أَلَٓر۪ۖ كِتَٰبٌ اَنزَلْنَٰهُ إِلَيْكَ لِتُخْرِجَ اَ۬لنَّاسَ مِنَ اَ۬لظُّلُمَٰتِ إِلَى اَ۬لنُّورِ ﰀ

Alif lâm râ kitâbuna nzalnâhu ilayka litukhrija nnâsa mina zzulumâti ilâ nnûr

Alif, Lâm, Râ. (Voici) un livre que nous avons fait descendre sur toi, afin que - par la permission de leur Seigneur - tu fasses sortir les gens des ténèbres vers la lumière, sur la voie du Tout Puissant, du Digne de louange

Alif, Lam, Ra. [This is] a Book which We have revealed to you, [O Muhammad], that you might bring mankind out of darknesses into the light by permission of their Lord - to the path of the Exalted in Might, the Praiseworthy

بِإِذْنِ رَبِّهِمُۥٓ إِلَىٰ صِرَٰطِ اِ۬لْعَزِيزِ اِ۬لْحَمِيدِۖ ﰁ

Bi'idhni rabbihimû ilâ sirâti l‘azîzi lhamîd

اِ۬للَّهُ اُ۬لذِے لَهُۥ مَا فِے اِ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَمَا فِے اِ۬لَارْضِۖ وَوَيْلٞ لِّلْكٰ۪فِرِينَ مِنْ عَذَابٖ شَدِيدٍۖ ﰂ

Allâhu lladhî lahû mâ fî ssamâwâti wamâ fî lardi wawaylul lilkêfirîna min ‘adhâbin shadîd

Allah, à qui appartient tout ce qui est dans les cieux et sur la terre. Et malheur aux mécréants, pour un dur châtiment [qu'ils subiront]

Allah, to whom belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. And woe to the disbelievers from a severe punishment

اِ۬لذِينَ يَسْتَحِبُّونَ اَ۬لْحَيَوٰةَ اَ۬لدُّنْي۪ا عَلَى اَ۬لَاخِرَةِ وَيَصُدُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ اِ۬للَّهِ وَيَبْغُونَهَا عِوَجاً ا۟وْلَٰٓئِكَ فِے ضَلَٰلِۢ بَعِيدٖۖ ﰃ

Alladhîna yastahibbûna lhayawâta ddunyê ‘alâ lakhirati wayasuddûna ‘an sabîli llâhi wayabghûnahâ ‘iwajan ulâ'ika fî dalâlim ba‘îd

Ceux qui préfèrent la vie d'ici-bas à l'au-delà, obstruent [aux gens] le chemin d'Allah et cherchent à le rendre tortueux, ceux-là sont loin dans l'égarement

The ones who prefer the worldly life over the Hereafter and avert [people] from the way of Allah, seeking to make it (seem) deviant. Those are in extreme error

وَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَا مِن رَّسُولٍ اِلَّا بِلِسَانِ قَوْمِهِۦ لِيُبَيِّنَ لَهُمْۖ فَيُضِلُّ اُ۬للَّهُ مَنْ يَّشَآءُ وَيَهْدِے مَنْ يَّشَآءُۖ وَهُوَ اَ۬لْعَزِيزُ اُ۬لْحَكِيمُۖ ﰄ

Wamâ arsalnâ mir rasûlini llâ bilisâni qawmihî liyubayyina lahum fayudillu llâhu may yashâ'u wayahdî may yashâ'u wahuwa l‘azîzu lhakîm

Et Nous n'avons envoyé de Messager qu'avec la langue de son peuple, afin de les éclairer. Allah égare qui Il veut et guide qui Il veut. Et, c'est Lui le Tout Puissant, le Sage

And We did not send any messenger except [speaking] in the language of his people to state clearly for them, and Allah sends astray [thereby] whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise

وَلَقَدَ اَرْسَلْنَا مُوس۪ىٰ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَآ أَنَ اَخْرِجْ قَوْمَكَ مِنَ اَ۬لظُّلُمَٰتِ إِلَى اَ۬لنُّورِ ﰅ

Walaqada rsalnâ mûsê bi'âyâtinâ ana khrij qawmaka mina zzulumâti ilâ nnûr

Nous avons certes, envoyé Moïse avec Nos miracles [en lui disant]: «Fais sortir ton peuple des ténèbres vers la lumière, et rappelle-leur les jours d'Allah». [Ses bienfaits]. Dans tout cela il y a des signes pour tout homme plein d'endurance et de reconnaissance

And We certainly sent Moses with Our signs, [saying], "Bring out your people from darknesses into the light and remind them of the days of Allah." Indeed in that are signs for everyone patient and grateful

وَذَكِّرْهُم بِأَييَّٰمِ اِ۬للَّهِۖ إِنَّ فِے ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَٰتٖ لِّكُلِّ صَبّ۪ارٖ شَكُورٖۖ ﰆ

Wadhakkirhum bi'ayyâmi llâhi inna fî dhâlika la'yâtil likulli sabbêrin shakûr

وَإِذْ قَالَ مُوس۪ىٰ لِقَوْمِهِ اِ۟ذْكُرُواْ نِعْمَةَ اَ۬للَّهِ عَلَيْكُمُۥٓ إِذَ اَنج۪يٰكُم مِّنَ اٰلِ فِرْعَوْنَ يَسُومُونَكُمْ سُوٓءَ اَ۬لْعَذَابِ وَيُذَبِّحُونَ أَبْنَآءَكُمْ وَيَسْتَحْيُونَ نِسَآءَكُمْۖ وَفِے ذَٰلِكُم بَلَآءٞ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ عَظِيمٞۖ ﰇ

Wa'idh qâla mûsê liqawmihi dhkurû ni‘mata llâhi ‘alaykumû idha njêkum mina âli fir‘awna yasûmûnakum sû'a l‘adhâbi wayudhabbihûna abnâ'akum wayastahyûna nisâ'akum wafî dhâlikum balâ'um mir rabbikum ‘azîm

