سُبْحَٰنَ اَ۬لذِےٓ أَسْر۪ىٰ بِعَبْدِهِۦ لَيْلاٗ مِّنَ اَ۬لْمَسْجِدِ اِ۬لْحَرَامِ إِلَى اَ۬لْمَسْجِدِ اِ۬لَاقْصَا اَ۬لذِے بَٰرَكْنَا حَوْلَهُۥ لِنُرِيَهُۥ مِنَ اٰيَٰتِنَآۖ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ اَ۬لسَّمِيعُ اُ۬لْبَصِيرُۖ ﰀ

Subhâna lladhî asrê bi‘abdihî laylam mina lmasjidi lharâmi ilâ lmasjidi laqsâ lladhî bâraknâ hawlahû linuriyahû mina âyâtinâ innahû huwa ssamî‘u lbasîr

Gloire et Pureté à Celui qui de nuit, fit voyager Son serviteur [Muhammad], de la Mosquée Al-Harâm à la Mosquée Al-Aqsâ dont Nous avons béni l'alentour, afin de lui faire voir certaines de Nos merveilles. C'est Lui, vraiment, qui est l'Audient, le Clairvoyant

Exalted is He who took His Servant by night from al-Masjid al-Haram to al-Masjid al-Aqsa, whose surroundings We have blessed, to show him of Our signs. Indeed, He is the Hearing, the Seeing

وَءَاتَيْنَا مُوسَى اَ۬لْكِتَٰبَ وَجَعَلْنَٰهُ هُدىٗ لِّبَنِےٓ إِسْرَآءِيلَ أَلَّا تَتَّخِذُواْ مِن دُونِے وَكِيلاٗ ﰁ

Wa'âtaynâ mûsâ lkitâba waja‘alnâhu hudal libanî isrâ'îla allâ tattakhidhû min dûnî wakîlâ

Et Nous avions donné à Moïse le Livre dont Nous avions fait un guide pour les Enfants d'Israël: «Ne prenez pas de protecteur en dehors de Moi»

And We gave Moses the Scripture and made it a guidance for the Children of Israel that you not take other than Me as Disposer of affairs

ذُرِّيَّةَ مَنْ حَمَلْنَا مَعَ نُوحٍۖ اِنَّهُۥ كَانَ عَبْداٗ شَكُوراٗۖ ﰂ

Dhurriyyata man hamalnâ ma‘a nûhini nnahû kâna ‘abdan shakûrâ

[O vous], les descendants de ceux que Nous avons transportés dans l'arche avec Noé. Celui-ci était vraiment un serviteur fort reconnaissant

O descendants of those We carried [in the ship] with Noah. Indeed, he was a grateful servant

وَقَضَيْنَآ إِلَىٰ بَنِےٓ إِسْرَآءِيلَ فِے اِ۬لْكِتَٰبِ لَتُفْسِدُنَّ فِے اِ۬لَارْضِ مَرَّتَيْنِ وَلَتَعْلُنَّ عُلُوّاٗ كَبِيراٗۖ ﰃ

Waqadaynâ ilâ banî isrâ'îla fî lkitâbi latufsidunna fî lardi marratayni walata‘lunna ‘uluwwan kabîrâ

Nous avions décrété pour les Enfants d'Israël, (et annoncé) dans le Livre: «Par deux fois vous sèmerez la corruption sur terre et vous allez transgresser d'une façon excessive»

And We conveyed to the Children of Israel in the Scripture that, "You will surely cause corruption on the earth twice, and you will surely reach [a degree of] great haughtiness

فَإِذَا جَآءَ وَعْدُ أُول۪يٰهُمَا بَعَثْنَا عَلَيْكُمْ عِبَاداٗ لَّنَآ أُوْلِے بَأْسٖ شَدِيدٖ فَجَاسُواْ خِلَٰلَ اَ۬لدِّي۪ارِۖ وَكَانَ وَعْداٗ مَّفْعُولاٗۖ ﰄ

Fa'idhâ jâ'a wa‘du ûlêhumâ ba‘athnâ ‘alaykum ‘ibâdal lanâ ulî ba'sin shadîdin fajâsû khilâla ddiyêri wakâna wa‘dam maf‘ûlâ

Lorsque vint l'accomplissement de la première de ces deux [prédictions,] Nous envoyâmes contre vous certains de Nos serviteurs doués d'une force terrible, qui pénétrèrent à l'intérieur des demeures. Et la prédiction fut accomplie

So when the [time of] promise came for the first of them, We sent against you servants of Ours - those of great military might, and they probed [even] into the homes, and it was a promise fulfilled

ثُمَّ رَدَدْنَا لَكُمُ اُ۬لْكَرَّةَ عَلَيْهِمْ وَأَمْدَدْنَٰكُم بِأَمْوَٰلٖ وَبَنِينَ وَجَعَلْنَٰكُمُۥٓ أَكْثَرَ نَفِيراًۖ ﰅ

Thumma radadnâ lakumu lkarrata ‘alayhim wa'amdadnâkum bi'amwâlin wabanîna waja‘alnâkumû akthara nafîrâ

Ensuite, Nous vous donnâmes la revanche sur eux; et Nous vous renforçâmes en biens et en enfants. Et Nous vous fîmes [un peuple] plus nombreux

Then We gave back to you a return victory over them. And We reinforced you with wealth and sons and made you more numerous in manpower

اِنَ اَحْسَنتُمُۥٓ أَحْسَنتُمْ لِأَنفُسِكُمْۖ وَإِنَ اَسَأْتُمْ فَلَهَاۖ فَإِذَا جَآءَ وَعْدُ اُ۬لَاخِرَةِ لِيَسُـُٔواْ وُجُوهَكُمْ وَلِيَدْخُلُواْ اُ۬لْمَسْجِدَ كَمَا دَخَلُوهُ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٖ وَلِيُتَبِّرُواْ مَا عَلَوْاْ تَتْبِيراًۖ ﰆ

Ina hsantumû ahsantum li'anfusikum wa'ina sa'tum falahâ fa'idhâ jâ'a wa‘du lakhirati liyasu'û wujûhakum waliyadkhulû lmasjida kamâ dakhalûhu awwala marratin waliyutabbirû mâ ‘alaw tatbîrâ

«Si vous faites le bien; vous le faites à vous-mêmes; et si vous faites le mal, vous le faites à vous [aussi]». Puis, quand vint la dernière [prédiction,] ce fut pour qu'ils affligent vos visages et entrent dans la Mosquée comme ils y étaient entrés la première fois, et pour qu'ils détruisent complètement ce dont ils se sont emparés

[And said], "If you do good, you do good for yourselves; and if you do evil, [you do it] to yourselves." Then when the final promise came, [We sent your enemies] to sadden your faces and to enter the temple in Jerusalem, as they entered it the first time, and to destroy what they had taken over with [total] destruction

عَس۪ىٰ رَبُّكُمُۥٓ أَنْ يَّرْحَمَكُمْۖ وَإِنْ عُدتُّمْ عُدْنَاۖ وَجَعَلْنَا جَهَنَّمَ لِلْكٰ۪فِرِينَ حَصِيراًۖ ﰇ

‘asê rabbukumû ay yarhamakum wa'in ‘udttum ‘udnâ waja‘alnâ jahannama lilkêfirîna hasîrâ

Il se peut que votre Seigneur vous fasse miséricorde. Mais si vous récidivez, Nous récidiverons. Et Nous avons assigné l'Enfer comme camp de détention aux infidèles

[Then Allah said], "It is expected, [if you repent], that your Lord will have mercy upon you. But if you return [to sin], We will return [to punishment]. And We have made Hell, for the disbelievers, a prison-bed

اِنَّ هَٰذَا اَ۬لْقُرْءَانَ يَهْدِے لِلتِے هِيَ أَقْوَمُ وَيُبَشِّرُ اُ۬لْمُومِنِينَ اَ۬لذِينَ يَعْمَلُونَ اَ۬لصَّٰلِحَٰتِ أَنَّ لَهُمُۥٓ أَجْراٗ كَبِيراٗ ﰈ

Inna hâdhâ lqur'âna yahdî lillatî hiya aqwamu wayubashshiru lmûminîna lladhîna ya‘malûna ssâlihâti anna lahumû ajran kabîrâ

Certes, ce Coran guide vers ce qu'il y a de plus droit, et il annonce aux croyants qui font de bonnes œuvres qu'ils auront une grande récompense

Indeed, this Qur'an guides to that which is most suitable and gives good tidings to the believers who do righteous deeds that they will have a great reward

وَأَنَّ اَ۬لذِينَ لَا يُومِنُونَ بِالَاخِرَةِ أَعْتَدْنَا لَهُمْ عَذَاباً اَلِيماٗۖ ﰉ

Wa'anna lladhîna lâ yûminûna bilakhirati a‘tadnâ lahum ‘adhâbana lîmâ

et à ceux qui ne croient pas en l'au-delà, que Nous leur avons préparé un châtiment douloureux

And that those who do not believe in the Hereafter - We have prepared for them a painful punishment

۞ وَيَدْعُ اُ۬لِانسَٰنُ بِالشَّرِّ دُعَآءَهُۥ بِالْخَيْرِۖ وَكَانَ اَ۬لِانسَٰنُ عَجُولاٗۖ ﰊ

Wayad‘u linsânu bishsharri du‘â'ahû bilkhayri wakâna linsânu ‘ajûlâ

L'homme appelle le mal comme il appelle le bien, car l'homme est très hâtif

And man supplicates for evil as he supplicates for good, and man is ever hasty

وَجَعَلْنَا اَ۬ليْلَ وَالنَّهَارَ ءَايَتَيْنِ فَمَحَوْنَآ ءَايَةَ اَ۬ليْلِ وَجَعَلْنَآ ءَايَةَ اَ۬لنَّه۪ارِ مُبْصِرَةٗ لِّتَبْتَغُواْ فَضْلاٗ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ وَلِتَعْلَمُواْ عَدَدَ اَ۬لسِّنِينَ وَالْحِسَابَۖ وَكُلَّ شَےْءٖ فَصَّلْنَٰهُ تَفْصِيلاٗۖ ﰋ

Waja‘alnâ llayla wannahâra âyatayni famahawnâ âyata llayli waja‘alnâ âyata nnahêri mubsiratal litabtaghû fadlam mir rabbikum walita‘lamû ‘adada ssinîna walhisâba wakulla shay'in fassalnâhu tafsîlâ

Nous avons fait de la nuit et du jour deux signes, et Nous avons effacé le signe de la nuit, tandis que Nous avons rendu visible le signe du jour, pour que vous recherchiez des grâces de votre Seigneur, et que vous sachiez le nombre des années et le calcul du temps. Et Nous avons expliqué toute chose d'une manière détaillée

And We have made the night and day two signs, and We erased the sign of the night and made the sign of the day visible that you may seek bounty from your Lord and may know the number of years and the account [of time]. And everything We have set out in detail

وَكُلَّ إِنسَٰنٍ اَلْزَمْنَٰهُ طَٰٓئِرَهُۥ فِے عُنُقِهِۦ وَنُخْرِجُ لَهُۥ يَوْمَ اَ۬لْقِيَٰمَةِ كِتَٰباٗ يَلْق۪يٰهُ مَنشُوراًۖ ﰌ

