إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحاً اِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِۦٓ أَنَ اَنذِرْ قَوْمَكَ مِن قَبْلِ أَنْ يَّاتِيَهُمْ عَذَابٌ اَلِيمٞۖ ﰀ

Innâ arsalnâ nûhani lâ qawmihî ana ndhir qawmaka min qabli ay yâtiyahum ‘adhâbuna lîm

Nous avons envoyé Noé vers son peuple: «Avertis ton peuple, avant que leur vienne un châtiment douloureux»

Indeed, We sent Noah to his people, [saying], "Warn your people before there comes to them a painful punishment

قَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ إِنِّے لَكُمْ نَذِيرٞ مُّبِينٌ ﰁ

Qâla yâqawmi innî lakum nadhîrum mubîn

Il [leur] dit: «O mon peuple, je suis vraiment pour vous, un avertisseur clair

He said, "O my people, indeed I am to you a clear warner

اَنُ اُ۟عْبُدُواْ اُ۬للَّهَ وَاتَّقُوهُ وَأَطِيعُونِ ﰂ

Anu ‘budû llâha wattaqûhu wa'atî‘ûn

Adorez Allah, craignez-Le et obéissez-moi

[Saying], 'Worship Allah, fear Him and obey me

يَغْفِرْ لَكُم مِّن ذُنُوبِكُمْ وَيُوَ۬خِّرْكُمُۥٓ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٖ مُّسَمّىًۖ اِنَّ أَجَلَ اَ۬للَّهِ إِذَا جَآءَ لَا يُوَ۬خَّرُ لَوْ كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَۖ ﰃ

Yaghfir lakum min dhunûbikum wayuwakhkhirkumû ilâ ajalim musammani nna ajala llâhi idhâ jâ'a lâ yuwakhkharu law kuntum ta‘lamûn

pour qu'Il vous pardonne vos péchés et qu'Il vous donne un délai jusqu'à un terme fixé. Mais quand vient le terme fixé par Allah, il ne saurait être différé si vous saviez!»

Allah will forgive you of your sins and delay you for a specified term. Indeed, the time [set by] Allah, when it comes, will not be delayed, if you only knew

قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّے دَعَوْتُ قَوْمِے لَيْلاٗ وَنَهَاراٗ ﰄ

Qâla rabbi innî da‘awtu qawmî laylan wanahârâ

Il dit: «Seigneur! J'ai appelé mon peuple, nuit et jour

He said, "My Lord, indeed I invited my people [to truth] night and day

فَلَمْ يَزِدْهُمْ دُعَآءِيَ إِلَّا فِرَاراٗۖ ﰅ

Falam yazidhum du‘â'iya illâ firârâ

Mais mon appel n'a fait qu'accroître leur fuite

But my invitation increased them not except in flight

وَإِنِّے كُلَّمَا دَعَوْتُهُمْ لِتَغْفِرَ لَهُمْ جَعَلُوٓاْ أَصَٰبِعَهُمْ فِےٓ ءَاذَانِهِمْ وَاسْتَغْشَوْاْ ثِيَابَهُمْ وَأَصَرُّواْ وَاسْتَكْبَرُواْ اُ۪سْتِكْبَاراٗۖ ﰆ

Wa'innî kullamâ da‘awtuhum litaghfira lahum ja‘alû asâbi‘ahum fî âdhânihim wastaghshaw thiyâbahum wa'asarrû wastakbarû stikbârâ

Et chaque fois que je les ai appelés pour que Tu leur pardonnes, ils ont mis leurs doigts dans leurs oreilles. se sont enveloppés de leurs vêtements, se sont entêtés et se sont montrés extrêmement orgueilleux

And indeed, every time I invited them that You may forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, covered themselves with their garments, persisted, and were arrogant with [great] arrogance

ثُمَّ إِنِّے دَعَوْتُهُمْ جِهَاراٗۖ ﰇ

Thumma innî da‘awtuhum jihârâ

Ensuite, je les ai appelés ouvertement

Then I invited them publicly

ثُمَّ إِنِّيَ أَعْلَنتُ لَهُمْ وَأَسْرَرْتُ لَهُمُۥٓ إِسْرَاراٗ ﰈ

Thumma inniya a‘lantu lahum wa'asrartu lahumû isrârâ

Puis, je leur ai fait des proclamations publiques, et des confidences en secret

Then I announced to them and [also] confided to them secretly

فَقُلْتُ اُ۪سْتَغْفِرُواْ رَبَّكُمُۥٓ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ غَفَّاراٗ ﰉ