(Rappelle-toi) quand Moïse dit à son peuple: «Rappelez-vous le bienfait d'Allah sur vous quand Il vous sauva des gens de Pharaon qui vous infligeaient le pire châtiment. Ils massacraient vos fils et laissaient en vie vos filles. Il y avait là une dure épreuve de la part de votre Seigneur»

And [recall, O Children of Israel], when Moses said to His people, "Remember the favor of Allah upon you when He saved you from the people of Pharaoh, who were afflicting you with the worst torment and were slaughtering your [newborn] sons and keeping your females alive. And in that was a great trial from your Lord

وَإِذْ تَأَذَّنَ رَبُّكُمْ لَئِن شَكَرْتُمْ لَأَزِيدَنَّكُمْ وَلَئِن كَفَرْتُمُۥٓ إِنَّ عَذَابِے لَشَدِيدٞۖ ﰈ

Wa'idh ta'adhdhana rabbukum la'in shakartum la'azîdannakum wala'in kafartumû inna ‘adhâbî lashadîd

Et lorsque votre Seigneur proclama: «Si vous êtes reconnaissants, très certainement J'augmenterai [Mes bienfaits] pour vous. Mais si vous êtes ingrats, Mon châtiment sera terrible»

And [remember] when your Lord proclaimed, 'If you are grateful, I will surely increase you [in favor]; but if you deny, indeed, My punishment is severe

وَقَالَ مُوس۪ىٰٓ إِن تَكْفُرُوٓاْ أَنتُمْ وَمَن فِے اِ۬لَارْضِ جَمِيعاٗ فَإِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ لَغَنِيٌّ حَمِيدٌۖ ﰉ

Waqâla mûsê in takfurû antum waman fî lardi jamî‘an fa'inna llâha laghaniyyun hamîd

Et Moïse dit: «Si vous êtes ingrats, vous ainsi que tous ceux qui sont sur terre, [sachez] qu'Allah Se suffit à Lui-même et qu'Il est digne de louange

And Moses said, "If you should disbelieve, you and whoever is on the earth entirely - indeed, Allah is Free of need and Praiseworthy

اَلَمْ يَاتِكُمْ نَبَؤُاْ اُ۬لذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ قَوْمِ نُوحٖ وَعَادٖ وَثَمُودَ ﰊ

Alam yâtikum naba'u lladhîna min qablikum qawmi nûhin wa‘âdin wathamûd

Ne vous est-il pas parvenu le récit de ceux d'avant vous, du peuple de Noé, des `Aad, des Thamud et de ceux qui vécurent après eux, et que seul Allah connaît? Leurs messagers vinrent à eux avec des preuves, mais ils dirent, ramenant leurs mains à leurs bouches: «Nous ne croyons pas [au message] avec lequel vous avez été envoyés et nous sommes, au sujet de ce à quoi vous nous appelez, dans un doute vraiment troublant»

Has there not reached you the news of those before you - the people of Noah and 'Aad and Thamud and those after them? No one knows them but Allah. Their messengers brought them clear proofs, but they returned their hands to their mouths and said, "Indeed, we disbelieve in that with which you have been sent, and indeed we are, about that to which you invite us, in disquieting doubt

وَالذِينَ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِمْۖ لَا يَعْلَمُهُمُۥٓ إِلَّا اَ۬للَّهُۖ جَآءَتْهُمْ رُسُلُهُم بِالْبَيِّنَٰتِ فَرَدُّوٓاْ أَيْدِيَهُمْ فِےٓ أَفْوَٰهِهِمْ وَقَالُوٓاْ إِنَّا كَفَرْنَا بِمَآ أُرْسِلْتُم بِهِۦ وَإِنَّا لَفِے شَكّٖ مِّمَّا تَدْعُونَنَآ إِلَيْهِ مُرِيبٖۖ ﰋ

Walladhîna mim ba‘dihim lâ ya‘lamuhumû illâ llâhu jâ'athum rusuluhum bilbayyinâti faraddû aydiyahum fî afwâhihim waqâlû innâ kafarnâ bimâ ursiltum bihî wa'innâ lafî shakkim mimmâ tad‘ûnanâ ilayhi murîb

۞ قَالَتْ رُسُلُهُمُۥٓ أَفِے اِ۬للَّهِ شَكّٞ فَاطِرِ اِ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالَارْضِ يَدْعُوكُمْ لِيَغْفِرَ لَكُم مِّن ذُنُوبِكُمْ وَيُوَ۬خِّرَكُمُۥٓ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٖ مُّسَمّىٗۖ قَالُوٓاْ إِنَ اَنتُمُۥٓ إِلَّا بَشَرٞ مِّثْلُنَا تُرِيدُونَ أَن تَصُدُّونَا عَمَّا كَانَ يَعْبُدُ ءَابَآؤُنَا فَاتُونَا بِسُلْطَٰنٖ مُّبِينٖۖ ﰌ

Qâlat rusuluhumû afî llâhi shakkun fâtiri ssamâwâti walardi yad‘ûkum liyaghfira lakum min dhunûbikum wayuwakhkhirakumû ilâ ajalim musamman qâlû ina ntumû illâ basharum mithlunâ turîdûna an tasuddûnâ ‘ammâ kâna ya‘budu âbâ'unâ fâtûnâ bisultânim mubîn

Leurs messagers dirent: «Y a-t-il un doute au sujet d'Allah, Créateur des cieux et de la terre, qui vous appelle pour vous pardonner une partie de vos péchés et vous donner un délai jusqu'à un terme fixé?» [Les mécréants] répondirent: «Vous n'êtes que des hommes comme nous. Vous voulez nous empêcher de ce que nos ancêtres adoraient. Apportez-nous donc une preuve évidente»

Their messengers said, "Can there be doubt about Allah, Creator of the heavens and earth? He invites you that He may forgive you of your sins, and He delays your death for a specified term." They said, "You are not but men like us who wish to avert us from what our fathers were worshipping. So bring us a clear authority