Wakulla insânina lzamnâhu tâ'irahû fî ‘unuqihî wanukhriju lahû yawma lqiyâmati kitâban yalqêhu manshûrâ

Et au cou de chaque homme, Nous avons attaché son œuvre. Et au Jour de la Résurrection, Nous lui sortirons un écrit qu'il trouvera déroulé

And [for] every person We have imposed his fate upon his neck, and We will produce for him on the Day of Resurrection a record which he will encounter spread open

اِ۪قْرَأْ كِتَٰبَكَ كَف۪ىٰ بِنَفْسِكَ اَ۬لْيَوْمَ عَلَيْكَ حَسِيباٗۖ ﰍ

Iqra' kitâbaka kafê binafsika lyawma ‘alayka hasîbâ

«Lis ton écrit. Aujourd'hui, tu te suffis d'être ton propre comptable»

[It will be said], "Read your record. Sufficient is yourself against you this Day as accountant

مَّنِ اِ۪هْتَد۪ىٰ فَإِنَّمَا يَهْتَدِے لِنَفْسِهِۦۖ وَمَن ضَلَّ فَإِنَّمَا يَضِلُّ عَلَيْهَاۖ وَلَا تَزِرُ وَازِرَةٞ وِزْرَ أُخْر۪ىٰۖ وَمَا كُنَّا مُعَذِّبِينَ حَتَّىٰ نَبْعَثَ رَسُولاٗۖ ﰎ

Mani htadê fa'innamâ yahtadî linafsihî waman dalla fa'innamâ yadillu ‘alayhâ walâ taziru wâziratun wizra ukhrê wamâ kunnâ mu‘adhdhibîna hattâ nab‘atha rasûlâ

Quiconque prend le droit chemin ne le prend que pour lui-même; et quiconque s'égare, ne s'égare qu'à son propre détriment. Et nul ne portera le fardeau d'autrui. Et Nous n'avons jamais puni [un peuple] avant de [lui] avoir envoyé un Messager

Whoever is guided is only guided for [the benefit of] his soul. And whoever errs only errs against it. And no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another. And never would We punish until We sent a messenger

وَإِذَآ أَرَدْنَآ أَن نُّهْلِكَ قَرْيَةً اَمَرْنَا مُتْرَفِيهَا فَفَسَقُواْ فِيهَا فَحَقَّ عَلَيْهَا اَ۬لْقَوْلُ فَدَمَّرْنَٰهَا تَدْمِيراٗۖ ﰏ

Wa'idhâ aradnâ an nuhlika qaryatana marnâ mutrafîhâ fafasaqû fîhâ fahaqqa ‘alayhâ lqawlu fadammarnâhâ tadmîrâ

Et quand Nous voulons détruire une cité, Nous ordonnons à ses gens opulents [d'obéir à Nos prescriptions], mais (au contraire) ils se livrent à la perversité. Alors la Parole prononcée contre elle se réalise, et Nous la détruisons entièrement

And when We intend to destroy a city, We command its affluent but they defiantly disobey therein; so the word comes into effect upon it, and We destroy it with [complete] destruction

وَكَمَ اَهْلَكْنَا مِنَ اَ۬لْقُرُونِ مِنۢ بَعْدِ نُوحٖۖ وَكَف۪ىٰ بِرَبِّكَ بِذُنُوبِ عِبَادِهِۦ خَبِيراَۢ بَصِيراٗۖ ﰐ

Wakama hlaknâ mina lqurûni mim ba‘di nûhin wakafê birabbika bidhunûbi ‘ibâdihî khabîram basîrâ

Que de générations avons-nous exterminées, après Noé! Et ton Seigneur suffit qu'Il soit Parfaitement Connaisseur et Clairvoyant sur les péchés de Ses serviteurs

And how many have We destroyed from the generations after Noah. And sufficient is your Lord, concerning the sins of His servants, as Acquainted and Seeing

مَّن كَانَ يُرِيدُ اُ۬لْعَاجِلَةَ عَجَّلْنَا لَهُۥ فِيهَا مَا نَشَآءُ لِمَن نُّرِيدُ ثُمَّ جَعَلْنَا لَهُۥ جَهَنَّمَ يَصْلَيٰهَا مَذْمُوماٗ مَّدْحُوراٗۖ ﰑ

Man kâna yurîdu l‘âjilata ‘ajjalnâ lahû fîhâ mâ nashâ'u liman nurîdu thumma ja‘alnâ lahû jahannama yaslâhâ madhmûmam madhûrâ

Quiconque désire [la vie] immédiate, Nous nous hâtons de donner ce que Nous voulons, à qui Nous voulons. Puis, Nous lui assignons l'Enfer où il brûlera méprisé et repoussé

Whoever should desire the immediate - We hasten for him from it what We will to whom We intend. Then We have made for him Hell, which he will [enter to] burn, censured and banished

وَمَنَ اَرَادَ اَ۬لَاخِرَةَ وَسَع۪ىٰ لَهَا سَعْيَهَا وَهُوَ مُومِنٞ فَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ كَانَ سَعْيُهُم مَّشْكُوراٗۖ ﰒ

Wamana râda lakhirata wasa‘ê lahâ sa‘yahâ wahuwa mûminun fa'ulâ'ika kâna sa‘yuhum mashkûrâ

Et ceux qui recherchent l'au-delà et fournissent les efforts qui y mènent, tout en étant croyants... alors l'effort de ceux-là sera reconnu

But whoever desires the Hereafter and exerts the effort due to it while he is a believer - it is those whose effort is ever appreciated [by Allah]

كُلّاٗ نُّمِدُّۖ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ وَهَٰٓؤُلَآءِ مِنْ عَطَآءِ رَبِّكَۖ وَمَا كَانَ عَطَآءُ رَبِّكَ مَحْظُوراًۖ ﰓ

Kullan numiddu hâ'ulâ'i wahâ'ulâ'i min ‘atâ'i rabbika wamâ kâna ‘atâ'u rabbika mahzûrâ

Nous accordons abondamment à tous, ceux-ci comme ceux-là, des dons de ton Seigneur. Et les dons de ton Seigneur ne sont refusés [à personne]

To each [category] We extend - to these and to those - from the gift of your Lord. And never has the gift of your Lord been restricted

اُ۟نظُرْ كَيْفَ فَضَّلْنَا بَعْضَهُمْ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٖۖ وَلَلَاخِرَةُ أَكْبَرُ دَرَجَٰتٖ وَأَكْبَرُ تَفْضِيلاٗۖ ﰔ

Unzur kayfa faddalnâ ba‘dahum ‘alâ ba‘din walalâkhiratu akbaru darajâtin wa'akbaru tafdîlâ

Regarde comment Nous favorisons certains sur d'autres. Et dans l'au-delà, il y a des rangs plus élevés et plus privilégiés

Look how We have favored [in provision] some of them over others. But the Hereafter is greater in degrees [of difference] and greater in distinction

لَّا تَجْعَلْ مَعَ اَ۬للَّهِ إِلَٰهاً اٰخَرَ فَتَقْعُدَ مَذْمُوماٗ مَّخْذُولاٗۖ ﰕ

Lâ taj‘al ma‘a llâhi ilâhan âkhara fataq‘uda madhmûmam makhdhûlâ

N'assigne point à Allah d'autre divinité; sinon tu te trouveras méprisé et abandonné

Do not make [as equal] with Allah another deity and [thereby] become censured and forsaken

۞ وَقَض۪ىٰ رَبُّكَ أَلَّا تَعْبُدُوٓاْ إِلَّآ إِيَّاهُۖ وَبِالْوَٰلِدَيْنِ إِحْسَٰناًۖ اِمَّا يَبْلُغَنَّ عِندَكَ اَ۬لْكِبَرَ أَحَدُهُمَآ أَوْ كِلَاهُمَا فَلَا تَقُل لَّهُمَآ أُفّٖ وَلَا تَنْهَرْهُمَاۖ وَقُل لَّهُمَا قَوْلاٗ كَرِيماٗۖ ﰖ

Waqadê rabbuka allâ ta‘budû illâ iyyâhu wabiâlwâlidayni ihsânani mmâ yablughanna ‘indaka lkibara ahaduhumâ aw kilâhumâ falâ taqul lahumâ uffin walâ tanharhumâ waqul lahumâ qawlan karîmâ

Et ton Seigneur a décrété: «N'adorez que Lui; et (marquez) de la bonté envers les père et mère: si l'un d'eux ou tous deux doivent atteindre la vieillesse auprès de toi, alors ne leur dis point: «Fi!» et ne les brusque pas, mais adresse-leur des paroles respectueuses

And your Lord has decreed that you not worship except Him, and to parents, good treatment. Whether one or both of them reach old age [while] with you, say not to them [so much as], "uff," and do not repel them but speak to them a noble word

وَاخْفِضْ لَهُمَا جَنَاحَ اَ۬لذُّلِّ مِنَ اَ۬لرَّحْمَةِۖ وَقُل رَّبِّ اِ۪رْحَمْهُمَا كَمَا رَبَّيَٰنِے صَغِيراٗۖ ﰗ

Wakhfid lahumâ janâha dhdhulli mina rrahmati waqul rabbi rhamhumâ kamâ rabbayânî saghîrâ

et par miséricorde, abaisse pour eux l'aile de l'humilité, et dis: «O mon Seigneur, fais-leur, à tous deux, miséricorde comme ils m'ont élevé tout petit»

And lower to them the wing of humility out of mercy and say, "My Lord, have mercy upon them as they brought me up [when I was] small

رَّبُّكُمُۥٓ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا فِے نُفُوسِكُمُۥٓۖ إِن تَكُونُواْ صَٰلِحِينَ فَإِنَّهُۥ كَانَ لِلَاوَّٰبِينَ غَفُوراٗۖ ﰘ

Rabbukumû a‘lamu bimâ fî nufûsikumû in takûnû sâlihîna fa'innahû kâna lilâwwâbîna ghafûrâ

Votre Seigneur connaît mieux ce qu'il y a dans vos âmes. Si vous êtes bons, Il est certes Pardonneur pour ceux qui Lui reviennent se repentant

Your Lord is most knowing of what is within yourselves. If you should be righteous [in intention] - then indeed He is ever, to the often returning [to Him], Forgiving

وَءَاتِ ذَا اَ۬لْقُرْب۪ىٰ حَقَّهُۥ وَالْمِسْكِينَ وَابْنَ اَ۬لسَّبِيلِۖ وَلَا تُبَذِّرْ تَبْذِيراًۖ ﰙ

Wa'âti dhâ lqurbê haqqahû walmiskîna wabna ssabîli walâ tubadhdhir tabdhîrâ

«Et donne au proche parent ce qui lui est dû ainsi qu'au pauvre et au voyageur (en détresse). Et ne gaspille pas indûment

And give the relative his right, and [also] the poor and the traveler, and do not spend wastefully

اِنَّ اَ۬لْمُبَذِّرِينَ كَانُوٓاْ إِخْوَٰنَ اَ۬لشَّيَٰطِينِۖ وَكَانَ اَ۬لشَّيْطَٰنُ لِرَبِّهِۦ كَفُوراٗۖ ﰚ

Inna lmubadhdhirîna kânû ikhwâna shshayâtîni wakâna shshaytânu lirabbihî kafûrâ

car les gaspilleurs sont les frères des diables; et le Diable est très ingrat envers son Seigneur

