كَٓه۪ي۪عَٓصَٓۖ ذِكْرُ رَحْمَتِ رَبِّكَ عَبْدَهُۥ زَكَرِيَّآءَ ﰀ

Kâf hâ yâ ‘ayn sâd dhikru rahmati rabbika ‘abdahû zakariyyâ'

Kâf, Hâ', Yâ', 'Aîn, Sâd C'est un récit de la miséricorde de ton Seigneur envers Son serviteur Zacharie

Kaf, Ha, Ya, 'Ayn, Sad [This is] a mention of the mercy of your Lord to His servant Zechariah

ا۪ذْ نَاد۪ىٰ رَبَّهُۥ نِدَآءً خَفِيّاٗۖ ﰁ

Edh nâdê rabbahû nidâ'an khafiyyâ

Lorsqu'il invoqua son Seigneur d'une invocation secrète

When he called to his Lord a private supplication

قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّے وَهَنَ اَ۬لْعَظْمُ مِنِّے وَاشْتَعَلَ اَ۬لرَّأْسُ شَيْباٗ وَلَمَ اَكُنۢ بِدُعَآئِكَ رَبِّ شَقِيّاٗۖ ﰂ

Qâla rabbi innî wahana l‘azmu minnî washta‘ala rra'su shayban walama kum bidu‘â'ika rabbi shaqiyyâ

et dit: «O mon Seigneur, mes os sont affaiblis et ma tête s'est enflammée de cheveux blancs. [Cependant], je n'ai jamais été malheureux [déçu] en te priant, ô mon Seigneur

He said, "My Lord, indeed my bones have weakened, and my head has filled with white, and never have I been in my supplication to You, my Lord, unhappy

وَإِنِّے خِفْتُ اُ۬لْمَوَٰلِيَ مِنْ وَّرَآءِے وَكَانَتِ اِ۪مْرَأَتِے عَاقِراٗ فَهَبْ لِے مِن لَّدُنكَ وَلِيّاٗ ﰃ

Wa'innî khiftu lmawâliya miw warâ'î wakânati mra'atî ‘âqiran fahab lî mil ladunka waliyyâ

Je crains [le comportement] de mes héritiers, après moi. Et ma propre femme est stérile. Accorde-moi, de Ta part, un descendant

And indeed, I fear the successors after me, and my wife has been barren, so give me from Yourself an heir

يَرِثُنِے وَيَرِثُ مِنَ اٰلِ يَعْقُوبَۖ وَاجْعَلْهُ رَبِّ رَضِيّاٗۖ ﰄ

Yarithunî wayarithu mina âli ya‘qûba waj‘alhu rabbi radiyyâ

qui hérite de moi et hérite de la famille de Jacob. Et fais qu'il te soit agréable, ô mon Seigneur»

Who will inherit me and inherit from the family of Jacob. And make him, my Lord, pleasing [to You]

۞ يَٰزَكَرِيَّآءُ اِ۪نَّا نُبَشِّرُكَ بِغُلَٰمٍ اِ۪سْمُهُۥ يَحْي۪ىٰ لَمْ نَجْعَل لَّهُۥ مِن قَبْلُ سَمِيّاٗۖ ﰅ

Yâzakariyyâ'u nnâ nubashshiruka bighulâmini smuhû yahyê lam naj‘al lahû min qablu samiyyâ

«O Zacharie, Nous t'annonçons la bonne nouvelle d'un fils. Son nom sera Yahya [Jean]. Nous ne lui avons pas donné auparavant d'homonyme»

[He was told], "O Zechariah, indeed We give you good tidings of a boy whose name will be John. We have not assigned to any before [this] name

قَالَ رَبِّ أَنّ۪ىٰ يَكُونُ لِے غُلَٰمٞ وَكَانَتِ اِ۪مْرَأَتِے عَاقِراٗ وَقَدْ بَلَغْتُ مِنَ اَ۬لْكِبَرِ عُتِيّاٗۖ ﰆ

Qâla rabbi annê yakûnu lî ghulâmun wakânati mra'atî ‘âqiran waqad balaghtu mina lkibari ‘utiyyâ

Et [Zacharie dit]: «O mon Seigneur, comment aurai-je un fils, quand ma femme est stérile et que je suis très avancé en vieillesse?»

He said, "My Lord, how will I have a boy when my wife has been barren and I have reached extreme old age

قَالَ كَذَٰلِكَ قَالَ رَبُّكَ هُوَ عَلَيَّ هَيِّنٞ وَقَدْ خَلَقْتُكَ مِن قَبْلُ وَلَمْ تَكُ شَئْاٗۖ ﰇ

Qâla kadhâlika qâla rabbuka huwa ‘alayya hayyinun waqad khalaqtuka min qablu walam taku shay'â

[Allah] lui dit: «Ainsi sera-t-il! Ton Seigneur a dit: «Ceci m'est facile. Et avant cela, Je t'ai créé alors que tu n'étais rien»

[An angel] said, "Thus [it will be]; your Lord says, 'It is easy for Me, for I created you before, while you were nothing

قَالَ رَبِّ اِ۪جْعَل لِّيَ ءَايَةٗۖ قَالَ ءَايَتُكَ أَلَّا تُكَلِّمَ اَ۬لنَّاسَ ثَلَٰثَ لَيَالٖ سَوِيّاٗۖ ﰈ

Qâla rabbi j‘al liya âyatan qâla âyatuka allâ tukallima nnâsa thalâtha layâlin sawiyyâ

«O mon Seigneur, dit [Zacharie], accorde-moi un signe». «Ton signe, dit [Allah,] sera que tu ne pourras pas parler aux gens pendant trois nuits tout en étant bien portant

[Zechariah] said, "My Lord, make for me a sign." He said, "Your sign is that you will not speak to the people for three nights, [being] sound

فَخَرَجَ عَلَىٰ قَوْمِهِۦ مِنَ اَ۬لْمِحْرَابِ فَأَوْح۪ىٰٓ إِلَيْهِمُۥٓ أَن سَبِّحُواْ بُكْرَةٗ وَعَشِيّاٗۖ ﰉ

Fakharaja ‘alâ qawmihî mina lmihrâbi fa'awhê ilayhimû an sabbihû bukratan wa‘ashiyyâ

Il sortit donc du sanctuaire vers son peuple; puis il leur fit signe de prier matin et soir

So he came out to his people from the prayer chamber and signaled to them to exalt [Allah] in the morning and afternoon

يَٰيَحْي۪ىٰ خُذِ اِ۬لْكِتَٰبَ بِقُوَّةٖۖ وَءَاتَيْنَٰهُ اُ۬لْحُكْمَ صَبِيّاٗۖ ﰊ

Yâyahyê khudhi lkitâba biquwwatin wa'âtaynâhu lhukma sabiyyâ

«O Yahya, tiens fermement au Livre (la Thora)!» Nous lui donnâmes la sagesse alors qu'il était enfant

[Allah] said, "O John, take the Scripture with determination." And We gave him judgement [while yet] a boy