قَالَتْ لَهُمْ رُسُلُهُمُۥٓ إِن نَّحْنُ إِلَّا بَشَرٞ مِّثْلُكُمْ وَلَٰكِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ يَمُنُّ عَلَىٰ مَنْ يَّشَآءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِۦۖ وَمَا كَانَ لَنَآ أَن نَّاتِيَكُم بِسُلْطَٰنٍ اِلَّا بِإِذْنِ اِ۬للَّهِۖ وَعَلَى اَ۬للَّهِ فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ اِ۬لْمُومِنُونَۖ ﰍ

Qâlat lahum rusuluhumû in nahnu illâ basharum mithlukum walâkinna llâha yamunnu ‘alâ may yashâ'u min ‘ibâdihî wamâ kâna lanâ an nâtiyakum bisultânini llâ bi'idhni llâhi wa‘alâ llâhi falyatawakkali lmûminûn

Leurs messagers leur dirent: «Certes, nous ne sommes que des humains comme vous. Mais Allah favorise qui Il veut parmi Ses serviteurs. Il ne nous appartient de vous apporter quelque preuve, que par la permission d'Allah. Et c'est en Allah que les croyants doivent placer leur confiance

Their messengers said to them, "We are only men like you, but Allah confers favor upon whom He wills of His servants. It has never been for us to bring you evidence except by permission of Allah. And upon Allah let the believers rely

وَمَا لَنَآ أَلَّا نَتَوَكَّلَ عَلَى اَ۬للَّهِ وَقَدْ هَد۪يٰنَا سُبُلَنَاۖ وَلَنَصْبِرَنَّ عَلَىٰ مَآ ءَاذَيْتُمُونَاۖ وَعَلَى اَ۬للَّهِ فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ اِ۬لْمُتَوَكِّلُونَۖ ﰎ

Wamâ lanâ allâ natawakkala ‘alâ llâhi waqad hadênâ subulanâ walanasbiranna ‘alâ mâ âdhaytumûnâ wa‘alâ llâhi falyatawakkali lmutawakkilûn

Et qu'aurions-nous à ne pas placer notre confiance en Allah, alors qu'Il nous a guidés sur les sentiers [que nous devions suivre]? Nous endurerons sûrement la persécution que vous nous infligez. Et ceux qui ont confiance en Allah s'en remettent entièrement à Lui.»

And why should we not rely upon Allah while He has guided us to our [good] ways. And we will surely be patient against whatever harm you should cause us. And upon Allah let those who would rely [indeed] rely

وَقَالَ اَ۬لذِينَ كَفَرُواْ لِرُسُلِهِمْ لَنُخْرِجَنَّكُم مِّنَ اَرْضِنَآ أَوْ لَتَعُودُنَّ فِے مِلَّتِنَاۖ فَأَوْح۪ىٰٓ إِلَيْهِمْ رَبُّهُمْ لَنُهْلِكَنَّ اَ۬لظَّٰلِمِينَ ﰏ

Waqâla lladhîna kafarû lirusulihim lanukhrijannakum mina rdinâ aw lata‘ûdunna fî millatinâ fa'awhê ilayhim rabbuhum lanuhlikanna zzâlimîn

Et ceux qui ont mécru dirent à leurs messagers: «Nous vous expulserons certainement de notre territoire, à moins que vous ne réintégriez notre religion!» Alors, leur Seigneur leur révéla: «Assurément Nous anéantirons les injustes

And those who disbelieved said to their messengers, "We will surely drive you out of our land, or you must return to our religion." So their Lord inspired to them, "We will surely destroy the wrongdoers

وَلَنُسْكِنَنَّكُمُ اُ۬لَارْضَ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِمْۖ ذَٰلِكَ لِمَنْ خَافَ مَقَامِے وَخَافَ وَعِيدِۦۖ ﰐ

Walanuskinannakumu larda mim ba‘dihim dhâlika liman khâfa maqâmî wakhâfa wa‘îdî

et vous établirons dans le pays après eux. Cela est pour celui qui craint Ma présence et craint Ma menace»

And We will surely cause you to dwell in the land after them. That is for he who fears My position and fears My threat

وَاسْتَفْتَحُواْۖ وَخَابَ كُلُّ جَبّ۪ارٍ عَنِيدٖ ﰑ

Wastaftahû wakhâba kullu jabbêrin ‘anîd

Et ils demandèrent [à Allah] la victoire. Et tout tyran insolent fut déçu

And they requested victory from Allah, and disappointed, [therefore], was every obstinate tyrant

مِّنْ وَّرَآئِهِۦ جَهَنَّمُ وَيُسْق۪ىٰ مِن مَّآءٖ صَدِيدٖ ﰒ

Miw warâ'ihî jahannamu wayusqê mim mâ'in sadîd

L'Enfer est sa destination et il sera abreuvé d'une eau purulente

Before him is Hell, and he will be given a drink of purulent water

يَتَجَرَّعُهُۥ وَلَا يَكَادُ يُسِيغُهُۥ وَيَاتِيهِ اِ۬لْمَوْتُ مِن كُلِّ مَكَانٖ وَمَا هُوَ بِمَيِّتٖ وَمِنْ وَّرَآئِهِۦ عَذَابٌ غَلِيظٞۖ ﰓ

Yatajarra‘uhû walâ yakâdu yusîghuhû wayâtîhi lmawtu min kulli makânin wamâ huwa bimayyitin wamiw warâ'ihî ‘adhâbun ghalîz

qu'il tentera d'avaler à petites gorgées. Mais c'est à peine s'il peut l'avaler. La mort lui viendra de toutes parts, mais il ne mourra pas; et il aura un châtiment terrible

He will gulp it but will hardly [be able to] swallow it. And death will come to him from everywhere, but he is not to die. And before him is a massive punishment

