اَلَٓمِّٓۖ تَنزِيلُ اُ۬لْكِتَٰبِ لَا رَيْبَ فِيهِ مِن رَّبِّ اِ۬لْعَٰلَمِينَۖ ﰀ

Alif lâm mîm tanzîlu lkitâbi lâ rayba fîhi mir rabbi l‘âlamîn

Alif, Lâm, Mîm La Révélation du Livre, nul doute là-dessus, émane du Seigneur de l'univers

Alif, Lam, Meem [This is] the revelation of the Book about which there is no doubt from the Lord of the worlds

أَمْ يَقُولُونَ اَ۪فْتَر۪يٰهُۖ بَلْ هُوَ اَ۬لْحَقُّ مِن رَّبِّكَ لِتُنذِرَ قَوْماٗ مَّآ أَت۪يٰهُم مِّن نَّذِيرٖ مِّن قَبْلِكَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَهْتَدُونَۖ ﰁ

Am yaqûlûna ftarêhu bal huwa lhaqqu mir rabbika litundhira qawmam mâ atêhum min nadhîrim min qablika la‘allahum yahtadûn

Diront-ils qu'il (Muhammad) l'a inventé? Ceci est, au contraire, la vérité venant de ton Seigneur pour que tu avertisses un peuple à qui nul avertisseur avant toi n'est venu, afin qu'ils se guident

Or do they say, "He invented it"? Rather, it is the truth from your Lord, [O Muhammad], that you may warn a people to whom no warner has come before you [so] perhaps they will be guided

اَ۬للَّهُ اُ۬لذِے خَلَقَ اَ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالَارْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا فِے سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٖ ثُمَّ اَ۪سْتَو۪ىٰ عَلَى اَ۬لْعَرْشِۖ مَا لَكُم مِّن دُونِهِۦ مِنْ وَّلِيّٖ وَلَا شَفِيعٍۖ اَفَلَا تَتَذَكَّرُونَۖ ﰂ

Allâhu lladhî khalaqa ssamâwâti walarda wamâ baynahumâ fî sittati ayyâmin thumma stawê ‘alâ l‘arshi mâ lakum min dûnihî miw waliyyin walâ shafî‘ina falâ tatadhakkarûn

Allah qui a créé en six jours les cieux et la terre, et ce qui est entre eux. Ensuite Il S'est établi «Istawâ» sur le Trône. Vous n'avez, en dehors de Lui, ni allié ni intercesseur. Ne vous rappelez-vous donc pas

It is Allah who created the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them in six days; then He established Himself above the Throne. You have not besides Him any protector or any intercessor; so will you not be reminded

يُدَبِّرُ اُ۬لَامْرَ مِنَ اَ۬لسَّمَآءِ الَى اَ۬لَارْضِ ثُمَّ يَعْرُجُ إِلَيْهِ فِے يَوْمٖ كَانَ مِقْدَارُهُۥٓ أَلْفَ سَنَةٖ مِّمَّا تَعُدُّونَۖ ﰃ

Yudabbiru lamra mina ssamâ'i âlâ lardi thumma ya‘ruju ilayhi fî yawmin kâna miqdâruhû alfa sanatim mimmâ ta‘uddûn

Du ciel à la terre, Il administre l'affaire, laquelle ensuite monte vers Lui en un jour équivalent à mille ans de votre calcul

He arranges [each] matter from the heaven to the earth; then it will ascend to Him in a Day, the extent of which is a thousand years of those which you count

ذَٰلِكَ عَٰلِمُ اُ۬لْغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَٰدَةِ اِ۬لْعَزِيزُ اُ۬لرَّحِيمُۖ ﰄ

Dhâlika ‘âlimu lghaybi washshahâdati l‘azîzu rrahîm

C'est Lui le Connaisseur [des mondes] inconnus et visibles, le Puissant, le Miséricordieux

That is the Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, the Exalted in Might, the Merciful

اُ۬لذِےٓ أَحْسَنَ كُلَّ شَےْءٍ خَلَقَهُۥ وَبَدَأَ خَلْقَ اَ۬لِانسَٰنِ مِن طِينٖۖ ﰅ

Alladhî ahsana kulla shay'in khalaqahû wabada'a khalqa linsâni min tîn

qui a bien fait tout ce qu'Il a créé. Et Il a commencé la création de l'homme à partir de l'argile

Who perfected everything which He created and began the creation of man from clay

ثُمَّ جَعَلَ نَسْلَهُۥ مِن سُلَٰلَةٖ مِّن مَّآءٖ مَّهِينٖۖ ﰆ

Thumma ja‘ala naslahû min sulâlatim mim mâ'im mahîn

puis Il tira sa descendance d'une goutte d'eau vile [le sperme]

Then He made his posterity out of the extract of a liquid disdained

ثُمَّ سَوّ۪يٰهُ وَنَفَخَ فِيهِ مِن رُّوحِهِۦۖ وَجَعَلَ لَكُمُ اُ۬لسَّمْعَ وَالَابْصَٰرَ وَالَافْـِٕدَةَۖ قَلِيلاٗ مَّا تَشْكُرُونَۖ ﰇ

Thumma sawwêhu wanafakha fîhi mir rûhihî waja‘ala lakumu ssam‘a walabsâra walaf'idata qalîlam mâ tashkurûn

puis Il lui donna sa forme parfaite et lui insuffla de Son Esprit. Et Il vous a assigné l'ouïe, les yeux et le cœur. Que vous êtes peu reconnaissants

Then He proportioned him and breathed into him from His [created] soul and made for you hearing and vision and hearts; little are you grateful

وَقَالُوٓاْ أَ۟ذَا ضَلَلْنَا فِے اِ۬لَارْضِ إِنَّا لَفِے خَلْقٖ جَدِيدِۢۖ ﰈ

Waqâlû adhâ dalalnâ fî lardi innâ lafî khalqin jadîd

Et ils disent: «Quand nous serons perdus dans la terre [sous forme de poussière], redeviendrons-nous une création nouvelle?» En outre, ils ne croient pas en la rencontre avec leur Seigneur

And they say, "When we are lost within the earth, will we indeed be [recreated] in a new creation?" Rather, they are, in [the matter of] the meeting with their Lord, disbelievers

بَلْ هُم بِلِقَآءِ رَبِّهِمْ كَٰفِرُونَۖ ﰉ

Bal hum biliqâ'i rabbihim kâfirûn

↑ Translation included in the previous verse's (a single verse in the Hafs count).

۞ قُلْ يَتَوَفّ۪يٰكُم مَّلَكُ اُ۬لْمَوْتِ اِ۬لذِے وُكِّلَ بِكُمْ ثُمَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكُمْ تُرْجَعُونَۖ ﰊ

Qul yatawaffêkum malaku lmawti lladhî wukkila bikum thumma ilâ rabbikum turja‘ûn

Dis: «L'Ange de la mort qui est chargé de vous, vous fera mourir. Ensuite, vous serez ramenés vers Votre Seigneur»

Say, "The angel of death will take you who has been entrusted with you. Then to your Lord you will be returned

وَلَوْ تَر۪ىٰٓ إِذِ اِ۬لْمُجْرِمُونَ نَاكِسُواْ رُءُوسِهِمْ عِندَ رَبِّهِمْ رَبَّنَآ أَبْصَرْنَا وَسَمِعْنَا فَارْجِعْنَا نَعْمَلْ صَٰلِحاً اِنَّا مُوقِنُونَۖ ﰋ

Walaw tarê idhi lmujrimûna nâkisû ru'ûsihim ‘inda rabbihim rabbanâ absarnâ wasami‘nâ farji‘nâ na‘mal sâlihani nnâ mûqinûn

Si tu voyais alors les criminels [comparaître], têtes basses devant leur Seigneur! «Notre Seigneur, Nous avons vu et entendu, renvoie-nous donc afin que nous puissions faire du bien; nous croyons [maintenant] avec certitude»

If you could but see when the criminals are hanging their heads before their Lord, [saying], "Our Lord, we have seen and heard, so return us [to the world]; we will work righteousness. Indeed, we are [now] certain

وَلَوْ شِئْنَا لَأٓتَيْنَا كُلَّ نَفْسٍ هُد۪يٰهَاۖ وَلَٰكِنْ حَقَّ اَ۬لْقَوْلُ مِنِّے لَأَمْلَأَنَّ جَهَنَّمَ مِنَ اَ۬لْجِنَّةِ وَالنَّاسِ أَجْمَعِينَۖ ﰌ

