ح۪مِٓۖ تَنزِيلُ اُ۬لْكِتَٰبِ مِنَ اَ۬للَّهِ اِ۬لْعَزِيزِ اِ۬لْحَكِيمِۖ ﰀ

Hâ mîm tanzîlu lkitâbi mina llâhi l‘azîzi lhakîm

H'â, Mîm La révélation du Livre émane d'Allah, le Puissant, le Sage

Ha, Meem The revelation of the Book is from Allah, the Exalted in Might, the Wise

مَا خَلَقْنَا اَ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالَارْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَآ إِلَّا بِالْحَقِّ وَأَجَلٖ مُّسَمّىٗۖ وَالذِينَ كَفَرُواْ عَمَّآ أُنذِرُواْ مُعْرِضُونَۖ ﰁ

Mâ khalaqnâ ssamâwâti walarda wamâ baynahumâ illâ bilhaqqi wa'ajalim musamman walladhîna kafarû ‘ammâ undhirû mu‘ridûn

Nous n'avons créé les cieux et la terre et ce qui est entre eux qu'en toute vérité et [pour] un terme fixé. Ceux qui ont mécru se détournent de ce dont ils ont été avertis

We did not create the heavens and earth and what is between them except in truth and [for] a specified term. But those who disbelieve, from that of which they are warned, are turning away

قُلَ اَرَٰٓيْتُم مَّا تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ اِ۬للَّهِ أَرُونِے مَاذَا خَلَقُواْ مِنَ اَ۬لَارْضِ أَمْ لَهُمْ شِرْكٞ فِے اِ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتِۖ اِ۪يتُونِے بِكِتَٰبٖ مِّن قَبْلِ هَٰذَآ أَوَ اَثَٰرَةٖ مِّنْ عِلْمٍ اِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَۖ ﰂ

Qula râytum mâ tad‘ûna min dûni llâhi arûnî mâdhâ khalaqû mina lardi am lahum shirkun fî ssamâwâti ytûnî bikitâbim min qabli hâdhâ awa thâratim min ‘ilmini n kuntum sâdiqîn

Dis: «Que pensez-vous de ceux que vous invoquez en dehors d'Allah? Montrez-moi donc ce qu'ils ont créé de la terre! Ou ont-ils dans les cieux une participation avec Dieu? Apportez-moi un Livre antérieur à celui-ci (le Coran) ou même un vestige d'une science, si vous êtes véridiques»

Say, [O Muhammad], "Have you considered that which you invoke besides Allah? Show me what they have created of the earth; or did they have partnership in [creation of] the heavens? Bring me a scripture [revealed] before this or a [remaining] trace of knowledge, if you should be truthful

وَمَنَ اَضَلُّ مِمَّنْ يَّدْعُواْ مِن دُونِ اِ۬للَّهِ مَن لَّا يَسْتَجِيبُ لَهُۥٓ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ اِ۬لْقِيَٰمَةِ وَهُمْ عَن دُعَآئِهِمْ غَٰفِلُونَۖ ﰃ

Wamana dallu mimmay yad‘û min dûni llâhi mal lâ yastajîbu lahû ilâ yawmi lqiyâmati wahum ‘an du‘â'ihim ghâfilûn

Et qui est plus égaré que celui qui invoque en dehors d'Allah, et que la vie ne saura lui répondre jusqu'au Jour de la Résurrection? Et elles [leurs divinités] sont indifférentes à leur invocation

And who is more astray than he who invokes besides Allah those who will not respond to him until the Day of Resurrection, and they, of their invocation, are unaware

وَإِذَا حُشِرَ اَ۬لنَّاسُ كَانُواْ لَهُمُۥٓ أَعْدَآءٗ وَكَانُواْ بِعِبَادَتِهِمْ كٰ۪فِرِينَۖ ﰄ

Wa'idhâ hushira nnâsu kânû lahumû a‘dâ'an wakânû bi‘ibâdatihim kêfirîn

Et quand les gens seront rassemblés [pour le Jugement] elles seront leurs ennemies et nieront leur adoration [pour elles]

And when the people are gathered [that Day], they [who were invoked] will be enemies to them, and they will be deniers of their worship

وَإِذَا تُتْل۪ىٰ عَلَيْهِمُۥٓ ءَايَٰتُنَا بَيِّنَٰتٖ قَالَ اَ۬لذِينَ كَفَرُواْ لِلْحَقِّ لَمَّا جَآءَهُمْ هَٰذَا سِحْرٞ مُّبِينٌۖ ﰅ

