اَلَٓمِّٓصَٓۖ كِتَٰبٌ اُنزِلَ إِلَيْكَ فَلَا يَكُن فِے صَدْرِكَ حَرَجٞ مِّنْهُ لِتُنذِرَ بِهِۦ وَذِكْر۪ىٰ لِلْمُومِنِينَۖ ﰀ

Alif lâm mîm sâd kitâbunu nzila ilayka falâ yakun fî sadrika harajum minhu litundhira bihî wadhikrê lilmûminîn

Alif, Lâm, Mîm, Sâd C'est un Livre qui t'a été descendu; qu'il n'y ait, à son sujet, nulle gêne dans ton cœur; afin que par cela tu avertisses, et (qu'il soit) un Rappel aux croyants

Alif, Lam, Meem, Sad [This is] a Book revealed to you, [O Muhammad] - so let there not be in your breast distress therefrom - that you may warn thereby and as a reminder to the believers

اَ۪تَّبِعُواْ مَآ أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكُم مِّن رَّبِّكُمْۖ وَلَا تَتَّبِعُواْ مِن دُونِهِۦٓ أَوْلِيَآءَۖ قَلِيلاٗ مَّا تَذَّكَّرُونَۖ ﰁ

Attabi‘û mâ unzila ilaykum mir rabbikum walâ tattabi‘û min dûnihî awliyâ'a qalîlam mâ tadhdhakkarûn

Suivez ce qui vous a été descendu venant de votre Seigneur et ne suivez pas d'autres alliés que Lui. Mais vous vous souvenez peu

Follow, [O mankind], what has been revealed to you from your Lord and do not follow other than Him any allies. Little do you remember

وَكَم مِّن قَرْيَةٍ اَهْلَكْنَٰهَا فَجَآءَهَا بَأْسُنَا بَيَٰتاً اَوْ هُمْ قَآئِلُونَۖ ﰂ

Wakam min qaryatina hlaknâhâ fajâ'ahâ ba'sunâ bayâtana w hum qâ'ilûn

Que de cités Nous avons détruites! Or, Notre rigueur les atteignit au cours du repos nocturne ou durant leur sieste

And how many cities have We destroyed, and Our punishment came to them at night or while they were sleeping at noon

۞ فَمَا كَانَ دَعْو۪يٰهُمُۥٓ إِذْ جَآءَهُم بَأْسُنَآ إِلَّآ أَن قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّا كُنَّا ظَٰلِمِينَۖ ﰃ

Famâ kâna da‘wêhumû idh jâ'ahum ba'sunâ illâ an qâlû innâ kunnâ zâlimîn

Leur invocation, lorsque leur survint notre rigueur, se limita à ces paroles: «Certes nous étions injustes»

And their declaration when Our punishment came to them was only that they said, "Indeed, we were wrongdoers

فَلَنَسْـَٔلَنَّ اَ۬لذِينَ أُرْسِلَ إِلَيْهِمْ وَلَنَسْـَٔلَنَّ اَ۬لْمُرْسَلِينَۖ ﰄ

Falanas'alanna lladhîna ursila ilayhim walanas'alanna lmursalîn

Nous interrogerons ceux vers qui furent envoyés des messagers et Nous interrogerons aussi les envoyés

Then We will surely question those to whom [a message] was sent, and We will surely question the messengers

فَلَنَقُصَّنَّ عَلَيْهِم بِعِلْمٖۖ وَمَا كُنَّا غَآئِبِينَۖ ﰅ

Falanaqussanna ‘alayhim bi‘ilmin wamâ kunnâ ghâ'ibîn

Nous leur raconterons en toute connaissance (ce qu'ils faisaient) car Nous n'étions pas absent

Then We will surely relate [their deeds] to them with knowledge, and We were not [at all] absent

وَالْوَزْنُ يَوْمَئِذٍ اِ۬لْحَقُّۖ فَمَن ثَقُلَتْ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ فَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ اُ۬لْمُفْلِحُونَۖ ﰆ

Walwaznu yawma'idhini lhaqqu faman thaqulat mawâzînuhû fa'ulâ'ika humu lmuflihûn

Et la pesée, ce jour-là, sera équitable. Donc, celui dont les bonnes actions pèseront lourd... voilà ceux qui réussiront

And the weighing [of deeds] that Day will be the truth. So those whose scales are heavy - it is they who will be the successful

وَمَنْ خَفَّتْ مَوَٰزِينُهُۥ فَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ اَ۬لذِينَ خَسِرُوٓاْ أَنفُسَهُم بِمَا كَانُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا يَظْلِمُونَۖ ﰇ

Waman khaffat mawâzînuhû fa'ulâ'ika lladhîna khasirû anfusahum bimâ kânû bi'âyâtinâ yazlimûn

Et quant à celui dont les bonnes actions pèseront léger... voilà ceux qui auront causé la perte de leurs âmes parce qu'ils étaient injustes envers Nos enseignements

And those whose scales are light - they are the ones who will lose themselves for what injustice they were doing toward Our verses

وَلَقَدْ مَكَّنَّٰكُمْ فِے اِ۬لَارْضِ وَجَعَلْنَا لَكُمْ فِيهَا مَعَٰيِشَۖ قَلِيلاٗ مَّا تَشْكُرُونَۖ ﰈ

Walaqad makkannâkum fî lardi waja‘alnâ lakum fîhâ ma‘âyisha qalîlam mâ tashkurûn

Certes, Nous vous avons donné du pouvoir sur terre et Nous vous y avons assigné subsistance. (Mais) vous êtes très peu reconnaissants

And We have certainly established you upon the earth and made for you therein ways of livelihood. Little are you grateful

وَلَقَدْ خَلَقْنَٰكُمْ ثُمَّ صَوَّرْنَٰكُمْ ثُمَّ قُلْنَا لِلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةِ اِ۟سْجُدُواْ لِأٓدَمَ فَسَجَدُوٓاْۖ إِلَّآ إِبْلِيسَ لَمْ يَكُن مِّنَ اَ۬لسَّٰجِدِينَۖ ﰉ

Walaqad khalaqnâkum thumma sawwarnâkum thumma qulnâ lilmalâ'ikati sjudû li'dama fasajadû illâ iblîsa lam yakum mina ssâjidîn

Nous vous avons créés, puis Nous vous avons donné une forme, ensuite Nous avons dit aux Anges: «Prosternez-vous devant Adam.» Ils se prosternèrent, à l'exception de Iblis qui ne fut point de ceux qui se prosternèrent

And We have certainly created you, [O Mankind], and given you [human] form. Then We said to the angels, "Prostrate to Adam"; so they prostrated, except for Iblees. He was not of those who prostrated

قَالَ مَا مَنَعَكَ أَلَّا تَسْجُدَ إِذَ اَمَرْتُكَۖ قَالَ أَنَا خَيْرٞ مِّنْهُ خَلَقْتَنِے مِن نّ۪ارٖ وَخَلَقْتَهُۥ مِن طِينٖۖ ﰊ

Qâla mâ mana‘aka allâ tasjuda idha martuka qâla anâ khayrum minhu khalaqtanî min nêrin wakhalaqtahû min tîn

[Allah] dit: «Qu'est-ce qui t'empêche de te prosterner quand Je te l'ai commandé?» Il répondit: «Je suis meilleur que lui: Tu m'as créé de feu, alors que Tu l'as créé d'argile»

[Allah] said, "What prevented you from prostrating when I commanded you?" [Satan] said, "I am better than him. You created me from fire and created him from clay

قَالَ فَاهْبِطْ مِنْهَا فَمَا يَكُونُ لَكَ أَن تَتَكَبَّرَ فِيهَا فَاخْرُجِ اِنَّكَ مِنَ اَ۬لصَّٰغِرِينَۖ ﰋ

Qâla fahbit minhâ famâ yakûnu laka an tatakabbara fîhâ fakhruji nnaka mina ssâghirîn

[Allah] dit: «Descends d'ici, Tu n'as pas à t'enfler d'orgueil ici. Sors, te voilà parmi les méprisés.»

[Allah] said, "Descend from Paradise, for it is not for you to be arrogant therein. So get out; indeed, you are of the debased

قَالَ أَنظِرْنِےٓ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَۖ ﰌ

Qâla anzirnî ilâ yawmi yub‘athûn

«Accorde-moi un délai, dit (Satan,) jusqu'au jour où ils seront ressuscités.»

[Satan] said, "Reprieve me until the Day they are resurrected

قَالَ إِنَّكَ مِنَ اَ۬لْمُنظَرِينَۖ ﰍ

Qâla innaka mina lmunzarîn

[Allah] dit: «Tu es de ceux à qui délai est accordé.»

[Allah] said, "Indeed, you are of those reprieved

قَالَ فَبِمَآ أَغْوَيْتَنِے لَأَقْعُدَنَّ لَهُمْ صِرَٰطَكَ اَ۬لْمُسْتَقِيمَ ﰎ

Qâla fabimâ aghwaytanî la'aq‘udanna lahum sirâtaka lmustaqîm

«Puisque Tu m'as mis en erreur, dit [Satan], je m'assoirai pour eux sur Ton droit chemin

[Satan] said, "Because You have put me in error, I will surely sit in wait for them on Your straight path

ثُمَّ لَأٓتِيَنَّهُم مِّنۢ بَيْنِ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَمِنْ خَلْفِهِمْ وَعَنَ اَيْمَٰنِهِمْ وَعَن شَمَآئِلِهِمْۖ وَلَا تَجِدُ أَكْثَرَهُمْ شَٰكِرِينَۖ ﰏ

Thumma la'tiyannahum mim bayni aydîhim wamin khalfihim wa‘ana ymânihim wa‘an shamâ'ilihim walâ tajidu aktharahum shâkirîn

puis je les assaillerai de devant, de derrière, de leur droite et de leur gauche. Et, pour la plupart, Tu ne les trouveras pas reconnaissants.»

