إِذَا اَ۬لسَّمَآءُ اُ۪نشَقَّتْ ﰀ

Idhâ ssamâ'u nshaqqat

Quand le ciel se déchirera

When the sky has split [open]

وَأَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْ ﰁ

Wa'adhinat lirabbihâ wahuqqat

et obéira à son Seigneur - et fera ce qu'il doit faire

And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so]

وَإِذَا اَ۬لَارْضُ مُدَّتْ ﰂ

Wa'idhâ lardu muddat

et que la terre sera nivelée

And when the earth has been extended

وَأَلْقَتْ مَا فِيهَا وَتَخَلَّتْ ﰃ

Wa'alqat mâ fîhâ watakhallat

et qu'elle rejettera ce qui est en son sein (les morts) et se videra

And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it]

وَأَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْۖ ﰄ

Wa'adhinat lirabbihâ wahuqqat

et qu'elle obéira à son Seigneur - et fera ce qu'elle doit faire

And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so]

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا اَ۬لِانسَٰنُ إِنَّكَ كَادِحٌ اِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ كَدْحاٗ فَمُلَٰقِيهِۖ ﰅ

Yâ'ayyuhâ linsânu innaka kâdihuni lâ rabbika kadhan famulâqîh

O homme! Toi qui t'efforces vers ton Seigneur sans relâche, tu Le rencontreras alors

O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it

فَأَمَّا مَنُ ا۟وتِيَ كِتَٰبَهُۥ بِيَمِينِهِۦ ﰆ

Fa'ammâ manu ûtiya kitâbahû biyamînihî

Celui qui recevra son livre en sa main droite

Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand

فَسَوْفَ يُحَاسَبُ حِسَاباٗ يَسِيراٗ ﰇ

Fasawfa yuhâsabu hisâban yasîrâ

sera soumis à un jugement facile

He will be judged with an easy account

وَيَنقَلِبُ إِلَىٰٓ أَهْلِهِۦ مَسْرُوراٗۖ ﰈ

Wayanqalibu ilâ ahlihî masrûrâ

et retournera réjoui auprès de sa famille

And return to his people in happiness

وَأَمَّا مَنُ ا۟وتِيَ كِتَٰبَهُۥ وَرَآءَ ظَهْرِهِۦ ﰉ

Wa'ammâ manu ûtiya kitâbahû warâ'a zahrihî

Quant à celui qui recevra son livre derrière son dos

But as for he who is given his record behind his back

فَسَوْفَ يَدْعُواْ ثُبُوراٗ ﰊ

Fasawfa yad‘û thubûrâ

il invoquera la destruction sur lui-même

He will cry out for destruction

وَيُصَلَّىٰ سَعِيراًۖ ﰋ

Wayusallâ sa‘îrâ

et il brûlera dans un feu ardent

And [enter to] burn in a Blaze

اِنَّهُۥ كَانَ فِےٓ أَهْلِهِۦ مَسْرُوراًۖ ﰌ

Innahû kâna fî ahlihî masrûrâ

Car il était tout joyeux parmi les siens

Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness

اِنَّهُۥ ظَنَّ أَن لَّنْ يَّحُورَ ﰍ

Innahû zanna al lay yahûr

et il pensait que jamais il ne ressusciterait

Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]

بَل۪ىٰٓۖ إِنَّ رَبَّهُۥ كَانَ بِهِۦ بَصِيراٗۖ ﰎ

Balê inna rabbahû kâna bihî basîrâ

Mais si! Certes, son Seigneur l'observait parfaitement

But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing

۞ فَلَآ أُقْسِمُ بِالشَّفَقِ ﰏ

Falâ uqsimu bishshafaq

Non!... Je jure par le crépuscule

So I swear by the twilight glow

وَاليْلِ وَمَا وَسَقَ ﰐ

Wallayli wamâ wasaq

et par la nuit et ce qu'elle enveloppe

And [by] the night and what it envelops

وَالْقَمَرِ إِذَا اَ۪تَّسَقَ ﰑ

Walqamari idhâ ttasaq

et par la lune quand elle devient pleine lune

And [by] the moon when it becomes full

لَتَرْكَبُنَّ طَبَقاً عَن طَبَقٖۖ ﰒ

Latarkabunna tabaqan ‘an tabaq

Vous passerez, certes, par des états successifs

[That] you will surely experience state after state

فَمَا لَهُمْ لَا يُومِنُونَ ﰓ

Famâ lahum lâ yûminûn

Qu'ont-ils à ne pas croire

So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe

وَإِذَا قُرِۓَ عَلَيْهِمُ اُ۬لْقُرْءَانُ لَا يَسْجُدُونَۖ۩ ﰔ

Wa'idhâ qurî'a ‘alayhimu lqur'ânu lâ yasjudûn

et à ne pas se prosterner quand le Coran leur est lu

And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]

بَلِ اِ۬لذِينَ كَفَرُواْ يُكَذِّبُونَ ﰕ

Bali lladhîna kafarû yukadhdhibûn

Mais ceux qui ne croient pas, le traitent plutôt de mensonge

But those who have disbelieved deny

وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يُوعُونَۖ ﰖ

Wallâhu a‘lamu bimâ yû‘ûn

Or, Allah sait bien ce qu'ils dissimulent

And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves

فَبَشِّرْهُم بِعَذَابٍ اَلِيمٍۖ ﰗ

Fabashshirhum bi‘adhâbina lîm

Annonce-leur donc un châtiment douloureux

So give them tidings of a painful punishment

اِلَّا اَ۬لذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ اُ۬لصَّٰلِحَٰتِ لَهُمُۥٓ أَجْرٌ غَيْرُ مَمْنُونٖۖ ﰘ

Illâ lladhîna âmanû wa‘amilû ssâlihâti lahumû ajrun ghayru mamnûn

Sauf ceux qui croient et accomplissent les bonnes œuvres: à eux une récompense jamais interrompue

Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted
