أَلَٓر۪ۖ تِلْكَ ءَايَٰتُ اُ۬لْكِتَٰبِ وَقُرْءَانٖ مُّبِينٖۖ ﰀ

Alif lâm râ tilka âyâtu lkitâbi waqur'ânim mubîn

Alif, Lâm, Râ. Voici les versets du Livre et d'une Lecture explicite

Alif, Lam, Ra. These are the verses of the Book and a clear Qur'an

رُّبَمَا يَوَدُّ اُ۬لذِينَ كَفَرُواْ لَوْ كَانُواْ مُسْلِمِينَۖ ﰁ

Rubamâ yawaddu lladhîna kafarû law kânû muslimîn

[Le Jour du Jugement Dernier] les mécréants voudraient avoir été Musulmans [soumis]

Perhaps those who disbelieve will wish that they had been Muslims

ذَرْهُمْ يَاكُلُواْ وَيَتَمَتَّعُواْ وَيُلْهِهِمُ اُ۬لَامَلُۖ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَۖ ﰂ

Dharhum yâkulû wayatamatta‘û wayulhihimu lamalu fasawfa ya‘lamûn

Laisse-les manger, jouir (un temps), et être distraits par l'espoir; car bientôt ils sauront

Let them eat and enjoy themselves and be diverted by [false] hope, for they are going to know

وَمَآ أَهْلَكْنَا مِن قَرْيَةٍ اِلَّا وَلَهَا كِتَابٞ مَّعْلُومٞۖ ﰃ

Wamâ ahlaknâ min qaryatini llâ walahâ kitâbum ma‘lûm

Or Nous ne détruisons aucune cité sans qu'elle n'ait eu [un terme fixé en] une Ecriture connue

And We did not destroy any city but that for it was a known decree

مَّا تَسْبِقُ مِنُ ا۟مَّةٍ اَجَلَهَا وَمَا يَسْتَٰخِرُونَۖ ﰄ

Mâ tasbiqu minu ummatina jalahâ wamâ yastâkhirûn

Nulle communauté ne devance son terme, ni ne le retarde

No nation will precede its term, nor will they remain thereafter

وَقَالُواْ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا اَ۬لذِے نُزِّلَ عَلَيْهِ اِ۬لذِّكْرُ إِنَّكَ لَمَجْنُونٞ ﰅ

Waqâlû yâ'ayyuhâ lladhî nuzzila ‘alayhi dhdhikru innaka lamajnûn

Et ils (les mecquois) disent: «O toi sur qui on a fait descendre le Coran, tu es certainement fou

And they say, "O you upon whom the message has been sent down, indeed you are mad

لَّوْمَا تَاتِينَا بِالْمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ اَ۬لصَّٰدِقِينَۖ ﰆ

Lawmâ tâtînâ bilmalâ'ikati in kunta mina ssâdiqîn

Pourquoi ne nous es-tu pas venu avec les Anges, si tu es du nombre des véridiques?»

Why do you not bring us the angels, if you should be among the truthful

مَا تَنَزَّلُ اُ۬لْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ إِلَّا بِالْحَقِّۖ وَمَا كَانُوٓاْ إِذاٗ مُّنظَرِينَۖ ﰇ

Mâ tanazzalu lmalâ'ikatu illâ bilhaqqi wamâ kânû idham munzarîn

Nous ne faisons descendre les Anges qu'avec la vérité; et alors, il ne leur sera pas accordé de répit [à ces impies]

We do not send down the angels except with truth; and the disbelievers would not then be reprieved

إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا اَ۬لذِّكْرَۖ وَإِنَّا لَهُۥ لَحَٰفِظُونَۖ ﰈ

Innâ nahnu nazzalnâ dhdhikra wa'innâ lahû lahâfizûn

En vérité c'est Nous qui avons fait descendre le Coran, et c'est Nous qui en sommes gardien

Indeed, it is We who sent down the Qur'an and indeed, We will be its guardian

وَلَقَدَ اَرْسَلْنَا مِن قَبْلِكَ فِے شِيَعِ اِ۬لَاوَّلِينَۖ ﰉ

Walaqada rsalnâ min qablika fî shiya‘i lawwalîn

Et nous avons certes envoyé, avant toi, [des Messagers] parmi les peuples des Anciens

And We had certainly sent [messengers] before you, [O Muhammad], among the sects of the former peoples

وَمَا يَاتِيهِم مِّن رَّسُولٍ اِلَّا كَانُواْ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَۖ ﰊ

Wamâ yâtîhim mir rasûlini llâ kânû bihî yastahzi'ûn

Et pas un Messager ne leur est venu sans qu'ils s'en soient moqués

And no messenger would come to them except that they ridiculed him

كَذَٰلِكَ نَسْلُكُهُۥ فِے قُلُوبِ اِ۬لْمُجْرِمِينَ ﰋ

Kadhâlika naslukuhû fî qulûbi lmujrimîn

C'est ainsi que Nous faisons pénétrer (la mécréance) dans les cœurs des coupables