Wa'idhâ tutlê ‘alayhimû âyâtunâ bayyinâtin qâla lladhîna kafarû lilhaqqi lammâ jâ'ahum hâdhâ sihrum mubîn

Et quand on leur récite Nos versets bien clairs, ceux qui ont mécru disent à propos de la vérité, une fois venue à eux: «C'est de la magie manifeste»

And when Our verses are recited to them as clear evidences, those who disbelieve say of the truth when it has come to them, "This is obvious magic

اَمْ يَقُولُونَ اَ۪فْتَر۪يٰهُۖ قُلِ اِنِ اِ۪فْتَرَيْتُهُۥ فَلَا تَمْلِكُونَ لِے مِنَ اَ۬للَّهِ شَئْاًۖ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا تُفِيضُونَ فِيهِۖ كَف۪ىٰ بِهِۦ شَهِيداَۢ بَيْنِے وَبَيْنَكُمْۖ وَهُوَ اَ۬لْغَفُورُ اُ۬لرَّحِيمُۖ ﰆ

Am yaqûlûna ftarêhu quli ni ftaraytuhû falâ tamlikûna lî mina llâhi shay'an huwa a‘lamu bimâ tufîdûna fîhi kafê bihî shahîdam baynî wabaynakum wahuwa lghafûru rrahîm

Ou bien ils disent: «Il l'a inventé!» Dis: «Si je l'ai inventé alors vous ne pourrez rien pour moi contre [la punition] d'Allah. Il sait parfaitement ce que vous propagez (en calomnies contre le Coran): Allah est suffisant comme témoin entre moi et vous. Et c'est Lui le Pardonneur, le Très Miséricordieux»

Or do they say, "He has invented it?" Say, "If I have invented it, you will not possess for me [the power of protection] from Allah at all. He is most knowing of that in which you are involved. Sufficient is He as Witness between me and you, and He is the Forgiving the Merciful

قُلْ مَا كُنتُ بِدْعاٗ مِّنَ اَ۬لرُّسُلِ وَمَآ أَدْرِے مَا يُفْعَلُ بِے وَلَا بِكُمُۥٓۖ إِنَ اَتَّبِعُ إِلَّا مَا يُوح۪ىٰٓ إِلَيَّۖ وَمَآ أَنَا إِلَّا نَذِيرٞ مُّبِينٞۖ ﰇ

Qul mâ kuntu bid‘am mina rrusuli wamâ adrî mâ yuf‘alu bî walâ bikumû ina ttabi‘u illâ mâ yûhê ilayya wamâ anâ illâ nadhîrum mubîn

Dis: «Je ne suis pas une innovation parmi les messagers; et je ne sais pas ce que l'on fera de moi, ni de vous. Je ne fais que suivre ce qui m'est révélé; et je ne suis qu'un avertisseur clair»

Say, "I am not something original among the messengers, nor do I know what will be done with me or with you. I only follow that which is revealed to me, and I am not but a clear warner

قُلَ اَرَٰٓيْتُمُۥٓ إِن كَانَ مِنْ عِندِ اِ۬للَّهِ وَكَفَرْتُم بِهِۦ وَشَهِدَ شَاهِدٞ مِّنۢ بَنِےٓ إِسْرَآءِيلَ عَلَىٰ مِثْلِهِۦ فَـَٔامَنَ وَاسْتَكْبَرْتُمُۥٓۖ إِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ لَا يَهْدِے اِ۬لْقَوْمَ اَ۬لظَّٰلِمِينَۖ ﰈ

Qula râytumû in kâna min ‘indi llâhi wakafartum bihî washahida shâhidum mim banî isrâ'îla ‘alâ mithlihî fa'âmana wastakbartumû inna llâha lâ yahdî lqawma zzâlimîn

Dis: «Que direz-vous si [cette révélation s'avère] venir d'Allah et que vous n'y croyez pas qu'un témoin parmi les fils d'Israël en atteste la conformité [au Pentateuque] et y croit pendant que vous, vous le repoussez avec orgueil... En vérité Allah ne guide pas les gens injustes!»

Say, "Have you considered: if the Qur'an was from Allah, and you disbelieved in it while a witness from the Children of Israel has testified to something similar and believed while you were arrogant...?" Indeed, Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people

وَقَالَ اَ۬لذِينَ كَفَرُواْ لِلذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ لَوْ كَانَ خَيْراٗ مَّا سَبَقُونَآ إِلَيْهِۖ وَإِذْ لَمْ يَهْتَدُواْ بِهِۦ فَسَيَقُولُونَ هَٰذَآ إِفْكٞ قَدِيمٞۖ ﰉ

Waqâla lladhîna kafarû lilladhîna âmanû law kâna khayram mâ sabaqûnâ ilayhi wa'idh lam yahtadû bihî fasayaqûlûna hâdhâ ifkun qadîm

Et ceux qui ont mécru dirent à ceux qui ont cru: «Si ceci était un bien, ils (les pauvres) ne nous y auraient pas devancés». Et comme ils ne se seront pas laissés guider par lui ils diront: «Ce n'est qu'un vieux mensonge!»

And those who disbelieve say of those who believe, "If it had [truly] been good, they would not have preceded us to it." And when they are not guided by it, they will say, "This is an ancient falsehood

وَمِن قَبْلِهِۦ كِتَٰبُ مُوس۪ىٰٓ إِمَاماٗ وَرَحْمَةٗۖ وَهَٰذَا كِتَٰبٞ مُّصَدِّقٞ لِّسَاناً عَرَبِيّاٗ لِّتُنذِرَ اَ۬لذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ وَبُشْر۪ىٰ لِلْمُحْسِنِينَۖ ﰊ

Wamin qablihî kitâbu mûsê imâman warahmatan wahâdhâ kitâbum musaddiqul lisânan ‘arabiyyal litundhira lladhîna zalamû wabushrê lilmuhsinîn

Et avant lui, il y avait le Livre de Moïse, comme guide et comme miséricorde. Et ceci est [un Livre] confirmateur, en langue arabe, pour avertir ceux qui font du tort et pour faire la bonne annonce aux bienfaisants

And before it was the scripture of Moses to lead and as a mercy. And this is a confirming Book in an Arabic tongue to warn those who have wronged and as good tidings to the doers of good

إِنَّ اَ۬لذِينَ قَالُواْ رَبُّنَا اَ۬للَّهُ ثُمَّ اَ۪سْتَقَٰمُواْ فَلَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَۖ ﰋ

Inna lladhîna qâlû rabbunâ llâhu thumma staqâmû falâ khawfun ‘alayhim walâ hum yahzanûn

Ceux qui disent: «Notre Seigneur est Allah» et qui ensuite se tiennent sur le droit chemin. Ils ne doivent avoir aucune crainte et ne seront point affligés

Indeed, those who have said, "Our Lord is Allah," and then remained on a right course - there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve

أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ أَصْحَٰبُ اُ۬لْجَنَّةِ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَاۖ جَزَآءَۢ بِمَا كَانُواْ يَعْمَلُونَۖ ﰌ

Ulâ'ika ashâbu ljannati khâlidîna fîhâ jazâ'am bimâ kânû ya‘malûn

Ceux-là sont les gens du Paradis où ils demeureront éternellement, en récompense de ce qu'ils faisaient

Those are the companions of Paradise, abiding eternally therein as reward for what they used to do

۞ وَوَصَّيْنَا اَ۬لِانسَٰنَ بِوَٰلِدَيْهِ حُسْناًۖ حَمَلَتْهُ أُمُّهُۥ كَرْهاٗ وَوَضَعَتْهُ كَرْهاٗۖ وَحَمْلُهُۥ وَفِصَٰلُهُۥ ثَلَٰثُونَ شَهْراًۖ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا بَلَغَ أَشُدَّهُۥ وَبَلَغَ أَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةٗ قَالَ رَبِّ أَوْزِعْنِيَ أَنَ اَشْكُرَ نِعْمَتَكَ اَ۬لتِےٓ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيَّ وَعَلَىٰ وَٰلِدَيَّ وَأَنَ اَعْمَلَ صَٰلِحاٗ تَرْض۪يٰهُۖ وَأَصْلِحْ لِے فِے ذُرِّيَّتِےٓۖ إِنِّے تُبْتُ إِلَيْكَ وَإِنِّے مِنَ اَ۬لْمُسْلِمِينَۖ ﰍ

Wawassaynâ linsâna biwâlidayhi husnan hamalathu ummuhû karhan wawada‘athu karhan wahamluhû wafisâluhû thalâthûna shahran hattâ idhâ balagha ashuddahû wabalagha arba‘îna sanatan qâla rabbi awzi‘niya ana shkura ni‘mataka llatî an‘amta ‘alayya wa‘alâ wâlidayya wa'ana ‘mala sâlihan tardêhu wa'aslih lî fî dhurriyyatî innî tubtu ilayka wa'innî mina lmuslimîn

