وَاليْلِ إِذَا يَغْش۪ىٰ ﰀ

Wallayli idhâ yaghshê

Par la nuit quand elle enveloppe tout

By the night when it covers

وَالنَّه۪ارِ إِذَا تَجَلّ۪ىٰ ﰁ

Wannahêri idhâ tajallê

Par le jour quand il éclaire

And [by] the day when it appears

وَمَا خَلَقَ اَ۬لذَّكَرَ وَالُانث۪ىٰٓ ﰂ

Wamâ khalaqa dhdhakara walunthê

Et par ce qu'Il a créé, mâle et femelle

And [by] He who created the male and female

إِنَّ سَعْيَكُمْ لَشَتّ۪ىٰۖ ﰃ

Inna sa‘yakum lashattê

Vos efforts sont divergents

Indeed, your efforts are diverse

فَأَمَّا مَنَ اَعْط۪ىٰ وَاتَّق۪ىٰ ﰄ

Fa'ammâ mana ‘tê wattaqê

Celui qui donne et craint (Allah)

As for he who gives and fears Allah

وَصَدَّقَ بِالْحُسْن۪ىٰ ﰅ

Wasaddaqa bilhusnê

et déclare véridique la plus belle récompense

And believes in the best [reward]

فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُۥ لِلْيُسْر۪ىٰۖ ﰆ

Fasanuyassiruhû lilyusrê

Nous lui faciliterons la voie au plus grand bonheur

We will ease him toward ease

وَأَمَّا مَنۢ بَخِلَ وَاسْتَغْن۪ىٰ ﰇ

Wa'ammâ mam bakhila wastaghnê

Et quant à celui qui est avare, se dispense (de l'adoration d'Allah)

But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need

وَكَذَّبَ بِالْحُسْن۪ىٰ ﰈ

Wakadhdhaba bilhusnê

et traite de mensonge la plus belle récompense

And denies the best [reward]

فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُۥ لِلْعُسْر۪ىٰۖ ﰉ

Fasanuyassiruhû lil‘usrê

Nous lui faciliterons la voie à la plus grande difficulté

We will ease him toward difficulty

وَمَا يُغْنِے عَنْهُ مَالُهُۥٓ إِذَا تَرَدّ۪ىٰٓۖ ﰊ

Wamâ yughnî ‘anhu mâluhû idhâ taraddê

et à rien ne lui serviront ses richesses quand il sera jeté (au Feu)

And what will his wealth avail him when he falls

إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا لَلْهُد۪ىٰ ﰋ

Inna ‘alaynâ llâhudê

C'est à Nous, certes, de guider

Indeed, [incumbent] upon Us is guidance

وَإِنَّ لَنَا لَلَاخِرَةَ وَالُاول۪ىٰۖ ﰌ

Wa'inna lanâ lalâkhirata walûlê

à Nous appartient, certes, la vie dernière et la vie présente

And indeed, to Us belongs the Hereafter and the first [life]

فَأَنذَرْتُكُمْ نَاراٗ تَلَظّ۪ىٰ ﰍ

Fa'andhartukum nâran talazzê

Je vous ai donc avertis d'un Feu qui flambe

So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing

لَا يَصْلَيٰهَآ إِلَّا اَ۬لَاشْقَي ﰎ

Lâ yaslâhâ illâ lashqay

où ne brûlera que le damné

None will [enter to] burn therein except the most wretched one

اَ۬لذِے كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلّ۪ىٰۖ ﰏ

Alladhî kadhdhaba watawallê

qui dément et tourne le dos

Who had denied and turned away

وَسَيُجَنَّبُهَا اَ۬لَاتْقَي ﰐ

Wasayujannabuhâ latqay

alors qu'en sera écarté le pieux

But the righteous one will avoid it

اَ۬لذِے يُوتِے مَالَهُۥ يَتَزَكّ۪ىٰۖ ﰑ

Alladhî yûtî mâlahû yatazakkê

qui donne ses biens pour se purifier

[He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself

وَمَا لِأَحَدٍ عِندَهُۥ مِن نِّعْمَةٖ تُجْز۪ىٰٓ ﰒ

Wamâ li'ahadin ‘indahû min ni‘matin tujzê

et auprès de qui personne ne profite d'un bienfait intéressé

And not [giving] for anyone who has [done him] a favor to be rewarded

إِلَّا اَ۪بْتِغَآءَ وَجْهِ رَبِّهِ اِ۬لَاعْل۪ىٰۖ ﰓ

Illâ btighâ'a wajhi rabbihi la‘lê

mais seulement pour la recherche de La Face de son Seigneur le Très Haut

But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High

وَلَسَوْفَ يَرْض۪ىٰۖ ﰔ

Walasawfa yardê

Et certes, il sera bientôt satisfait

And he is going to be satisfied
