizûn

et qui se maintiennent dans la chasteté

And those who guard their private parts

30

إِلَّا عَلَىٰٓ أَزْوَٰجِهِمُۥٓ أَوْ مَا مَلَكَتَ اَيْمَٰنُهُمْ فَإِنَّهُمْ غَيْرُ مَلُومِينَۖ ﰝ

Illâ ‘alâ azwâjihimû aw mâ malakata ymânuhum fa'innahum ghayru malûmîn

et n'ont de rapports qu'avec leurs épouses ou les esclaves qu'ils possèdent car dans ce cas, ils ne sont pas blâmables

Except from their wives or those their right hands possess, for indeed, they are not to be blamed

31

فَمَنِ اِ۪بْتَغ۪ىٰ وَرَآءَ ذَٰلِكَ فَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ اُ۬لْعَادُونَۖ ﰞ

Famani btaghê warâ'a dhâlika fa'ulâ'ika humu l‘âdûn

mais ceux qui cherchent [leur plaisir] en dehors de cela, sont des transgresseurs

But whoever seeks beyond that, then they are the transgressors

32

وَالذِينَ هُمْ لِأَمَٰنَٰتِهِمْ وَعَهْدِهِمْ رَٰعُونَۖ ﰟ

Walladhîna hum li'amânâtihim wa‘ahdihim râ‘ûn

et qui gardent les dépôts confiés à eux, et respectent leurs engagements scrupuleusement

And those who are to their trusts and promises attentive

33

وَالذِينَ هُم بِشَهَٰدَتِهِمْ قَآئِمُونَۖ ﰠ

Walladhîna hum bishahâdatihim qâ'imûn

et qui témoignent de la stricte vérité

And those who are in their testimonies upright

34

وَالذِينَ هُمْ عَلَىٰ صَلَاتِهِمْ يُحَافِظُونَ ﰡ

Walladhîna hum ‘alâ salâtihim yuhâfizûn

et qui sont réguliers dans leur Salât

And those who [carefully] maintain their prayer

35

أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ فِے جَنَّٰتٖ مُّكْرَمُونَۖ ﰢ

Ulâ'ika fî jannâtim mukramûn

Ceux-là seront honorés dans des Jardins

They will be in gardens, honored

36

فَمَالِ اِ۬لذِينَ كَفَرُواْ قِبَلَكَ مُهْطِعِينَ ﰣ

Famâli lladhîna kafarû qibalaka muhti‘în

Qu'ont donc, ceux qui ont mécru, à courir vers toi, le cou tendu

So what is [the matter] with those who disbelieve, hastening [from] before you, [O Muhammad]

37

عَنِ اِ۬لْيَمِينِ وَعَنِ اِ۬لشِّمَالِ عِزِينَۖ ﰤ

‘ani lyamîni wa‘ani shshimâli ‘izîn

de droite et de gauche, [venant] par bandes

[To sit] on [your] right and [your] left in separate groups

38

أَيَطْمَعُ كُلُّ اُ۪مْرِےٕٖ مِّنْهُمُۥٓ أَنْ يُّدْخَلَ جَنَّةَ نَعِيمٖ ﰥ

Ayatma‘u kullu mrî'im minhumû ay yudkhala jannata na‘îm

Chacun d'eux convoite-t-il qu'on le laisse entrer au Jardin des délices

Does every person among them aspire to enter a garden of pleasure

39

كَلَّآۖ إِنَّا خَلَقْنَٰهُم مِّمَّا يَعْلَمُونَۖ ﰦ

Kallâ innâ khalaqnâhum mimmâ ya‘lamûn

Mais non! Nous les avons créés de ce qu'ils savent

No! Indeed, We have created them from that which they know

40

۞ فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِرَبِّ اِ۬لْمَشَٰرِقِ وَالْمَغَٰرِبِ إِنَّا لَقَٰدِرُونَ ﰧ

Falâ uqsimu birabbi lmashâriqi walmaghâribi innâ laqâdirûn

Eh Non!... Je jure par le Seigneur des Levants et des Couchants que Nous sommes Capable

So I swear by the Lord of [all] risings and settings that indeed We are able

41

عَلَىٰٓ أَن نُّبَدِّلَ خَيْراٗ مِّنْهُمْ وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمَسْبُوقِينَۖ ﰨ

‘alâ an nubaddila khayram minhum wamâ nahnu bimasbûqîn

de les remplacer par de meilleurs qu'eux, et nul ne peut nous en empêcher

To replace them with better than them; and We are not to be outdone

42

فَذَرْهُمْ يَخُوضُواْ وَيَلْعَبُواْ حَتَّىٰ يُلَٰقُواْ يَوْمَهُمُ اُ۬لذِے يُوعَدُونَ ﰩ

Fadharhum yakhûdû wayal‘abû hattâ yulâqû yawmahumu lladhî yû‘adûn

Laisse-les donc s'enfoncer (dans leur mécréance) et se divertir jusqu'à ce qu'ils rencontrent leur jour dont on les menaçait

So leave them to converse vainly and amuse themselves until they meet their Day which they are promised

43

يَوْمَ يَخْرُجُونَ مِنَ اَ۬لَاجْدَاثِ سِرَاعاٗ كَأَنَّهُمُۥٓ إِلَىٰ نَصْبٖ يُوفِضُونَ ﰪ

Yawma yakhrujûna mina lajdâthi sirâ‘an ka'annahumû ilâ nasbin yûfidûn

le jour où ils sortiront des tombes, rapides comme s'ils couraient vers des pierres dressées

The Day they will emerge from the graves rapidly as if they were, toward an erected idol, hastening

44

خَٰشِعَةً اَبْصَٰرُهُمْ تَرْهَقُهُمْ ذِلَّةٞۖ ذَٰلِكَ اَ۬لْيَوْمُ اُ۬لذِے كَانُواْ يُوعَدُونَۖ ﰫ

Khâshi‘atana bsâruhum tarhaquhum dhillatun dhâlika lyawmu lladhî kânû yû‘adûn

leurs yeux seront abaissés, l'avilissement les couvrira. C'est cela le jour dont on les menaçait

Their eyes humbled, humiliation will cover them. That is the Day which they had been promised