Et Nous avons enjoint à l'homme de la bonté envers ses père et mère: sa mère l'a péniblement porté et en a péniblement accouché; et sa gestation et sevrage durent trente mois; puis quand il atteint ses pleines forces et atteint quarante ans, il dit: «O Seigneur! Inspire-moi pour que je rende grâce au bienfait dont Tu m'as comblé ainsi qu'à mes père et mère, et pour que je fasse une bonne œuvre que Tu agrées. Et fais que ma postérité soit de moralité saine. Je me repens à Toi et je suis du nombre des Soumis»

And We have enjoined upon man, to his parents, good treatment. His mother carried him with hardship and gave birth to him with hardship, and his gestation and weaning [period] is thirty months. [He grows] until, when he reaches maturity and reaches [the age of] forty years, he says, "My Lord, enable me to be grateful for Your favor which You have bestowed upon me and upon my parents and to work righteousness of which You will approve and make righteous for me my offspring. Indeed, I have repented to You, and indeed, I am of the Muslims

أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ اَ۬لذِينَ يُتَقَبَّلُ عَنْهُمُۥٓ أَحْسَنُ مَا عَمِلُواْ وَيُتَجَاوَزُ عَن سَيِّـَٔاتِهِمْ فِےٓ أَصْحَٰبِ اِ۬لْجَنَّةِۖ وَعْدَ اَ۬لصِّدْقِ اِ۬لذِے كَانُواْ يُوعَدُونَۖ ﰎ

Ulâ'ika lladhîna yutaqabbalu ‘anhumû ahsanu mâ ‘amilû wayutajâwazu ‘an sayyi'âtihim fî ashâbi ljannati wa‘da ssidqi lladhî kânû yû‘adûn

Ce sont ceux-là dont Nous acceptons le meilleur de ce qu'ils œuvrent et passons sur leurs méfaits, (ils seront) parmi les gens du Paradis, selon la promesse véridique qui leur était faite

Those are the ones from whom We will accept the best of what they did and overlook their misdeeds, [their being] among the companions of Paradise. [That is] the promise of truth which they had been promised

وَالذِے قَالَ لِوَٰلِدَيْهِ أُفّٖ لَّكُمَآ أَتَعِدَٰنِنِيَ أَنُ ا۟خْرَجَ وَقَدْ خَلَتِ اِ۬لْقُرُونُ مِن قَبْلِے وَهُمَا يَسْتَغِيثَٰنِ اِ۬للَّهَ وَيْلَكَ ءَامِنِ اِنَّ وَعْدَ اَ۬للَّهِ حَقّٞ فَيَقُولُ مَا هَٰذَآ إِلَّآ أَسَٰطِيرُ اُ۬لَاوَّلِينَۖ ﰏ

Walladhî qâla liwâlidayhi uffil lakumâ ata‘idâniniya anu ukhraja waqad khalati lqurûnu min qablî wahumâ yastaghîthâni llâha waylaka âmini nna wa‘da llâhi haqqun fayaqûlu mâ hâdhâ illâ asâtîru lawwalîn

Quant à celui qui dit à ses père et mère: «Fi de vous deux! Me promettez-vous qu'on me fera sortir de terre alors que des générations avant moi ont passé?» Et les deux, implorant le secours d'Allah, [lui dirent]: «Malheur à toi! Crois. Car la promesse d'Allah est véridique». Mais il (répond): «Ce ne sont que des contes d'Anciens»

But one who says to his parents, "Uff to you; do you promise me that I will be brought forth [from the earth] when generations before me have already passed on [into oblivion]?" while they call to Allah for help [and to their son], "Woe to you! Believe! Indeed, the promise of Allah is truth." But he says, "This is not but legends of the former people

أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ اَ۬لذِينَ حَقَّ عَلَيْهِمُ اُ۬لْقَوْلُ فِےٓ أُمَمٖ قَدْ خَلَتْ مِن قَبْلِهِم مِّنَ اَ۬لْجِنِّ وَالِانسِۖ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُواْ خَٰسِرِينَۖ ﰐ

Ulâ'ika lladhîna haqqa ‘alayhimu lqawlu fî umamin qad khalat min qablihim mina ljinni walinsi innahum kânû khâsirîn

Ce sont ceux-là qui ont mérité la sentence [prescrite] en même temps que des communautés déjà passées avant eux parmi les djinns et les hommes. Ils étaient réellement perdants