وَحَنَاناٗ مِّن لَّدُنَّا وَزَكَوٰةٗۖ وَكَانَ تَقِيّاٗۖ ﰋ

Wahanânam mil ladunnâ wazakawâtan wakâna taqiyyâ

ainsi que la tendresse de Notre part et la pureté. Il était pieux

And affection from Us and purity, and he was fearing of Allah

وَبَرّاَۢ بِوَٰلِدَيْهِ وَلَمْ يَكُن جَبَّاراً عَصِيّاٗۖ ﰌ

Wabarram biwâlidayhi walam yakun jabbâran ‘asiyyâ

et dévoué envers ses père et mère; et ne fut ni violent ni désobéissant

And dutiful to his parents, and he was not a disobedient tyrant

وَسَلَٰمٌ عَلَيْهِ يَوْمَ وُلِدَ وَيَوْمَ يَمُوتُ وَيَوْمَ يُبْعَثُ حَيّاٗۖ ﰍ

Wasalâmun ‘alayhi yawma wulida wayawma yamûtu wayawma yub‘athu hayyâ

Que la paix soit sur lui le jour où il naquit, le jour où il mourra, et le jour où il sera ressuscité vivant

And peace be upon him the day he was born and the day he dies and the day he is raised alive

وَاذْكُرْ فِے اِ۬لْكِتَٰبِ مَرْيَمَ إِذِ اِ۪نتَبَذَتْ مِنَ اَهْلِهَا مَكَاناٗ شَرْقِيّاٗ ﰎ

Wadhkur fî lkitâbi maryama idhi ntabadhat mina hlihâ makânan sharqiyyâ

Mentionne, dans le Livre (le Coran), Marie, quand elle se retira de sa famille en un lieu vers l'Orient

And mention, [O Muhammad], in the Book [the story of] Mary, when she withdrew from her family to a place toward the east

فَاتَّخَذَتْ مِن دُونِهِمْ حِجَاباٗۖ فَأَرْسَلْنَآ إِلَيْهَا رُوحَنَا فَتَمَثَّلَ لَهَا بَشَراٗ سَوِيّاٗۖ ﰏ

Fattakhadhat min dûnihim hijâban fa'arsalnâ ilayhâ rûhanâ fatamaththala lahâ basharan sawiyyâ

Elle mit entre elle et eux un voile. Nous lui envoyâmes Notre Esprit (Gabriel), qui se présenta à elle sous la forme d'un homme parfait

And she took, in seclusion from them, a screen. Then We sent to her Our Angel, and he represented himself to her as a well-proportioned man

قَالَتِ اِنِّيَ أَعُوذُ بِالرَّحْمَٰنِ مِنكَ إِن كُنتَ تَقِيّاٗۖ ﰐ

Qâlati nniya a‘ûdhu birrahmâni minka in kunta taqiyyâ

Elle dit: «Je me réfugie contre toi auprès du Tout Miséricordieux. Si tu es pieux, [ne m'approche point].»

She said, "Indeed, I seek refuge in the Most Merciful from you, [so leave me], if you should be fearing of Allah

قَالَ إِنَّمَآ أَنَا رَسُولُ رَبِّكِ لِاَهَبَ لَكِ غُلَٰماٗ زَكِيّاٗۖ ﰑ

Qâla innamâ anâ rasûlu rabbiki liahaba laki ghulâman zakiyyâ

Il dit: «Je suis en fait un Messager de ton Seigneur pour te faire don d'un fils pur»

He said, "I am only the messenger of your Lord to give you [news of] a pure boy

قَالَتَ اَنّ۪ىٰ يَكُونُ لِے غُلَٰمٞ وَلَمْ يَمْسَسْنِے بَشَرٞ وَلَمَ اَكُ بَغِيّاٗۖ ﰒ

Qâlata nnê yakûnu lî ghulâmun walam yamsasnî basharun walama ku baghiyyâ

Elle dit: «Comment aurais-je un fils, quand aucun homme ne m'a touchée, et que je ne suis pas prostituée?»

She said, "How can I have a boy while no man has touched me and I have not been unchaste

قَالَ كَذَٰلِكِ قَالَ رَبُّكِ هُوَ عَلَيَّ هَيِّنٞۖ وَلِنَجْعَلَهُۥٓ ءَايَةٗ لِّلنَّاسِ وَرَحْمَةٗ مِّنَّاۖ وَكَانَ أَمْراٗ مَّقْضِيّاٗۖ ﰓ

Qâla kadhâliki qâla rabbuki huwa ‘alayya hayyinun walinaj‘alahû âyatal linnâsi warahmatam minnâ wakâna amram maqdiyyâ

Il dit: «Ainsi sera-t-il! Cela M'est facile, a dit ton Seigneur! Et Nous ferons de lui un signe pour les gens, et une miséricorde de Notre part. C'est une affaire déjà décidée»

He said, "Thus [it will be]; your Lord says, 'It is easy for Me, and We will make him a sign to the people and a mercy from Us. And it is a matter [already] decreed

۞ فَحَمَلَتْهُ فَانتَبَذَتْ بِهِۦ مَكَاناٗ قَصِيّاٗۖ ﰔ

Fahamalathu fântabadhat bihî makânan qasiyyâ

Elle devint donc enceinte [de l'enfant], et elle se retira avec lui en un lieu éloigné

So she conceived him, and she withdrew with him to a remote place

فَأَجَآءَهَا اَ۬لْمَخَاضُ إِلَىٰ جِذْعِ اِ۬لنَّخْلَةِ قَالَتْ يَٰلَيْتَنِے مِتُّ قَبْلَ هَٰذَا وَكُنتُ نِسْياٗ مَّنسِيّاٗۖ ﰕ

Fa'ajâ'ahâ lmakhâdu ilâ jidh‘i nnakhlati qâlat yâlaytanî mittu qabla hâdhâ wakuntu nisyam mansiyyâ

Puis les douleurs de l'enfantement l'amenèrent au tronc du palmier, et elle dit: «Malheur à moi! Que je fusse morte avant cet instant! Et que je fusse totalement oubliée!»

And the pains of childbirth drove her to the trunk of a palm tree. She said, "Oh, I wish I had died before this and was in oblivion, forgotten

فَنَاد۪يٰهَا مِن تَحْتِهَآ أَلَّا تَحْزَنِے قَدْ جَعَلَ رَبُّكِ تَحْتَكِ سَرِيّاٗۖ ﰖ

Fanâdêhâ min tahtihâ allâ tahzanî qad ja‘ala rabbuki tahtaki sariyyâ

Alors, il l'appela d'au-dessous d'elle, [lui disant:] «Ne t'afflige pas. Ton Seigneur a placé à tes pieds une source

But he called her from below her, "Do not grieve; your Lord has provided beneath you a stream

وَهُزِّےٓ إِلَيْكِ بِجِذْعِ اِ۬لنَّخْلَةِ تَسَّٰقَطْ عَلَيْكِ رُطَباٗ جَنِيّاٗۖ ﰗ

Wahuzzî ilayki bijidh‘i nnakhlati tassâqat ‘alayki rutaban janiyyâ

Secoue vers toi le tronc du palmier: il fera tomber sur toi des dattes fraîches et mûres