Indeed, the wasteful are brothers of the devils, and ever has Satan been to his Lord ungrateful

وَإِمَّا تُعْرِضَنَّ عَنْهُمُ اُ۪بْتِغَآءَ رَحْمَةٖ مِّن رَّبِّكَ تَرْجُوهَا فَقُل لَّهُمْ قَوْلاٗ مَّيْسُوراٗۖ ﰛ

Wa'immâ tu‘ridanna ‘anhumu btighâ'a rahmatim mir rabbika tarjûhâ faqul lahum qawlam maysûrâ

Si tu t'écartes d'eux à la recherche d'une miséricorde de Ton Seigneur, que tu espères, adresse-leur une parole bienveillante

And if you [must] turn away from the needy awaiting mercy from your Lord which you expect, then speak to them a gentle word

وَلَا تَجْعَلْ يَدَكَ مَغْلُولَةً اِلَىٰ عُنُقِكَ وَلَا تَبْسُطْهَا كُلَّ اَ۬لْبَسْطِ فَتَقْعُدَ مَلُوماٗ مَّحْسُوراًۖ ﰜ

Walâ taj‘al yadaka maghlûlatani lâ ‘unuqika walâ tabsuthâ kulla lbasti fataq‘uda malûmam mahsûrâ

Ne porte pas ta main enchaînée à ton cou [par avarice], et ne l'étend pas non plus trop largement, sinon tu te trouveras blâmé et chagriné

And do not make your hand [as] chained to your neck or extend it completely and [thereby] become blamed and insolvent

اِنَّ رَبَّكَ يَبْسُطُ اُ۬لرِّزْقَ لِمَنْ يَّشَآءُ وَيَقْدِرُۖ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ بِعِبَادِهِۦ خَبِيراَۢ بَصِيراٗۖ ﰝ

Inna rabbaka yabsutu rrizqa limay yashâ'u wayaqdiru innahû kâna bi‘ibâdihî khabîram basîrâ

En vérité ton Seigneur étend Ses dons largement à qu'Il veut ou les accorde avec parcimonie. Il est, sur Ses serviteurs, Parfaitement Connaisseur et Clairvoyant

Indeed, your Lord extends provision for whom He wills and restricts [it]. Indeed He is ever, concerning His servants, Acquainted and Seeing

وَلَا تَقْتُلُوٓاْ أَوْلَٰدَكُمْ خَشْيَةَ إِمْلَٰقٖۖ نَّحْنُ نَرْزُقُهُمْ وَإِيَّاكُمُۥٓۖ إِنَّ قَتْلَهُمْ كَانَ خِطْـٔاٗ كَبِيراٗۖ ﰞ

Walâ taqtulû awlâdakum khashyata imlâqin nahnu narzuquhum wa'iyyâkumû inna qatlahum kâna khit'an kabîrâ

Et ne tuez pas vos enfants par crainte de pauvreté; c'est Nous qui attribuons leur subsistance, tout comme à vous. Les tuer, c'est vraiment, un énorme péché

And do not kill your children for fear of poverty. We provide for them and for you. Indeed, their killing is ever a great sin

وَلَا تَقْرَبُواْ اُ۬لزِّن۪ىٰٓ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ فَٰحِشَةٗ وَسَآءَ سَبِيلاٗۖ ﰟ

Walâ taqrabû zzinê innahû kâna fâhishatan wasâ'a sabîlâ

Et n'approchez point la fornication. En vérité, c'est une turpitude et quel mauvais chemin

And do not approach unlawful sexual intercourse. Indeed, it is ever an immorality and is evil as a way

وَلَا تَقْتُلُواْ اُ۬لنَّفْسَ اَ۬لتِے حَرَّمَ اَ۬للَّهُ إِلَّا بِالْحَقِّۖ وَمَن قُتِلَ مَظْلُوماٗ فَقَدْ جَعَلْنَا لِوَلِيِّهِۦ سُلْطَٰناٗ فَلَا يُسْرِف فِّے اِ۬لْقَتْلِۖ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ مَنصُوراٗۖ ﰠ

Walâ taqtulû nnafsa llatî harrama llâhu illâ bilhaqqi waman qutila mazlûman faqad ja‘alnâ liwaliyyihî sultânan falâ yusrif fî lqatli innahû kâna mansûrâ

Et, sauf en droit, ne tuez point la vie qu'Allah a rendu sacrée. Quiconque est tué injustement, alors Nous avons donné pouvoir à son proche [parent]. Que celui-ci ne commette pas d'excès dans le meurtre, car il est déjà assisté (par la loi)

And do not kill the soul which Allah has forbidden, except by right. And whoever is killed unjustly - We have given his heir authority, but let him not exceed limits in [the matter of] taking life. Indeed, he has been supported [by the law]

وَلَا تَقْرَبُواْ مَالَ اَ۬لْيَتِيمِ إِلَّا بِالتِے هِيَ أَحْسَنُ حَتَّىٰ يَبْلُغَ أَشُدَّهُۥۖ وَأَوْفُواْ بِالْعَهْدِۖ إِنَّ اَ۬لْعَهْدَ كَانَ مَسْـُٔولاٗۖ ﰡ

Walâ taqrabû mâla lyatîmi illâ billatî hiya ahsanu hattâ yablugha ashuddahû wa'awfû bil‘ahdi inna l‘ahda kâna mas'ûlâ

Et n'approchez les biens de l'orphelin que de la façon la meilleure, jusqu'à ce qu'il atteigne sa majorité. Et remplissez l'engagement, car on sera interrogé au sujet des engagements

And do not approach the property of an orphan, except in the way that is best, until he reaches maturity. And fulfill [every] commitment. Indeed, the commitment is ever [that about which one will be] questioned

وَأَوْفُواْ اُ۬لْكَيْلَ إِذَا كِلْتُمْ وَزِنُواْ بِالْقُسْطَاسِ اِ۬لْمُسْتَقِيمِۖ ذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٞ وَأَحْسَنُ تَاوِيلاٗۖ ﰢ

Wa'awfû lkayla idhâ kiltum wazinû bilqustâsi lmustaqîmi dhâlika khayrun wa'ahsanu tâwîlâ

Et donnez la pleine mesure quand vous mesurez, et pesez avec une balance exacte. C'est mieux [pour vous] et le résultat en sera meilleur

And give full measure when you measure, and weigh with an even balance. That is the best [way] and best in result

۞ وَلَا تَقْفُ مَا لَيْسَ لَكَ بِهِۦ عِلْمٌۖ اِنَّ اَ۬لسَّمْعَ وَالْبَصَرَ وَالْفُؤَادَ كُلُّ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ كَانَ عَنْهُ مَسْـُٔولاٗۖ ﰣ

Walâ taqfu mâ laysa laka bihî ‘ilmuni nna ssam‘a walbasara walfu'âda kullu ulâ'ika kâna ‘anhu mas'ûlâ

Et ne poursuis pas ce dont tu n'as aucune connaissance. L'ouïe, la vue et le cœur: sur tout cela, en vérité, on sera interrogé

And do not pursue that of which you have no knowledge. Indeed, the hearing, the sight and the heart - about all those [one] will be questioned

وَلَا تَمْشِ فِے اِ۬لَارْضِ مَرَحاًۖ اِنَّكَ لَن تَخْرِقَ اَ۬لَارْضَ وَلَن تَبْلُغَ اَ۬لْجِبَالَ طُولاٗۖ ﰤ

Walâ tamshi fî lardi marahani nnaka lan takhriqa larda walan tablugha ljibâla tûlâ

Et ne foule pas la terre avec orgueil: tu ne sauras jamais fendre la terre et tu ne pourras jamais atteindre la hauteur des montagnes

And do not walk upon the earth exultantly. Indeed, you will never tear the earth [apart], and you will never reach the mountains in height

كُلُّ ذَٰلِكَ كَانَ سَيِّئَةً عِندَ رَبِّكَ مَكْرُوهاٗۖ ﰥ

Kullu dhâlika kâna sayyî'atan ‘inda rabbika makrûhâ

Ce qui est mauvais en tout cela est détesté de ton Seigneur

All that - its evil is ever, in the sight of your Lord, detested

ذَٰلِكَ مِمَّآ أَوْح۪ىٰٓ إِلَيْكَ رَبُّكَ مِنَ اَ۬لْحِكْمَةِۖ وَلَا تَجْعَلْ مَعَ اَ۬للَّهِ إِلَٰهاً اٰخَرَ فَتُلْق۪ىٰ فِے جَهَنَّمَ مَلُوماٗ مَّدْحُوراًۖ ﰦ

Dhâlika mimmâ awhê ilayka rabbuka mina lhikmati walâ taj‘al ma‘a llâhi ilâhan âkhara fatulqê fî jahannama malûmam madhûrâ

Tout cela fait partie de ce que ton Seigneur t'a révélé de la Sagesse. N'assigne donc pas à Allah d'autre divinité, sinon tu seras jeté dans l'Enfer, blâmé et repoussé

That is from what your Lord has revealed to you, [O Muhammad], of wisdom. And, [O mankind], do not make [as equal] with Allah another deity, lest you be thrown into Hell, blamed and banished

اَفَأَصْف۪يٰكُمْ رَبُّكُم بِالْبَنِينَ وَاتَّخَذَ مِنَ اَ۬لْمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ إِنَٰثاًۖ اِنَّكُمْ لَتَقُولُونَ قَوْلاً عَظِيماٗۖ ﰧ

Afa'asfêkum rabbukum bilbanîna wattakhadha mina lmalâ'ikati inâthani nnakum lataqûlûna qawlan ‘azîmâ

Votre Seigneur, aurait-Il réservé exclusivement pour vous des fils, et Lui, aurait-Il pris pour Lui des filles parmi les Anges? Vous prononcez là une parole monstrueuse

Then, has your Lord chosen you for [having] sons and taken from among the angels daughters? Indeed, you say a grave saying

وَلَقَدْ صَرَّفْنَا فِے هَٰذَا اَ۬لْقُرْءَانِ لِيَذَّكَّرُواْ وَمَا يَزِيدُهُمُۥٓ إِلَّا نُفُوراٗۖ ﰨ

Walaqad sarrafnâ fî hâdhâ lqur'âni liyadhdhakkarû wamâ yazîduhumû illâ nufûrâ

Très certainement Nous avons exposé [tout ceci] dans ce Coran afin que [les gens] réfléchissent. Mais cela ne fait qu'augmenter leur répulsion

And We have certainly diversified [the contents] in this Qur'an that mankind may be reminded, but it does not increase the disbelievers except in aversion

قُل لَّوْ كَانَ مَعَهُۥٓ ءَالِهَةٞ كَمَا تَقُولُونَ إِذاٗ لَّابْتَغَوِاْ اِلَىٰ ذِے اِ۬لْعَرْشِ سَبِيلاٗۖ ﰩ

Qul law kâna ma‘ahû âlihatun kamâ taqûlûna idhal labtaghawi lâ dhî l‘arshi sabîlâ

Dis: «S'il y avait des divinités avec Lui, comme ils le disent, elles auraient alors cherché un chemin [pour atteindre] le Détenteur du Trône»

Say, [O Muhammad], "If there had been with Him [other] gods, as they say, then they [each] would have sought to the Owner of the Throne a way

سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَٰل۪ىٰ عَمَّا يَقُولُونَ عُلُوّاٗ كَبِيراٗۖ ﰪ