مَّثَلُ اُ۬لذِينَ كَفَرُواْ بِرَبِّهِمُۥٓۖ أَعْمَٰلُهُمْ كَرَمَادٍ اِ۪شْتَدَّتْ بِهِ اِ۬لرِّيَٰحُ فِے يَوْمٍ عَاصِفٖ لَّا يَقْدِرُونَ مِمَّا كَسَبُواْ عَلَىٰ شَےْءٖۖ ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ اَ۬لضَّلَٰلُ اُ۬لْبَعِيدُۖ ﰔ

Mathalu lladhîna kafarû birabbihimû a‘mâluhum karamâdini shtaddat bihi rriyâhu fî yawmin ‘âsifil lâ yaqdirûna mimmâ kasabû ‘alâ shay'in dhâlika huwa ddalâlu lba‘îd

Les œuvres de ceux qui ont mécru en leur Seigneur sont comparables à de la cendre violemment frappée par le vent, dans un jour de tempête. Ils ne tireront aucun profit de ce qu'ils ont acquis. C'est cela l'égarement profond

The example of those who disbelieve in their Lord is [that] their deeds are like ashes which the wind blows forcefully on a stormy day; they are unable [to keep] from what they earned a [single] thing. That is what is extreme error

۞ أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ خَلَقَ اَ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالَارْضَ بِالْحَقِّۖ إِنْ يَّشَأْ يُذْهِبْكُمْ وَيَاتِ بِخَلْقٖ جَدِيدٖۖ وَمَا ذَٰلِكَ عَلَى اَ۬للَّهِ بِعَزِيزٖۖ ﰕ

Alam tara anna llâha khalaqa ssamâwâti walarda bilhaqqi iy yasha' yudhhibkum wayâti bikhalqin jadîdin wamâ dhâlika ‘alâ llâhi bi‘azîz

Ne vois-tu pas qu'Allah a créé les cieux et la terre pour une juste raison? S'Il voulait, Il vous ferait disparaître et ferait venir de nouvelles créatures et cela n'est nullement difficile pour Allah

Have you not seen that Allah created the heavens and the earth in truth? If He wills, He can do away with you and produce a new creation And that is not difficult for Allah

وَبَرَزُواْ لِلهِ جَمِيعاٗ فَقَالَ اَ۬لضُّعَفَٰٓؤُاْ لِلذِينَ اَ۪سْتَكْبَرُوٓاْ إِنَّا كُنَّا لَكُمْ تَبَعاٗ فَهَلَ اَنتُم مُّغْنُونَ عَنَّا مِنْ عَذَابِ اِ۬للَّهِ مِن شَےْءٖۖ قَالُواْ لَوْ هَد۪يٰنَا اَ۬للَّهُ لَهَدَيْنَٰكُمْۖ سَوَآءٌ عَلَيْنَآ أَجَزِعْنَآ أَمْ صَبَرْنَا مَا لَنَا مِن مَّحِيصٖۖ ﰖ

Wabarazû lillâhi jamî‘an faqâla ddu‘afâ'u lilladhîna stakbarû innâ kunnâ lakum taba‘an fahala ntum mughnûna ‘annâ min ‘adhâbi llâhi min shay'in qâlû law hadênâ llâhu lahadaynâkum sawâ'un ‘alaynâ ajazi‘nâ am sabarnâ mâ lanâ mim mahîs

Et tous comparaîtront devant Allah. Puis, les faibles diront à ceux qui s'enflaient d'orgueil: «Nous étions bien vos suiveurs. Pouvez-vous nous être de quelque utilité contre le châtiment d'Allah?» - Alors, les autres diront: «Si Allah nous avait guidés nous vous aurions certainement guidés. Il est indifférent pour nous de nous plaindre ou d'endurer; nous n'avons pas d'échappatoire»

And they will come out [for judgement] before Allah all together, and the weak will say to those who were arrogant, "Indeed, we were your followers, so can you avail us anything against the punishment of Allah?" They will say, "If Allah had guided us, we would have guided you. It is all the same for us whether we show intolerance or are patient: there is for us no place of escape

وَقَالَ اَ۬لشَّيْطَٰنُ لَمَّا قُضِيَ اَ۬لَامْرُ إِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ وَعَدَكُمْ وَعْدَ اَ۬لْحَقِّ وَوَعَدتُّكُمْ فَأَخْلَفْتُكُمْ وَمَا كَانَ لِے عَلَيْكُم مِّن سُلْطَٰنٍ اِلَّآ أَن دَعَوْتُكُمْ فَاسْتَجَبْتُمْ لِے فَلَا تَلُومُونِے وَلُومُوٓاْ أَنفُسَكُم مَّآ أَنَا بِمُصْرِخِكُمْ وَمَآ أَنتُم بِمُصْرِخِيَّ إِنِّے كَفَرْتُ بِمَآ أَشْرَكْتُمُونِ مِن قَبْلُۖ إِنَّ اَ۬لظَّٰلِمِينَ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ اَلِيمٞۖ ﰗ

Waqâla shshaytânu lammâ qudiya lamru inna llâha wa‘adakum wa‘da lhaqqi wawa‘adttukum fa'akhlaftukum wamâ kâna lî ‘alaykum min sultânini llâ an da‘awtukum fastajabtum lî falâ talûmûnî walûmû anfusakum mâ anâ bimusrikhikum wamâ antum bimusrikhiyya innî kafartu bimâ ashraktumûni min qablu inna zzâlimîna lahum ‘adhâbuna lîm

Et quand tout sera accompli, le Diable dira: «Certes, Allah vous avait fait une promesse de vérité; tandis que moi, je vous ai fait une promesse que je n'ai pas tenue. Je n'avais aucune autorité sur vous si ce n'est que je vous ai appelés, et que vous m'avez répondu. Ne me faites donc pas de reproches; mais faites-en à vous-mêmes. Je ne vous suis d'aucun secours et vous ne m'êtes d'aucun secours. Je vous renie de m'avoir jadis associé [à Allah]». Certes, un châtiment douloureux attend les injustes [les associateurs]