And shake toward you the trunk of the palm tree; it will drop upon you ripe, fresh dates

فَكُلِے وَاشْرَبِے وَقَرِّے عَيْناٗۖ فَإِمَّا تَرَيِنَّ مِنَ اَ۬لْبَشَرِ أَحَداٗ فَقُولِےٓ إِنِّے نَذَرْتُ لِلرَّحْمَٰنِ صَوْماٗ فَلَنُ ا۟كَلِّمَ اَ۬لْيَوْمَ إِنسِيّاٗۖ ﰘ

Fakulî washrabî waqarrî ‘aynan fa'immâ tarayinna mina lbashari ahadan faqûlî innî nadhartu lirrahmâni sawman falanu ukallima lyawma insiyyâ

Mange donc et bois et que ton œil se réjouisse! Si tu vois quelqu'un d'entre les humains, dis [lui:] «Assurément, j'ai voué un jeûne au Tout Miséricordieux: je ne parlerai donc aujourd'hui à aucun être humain»

So eat and drink and be contented. And if you see from among humanity anyone, say, 'Indeed, I have vowed to the Most Merciful abstention, so I will not speak today to [any] man

فَأَتَتْ بِهِۦ قَوْمَهَا تَحْمِلُهُۥۖ قَالُواْ يَٰمَرْيَمُ لَقَدْ جِئْتِ شَئْاٗ فَرِيّاٗۖ ﰙ

Fa'atat bihî qawmahâ tahmiluhû qâlû yâmaryamu laqad jî'ti shay'an fariyyâ

Puis elle vint auprès des siens en le portant [le bébé]. Ils dirent: «O Marie, tu as fait une chose monstrueuse

Then she brought him to her people, carrying him. They said, "O Mary, you have certainly done a thing unprecedented

يَٰٓأُخْتَ هَٰرُونَ مَا كَانَ أَبُوكِ اِ۪مْرَأَ سَوْءٖ وَمَا كَانَتُ ا۟مُّكِ بَغِيّاٗۖ ﰚ

Yâ'ukhta hârûna mâ kâna abûki mra'a saw'in wamâ kânatu ummuki baghiyyâ

«Sœur de Hârûn, ton père n'était pas un homme de mal et ta mère n'était pas une prostituée»

O sister of Aaron, your father was not a man of evil, nor was your mother unchaste

فَأَشَارَتِ اِلَيْهِۖ قَالُواْ كَيْفَ نُكَلِّمُ مَن كَانَ فِے اِ۬لْمَهْدِ صَبِيّاٗۖ ﰛ

Fa'ashârati layhi qâlû kayfa nukallimu man kâna fî lmahdi sabiyyâ

Elle fit alors un signe vers lui [le bébé]. Ils dirent: «Comment parlerions-nous à un bébé au berceau?»

So she pointed to him. They said, "How can we speak to one who is in the cradle a child

قَالَ إِنِّے عَبْدُ اُ۬للَّهِ ءَات۪يٰنِيَ اَ۬لْكِتَٰبَ وَجَعَلَنِے نَبِيٓـٔاٗ ﰜ

Qâla innî ‘abdu llâhi âtêniya lkitâba waja‘alanî nabî'â

Mais (le bébé) dit: «Je suis vraiment le serviteur d'Allah. Il m'a donné le Livre et m'a désigné Prophète

[Jesus] said, "Indeed, I am the servant of Allah. He has given me the Scripture and made me a prophet

وَجَعَلَنِے مُبَٰرَكاً اَيْنَ مَا كُنتُ وَأَوْصٰ۪نِے بِالصَّلَوٰةِ وَالزَّكَوٰةِ مَا دُمْتُ حَيّاٗ ﰝ

Waja‘alanî mubârakana yna mâ kuntu wa'awsênî bissalawâti wazzakawâti mâ dumtu hayyâ

Où que je sois, Il m'a rendu béni; et Il m'a recommandé, tant que je vivrai, la prière et la Zakât

And He has made me blessed wherever I am and has enjoined upon me prayer and zakah as long as I remain alive

وَبَرّاَۢ بِوَٰلِدَتِےۖ وَلَمْ يَجْعَلْنِے جَبَّاراٗ شَقِيّاٗۖ ﰞ

Wabarram biwâlidatî walam yaj‘alnî jabbâran shaqiyyâ

et la bonté envers ma mère. Il ne m'a fait ni violent ni malheureux

And [made me] dutiful to my mother, and He has not made me a wretched tyrant

وَالسَّلَٰمُ عَلَيَّ يَوْمَ وُلِدتُّ وَيَوْمَ أَمُوتُ وَيَوْمَ أُبْعَثُ حَيّاٗۖ ﰟ

Wassalâmu ‘alayya yawma wulidttu wayawma amûtu wayawma ub‘athu hayyâ

Et que la paix soit sur moi le jour où je naquis, le jour où je mourrai, et le jour où je serai ressuscité vivant.»

And peace is on me the day I was born and the day I will die and the day I am raised alive

ذَٰلِكَ عِيسَى اَ۪بْنُ مَرْيَمَۖ قَوْلُ اُ۬لْحَقِّ اِ۬لذِے فِيهِ يَمْتَرُونَۖ ﰠ

Dhâlika ‘îsâ bnu maryama qawlu lhaqqi lladhî fîhi yamtarûn

Tel est Issa (Jésus), fils de Marie: parole de vérité, dont ils doutent

That is Jesus, the son of Mary - the word of truth about which they are in dispute

مَا كَانَ لِلهِ أَنْ يَّتَّخِذَ مِنْ وَّلَدٖۖ سُبْحَٰنَهُۥٓۖ إِذَا قَض۪ىٰٓ أَمْراٗ فَإِنَّمَا يَقُولُ لَهُۥ كُنۖ فَيَكُونُۖ ﰡ

Mâ kâna lillâhi ay yattakhidha miw waladin subhânahû idhâ qadê amran fa'innamâ yaqûlu lahû kun fayakûn

Il ne convient pas à Allah de S'attribuer un fils. Gloire et Pureté à Lui! Quand Il décide d'une chose, Il dit seulement: «Sois!» et elle est

It is not [befitting] for Allah to take a son; exalted is He! When He decrees an affair, He only says to it, "Be," and it is

وَأَنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ رَبِّے وَرَبُّكُمْ فَاعْبُدُوهُۖ هَٰذَا صِرَٰطٞ مُّسْتَقِيمٞۖ ﰢ

Wa'anna llâha rabbî warabbukum fa‘budûhu hâdhâ sirâtum mustaqîm

Certes, Allah est mon Seigneur tout comme votre Seigneur. Adorez-le donc. Voilà un droit chemin»

[Jesus said], "And indeed, Allah is my Lord and your Lord, so worship Him. That is a straight path

فَاخْتَلَفَ اَ۬لَاحْزَابُ مِنۢ بَيْنِهِمْۖ فَوَيْلٞ لِّلذِينَ كَفَرُواْ مِن مَّشْهَدِ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٍۖ ﰣ