Those are the ones upon whom the word has come into effect, [who will be] among nations which had passed on before them of jinn and men. Indeed, they [all] were losers

وَلِكُلّٖ دَرَجَٰتٞ مِّمَّا عَمِلُواْۖ وَلِنُوَفِّيَهُمُۥٓ أَعْمَٰلَهُمْ وَهُمْ لَا يُظْلَمُونَۖ ﰑ

Walikullin darajâtum mimmâ ‘amilû walinuwaffiyahumû a‘mâlahum wahum lâ yuzlamûn

Et il y a des rangs [de mérite] pour chacun, selon ce qu'ils ont fait afin qu'Allah leur attribue la pleine récompense de leurs œuvres; et ils ne seront point lésés

And for all there are degrees [of reward and punishment] for what they have done, and [it is] so that He may fully compensate them for their deeds, and they will not be wronged

وَيَوْمَ يُعْرَضُ اُ۬لذِينَ كَفَرُواْ عَلَى اَ۬لنّ۪ارِ أَذْهَبْتُمْ طَيِّبَٰتِكُمْ فِے حَيَاتِكُمُ اُ۬لدُّنْي۪ا وَاسْتَمْتَعْتُم بِهَاۖ فَالْيَوْمَ تُجْزَوْنَ عَذَابَ اَ۬لْهُونِ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَسْتَكْبِرُونَ فِے اِ۬لَارْضِ بِغَيْرِ اِ۬لْحَقِّ وَبِمَا كُنتُمْ تَفْسُقُونَۖ ﰒ

Wayawma yu‘radu lladhîna kafarû ‘alâ nnêri adhhabtum tayyibâtikum fî hayâtikumu ddunyê wastamta‘tum bihâ falyawma tujzawna ‘adhâba lhûni bimâ kuntum tastakbirûna fî lardi bighayri lhaqqi wabimâ kuntum tafsuqûn

Et le jour où ceux qui ont mécru seront présentés au Feu (il leur sera dit): «Vous avez dissipé vos [biens] excellents et vous en avez joui pleinement durant votre vie sur terre: on vous rétribue donc aujourd'hui du châtiment avilissant, pour l'orgueil dont vous vous enfliez injustement sur terre, et pour votre perversité

And the Day those who disbelieved are exposed to the Fire [it will be said], "You exhausted your pleasures during your worldly life and enjoyed them, so this Day you will be awarded the punishment of [extreme] humiliation because you were arrogant upon the earth without right and because you were defiantly disobedient

۞ وَاذْكُرَ اَخَا عَادٍ اِذَ اَنذَرَ قَوْمَهُۥ بِالَاحْقَافِ وَقَدْ خَلَتِ اِ۬لنُّذُرُ مِنۢ بَيْنِ يَدَيْهِ وَمِنْ خَلْفِهِۦٓ أَلَّا تَعْبُدُوٓاْ إِلَّا اَ۬للَّهَۖ إِنِّيَ أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٖۖ ﰓ

Wadhkura khâ ‘âdini dha ndhara qawmahû bilahqâfi waqad khalati nnudhuru mim bayni yadayhi wamin khalfihî allâ ta‘budû illâ llâha inniya akhâfu ‘alaykum ‘adhâba yawmin ‘azîm

Et rappelle-toi le frère des 'Aad (Hûd) quand il avertit son peuple à Al-Ahqâf - alors qu'avant et après lui, des avertisseurs sont passés - [en disant]: «N'adorez qu'Allah. Je crains pour vous le châtiment d'un jour terrible»

And mention, [O Muhammad], the brother of 'Aad, when he warned his people in the [region of] al-Ahqaf - and warners had already passed on before him and after him - [saying], "Do not worship except Allah. Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible day

قَالُوٓاْ أَجِئْتَنَا لِتَافِكَنَا عَنَ اٰلِهَتِنَا فَاتِنَا بِمَا تَعِدُنَآ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ اَ۬لصَّٰدِقِينَۖ ﰔ

Qâlû ajî'tanâ litâfikanâ ‘ana âlihatinâ fâtinâ bimâ ta‘idunâ in kunta mina ssâdiqîn

Ils dirent: «Es-tu venu à nous pour nous détourner de nos divinités? Eh bien, apporte-nous ce que tu nous promets si tu es du nombre des véridiques»

They said, "Have you come to delude us away from our gods? Then bring us what you promise us, if you should be of the truthful