Then I will come to them from before them and from behind them and on their right and on their left, and You will not find most of them grateful [to You]

قَالَ اَ۟خْرُجْ مِنْهَا مَذْءُوماٗ مَّدْحُوراٗۖ لَّمَن تَبِعَكَ مِنْهُمْ لَأَمْلَأَنَّ جَهَنَّمَ مِنكُمُۥٓ أَجْمَعِينَۖ ﰐ

Qâla khruj minhâ madh'ûmam madhûral laman tabi‘aka minhum la'amla'anna jahannama minkumû ajma‘în

«Sors de là», dit (Allah,) banni et rejeté. Quiconque te suit parmi eux... de vous tous, J'emplirai l'Enfer»

[Allah] said, "Get out of Paradise, reproached and expelled. Whoever follows you among them - I will surely fill Hell with you, all together

وَيَٰٓـَٔادَمُ اُ۟سْكُنَ اَنتَ وَزَوْجُكَ اَ۬لْجَنَّةَ فَكُلَا مِنْ حَيْثُ شِئْتُمَاۖ وَلَا تَقْرَبَا هَٰذِهِ اِ۬لشَّجَرَةَ فَتَكُونَا مِنَ اَ۬لظَّٰلِمِينَۖ ﰑ

Wayâ'âdamu skuna nta wazawjuka ljannata fakulâ min haythu shî'tumâ walâ taqrabâ hâdhihi shshajarata fatakûnâ mina zzâlimîn

«O Adam, habite le Paradis, toi et ton épouse; et mangez en vous deux, à votre guise; et n'approchez pas l'arbre que voici; sinon, vous seriez du nombre des injustes.»

And "O Adam, dwell, you and your wife, in Paradise and eat from wherever you will but do not approach this tree, lest you be among the wrongdoers

فَوَسْوَسَ لَهُمَا اَ۬لشَّيْطَٰنُ لِيُبْدِيَ لَهُمَا مَا وُۥرِيَ عَنْهُمَا مِن سَوْءَٰتِهِمَاۖ وَقَالَ مَا نَه۪يٰكُمَا رَبُّكُمَا عَنْ هَٰذِهِ اِ۬لشَّجَرَةِ إِلَّآ أَن تَكُونَا مَلَكَيْنِ أَوْ تَكُونَا مِنَ اَ۬لْخَٰلِدِينَۖ ﰒ

Fawaswasa lahumâ shshaytânu liyubdiya lahumâ mâ wûriya ‘anhumâ min saw'âtihimâ waqâla mâ nahêkumâ rabbukumâ ‘an hâdhihi shshajarati illâ an takûnâ malakayni aw takûnâ mina lkhâlidîn

Puis le Diable, afin de leur rendre visible ce qui leur était caché - leurs nudités - leur chuchota, disant: «Votre Seigneur ne vous a interdit cet arbre que pour vous empêcher de devenir des Anges ou d'être immortels»

But Satan whispered to them to make apparent to them that which was concealed from them of their private parts. He said, "Your Lord did not forbid you this tree except that you become angels or become of the immortal

۞ وَقَاسَمَهُمَآ إِنِّے لَكُمَا لَمِنَ اَ۬لنَّٰصِحِينَ ﰓ

Waqâsamahumâ innî lakumâ lamina nnâsihîn

Et il leur jura: «Vraiment, je suis pour vous deux un bon conseiller»

And he swore [by Allah] to them, "Indeed, I am to you from among the sincere advisors

فَدَلّ۪يٰهُمَا بِغُرُورٖۖ فَلَمَّا ذَاقَا اَ۬لشَّجَرَةَ بَدَتْ لَهُمَا سَوْءَٰتُهُمَا وَطَفِقَا يَخْصِفَٰنِ عَلَيْهِمَا مِنْ وَّرَقِ اِ۬لْجَنَّةِۖ وَنَاد۪يٰهُمَا رَبُّهُمَآ أَلَمَ اَنْهَكُمَا عَن تِلْكُمَا اَ۬لشَّجَرَةِ وَأَقُل لَّكُمَآ إِنَّ اَ۬لشَّيْطَٰنَ لَكُمَا عَدُوّٞ مُّبِينٞۖ ﰔ

Fadallêhumâ bighurûrin falammâ dhâqâ shshajarata badat lahumâ saw'âtuhumâ watafiqâ yakhsifâni ‘alayhimâ miw waraqi ljannati wanâdêhumâ rabbuhumâ alama nhakumâ ‘an tilkumâ shshajarati wa'aqul lakumâ inna shshaytâna lakumâ ‘aduwwum mubîn

Alors il les fit tomber par tromperie. Puis, lorsqu'ils eurent goûté de l'arbre, leurs nudités leur devinrent visibles; et ils commencèrent tous deux à y attacher des feuilles du Paradis. Et leur Seigneur les appela: «Ne vous avais-Je pas interdit cet arbre? Et ne vous avais-Je pas dit que le Diable était pour vous un ennemi déclaré?»

So he made them fall, through deception. And when they tasted of the tree, their private parts became apparent to them, and they began to fasten together over themselves from the leaves of Paradise. And their Lord called to them, "Did I not forbid you from that tree and tell you that Satan is to you a clear enemy

قَالَا رَبَّنَا ظَلَمْنَآ أَنفُسَنَا وَإِن لَّمْ تَغْفِرْ لَنَا وَتَرْحَمْنَا لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ اَ۬لْخَٰسِرِينَۖ ﰕ

Qâlâ rabbanâ zalamnâ anfusanâ wa'il lam taghfir lanâ watarhamnâ lanakûnanna mina lkhâsirîn

Tous deux dirent: «O notre Seigneur, nous avons fait du tort à nous-mêmes. Et si Tu ne nous pardonnes pas et ne nous fais pas miséricorde, nous serons très certainement du nombre des perdants»

They said, "Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves, and if You do not forgive us and have mercy upon us, we will surely be among the losers

قَالَ اَ۪هْبِطُواْۖ بَعْضُكُمْ لِبَعْضٍ عَدُوّٞۖ وَلَكُمْ فِے اِ۬لَارْضِ مُسْتَقَرّٞ وَمَتَٰعٌ اِلَىٰ حِينٖۖ ﰖ

Qâla hbitû ba‘dukum liba‘din ‘aduwwun walakum fî lardi mustaqarrun wamatâ‘uni lâ hîn

«Descendez, dit [Allah], vous serez ennemis les uns des autres. Et il y aura pour vous sur terre séjour et jouissance, pour un temps.»

[Allah] said, "Descend, being to one another enemies. And for you on the earth is a place of settlement and enjoyment for a time

قَالَ فِيهَا تَحْيَوْنَ وَفِيهَا تَمُوتُونَ وَمِنْهَا تُخْرَجُونَۖ ﰗ

Qâla fîhâ tahyawna wafîhâ tamûtûna waminhâ tukhrajûn

«Là, dit (Allah), vous vivrez, là vous mourrez, et de là on vous fera sortir.»

He said, "Therein you will live, and therein you will die, and from it you will be brought forth

يَٰبَنِےٓ ءَادَمَ قَدَ اَنزَلْنَا عَلَيْكُمْ لِبَاساٗ يُوَٰرِے سَوْءَٰتِكُمْ وَرِيشاٗ وَلِبَاسَ اَ۬لتَّقْو۪ىٰۖ ذَٰلِكَ خَيْرٞۖ ذَٰلِكَ مِنَ اٰيَٰتِ اِ۬للَّهِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَذَّكَّرُونَۖ ﰘ

Yâbanî âdama qada nzalnâ ‘alaykum libâsan yuwârî saw'âtikum warîshan walibâsa ttaqwê dhâlika khayrun dhâlika mina âyâti llâhi la‘allahum yadhdhakkarûn

O enfants d'Adam! Nous avons fait descendre sur vous un vêtement pour cacher vos nudités, ainsi que des parures. - Mais le vêtement de la piété voilà qui est meilleur - C'est un des signes (de la puissance) d'Allah. Afin qu'ils se rappellent

O children of Adam, We have bestowed upon you clothing to conceal your private parts and as adornment. But the clothing of righteousness - that is best. That is from the signs of Allah that perhaps they will remember

يَٰبَنِےٓ ءَادَمَ لَا يَفْتِنَنَّكُمُ اُ۬لشَّيْطَٰنُ كَمَآ أَخْرَجَ أَبَوَيْكُم مِّنَ اَ۬لْجَنَّةِ يَنزِعُ عَنْهُمَا لِبَاسَهُمَا لِيُرِيَهُمَا سَوْءَٰتِهِمَآۖ إِنَّهُۥ يَر۪يٰكُمْ هُوَ وَقَبِيلُهُۥ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَا تَرَوْنَهُمُۥٓۖ إِنَّا جَعَلْنَا اَ۬لشَّيَٰطِينَ أَوْلِيَآءَ لِلذِينَ لَا يُومِنُونَۖ ﰙ

Yâbanî âdama lâ yaftinannakumu shshaytânu kamâ akhraja abawaykum mina ljannati yanzi‘u ‘anhumâ libâsahumâ liyuriyahumâ saw'âtihimâ innahû yarêkum huwa waqabîluhû min haythu lâ tarawnahumû innâ ja‘alnâ shshayâtîna awliyâ'a lilladhîna lâ yûminûn

O enfants d'Adam! Que le Diable ne vous tente point, comme il a fait sortir du Paradis vos père et mère, leur arrachant leur vêtement pour leur rendre visibles leurs nudités. Il vous voit, lui et ses suppôts, d'où vous ne les voyez pas. Nous avons désigné les diables pour alliés à ceux qui ne croient point

O children of Adam, let not Satan tempt you as he removed your parents from Paradise, stripping them of their clothing to show them their private parts. Indeed, he sees you, he and his tribe, from where you do not see them. Indeed, We have made the devils allies to those who do not believe

وَإِذَا فَعَلُواْ فَٰحِشَةٗ قَالُواْ وَجَدْنَا عَلَيْهَآ ءَابَآءَنَا وَاللَّهُ أَمَرَنَا بِهَاۖ قُلِ اِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ لَا يَامُرُ بِالْفَحْشَآءِۖ اَ۬تَقُولُونَ عَلَى اَ۬للَّهِ مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَۖ ﰚ

Wa'idhâ fa‘alû fâhishatan qâlû wajadnâ ‘alayhâ âbâ'anâ wallâhu amaranâ bihâ quli nna llâha lâ yâmuru bilfahshâ'i taqûlûna ‘alâ llâhi mâ lâ ta‘lamûn

et quand ceux-ci commettent une turpitude, ils disent: «C'est une coutume léguée par nos ancêtres et prescrite par Allah.» Dis: «[Non,] Allah ne commande point la turpitude. Direz-vous contre Allah ce que vous ne savez pas?»