Subhânahû wata‘âlê ‘ammâ yaqûlûna ‘uluwwan kabîrâ

Pureté à Lui! Il est plus haut et infiniment au-dessus de ce qu'ils disent

Exalted is He and high above what they say by great sublimity

يُسَبِّحُ لَهُ اُ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتُ اُ۬لسَّبْعُ وَالَارْضُ وَمَن فِيهِنَّۖ وَإِن مِّن شَےْءٍ اِلَّا يُسَبِّحُ بِحَمْدِهِۦۖ وَلَٰكِن لَّا تَفْقَهُونَ تَسْبِيحَهُمُۥٓۖ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ حَلِيماً غَفُوراٗۖ ﰫ

Yusabbihu lahu ssamâwâtu ssab‘u walardu waman fîhinna wa'im min shay'ini llâ yusabbihu bihamdihî walâkil lâ tafqahûna tasbîhahumû innahû kâna halîman ghafûrâ

Les sept cieux et la terre et ceux qui s'y trouvent, célèbrent Sa gloire. Et il n'existe rien qui ne célèbre Sa gloire et Ses louanges. Mais vous ne comprenez pas leur façon de Le glorifier. Certes c'est Lui qui est Indulgent et Pardonneur

The seven heavens and the earth and whatever is in them exalt Him. And there is not a thing except that it exalts [Allah] by His praise, but you do not understand their [way of] exalting. Indeed, He is ever Forbearing and Forgiving

وَإِذَا قَرَأْتَ اَ۬لْقُرْءَانَ جَعَلْنَا بَيْنَكَ وَبَيْنَ اَ۬لذِينَ لَا يُومِنُونَ بِالَاخِرَةِ حِجَاباٗ مَّسْتُوراٗۖ ﰬ

Wa'idhâ qara'ta lqur'âna ja‘alnâ baynaka wabayna lladhîna lâ yûminûna bilakhirati hijâbam mastûrâ

Et quand tu lis le Coran, Nous plaçons, entre toi et ceux qui ne croient pas en l'au-delà, un voile invisible

And when you recite the Qur'an, We put between you and those who do not believe in the Hereafter a concealed partition

وَجَعَلْنَا عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمُۥٓ أَكِنَّةً اَنْ يَّفْقَهُوهُ وَفِےٓ ءَاذَانِهِمْ وَقْراٗۖ وَإِذَا ذَكَرْتَ رَبَّكَ فِے اِ۬لْقُرْءَانِ وَحْدَهُۥ وَلَّوْاْ عَلَىٰٓ أَدْبٰ۪رِهِمْ نُفُوراٗۖ ﰭ

Waja‘alnâ ‘alâ qulûbihimû akinnatana y yafqahûhu wafî âdhânihim waqran wa'idhâ dhakarta rabbaka fî lqur'âni wahdahû wallaw ‘alâ adbêrihim nufûrâ

Nous avons mis des voiles sur leurs cœurs, de sorte qu'ils ne le comprennent pas: et dans leurs oreilles, une lourdeur. Et quand, dans le Coran, tu évoques Ton Seigneur l'Unique, ils tournent le dos par répulsion

And We have placed over their hearts coverings, lest they understand it, and in their ears deafness. And when you mention your Lord alone in the Qur'an, they turn back in aversion

نَّحْنُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يَسْتَمِعُونَ بِهِۦٓ إِذْ يَسْتَمِعُونَ إِلَيْكَ وَإِذْ هُمْ نَجْو۪ىٰٓ إِذْ يَقُولُ اُ۬لظَّٰلِمُونَ إِن تَتَّبِعُونَ إِلَّا رَجُلاٗ مَّسْحُوراًۖ ﰮ

Nahnu a‘lamu bimâ yastami‘ûna bihî idh yastami‘ûna ilayka wa'idh hum najwê idh yaqûlu zzâlimûna in tattabi‘ûna illâ rajulam mashûrâ

Nous savons très bien ce qu'ils écoutent. Quand ils t'écoutent et qu'ils chuchotent entre eux, les injustes disent: «Vous ne suivez qu'un homme ensorcelé»

We are most knowing of how they listen to it when they listen to you and [of] when they are in private conversation, when the wrongdoers say, "You follow not but a man affected by magic

اُ۟نظُرْ كَيْفَ ضَرَبُواْ لَكَ اَ۬لَامْثَالَ فَضَلُّواْۖ فَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ سَبِيلاٗۖ ﰯ

Unzur kayfa darabû laka lamthâla fadallû falâ yastatî‘ûna sabîlâ

Vois ce à quoi ils te comparent! Ils s'égarent donc et sont incapables de trouver un chemin (vers la vérité)

Look how they strike for you comparisons; but they have strayed, so they cannot [find] a way

وَقَالُوٓاْ أَ۟ذَا كُنَّا عِظَٰماٗ وَرُفَٰتاً اِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ خَلْقاٗ جَدِيداٗۖ ﰰ

Waqâlû adhâ kunnâ ‘izâman warufâtani nnâ lamab‘ûthûna khalqan jadîdâ

Et ils disent: «Quand nous serons ossements et poussière, serons-nous ressuscités en une nouvelle création?»

And they say, "When we are bones and crumbled particles, will we [truly] be resurrected as a new creation

۞ قُلْ كُونُواْ حِجَارَةً اَوْ حَدِيداً ﰱ

Qul kûnû hijâratana w hadîdâ

Dis: «Soyez pierre ou fer

Say, "Be you stones or iron

اَوْ خَلْقاٗ مِّمَّا يَكْبُرُ فِے صُدُورِكُمْۖ فَسَيَقُولُونَ مَنْ يُّعِيدُنَاۖ قُلِ اِ۬لذِے فَطَرَكُمُۥٓ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٖۖ فَسَيُنْغِضُونَ إِلَيْكَ رُءُوسَهُمْ وَيَقُولُونَ مَت۪ىٰ هُوَۖ قُلْ عَس۪ىٰٓ أَنْ يَّكُونَ قَرِيباٗۖ ﰲ

Aw khalqam mimmâ yakburu fî sudûrikum fasayaqûlûna may yu‘îdunâ quli lladhî fatarakumû awwala marratin fasayunghidûna ilayka ru'ûsahum wayaqûlûna matê huwa qul ‘asê ay yakûna qarîbâ

ou toute autre créature que vous puissiez concevoir.» Ils diront alors: «Qui donc nous fera revenir?» - Dis: «Celui qui vous a créés la première fois». Ils secoueront vers toi leurs têtes et diront: «Quand cela?» Dis: «Il se peut que ce soit proche

Or [any] creation of that which is great within your breasts." And they will say, "Who will restore us?" Say, "He who brought you forth the first time." Then they will nod their heads toward you and say, "When is that?" Say, "Perhaps it will be soon

يَوْمَ يَدْعُوكُمْ فَتَسْتَجِيبُونَ بِحَمْدِهِۦ وَتَظُنُّونَ إِن لَّبِثْتُمُۥٓ إِلَّا قَلِيلاٗۖ ﰳ

Yawma yad‘ûkum fatastajîbûna bihamdihî watazunnûna il labithtumû illâ qalîlâ

Le jour où Il vous appellera, vous Lui répondrez en Le glorifiant. Vous penserez cependant que vous n'êtes restés [sur terre] que peu de temps!»

On the Day He will call you and you will respond with praise of Him and think that you had not remained [in the world] except for a little

وَقُل لِّعِبَادِے يَقُولُواْ اُ۬لتِے هِيَ أَحْسَنُۖ إِنَّ اَ۬لشَّيْطَٰنَ يَنزَغُ بَيْنَهُمُۥٓۖ إِنَّ اَ۬لشَّيْطَٰنَ كَانَ لِلِانسَٰنِ عَدُوّاٗ مُّبِيناٗۖ ﰴ

Waqul li‘ibâdî yaqûlû llatî hiya ahsanu inna shshaytâna yanzaghu baynahumû inna shshaytâna kâna liliânsâni ‘aduwwam mubînâ

Et dis à Mes serviteurs d'exprimer les meilleures paroles, car le Diable sème la discorde parmi eux. Le Diable est certes, pour l'homme, un ennemi déclaré

And tell My servants to say that which is best. Indeed, Satan induces [dissension] among them. Indeed Satan is ever, to mankind, a clear enemy

رَّبُّكُمُۥٓ أَعْلَمُ بِكُمُۥٓ إِنْ يَّشَأْ يَرْحَمْكُمُۥٓ أَوِ اِنْ يَّشَأْ يُعَذِّبْكُمْۖ وَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَٰكَ عَلَيْهِمْ وَكِيلاٗۖ ﰵ

Rabbukumû a‘lamu bikumû iy yasha' yarhamkumû awi y yasha' yu‘adhdhibkum wamâ arsalnâka ‘alayhim wakîlâ

Votre Seigneur vous connaît mieux. S'Il veut, Il vous fera miséricorde, et s'Il veut, Il vous châtiera. Et Nous ne t'avons pas envoyé pour que tu sois leur protecteur

Your Lord is most knowing of you. If He wills, He will have mercy upon you; or if He wills, He will punish you. And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], over them as a manager

وَرَبُّكَ أَعْلَمُ بِمَن فِے اِ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالَارْضِۖ وَلَقَدْ فَضَّلْنَا بَعْضَ اَ۬لنَّبِيٓـِٕۧنَ عَلَىٰ بَعْضٖ وَءَاتَيْنَا دَاوُۥدَ زَبُوراٗۖ ﰶ

Warabbuka a‘lamu biman fî ssamâwâti walardi walaqad faddalnâ ba‘da nnabî'ina ‘alâ ba‘din wa'âtaynâ dâwûda zabûrâ

Et ton Seigneur est plus Connaisseur de ceux qui sont dans les cieux et sur la terre. Et parmi les prophètes, Nous avons donné à certains plus de faveurs qu'à d'autres. Et à David Nous avons donné le «Zabûr»

And your Lord is most knowing of whoever is in the heavens and the earth. And We have made some of the prophets exceed others [in various ways], and to David We gave the book [of Psalms]

قُلُ اُ۟دْعُواْ اُ۬لذِينَ زَعَمْتُم مِّن دُونِهِۦ فَلَا يَمْلِكُونَ كَشْفَ اَ۬لضُّرِّ عَنكُمْ وَلَا تَحْوِيلاًۖ ﰷ

Qulu d‘û lladhîna za‘amtum min dûnihî falâ yamlikûna kashfa ddurri ‘ankum walâ tahwîlâ

Dis: «Invoquez ceux que vous prétendez, (être des divinités) en dehors de Lui. Ils ne possèdent ni le moyen de dissiper votre malheur ni de le détourner

Say, "Invoke those you have claimed [as gods] besides Him, for they do not possess the [ability for] removal of adversity from you or [for its] transfer [to someone else]

ا۟وْلَٰٓئِكَ اَ۬لذِينَ يَدْعُونَ يَبْتَغُونَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِمُ اُ۬لْوَسِيلَةَ أَيُّهُمُۥٓ أَقْرَبُ وَيَرْجُونَ رَحْمَتَهُۥ وَيَخَافُونَ عَذَابَهُۥٓۖ إِنَّ عَذَابَ رَبِّكَ كَانَ مَحْذُوراٗۖ ﰸ