And Satan will say when the matter has been concluded, "Indeed, Allah had promised you the promise of truth. And I promised you, but I betrayed you. But I had no authority over you except that I invited you, and you responded to me. So do not blame me; but blame yourselves. I cannot be called to your aid, nor can you be called to my aid. Indeed, I deny your association of me [with Allah] before. Indeed, for the wrongdoers is a painful punishment

وَأُدْخِلَ اَ۬لذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ اُ۬لصَّٰلِحَٰتِ جَنَّٰتٖ تَجْرِے مِن تَحْتِهَا اَ۬لَانْهَٰرُ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا بِإِذْنِ رَبِّهِمْۖ تَحِيَّتُهُمْ فِيهَا سَلَٰمٌۖ ﰘ

Wa'udkhila lladhîna âmanû wa‘amilû ssâlihâti jannâtin tajrî min tahtihâ lanhâru khâlidîna fîhâ bi'idhni rabbihim tahiyyatuhum fîhâ salâm

Et on fera entrer ceux qui croient et font de bonnes œuvres, dans les jardins sous lesquels coulent les ruisseaux, pour y demeurer éternellement, par permission de leur Seigneur. Et là, leur salutation sera: «Salâm» (Paix)

And those who believed and did righteous deeds will be admitted to gardens beneath which rivers flow, abiding eternally therein by permission of their Lord; and their greeting therein will be, "Peace

اَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ ضَرَبَ اَ۬للَّهُ مَثَلاٗ كَلِمَةٗ طَيِّبَةٗ كَشَجَرَةٖ طَيِّبَةٍ اَصْلُهَا ثَابِتٞ وَفَرْعُهَا فِے اِ۬لسَّمَآءِ ﰙ

Alam tara kayfa daraba llâhu mathalan kalimatan tayyibatan kashajaratin tayyibatina sluhâ thâbitun wafar‘uhâ fî ssamâ'

N'as-tu pas vu comment Allah propose en parabole une bonne parole pareille à un bel arbre dont la racine est ferme et la ramure s'élançant dans le ciel

Have you not considered how Allah presents an example, [making] a good word like a good tree, whose root is firmly fixed and its branches [high] in the sky

تُوتِےٓ أُكْلَهَا كُلَّ حِينِۢ بِإِذْنِ رَبِّهَاۖ وَيَضْرِبُ اُ۬للَّهُ اُ۬لَامْثَالَ لِلنَّاسِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَذَكَّرُونَۖ ﰚ

Tûtî uklahâ kulla hîni bi'idhni rabbihâ wayadribu llâhu lamthâla linnâsi la‘allahum yatadhakkarûn

Il donne à tout instant ses fruits, par la grâce de son Seigneur. Allah propose des paraboles à l'intention des gens afin qu'ils s'exhortent

It produces its fruit all the time, by permission of its Lord. And Allah presents examples for the people that perhaps they will be reminded

وَمَثَلُ كَلِمَةٍ خَبِيثَةٖ كَشَجَرَةٍ خَبِيثَةٍ اُ۟جْتُثَّتْ مِن فَوْقِ اِ۬لَارْضِ مَا لَهَا مِن قَر۪ارٖۖ ﰛ

Wamathalu kalimatin khabîthatin kashajaratin khabîthatini jtuththat min fawqi lardi mâ lahâ min qarêr

Et une mauvaise parole est pareille à un mauvais arbre, déraciné de la surface de la terre et qui n'a point de stabilité

And the example of a bad word is like a bad tree, uprooted from the surface of the earth, not having any stability

يُثَبِّتُ اُ۬للَّهُ اُ۬لذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ بِالْقَوْلِ اِ۬لثَّابِتِ فِے اِ۬لْحَيَوٰةِ اِ۬لدُّنْي۪ا وَفِے اِ۬لَاخِرَةِۖ وَيُضِلُّ اُ۬للَّهُ اُ۬لظَّٰلِمِينَۖ وَيَفْعَلُ اُ۬للَّهُ مَا يَشَآءُۖ ﰜ

Yuthabbitu llâhu lladhîna âmanû bilqawli ththâbiti fî lhayawâti ddunyê wafî lakhirati wayudillu llâhu zzâlimîna wayaf‘alu llâhu mâ yashâ'

Allah affermit les croyants par une parole ferme, dans la vie présente et dans l'au-delà. Tandis qu'Il égare les injustes. Et Allah fait ce qu'Il veut

Allah keeps firm those who believe, with the firm word, in worldly life and in the Hereafter. And Allah sends astray the wrongdoers. And Allah does what He wills

۞ اَ۬لَمْ تَرَ إِلَى اَ۬لذِينَ بَدَّلُواْ نِعْمَتَ اَ۬للَّهِ كُفْراٗ وَأَحَلُّواْ قَوْمَهُمْ دَارَ اَ۬لْبَو۪ارِ ﰝ

Alam tara ilâ lladhîna baddalû ni‘mata llâhi kufran wa'ahallû qawmahum dâra lbawêr

Ne vois-tu point ceux qui troquent les bienfaits d'Allah contre l'ingratitude et établissent leur peuple dans la demeure de la perdition

Have you not considered those who exchanged the favor of Allah for disbelief and settled their people [in] the home of ruin

جَهَنَّمَ يَصْلَوْنَهَاۖ وَبِيسَ اَ۬لْقَرَارُۖ ﰞ

Jahannama yaslawnahâ wabîsa lqarâr

l'Enfer, où ils brûleront? Et quel mauvais gîte

[It is] Hell, which they will [enter to] burn, and wretched is the settlement

وَجَعَلُواْ لِلهِ أَندَاداٗ لِّيُضِلُّواْ عَن سَبِيلِهِۦۖ قُلْ تَمَتَّعُواْ فَإِنَّ مَصِيرَكُمُۥٓ إِلَى اَ۬لنّ۪ارِۖ ﰟ

Waja‘alû lillâhi andâdal liyudillû ‘an sabîlihî qul tamatta‘û fa'inna masîrakumû ilâ nnêr