Walaw shî'nâ la'taynâ kulla nafsin hudêhâ walâkin haqqa lqawlu minnî la'amla'anna jahannama mina ljinnati wannâsi ajma‘în

«Si Nous voulions, Nous apporterions à chaque âme sa guidée. Mais la parole venant de Moi doit être réalisée: «J'emplirai l'Enfer de djinns et d'hommes réunis»

And if We had willed, We could have given every soul its guidance, but the word from Me will come into effect [that] "I will surely fill Hell with jinn and people all together

فَذُوقُواْ بِمَا نَسِيتُمْ لِقَآءَ يَوْمِكُمْ هَٰذَآ إِنَّا نَسِينَٰكُمْۖ وَذُوقُواْ عَذَابَ اَ۬لْخُلْدِ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَۖ ﰍ

Fadhûqû bimâ nasîtum liqâ'a yawmikum hâdhâ innâ nasînâkum wadhûqû ‘adhâba lkhuldi bimâ kuntum ta‘malûn

«Goûtez donc! Pour avoir oublié la rencontre de votre jour que voici. Nous aussi Nous vous avons oubliés. Goûtez au châtiment éternel pour ce que vous faisiez»

So taste [punishment] because you forgot the meeting of this, your Day; indeed, We have [accordingly] forgotten you. And taste the punishment of eternity for what you used to do

إِنَّمَا يُومِنُ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا اَ۬لذِينَ إِذَا ذُكِّرُواْ بِهَا خَرُّواْ سُجَّداٗ وَسَبَّحُواْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّهِمْ وَهُمْ لَا يَسْتَكْبِرُونَۖ۩ ﰎ

Innamâ yûminu bi'âyâtinâ lladhîna idhâ dhukkirû bihâ kharrû sujjadan wasabbahû bihamdi rabbihim wahum lâ yastakbirûn

Seuls croient en Nos versets ceux qui, lorsqu'on les leur rappelle, tombent prosternés et, par des louanges à leur Seigneur, célèbrent Sa gloire et ne s'enflent pas d'orgueil

Only those believe in Our verses who, when they are reminded by them, fall down in prostration and exalt [Allah] with praise of their Lord, and they are not arrogant

تَتَجَاف۪ىٰ جُنُوبُهُمْ عَنِ اِ۬لْمَضَاجِعِ يَدْعُونَ رَبَّهُمْ خَوْفاٗ وَطَمَعاٗ وَمِمَّا رَزَقْنَٰهُمْ يُنفِقُونَۖ ﰏ

Tatajâfê junûbuhum ‘ani lmadâji‘i yad‘ûna rabbahum khawfan watama‘an wamimmâ razaqnâhum yunfiqûn

Ils s'arrachent de leurs lits pour invoquer leur Seigneur, par crainte et espoir; et ils font largesse de ce que Nous leur attribuons

They arise from [their] beds; they supplicate their Lord in fear and aspiration, and from what We have provided them, they spend

فَلَا تَعْلَمُ نَفْسٞ مَّآ أُخْفِيَ لَهُم مِّن قُرَّةِ أَعْيُنٖ جَزَآءَۢ بِمَا كَانُواْ يَعْمَلُونَۖ ﰐ

Falâ ta‘lamu nafsum mâ ukhfiya lahum min qurrati a‘yunin jazâ'am bimâ kânû ya‘malûn

Aucun être ne sait ce qu'on a réservé pour eux comme réjouissance pour les yeux, en récompense de ce qu'ils œuvraient

And no soul knows what has been hidden for them of comfort for eyes as reward for what they used to do

أَفَمَن كَانَ مُومِناٗ كَمَن كَانَ فَاسِقاٗۖ لَّا يَسْتَوُۥنَۖ ﰑ

Afaman kâna mûminan kaman kâna fâsiqal lâ yastawûn

Celui qui est croyant est-il comparable au pervers? (Non), ils ne sont point égaux

Then is one who was a believer like one who was defiantly disobedient? They are not equal