Ulâ'ika lladhîna yad‘ûna yabtaghûna ilâ rabbihimu lwasîlata ayyuhumû aqrabu wayarjûna rahmatahû wayakhâfûna ‘adhâbahû inna ‘adhâba rabbika kâna mahdhûrâ

Ceux qu'ils invoquent, cherchent [eux-mêmes], à qui mieux, le moyen de se rapprocher le plus de leur Seigneur. Ils espèrent Sa miséricorde et craignent Son châtiment. Le châtiment de ton Seigneur est vraiment redouté

Those whom they invoke seek means of access to their Lord, [striving as to] which of them would be nearest, and they hope for His mercy and fear His punishment. Indeed, the punishment of your Lord is ever feared

وَإِن مِّن قَرْيَةٍ اِلَّا نَحْنُ مُهْلِكُوهَا قَبْلَ يَوْمِ اِ۬لْقِيَٰمَةِ أَوْ مُعَذِّبُوهَا عَذَاباٗ شَدِيداٗۖ كَانَ ذَٰلِكَ فِے اِ۬لْكِتَٰبِ مَسْطُوراٗۖ ﰹ

Wa'im min qaryatini llâ nahnu muhlikûhâ qabla yawmi lqiyâmati aw mu‘adhdhibûhâ ‘adhâban shadîdan kâna dhâlika fî lkitâbi mastûrâ

Il n'est point de cité [injuste] que Nous ne fassions périr avant le Jour de la Résurrection, ou que Nous ne punissions d'un dur châtiment. Cela est bien tracé dans le Livre [des décrets immuables]

And there is no city but that We will destroy it before the Day of Resurrection or punish it with a severe punishment. That has ever been in the Register inscribed

وَمَا مَنَعَنَآ أَن نُّرْسِلَ بِالَايَٰتِ إِلَّآ أَن كَذَّبَ بِهَا اَ۬لَاوَّلُونَۖ وَءَاتَيْنَا ثَمُودَ اَ۬لنَّاقَةَ مُبْصِرَةٗ فَظَلَمُواْ بِهَاۖ وَمَا نُرْسِلُ بِالَايَٰتِ إِلَّا تَخْوِيفاٗۖ ﰺ

Wamâ mana‘anâ an nursila bilayâti illâ an kadhdhaba bihâ lawwalûna wa'âtaynâ thamûda nnâqata mubsiratan fazalamû bihâ wamâ nursilu bilayâti illâ takhwîfâ

Rien ne Nous empêche d'envoyer les miracles, si ce n'est que les Anciens les avaient traités de mensonges. Nous avions apporté aux Thamûd la chamelle qui était un [miracle] visible: mais ils lui firent du tort. En outre, Nous n'envoyons de miracles qu'à titre de menace

And nothing has prevented Us from sending signs except that the former peoples denied them. And We gave Thamud the she-camel as a visible sign, but they wronged her. And We send not the signs except as a warning

وَإِذْ قُلْنَا لَكَ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ أَحَاطَ بِالنَّاسِۖ وَمَا جَعَلْنَا اَ۬لرُّءْيَا اَ۬لتِےٓ أَرَيْنَٰكَ إِلَّا فِتْنَةٗ لِّلنَّاسِ وَالشَّجَرَةَ اَ۬لْمَلْعُونَةَ فِے اِ۬لْقُرْءَانِۖ وَنُخَوِّفُهُمْ فَمَا يَزِيدُهُمُۥٓ إِلَّا طُغْيَٰناٗ كَبِيراٗۖ ﰻ

Wa'idh qulnâ laka inna rabbaka ahâta binnâsi wamâ ja‘alnâ rru'yâ llatî araynâka illâ fitnatal linnâsi washshajarata lmal‘ûnata fî lqur'âni wanukhawwifuhum famâ yazîduhumû illâ tughyânan kabîrâ

Et lorsque Nous te disions que ton Seigneur cerne tous les gens (par Sa puissance et Son savoir). Quant à la vision que Nous t'avons montrée, Nous ne l'avons faite que pour éprouver les gens, tout comme l'arbre maudit mentionné dans le Coran. Nous les menaçons, mais cela ne fait qu'augmenter leur grande transgression

And [remember, O Muhammad], when We told you, "Indeed, your Lord has encompassed the people." And We did not make the sight which We showed you except as a trial for the people, as was the accursed tree [mentioned] in the Qur'an. And We threaten them, but it increases them not except in great transgression

۞ وَإِذْ قُلْنَا لِلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ اِ۟سْجُدُواْ لِأٓدَمَ فَسَجَدُوٓاْۖ إِلَّآ إِبْلِيسَ قَالَ ءَآسْجُدُ لِمَنْ خَلَقْتَ طِيناٗۖ ﰼ

Wa'idh qulnâ lilmalâ'ikati sjudû li'dama fasajadû illâ iblîsa qâla âsjudu liman khalaqta tînâ

Et lorsque Nous avons dit aux Anges: «Prosternez-vous devant Adam», ils se prosternèrent, à l'exception d'Iblis, qui dit: «Me prosternerai-je devant quelqu'un que Tu as créé d'argile?»

And [mention] when We said to the angles, "Prostrate to Adam," and they prostrated, except for Iblees. He said, "Should I prostrate to one You created from clay

قَالَ أَرَٰٓيْتَكَ هَٰذَا اَ۬لذِے كَرَّمْتَ عَلَيَّ لَئِنَ اَخَّرْتَنِۦٓ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ اِ۬لْقِيَٰمَةِ لَأَحْتَنِكَنَّ ذُرِّيَّتَهُۥٓ إِلَّا قَلِيلاٗۖ ﰽ

Qâla arâytaka hâdhâ lladhî karramta ‘alayya la'ina khkhartanî ilâ yawmi lqiyâmati la'ahtanikanna dhurriyyatahû illâ qalîlâ

Il dit encore: «Vois-Tu? Celui que Tu as honoré au-dessus de moi, si Tu me donnais du répit jusqu'au Jour de la Résurrection, j'éprouverai, certes, sa descendance excepté un petit nombre [parmi eux]»

[Iblees] said, "Do You see this one whom You have honored above me? If You delay me until the Day of Resurrection, I will surely destroy his descendants, except for a few

قَالَ اَ۪ذْهَبْ فَمَن تَبِعَكَ مِنْهُمْ فَإِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ جَزَآؤُكُمْ جَزَآءٗ مَّوْفُوراٗۖ ﰾ

Qâla dhhab faman tabi‘aka minhum fa'inna jahannama jazâ'ukum jazâ'am mawfûrâ

Et [Allah] dit: «Va-t-en! Quiconque d'entre eux te suivra... votre sanction sera l'Enfer, une ample rétribution

[Allah] said, "Go, for whoever of them follows you, indeed Hell will be the recompense of you - an ample recompense

وَاسْتَفْزِزْ مَنِ اِ۪سْتَطَعْتَ مِنْهُم بِصَوْتِكَ وَأَجْلِبْ عَلَيْهِم بِخَيْلِكَ وَرَجْلِكَ وَشَارِكْهُمْ فِے اِ۬لَامْوَٰلِ وَالَاوْلَٰدِ وَعِدْهُمْۖ وَمَا يَعِدُهُمُ اُ۬لشَّيْطَٰنُ إِلَّا غُرُوراًۖ ﰿ

Wastafziz mani stata‘ta minhum bisawtika wa'ajlib ‘alayhim bikhaylika warajlika washârikhum fî lamwâli walawlâdi wa‘idhum wamâ ya‘iduhumu shshaytânu illâ ghurûrâ

Excite, par ta voix, ceux d'entre eux que tu pourras, rassemble contre eux ta cavalerie et ton infanterie, associe-toi à eux dans leur biens et leurs enfants et fais-leur des promesses». Or, le Diable ne leur fait des promesses qu'en tromperie

And incite [to senselessness] whoever you can among them with your voice and assault them with your horses and foot soldiers and become a partner in their wealth and their children and promise them." But Satan does not promise them except delusion

اِنَّ عِبَادِے لَيْسَ لَكَ عَلَيْهِمْ سُلْطَٰنٞۖ وَكَف۪ىٰ بِرَبِّكَ وَكِيلاٗۖ ﱀ

Inna ‘ibâdî laysa laka ‘alayhim sultânun wakafê birabbika wakîlâ

Quant à Mes serviteurs, tu n'as aucun pouvoir sur eux». Et ton Seigneur suffit pour les protéger

Indeed, over My [believing] servants there is for you no authority. And sufficient is your Lord as Disposer of affairs

رَّبُّكُمُ اُ۬لذِے يُزْجِے لَكُمُ اُ۬لْفُلْكَ فِے اِ۬لْبَحْرِ لِتَبْتَغُواْ مِن فَضْلِهِۦٓۖ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ بِكُمْ رَحِيماٗۖ ﱁ

Rabbukumu lladhî yuzjî lakumu lfulka fî lbahri litabtaghû min fadlihî innahû kâna bikum rahîmâ

Votre Seigneur est Celui qui fait voguer le vaisseau pour vous en mer, afin que vous alliez à la recherche de quelque grâce de Sa part; Certes Il est Miséricordieux envers vous

It is your Lord who drives the ship for you through the sea that you may seek of His bounty. Indeed, He is ever, to you, Merciful

وَإِذَا مَسَّكُمُ اُ۬لضُّرُّ فِے اِ۬لْبَحْرِ ضَلَّ مَن تَدْعُونَ إِلَّآ إِيَّاهُۖ فَلَمَّا نَجّ۪يٰكُمُۥٓ إِلَى اَ۬لْبَرِّ أَعْرَضْتُمْۖ وَكَانَ اَ۬لِانسَٰنُ كَفُوراًۖ ﱂ

Wa'idhâ massakumu ddurru fî lbahri dalla man tad‘ûna illâ iyyâhu falammâ najjêkumû ilâ lbarri a‘radtum wakâna linsânu kafûrâ

Et quand le mal vous touche en mer, ceux que vous invoquiez en dehors de Lui se perdent. Puis, quand Il vous sauve et vous ramène à terre, vous vous détournez. L'homme reste très ingrat

And when adversity touches you at sea, lost are [all] those you invoke except for Him. But when He delivers you to the land, you turn away [from Him]. And ever is man ungrateful

اَفَأَمِنتُمُۥٓ أَنْ يَّخْسِفَ بِكُمْ جَانِبَ اَ۬لْبَرِّ أَوْ يُرْسِلَ عَلَيْكُمْ حَاصِباٗ ثُمَّ لَا تَجِدُواْ لَكُمْ وَكِيلاً ﱃ

Afa'amintumû ay yakhsifa bikum jâniba lbarri aw yursila ‘alaykum hâsiban thumma lâ tajidû lakum wakîlâ

Etes-vous à l'abri de ce qu'Il vous fasse engloutir par un pan de terre, ou qu'Il envoie contre vous un ouragan (avec pluie en pierres) et que vous ne trouverez alors aucun protecteur

Then do you feel secure that [instead] He will not cause a part of the land to swallow you or send against you a storm of stones? Then you would not find for yourselves an advocate

اَمَ اَمِنتُمُۥٓ أَنْ يُّعِيدَكُمْ فِيهِ تَارَةً ا۟خْر۪ىٰ فَيُرْسِلَ عَلَيْكُمْ قَاصِفاٗ مِّنَ اَ۬لرِّيحِ فَيُغْرِقَكُم بِمَا كَفَرْتُمْ ثُمَّ لَا تَجِدُواْ لَكُمْ عَلَيْنَا بِهِۦ تَبِيعاٗۖ ﱄ