Thus do We insert denial into the hearts of the criminals

لَا يُومِنُونَ بِهِۦ وَقَدْ خَلَتْ سُنَّةُ اُ۬لَاوَّلِينَۖ ﰌ

Lâ yûminûna bihî waqad khalat sunnatu lawwalîn

Ils ne croiront pas en lui [le Messager ou le Coran] bien que se soit accompli le sort traditionnel des anciens

They will not believe in it, while there has already occurred the precedent of the former peoples

وَلَوْ فَتَحْنَا عَلَيْهِم بَاباٗ مِّنَ اَ۬لسَّمَآءِ فَظَلُّواْ فِيهِ يَعْرُجُونَ ﰍ

Walaw fatahnâ ‘alayhim bâbam mina ssamâ'i fazallû fîhi ya‘rujûn

Et même si Nous ouvrions pour eux une porte du ciel, et qu'ils pussent y monter

And [even] if We opened to them a gate from the heaven and they continued therein to ascend

لَقَالُوٓاْ إِنَّمَا سُكِّرَتَ اَبْصَٰرُنَا بَلْ نَحْنُ قَوْمٞ مَّسْحُورُونَۖ ﰎ

Laqâlû innamâ sukkirata bsârunâ bal nahnu qawmum mashûrûn

ils diraient: «Vraiment nos yeux sont voilés. Mais plutôt, nous sommes des gens ensorcelés»

They would say, "Our eyes have only been dazzled. Rather, we are a people affected by magic

وَلَقَدْ جَعَلْنَا فِے اِ۬لسَّمَآءِ بُرُوجاٗ وَزَيَّنَّٰهَا لِلنَّٰظِرِينَ ﰏ

Walaqad ja‘alnâ fî ssamâ'i burûjan wazayyannâhâ linnâzirîn

Certes Nous avons placé dans le ciel des constellations et Nous l'avons embelli pour ceux qui regardent

And We have placed within the heaven great stars and have beautified it for the observers

وَحَفِظْنَٰهَا مِن كُلِّ شَيْطَٰنٖ رَّجِيمٍ ﰐ

Wahafiznâhâ min kulli shaytânir rajîm

Et Nous l'avons protégé contre tout diable banni

And We have protected it from every devil expelled [from the mercy of Allah]

اِلَّا مَنِ اِ۪سْتَرَقَ اَ۬لسَّمْعَ فَأَتْبَعَهُۥ شِهَابٞ مُّبِينٞۖ ﰑ

Illâ mani staraqa ssam‘a fa'atba‘ahû shihâbum mubîn

A moins que l'un d'eux parvienne subrepticement à écouter, une flamme brillante alors le poursuit

Except one who steals a hearing and is pursued by a clear burning flame

وَالَارْضَ مَدَدْنَٰهَا وَأَلْقَيْنَا فِيهَا رَوَٰسِيَ وَأَنۢبَتْنَا فِيهَا مِن كُلِّ شَےْءٖ مَّوْزُونٖ ﰒ

Walarda madadnâhâ wa'alqaynâ fîhâ rawâsiya wa'ambatnâ fîhâ min kulli shay'im mawzûn

Et quant à la terre, Nous l'avons étalée et y avons placé des montagnes (immobiles) et y avons fait pousser toute chose harmonieusement proportionnée

And the earth - We have spread it and cast therein firmly set mountains and caused to grow therein [something] of every well-balanced thing

وَجَعَلْنَا لَكُمْ فِيهَا مَعَٰيِشَۖ وَمَن لَّسْتُمْ لَهُۥ بِرَٰزِقِينَۖ ﰓ

Waja‘alnâ lakum fîhâ ma‘âyisha wamal lastum lahû birâziqîn

Et Nous y avons placé des vivres pour vous, et (placé aussi pour vous) des êtres que vous ne nourrissez pas

And We have made for you therein means of living and [for] those for whom you are not providers

وَإِن مِّن شَےْءٍ اِلَّا عِندَنَا خَزَآئِنُهُۥۖ وَمَا نُنَزِّلُهُۥٓ إِلَّا بِقَدَرٖ مَّعْلُومٖۖ ﰔ

Wa'im min shay'ini llâ ‘indanâ khazâ'inuhû wamâ nunazziluhû illâ biqadarim ma‘lûm

Et il n'est rien dont Nous n'ayons les réserves et Nous ne le faisons descendre que dans une mesure déterminée

And there is not a thing but that with Us are its depositories, and We do not send it down except according to a known measure

۞ وَأَرْسَلْنَا اَ۬لرِّيَٰحَ لَوَٰقِحَ فَأَنزَلْنَا مِنَ اَ۬لسَّمَآءِ مَآءٗ فَأَسْقَيْنَٰكُمُوهُ وَمَآ أَنتُمْ لَهُۥ بِخَٰزِنِينَۖ ﰕ

Wa'arsalnâ rriyâha lawâqiha fa'anzalnâ mina ssamâ'i mâ'an fa'asqaynâkumûhu wamâ antum lahû bikhâzinîn

Et Nous envoyons les vents fécondants; et Nous faisons alors descendre du ciel une eau dont Nous vous abreuvons et que vous n'êtes pas en mesure de conserver