Faqultu staghfirû rabbakumû innahû kâna ghaffârâ

J'ai donc dit: «Implorez le pardon de votre Seigneur, car Il est grand Pardonneur

And said, 'Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Indeed, He is ever a Perpetual Forgiver

يُرْسِلِ اِ۬لسَّمَآءَ عَلَيْكُم مِّدْرَاراٗ ﰊ

Yursili ssamâ'a ‘alaykum midrârâ

pour qu'Il vous envoie du ciel, des pluies abondantes

He will send [rain from] the sky upon you in [continuing] showers

وَيُمْدِدْكُم بِأَمْوَٰلٖ وَبَنِينَ وَيَجْعَل لَّكُمْ جَنَّٰتٖ وَيَجْعَل لَّكُمُۥٓ أَنْهَٰراٗۖ ﰋ

Wayumdidkum bi'amwâlin wabanîna wayaj‘al lakum jannâtin wayaj‘al lakumû anhârâ

et qu'Il vous accorde beaucoup de biens et d'enfants, et vous donne des jardins et vous donne des rivières

And give you increase in wealth and children and provide for you gardens and provide for you rivers

مَّا لَكُمْ لَا تَرْجُونَ لِلهِ وَقَاراٗ ﰌ

Mâ lakum lâ tarjûna lillâhi waqârâ

Qu'avez-vous à ne pas vénérer Allah comme il se doit

What is [the matter] with you that you do not attribute to Allah [due] grandeur

وَقَدْ خَلَقَكُمُۥٓ أَطْوَاراًۖ ﰍ

Waqad khalaqakumû atwârâ

alors qu'Il vous a créés par phases successives

While He has created you in stages

۞ اَلَمْ تَرَوْاْ كَيْفَ خَلَقَ اَ۬للَّهُ سَبْعَ سَمَٰوَٰتٖ طِبَاقاٗ ﰎ

Alam taraw kayfa khalaqa llâhu sab‘a samâwâtin tibâqâ

N'avez-vous pas vu comment Allah a créé sept cieux superposés

Do you not consider how Allah has created seven heavens in layers

وَجَعَلَ اَ۬لْقَمَرَ فِيهِنَّ نُوراٗ وَجَعَلَ اَ۬لشَّمْسَ سِرَاجاٗۖ ﰏ

Waja‘ala lqamara fîhinna nûran waja‘ala shshamsa sirâjâ

et y a fait de la lune une lumière et du soleil une lampe

And made the moon therein a [reflected] light and made the sun a burning lamp

وَاللَّهُ أَنۢبَتَكُم مِّنَ اَ۬لَارْضِ نَبَاتاٗ ﰐ

Wallâhu ambatakum mina lardi nabâah

Et c'est Allah qui, de la terre, vous a fait croître comme des plantes

And Allah has caused you to grow from the earth a [progressive] growth

ثُمَّ يُعِيدُكُمْ فِيهَا وَيُخْرِجُكُمُۥٓ إِخْرَاجاٗۖ ﰑ

Thumma yu‘îdukum fîhâ wayukhrijukumû ikhrâjâ

puis Il vous y fera retourner et vous en fera sortir véritablement

Then He will return you into it and extract you [another] extraction

وَاللَّهُ جَعَلَ لَكُمُ اُ۬لَارْضَ بِسَاطاٗ ﰒ

Wallâhu ja‘ala lakumu larda bisâah

Et c'est Allah qui vous a fait de la terre un tapis

And Allah has made for you the earth an expanse

لِّتَسْلُكُواْ مِنْهَا سُبُلاٗ فِجَاجاٗۖ ﰓ

Litaslukû minhâ subulan fijâjâ

pour que vous vous acheminiez par ses voies spacieuses»

That you may follow therein roads of passage

قَالَ نُوحٞ رَّبِّ إِنَّهُمْ عَصَوْنِے وَاتَّبَعُواْ مَن لَّمْ يَزِدْهُ مَالُهُۥ وَوَلَدُهُۥٓ إِلَّا خَسَاراٗ ﰔ

Qâla nûhur rabbi innahum ‘asawnî wattaba‘û mal lam yazidhu mâluhû wawaladuhû illâ khasârâ