And when they commit an immorality, they say, "We found our fathers doing it, and Allah has ordered us to do it." Say, "Indeed, Allah does not order immorality. Do you say about Allah that which you do not know

قُلَ اَمَرَ رَبِّے بِالْقِسْطِۖ وَأَقِيمُواْ وُجُوهَكُمْ عِندَ كُلِّ مَسْجِدٖۖ وَادْعُوهُ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ اُ۬لدِّينَۖ كَمَا بَدَأَكُمْ تَعُودُونَۖ فَرِيقاً هَد۪ىٰۖ وَفَرِيقاً حَقَّ عَلَيْهِمُ اُ۬لضَّلَٰلَةُۖ إِنَّهُمُ اُ۪تَّخَذُواْ اُ۬لشَّيَٰطِينَ أَوْلِيَآءَ مِن دُونِ اِ۬للَّهِ وَيَحْسِبُونَ أَنَّهُم مُّهْتَدُونَۖ ﰛ

Qula mara rabbî bilqisti wa'aqîmû wujûhakum ‘inda kulli masjidin wad‘ûhu mukhlisîna lahu ddîna kamâ bada'akum ta‘ûdûna farîqan hadê wafarîqan haqqa ‘alayhimu ddalâlatu innahumu ttakhadhû shshayâtîna awliyâ'a min dûni llâhi wayahsibûna annahum muhtadûn

Dis: «Mon Seigneur a commandé l'équité. Que votre prosternation soit exclusivement pour Lui. Et invoquez-Le, sincères dans votre culte. De même qu'Il vous a créés, vous retournerez à Lui» Il guide une partie, tandis qu'une autre partie a mérité l'égarement parce qu'ils ont pris, au lieu d'Allah, les diables pour alliés, et ils pensent qu'ils sont bien-guidés

Say, [O Muhammad], "My Lord has ordered justice and that you maintain yourselves [in worship of Him] at every place [or time] of prostration, and invoke Him, sincere to Him in religion." Just as He originated you, you will return [to life] A group [of you] He guided, and a group deserved [to be in] error. Indeed, they had taken the devils as allies instead of Allah while they thought that they were guided

يَٰبَنِےٓ ءَادَمَ خُذُواْ زِينَتَكُمْ عِندَ كُلِّ مَسْجِدٖ وَكُلُواْ وَاشْرَبُواْۖ وَلَا تُسْرِفُوٓاْۖ إِنَّهُۥ لَا يُحِبُّ اُ۬لْمُسْرِفِينَۖ ﰜ

Yâbanî âdama khudhû zînatakum ‘inda kulli masjidin wakulû washrabû walâ tusrifû innahû lâ yuhibbu lmusrifîn

O enfants d'Adam, dans chaque lieu de Salât portez votre parure (vos habits). Et mangez et buvez; et ne commettez pas d'excès, car Il [Allah] n'aime pas ceux qui commettent des excès

O children of Adam, take your adornment at every masjid, and eat and drink, but be not excessive. Indeed, He likes not those who commit excess

۞ قُلْ مَنْ حَرَّمَ زِينَةَ اَ۬للَّهِ اِ۬لتِےٓ أَخْرَجَ لِعِبَادِهِۦ وَالطَّيِّبَٰتِ مِنَ اَ۬لرِّزْقِۖ قُلْ هِيَ لِلذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ فِے اِ۬لْحَيَوٰةِ اِ۬لدُّنْي۪ا خَالِصَةٞ يَوْمَ اَ۬لْقِيَٰمَةِۖ كَذَٰلِكَ نُفَصِّلُ اُ۬لَايَٰتِ لِقَوْمٖ يَعْلَمُونَۖ ﰝ

Qul man harrama zînata llâhi llatî akhraja li‘ibâdihî wattayyibâti mina rrizqi qul hiya lilladhîna âmanû fî lhayawâti ddunyê khâlisatun yawma lqiyâmati kadhâlika nufassilu layâti liqawmin ya‘lamûn

Dis: «Qui a interdit la parure d'Allah, qu'Il a produite pour Ses serviteurs, ainsi que les bonnes nourritures?» Dis: «Elles sont destinées à ceux qui ont la foi, dans cette vie, et exclusivement à eux au Jour de la Résurrection.» Ainsi exposons-Nous clairement les versets pour les gens qui savent

Say, "Who has forbidden the adornment of Allah which He has produced for His servants and the good [lawful] things of provision?" Say, "They are for those who believe during the worldly life [but] exclusively for them on the Day of Resurrection." Thus do We detail the verses for a people who know

قُلِ اِنَّمَا حَرَّمَ رَبِّيَ اَ۬لْفَوَٰحِشَ مَا ظَهَرَ مِنْهَا وَمَا بَطَنَ وَالِاثْمَ وَالْبَغْيَ بِغَيْرِ اِ۬لْحَقِّ وَأَن تُشْرِكُواْ بِاللَّهِ مَا لَمْ يُنَزِّلْ بِهِۦ سُلْطَٰناٗ وَأَن تَقُولُواْ عَلَى اَ۬للَّهِ مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَۖ ﰞ

Quli nnamâ harrama rabbiya lfawâhisha mâ zahara minhâ wamâ batana walithma walbaghya bighayri lhaqqi wa'an tushrikû billâhi mâ lam yunazzil bihî sultânan wa'an taqûlû ‘alâ llâhi mâ lâ ta‘lamûn

Dis: «Mon Seigneur n'a interdit que les turpitudes (les grands péchés), tant apparentes que secrètes, de même que le péché, l'agression sans droit et d'associer à Allah ce dont Il n'a fait descendre aucune preuve, et de dire sur Allah ce que vous ne savez pas»

Say, "My Lord has only forbidden immoralities - what is apparent of them and what is concealed - and sin, and oppression without right, and that you associate with Allah that for which He has not sent down authority, and that you say about Allah that which you do not know

وَلِكُلِّ أُمَّةٍ اَجَلٞۖ فَإِذَا جَآءَ اجَلُهُمْ لَا يَسْتَٰخِرُونَ سَاعَةٗۖ وَلَا يَسْتَقْدِمُونَۖ ﰟ

Walikulli ummatina jalun fa'idhâ jâ'a âjaluhum lâ yastâkhirûna sâ‘atan walâ yastaqdimûn

Pour chaque communauté il y a un terme. Quand leur terme vient, ils ne peuvent le retarder d'une heure et ils ne peuvent le hâter non plus

And for every nation is a [specified] term. So when their time has come, they will not remain behind an hour, nor will they precede [it]

يَٰبَنِےٓ ءَادَمَ إِمَّا يَاتِيَنَّكُمْ رُسُلٞ مِّنكُمْ يَقُصُّونَ عَلَيْكُمُۥٓ ءَايَٰتِے فَمَنِ اِ۪تَّق۪ىٰ وَأَصْلَحَ فَلَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَۖ ﰠ

Yâbanî âdama immâ yâtiyannakum rusulum minkum yaqussûna ‘alaykumû âyâtî famani ttaqê wa'aslaha falâ khawfun ‘alayhim walâ hum yahzanûn

O enfants d'Adam! Si des messagers [choisis] parmi vous viennent pour vous exposer Mes signes, alors ceux qui acquièrent la piété et se réforment, n'auront aucune crainte et ne seront point affligés

O children of Adam, if there come to you messengers from among you relating to you My verses, then whoever fears Allah and reforms - there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve

وَالذِينَ كَذَّبُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا وَاسْتَكْبَرُواْ عَنْهَآ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ أَصْحَٰبُ اُ۬لنّ۪ارِ هُمْ فِيهَا خَٰلِدُونَۖ ﰡ

Walladhîna kadhdhabû bi'âyâtinâ wastakbarû ‘anhâ ulâ'ika ashâbu nnêri hum fîhâ khâlidûn

Et ceux qui traitent de mensonges Nos signes et s'en écartent avec orgueil, sont les gens du Feu et ils y demeureront éternellement

But the ones who deny Our verses and are arrogant toward them - those are the companions of the Fire; they will abide therein eternally

فَمَنَ اَظْلَمُ مِمَّنِ اِ۪فْتَر۪ىٰ عَلَى اَ۬للَّهِ كَذِباً اَوْ كَذَّبَ بِـَٔايَٰتِهِۦٓۖ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ يَنَالُهُمْ نَصِيبُهُم مِّنَ اَ۬لْكِتَٰبِۖ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا جَآءَتْهُمْ رُسُلُنَا يَتَوَفَّوْنَهُمْ قَالُوٓاْ أَيْنَ مَا كُنتُمْ تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ اِ۬للَّهِ قَالُواْ ضَلُّواْ عَنَّاۖ وَشَهِدُواْ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِهِمُۥٓ أَنَّهُمْ كَانُواْ كٰ۪فِرِينَۖ ﰢ