And We have sent the fertilizing winds and sent down water from the sky and given you drink from it. And you are not its retainers

وَإِنَّا لَنَحْنُ نُحْيِۦ وَنُمِيتُ وَنَحْنُ اُ۬لْوَٰرِثُونَۖ ﰖ

Wa'innâ lanahnu nuhyî wanumîtu wanahnu lwârithûn

Et c'est bien Nous qui donnons la vie et donnons la mort, et c'est Nous qui sommes l'héritier [de tout]

And indeed, it is We who give life and cause death, and We are the Inheritor

وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْنَا اَ۬لْمُسْتَقْدِمِينَ مِنكُمْ وَلَقَدْ عَلِمْنَا اَ۬لْمُسْتَٰخِرِينَۖ ﰗ

Walaqad ‘alimnâ lmustaqdimîna minkum walaqad ‘alimnâ lmustâkhirîn

Et Nous connaissons certes ceux qui parmi vous ont avancé et Nous connaissons ceux qui tardent encore

And We have already known the preceding [generations] among you, and We have already known the later [ones to come]

وَإِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ يَحْشُرُهُمُۥٓۖ إِنَّهُۥ حَكِيمٌ عَلِيمٞۖ ﰘ

Wa'inna rabbaka huwa yahshuruhumû innahû hakîmun ‘alîm

Certes, c'est ton Seigneur qui les rassemblera. Car c'est Lui le Sage, l'Omniscient

And indeed, your Lord will gather them; indeed, He is Wise and Knowing

وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَا اَ۬لِانسَٰنَ مِن صَلْصَٰلٖ مِّنْ حَمَإٖ مَّسْنُونٖۖ ﰙ

Walaqad khalaqnâ linsâna min salsâlim min hama'im masnûn

Nous créâmes l'homme d'une argile crissante, extraite d'une boue malléable

And We did certainly create man out of clay from an altered black mud

وَالْجَآنَّ خَلَقْنَٰهُ مِن قَبْلُ مِن نّ۪ارِ اِ۬لسَّمُومِۖ ﰚ

Waljânna khalaqnâhu min qablu min nêri ssamûm

Et quant au djinn, Nous l'avions auparavant créé d'un feu d'une chaleur ardente

And the jinn We created before from scorching fire

وَإِذْ قَالَ رَبُّكَ لِلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ إِنِّے خَٰلِقُۢ بَشَراٗ مِّن صَلْصَٰلٖ مِّنْ حَمَإٖ مَّسْنُونٖ ﰛ

Wa'idh qâla rabbuka lilmalâ'ikati innî khâliqum basharam min salsâlim min hama'im masnûn

Et lorsque ton Seigneur dit aux Anges: «Je vais créer un homme d'argile crissante, extraite d'une boue malléable

And [mention, O Muhammad], when your Lord said to the angels, "I will create a human being out of clay from an altered black mud

فَإِذَا سَوَّيْتُهُۥ وَنَفَخْتُ فِيهِ مِن رُّوحِے فَقَعُواْ لَهُۥ سَٰجِدِينَۖ ﰜ

Fa'idhâ sawwaytuhû wanafakhtu fîhi mir rûhî faqa‘û lahû sâjidîn

et dès que Je l'aurai harmonieusement formé et lui aurai insufflé Mon souffle de vie, jetez-vous alors, prosternés devant lui»

And when I have proportioned him and breathed into him of My [created] soul, then fall down to him in prostration

فَسَجَدَ اَ۬لْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ كُلُّهُمُۥٓ أَجْمَعُونَ ﰝ

Fasajada lmalâ'ikatu kulluhumû ajma‘ûn

Alors, les Anges se prosternèrent tous ensemble

So the angels prostrated - all of them entirely

إِلَّآ إِبْلِيسَ أَب۪ىٰٓ أَنْ يَّكُونَ مَعَ اَ۬لسَّٰجِدِينَۖ ﰞ

Illâ iblîsa abê ay yakûna ma‘a ssâjidîn

excepté Iblis qui refusa d'être avec les prosternés

Except Iblees, he refused to be with those who prostrated

قَالَ يَٰٓإِبْلِيسُ مَا لَكَ أَلَّا تَكُونَ مَعَ اَ۬لسَّٰجِدِينَۖ ﰟ

Qâla yâ'iblîsu mâ laka allâ takûna ma‘a ssâjidîn

Alors [Allah] dit: «O Iblis, pourquoi n'es-tu pas au nombre des prosternés?»