Fakhtalafa lahzâbu mim baynihim fawaylul lilladhîna kafarû mim mashhadi yawmin ‘azîm

[par la suite,] les sectes divergèrent entre elles. Alors, malheur aux mécréants lors de la vue d'un jour terrible

Then the factions differed [concerning Jesus] from among them, so woe to those who disbelieved - from the scene of a tremendous Day

اَسْمِعْ بِهِمْ وَأَبْصِرْ يَوْمَ يَاتُونَنَاۖ لَٰكِنِ اِ۬لظَّٰلِمُونَ اَ۬لْيَوْمَ فِے ضَلَٰلٖ مُّبِينٖۖ ﰤ

Asmi‘ bihim wa'absir yawma yâtûnanâ lâkini zzâlimûna lyawma fî dalâlim mubîn

Comme ils entendront et verront bien le jour où ils viendront à Nous! Mais aujourd'hui, les injustes sont dans un égarement évident

How [clearly] they will hear and see the Day they come to Us, but the wrongdoers today are in clear error

وَأَنذِرْهُمْ يَوْمَ اَ۬لْحَسْرَةِ إِذْ قُضِيَ اَ۬لَامْرُ وَهُمْ فِے غَفْلَةٖ وَهُمْ لَا يُومِنُونَۖ ﰥ

Wa'andhirhum yawma lhasrati idh qudiya lamru wahum fî ghaflatin wahum lâ yûminûn

Et avertis-les du jour du Regret, quand tout sera réglé; alors qu'ils sont [dans ce monde] inattentifs et qu'ils ne croient pas

And warn them, [O Muhammad], of the Day of Regret, when the matter will be concluded; and [yet], they are in [a state of] heedlessness, and they do not believe

إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَرِثُ اُ۬لَارْضَ وَمَنْ عَلَيْهَاۖ وَإِلَيْنَا يُرْجَعُونَۖ ﰦ

Innâ nahnu narithu larda waman ‘alayhâ wa'ilaynâ yurja‘ûn

C'est Nous, en vérité, qui hériterons la terre et tout ce qui s'y trouve, et c'est à Nous qu'ils seront ramenés

Indeed, it is We who will inherit the earth and whoever is on it, and to Us they will be returned

۞ وَاذْكُرْ فِے اِ۬لْكِتَٰبِ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ ﰧ

Wadhkur fî lkitâbi ibrâhîm

Et mentionne dans le Livre, Abraham. C'était un très véridique et un Prophète

And mention in the Book [the story of] Abraham. Indeed, he was a man of truth and a prophet

إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ صِدِّيقاٗ نَّبِيٓـٔاً ﰨ

Innahû kâna siddîqan nabî'â

اِذْ قَالَ لِأَبِيهِ يَٰٓأَبَتِ لِمَ تَعْبُدُ مَا لَا يَسْمَعُ وَلَا يُبْصِرُ وَلَا يُغْنِے عَنكَ شَئْاٗۖ ﰩ

Idh qâla li'abîhi yâ'abati lima ta‘budu mâ lâ yasma‘u walâ yubsiru walâ yughnî ‘anka shay'â

Lorsqu'il dit à son père: «O mon père, pourquoi adores-tu ce qui n'entend ni ne voit, et ne te profite en rien

[Mention] when he said to his father, "O my father, why do you worship that which does not hear and does not see and will not benefit you at all

يَٰٓأَبَتِ إِنِّے قَدْ جَآءَنِے مِنَ اَ۬لْعِلْمِ مَا لَمْ يَاتِكَ فَاتَّبِعْنِےٓ أَهْدِكَ صِرَٰطاٗ سَوِيّاٗۖ ﰪ

Yâ'abati innî qad jâ'anî mina l‘ilmi mâ lam yâtika fattabi‘nî ahdika sirâtan sawiyyâ

O mon père, il m'est venu de la science ce que tu n'as pas reçu; suis-moi, donc, je te guiderai sur une voie droite

O my father, indeed there has come to me of knowledge that which has not come to you, so follow me; I will guide you to an even path

يَٰٓأَبَتِ لَا تَعْبُدِ اِ۬لشَّيْطَٰنَۖ إِنَّ اَ۬لشَّيْطَٰنَ كَانَ لِلرَّحْمَٰنِ عَصِيّاٗۖ ﰫ

Yâ'abati lâ ta‘budi shshaytâna inna shshaytâna kâna lirrahmâni ‘asiyyâ

O mon père, n'adore pas le Diable, car le Diable désobéit au Tout Miséricordieux

O my father, do not worship Satan. Indeed Satan has ever been, to the Most Merciful, disobedient

يَٰٓأَبَتِ إِنِّيَ أَخَافُ أَنْ يَّمَسَّكَ عَذَابٞ مِّنَ اَ۬لرَّحْمَٰنِ فَتَكُونَ لِلشَّيْطَٰنِ وَلِيّاٗۖ ﰬ

Yâ'abati inniya akhâfu ay yamassaka ‘adhâbum mina rrahmâni fatakûna lishshaytâni waliyyâ

O mon père, je crains qu'un châtiment venant du Tout Miséricordieux ne te touche et que tu ne deviennes un allié du Diable»

O my father, indeed I fear that there will touch you a punishment from the Most Merciful so you would be to Satan a companion [in Hellfire]

قَالَ أَرَاغِبٌ اَنتَ عَنَ اٰلِهَتِےۖ يَٰٓإِبْرَٰهِيمُ لَئِن لَّمْ تَنتَهِ لَأَرْجُمَنَّكَ وَاهْجُرْنِے مَلِيّاٗۖ ﰭ

Qâla arâghibuna nta ‘ana âlihatî yâ'ibrâhîmu la'il lam tantahi la'arjumannaka wahjurnî maliyyâ

Il dit: «O Abraham, aurais-tu du dédain pour mes divinités? Si tu ne cesses pas, certes je te lapiderai, éloigne-toi de moi pour bien longtemps»

[His father] said, "Have you no desire for my gods, O Abraham? If you do not desist, I will surely stone you, so avoid me a prolonged time

قَالَ سَلَٰمٌ عَلَيْكَ سَأَسْتَغْفِرُ لَكَ رَبِّيَ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ بِے حَفِيّاٗ ﰮ

Qâla salâmun ‘alayka sa'astaghfiru laka rabbiya innahû kâna bî hafiyyâ

«Paix sur toi», dit Abraham. «J'implorerai mon Seigneur de te pardonner car Il m'a toujours comblé de Ses bienfaits

[Abraham] said, "Peace will be upon you. I will ask forgiveness for you of my Lord. Indeed, He is ever gracious to me

وَأَعْتَزِلُكُمْ وَمَا تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ اِ۬للَّهِ وَأَدْعُواْ رَبِّے عَس۪ىٰٓ أَلَّآ أَكُونَ بِدُعَآءِ رَبِّے شَقِيّاٗۖ ﰯ

Wa'a‘tazilukum wamâ tad‘ûna min dûni llâhi wa'ad‘û rabbî ‘asê allâ akûna bidu‘â'i rabbî shaqiyyâ