Famana zlamu mimmani ftarê ‘alâ llâhi kadhibana w kadhdhaba bi'âyâtihî ulâ'ika yanâluhum nasîbuhum mina lkitâbi hattâ idhâ jâ'athum rusulunâ yatawaffawnahum qâlû ayna mâ kuntum tad‘ûna min dûni llâhi qâlû dallû ‘annâ washahidû ‘alâ anfusihimû annahum kânû kêfirîn

Quel pire injuste, que celui qui invente un mensonge contre Allah, ou qui traite de mensonges Ses signes? Ceux là auront la part qui leur a été prescrite; jusqu'au moment où Nos Envoyés [Nos Anges] viennent à eux pour leur enlever l'âme, en leur disant: «Où sont ceux que vous invoquiez en dehors d'Allah?» - Ils répondront: «Nous ne les trouvons plus». Et ils témoigneront contre eux-mêmes qu'ils étaient mécréants

And who is more unjust than one who invents about Allah a lie or denies His verses? Those will attain their portion of the decree until when Our messengers come to them to take them in death, they will say, "Where are those you used to invoke besides Allah?" They will say, "They have departed from us," and will bear witness against themselves that they were disbelievers

قَالَ اَ۟دْخُلُواْ فِےٓ أُمَمٖ قَدْ خَلَتْ مِن قَبْلِكُم مِّنَ اَ۬لْجِنِّ وَالِانسِ فِے اِ۬لنّ۪ارِۖ كُلَّمَا دَخَلَتُ ا۟مَّةٞ لَّعَنَتُ ا۟خْتَهَاۖ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا اَ۪دَّارَكُواْ فِيهَا جَمِيعاٗ قَالَتُ ا۟خْر۪يٰهُمْ لِأُول۪يٰهُمْ رَبَّنَا هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ اَ۬ضَلُّونَا فَـَٔاتِهِمْ عَذَاباٗ ضِعْفاٗ مِّنَ اَ۬لنّ۪ارِۖ ﰣ

Qâla dkhulû fî umamin qad khalat min qablikum mina ljinni walinsi fî nnêri kullamâ dakhalatu ummatul la‘anatu ukhtahâ hattâ idhâ ddârakû fîhâ jamî‘an qâlatu ukhrêhum li'ûlêhum rabbanâ hâ'ulâ'i dallûnâ fa'âtihim ‘adhâban di‘fam mina nnêr

«Entrez dans le Feu», dira [Allah,] «parmi les djinns et les hommes des communautés qui vous ont précédés.» Chaque fois qu'une communauté entrera, elle maudira celle qui l'aura précédée. Puis, lorsque tous s'y retrouveront, la dernière fournée dira de la première: «O notre Seigneur! Voilà ceux qui nous ont égarés: donne-leur donc double châtiment du feu.» Il dira: «A chacun le double, mais vous ne savez pas»

[Allah] will say, "Enter among nations which had passed on before you of jinn and mankind into the Fire." Every time a nation enters, it will curse its sister until, when they have all overtaken one another therein, the last of them will say about the first of them "Our Lord, these had misled us, so give them a double punishment of the Fire. He will say, "For each is double, but you do not know

قَالَ لِكُلّٖ ضِعْفٞۖ وَلَٰكِن لَّا تَعْلَمُونَۖ ﰤ

Qâla likullin di‘fun walâkil lâ ta‘lamûn

۞ وَقَالَتُ ا۟ول۪يٰهُمْ لِأُخْر۪يٰهُمْ فَمَا كَانَ لَكُمْ عَلَيْنَا مِن فَضْلٖ فَذُوقُواْ اُ۬لْعَذَابَ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَكْسِبُونَۖ ﰥ

Waqâlatu ûlêhum li'ukhrêhum famâ kâna lakum ‘alaynâ min fadlin fadhûqû l‘adhâba bimâ kuntum taksibûn

Et la première fournée dira à la dernière: «Mais vous n'avez sur nous aucun avantage. Goûtez donc au châtiment, pour ce que vous avez acquis»

And the first of them will say to the last of them, "Then you had not any favor over us, so taste the punishment for what you used to earn

إِنَّ اَ۬لذِينَ كَذَّبُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا وَاسْتَكْبَرُواْ عَنْهَا لَا تُفَتَّحُ لَهُمُۥٓ أَبْوَٰبُ اُ۬لسَّمَآءِ وَلَا يَدْخُلُونَ اَ۬لْجَنَّةَ حَتَّىٰ يَلِجَ اَ۬لْجَمَلُ فِے سَمِّ اِ۬لْخِيَاطِۖ وَكَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِے اِ۬لْمُجْرِمِينَۖ ﰦ

Inna lladhîna kadhdhabû bi'âyâtinâ wastakbarû ‘anhâ lâ tufattahu lahumû abwâbu ssamâ'i walâ yadkhulûna ljannata hattâ yalija ljamalu fî sammi lkhiyâti wakadhâlika najzî lmujrimîn

Pour ceux qui traitent de mensonges Nos enseignements et qui s'en écartent par orgueil, les portes du ciel ne leur seront pas ouvertes, et ils n'entreront au Paradis que quand le chameau pénètre dans le chas de l'aiguille. Ainsi rétribuons-Nous les criminels

Indeed, those who deny Our verses and are arrogant toward them - the gates of Heaven will not be opened for them, nor will they enter Paradise until a camel enters into the eye of a needle. And thus do We recompense the criminals

لَهُم مِّن جَهَنَّمَ مِهَادٞۖ وَمِن فَوْقِهِمْ غَوَاشٖۖ وَكَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِے اِ۬لظَّٰلِمِينَۖ ﰧ

Lahum min jahannama mihâdun wamin fawqihim ghawâshin wakadhâlika najzî zzâlimîn

L'Enfer leur servira de lit et, comme couverture, ils auront des voiles de ténèbres. Ainsi rétribuons-Nous les injustes

They will have from Hell a bed and over them coverings [of fire]. And thus do We recompense the wrongdoers

وَالذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ اُ۬لصَّٰلِحَٰتِ لَا نُكَلِّفُ نَفْساً اِلَّا وُسْعَهَآۖ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ أَصْحَٰبُ اُ۬لْجَنَّةِ هُمْ فِيهَا خَٰلِدُونَۖ ﰨ

Walladhîna âmanû wa‘amilû ssâlihâti lâ nukallifu nafsani llâ wus‘ahâ ulâ'ika ashâbu ljannati hum fîhâ khâlidûn

Et ceux qui croient et font de bonnes œuvres - Nous n'imposons aucune charge à personne que selon sa capacité - ceux-là seront les gens du Paradis: ils y demeureront éternellement

But those who believed and did righteous deeds - We charge no soul except [within] its capacity. Those are the companions of Paradise; they will abide therein eternally

وَنَزَعْنَا مَا فِے صُدُورِهِم مِّنْ غِلّٖ تَجْرِے مِن تَحْتِهِمُ اُ۬لَانْهَٰرُۖ وَقَالُواْ اُ۬لْحَمْدُ لِلهِ اِ۬لذِے هَد۪يٰنَا لِهَٰذَاۖ وَمَا كُنَّا لِنَهْتَدِيَ لَوْلَآ أَنْ هَد۪يٰنَا اَ۬للَّهُۖ لَقَدْ جَآءَتْ رُسُلُ رَبِّنَا بِالْحَقِّۖ وَنُودُوٓاْ أَن تِلْكُمُ اُ۬لْجَنَّةُ أُورِثْتُمُوهَا بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَۖ ﰩ

Wanaza‘nâ mâ fî sudûrihim min ghillin tajrî min tahtihimu lanhâru waqâlû lhamdu lillâhi lladhî hadênâ lihâdhâ wamâ kunnâ linahtadiya lawlâ an hadênâ llâhu laqad jâ'at rusulu rabbinâ bilhaqqi wanûdû an tilkumu ljannatu ûrithtumûhâ bimâ kuntum ta‘malûn

Et Nous enlèverons toute la rancune de leurs poitrines, sous eux couleront les ruisseaux, et ils diront: «Louange à Allah qui nous a guidés à ceci. Nous n'aurions pas été guidés, si Allah ne nous avait pas guidés. Les messagers de notre Seigneur sont venus avec la vérité.» Et on leur proclamera: «Voilà le Paradis qui vous a été donné en héritage pour ce que vous faisiez»

And We will have removed whatever is within their breasts of resentment, [while] flowing beneath them are rivers. And they will say, "Praise to Allah, who has guided us to this; and we would never have been guided if Allah had not guided us. Certainly the messengers of our Lord had come with the truth." And they will be called, "This is Paradise, which you have been made to inherit for what you used to do

وَنَاد۪ىٰٓ أَصْحَٰبُ اُ۬لْجَنَّةِ أَصْحَٰبَ اَ۬لنّ۪ارِ أَن قَدْ وَجَدْنَا مَا وَعَدَنَا رَبُّنَا حَقّاٗ فَهَلْ وَجَدتُّم مَّا وَعَدَ رَبُّكُمْ حَقّاٗۖ قَالُواْ نَعَمْۖ فَأَذَّنَ مُوَ۬ذِّنُۢ بَيْنَهُمُۥٓ أَن لَّعْنَةُ اُ۬للَّهِ عَلَى اَ۬لظَّٰلِمِينَ ﰪ

Wanâdê ashâbu ljannati ashâba nnêri an qad wajadnâ mâ wa‘adanâ rabbunâ haqqan fahal wajadttum mâ wa‘ada rabbukum haqqan qâlû na‘am fa'adhdhana muwadhdhinu baynahumû al la‘natu llâhi ‘alâ zzâlimîn

Les gens du Paradis crieront aux gens du Feu: «Certes, nous avons trouvé vrai ce que notre Seigneur nous avait promis. Avez-vous aussi trouvé vrai ce que votre Seigneur avait promis?» «Oui», diront-ils. Un héraut annoncera alors au milieu d'eux: Que la malédiction d'Allah soit sur les injustes

And the companions of Paradise will call out to the companions of the Fire, "We have already found what our Lord promised us to be true. Have you found what your Lord promised to be true?" They will say, "Yes." Then an announcer will announce among them, "The curse of Allah shall be upon the wrongdoers

اَ۬لذِينَ يَصُدُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ اِ۬للَّهِ وَيَبْغُونَهَا عِوَجاٗ وَهُم بِالَاخِرَةِ كَٰفِرُونَۖ ﰫ

Alladhîna yasuddûna ‘an sabîli llâhi wayabghûnahâ ‘iwajan wahum bilakhirati kâfirûn

qui obstruaient le sentier d'Allah, qui voulaient le rendre tortueux, et qui ne croyaient pas à l'au-delà.»