قَالَ إِنَّمَا اَ۬لْعِلْمُ عِندَ اَ۬للَّهِ وَأُبَلِّغُكُم مَّآ أُرْسِلْتُ بِهِۦ وَلَٰكِنِّيَ أَر۪يٰكُمْ قَوْماٗ تَجْهَلُونَۖ ﰕ

Qâla innamâ l‘ilmu ‘inda llâhi wa'uballighukum mâ ursiltu bihî walâkinniya arêkum qawman tajhalûn

Il dit: «La science n'est qu'auprès d'Allah. Je vous transmets cependant le message avec lequel j'ai été envoyé. Mais je vois que vous êtes des gens ignorants»

He said, "Knowledge [of its time] is only with Allah, and I convey to you that with which I was sent; but I see you [to be] a people behaving ignorantly

فَلَمَّا رَأَوْهُ عَارِضاٗ مُّسْتَقْبِلَ أَوْدِيَتِهِمْ قَالُواْ هَٰذَا عَارِضٞ مُّمْطِرُنَاۖ بَلْ هُوَ مَا اَ۪سْتَعْجَلْتُم بِهِۦۖ رِيحٞ فِيهَا عَذَابٌ اَلِيمٞۖ ﰖ

Falammâ ra'awhu ‘âridam mustaqbila awdiyatihim qâlû hâdhâ ‘âridum mumtirunâ bal huwa mâ sta‘jaltum bihî rîhun fîhâ ‘adhâbuna lîm

Puis, voyant un nuage se dirigeant vers leurs vallées ils dirent; «Voici un nuage qui nous apporte de la pluie». Au contraire! c'est cela même que vous cherchiez à hâter: C'est un vent qui contient un châtiment douloureux

And when they saw it as a cloud approaching their valleys, they said, "This is a cloud bringing us rain!" Rather, it is that for which you were impatient: a wind, within it a painful punishment

تُدَمِّرُ كُلَّ شَےْءِۢ بِأَمْرِ رَبِّهَاۖ فَأَصْبَحُواْ لَا تَر۪ىٰٓ إِلَّا مَسَٰكِنَهُمْۖ كَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِے اِ۬لْقَوْمَ اَ۬لْمُجْرِمِينَۖ ﰗ

Tudammiru kulla shay'im bi'amri rabbihâ fa'asbahû lâ tarê illâ masâkinahum kadhâlika najzî lqawma lmujrimîn

détruisant tout, par le commandement de son Seigneur. Puis le lendemain on ne voyait plus que leurs demeures. Ainsi rétribuons-Nous les gens criminels

Destroying everything by command of its Lord. And they became so that nothing was seen [of them] except their dwellings. Thus do We recompense the criminal people

وَلَقَدْ مَكَّنَّٰهُمْ فِيمَآ إِن مَّكَّنَّٰكُمْ فِيهِ وَجَعَلْنَا لَهُمْ سَمْعاٗ وَأَبْصَٰراٗ وَأَفْـِٕدَةٗۖ فَمَآ أَغْن۪ىٰ عَنْهُمْ سَمْعُهُمْ وَلَآ أَبْصَٰرُهُمْ وَلَآ أَفْـِٕدَتُهُم مِّن شَےْءٍ اِذْ كَانُواْ يَجْحَدُونَ بِـَٔايَٰتِ اِ۬للَّهِۖ وَحَاقَ بِهِم مَّا كَانُواْ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَۖ ﰘ

Walaqad makkannâhum fîmâ im makkannâkum fîhi waja‘alnâ lahum sam‘an wa'absâran wa'af'idatan famâ aghnê ‘anhum sam‘uhum walâ absâruhum walâ af'idatuhum min shay'ini dh kânû yajhadûna bi'âyâti llâhi wahâqa bihim mâ kânû bihî yastahzi'ûn

En effet, Nous les avions consolidés dans des positions que Nous ne vous avons pas données. Et Nous leur avions assigné une ouïe, des yeux et des cœurs, mais ni leur ouïe, ni leurs yeux, ni leurs cœurs ne leur ont profité en quoi que ce soit, parce qu'ils niaient les signes d'Allah. Et ce dont ils se moquaient les cerna

And We had certainly established them in such as We have not established you, and We made for them hearing and vision and hearts. But their hearing and vision and hearts availed them not from anything [of the punishment] when they were [continually] rejecting the signs of Allah; and they were enveloped by what they used to ridicule

وَلَقَدَ اَهْلَكْنَا مَا حَوْلَكُم مِّنَ اَ۬لْقُر۪ىٰ وَصَرَّفْنَا اَ۬لَايَٰتِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَۖ ﰙ