Je me sépare de vous, ainsi que de ce que vous invoquez, en dehors d'Allah, et j'invoquerai mon Seigneur. J'espère ne pas être malheureux dans mon appel à mon Seigneur»

And I will leave you and those you invoke other than Allah and will invoke my Lord. I expect that I will not be in invocation to my Lord unhappy

فَلَمَّا اَ۪عْتَزَلَهُمْ وَمَا يَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ اِ۬للَّهِ وَهَبْنَا لَهُۥٓ إِسْحَٰقَ وَيَعْقُوبَۖ وَكُلّاٗ جَعَلْنَا نَبِيٓـٔاٗۖ ﰰ

Falammâ ‘tazalahum wamâ ya‘budûna min dûni llâhi wahabnâ lahû ishâqa waya‘qûba wakullan ja‘alnâ nabî'â

Puis, lorsqu'il se fut séparé d'eux et de ce qu'ils adoraient en dehors d'Allah, Nous lui fîmes don d'Isaac et de Jacob; et de chacun Nous fîmes un prophète

So when he had left them and those they worshipped other than Allah, We gave him Isaac and Jacob, and each [of them] We made a prophet

وَوَهَبْنَا لَهُم مِّن رَّحْمَتِنَا وَجَعَلْنَا لَهُمْ لِسَانَ صِدْقٍ عَلِيّاٗۖ ﰱ

Wawahabnâ lahum mir rahmatinâ waja‘alnâ lahum lisâna sidqin ‘aliyyâ

Et Nous leur donnâmes de par Notre miséricorde, et Nous leur accordâmes un langage sublime de vérité

And We gave them of Our mercy, and we made for them a reputation of high honor

وَاذْكُرْ فِے اِ۬لْكِتَٰبِ مُوس۪ىٰٓ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ مُخْلِصاٗ وَكَانَ رَسُولاٗ نَّبِيٓـٔاٗۖ ﰲ

Wadhkur fî lkitâbi mûsê innahû kâna mukhlisan wakâna rasûlan nabî'â

Et mentionne dans le Livre Moïse. C'était vraiment un élu, et c'était un Messager et un prophète

And mention in the Book, Moses. Indeed, he was chosen, and he was a messenger and a prophet

وَنَٰدَيْنَٰهُ مِن جَانِبِ اِ۬لطُّورِ اِ۬لَايْمَنِ وَقَرَّبْنَٰهُ نَجِيّاٗۖ ﰳ

Wanâdaynâhu min jânibi ttûri laymani waqarrabnâhu najiyyâ

Du côté droit du Mont (Sinaï) Nous l'appelâmes et Nous le fîmes approcher tel un confident

And We called him from the side of the mount at [his] right and brought him near, confiding [to him]

وَوَهَبْنَا لَهُۥ مِن رَّحْمَتِنَآ أَخَاهُ هَٰرُونَ نَبِيٓـٔاٗۖ ﰴ

Wawahabnâ lahû mir rahmatinâ akhâhu hârûna nabî'â

Et par Notre miséricorde, Nous lui donnâmes Aaron son frère comme prophète

And We gave him out of Our mercy his brother Aaron as a prophet

وَاذْكُرْ فِے اِ۬لْكِتَٰبِ إِسْمَٰعِيلَ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ صَادِقَ اَ۬لْوَعْدِ وَكَانَ رَسُولاٗ نَّبِيٓـٔاٗ ﰵ

Wadhkur fî lkitâbi ismâ‘îla innahû kâna sâdiqa lwa‘di wakâna rasûlan nabî'â

Et mentionne Ismaël, dans le Livre. Il était fidèle à ses promesses; et c'était un Messager et un prophète

And mention in the Book, Ishmael. Indeed, he was true to his promise, and he was a messenger and a prophet

وَكَانَ يَامُرُ أَهْلَهُۥ بِالصَّلَوٰةِ وَالزَّكَوٰةِۖ وَكَانَ عِندَ رَبِّهِۦ مَرْضِيّاٗۖ ﰶ

Wakâna yâmuru ahlahû bissalawâti wazzakawâti wakâna ‘inda rabbihî mardiyyâ

Et il commandait à sa famille la prière et la Zakât; et il était agréé auprès de son Seigneur

And he used to enjoin on his people prayer and zakah and was to his Lord pleasing

وَاذْكُرْ فِے اِ۬لْكِتَٰبِ إِدْرِيسَ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ صِدِّيقاٗ نَّبِيٓـٔاٗۖ ﰷ

Wadhkur fî lkitâbi idrîsa innahû kâna siddîqan nabî'â

Et mentionne Idris, dans le Livre. C'était un véridique et un prophète

And mention in the Book, Idrees. Indeed, he was a man of truth and a prophet

وَرَفَعْنَٰهُ مَكَاناً عَلِيّاًۖ ﰸ

Warafa‘nâhu makânan ‘aliyyâ

Et Nous l'élevâmes à un haut rang

And We raised him to a high station

ا۟وْلَٰٓئِكَ اَ۬لذِينَ أَنْعَمَ اَ۬للَّهُ عَلَيْهِم مِّنَ اَ۬لنَّبِيٓـِٕۧنَ مِن ذُرِّيَّةِ ءَادَمَ وَمِمَّنْ حَمَلْنَا مَعَ نُوحٖ وَمِن ذُرِّيَّةِ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَإِسْرَآءِيلَ وَمِمَّنْ هَدَيْنَا وَاجْتَبَيْنَآۖ إِذَا تُتْل۪ىٰ عَلَيْهِمُۥٓ ءَايَٰتُ اُ۬لرَّحْمَٰنِ خَرُّواْ سُجَّداٗ وَبُكِيّاٗۖ۩ ﰹ

Ulâ'ika lladhîna an‘ama llâhu ‘alayhim mina nnabî'ina min dhurriyyati âdama wamimman hamalnâ ma‘a nûhin wamin dhurriyyati ibrâhîma wa'isrâ'îla wamimman hadaynâ wajtabaynâ idhâ tutlê ‘alayhimû âyâtu rrahmâni kharrû sujjadan wabukiyyâ

Voilà ceux qu'Allah a comblés de faveurs, parmi les prophètes, parmi les descendants d'Adam, et aussi parmi ceux que Nous avons transportés en compagnie de Noé, et parmi la descendance d'Abraham et d'Israël, et parmi ceux que Nous avons guidés et choisis. Quand les versets du Tout Miséricordieux leur étaient récités, ils tombaient prosternés en pleurant

Those were the ones upon whom Allah bestowed favor from among the prophets of the descendants of Adam and of those We carried [in the ship] with Noah, and of the descendants of Abraham and Israel, and of those whom We guided and chose. When the verses of the Most Merciful were recited to them, they fell in prostration and weeping

۞ فَخَلَفَ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِمْ خَلْفٌ اَضَاعُواْ اُ۬لصَّلَوٰةَ وَاتَّبَعُواْ اُ۬لشَّهَوَٰتِ فَسَوْفَ يَلْقَوْنَ غَيّاً ﰺ

Fakhalafa mim ba‘dihim khalfuna dâ‘û ssalawâta wattaba‘û shshahawâti fasawfa yalqawna ghayyâ