Ama mintumû ay yu‘îdakum fîhi târatan ukhrê fayursila ‘alaykum qâsifam mina rrîhi fayughriqakum bimâ kafartum thumma lâ tajidû lakum ‘alaynâ bihî tabî‘â

Ou êtes-vous à l'abri de ce qu'Il vous y ramène (en mer) une autre fois, qu'Il déchaîne contre vous un de ces vents à tout casser, puis qu'Il vous fasse noyer à cause de votre mécréance? Et alors vous ne trouverez personne pour vous défendre contre Nous

Or do you feel secure that He will not send you back into the sea another time and send upon you a hurricane of wind and drown you for what you denied? Then you would not find for yourselves against Us an avenger

۞ وَلَقَدْ كَرَّمْنَا بَنِےٓ ءَادَمَ وَحَمَلْنَٰهُمْ فِے اِ۬لْبَرِّ وَالْبَحْرِ وَرَزَقْنَٰهُم مِّنَ اَ۬لطَّيِّبَٰتِ وَفَضَّلْنَٰهُمْ عَلَىٰ كَثِيرٖ مِّمَّنْ خَلَقْنَا تَفْضِيلاٗۖ ﱅ

Walaqad karramnâ banî âdama wahamalnâhum fî lbarri walbahri warazaqnâhum mina ttayyibâti wafaddalnâhum ‘alâ kathîrim mimman khalaqnâ tafdîlâ

Certes, Nous avons honoré les fils d'Adam. Nous les avons transportés sur terre et sur mer, leur avons attribué de bonnes choses comme nourriture, et Nous les avons nettement préférés à plusieurs de Nos créatures

And We have certainly honored the children of Adam and carried them on the land and sea and provided for them of the good things and preferred them over much of what We have created, with [definite] preference

يَوْمَ نَدْعُواْ كُلَّ أُنَاسِۢ بِإِمَٰمِهِمْۖ فَمَنُ ا۟وتِيَ كِتَٰبَهُۥ بِيَمِينِهِۦ فَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ يَقْرَءُونَ كِتَٰبَهُمْ وَلَا يُظْلَمُونَ فَتِيلاٗۖ ﱆ

Yawma nad‘û kulla unâsim bi'imâmihim famanu ûtiya kitâbahû biyamînihî fa'ulâ'ika yaqra'ûna kitâbahum walâ yuzlamûna fatîlâ

Le jour où Nous appellerons chaque groupement d'hommes par leur chef, ceux à qui on remettra leur livre dans la main droite liront leur livre (avec plaisir) et ne subiront pas la moindre injustice

[Mention, O Muhammad], the Day We will call forth every people with their record [of deeds]. Then whoever is given his record in his right hand - those will read their records, and injustice will not be done to them, [even] as much as a thread [inside the date seed]

وَمَن كَانَ فِے هَٰذِهِۦٓ أَعْم۪ىٰ فَهُوَ فِے اِ۬لَاخِرَةِ أَعْم۪ىٰ وَأَضَلُّ سَبِيلاٗۖ ﱇ

Waman kâna fî hâdhihî a‘mê fahuwa fî lakhirati a‘mê wa'adallu sabîlâ

Et quiconque aura été aveugle ici-bas, sera aveugle dans l'au-delà, et sera plus égaré [encore] par rapport à la bonne voie

And whoever is blind in this [life] will be blind in the Hereafter and more astray in way

وَإِن كَادُواْ لَيَفْتِنُونَكَ عَنِ اِ۬لذِےٓ أَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَيْكَ لِتَفْتَرِيَ عَلَيْنَا غَيْرَهُۥۖ وَإِذاٗ لَّاتَّخَذُوكَ خَلِيلاٗۖ ﱈ

Wa'in kâdû layaftinûnaka ‘ani lladhî awhaynâ ilayka litaftariya ‘alaynâ ghayrahû wa'idhal lattakhadhûka khalîlâ

Ils ont failli te détourner de ce que Nous t'avions révélé, [dans l'espoir] qu'à la place de ceci, tu inventes quelque chose d'autre et (l'imputes) à Nous. Et alors, ils t'auraient pris pour ami intime

And indeed, they were about to tempt you away from that which We revealed to you in order to [make] you invent about Us something else; and then they would have taken you as a friend

وَلَوْلَآ أَن ثَبَّتْنَٰكَ لَقَدْ كِدتَّ تَرْكَنُ إِلَيْهِمْ شَئْاٗ قَلِيلاًۖ ﱉ

Walawlâ an thabbatnâka laqad kidtta tarkanu ilayhim shay'an qalîlâ

Et si Nous ne t'avions pas raffermi, tu aurais bien failli t'incliner quelque peu vers eux

And if We had not strengthened you, you would have almost inclined to them a little

اِذاٗ لَّأَذَقْنَٰكَ ضِعْفَ اَ۬لْحَيَوٰةِ وَضِعْفَ اَ۬لْمَمَاتِ ثُمَّ لَا تَجِدُ لَكَ عَلَيْنَا نَصِيراٗۖ ﱊ

Idhal la'adhaqnâka di‘fa lhayawâti wadi‘fa lmamâti thumma lâ tajidu laka ‘alaynâ nasîrâ

Alors, Nous t'aurions certes fait goûter le double [supplice] de la vie et le double [supplice] de la mort; et ensuite tu n'aurais pas trouvé de secoureur contre Nous

Then [if you had], We would have made you taste double [punishment in] life and double [after] death. Then you would not find for yourself against Us a helper

وَإِن كَادُواْ لَيَسْتَفِزُّونَكَ مِنَ اَ۬لَارْضِ لِيُخْرِجُوكَ مِنْهَاۖ وَإِذاٗ لَّا يَلْبَثُونَ خَلْفَكَ إِلَّا قَلِيلاٗۖ ﱋ

Wa'in kâdû layastafizzûnaka mina lardi liyukhrijûka minhâ wa'idhal lâ yalbathûna khalfaka illâ qalîlâ

En vérité, ils ont failli t'inciter à fuir du pays pour t'en bannir. Mais dans ce cas, ils n'y seraient pas restés longtemps après toi

And indeed, they were about to drive you from the land to evict you therefrom. And then [when they do], they will not remain [there] after you, except for a little

سُنَّةَ مَن قَدَ اَرْسَلْنَا قَبْلَكَ مِن رُّسُلِنَاۖ وَلَا تَجِدُ لِسُنَّتِنَا تَحْوِيلاًۖ ﱌ

Sunnata man qada rsalnâ qablaka mir rusulinâ walâ tajidu lisunnatinâ tahwîlâ

Telle fut la règle appliquée par Nous à Nos messagers que Nous avons envoyés avant toi. Et tu ne trouveras pas de changement en Notre règle

[That is Our] established way for those We had sent before you of Our messengers; and you will not find in Our way any alteration

اَقِمِ اِ۬لصَّلَوٰةَ لِدُلُوكِ اِ۬لشَّمْسِ إِلَىٰ غَسَقِ اِ۬ليْلِ وَقُرْءَانَ اَ۬لْفَجْرِۖ إِنَّ قُرْءَانَ اَ۬لْفَجْرِ كَانَ مَشْهُوداٗۖ ﱍ

Aqimi ssalawâta lidulûki shshamsi ilâ ghasaqi llayli waqur'âna lfajri inna qur'âna lfajri kâna mashhûdâ

Accomplis la Salât au déclin du soleil jusqu'à l'obscurité de la nuit, et [fais] aussi la Lecture à l'aube, car la Lecture à l'aube a des témoins

Establish prayer at the decline of the sun [from its meridian] until the darkness of the night and [also] the Qur'an of dawn. Indeed, the recitation of dawn is ever witnessed

وَمِنَ اَ۬ليْلِ فَتَهَجَّدْ بِهِۦ نَافِلَةٗ لَّكَ عَس۪ىٰٓ أَنْ يَّبْعَثَكَ رَبُّكَ مَقَاماٗ مَّحْمُوداٗۖ ﱎ

Wamina llayli fatahajjad bihî nâfilatal laka ‘asê ay yab‘athaka rabbuka maqâmam mahmûdâ

Et de la nuit consacre une partie [avant l'aube] pour des Salât surérogatoires: afin que ton Seigneur te ressuscite en une position de gloire

And from [part of] the night, pray with it as additional [worship] for you; it is expected that your Lord will resurrect you to a praised station

وَقُل رَّبِّ أَدْخِلْنِے مُدْخَلَ صِدْقٖ وَأَخْرِجْنِے مُخْرَجَ صِدْقٖ وَاجْعَل لِّے مِن لَّدُنكَ سُلْطَٰناٗ نَّصِيراٗۖ ﱏ

Waqul rabbi adkhilnî mudkhala sidqin wa'akhrijnî mukhraja sidqin waj‘al lî mil ladunka sultânan nasîrâ

Et dis: «O mon Seigneur, fais que j'entre par une entrée de vérité et que je sorte par une sortie de vérité; et accorde-moi de Ta part, un pouvoir bénéficiant de Ton secours»

And say, "My Lord, cause me to enter a sound entrance and to exit a sound exit and grant me from Yourself a supporting authority

وَقُلْ جَآءَ اَ۬لْحَقُّ وَزَهَقَ اَ۬لْبَٰطِلُۖ إِنَّ اَ۬لْبَٰطِلَ كَانَ زَهُوقاٗۖ ﱐ

Waqul jâ'a lhaqqu wazahaqa lbâtilu inna lbâtila kâna zahûqâ

Et dis: «La Vérité (l'Islam) est venue et l'Erreur a disparu. Car l'Erreur est destinée à disparaître»

And say, "Truth has come, and falsehood has departed. Indeed is falsehood, [by nature], ever bound to depart

وَنُنَزِّلُ مِنَ اَ۬لْقُرْءَانِ مَا هُوَ شِفَآءٞ وَرَحْمَةٞ لِّلْمُومِنِينَۖ وَلَا يَزِيدُ اُ۬لظَّٰلِمِينَ إِلَّا خَسَاراٗۖ ﱑ

Wanunazzilu mina lqur'âni mâ huwa shifâ'un warahmatul lilmûminîna walâ yazîdu zzâlimîna illâ khasârâ

Nous faisons descendre du Coran, ce qui est une guérison et une miséricorde pour les croyants. Cependant, cela ne fait qu'accroître la perdition des injustes

And We send down of the Qur'an that which is healing and mercy for the believers, but it does not increase the wrongdoers except in loss

وَإِذَآ أَنْعَمْنَا عَلَى اَ۬لِانسَٰنِ أَعْرَضَ وَنَـ۪ٔا بِجَانِبِهِۦۖ وَإِذَا مَسَّهُ اُ۬لشَّرُّ كَانَ يَـُٔوساٗۖ ﱒ

Wa'idhâ an‘amnâ ‘alâ linsâni a‘rada wana'ê bijânibihî wa'idhâ massahu shsharru kâna ya'ûsâ

Et quand Nous comblons l'homme de bienfaits, il se détourne et se replie sur lui-même; et quand un mal le touche, le voilà profondément désespéré

And when We bestow favor upon the disbeliever, he turns away and distances himself; and when evil touches him, he is ever despairing