Who averted [people] from the way of Allah and sought to make it [seem] deviant while they were, concerning the Hereafter, disbelievers

وَبَيْنَهُمَا حِجَابٞۖ وَعَلَى اَ۬لَاعْرَافِ رِجَالٞ يَعْرِفُونَ كُلّاَۢ بِسِيم۪يٰهُمْۖ وَنَادَوَاْ اَصْحَٰبَ اَ۬لْجَنَّةِ أَن سَلَٰمٌ عَلَيْكُمْۖ لَمْ يَدْخُلُوهَا وَهُمْ يَطْمَعُونَۖ ﰬ

Wabaynahumâ hijâbun wa‘alâ la‘râfi rijâlun ya‘rifûna kullam bisîmêhum wanâdawa shâba ljannati an salâmun ‘alaykum lam yadkhulûhâ wahum yatma‘ûn

Et entre les deux, il y aura un mur, et, sur al-A'râf seront des gens qui reconnaîtront tout le monde par leurs traits caractéristiques. Et ils crieront aux gens du Paradis: «Paix sur vous!» Ils n'y sont pas entrés bien qu'ils le souhaitent

And between them will be a partition, and on [its] elevations are men who recognize all by their mark. And they call out to the companions of Paradise, "Peace be upon you." They have not [yet] entered it, but they long intensely

۞ وَإِذَا صُرِفَتَ اَبْصَٰرُهُمْ تِلْقَآءَ اصْحَٰبِ اِ۬لنّ۪ارِ قَالُواْ رَبَّنَا لَا تَجْعَلْنَا مَعَ اَ۬لْقَوْمِ اِ۬لظَّٰلِمِينَۖ ﰭ

Wa'idhâ surifata bsâruhum tilqâ'a âshâbi nnêri qâlû rabbanâ lâ taj‘alnâ ma‘a lqawmi zzâlimîn

Et quand leurs regards seront tournés vers les gens du Feu, ils diront; «O notre Seigneur! Ne nous mets pas avec le peuple injuste»

And when their eyes are turned toward the companions of the Fire, they say, "Our Lord, do not place us with the wrongdoing people

وَنَاد۪ىٰٓ أَصْحَٰبُ اُ۬لَاعْرَافِ رِجَالاٗ يَعْرِفُونَهُم بِسِيم۪يٰهُمْ قَالُواْ مَآ أَغْن۪ىٰ عَنكُمْ جَمْعُكُمْ وَمَا كُنتُمْ تَسْتَكْبِرُونَۖ ﰮ

Wanâdê ashâbu la‘râfi rijâlan ya‘rifûnahum bisîmêhum qâlû mâ aghnê ‘ankum jam‘ukum wamâ kuntum tastakbirûn

Et les gens d'al-A'râf, appelant certains hommes qu'ils reconnaîtront par leurs traits caractéristiques, diront: «Vous n'avez tiré aucun profit de tout ce que vous aviez amassé et de l'orgueil dont vous étiez enflés

And the companions of the Elevations will call to men [within Hell] whom they recognize by their mark, saying, "Of no avail to you was your gathering and [the fact] that you were arrogant

أَهَٰٓؤُلَآءِ اِ۬لذِينَ أَقْسَمْتُمْ لَا يَنَالُهُمُ اُ۬للَّهُ بِرَحْمَةٍۖ اُ۟دْخُلُواْ اُ۬لْجَنَّةَ لَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْكُمْ وَلَآ أَنتُمْ تَحْزَنُونَۖ ﰯ

Ahâ'ulâ'i lladhîna aqsamtum lâ yanâluhumu llâhu birahmatini dkhulû ljannata lâ khawfun ‘alaykum walâ antum tahzanûn

Est-ce donc ceux-là au sujet desquels vous juriez qu'ils n'obtiendront de la part d'Allah aucune miséricorde...? - Entrez au Paradis! Vous serez à l'abri de toute crainte et vous ne serez point affligés

[Allah will say], "Are these the ones whom you [inhabitants of Hell] swore that Allah would never offer them mercy? Enter Paradise, [O People of the Elevations]. No fear will there be concerning you, nor will you grieve

وَنَاد۪ىٰٓ أَصْحَٰبُ اُ۬لنّ۪ارِ أَصْحَٰبَ اَ۬لْجَنَّةِ أَنَ اَفِيضُواْ عَلَيْنَا مِنَ اَ۬لْمَآءِ اَ۬وْ مِمَّا رَزَقَكُمُ اُ۬للَّهُۖ قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ حَرَّمَهُمَا عَلَى اَ۬لْكٰ۪فِرِينَ ﰰ

Wanâdê ashâbu nnêri ashâba ljannati ana fîdû ‘alaynâ mina lmâ'i w mimmâ razaqakumu llâhu qâlû inna llâha harramahumâ ‘alâ lkêfirîn

Et les gens du Feu crieront aux gens du Paradis: «Déversez sur nous de l'eau, ou de ce qu'Allah vous a attribué.» «Ils répondront: Allah les a interdits aux mécréants»

And the companions of the Fire will call to the companions of Paradise, "Pour upon us some water or from whatever Allah has provided you." They will say, "Indeed, Allah has forbidden them both to the disbelievers

اَ۬لذِينَ اَ۪تَّخَذُواْ دِينَهُمْ لَهْواٗ وَلَعِباٗ وَغَرَّتْهُمُ اُ۬لْحَيَوٰةُ اُ۬لدُّنْي۪اۖ فَالْيَوْمَ نَنس۪يٰهُمْ كَمَا نَسُواْ لِقَآءَ يَوْمِهِمْ هَٰذَا وَمَا كَانُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا يَجْحَدُونَۖ ﰱ

Alladhîna ttakhadhû dînahum lahwan wala‘iban wagharrathumu lhayawâtu ddunyê falyawma nansêhum kamâ nasû liqâ'a yawmihim hâdhâ wamâ kânû bi'âyâtinâ yajhadûn

Ceux-ci prenaient leur religion comme distraction et jeu, et la vie d'ici-bas les trompait. Aujourd'hui, Nous les oublierons comme ils ont oublié la rencontre de leur jour que voici, et parce qu'ils reniaient Nos enseignements

Who took their religion as distraction and amusement and whom the worldly life deluded." So today We will forget them just as they forgot the meeting of this Day of theirs and for having rejected Our verses

وَلَقَدْ جِئْنَٰهُم بِكِتَٰبٖ فَصَّلْنَٰهُ عَلَىٰ عِلْمٍ هُدىٗ وَرَحْمَةٗ لِّقَوْمٖ يُومِنُونَۖ ﰲ

Walaqad jî'nâhum bikitâbin fassalnâhu ‘alâ ‘ilmin hudan warahmatal liqawmin yûminûn

Nous leur avons, certes, apporté un Livre que Nous avons détaillé, en toute connaissance, à titre de guide et de miséricorde pour les gens qui croient

And We had certainly brought them a Book which We detailed by knowledge - as guidance and mercy to a people who believe

هَلْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَّا تَاوِيلَهُۥۖ يَوْمَ يَاتِے تَاوِيلُهُۥ يَقُولُ اُ۬لذِينَ نَسُوهُ مِن قَبْلُ قَدْ جَآءَتْ رُسُلُ رَبِّنَا بِالْحَقِّ فَهَل لَّنَا مِن شُفَعَآءَ فَيَشْفَعُواْ لَنَآ أَوْ نُرَدُّ فَنَعْمَلَ غَيْرَ اَ۬لذِے كُنَّا نَعْمَلُۖ قَدْ خَسِرُوٓاْ أَنفُسَهُمْ وَضَلَّ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُواْ يَفْتَرُونَۖ ﰳ

Hal yanzurûna illâ tâwîlahû yawma yâtî tâwîluhû yaqûlu lladhîna nasûhu min qablu qad jâ'at rusulu rabbinâ bilhaqqi fahal lanâ min shufa‘â'a fayashfa‘û lanâ aw nuraddu fana‘mala ghayra lladhî kunnâ na‘malu qad khasirû anfusahum wadalla ‘anhum mâ kânû yaftarûn

Attendent-ils uniquement la réalisation (de Sa menace et de Ses promesses?). Le jour où sa (véritable) réalisation viendra, ceux qui auparavant l'oubliaient diront: «Les messagers de notre Seigneur sont venus avec la vérité. Y a-t-il pour nous des intercesseurs qui puissent intercéder en notre faveur? Ou pourrons-nous être renvoyés [sur terre], afin que nous œuvrions autrement que ce que nous faisions auparavant?» Ils ont certes créé leur propre perte; et ce qu'ils inventaient les a délaissés

Do they await except its result? The Day its result comes those who had ignored it before will say, "The messengers of our Lord had come with the truth, so are there [now] any intercessors to intercede for us or could we be sent back to do other than we used to do?" They will have lost themselves, and lost from them is what they used to invent