Noé dit: «Seigneur, ils m'ont désobéi et ils ont suivi celui dont les biens et les enfants n'ont fait qu'accroître la perte

Noah said, "My Lord, indeed they have disobeyed me and followed him whose wealth and children will not increase him except in loss

وَمَكَرُواْ مَكْراٗ كُبَّاراٗۖ ﰕ

Wamakarû makran kubbârâ

Ils ont ourdi un immense stratagème

And they conspired an immense conspiracy

وَقَالُواْ لَا تَذَرُنَّ ءَالِهَتَكُمْ وَلَا تَذَرُنَّ وُدّاٗ وَلَا سُوَاعاٗ ﰖ

Waqâlû lâ tadharunna âlihatakum walâ tadharunna wuddan walâ suwâ‘â

et ils ont dit: «N'abandonnez jamais vos divinités et n'abandonnez jamais Wadd, Suwâ, Yaghhû, Ya'ûq et Nasr

And said, 'Never leave your gods and never leave Wadd or Suwa' or Yaghuth and Ya'uq and Nasr

وَلَا يَغُوثَ وَيَعُوقَ وَنَسْراٗۖ ﰗ

Walâ yaghûtha waya‘ûqa wanasrâ

وَقَدَ اَضَلُّواْ كَثِيراٗۖ وَلَا تَزِدِ اِ۬لظَّٰلِمِينَ إِلَّا ضَلَٰلاٗۖ ﰘ

Waqada dallû kathîran walâ tazidi zzâlimîna illâ dalâlâ

Elles [les idoles] ont déjà égaré plusieurs. Ne fais (Seigneur) croître les injustes qu'en égarement

And already they have misled many. And, [my Lord], do not increase the wrongdoers except in error

مِّمَّا خَطِيٓـَٰٔتِهِمُۥٓ أُغْرِقُواْ فَأُدْخِلُواْ نَاراٗ ﰙ

Mimmâ khatî'âtihimû ughriqû fa'udkhilû nârâ

A cause de leurs fautes, ils ont été noyés, puis on les a fait entrer au Feu, et ils n'ont pas trouvé en dehors d'Allah, de secoureurs»

Because of their sins they were drowned and put into the Fire, and they found not for themselves besides Allah [any] helpers

فَلَمْ يَجِدُواْ لَهُم مِّن دُونِ اِ۬للَّهِ أَنصَاراٗۖ ﰚ

Falam yajidû lahum min dûni llâhi ansârâ

وَقَالَ نُوحٞ رَّبِّ لَا تَذَرْ عَلَى اَ۬لَارْضِ مِنَ اَ۬لْكٰ۪فِرِينَ دَيَّاراًۖ ﰛ

Waqâla nûhur rabbi lâ tadhar ‘alâ lardi mina lkêfirîna dayyârâ

Et Noé dit: «Seigneur, ne laisse sur la terre aucun infidèle

And Noah said, "My Lord, do not leave upon the earth from among the disbelievers an inhabitant

اِنَّكَ إِن تَذَرْهُمْ يُضِلُّواْ عِبَادَكَ وَلَا يَلِدُوٓاْ إِلَّا فَاجِراٗ كَفَّاراٗۖ ﰜ

Innaka in tadharhum yudillû ‘ibâdaka walâ yalidû illâ fâjiran kaffârâ

Si Tu les laisses [en vie], ils égareront Tes serviteurs et n'engendreront que des pécheurs infidèles

Indeed, if You leave them, they will mislead Your servants and not beget except [every] wicked one and [confirmed] disbeliever

رَّبِّ اِ۪غْفِرْ لِے وَلِوَٰلِدَيَّ وَلِمَن دَخَلَ بَيْتِے مُومِناٗ وَلِلْمُومِنِينَ وَالْمُومِنَٰتِۖ وَلَا تَزِدِ اِ۬لظَّٰلِمِينَ إِلَّا تَبَاراٗۖ ﰝ

Rabbi ghfir lî waliwâlidayya waliman dakhala baytî mûminan walilmûminîna walmûminâti walâ tazidi zzâlimîna illâ tabârâ

Seigneur! Pardonne-moi, et à mes père et mère et à celui qui entre dans ma demeure croyant, ainsi qu'aux croyants et croyantes; et ne fais croître les injustes qu'en perdition»

My Lord, forgive me and my parents and whoever enters my house a believer and the believing men and believing women. And do not increase the wrongdoers except in destruction