قُلْ كُلّٞ يَعْمَلُ عَلَىٰ شَاكِلَتِهِۦ فَرَبُّكُمُۥٓ أَعْلَمُ بِمَنْ هُوَ أَهْد۪ىٰ سَبِيلاٗۖ ﱓ

Qul kullun ya‘malu ‘alâ shâkilatihî farabbukumû a‘lamu biman huwa ahdê sabîlâ

Dis: «Chacun agit selon sa méthode, alors que votre Seigneur connaît mieux qui suit la meilleure voie»

Say, "Each works according to his manner, but your Lord is most knowing of who is best guided in way

۞ وَيَسْـَٔلُونَكَ عَنِ اِ۬لرُّوحِۖ قُلِ اِ۬لرُّوحُ مِنَ اَمْرِ رَبِّے وَمَآ أُوتِيتُم مِّنَ اَ۬لْعِلْمِ إِلَّا قَلِيلاٗۖ ﱔ

Wayas'alûnaka ‘ani rrûhi quli rrûhu mina mri rabbî wamâ ûtîtum mina l‘ilmi illâ qalîlâ

Et ils t'interrogent au sujet de l'âme, - Dis: «L'âme relève de l'Ordre de mon Seigneur». Et on ne vous a donné que peu de connaissance

And they ask you, [O Muhammad], about the soul. Say, "The soul is of the affair of my Lord. And mankind have not been given of knowledge except a little

وَلَئِن شِئْنَا لَنَذْهَبَنَّ بِالذِےٓ أَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَيْكَ ثُمَّ لَا تَجِدُ لَكَ بِهِۦ عَلَيْنَا وَكِيلاً ﱕ

Wala'in shî'nâ lanadhhabanna billadhî awhaynâ ilayka thumma lâ tajidu laka bihî ‘alaynâ wakîlâ

Si Nous voulons, Nous pouvons certes faire disparaître ce que Nous t'avons révélé; et tu n'y trouverais par la suite aucun défenseur contre Nous

And if We willed, We could surely do away with that which We revealed to you. Then you would not find for yourself concerning it an advocate against Us

اِلَّا رَحْمَةٗ مِّن رَّبِّكَۖ إِنَّ فَضْلَهُۥ كَانَ عَلَيْكَ كَبِيراٗۖ ﱖ

Illâ rahmatam mir rabbika inna fadlahû kâna ‘alayka kabîrâ

Si ce n'est par une miséricorde de ton Seigneur, car en vérité Sa grâce sur toi est grande

Except [We have left it with you] as a mercy from your Lord. Indeed, His favor upon you has ever been great

قُل لَّئِنِ اِ۪جْتَمَعَتِ اِ۬لِانسُ وَالْجِنُّ عَلَىٰٓ أَنْ يَّاتُواْ بِمِثْلِ هَٰذَا اَ۬لْقُرْءَانِ لَا يَاتُونَ بِمِثْلِهِۦ وَلَوْ كَانَ بَعْضُهُمْ لِبَعْضٖ ظَهِيراٗۖ ﱗ

Qul la'ini jtama‘ati linsu waljinnu ‘alâ ay yâtû bimithli hâdhâ lqur'âni lâ yâtûna bimithlihî walaw kâna ba‘duhum liba‘din zahîrâ

Dis: «Même si les hommes et les djinns s'unissaient pour produire quelque chose de semblable à ce Coran, ils ne sauraient produire rien de semblable, même s'ils se soutenaient les uns les autres»

Say, "If mankind and the jinn gathered in order to produce the like of this Qur'an, they could not produce the like of it, even if they were to each other assistants

وَلَقَدْ صَرَّفْنَا لِلنَّاسِ فِے هَٰذَا اَ۬لْقُرْءَانِ مِن كُلِّ مَثَلٖ فَأَب۪ىٰٓ أَكْثَرُ اُ۬لنَّاسِ إِلَّا كُفُوراٗۖ ﱘ

Walaqad sarrafnâ linnâsi fî hâdhâ lqur'âni min kulli mathalin fa'abê aktharu nnâsi illâ kufûrâ

Et certes, Nous avons déployé pour les gens, dans ce Coran, toutes sortes d'exemples. Mais la plupart des gens s'obstinent à être mécréants

And We have certainly diversified for the people in this Qur'an from every [kind] of example, but most of the people refused [anything] except disbelief

وَقَالُواْ لَن نُّومِنَ لَكَ حَتَّىٰ تُفَجِّرَ لَنَا مِنَ اَ۬لَارْضِ يَنۢبُوعاً ﱙ

Waqâlû lan nûmina laka hattâ tufajjira lanâ mina lardi yambû‘â

Et ils dirent: «Nous ne croirons pas en toi, jusqu'à ce que tu aies fait jaillir de terre, pour nous, une source

And they say, "We will not believe you until you break open for us from the ground a spring

اَوْ تَكُونَ لَكَ جَنَّةٞ مِّن نَّخِيلٖ وَعِنَبٖ فَتُفَجِّرَ اَ۬لَانْهَٰرَ خِلَٰلَهَا تَفْجِيراً ﱚ

Aw takûna laka jannatum min nakhîlin wa‘inabin fatufajjira lanhâra khilâlahâ tafjîrâ

ou que tu aies un jardin de palmiers et de vignes, entre lesquels tu feras jaillir des ruisseaux en abondance

Or [until] you have a garden of palm tress and grapes and make rivers gush forth within them in force [and abundance]

اَوْ تُسْقِطَ اَ۬لسَّمَآءَ كَمَا زَعَمْتَ عَلَيْنَا كِسَفاً اَوْ تَاتِيَ بِاللَّهِ وَالْمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ قَبِيلاً ﱛ

Aw tusqita ssamâ'a kamâ za‘amta ‘alaynâ kisafana w tâtiya billâhi walmalâ'ikati qabîlâ

ou que tu fasses tomber sur nous, comme tu le prétends, le ciel en morceaux; ou que tu fasses venir Allah et les Anges en face de nous

Or you make the heaven fall upon us in fragments as you have claimed or you bring Allah and the angels before [us]

اَوْ يَكُونَ لَكَ بَيْتٞ مِّن زُخْرُفٍ اَوْ تَرْق۪ىٰ فِے اِ۬لسَّمَآءِ وَلَن نُّومِنَ لِرُقِيِّكَ حَتَّىٰ تُنَزِّلَ عَلَيْنَا كِتَٰباٗ نَّقْرَؤُهُۥۖ قُلْ سُبْحَٰنَ رَبِّے هَلْ كُنتُ إِلَّا بَشَراٗ رَّسُولاٗۖ ﱜ

Aw yakûna laka baytum min zukhrufina w tarqê fî ssamâ'i walan nûmina liruqiyyika hattâ tunazzila ‘alaynâ kitâban naqra'uhû qul subhâna rabbî hal kuntu illâ basharar rasûlâ

ou que tu aies une maison [garnie] d'ornements; ou que tu sois monté au ciel. Encore ne croirons-nous pas à ta montée au ciel, jusqu'à ce que tu fasses descendre sur nous un Livre que nous puissions lire». Dis-[leur]: «Gloire à mon Seigneur! Ne suis-je qu'un être humain-Messager?»

Or you have a house of gold or you ascend into the sky. And [even then], we will not believe in your ascension until you bring down to us a book we may read." Say, "Exalted is my Lord! Was I ever but a human messenger

وَمَا مَنَعَ اَ۬لنَّاسَ أَنْ يُّومِنُوٓاْ إِذْ جَآءَهُمُ اُ۬لْهُد۪ىٰٓ إِلَّآ أَن قَالُوٓاْ أَبَعَثَ اَ۬للَّهُ بَشَراٗ رَّسُولاٗۖ ﱝ

Wamâ mana‘a nnâsa ay yûminû idh jâ'ahumu lhudê illâ an qâlû aba‘atha llâhu basharar rasûlâ

Et rien n'empêcha les gens de croire, quand le guide leur est parvenu, si ce n'est qu'ils disaient: «Allah envoie-t-Il un être humain-Messager?»

And what prevented the people from believing when guidance came to them except that they said, "Has Allah sent a human messenger

قُل لَّوْ كَانَ فِے اِ۬لَارْضِ مَلَٰٓئِكَةٞ يَمْشُونَ مُطْمَئِنِّينَ لَنَزَّلْنَا عَلَيْهِم مِّنَ اَ۬لسَّمَآءِ مَلَكاٗ رَّسُولاٗۖ ﱞ

Qul law kâna fî lardi malâ'ikatun yamshûna mutma'innîna lanazzalnâ ‘alayhim mina ssamâ'i malakar rasûlâ

Dis: «S'il y avait sur terre des Anges marchant tranquillement, Nous aurions certes fait descendre sur eux du ciel un Ange-Messager»

Say, "If there were upon the earth angels walking securely, We would have sent down to them from the heaven an angel [as a] messenger

قُلْ كَف۪ىٰ بِاللَّهِ شَهِيداَۢ بَيْنِے وَبَيْنَكُمُۥٓۖ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ بِعِبَادِهِۦ خَبِيراَۢ بَصِيراٗۖ ﱟ

Qul kafê billâhi shahîdam baynî wabaynakumû innahû kâna bi‘ibâdihî khabîram basîrâ

Dis: «Allah suffit comme témoin entre vous et moi». Il est, sur Ses serviteurs, Parfaitement Connaisseur et Clairvoyant

Say, "Sufficient is Allah as Witness between me and you. Indeed he is ever, concerning His servants, Acquainted and Seeing

وَمَنْ يَّهْدِ اِ۬للَّهُ فَهُوَ اَ۬لْمُهْتَدِۦۖ وَمَنْ يُّضْلِلْ فَلَن تَجِدَ لَهُمُۥٓ أَوْلِيَآءَ مِن دُونِهِۦۖ وَنَحْشُرُهُمْ يَوْمَ اَ۬لْقِيَٰمَةِ عَلَىٰ وُجُوهِهِمْ عُمْياٗ وَبُكْماٗ وَصُمّاٗۖ مَّأْو۪يٰهُمْ جَهَنَّمُۖ كُلَّمَا خَبَتْ زِدْنَٰهُمْ سَعِيراٗۖ ﱠ

Wamay yahdi llâhu fahuwa lmuhtadî wamay yudlil falan tajida lahumû awliyâ'a min dûnihî wanahshuruhum yawma lqiyâmati ‘alâ wujûhihim ‘umyan wabukman wasummam ma'wêhum jahannamu kullamâ khabat zidnâhum sa‘îrâ

Celui qu'Allah guide, c'est lui le bien-guidé et ceux qu'Il égare... tu ne leur trouveras jamais d'alliés en dehors de Lui et au Jour de la Résurrection, Nous les rassemblerons traînés sur leurs visages, aveugles, muets et sourds. L'Enfer sera leur demeure: chaque fois que son feu s'affaiblit, Nous leur accroîtrons la flamme ardente

And whoever Allah guides - he is the [rightly] guided; and whoever He sends astray - you will never find for them protectors besides Him, and We will gather them on the Day of Resurrection [fallen] on their faces - blind, dumb and deaf. Their refuge is Hell; every time it subsides We increase them in blazing fire

ذَٰلِكَ جَزَآؤُهُم بِأَنَّهُمْ كَفَرُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا وَقَالُوٓاْ أَ۟ذَا كُنَّا عِظَٰماٗ وَرُفَٰتاً اِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ خَلْقاٗ جَدِيداًۖ ﱡ

Dhâlika jazâ'uhum bi'annahum kafarû bi'âyâtinâ waqâlû adhâ kunnâ ‘izâman warufâtani nnâ lamab‘ûthûna khalqan jadîdâ

Telle sera leur sanction parce qu'ils ne croient pas en Nos preuves et disent: «Quand nous serons ossements et poussière, serons-nous ressuscités en une nouvelle création?»