Walaqada hlaknâ mâ hawlakum mina lqurê wasarrafnâ layâti la‘allahum yarji‘ûn

Nous avons assurément fait périr les cités autour de vous; et Nous avons diversifié les signes afin qu'ils reviennent (de leur mécréance)

And We have already destroyed what surrounds you of [those] cities, and We have diversified the signs [or verses] that perhaps they might return [from disbelief]

فَلَوْلَا نَصَرَهُمُ اُ۬لذِينَ اَ۪تَّخَذُواْ مِن دُونِ اِ۬للَّهِ قُرْبَاناً اٰلِهَةَۢۖ بَلْ ضَلُّواْ عَنْهُمْۖ وَذَٰلِكَ إِفْكُهُمْ وَمَا كَانُواْ يَفْتَرُونَۖ ﰚ

Falawlâ nasarahumu lladhîna ttakhadhû min dûni llâhi qurbânan âlihatam bal dallû ‘anhum wadhâlika ifkuhum wamâ kânû yaftarûn

Pourquoi donc ne les secourent pas, ceux qu'ils avaient pris, en dehors d'Allah, comme divinités pour [soi-disant] les rapprocher de Lui? Ceux-ci, au contraire, les abandonnèrent; telle est leur imposture et voilà ce qu'ils inventaient comme mensonges

Then why did those they took besides Allah as deities by which to approach [Him] not aid them? But they had strayed from them. And that was their falsehood and what they were inventing

وَإِذْ صَرَفْنَآ إِلَيْكَ نَفَراٗ مِّنَ اَ۬لْجِنِّ يَسْتَمِعُونَ اَ۬لْقُرْءَانَ فَلَمَّا حَضَرُوهُ قَالُوٓاْ أَنصِتُواْۖ فَلَمَّا قُضِيَ وَلَّوِاْ اِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِم مُّنذِرِينَۖ ﰛ

Wa'idh sarafnâ ilayka nafaram mina ljinni yastami‘ûna lqur'âna falammâ hadarûhu qâlû ansitû falammâ qudiya wallawi lâ qawmihim mundhirîn

(Rappelle-toi) lorsque Nous dirigeâmes vers toi une troupe de djinns pour qu'ils écoutent le Coran. Quand ils assistèrent [à sa lecture] ils dirent: «Ecoutez attentivement»... Puis, quand ce fut terminé, ils retournèrent à leur peuple en avertisseurs

And [mention, O Muhammad], when We directed to you a few of the jinn, listening to the Qur'an. And when they attended it, they said, "Listen quietly." And when it was concluded, they went back to their people as warners

قَالُواْ يَٰقَوْمَنَآ إِنَّا سَمِعْنَا كِتَٰباً ا۟نزِلَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مُوس۪ىٰ مُصَدِّقاٗ لِّمَا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ يَهْدِےٓ إِلَى اَ۬لْحَقِّ وَإِلَىٰ طَرِيقٖ مُّسْتَقِيمٖۖ ﰜ

Qâlû yâqawmanâ innâ sami‘nâ kitâban unzila mim ba‘di mûsê musaddiqal limâ bayna yadayhi yahdî ilâ lhaqqi wa'ilâ tarîqim mustaqîm

Ils dirent: «O notre peuple! Nous venons d'entendre un Livre qui a été descendu après Moïse, confirmant ce qui l'a précédé. Il guide vers la vérité et vers un chemin droit

They said, "O our people, indeed we have heard a [recited] Book revealed after Moses confirming what was before it which guides to the truth and to a straight path

يَٰقَوْمَنَآ أَجِيبُواْ دَاعِيَ اَ۬للَّهِ وَءَامِنُواْ بِهِۦ يَغْفِرْ لَكُم مِّن ذُنُوبِكُمْ وَيُجِرْكُم مِّنْ عَذَابٍ اَلِيمٖۖ ﰝ

Yâqawmanâ ajîbû dâ‘iya llâhi wa'âminû bihî yaghfir lakum min dhunûbikum wayujirkum min ‘adhâbina lîm

O notre peuple! Répondez au prédicateur d'Allah et croyez en lui. Il [Allah] vous pardonnera une partie de vos péchés et vous protègera contre un châtiment douloureux

O our people, respond to the Messenger of Allah and believe in him; Allah will forgive for you your sins and protect you from a painful punishment