Et ils ont donné à Allah des égaux afin d'égarer (les gens) de Son sentier. - Dis: «Jouissez [de cette vie] car votre destination sera le feu»

And they have attributed to Allah equals to mislead [people] from His way. Say, "Enjoy yourselves, for indeed, your destination is the Fire

قُل لِّعِبَادِيَ اَ۬لذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ يُقِيمُواْ اُ۬لصَّلَوٰةَ وَيُنفِقُواْ مِمَّا رَزَقْنَٰهُمْ سِرّاٗ وَعَلَٰنِيَةٗ مِّن قَبْلِ أَنْ يَّاتِيَ يَوْمٞ لَّا بَيْعٞ فِيهِ وَلَا خِلَٰلٌۖ ﰠ

Qul li‘ibâdiya lladhîna âmanû yuqîmû ssalawâta wayunfiqû mimmâ razaqnâhum sirran wa‘alâniyatam min qabli ay yâtiya yawmul lâ bay‘un fîhi walâ khilâl

Dis à Mes serviteurs qui ont cru, qu'ils accomplissent la Salât et qu'ils dépensent [dans le bien] en secret et en public de ce que Nous leur avons attribué, avant que vienne le jour où il n'y a ni rachat ni amitié

[O Muhammad], tell My servants who have believed to establish prayer and spend from what We have provided them, secretly and publicly, before a Day comes in which there will be no exchange, nor any friendships

اِ۬للَّهُ اُ۬لذِے خَلَقَ اَ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالَارْضَ وَأَنزَلَ مِنَ اَ۬لسَّمَآءِ مَآءٗ فَأَخْرَجَ بِهِۦ مِنَ اَ۬لثَّمَرَٰتِ رِزْقاٗ لَّكُمْۖ وَسَخَّرَ لَكُمُ اُ۬لْفُلْكَ لِتَجْرِيَ فِے اِ۬لْبَحْرِ بِأَمْرِهِۦۖ وَسَخَّرَ لَكُمُ اُ۬لَانْهَٰرَۖ ﰡ

Allâhu lladhî khalaqa ssamâwâti walarda wa'anzala mina ssamâ'i mâ'an fa'akhraja bihî mina ththamarâti rizqal lakum wasakhkhara lakumu lfulka litajriya fî lbahri bi'amrihî wasakhkhara lakumu lanhâr

Allah, c'est Lui qui a crée les cieux et la terre et qui, du ciel, a fait descendre l'eau; grâce à laquelle Il a produit des fruits pour vous nourrir. Il a soumis à votre service les vaisseaux qui, par Son ordre, voguent sur la mer. Et Il a soumis à votre service les rivières

It is Allah who created the heavens and the earth and sent down rain from the sky and produced thereby some fruits as provision for you and subjected for you the ships to sail through the sea by His command and subjected for you the rivers

وَسَخَّرَ لَكُمُ اُ۬لشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ دَآئِبَيْنِۖ وَسَخَّرَ لَكُمُ اُ۬ليْلَ وَالنَّهَارَۖ ﰢ

Wasakhkhara lakumu shshamsa walqamara dâ'ibayni wasakhkhara lakumu llayla wannahâr

Et pour vous, Il a assujetti le soleil et la lune à une perpétuelle révolution. Et Il vous a assujetti la nuit et le jour

And He subjected for you the sun and the moon, continuous [in orbit], and subjected for you the night and the day

وَءَات۪يٰكُم مِّن كُلِّ مَا سَأَلْتُمُوهُۖ وَإِن تَعُدُّواْ نِعْمَتَ اَ۬للَّهِ لَا تُحْصُوهَآۖ إِنَّ اَ۬لِانسَٰنَ لَظَلُومٞ كَفَّارٞۖ ﰣ

Wa'âtêkum min kulli mâ sa'altumûhu wa'in ta‘uddû ni‘mata llâhi lâ tuhsûhâ inna linsâna lazalûmun kaffâr

Il vous a accordé de tout ce que vous Lui avez demandé. Et si vous comptiez les bienfaits d'Allah, vous ne sauriez les dénombrer. L'homme est vraiment très injuste, très ingrat

And He gave you from all you asked of Him. And if you should count the favor of Allah, you could not enumerate them. Indeed, mankind is [generally] most unjust and ungrateful

وَإِذْ قَالَ إِبْرَٰهِيمُ رَبِّ اِ۪جْعَلْ هَٰذَا اَ۬لْبَلَدَ ءَامِناٗ وَاجْنُبْنِے وَبَنِيَّ أَن نَّعْبُدَ اَ۬لَاصْنَامَۖ ﰤ

Wa'idh qâla ibrâhîmu rabbi j‘al hâdhâ lbalada âminan wajnubnî wabaniyya an na‘buda lasnâm

Et (rappelle-toi) quand Abraham dit: «O mon Seigneur, fais de cette cité un lieu sûr, et préserve-moi ainsi que mes enfants de l'adoration des idoles

And [mention, O Muhammad], when Abraham said, "My Lord, make this city [Makkah] secure and keep me and my sons away from worshipping idols

رَبِّ إِنَّهُنَّ أَضْلَلْنَ كَثِيراٗ مِّنَ اَ۬لنَّاسِ فَمَن تَبِعَنِے فَإِنَّهُۥ مِنِّے وَمَنْ عَص۪انِے فَإِنَّكَ غَفُورٞ رَّحِيمٞۖ ﰥ

Rabbi innahunna adlalna kathîram mina nnâsi faman tabi‘anî fa'innahû minnî waman ‘asênî fa'innaka ghafûrur rahîm

O mon Seigneur, elles (les idoles) ont égaré beaucoup de gens. Quiconque me suit est des miens. Quant à celui qui me désobéit... c'est Toi, le Pardonneur, le Très Miséricordieux

My Lord, indeed they have led astray many among the people. So whoever follows me - then he is of me; and whoever disobeys me - indeed, You are [yet] Forgiving and Merciful