That is their recompense because they disbelieved in Our verses and said, "When we are bones and crumbled particles, will we [truly] be resurrected [in] a new creation

۞ اَوَلَمْ يَرَوَاْ اَنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ اَ۬لذِے خَلَقَ اَ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالَارْضَ قَادِرٌ عَلَىٰٓ أَنْ يَّخْلُقَ مِثْلَهُمْ وَجَعَلَ لَهُمُۥٓ أَجَلاٗ لَّا رَيْبَ فِيهِۖ فَأَبَى اَ۬لظَّٰلِمُونَ إِلَّا كُفُوراٗۖ ﱢ

Awalam yarawa nna llâha lladhî khalaqa ssamâwâti walarda qâdirun ‘alâ ay yakhluqa mithlahum waja‘ala lahumû ajalal lâ rayba fîhi fa'abâ zzâlimûna illâ kufûrâ

N'ont-ils pas vu qu'Allah qui a créé les cieux et la terre est capable de créer leurs pareils? Il leur a fixé un terme, sur lequel il n'y a aucun doute, mais les injustes s'obstinent dans leur mécréance

Do they not see that Allah, who created the heavens and earth, is [the one] Able to create the likes of them? And He has appointed for them a term, about which there is no doubt. But the wrongdoers refuse [anything] except disbelief

قُل لَّوَ اَنتُمْ تَمْلِكُونَ خَزَآئِنَ رَحْمَةِ رَبِّيَ إِذاٗ لَّأَمْسَكْتُمْ خَشْيَةَ اَ۬لِانفَاقِۖ وَكَانَ اَ۬لِانسَٰنُ قَتُوراٗۖ ﱣ

Qul lawa ntum tamlikûna khazâ'ina rahmati rabbiya idhal la'amsaktum khashyata linfâqi wakâna linsânu qatûrâ

Dis: «Si c'était vous qui possédiez les trésors de la miséricorde de mon Seigneur, vous lésineriez, certes, de peur de les dépenser. Et l'homme est très avare

Say [to them], "If you possessed the depositories of the mercy of my Lord, then you would withhold out of fear of spending." And ever has man been stingy

وَلَقَدَ اٰتَيْنَا مُوس۪ىٰ تِسْعَ ءَايَٰتِۢ بَيِّنَٰتٖۖ فَسْـَٔلْ بَنِےٓ إِسْرَآءِيلَ إِذْ جَآءَهُمْ فَقَالَ لَهُۥ فِرْعَوْنُ إِنِّے لَأَظُنُّكَ يَٰمُوس۪ىٰ مَسْحُوراٗۖ ﱤ

Walaqada âtaynâ mûsê tis‘a âyâtim bayyinâtin fas'al banî isrâ'îla idh jâ'ahum faqâla lahû fir‘awnu innî la'azunnuka yâmûsê mashûrâ

Et certes, Nous donnâmes à Moïse neuf miracles évidents. Demande donc aux Enfants d'Israël, lorsqu'il leur vint et que Pharaon lui dit: «O Moïse, je pense que tu es ensorcelé»

And We had certainly given Moses nine evident signs, so ask the Children of Israel [about] when he came to them and Pharaoh said to him, "Indeed I think, O Moses, that you are affected by magic

قَالَ لَقَدْ عَلِمْتَ مَآ أَنزَلَ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ الَّا رَبُّ اُ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالَارْضِ بَصَآئِرَۖ وَإِنِّے لَأَظُنُّكَ يَٰفِرْعَوْنُ مَثْبُوراٗۖ ﱥ

Qâla laqad ‘alimta mâ anzala hâ'ulâ'i âllâ rabbu ssamâwâti walardi basâ'ira wa'innî la'azunnuka yâfir‘awnu mathbûrâ

Il dit: «Tu sais fort bien que ces choses [les miracles], seul le Seigneur des cieux et de la terre les a fait descendre comme autant de preuves illuminantes; et certes, O Pharaon, je te crois perdu»

[Moses] said, "You have already known that none has sent down these [signs] except the Lord of the heavens and the earth as evidence, and indeed I think, O Pharaoh, that you are destroyed

فَأَرَادَ أَنْ يَّسْتَفِزَّهُم مِّنَ اَ۬لَارْضِ فَأَغْرَقْنَٰهُ وَمَن مَّعَهُۥ جَمِيعاٗۖ ﱦ

Fa'arâda ay yastafizzahum mina lardi fa'aghraqnâhu wamam ma‘ahû jamî‘â

[Pharaon] voulut donc les expulser du pays. Alors Nous les noyâmes tous, lui et ceux qui étaient avec lui

So he intended to drive them from the land, but We drowned him and those with him all together

وَقُلْنَا مِنۢ بَعْدِهِۦ لِبَنِےٓ إِسْرَآءِيلَ اَ۟سْكُنُواْ اُ۬لَارْضَۖ فَإِذَا جَآءَ وَعْدُ اُ۬لَاخِرَةِ جِئْنَا بِكُمْ لَفِيفاٗۖ ﱧ

Waqulnâ mim ba‘dihî libanî isrâ'îla skunû larda fa'idhâ jâ'a wa‘du lakhirati jî'nâ bikum lafîfâ

Et après lui, Nous dîmes aux Enfants d'Israël: «Habitez la terre». Puis, lorsque viendra la promesse de la (vie) dernière, Nous vous ferons venir en foule

And We said after Pharaoh to the Children of Israel, "Dwell in the land, and when there comes the promise of the Hereafter, We will bring you forth in [one] gathering

وَبِالْحَقِّ أَنزَلْنَٰهُۖ وَبِالْحَقِّ نَزَلَۖ وَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَٰكَ إِلَّا مُبَشِّراٗ وَنَذِيراٗۖ ﱨ

Wabiâlhaqqi anzalnâhu wabiâlhaqqi nazala wamâ arsalnâka illâ mubashshiran wanadhîrâ

Et c'est en toute vérité que Nous l'avons fait descendre (le Coran), et avec la vérité il est descendu, et Nous ne t'avons envoyé qu'en annonciateur et avertisseur

And with the truth We have sent the Qur'an down, and with the truth it has descended. And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], except as a bringer of good tidings and a warner

وَقُرْءَاناٗ فَرَقْنَٰهُ لِتَقْرَأَهُۥ عَلَى اَ۬لنَّاسِ عَلَىٰ مُكْثٖۖ وَنَزَّلْنَٰهُ تَنزِيلاٗۖ ﱩ

Waqur'ânan faraqnâhu litaqra'ahû ‘alâ nnâsi ‘alâ mukthin wanazzalnâhu tanzîlâ

(Nous avons fait descendre) un Coran que Nous avons fragmenté, pour que tu le lises lentement aux gens. Et Nous l'avons fait descendre graduellement

And [it is] a Qur'an which We have separated [by intervals] that you might recite it to the people over a prolonged period. And We have sent it down progressively

قُلَ اٰمِنُواْ بِهِۦٓ أَوْ لَا تُومِنُوٓاْۖ إِنَّ اَ۬لذِينَ أُوتُواْ اُ۬لْعِلْمَ مِن قَبْلِهِۦٓ إِذَا يُتْل۪ىٰ عَلَيْهِمْ يَخِرُّونَ لِلَاذْقَانِ سُجَّداٗ وَيَقُولُونَ سُبْحَٰنَ رَبِّنَآ إِن كَانَ وَعْدُ رَبِّنَا لَمَفْعُولاٗۖ ﱪ

Qula âminû bihî aw lâ tûminû inna lladhîna ûtû l‘ilma min qablihî idhâ yutlê ‘alayhim yakhirrûna lilâdhqâni sujjadan wayaqûlûna subhâna rabbinâ in kâna wa‘du rabbinâ lamaf‘ûlâ

Dis: «Croyez-y ou n'y croyez pas. Ceux à qui la connaissance a été donnée avant cela, lorsqu'on le leur récite, tombent, prosternés, le menton contre terre et disent: «Gloire à notre Seigneur! La promesse de notre Seigneur est assurément accomplie»

Say, "Believe in it or do not believe. Indeed, those who were given knowledge before it - when it is recited to them, they fall upon their faces in prostration And they say, "Exalted is our Lord! Indeed, the promise of our Lord has been fulfilled

وَيَخِرُّونَ لِلَاذْقَانِ يَبْكُونَ وَيَزِيدُهُمْ خُشُوعاٗۖ۩ ﱫ

Wayakhirrûna lilâdhqâni yabkûna wayazîduhum khushû‘â

Et ils tombent sur leur menton, pleurant, et cela augmente leur humilité

And they fall upon their faces weeping, and the Qur'an increases them in humble submission

قُلُ اُ۟دْعُواْ اُ۬للَّهَ أَوُ اُ۟دْعُواْ اُ۬لرَّحْمَٰنَۖ أَيّاٗ مَّا تَدْعُواْ فَلَهُ اُ۬لَاسْمَآءُ اُ۬لْحُسْن۪ىٰۖ وَلَا تَجْهَرْ بِصَلَاتِكَ وَلَا تُخَافِتْ بِهَا وَابْتَغِ بَيْنَ ذَٰلِكَ سَبِيلاٗۖ ﱬ

Qulu d‘û llâha awu d‘û rrahmâna ayyam mâ tad‘û falahu lasmâ'u lhusnê walâ tajhar bisalâtika walâ tukhâfit bihâ wabtaghi bayna dhâlika sabîlâ

Dis: «Invoquez Allah, ou invoquez le Tout Miséricordieux. Quel que soit le nom par lequel vous l'appelez, Il a les plus beaux noms. Et dans ta Salât, ne récite pas à voix haute; et ne l'y abaisse pas trop, mais cherche le juste milieu entre les deux»

Say, "Call upon Allah or call upon the Most Merciful. Whichever [name] you call - to Him belong the best names." And do not recite [too] loudly in your prayer or [too] quietly but seek between that an [intermediate] way

وَقُلِ اِ۬لْحَمْدُ لِلهِ اِ۬لذِے لَمْ يَتَّخِذْ وَلَداٗ وَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُۥ شَرِيكٞ فِے اِ۬لْمُلْكِ وَلَمْ يَكُن لَّهُۥ وَلِيّٞ مِّنَ اَ۬لذُّلِّۖ وَكَبِّرْهُ تَكْبِيراًۖ ﱭ

Waquli lhamdu lillâhi lladhî lam yattakhidh waladan walam yakul lahû sharîkun fî lmulki walam yakul lahû waliyyum mina dhdhulli wakabbirhu takbîrâ

Et dis: «Louange à Allah qui ne S'est jamais attribué d'enfant, qui n'a point d'associé en la royauté et qui n'a jamais eu de protecteur de l'humiliation». Et proclame hautement Sa grandeur

And say, "Praise to Allah, who has not taken a son and has had no partner in [His] dominion and has no [need of a] protector out of weakness; and glorify Him with [great] glorification