[Allah] said, O Iblees, what is [the matter] with you that you are not with those who prostrate

قَالَ لَمَ اَكُن لِّأَسْجُدَ لِبَشَرٍ خَلَقْتَهُۥ مِن صَلْصَٰلٖ مِّنْ حَمَإٖ مَّسْنُونٖۖ ﰠ

Qâla lama kul li'asjuda libasharin khalaqtahû min salsâlim min hama'im masnûn

Il dit: «Je ne puis me prosterner devant un homme que Tu as créé d'argile crissante, extraite d'une boue malléable»

He said, "Never would I prostrate to a human whom You created out of clay from an altered black mud

قَالَ فَاخْرُجْ مِنْهَا فَإِنَّكَ رَجِيمٞ ﰡ

Qâla fakhruj minhâ fa'innaka rajîm

Et [Allah] dit: «Sors de là [du Paradis], car te voilà banni

[Allah] said, "Then get out of it, for indeed, you are expelled

وَإِنَّ عَلَيْكَ اَ۬للَّعْنَةَ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ اِ۬لدِّينِۖ ﰢ

Wa'inna ‘alayka lla‘nata ilâ yawmi ddîn

Et malédiction sur toi, jusqu'au Jour de la rétribution!»

And indeed, upon you is the curse until the Day of Recompense

قَالَ رَبِّ فَأَنظِرْنِےٓ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَۖ ﰣ

Qâla rabbi fa'anzirnî ilâ yawmi yub‘athûn

Il dit: «O mon Seigneur, donne-moi donc un délai jusqu'au jour où ils (les gens) seront ressuscités»

He said, "My Lord, then reprieve me until the Day they are resurrected

قَالَ فَإِنَّكَ مِنَ اَ۬لْمُنظَرِينَ ﰤ

Qâla fa'innaka mina lmunzarîn

[Allah] dit: «tu es de ceux à qui ce délai est accordé

[Allah] said, "So indeed, you are of those reprieved

إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ اِ۬لْوَقْتِ اِ۬لْمَعْلُومِۖ ﰥ

Ilâ yawmi lwaqti lma‘lûm

jusqu'au jour de l'instant connu» [d'Allah]

Until the Day of the time well-known

قَالَ رَبِّ بِمَآ أَغْوَيْتَنِے لَأُزَيِّنَنَّ لَهُمْ فِے اِ۬لَارْضِ وَلَأُغْوِيَنَّهُمُۥٓ أَجْمَعِينَ ﰦ

Qâla rabbi bimâ aghwaytanî la'uzayyinanna lahum fî lardi wala'ughwiyannahumû ajma‘în

Il dit: «O mon Seigneur, parce que Tu m'as induit en erreur, eh bien je leur enjoliverai la vie sur terre et les égarerai tous

[Iblees] said, "My Lord, because You have put me in error, I will surely make [disobedience] attractive to them on earth, and I will mislead them all

إِلَّا عِبَادَكَ مِنْهُمُ اُ۬لْمُخْلَصِينَۖ ﰧ

Illâ ‘ibâdaka minhumu lmukhlasîn

à l'exception, parmi eux, de Tes serviteurs élus.»

Except, among them, Your chosen servants

قَالَ هَٰذَا صِرَٰطٌ عَلَيَّ مُسْتَقِيمٌۖ ﰨ

Qâla hâdhâ sirâtun ‘alayya mustaqîm

«[Allah] dit: voici une voie droite [qui mène] vers Moi

[Allah] said, "This is a path [of return] to Me [that is] straight

اِنَّ عِبَادِے لَيْسَ لَكَ عَلَيْهِمْ سُلْطَٰنٌ اِلَّا مَنِ اِ۪تَّبَعَكَ مِنَ اَ۬لْغَاوِينَۖ ﰩ

Inna ‘ibâdî laysa laka ‘alayhim sultânuni llâ mani ttaba‘aka mina lghâwîn

Sur Mes serviteurs tu n'auras aucune autorité, excepté sur celui qui te suivra parmi les dévoyés

Indeed, My servants - no authority will you have over them, except those who follow you of the deviators

وَإِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ لَمَوْعِدُهُمُۥٓ أَجْمَعِينَ ﰪ

Wa'inna jahannama lamaw‘iduhumû ajma‘în

Et l'Enfer sera sûrement leur lieu de rendez-vous à tous

And indeed, Hell is the promised place for them all

لَهَا سَبْعَةُ أَبْوَٰبٖۖ لِّكُلِّ بَابٖ مِّنْهُمْ جُزْءٞ مَّقْسُومٌۖ ﰫ

Lahâ sab‘atu abwâbil likulli bâbim minhum juz'um maqsûm

Il a sept portes; et chaque porte en a sa part déterminée»

It has seven gates; for every gate is of them a portion designated

اِنَّ اَ۬لْمُتَّقِينَ فِے جَنَّٰتٖ وَعُيُونٍ ﰬ

Inna lmuttaqîna fî jannâtin wa‘uyûn

Certes, les pieux seront dans des jardins avec des sources

Indeed, the righteous will be within gardens and springs

اُ۟دْخُلُوهَا بِسَلَٰمٍ اٰمِنِينَۖ ﰭ

Udkhulûhâ bisalâmin âminîn

«Entrez-y en paix et en sécurité»

[Having been told], "Enter it in peace, safe [and secure]

وَنَزَعْنَا مَا فِے صُدُورِهِم مِّنْ غِلٍّۖ اِخْوَٰناً عَلَىٰ سُرُرٖ مُّتَقَٰبِلِينَۖ ﰮ