إِنَّ رَبَّكُمُ اُ۬للَّهُ اُ۬لذِے خَلَقَ اَ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالَارْضَ فِے سِتَّةِ أَيَّامٖ ثُمَّ اَ۪سْتَو۪ىٰ عَلَى اَ۬لْعَرْشِۖ يُغْشِے اِ۬ليْلَ اَ۬لنَّهَارَ يَطْلُبُهُۥ حَثِيثاٗ وَالشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ وَالنُّجُومَ مُسَخَّرَٰتِۢ بِأَمْرِهِۦٓۖ أَلَا لَهُ اُ۬لْخَلْقُ وَالَامْرُۖ تَبَٰرَكَ اَ۬للَّهُ رَبُّ اُ۬لْعَٰلَمِينَۖ ﰴ

Inna rabbakumu llâhu lladhî khalaqa ssamâwâti walarda fî sittati ayyâmin thumma stawê ‘alâ l‘arshi yughshî llayla nnahâra yatlubuhû hathîthan washshamsa walqamara wannujûma musakhkharâtim bi'amrihî alâ lahu lkhalqu walamru tabâraka llâhu rabbu l‘âlamîn

Votre Seigneur, c'est Allah, qui a créé les cieux et la terre en six jours, puis S'est établi «'istawâ» sur le Trône. Il couvre le jour de la nuit qui poursuit celui-ci sans arrêt. (Il a créé) le soleil, la lune et les étoiles, soumis à Son commandement. La création et le commandement n'appartiennent qu'à Lui. Toute gloire à Allah, Seigneur de l'Univers

Indeed, your Lord is Allah, who created the heavens and earth in six days and then established Himself above the Throne. He covers the night with the day, [another night] chasing it rapidly; and [He created] the sun, the moon, and the stars, subjected by His command. Unquestionably, His is the creation and the command; blessed is Allah, Lord of the worlds

اَ۟دْعُواْ رَبَّكُمْ تَضَرُّعاٗ وَخُفْيَةًۖ اِنَّهُۥ لَا يُحِبُّ اُ۬لْمُعْتَدِينَۖ ﰵ

Ud‘û rabbakum tadarru‘an wakhufyatani nnahû lâ yuhibbu lmu‘tadîn

Invoquez votre Seigneur en toute humilité et recueillement et avec discrétion. Certes, Il n'aime pas les transgresseurs

Call upon your Lord in humility and privately; indeed, He does not like transgressors

وَلَا تُفْسِدُواْ فِے اِ۬لَارْضِ بَعْدَ إِصْلَٰحِهَاۖ وَادْعُوهُ خَوْفاٗ وَطَمَعاًۖ اِنَّ رَحْمَتَ اَ۬للَّهِ قَرِيبٞ مِّنَ اَ۬لْمُحْسِنِينَۖ ﰶ

Walâ tufsidû fî lardi ba‘da islâhihâ wad‘ûhu khawfan watama‘ani nna rahmata llâhi qarîbum mina lmuhsinîn

Et ne semez pas la corruption sur la terre après qu'elle ait été réformée. Et invoquez-Le avec crainte et espoir, car la miséricorde d'Allah est proche des bienfaisants

And cause not corruption upon the earth after its reformation. And invoke Him in fear and aspiration. Indeed, the mercy of Allah is near to the doers of good

۞ وَهُوَ اَ۬لذِے يُرْسِلُ اُ۬لرِّيَٰحَ نُشُراَۢ بَيْنَ يَدَےْ رَحْمَتِهِۦۖ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَآ أَقَلَّتْ سَحَاباٗ ثِقَالاٗ سُقْنَٰهُ لِبَلَدٖ مَّيِّتٖ فَأَنزَلْنَا بِهِ اِ۬لْمَآءَ فَأَخْرَجْنَا بِهِۦ مِن كُلِّ اِ۬لثَّمَرَٰتِۖ كَذَٰلِكَ نُخْرِجُ اُ۬لْمَوْت۪ىٰ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَذَّكَّرُونَۖ ﰷ

Wahuwa lladhî yursilu rriyâha nushuram bayna yaday rahmatihî hattâ idhâ aqallat sahâban thiqâlan suqnâhu libaladim mayyitin fa'anzalnâ bihi lmâ'a fa'akhrajnâ bihî min kulli ththamarâti kadhâlika nukhriju lmawtê la‘allakum tadhdhakkarûn

C'est Lui qui envoie les vents comme une annonce de Sa Miséricorde. Puis, lorsqu'ils transportent une nuée lourde, Nous la dirigeons vers un pays mort [de sécheresse], puis Nous en faisons descendre l'eau, ensuite Nous en faisons sortir toutes espèces de fruits. Ainsi ferons-Nous sortir les morts. Peut-être vous rappellerez-vous

And it is He who sends the winds as good tidings before His mercy until, when they have carried heavy rainclouds, We drive them to a dead land and We send down rain therein and bring forth thereby [some] of all the fruits. Thus will We bring forth the dead; perhaps you may be reminded

وَالْبَلَدُ اُ۬لطَّيِّبُ يَخْرُجُ نَبَاتُهُۥ بِإِذْنِ رَبِّهِۦۖ وَالذِے خَبُثَ لَا يَخْرُجُ إِلَّا نَكِداٗۖ كَذَٰلِكَ نُصَرِّفُ اُ۬لَايَٰتِ لِقَوْمٖ يَشْكُرُونَۖ ﰸ

Walbaladu ttayyibu yakhruju nabâtuhû bi'idhni rabbihî walladhî khabutha lâ yakhruju illâ nakidan kadhâlika nusarrifu layâti liqawmin yashkurûn

Le bon pays, sa végétation pousse avec la grâce de son Seigneur; quant au mauvais pays, (sa végétation) ne sort qu'insuffisamment et difficilement. Ainsi déployons-Nous les enseignements pour des gens reconnaissants

And the good land - its vegetation emerges by permission of its Lord; but that which is bad - nothing emerges except sparsely, with difficulty. Thus do We diversify the signs for a people who are grateful

لَقَدَ اَرْسَلْنَا نُوحاً اِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِۦ فَقَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ اِ۟عْبُدُواْ اُ۬للَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنِ اِلَٰهٍ غَيْرُهُۥٓۖ إِنِّيَ أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ عَظِيمٖۖ ﰹ

Laqada rsalnâ nûhani lâ qawmihî faqâla yâqawmi ‘budû llâha mâ lakum mini lâhin ghayruhû inniya akhâfu ‘alaykum ‘adhâba yawmin ‘azîm

Nous avons envoyé Noé vers son peuple. Il dit: «O mon peuple, adorez Allah. Pour vous, pas d'autre divinité que Lui. Je crains pour vous le châtiment d'un jour terrible»

We had certainly sent Noah to his people, and he said, "O my people, worship Allah; you have no deity other than Him. Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a tremendous Day

قَالَ اَ۬لْمَلَأُ مِن قَوْمِهِۦٓ إِنَّا لَنَر۪يٰكَ فِے ضَلَٰلٖ مُّبِينٖۖ ﰺ

Qâla lmala'u min qawmihî innâ lanarêka fî dalâlim mubîn

Les notables de son peuple dirent: «Nous te voyons dans un égarement manifeste»

Said the eminent among his people, "Indeed, we see you in clear error

قَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ لَيْسَ بِے ضَلَٰلَةٞ وَلَٰكِنِّے رَسُولٞ مِّن رَّبِّ اِ۬لْعَٰلَمِينَۖ ﰻ

Qâla yâqawmi laysa bî dalâlatun walâkinnî rasûlum mir rabbi l‘âlamîn

Il dit: «O mon peuple, il n'y a pas d'égarement en moi; mais je suis un Messager de la part du Seigneur de l'Univers

[Noah] said, "O my people, there is not error in me, but I am a messenger from the Lord of the worlds

أُبَلِّغُكُمْ رِسَٰلَٰتِ رَبِّے وَأَنصَحُ لَكُمْ وَأَعْلَمُ مِنَ اَ۬للَّهِ مَا لَا تَعْلَمُونَۖ ﰼ

Uballighukum risâlâti rabbî wa'ansahu lakum wa'a‘lamu mina llâhi mâ lâ ta‘lamûn

Je vous communique les messages de mon Seigneur, et je vous donne conseil sincère, et je sais d'Allah ce que vous ne savez pas

I convey to you the messages of my Lord and advise you; and I know from Allah what you do not know

أَوَعَجِبْتُمُۥٓ أَن جَآءَكُمْ ذِكْرٞ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ عَلَىٰ رَجُلٖ مِّنكُمْ لِيُنذِرَكُمْ وَلِتَتَّقُواْ وَلَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَۖ ﰽ

Awa‘ajibtumû an jâ'akum dhikrum mir rabbikum ‘alâ rajulim minkum liyundhirakum walitattaqû wala‘allakum turhamûn

Est-ce que vous vous étonnez qu'un rappel vous vienne de votre Seigneur à travers un homme issu de vous, pour qu'il vous avertisse et que vous deveniez pieux et que la miséricorde vous soit accordée?»