Puis leur succédèrent des générations qui délaissèrent la prière et suivirent leurs passions. Ils se trouveront en perdition

But there came after them successors who neglected prayer and pursued desires; so they are going to meet evil

اِلَّا مَن تَابَ وَءَامَنَ وَعَمِلَ صَٰلِحاٗ فَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ يَدْخُلُونَ اَ۬لْجَنَّةَ وَلَا يُظْلَمُونَ شَئْاٗ ﰻ

Illâ man tâba wa'âmana wa‘amila sâlihan fa'ulâ'ika yadkhulûna ljannata walâ yuzlamûna shay'â

sauf celui qui se repent, croit et fait le bien: ceux-là entreront dans le Paradis et ne seront point lésés

Except those who repent, believe and do righteousness; for those will enter Paradise and will not be wronged at all

جَنَّٰتِ عَدْنٍ اِ۬لتِے وَعَدَ اَ۬لرَّحْمَٰنُ عِبَادَهُۥ بِالْغَيْبِۖ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ وَعْدُهُۥ مَاتِيّاٗۖ ﰼ

Jannâti ‘adnini llatî wa‘ada rrahmânu ‘ibâdahû bilghaybi innahû kâna wa‘duhû mâtiyyâ

aux jardins du séjour (éternel) que le Tout Miséricordieux a promis à Ses serviteurs, [qui ont cru] au mystère. Car Sa promesse arrivera sans nul doute

[Therein are] gardens of perpetual residence which the Most Merciful has promised His servants in the unseen. Indeed, His promise has ever been coming

لَّا يَسْمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغْواًۖ اِلَّا سَلَٰماٗۖ وَلَهُمْ رِزْقُهُمْ فِيهَا بُكْرَةٗ وَعَشِيّاٗۖ ﰽ

Lâ yasma‘ûna fîhâ laghwani llâ salâman walahum rizquhum fîhâ bukratan wa‘ashiyyâ

On n'y entend nulle parole insignifiante; seulement: «Salâm»; et ils auront là leur nourriture, matin et soir

They will not hear therein any ill speech - only [greetings of] peace - and they will have their provision therein, morning and afternoon

تِلْكَ اَ۬لْجَنَّةُ اُ۬لتِے نُورِثُ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا مَن كَانَ تَقِيّاٗۖ ﰾ

Tilka ljannatu llatî nûrithu min ‘ibâdinâ man kâna taqiyyâ

Voilà le Paradis dont Nous ferons hériter ceux de Nos serviteurs qui auront été pieux

That is Paradise, which We give as inheritance to those of Our servants who were fearing of Allah

وَمَا نَتَنَزَّلُ إِلَّا بِأَمْرِ رَبِّكَۖ لَهُۥ مَا بَيْنَ أَيْدِينَا وَمَا خَلْفَنَا وَمَا بَيْنَ ذَٰلِكَۖ وَمَا كَانَ رَبُّكَ نَسِيّاٗۖ ﰿ

Wamâ natanazzalu illâ bi'amri rabbika lahû mâ bayna aydînâ wamâ khalfanâ wamâ bayna dhâlika wamâ kâna rabbuka nasiyyâ

«Nous ne descendons que sur ordre de ton Seigneur. A Lui tout ce qui est devant nous, tout ce qui est derrière nous et tout ce qui est entre les deux. Ton Seigneur n'oublie rien

[Gabriel said], "And we [angels] descend not except by the order of your Lord. To Him belongs that before us and that behind us and what is in between. And never is your Lord forgetful

رَّبُّ اُ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالَارْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا فَاعْبُدْهُ وَاصْطَبِرْ لِعِبَٰدَتِهِۦۖ هَلْ تَعْلَمُ لَهُۥ سَمِيّاٗۖ ﱀ

Rabbu ssamâwâti walardi wamâ baynahumâ fa‘budhu wastabir li‘ibâdatihî hal ta‘lamu lahû samiyyâ

Il est le Seigneur des cieux et de la terre et de tout ce qui est entre eux. Adore-Le donc, et sois constant dans Son adoration. Lui connais-tu un homonyme?»

Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatever is between them - so worship Him and have patience for His worship. Do you know of any similarity to Him

وَيَقُولُ اُ۬لِانسَٰنُ أَ۟ذَا مَا مِتُّ لَسَوْفَ أُخْرَجُ حَيّاًۖ ﱁ

Wayaqûlu linsânu adhâ mâ mittu lasawfa ukhraju hayyâ

Et l'homme dit: «Une fois mort, me sortira-t-on vivant?»

And the disbeliever says, "When I have died, am I going to be brought forth alive

اَوَلَا يَذْكُرُ اُ۬لِانسَٰنُ أَنَّا خَلَقْنَٰهُ مِن قَبْلُ وَلَمْ يَكُ شَئْاٗۖ ﱂ

Awalâ yadhkuru linsânu annâ khalaqnâhu min qablu walam yaku shay'â

L'homme ne se rappelle-t-il pas qu'avant cela, c'est Nous qui l'avons créé, alors qu'il n'était rien

Does man not remember that We created him before, while he was nothing

فَوَرَبِّكَ لَنَحْشُرَنَّهُمْ وَالشَّيَٰطِينَ ثُمَّ لَنُحْضِرَنَّهُمْ حَوْلَ جَهَنَّمَ جُثِيّاٗۖ ﱃ

Fawarabbika lanahshurannahum washshayâtîna thumma lanuhdirannahum hawla jahannama juthiyyâ

Par ton Seigneur! Assurément, Nous les rassemblerons, eux et les diables. Puis, Nous les placerons autour de l'Enfer, agenouillés

So by your Lord, We will surely gather them and the devils; then We will bring them to be present around Hell upon their knees

ثُمَّ لَنَنزِعَنَّ مِن كُلِّ شِيعَةٍ اَيُّهُمُۥٓ أَشَدُّ عَلَى اَ۬لرَّحْمَٰنِ عُتِيّاٗۖ ﱄ

Thumma lananzi‘anna min kulli shî‘atina yyuhumû ashaddu ‘alâ rrahmâni ‘utiyyâ

Ensuite, Nous arracherons de chaque groupe ceux d'entre eux qui étaient les plus obstinés contre le Tout Miséricordieux

Then We will surely extract from every sect those of them who were worst against the Most Merciful in insolence

ثُمَّ لَنَحْنُ أَعْلَمُ بِالذِينَ هُمُۥٓ أَوْل۪ىٰ بِهَا صُلِيّاٗۖ ﱅ

Thumma lanahnu a‘lamu billadhîna humû awlê bihâ suliyyâ

Puis nous sommes Le meilleur à savoir ceux qui méritent le plus d'y être brûlés

Then, surely it is We who are most knowing of those most worthy of burning therein

وَإِن مِّنكُمُۥٓ إِلَّا وَارِدُهَا كَانَ عَلَىٰ رَبِّكَ حَتْماٗ مَّقْضِيّاٗۖ ﱆ

Wa'im minkumû illâ wâriduhâ kâna ‘alâ rabbika hatmam maqdiyyâ

Il n'y a personne parmi vous qui ne passera pas par [L'Enfer]: Car [il s'agit là] pour ton Seigneur d'une sentence irrévocable