Wanaza‘nâ mâ fî sudûrihim min ghillini khwânan ‘alâ sururim mutaqâbilîn

Et Nous aurons arraché toute rancune de leurs poitrines: et ils se sentiront frères, faisant face les uns aux autres sur des lits

And We will remove whatever is in their breasts of resentment, [so they will be] brothers, on thrones facing each other

لَا يَمَسُّهُمْ فِيهَا نَصَبٞۖ وَمَا هُم مِّنْهَا بِمُخْرَجِينَۖ ﰯ

Lâ yamassuhum fîhâ nasabun wamâ hum minhâ bimukhrajîn

Nulle fatigue ne les y touchera. Et on ne les en fera pas sortir

No fatigue will touch them therein, nor from it will they [ever] be removed

۞ نَبِّۓْ عِبَادِيَ أَنِّيَ أَنَا اَ۬لْغَفُورُ اُ۬لرَّحِيمُ ﰰ

Nabbî' ‘ibâdiya anniya anâ lghafûru rrahîm

Informe Mes serviteurs que c'est Moi le Pardonneur, le Très Miséricordieux

[O Muhammad], inform My servants that it is I who am the Forgiving, the Merciful

وَأَنَّ عَذَابِے هُوَ اَ۬لْعَذَابُ اُ۬لَالِيمُۖ ﰱ

Wa'anna ‘adhâbî huwa l‘adhâbu lalîm

et que Mon châtiment est certes le châtiment douloureux

And that it is My punishment which is the painful punishment

وَنَبِّئْهُمْ عَن ضَيْفِ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ ﰲ

Wanabbî'hum ‘an dayfi ibrâhîm

Et informe-les au sujet des hôtes d'Abraham

And inform them about the guests of Abraham

إِذْ دَخَلُواْ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالُواْ سَلَٰماٗۖ قَالَ إِنَّا مِنكُمْ وَجِلُونَۖ ﰳ

Idh dakhalû ‘alayhi faqâlû salâman qâla innâ minkum wajilûn

Quand ils entrèrent chez lui et dirent: «Salâm» - Il dit: «Nous avons peur de vous»

When they entered upon him and said, "Peace." [Abraham] said, "Indeed, we are fearful of you

قَالُواْ لَا تَوْجَلِ اِنَّا نُبَشِّرُكَ بِغُلَٰمٍ عَلِيمٖۖ ﰴ

Qâlû lâ tawjali nnâ nubashshiruka bighulâmin ‘alîm

Ils dirent: «N'aie pas peur! Nous t'annonçons une bonne nouvelle, [la naissance] d'un garçon plein de savoir»

[The angels] said, "Fear not. Indeed, we give you good tidings of a learned boy

قَالَ أَبَشَّرْتُمُونِے عَلَىٰٓ أَن مَّسَّنِيَ اَ۬لْكِبَرُ فَبِمَ تُبَشِّرُونِۖ ﰵ

Qâla abashshartumûnî ‘alâ am massaniya lkibaru fabima tubashshirûn

Il dit: «M'annoncez-vous [cette nouvelle] alors que la vieillesse m'a touché? Que m'annoncez-vous donc?»

He said, "Have you given me good tidings although old age has come upon me? Then of what [wonder] do you inform

قَالُواْ بَشَّرْنَٰكَ بِالْحَقِّ فَلَا تَكُن مِّنَ اَ۬لْقَٰنِطِينَۖ ﰶ

Qâlû bashsharnâka bilhaqqi falâ takum mina lqânitîn

Ils dirent: «Nous t'annonçons la vérité. Ne sois donc pas de ceux qui désespèrent»

They said, "We have given you good tidings in truth, so do not be of the despairing

قَالَ وَمَنْ يَّقْنَطُ مِن رَّحْمَةِ رَبِّهِۦٓ إِلَّا اَ۬لضَّآلُّونَۖ ﰷ

Qâla wamay yaqnatu mir rahmati rabbihî illâ ddâllûn

Il dit: «Et qui désespère de la miséricorde de son Seigneur, sinon les égarés?»

He said, "And who despairs of the mercy of his Lord except for those astray

قَالَ فَمَا خَطْبُكُمُۥٓ أَيُّهَا اَ۬لْمُرْسَلُونَۖ ﰸ

Qâla famâ khatbukumû ayyuhâ lmursalûn

Et il [leur] dit: «Que voulez-vous, ô envoyés d'Allah?»