Then do you wonder that there has come to you a reminder from your Lord through a man from among you, that he may warn you and that you may fear Allah so you might receive mercy

فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَأَنجَيْنَٰهُ وَالذِينَ مَعَهُۥ فِے اِ۬لْفُلْكِۖ وَأَغْرَقْنَا اَ۬لذِينَ كَذَّبُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَآۖ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُواْ قَوْماً عَمِينَۖ ﰾ

Fakadhdhabûhu fa'anjaynâhu walladhîna ma‘ahû fî lfulki wa'aghraqnâ lladhîna kadhdhabû bi'âyâtinâ innahum kânû qawman ‘amîn

Et ils le traitèrent de menteur. Or, Nous le sauvâmes, lui et ceux qui étaient avec lui dans l'arche, et noyâmes ceux qui traitaient de mensonges Nos miracles. C'étaient des gens aveugles, vraiment

But they denied him, so We saved him and those who were with him in the ship. And We drowned those who denied Our signs. Indeed, they were a blind people

وَإِلَىٰ عَادٍ اَخَاهُمْ هُوداٗۖ قَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ اِ۟عْبُدُواْ اُ۬للَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنِ اِلَٰهٍ غَيْرُهُۥٓۖ أَفَلَا تَتَّقُونَۖ ﰿ

Wa'ilâ ‘âdina khâhum hûdan qâla yâqawmi ‘budû llâha mâ lakum mini lâhin ghayruhû afalâ tattaqûn

Et aux 'Aad, leur frère Hûd: «O mon peuple, dit-il, adorez Allah. Pour vous, pas d'autre divinité que Lui. Ne [Le] craignez-vous donc pas?»

And to the 'Aad [We sent] their brother Hud. He said, "O my people, worship Allah; you have no deity other than Him. Then will you not fear Him

قَالَ اَ۬لْمَلَأُ اُ۬لذِينَ كَفَرُواْ مِن قَوْمِهِۦٓ إِنَّا لَنَر۪يٰكَ فِے سَفَاهَةٖ وَإِنَّا لَنَظُنُّكَ مِنَ اَ۬لْكَٰذِبِينَۖ ﱀ

Qâla lmala'u lladhîna kafarû min qawmihî innâ lanarêka fî safâhatin wa'innâ lanazunnuka mina lkâdhibîn

Les notables de son peuple qui ne croyaient pas dirent: «Certes, nous te voyons en pleine sottise, et nous pensons que tu es du nombre des menteurs»

Said the eminent ones who disbelieved among his people, "Indeed, we see you in foolishness, and indeed, we think you are of the liars

قَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ لَيْسَ بِے سَفَاهَةٞ وَلَٰكِنِّے رَسُولٞ مِّن رَّبِّ اِ۬لْعَٰلَمِينَۖ ﱁ

Qâla yâqawmi laysa bî safâhatun walâkinnî rasûlum mir rabbi l‘âlamîn

Il dit: «O mon peuple, il n'y a point de sottise en moi; mais je suis un Messager de la part du Seigneur de l'Univers

[Hud] said, "O my people, there is not foolishness in me, but I am a messenger from the Lord of the worlds

أُبَلِّغُكُمْ رِسَٰلَٰتِ رَبِّے وَأَنَا لَكُمْ نَاصِحٌ اَمِينٌۖ ﱂ

Uballighukum risâlâti rabbî wa'anâ lakum nâsihuna mîn

Je vous communique les messages de mon Seigneur, et je suis pour vous un conseiller digne de confiance

I convey to you the messages of my Lord, and I am to you a trustworthy adviser

۞ اَوَعَجِبْتُمُۥٓ أَن جَآءَكُمْ ذِكْرٞ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ عَلَىٰ رَجُلٖ مِّنكُمْ لِيُنذِرَكُمْۖ وَاذْكُرُوٓاْ إِذْ جَعَلَكُمْ خُلَفَآءَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ قَوْمِ نُوحٖ وَزَادَكُمْ فِے اِ۬لْخَلْقِ بَصْطَةٗۖ فَاذْكُرُوٓاْ ءَالَآءَ اَ۬للَّهِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُفْلِحُونَۖ ﱃ

Awa‘ajibtumû an jâ'akum dhikrum mir rabbikum ‘alâ rajulim minkum liyundhirakum wadhkurû idh ja‘alakum khulafâ'a mim ba‘di qawmi nûhin wazâdakum fî lkhalqi bastatan fadhkurû âlâ'a llâhi la‘allakum tuflihûn

Quoi! Vous vous étonnez qu'un rappel vous vienne de votre Seigneur à travers un homme issu de vous, pour qu'il vous avertisse? Et rappelez-vous quand Il vous a fait succéder au peuple de Noé, et qu'Il accrut votre corps en hauteur (et puissance). Eh bien, rappelez-vous les bienfaits d'Allah afin que vous réussissiez

Then do you wonder that there has come to you a reminder from your Lord through a man from among you, that he may warn you? And remember when He made you successors after the people of Noah and increased you in stature extensively. So remember the favors of Allah that you might succeed

قَالُوٓاْ أَجِئْتَنَا لِنَعْبُدَ اَ۬للَّهَ وَحْدَهُۥ وَنَذَرَ مَا كَانَ يَعْبُدُ ءَابَآؤُنَا فَاتِنَا بِمَا تَعِدُنَآ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ اَ۬لصَّٰدِقِينَۖ ﱄ

Qâlû ajî'tanâ lina‘buda llâha wahdahû wanadhara mâ kâna ya‘budu âbâ'unâ fâtinâ bimâ ta‘idunâ in kunta mina ssâdiqîn

Ils dirent: «Es-tu venu à nous pour que nous adorions Allah seul, et que nous délaissions ce que nos ancêtres adoraient? Fais donc venir ce dont tu nous menaces, si tu es du nombre des véridiques»

They said, "Have you come to us that we should worship Allah alone and leave what our fathers have worshipped? Then bring us what you promise us, if you should be of the truthful

قَالَ قَدْ وَقَعَ عَلَيْكُم مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ رِجْسٞ وَغَضَبٌۖ اَتُجَٰدِلُونَنِے فِےٓ أَسْمَآءٖ سَمَّيْتُمُوهَآ أَنتُمْ وَءَابَآؤُكُم مَّا نَزَّلَ اَ۬للَّهُ بِهَا مِن سُلْطَٰنٖۖ فَانتَظِرُوٓاْۖ إِنِّے مَعَكُم مِّنَ اَ۬لْمُنتَظِرِينَۖ ﱅ

Qâla qad waqa‘a ‘alaykum mir rabbikum rijsun waghadabuna tujâdilûnanî fî asmâ'in sammaytumûhâ antum wa'âbâ'ukum mâ nazzala llâhu bihâ min sultânin fântazirû innî ma‘akum mina lmuntazirîn

Il dit: «Vous voilà, frappés de la part de votre Seigneur d'un supplice et d'une colère. Allez vous vous disputer avec moi au sujet de noms que vous et vos ancêtres avez donnés, sans qu'Allah n'y fasse descendre la moindre preuve? Attendez donc! Moi aussi j'attends avec vous

[Hud] said, "Already have defilement and anger fallen upon you from your Lord. Do you dispute with me concerning [mere] names you have named them, you and your fathers, for which Allah has not sent down any authority? Then wait; indeed, I am with you among those who wait

فَأَنجَيْنَٰهُ وَالذِينَ مَعَهُۥ بِرَحْمَةٖ مِّنَّا وَقَطَعْنَا دَابِرَ اَ۬لذِينَ كَذَّبُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا وَمَا كَانُواْ مُومِنِينَۖ ﱆ

Fa'anjaynâhu walladhîna ma‘ahû birahmatim minnâ waqata‘nâ dâbira lladhîna kadhdhabû bi'âyâtinâ wamâ kânû mûminîn

Or, Nous l'avons sauvé, (lui) et ceux qui étaient avec lui par miséricorde, de Notre part, et Nous avons exterminé ceux qui traitaient de mensonges Nos enseignements et qui n'étaient pas croyants

So We saved him and those with him by mercy from Us. And We eliminated those who denied Our signs, and they were not [at all] believers

وَإِلَىٰ ثَمُودَ أَخَاهُمْ صَٰلِحاٗۖ قَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ اِ۟عْبُدُواْ اُ۬للَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنِ اِلَٰهٍ غَيْرُهُۥۖ قَدْ جَآءَتْكُم بَيِّنَةٞ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْۖ هَٰذِهِۦ نَاقَةُ اُ۬للَّهِ لَكُمُۥٓ ءَايَةٗۖ فَذَرُوهَا تَاكُلْ فِےٓ أَرْضِ اِ۬للَّهِۖ وَلَا تَمَسُّوهَا بِسُوٓءٖ فَيَاخُذَكُمْ عَذَابٌ اَلِيمٞۖ ﱇ

Wa'ilâ thamûda akhâhum sâlihan qâla yâqawmi ‘budû llâha mâ lakum mini lâhin ghayruhû qad jâ'atkum bayyinatum mir rabbikum hâdhihî nâqatu llâhi lakumû âyatan fadharûhâ tâkul fî ardi llâhi walâ tamassûhâ bisû'in fayâkhudhakum ‘adhâbuna lîm

Et aux Thamûd, leur frère Sâlih: «O mon peuple, dit-il, adorez Allah. Pour vous, pas d'autre divinité que Lui. Certes, une preuve vous est venue de votre Seigneur: voici la chamelle d'Allah, un signe pour vous. Laissez-la donc manger sur la terre d'Allah et ne lui faites aucun mal; sinon un châtiment douloureux vous saisira

And to the Thamud [We sent] their brother Salih. He said, "O my people, worship Allah; you have no deity other than Him. There has come to you clear evidence from your Lord. This is the she-camel of Allah [sent] to you as a sign. So leave her to eat within Allah 's land and do not touch her with harm, lest there seize you a painful punishment

وَاذْكُرُوٓاْ إِذْ جَعَلَكُمْ خُلَفَآءَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ عَادٖ وَبَوَّأَكُمْ فِے اِ۬لَارْضِ تَتَّخِذُونَ مِن سُهُولِهَا قُصُوراٗ وَتَنْحِتُونَ اَ۬لْجِبَالَ بُيُوتاٗۖ فَاذْكُرُوٓاْ ءَالَآءَ اَ۬للَّهِۖ وَلَا تَعْثَوْاْ فِے اِ۬لَارْضِ مُفْسِدِينَۖ ﱈ