أَمَّا اَ۬لذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ اُ۬لصَّٰلِحَٰتِ فَلَهُمْ جَنَّٰتُ اُ۬لْمَأْو۪ىٰ نُزُلاَۢ بِمَا كَانُواْ يَعْمَلُونَۖ ﰒ

Ammâ lladhîna âmanû wa‘amilû ssâlihâti falahum jannâtu lma'wê nuzulam bimâ kânû ya‘malûn

Ceux qui croient et accomplissent les bonnes œuvres, auront leur résidence dans les Jardins du Refuge, en récompense de ce qu'ils œuvraient

As for those who believed and did righteous deeds, for them will be the Gardens of Refuge as accommodation for what they used to do

وَأَمَّا اَ۬لذِينَ فَسَقُواْ فَمَأْو۪يٰهُمُ اُ۬لنَّارُۖ كُلَّمَآ أَرَادُوٓاْ أَنْ يَّخْرُجُواْ مِنْهَآ أُعِيدُواْ فِيهَا وَقِيلَ لَهُمْ ذُوقُواْ عَذَابَ اَ۬لنّ۪ارِ اِ۬لذِے كُنتُم بِهِۦ تُكَذِّبُونَۖ ﰓ

Wa'ammâ lladhîna fasaqû fama'wêhumu nnâru kullamâ arâdû ay yakhrujû minhâ u‘îdû fîhâ waqîla lahum dhûqû ‘adhâba nnêri lladhî kuntum bihî tukadhdhibûn

Et quant à ceux qui auront été pervers, leur refuge sera le Feu: toutes les fois qu'ils voudront en sortir, ils y seront ramenés, et on leur dira: «Goûtez au châtiment du Feu auquel vous refusiez de croire»

But as for those who defiantly disobeyed, their refuge is the Fire. Every time they wish to emerge from it, they will be returned to it while it is said to them, "Taste the punishment of the Fire which you used to deny

۞ وَلَنُذِيقَنَّهُم مِّنَ اَ۬لْعَذَابِ اِ۬لَادْن۪ىٰ دُونَ اَ۬لْعَذَابِ اِ۬لَاكْبَرِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَۖ ﰔ

Walanudhîqannahum mina l‘adhâbi ladnê dûna l‘adhâbi lakbari la‘allahum yarji‘ûn

Nous leur ferons certainement goûter au châtiment ici-bas, avant le grand châtiment afin qu'ils retournent (vers le chemin droit)

And we will surely let them taste the nearer punishment short of the greater punishment that perhaps they will repent

وَمَنَ اَظْلَمُ مِمَّن ذُكِّرَ بِـَٔايَٰتِ رَبِّهِۦ ثُمَّ أَعْرَضَ عَنْهَآۖ إِنَّا مِنَ اَ۬لْمُجْرِمِينَ مُنتَقِمُونَۖ ﰕ

Wamana zlamu mimman dhukkira bi'âyâti rabbihî thumma a‘rada ‘anhâ innâ mina lmujrimîna muntaqimûn

Qui est plus injuste que celui à qui les versets d'Allah sont rappelés et qui ensuite s'en détourne? Nous nous vengerons certes des criminels

And who is more unjust than one who is reminded of the verses of his Lord; then he turns away from them? Indeed We, from the criminals, will take retribution

وَلَقَدَ اٰتَيْنَا مُوسَى اَ۬لْكِتَٰبَۖ فَلَا تَكُن فِے مِرْيَةٖ مِّن لِّقَآئِهِۦۖ وَجَعَلْنَٰهُ هُدىٗ لِّبَنِےٓ إِسْرَآءِيلَۖ ﰖ

Walaqada âtaynâ mûsâ lkitâba falâ takun fî miryatim mil liqâ'ihî waja‘alnâhu hudal libanî isrâ'îl

Nous avons effectivement donné à Moïse le Livre - ne sois donc pas en doute sur ta rencontre avec lui -, et l'avons assigné comme guide aux Enfants d'Israël

And We certainly gave Moses the Scripture, so do not be in doubt over his meeting. And we made the Torah guidance for the Children of Israel

وَجَعَلْنَا مِنْهُمُۥٓ أَئِمَّةٗ يَهْدُونَ بِأَمْرِنَا لَمَّا صَبَرُواْۖ وَكَانُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا يُوقِنُونَۖ ﰗ