[Abraham] said, "Then what is your business [here], O messengers

قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّآ أُرْسِلْنَآ إِلَىٰ قَوْمٖ مُّجْرِمِينَ ﰹ

Qâlû innâ ursilnâ ilâ qawmim mujrimîn

Ils dirent: «En vérité, nous sommes envoyés à des gens criminels

They said, "Indeed, we have been sent to a people of criminals

إِلَّآ ءَالَ لُوطٍۖ اِنَّا لَمُنَجُّوهُمُۥٓ أَجْمَعِينَ ﰺ

Illâ âla lûtini nnâ lamunajjûhumû ajma‘în

à l'exception de la famille de Lot que nous sauverons tous

Except the family of Lot; indeed, we will save them all

إِلَّا اَ۪مْرَأَتَهُۥ قَدَّرْنَآ إِنَّهَا لَمِنَ اَ۬لْغَٰبِرِينَۖ ﰻ

Illâ mra'atahû qaddarnâ innahâ lamina lghâbirîn

sauf sa femme.«Nous (Allah) avions déterminé qu'elle sera du nombre des exterminés

Except his wife." Allah decreed that she is of those who remain behind

فَلَمَّا جَآءَ ا۟لَ لُوطٍ اِ۬لْمُرْسَلُونَ ﰼ

Falammâ jâ'a ula lûtini lmursalûn

Puis lorsque les envoyés vinrent auprès de la famille de Lot

And when the messengers came to the family of Lot

قَالَ إِنَّكُمْ قَوْمٞ مُّنكَرُونَۖ ﰽ

Qâla innakum qawmum munkarûn

celui-ci dit: «Vous êtes [pour moi] des gens inconnus»

He said, "Indeed, you are people unknown

قَالُواْ بَلْ جِئْنَٰكَ بِمَا كَانُواْ فِيهِ يَمْتَرُونَ ﰾ

Qâlû bal jî'nâka bimâ kânû fîhi yamtarûn

Ils dirent: «Nous sommes plutôt venus à toi en apportant (le châtiment) à propos duquel ils doutaient

They said, "But we have come to you with that about which they were disputing

وَأَتَيْنَٰكَ بِالْحَقِّ وَإِنَّا لَصَٰدِقُونَۖ ﰿ

Wa'ataynâka bilhaqqi wa'innâ lasâdiqûn

Et nous venons à toi avec la vérité. Et nous sommes véridiques

And we have come to you with truth, and indeed, we are truthful

فَاسْرِ بِأَهْلِكَ بِقِطْعٖ مِّنَ اَ۬ليْلِ وَاتَّبِعَ اَدْبَٰرَهُمْ وَلَا يَلْتَفِتْ مِنكُمُۥٓ أَحَدٞ وَامْضُواْ حَيْثُ تُومَرُونَۖ ﱀ

Fasri bi'ahlika biqit‘im mina llayli wattabi‘a dbârahum walâ yaltafit minkumû ahadun wamdû haythu tûmarûn

Pars donc avec ta famille en parie de nuit et suis leurs arrières; et que nul d'entre vous ne se retourne. Et allez là où on vous le commande»

So set out with your family during a portion of the night and follow behind them and let not anyone among you look back and continue on to where you are commanded

وَقَضَيْنَآ إِلَيْهِ ذَٰلِكَ اَ۬لَامْرَ أَنَّ دَابِرَ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ مَقْطُوعٞ مُّصْبِحِينَۖ ﱁ

Waqadaynâ ilayhi dhâlika lamra anna dâbira hâ'ulâ'i maqtû‘um musbihîn

Et Nous lui annonçâmes cet ordre: que ces gens-là, au matin, seront anéantis jusqu'au dernier

And We conveyed to him [the decree] of that matter: that those [sinners] would be eliminated by early morning

وَجَآءَ اهْلُ اُ۬لْمَدِينَةِ يَسْتَبْشِرُونَۖ ﱂ

Wajâ'a âhlu lmadînati yastabshirûn

Et les habitants de la ville (Sodome) vinrent [à lui] dans la joie

And the people of the city came rejoicing

قَالَ إِنَّ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ ضَيْفِے فَلَا تَفْضَحُونِۖ ﱃ

Qâla inna hâ'ulâ'i dayfî falâ tafdahûn

Il dit: «Ceux-ci sont mes hôtes, ne me déshonorez donc pas

[Lot] said, "Indeed, these are my guests, so do not shame me

وَاتَّقُواْ اُ۬للَّهَ وَلَا تُخْزُونِۖ ﱄ

Wattaqû llâha walâ tukhzûn

Et craignez Allah. Et ne me couvrez pas d'ignominie.»

And fear Allah and do not disgrace me

قَالُوٓاْ أَوَلَمْ نَنْهَكَ عَنِ اِ۬لْعَٰلَمِينَۖ ﱅ

Qâlû awalam nanhaka ‘ani l‘âlamîn

Ils dirent: «Ne t'avions-nous pas interdit de [recevoir] du monde?»

They said, "Have we not forbidden you from [protecting] people

قَالَ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ بَنَاتِيَ إِن كُنتُمْ فَٰعِلِينَۖ ﱆ

Qâla hâ'ulâ'i banâtiya in kuntum fâ‘ilîn

Il dit: «Voici mes filles, si vous voulez faire [quelque chose]!»