And there is none of you except he will come to it. This is upon your Lord an inevitability decreed

ثُمَّ نُنَجِّے اِ۬لذِينَ اَ۪تَّقَواْ وَّنَذَرُ اُ۬لظَّٰلِمِينَ فِيهَا جُثِيّاٗۖ ﱇ

Thumma nunajjî lladhîna ttaqaw wanadharu zzâlimîna fîhâ juthiyyâ

Ensuite, Nous délivrerons ceux qui étaient pieux et Nous y laisserons les injustes agenouillés

Then We will save those who feared Allah and leave the wrongdoers within it, on their knees

وَإِذَا تُتْل۪ىٰ عَلَيْهِمُۥٓ ءَايَٰتُنَا بَيِّنَٰتٖ قَالَ اَ۬لذِينَ كَفَرُواْ لِلذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ أَيُّ اُ۬لْفَرِيقَيْنِ خَيْرٞ مَّقَاماٗ وَأَحْسَنُ نَدِيّاٗۖ ﱈ

Wa'idhâ tutlê ‘alayhimû âyâtunâ bayyinâtin qâla lladhîna kafarû lilladhîna âmanû ayyu lfarîqayni khayrum maqâman wa'ahsanu nadiyyâ

Et lorsque Nos versets évidents leur sont récités les mécréants disent à ceux qui croient: «Lequel des deux groupes a la situation la plus confortable et la meilleure compagnie?»

And when Our verses are recited to them as clear evidences, those who disbelieve say to those who believe, "Which of [our] two parties is best in position and best in association

وَكَمَ اَهْلَكْنَا قَبْلَهُم مِّن قَرْنٍ هُمُۥٓ أَحْسَنُ أَثَٰثاٗ وَرِءْياٗۖ ﱉ

Wakama hlaknâ qablahum min qarnin humû ahsanu athâthan wari'yâ

Combien de générations, avant eux, avons-Nous fait périr, qui les surpassaient en biens et en apparence

And how many a generation have We destroyed before them who were better in possessions and [outward] appearance

۞ قُلْ مَن كَانَ فِے اِ۬لضَّلَٰلَةِ فَلْيَمْدُدْ لَهُ اُ۬لرَّحْمَٰنُ مَدّاًۖ ﱊ

Qul man kâna fî ddalâlati falyamdud lahu rrahmânu maddâ

Dis: «Celui qui est dans l'égarement, que le Tout Miséricordieux prolonge sa vie pour un certain temps, jusqu'à ce qu'ils voient soit le châtiment, soit l'Heure dont ils sont menacés. Alors, ils sauront qui a la pire situation et la troupe la plus faible»

Say, "Whoever is in error - let the Most Merciful extend for him an extension [in wealth and time] until, when they see that which they were promised - either punishment [in this world] or the Hour [of resurrection] - they will come to know who is worst in position and weaker in soldiers

حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا رَأَوْاْ مَا يُوعَدُونَ إِمَّا اَ۬لْعَذَابَ وَإِمَّا اَ۬لسَّاعَةَ فَسَيَعْلَمُونَ مَنْ هُوَ شَرّٞ مَّكَاناٗ وَأَضْعَفُ جُنداٗۖ ﱋ

Hattâ idhâ ra'aw mâ yû‘adûna immâ l‘adhâba wa'immâ ssâ‘ata fasaya‘lamûna man huwa sharrum makânan wa'ad‘afu jundâ

وَيَزِيدُ اُ۬للَّهُ اُ۬لذِينَ اَ۪هْتَدَوْاْ هُدىٗۖ وَالْبَٰقِيَٰتُ اُ۬لصَّٰلِحَٰتُ خَيْرٌ عِندَ رَبِّكَ ثَوَاباٗ وَخَيْرٞ مَّرَدّاًۖ ﱌ

Wayazîdu llâhu lladhîna htadaw hudan walbâqiyâtu ssâlihâtu khayrun ‘inda rabbika thawâban wakhayrum maraddâ

Allah accroît la rectitude de ceux qui suivent le bon chemin, et les bonnes œuvres durables méritent auprès de ton Seigneur une meilleure récompense et une meilleure destination

And Allah increases those who were guided, in guidance, and the enduring good deeds are better to your Lord for reward and better for recourse

اَفَرَٰٓيْتَ اَ۬لذِے كَفَرَ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا وَقَالَ لَأُوتَيَنَّ مَالاٗ وَوَلَداً ﱍ

Afarâyta lladhî kafara bi'âyâtinâ waqâla la'ûtayanna mâlan wawaladâ

As-tu vu celui qui ne croit pas à Nos versets et dit: «On me donnera certes des biens et des enfants»

Then, have you seen he who disbelieved in Our verses and said, "I will surely be given wealth and children [in the next life]

اَطَّلَعَ اَ۬لْغَيْبَ أَمِ اِ۪تَّخَذَ عِندَ اَ۬لرَّحْمَٰنِ عَهْداٗ ﱎ

Attala‘a lghayba ami ttakhadha ‘inda rrahmâni ‘ahdâ

Est-il au courant de l'Inconnaissable ou a-t-il pris un engagement avec le Tout Miséricordieux

Has he looked into the unseen, or has he taken from the Most Merciful a promise

كَلَّاۖ سَنَكْتُبُ مَا يَقُولُ وَنَمُدُّ لَهُۥ مِنَ اَ۬لْعَذَابِ مَدّاٗۖ ﱏ

Kallâ sanaktubu mâ yaqûlu wanamuddu lahû mina l‘adhâbi maddâ

Bien au contraire! Nous enregistrerons ce qu'il dit et accroîtrons son châtiment

No! We will record what he says and extend for him from the punishment extensively

وَنَرِثُهُۥ مَا يَقُولُ وَيَاتِينَا فَرْداٗۖ ﱐ

Wanarithuhû mâ yaqûlu wayâtînâ fardâ

C'est Nous qui hériterons ce dont il parle, tandis qu'il viendra à Nous, tout seul

And We will inherit him [in] what he mentions, and he will come to Us alone

وَاتَّخَذُواْ مِن دُونِ اِ۬للَّهِ ءَالِهَةٗ لِّيَكُونُواْ لَهُمْ عِزّاٗ ﱑ

Wattakhadhû min dûni llâhi âlihatal liyakûnû lahum ‘izzâ

Ils ont adopté des divinités en dehors d'Allah pour qu'ils leur soient des protecteurs (contre le châtiment)

And they have taken besides Allah [false] deities that they would be for them [a source of] honor

كَلَّاۖ سَيَكْفُرُونَ بِعِبَادَتِهِمْ وَيَكُونُونَ عَلَيْهِمْ ضِدّاًۖ ﱒ

Kallâ sayakfurûna bi‘ibâdatihim wayakûnûna ‘alayhim diddâ

Bien au contraire! [ces divinités] renieront leur adoration et seront pour eux des adversaires

No! Those "gods" will deny their worship of them and will be against them opponents [on the Day of Judgement]

اَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا اَ۬لشَّيَٰطِينَ عَلَى اَ۬لْكٰ۪فِرِينَ تَؤُزُّهُمُۥٓ أَزّاٗۖ ﱓ

Alam tara annâ arsalnâ shshayâtîna ‘alâ lkêfirîna ta'uzzuhumû azzâ

N'as-tu pas vu que Nous avons envoyé contre les mécréants des diables qui les excitent furieusement [à désobéir]

Do you not see that We have sent the devils upon the disbelievers, inciting them to [evil] with [constant] incitement

فَلَا تَعْجَلْ عَلَيْهِمُۥٓۖ إِنَّمَا نَعُدُّ لَهُمْ عَدّاٗۖ ﱔ

Falâ ta‘jal ‘alayhimû innamâ na‘uddu lahum ‘addâ

Ne te hâte donc pas contre eux: Nous tenons un compte précis de [tous leurs actes]

So be not impatient over them. We only count out to them a [limited] number

يَوْمَ نَحْشُرُ اُ۬لْمُتَّقِينَ إِلَى اَ۬لرَّحْمَٰنِ وَفْداٗ ﱕ

Yawma nahshuru lmuttaqîna ilâ rrahmâni wafdâ

(Rappelle-toi) le jour où Nous rassemblerons les pieux sur des montures et en grande pompe, auprès du Tout Miséricordieux

On the Day We will gather the righteous to the Most Merciful as a delegation

وَنَسُوقُ اُ۬لْمُجْرِمِينَ إِلَىٰ جَهَنَّمَ وِرْداٗۖ ﱖ

Wanasûqu lmujrimîna ilâ jahannama wirdâ

et pousserons les criminels à l'Enfer comme (un troupeau) à l'abreuvoir

And will drive the criminals to Hell in thirst

لَّا يَمْلِكُونَ اَ۬لشَّفَٰعَةَ إِلَّا مَنِ اِ۪تَّخَذَ عِندَ اَ۬لرَّحْمَٰنِ عَهْداٗۖ ﱗ

Lâ yamlikûna shshafâ‘ata illâ mani ttakhadha ‘inda rrahmâni ‘ahdâ

ils ne disposeront d'aucune intercession, sauf celui qui aura pris un engagement avec le Tout Miséricordieux

None will have [power of] intercession except he who had taken from the Most Merciful a covenant

وَقَالُواْ اُ۪تَّخَذَ اَ۬لرَّحْمَٰنُ وَلَداٗۖ ﱘ

Waqâlû ttakhadha rrahmânu waladâ

Et ils ont dit: «Le Tout Miséricordieux S'est attribué un enfant!»

And they say, "The Most Merciful has taken [for Himself] a son

لَّقَدْ جِئْتُمْ شَئْاً اِدّاٗ ﱙ

Laqad jî'tum shay'ani ddâ

Vous avancez certes là une chose abominable

You have done an atrocious thing

يَكَادُ اُ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتُ يَتَفَطَّرْنَ مِنْهُ وَتَنشَقُّ اُ۬لَارْضُ وَتَخِرُّ اُ۬لْجِبَالُ هَدّاً ﱚ

Yakâdu ssamâwâtu yatafattarna minhu watanshaqqu lardu watakhirru ljibâlu haddâ

Peu s'en faut que les cieux ne s'entrouvrent à ces mots, que la terre ne se fende et que les montagnes ne s'écroulent

The heavens almost rupture therefrom and the earth splits open and the mountains collapse in devastation

اَن دَعَوْاْ لِلرَّحْمَٰنِ وَلَداٗۖ ﱛ

An da‘aw lirrahmâni waladâ

du fait qu'ils ont attribué un enfant au Tout Miséricordieux

That they attribute to the Most Merciful a son

وَمَا يَنۢبَغِے لِلرَّحْمَٰنِ أَنْ يَّتَّخِذَ وَلَداًۖ ﱜ

Wamâ yambaghî lirrahmâni ay yattakhidha waladâ

alors qu'il ne convient nullement au Tout Miséricordieux d'avoir un enfant

And it is not appropriate for the Most Merciful that He should take a son

اِن كُلُّ مَن فِے اِ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالَارْضِ إِلَّآ ءَاتِے اِ۬لرَّحْمَٰنِ عَبْداٗۖ ﱝ

In kullu man fî ssamâwâti walardi illâ âtî rrahmâni ‘abdâ

Tous ceux qui sont dans les cieux et sur la terre se rendront auprès du Tout Miséricordieux, [sans exception], en serviteurs

There is no one in the heavens and earth but that he comes to the Most Merciful as a servant

لَّقَدَ اَحْص۪يٰهُمْ وَعَدَّهُمْ عَدّاٗۖ ﱞ

Laqada hsêhum wa‘addahum ‘addâ

Il les a certes dénombrés et bien comptés

He has enumerated them and counted them a [full] counting

وَكُلُّهُمُۥٓ ءَاتِيهِ يَوْمَ اَ۬لْقِيَٰمَةِ فَرْداًۖ ﱟ

Wakulluhumû âtîhi yawma lqiyâmati fardâ

Et au Jour de la Résurrection, chacun d'eux se rendra seul auprès de Lui

And all of them are coming to Him on the Day of Resurrection alone

اِنَّ اَ۬لذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ اُ۬لصَّٰلِحَٰتِ سَيَجْعَلُ لَهُمُ اُ۬لرَّحْمَٰنُ وُدّاٗۖ ﱠ

Inna lladhîna âmanû wa‘amilû ssâlihâti sayaj‘alu lahumu rrahmânu wuddâ

A ceux qui croient et font de bonnes œuvres, le Tout Miséricordieux accordera Son amour

Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds - the Most Merciful will appoint for them affection

فَإِنَّمَا يَسَّرْنَٰهُ بِلِسَانِكَ لِتُبَشِّرَ بِهِ اِ۬لْمُتَّقِينَ وَتُنذِرَ بِهِۦ قَوْماٗ لُّدّاٗۖ ﱡ

Fa'innamâ yassarnâhu bilisânika litubashshira bihi lmuttaqîna watundhira bihî qawmal luddâ

Nous l'avons rendu (le Coran) facile [à comprendre] en ta langue, afin que tu annonces par lui la bonne nouvelle aux gens pieux, et que, tu avertisses un peuple irréductible

So, [O Muhammad], We have only made Qur'an easy in the Arabic language that you may give good tidings thereby to the righteous and warn thereby a hostile people

وَكَمَ اَهْلَكْنَا قَبْلَهُم مِّن قَرْنٍ هَلْ تُحِسُّ مِنْهُم مِّنَ اَحَدٍ اَوْ تَسْمَعُ لَهُمْ رِكْزاٗۖ ﱢ

Wakama hlaknâ qablahum min qarnin hal tuhissu minhum mina hadina w tasma‘u lahum rikzâ

Que de générations avant eux avons-Nous fait périr! En retrouves-tu un seul individu? ou en entends-tu le moindre murmure

And how many have We destroyed before them of generations? Do you perceive of them anyone or hear from them a sound