رَّبَّنَآ إِنِّيَ أَسْكَنتُ مِن ذُرِّيَّتِے بِوَادٍ غَيْرِ ذِے زَرْعٍ عِندَ بَيْتِكَ اَ۬لْمُحَرَّمِۖ رَبَّنَا لِيُقِيمُواْ اُ۬لصَّلَوٰةَ فَاجْعَلَ اَفْـِٕدَةٗ مِّنَ اَ۬لنَّاسِ تَهْوِےٓ إِلَيْهِمْ وَارْزُقْهُم مِّنَ اَ۬لثَّمَرَٰتِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَشْكُرُونَۖ ﰦ

Rabbanâ inniya askantu min dhurriyyatî biwâdin ghayri dhî zar‘in ‘inda baytika lmuharrami rabbanâ liyuqîmû ssalawâta faj‘ala f'idatam mina nnâsi tahwî ilayhim warzuqhum mina ththamarâti la‘allahum yashkurûn

O notre Seigneur, j'ai établi une partie de ma descendance dans une vallée sans agriculture, près de Ta Maison sacrée [la Ka'ba], - ô notre Seigneur - afin qu'ils accomplissent la Salât. Fais donc que se penchent vers eux les cœurs d'une partie des gens. Et nourris-les de fruits. Peut-être seront-ils reconnaissants

Our Lord, I have settled some of my descendants in an uncultivated valley near Your sacred House, our Lord, that they may establish prayer. So make hearts among the people incline toward them and provide for them from the fruits that they might be grateful

رَبَّنَآ إِنَّكَ تَعْلَمُ مَا نُخْفِے وَمَا نُعْلِنُۖ وَمَا يَخْف۪ىٰ عَلَى اَ۬للَّهِ مِن شَےْءٖ فِے اِ۬لَارْضِ وَلَا فِے اِ۬لسَّمَآءِۖ ﰧ

Rabbanâ innaka ta‘lamu mâ nukhfî wamâ nu‘linu wamâ yakhfê ‘alâ llâhi min shay'in fî lardi walâ fî ssamâ'

O notre Seigneur, Tu sais, vraiment, ce que nous cachons et ce que nous divulguons: - et rien n'échappe à Allah, ni sur terre, ni au ciel

Our Lord, indeed You know what we conceal and what we declare, and nothing is hidden from Allah on the earth or in the heaven

۞ اِ۬لْحَمْدُ لِلهِ اِ۬لذِے وَهَبَ لِے عَلَى اَ۬لْكِبَرِ إِسْمَٰعِيلَ وَإِسْحَٰقَۖ إِنَّ رَبِّے لَسَمِيعُ اُ۬لدُّعَآءِۖ ﰨ

Alhamdu lillâhi lladhî wahaba lî ‘alâ lkibari ismâ‘îla wa'ishâqa inna rabbî lasamî‘u ddu‘â'

Louange à Allah, qui en dépit de ma vieillesse, m'a donné Ismaël et Isaac. Certes, mon Seigneur entend bien les prières

Praise to Allah, who has granted to me in old age Ishmael and Isaac. Indeed, my Lord is the Hearer of supplication

رَبِّ اِ۪جْعَلْنِے مُقِيمَ اَ۬لصَّلَوٰةِ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّتِےۖ رَبَّنَا وَتَقَبَّلْ دُعَآءِۦۖ ﰩ

Rabbi j‘alnî muqîma ssalawâti wamin dhurriyyatî rabbanâ wataqabbal du‘â'î

O mon Seigneur! Fais que j'accomplisse assidûment la Salât ainsi qu'une partie de ma descendance; exauce ma prière, ô notre Seigneur

My Lord, make me an establisher of prayer, and [many] from my descendants. Our Lord, and accept my supplication

رَبَّنَا اَ۪غْفِرْ لِے وَلِوَٰلِدَيَّ وَلِلْمُومِنِينَ يَوْمَ يَقُومُ اُ۬لْحِسَابُۖ ﰪ

Rabbanâ ghfir lî waliwâlidayya walilmûminîna yawma yaqûmu lhisâb

O notre Seigneur! pardonne-moi, ainsi qu'à mes père et mère et aux croyants, le jour de la reddition des comptes»

Our Lord, forgive me and my parents and the believers the Day the account is established

وَلَا تَحْسِبَنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ غَٰفِلاً عَمَّا يَعْمَلُ اُ۬لظَّٰلِمُونَۖ إِنَّمَا يُوَ۬خِّرُهُمْ لِيَوْمٖ تَشْخَصُ فِيهِ اِ۬لَابْصَٰرُ ﰫ

Walâ tahsibanna llâha ghâfilan ‘ammâ ya‘malu zzâlimûna innamâ yuwakhkhiruhum liyawmin tashkhasu fîhi labsâr

Et ne pense point qu'Allah soit inattentif à ce que font les injustes. Ils leur accordera un délai jusqu'au jour ou leurs regards se figeront

And never think that Allah is unaware of what the wrongdoers do. He only delays them for a Day when eyes will stare [in horror]

مُهْطِعِينَ مُقْنِعِے رُءُوسِهِمْ لَا يَرْتَدُّ إِلَيْهِمْ طَرْفُهُمْ وَأَفْـِٕدَتُهُمْ هَوَآءٞۖ ﰬ

Muhti‘îna muqni‘î ru'ûsihim lâ yartaddu ilayhim tarfuhum wa'af'idatuhum hawâ'

Ils courront [suppliant], levant la tête, les yeux hagards et les cœurs vides

Racing ahead, their heads raised up, their glance does not come back to them, and their hearts are void

وَأَنذِرِ اِ۬لنَّاسَ يَوْمَ يَاتِيهِمُ اُ۬لْعَذَابُ فَيَقُولُ اُ۬لذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ رَبَّنَآ أَخِّرْنَآ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٖ قَرِيبٖ نُّجِبْ دَعْوَتَكَ وَنَتَّبِعِ اِ۬لرُّسُلَۖ أَوَلَمْ تَكُونُوٓاْ أَقْسَمْتُم مِّن قَبْلُ مَا لَكُم مِّن زَوَالٖۖ ﰭ