[Lot] said, "These are my daughters - if you would be doers [of lawful marriage]

لَعَمْرُكَ إِنَّهُمْ لَفِے سَكْرَتِهِمْ يَعْمَهُونَۖ ﱇ

La‘amruka innahum lafî sakratihim ya‘mahûn

Par ta vie! ils se confondaient dans leur délire

By your life, [O Muhammad], indeed they were, in their intoxication, wandering blindly

فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ اُ۬لصَّيْحَةُ مُشْرِقِينَ ﱈ

Fa'akhadhathumu ssayhatu mushriqîn

Alors, au lever du soleil le Cri (la catastrophe) les saisit

So the shriek seized them at sunrise

فَجَعَلْنَا عَٰلِيَهَا سَافِلَهَا وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ حِجَارَةٗ مِّن سِجِّيلٍۖ ﱉ

Faja‘alnâ ‘âliyahâ sâfilahâ wa'amtarnâ ‘alayhim hijâratam min sijjîl

Et Nous renversâmes [la ville] de fond en comble et fîmes pleuvoir sur eux des pierres d'argile dure

And We made the highest part [of the city] its lowest and rained upon them stones of hard clay

اِنَّ فِے ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَٰتٖ لِّلْمُتَوَسِّمِينَۖ ﱊ

Inna fî dhâlika la'yâtil lilmutawassimîn

Voilà vraiment des preuves, pour ceux qui savent observer

Indeed in that are signs for those who discern

وَإِنَّهَا لَبِسَبِيلٖ مُّقِيمٍۖ ﱋ

Wa'innahâ labisabîlim muqîm

Elle [cette ville] se trouvait sur un chemin connu de tous

And indeed, those cities are [situated] on an established road

اِنَّ فِے ذَٰلِكَ لَأٓيَةٗ لِّلْمُومِنِينَۖ ﱌ

Inna fî dhâlika la'yatal lilmûminîn

Voilà vraiment une exhortation pour les croyants

Indeed in that is a sign for the believers

۞ وَإِن كَانَ أَصْحَٰبُ اُ۬لَايْكَةِ لَظَٰلِمِينَۖ ﱍ

Wa'in kâna ashâbu laykati lazâlimîn

Et les habitants d'al-Aïka étaient [aussi] des injustes

And the companions of the thicket were [also] wrongdoers

فَانتَقَمْنَا مِنْهُمْۖ وَإِنَّهُمَا لَبِإِمَامٖ مُّبِينٖۖ ﱎ

Fântaqamnâ minhum wa'innahumâ labi'imâmim mubîn

Nous Nous sommes donc vengés d'eux. Et ces deux [cités], vraiment, sont sur une route bien évidente [que vous connaissez]

So We took retribution from them, and indeed, both [cities] are on a clear highway

وَلَقَدْ كَذَّبَ أَصْحَٰبُ اُ۬لْحِجْرِ اِ۬لْمُرْسَلِينَۖ ﱏ

Walaqad kadhdhaba ashâbu lhijri lmursalîn

Certes, les gens d'al-Hijr ont traité de menteurs les messagers

And certainly did the companions of Thamud deny the messengers

وَءَاتَيْنَٰهُمُۥٓ ءَايَٰتِنَا فَكَانُواْ عَنْهَا مُعْرِضِينَۖ ﱐ

Wa'âtaynâhumû âyâtinâ fakânû ‘anhâ mu‘ridîn

Nous leur avons montré Nos miracles, mais ils s'en étaient détournés

And We gave them Our signs, but from them they were turning away

وَكَانُواْ يَنْحِتُونَ مِنَ اَ۬لْجِبَالِ بُيُوتاً اٰمِنِينَۖ ﱑ

Wakânû yanhitûna mina ljibâli buyûtan âminîn

Et ils taillaient des maisons dans les montagnes, vivant en sécurité

And they used to carve from the mountains, houses, feeling secure

فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ اُ۬لصَّيْحَةُ مُصْبِحِينَۖ ﱒ

Fa'akhadhathumu ssayhatu musbihîn

Puis, au matin, le Cri les saisit

But the shriek seized them at early morning

فَمَآ أَغْن۪ىٰ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُواْ يَكْسِبُونَۖ ﱓ

Famâ aghnê ‘anhum mâ kânû yaksibûn

Ce qu'ils avaient acquis ne leur a donc point profité

So nothing availed them [from] what they used to earn

وَمَا خَلَقْنَا اَ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالَارْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَآ إِلَّا بِالْحَقِّۖ وَإِنَّ اَ۬لسَّاعَةَ لَأٓتِيَةٞۖ فَاصْفَحِ اِ۬لصَّفْحَ اَ۬لْجَمِيلَۖ ﱔ

Wamâ khalaqnâ ssamâwâti walarda wamâ baynahumâ illâ bilhaqqi wa'inna ssâ‘ata la'tiyatun fasfahi ssafha ljamîl

Et Nous n'avons créé les cieux et la terre, et ce qui est entre eux, que pour une juste raison. Et l'Heure [sans aucun doute] arrivera! Pardonne-[leur] donc d'un beau pardon

And We have not created the heavens and earth and that between them except in truth. And indeed, the Hour is coming; so forgive with gracious forgiveness