وَمَن لَّا يُجِبْ دَاعِيَ اَ۬للَّهِ فَلَيْسَ بِمُعْجِزٖ فِے اِ۬لَارْضِ وَلَيْسَ لَهُۥ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ أَوْلِيَآءُۖ اوْلَٰٓئِكَ فِے ضَلَٰلٖ مُّبِينٍۖ ﰞ

Wamal lâ yujib dâ‘iya llâhi falaysa bimu‘jizin fî lardi walaysa lahû min dûnihî awliyâ'u âwlâ'ika fî dalâlim mubîn

Et quiconque ne répond pas au prédicateur d'Allah ne saura échapper au pouvoir [d'Allah] sur terre. Et il n'aura pas de protecteurs en dehors de Lui. Ceux-là sont dans un égarement évident

But he who does not respond to the Caller of Allah will not cause failure [to Him] upon earth, and he will not have besides Him any protectors. Those are in manifest error

۞ اَوَلَمْ يَرَوَاْ اَنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ اَ۬لذِے خَلَقَ اَ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالَارْضَ وَلَمْ يَعْيَ بِخَلْقِهِنَّ بِقَٰدِرٍ عَلَىٰٓ أَنْ يُّحْـِۧيَ اَ۬لْمَوْت۪ىٰ بَل۪ىٰٓۖ إِنَّهُۥ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَےْءٖ قَدِيرٞۖ ﰟ

Awalam yarawa nna llâha lladhî khalaqa ssamâwâti walarda walam ya‘ya bikhalqihinna biqâdirin ‘alâ ay yuhiya lmawtê balê innahû ‘alâ kulli shay'in qadîr

Ne voient-ils pas qu'Allah qui a créé les cieux et la terre, et qui n'a pas été fatigué par leur création, est capable en vérité de redonner la vie aux morts? Mais si. Il est certes Omnipotent

Do they not see that Allah, who created the heavens and earth and did not fail in their creation, is able to give life to the dead? Yes. Indeed, He is over all things competent

وَيَوْمَ يُعْرَضُ اُ۬لذِينَ كَفَرُواْ عَلَى اَ۬لنّ۪ارِ أَلَيْسَ هَٰذَا بِالْحَقِّۖ قَالُواْ بَل۪ىٰ وَرَبِّنَاۖ قَالَ فَذُوقُواْ اُ۬لْعَذَابَ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَكْفُرُونَۖ ﰠ

Wayawma yu‘radu lladhîna kafarû ‘alâ nnêri alaysa hâdhâ bilhaqqi qâlû balê warabbinâ qâla fadhûqû l‘adhâba bimâ kuntum takfurûn

Et le jour où seront présentés au Feu ceux qui ont mécru (on leur dira): «Ceci n'est-il pas la vérité?» Ils diront: «Mais si, par notre Seigneur». Il dira: «Eh bien, goûtez le châtiment pour votre mécréance»

And the Day those who disbelieved are exposed to the Fire [it will be said], "Is this not the truth?" They will say, "Yes, by our Lord." He will say, "Then taste the punishment because you used to disbelieve

فَاصْبِرْ كَمَا صَبَرَ أُوْلُواْ اُ۬لْعَزْمِ مِنَ اَ۬لرُّسُلِ وَلَا تَسْتَعْجِلۖ لَّهُمْ كَأَنَّهُمْ يَوْمَ يَرَوْنَ مَا يُوعَدُونَ لَمْ يَلْبَثُوٓاْ إِلَّا سَاعَةٗ مِّن نَّه۪ارِۢ بَلَٰغٞۖ فَهَلْ يُهْلَكُ إِلَّا اَ۬لْقَوْمُ اُ۬لْفَٰسِقُونَۖ ﰡ

Fasbir kamâ sabara ulû l‘azmi mina rrusuli walâ tasta‘jil lahum ka'annahum yawma yarawna mâ yû‘adûna lam yalbathû illâ sâ‘atam min nahêrim balâghun fahal yuhlaku illâ lqawmu lfâsiqûn

Endure (Muhammad) donc, comme ont enduré les messagers doués de fermeté; et ne te montre pas trop pressé de les voir subir [leur châtiment]. Le jour où ils verront ce qui leur est promis, il leur semblera qu'ils n'étaient restés [sur terre] qu'une heure d'un jour. Voilà une communication. Qui sera donc anéanti sinon les gens pervers

So be patient, [O Muhammad], as were those of determination among the messengers and do not be impatient for them. It will be - on the Day they see that which they are promised - as though they had not remained [in the world] except an hour of a day. [This is] notification. And will [any] be destroyed except the defiantly disobedient people