Waja‘alnâ minhumû a'immatan yahdûna bi'amrinâ lammâ sabarû wakânû bi'âyâtinâ yûqinûn

Et Nous avons désigné parmi eux des dirigeants qui guidaient (les gens) par Notre ordre aussi longtemps qu'ils enduraient et croyaient fermement en Nos versets

And We made from among them leaders guiding by Our command when they were patient and [when] they were certain of Our signs

إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ يَفْصِلُ بَيْنَهُمْ يَوْمَ اَ۬لْقِيَٰمَةِ فِيمَا كَانُواْ فِيهِ يَخْتَلِفُونَۖ ﰘ

Inna rabbaka huwa yafsilu baynahum yawma lqiyâmati fîmâ kânû fîhi yakhtalifûn

Ton Seigneur, c'est Lui qui décidera entre eux, au Jour de la Résurrection, de ce sur quoi ils divergeaient

Indeed, your Lord will judge between them on the Day of Resurrection concerning that over which they used to differ

أَوَلَمْ يَهْدِ لَهُمْ كَمَ اَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَبْلِهِم مِّنَ اَ۬لْقُرُونِ يَمْشُونَ فِے مَسَٰكِنِهِمُۥٓۖ إِنَّ فِے ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَٰتٍۖ اَفَلَا يَسْمَعُونَۖ ﰙ

Awalam yahdi lahum kama hlaknâ min qablihim mina lqurûni yamshûna fî masâkinihimû inna fî dhâlika la'yâtina falâ yasma‘ûn

N'est-ce pas pour eux une indication le fait qu'avant eux, Nous ayons fait périr tant de générations dans les maisons desquelles ils marchent? Il y a en cela des preuves! N'écouteront-ils donc pas

Has it not become clear to them how many generations We destroyed before them, [as] they walk among their dwellings? Indeed in that are signs; then do they not hear

أَوَلَمْ يَرَوَاْ اَنَّا نَسُوقُ اُ۬لْمَآءَ ا۪لَى اَ۬لَارْضِ اِ۬لْجُرُزِ فَنُخْرِجُ بِهِۦ زَرْعاٗ تَاكُلُ مِنْهُ أَنْعَٰمُهُمْ وَأَنفُسُهُمُۥٓۖ أَفَلَا يُبْصِرُونَۖ ﰚ

Awalam yarawa nnâ nasûqu lmâ'a lâ lardi ljuruzi fanukhriju bihî zar‘an tâkulu minhu an‘âmuhum wa'anfusuhumû afalâ yubsirûn

N'ont-ils pas vu que Nous poussons l'eau vers un sol aride, qu'ensuite Nous en faisons sortir une culture que consomment leurs bestiaux et eux-mêmes? Ne voient-ils donc pas

Have they not seen that We drive the water [in clouds] to barren land and bring forth thereby crops from which their livestock eat and [they] themselves? Then do they not see

وَيَقُولُونَ مَت۪ىٰ هَٰذَا اَ۬لْفَتْحُ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَۖ ﰛ

Wayaqûlûna matê hâdhâ lfathu in kuntum sâdiqîn

Et ils disent: «A quand cette victoire, si vous êtes véridiques?»

And they say, "When will be this conquest, if you should be truthful

قُلْ يَوْمَ اَ۬لْفَتْحِ لَا يَنفَعُ اُ۬لذِينَ كَفَرُوٓاْ إِيمَٰنُهُمْ وَلَا هُمْ يُنظَرُونَۖ ﰜ

Qul yawma lfathi lâ yanfa‘u lladhîna kafarû îmânuhum walâ hum yunzarûn

Dis: «Le jour de la Victoire, il sera inutile aux infidèles de croire! Et aucun délai ne leur sera donné»

Say, [O Muhammad], "On the Day of Conquest the belief of those who had disbelieved will not benefit them, nor will they be reprieved

فَأَعْرِضْ عَنْهُمْ وَانتَظِرِۖ اِنَّهُم مُّنتَظِرُونَۖ ﰝ

Fa'a‘rid ‘anhum wântaziri nnahum muntazirûn

Eloigne-toi d'eux et attends. Eux aussi demeurent dans l'attente

So turn away from them and wait. Indeed, they are waiting