إِنَّ رَبَّكَ هُوَ اَ۬لْخَلَّٰقُ اُ۬لْعَلِيمُۖ ﱕ

Inna rabbaka huwa lkhallâqu l‘alîm

Ton Seigneur, c'est Lui vraiment le grand Créateur, l'Omniscient

Indeed, your Lord - He is the Knowing Creator

وَلَقَدَ اٰتَيْنَٰكَ سَبْعاٗ مِّنَ اَ۬لْمَثَانِے وَالْقُرْءَانَ اَ۬لْعَظِيمَۖ ﱖ

Walaqada âtaynâka sab‘am mina lmathânî walqur'âna l‘azîm

Nous t'avons certes donné «les sept versets que l'on répète», ainsi que le Coran sublime

And We have certainly given you, [O Muhammad], seven of the often repeated [verses] and the great Qur'an

لَا تَمُدَّنَّ عَيْنَيْكَ إِلَىٰ مَا مَتَّعْنَا بِهِۦٓ أَزْوَٰجاٗ مِّنْهُمْۖ وَلَا تَحْزَنْ عَلَيْهِمْۖ وَاخْفِضْ جَنَاحَكَ لِلْمُومِنِينَۖ ﱗ

Lâ tamuddanna ‘aynayka ilâ mâ matta‘nâ bihî azwâjam minhum walâ tahzan ‘alayhim wakhfid janâhaka lilmûminîn

Ne regarde surtout pas avec envie les choses dont Nous avons donné jouissance temporaire à certains couples d'entre eux, ne t'afflige pas à leur sujet et abaisse ton aile pour les croyants

Do not extend your eyes toward that by which We have given enjoyment to [certain] categories of the disbelievers, and do not grieve over them. And lower your wing to the believers

وَقُلِ اِنِّيَ أَنَا اَ۬لنَّذِيرُ اُ۬لْمُبِينُ ﱘ

Waquli nniya anâ nnadhîru lmubîn

Et dis: «Je suis l'avertisseur évident» (d'un châtiment)

And say, "Indeed, I am the clear warner

كَمَآ أَنزَلْنَا عَلَى اَ۬لْمُقْتَسِمِينَ ﱙ

Kamâ anzalnâ ‘alâ lmuqtasimîn

De même que Nous avons fait descendre [le châtiment] sur ceux qui ont juré (entre eux)

Just as We had revealed [scriptures] to the separators

اَ۬لذِينَ جَعَلُواْ اُ۬لْقُرْءَانَ عِضِينَۖ ﱚ

Alladhîna ja‘alû lqur'âna ‘idîn

ceux qui ont fait du Coran des fractions diverses, (pour créer des doutes)

Who have made the Qur'an into portions

فَوَرَبِّكَ لَنَسْـَٔلَنَّهُمُۥٓ أَجْمَعِينَ ﱛ

Fawarabbika lanas'alannahumû ajma‘în

Par ton Seigneur! Nous les interrogerons tous

So by your Lord, We will surely question them all

عَمَّا كَانُواْ يَعْمَلُونَۖ ﱜ

‘ammâ kânû ya‘malûn

sur ce qu'ils œuvraient

About what they used to do

فَاصْدَعْ بِمَا تُومَرُۖ وَأَعْرِضْ عَنِ اِ۬لْمُشْرِكِينَۖ ﱝ

Fasda‘ bimâ tûmaru wa'a‘rid ‘ani lmushrikîn

Expose donc clairement ce qu'on t'a commandé et détourne-toi des associateurs

Then declare what you are commanded and turn away from the polytheists

إِنَّا كَفَيْنَٰكَ اَ۬لْمُسْتَهْزِءِينَ ﱞ

Innâ kafaynâka lmustahzi'în

Nous t'avons effectivement défendu vis-à-vis des railleurs

Indeed, We are sufficient for you against the mockers

اَ۬لذِينَ يَجْعَلُونَ مَعَ اَ۬للَّهِ إِلَٰهاً اٰخَرَۖ فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَۖ ﱟ

Alladhîna yaj‘alûna ma‘a llâhi ilâhan âkhara fasawfa ya‘lamûn

Ceux qui associent à Allah une autre divinité. Mais ils sauront bientôt

Who make [equal] with Allah another deity. But they are going to know

وَلَقَدْ نَعْلَمُ أَنَّكَ يَضِيقُ صَدْرُكَ بِمَا يَقُولُونَۖ ﱠ

Walaqad na‘lamu annaka yadîqu sadruka bimâ yaqûlûn

Et Nous savons certes que ta poitrine se serre, à cause de ce qu'ils disent

And We already know that your breast is constrained by what they say

فَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ وَكُن مِّنَ اَ۬لسَّٰجِدِينَۖ ﱡ

Fasabbih bihamdi rabbika wakum mina ssâjidîn

Glorifie donc Ton Seigneur par Sa louange et sois de ceux qui se prosternent

So exalt [Allah] with praise of your Lord and be of those who prostrate [to Him]

وَاعْبُدْ رَبَّكَ حَتَّىٰ يَاتِيَكَ اَ۬لْيَقِينُۖ ﱢ

Wa‘bud rabbaka hattâ yâtiyaka lyaqîn

et adore ton Seigneur jusqu'à ce que te vienne la certitude (la mort)

And worship your Lord until there comes to you the certainty (death)