Wa'andhiri nnâsa yawma yâtîhimu l‘adhâbu fayaqûlu lladhîna zalamû rabbanâ akhkhirnâ ilâ ajalin qarîbin nujib da‘wataka wanattabi‘i rrusula awalam takûnû aqsamtum min qablu mâ lakum min zawâl

Et avertis les gens du jour où le châtiment les atteindra et ceux qui auront été injustes diront: «O notre Seigneur accorde-nous un court délai, nous répondrons à Ton appel et suivrons les messagers». - N'avez-vous pas juré auparavant que vous ne deviez jamais disparaître

And, [O Muhammad], warn the people of a Day when the punishment will come to them and those who did wrong will say, "Our Lord, delay us for a short term; we will answer Your call and follow the messengers." [But it will be said], "Had you not sworn, before, that for you there would be no cessation

وَسَكَنتُمْ فِے مَسَٰكِنِ اِ۬لذِينَ ظَلَمُوٓاْ أَنفُسَهُمْ وَتَبَيَّنَ لَكُمْ كَيْفَ فَعَلْنَا بِهِمْ وَضَرَبْنَا لَكُمُ اُ۬لَامْثَالَۖ ﰮ

Wasakantum fî masâkini lladhîna zalamû anfusahum watabayyana lakum kayfa fa‘alnâ bihim wadarabnâ lakumu lamthâl

Et vous avez habité, les demeures de ceux qui s'étaient fait du tort à eux-mêmes. Il vous est apparu en toute évidence comment Nous les avions traité et Nous vous avons cité les exemples

And you lived among the dwellings of those who wronged themselves, and it had become clear to you how We dealt with them. And We presented for you [many] examples

وَقَدْ مَكَرُواْ مَكْرَهُمْۖ وَعِندَ اَ۬للَّهِ مَكْرُهُمْۖ وَإِن كَانَ مَكْرُهُمْ لِتَزُولَ مِنْهُ اُ۬لْجِبَالُۖ ﰯ

Waqad makarû makrahum wa‘inda llâhi makruhum wa'in kâna makruhum litazûla minhu ljibâl

Ils ont certes comploté. Or leur complot est (inscrit) auprès d'Allah même si leur complot était assez puissant pour faire disparaître les montagnes

And they had planned their plan, but with Allah is [recorded] their plan, even if their plan had been [sufficient] to do away with the mountains

فَلَا تَحْسِبَنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ مُخْلِفَ وَعْدِهِۦ رُسُلَهُۥٓۖ إِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ عَزِيزٞ ذُو اُ۪نتِقَامٖۖ ﰰ

Falâ tahsibanna llâha mukhlifa wa‘dihî rusulahû inna llâha ‘azîzun dhû ntiqâm

Ne pense point qu'Allah manque à Sa promesse envers Ses messagers. Certes Allah est Tout Puissant et Détenteur du pouvoir de punir

So never think that Allah will fail in His promise to His messengers. Indeed, Allah is Exalted in Might and Owner of Retribution

يَوْمَ تُبَدَّلُ اُ۬لَارْضُ غَيْرَ اَ۬لَارْضِ وَالسَّمَٰوَٰتُۖ وَبَرَزُواْ لِلهِ اِ۬لْوَٰحِدِ اِ۬لْقَهّ۪ارِۖ ﰱ

Yawma tubaddalu lardu ghayra lardi wassamâwâtu wabarazû lillâhi lwâhidi lqahhêr

au jour où la terre sera remplacée par une autre, de même que les cieux et où (les hommes) comparaîtront devant Allah, l'Unique, le Dominateur Suprême

[It will be] on the Day the earth will be replaced by another earth, and the heavens [as well], and all creatures will come out before Allah, the One, the Prevailing

وَتَرَى اَ۬لْمُجْرِمِينَ يَوْمَئِذٖ مُّقَرَّنِينَ فِے اِ۬لَاصْفَادِ ﰲ

Watarâ lmujrimîna yawma'idhim muqarranîna fî lasfâd

Et ce jour-là, tu verras les coupables, enchaînés les uns aux autres

And you will see the criminals that Day bound together in shackles

سَرَابِيلُهُم مِّن قَطِرَانٖ وَتَغْش۪ىٰ وُجُوهَهُمُ اُ۬لنَّارُ ﰳ

Sarâbîluhum min qatirânin wataghshê wujûhahumu nnâr

leurs tuniques seront de goudron et le feu couvrira leurs visages

Their garments of liquid pitch and their faces covered by the Fire

لِيَجْزِيَ اَ۬للَّهُ كُلَّ نَفْسٖ مَّا كَسَبَتِۖ اِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ سَرِيعُ اُ۬لْحِسَابِۖ ﰴ

Liyajziya llâhu kulla nafsim mâ kasabati nna llâha sarî‘u lhisâb

(Tout cela) afin qu'Allah rétribue chaque âme de ce qu'elle aura acquis. Certes Allah est prompt dans Ses comptes

So that Allah will recompense every soul for what it earned. Indeed, Allah is swift in account

هَٰذَا بَلَٰغٞ لِّلنَّاسِ وَلِيُنذَرُواْ بِهِۦ وَلِيَعْلَمُوٓاْ أَنَّمَا هُوَ إِلَٰهٞ وَٰحِدٞ وَلِيَذَّكَّرَ أُوْلُواْ اُ۬لَالْبَٰبِۖ ﰵ

Hâdhâ balâghul linnâsi waliyundharû bihî waliya‘lamû annamâ huwa ilâhun wâhidun waliyadhdhakkara ulû lalbâb

Ceci est un message (le Coran) pour les gens afin qu'ils soient avertis, qu'ils sachent qu'Il n'est qu'un Dieu unique, et pour que les doués d'intelligence s'exhortent

This [Qur'an] is notification for the people that they may be warned thereby and that they may know that He is but one God and that those of understanding will be reminded