Wadhkurû idh ja‘alakum khulafâ'a mim ba‘di ‘âdin wabawwa'akum fî lardi tattakhidhûna min suhûlihâ qusûran watanhitûna ljibâla buyûtan fadhkurû âlâ'a llâhi walâ ta‘thaw fî lardi mufsidîn

Et rappelez-vous quand Il vous fit succéder aux Aad et vous installa sur la terre. Vous avez édifié des palais dans ses plaines, et taillé en maisons les montagnes. Rappelez-vous donc les bienfaits d'Allah et ne répandez pas la corruption sur la terre «comme des fauteurs de trouble»

And remember when He made you successors after the 'Aad and settled you in the land, [and] you take for yourselves palaces from its plains and carve from the mountains, homes. Then remember the favors of Allah and do not commit abuse on the earth, spreading corruption

قَالَ اَ۬لْمَلَأُ اُ۬لذِينَ اَ۪سْتَكْبَرُواْ مِن قَوْمِهِۦ لِلذِينَ اَ۟سْتُضْعِفُواْ لِمَنَ اٰمَنَ مِنْهُمُۥٓ أَتَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ صَٰلِحاٗ مُّرْسَلٞ مِّن رَّبِّهِۦۖ قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّا بِمَآ أُرْسِلَ بِهِۦ مُومِنُونَۖ ﱉ

Qâla lmala'u lladhîna stakbarû min qawmihî lilladhîna stud‘ifû limana âmana minhumû ata‘lamûna anna sâliham mursalum mir rabbihî qâlû innâ bimâ ursila bihî mûminûn

Les notables de son peuple qui s'enflaient d'orgueil dirent aux opprimés, à ceux d'entre eux qui avaient la foi: «Savez-vous si Sâlih est envoyé de la part de son Seigneur?» Ils dirent: «Oui, nous sommes croyants à son message»

Said the eminent ones who were arrogant among his people to those who were oppressed - to those who believed among them, "Do you [actually] know that Salih is sent from his Lord?" They said, "Indeed we, in that with which he was sent, are believers

قَالَ اَ۬لذِينَ اَ۪سْتَكْبَرُوٓاْ إِنَّا بِالذِےٓ ءَامَنتُم بِهِۦ كَٰفِرُونَۖ ﱊ

Qâla lladhîna stakbarû innâ billadhî âmantum bihî kâfirûn

Ceux qui s'enflaient d'orgueil dirent: «Nous, nous ne croyons certainement pas en ce que vous avez cru»

Said those who were arrogant, "Indeed we, in that which you have believed, are disbelievers

۞ فَعَقَرُواْ اُ۬لنَّاقَةَ وَعَتَوْاْ عَنَ اَمْرِ رَبِّهِمْۖ وَقَالُواْ يَٰصَٰلِحُ اُ۪يتِنَا بِمَا تَعِدُنَآ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ اَ۬لْمُرْسَلِينَۖ ﱋ

Fa‘aqarû nnâqata wa‘ataw ‘ana mri rabbihim waqâlû yâsâlihu ytinâ bimâ ta‘idunâ in kunta mina lmursalîn

Ils tuèrent la chamelle, désobéirent au commandement de leur Seigneur et dirent: «O Sâlih, fais nous venir ce dont tu nous menaces, si tu es du nombre des Envoyés»

So they hamstrung the she-camel and were insolent toward the command of their Lord and said, "O Salih, bring us what you promise us, if you should be of the messengers

فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ اُ۬لرَّجْفَةُ فَأَصْبَحُواْ فِے د۪ارِهِمْ جَٰثِمِينَۖ ﱌ

Fa'akhadhathumu rrajfatu fa'asbahû fî dêrihim jâthimîn

Le cataclysme les saisit; et les voilà étendus gisant dans leurs demeures

So the earthquake seized them, and they became within their home [corpses] fallen prone

فَتَوَلّ۪ىٰ عَنْهُمْ وَقَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ لَقَدَ اَبْلَغْتُكُمْ رِسَالَةَ رَبِّے وَنَصَحْتُ لَكُمْۖ وَلَٰكِن لَّا تُحِبُّونَ اَ۬لنَّٰصِحِينَۖ ﱍ

Fatawallê ‘anhum waqâla yâqawmi laqada blaghtukum risâlata rabbî wanasahtu lakum walâkil lâ tuhibbûna nnâsihîn

Alors il se détourna d'eux et dit: «O mon peuple, je vous avais communiqué le message de mon Seigneur et vous avais conseillé sincèrement. Mais vous n'aimez pas les conseillers sincères!»

And he turned away from them and said, "O my people, I had certainly conveyed to you the message of my Lord and advised you, but you do not like advisors

وَلُوطاً اِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِۦٓ أَتَاتُونَ اَ۬لْفَٰحِشَةَ مَا سَبَقَكُم بِهَا مِنَ اَحَدٖ مِّنَ اَ۬لْعَٰلَمِينَۖ ﱎ

Walûtani dh qâla liqawmihî atâtûna lfâhishata mâ sabaqakum bihâ mina hadim mina l‘âlamîn

Et Lot, quand il dit à son peuple: «Vous livrez vous à cette turpitude que nul, parmi les mondes, n'a commise avant vous

And [We had sent] Lot when he said to his people, "Do you commit such immorality as no one has preceded you with from among the worlds

إِنَّكُمْ لَتَاتُونَ اَ۬لرِّجَالَ شَهْوَةٗ مِّن دُونِ اِ۬لنِّسَآءِۖ بَلَ اَنتُمْ قَوْمٞ مُّسْرِفُونَۖ ﱏ

Innakum latâtûna rrijâla shahwatam min dûni nnisâ'i bala ntum qawmum musrifûn

Certes, vous assouvissez vos désirs charnels avec les hommes au lieu des femmes! Vous êtes bien un peuple outrancier.»

Indeed, you approach men with desire, instead of women. Rather, you are a transgressing people

وَمَا كَانَ جَوَابَ قَوْمِهِۦٓ إِلَّآ أَن قَالُوٓاْ أَخْرِجُوهُم مِّن قَرْيَتِكُمُۥٓۖ إِنَّهُمُۥٓ أُنَاسٞ يَتَطَهَّرُونَۖ ﱐ

Wamâ kâna jawâba qawmihî illâ an qâlû akhrijûhum min qaryatikumû innahumû unâsun yatatahharûn

Et pour toute réponse, son peuple ne fit que dire: «Expulsez-les de votre cité. Ce sont des gens qui veulent se garder purs!»

But the answer of his people was only that they said, "Evict them from your city! Indeed, they are men who keep themselves pure

فَأَنجَيْنَٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥٓ إِلَّا اَ۪مْرَأَتَهُۥ كَانَتْ مِنَ اَ۬لْغَٰبِرِينَۖ ﱑ

Fa'anjaynâhu wa'ahlahû illâ mra'atahû kânat mina lghâbirîn

Or, Nous l'avons sauvé, lui et sa famille, sauf sa femme qui fut parmi les exterminés

So We saved him and his family, except for his wife; she was of those who remained [with the evildoers]

وَأَمْطَرْنَا عَلَيْهِم مَّطَراٗۖ فَانظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ اُ۬لْمُجْرِمِينَۖ ﱒ

Wa'amtarnâ ‘alayhim mataran fânzur kayfa kâna ‘âqibatu lmujrimîn

Et Nous avons fait pleuvoir sur eux une pluie. Regarde donc ce que fut la fin des criminels

And We rained upon them a rain [of stones]. Then see how was the end of the criminals

وَإِلَىٰ مَدْيَنَ أَخَاهُمْ شُعَيْباٗۖ قَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ اِ۟عْبُدُواْ اُ۬للَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنِ اِلَٰهٍ غَيْرُهُۥۖ قَدْ جَآءَتْكُم بَيِّنَةٞ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْۖ فَأَوْفُواْ اُ۬لْكَيْلَ وَالْمِيزَانَۖ وَلَا تَبْخَسُواْ اُ۬لنَّاسَ أَشْيَآءَهُمْۖ وَلَا تُفْسِدُواْ فِے اِ۬لَارْضِ بَعْدَ إِصْلَٰحِهَاۖ ذَٰلِكُمْ خَيْرٞ لَّكُمُۥٓ إِن كُنتُم مُّومِنِينَۖ ﱓ

Wa'ilâ madyana akhâhum shu‘ayban qâla yâqawmi ‘budû llâha mâ lakum mini lâhin ghayruhû qad jâ'atkum bayyinatum mir rabbikum fa'awfû lkayla walmîzâna walâ tabkhasû nnâsa ashyâ'ahum walâ tufsidû fî lardi ba‘da islâhihâ dhâlikum khayrul lakumû in kuntum mûminîn

Et aux Madyan, leur frère Chu'aïb: «O mon peuple, dit-il, adorez Allah. Pour vous, pas d'autre divinité que Lui. Une preuve vous est venue de votre Seigneur. Donnez donc la pleine mesure et le poids et ne donnez pas aux gens moins que ce qui leur est dû. Et ne commettez pas de la corruption sur la terre après sa réforme. Ce sera mieux pour vous si vous êtes croyants

And to [the people of] Madyan [We sent] their brother Shu'ayb. He said, "O my people, worship Allah; you have no deity other than Him. There has come to you clear evidence from your Lord. So fulfill the measure and weight and do not deprive people of their due and cause not corruption upon the earth after its reformation. That is better for you, if you should be believers

وَلَا تَقْعُدُواْ بِكُلِّ صِرَٰطٖ تُوعِدُونَ وَتَصُدُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ اِ۬للَّهِ مَنَ اٰمَنَ بِهِۦ وَتَبْغُونَهَا عِوَجاٗۖ وَاذْكُرُوٓاْ إِذْ كُنتُمْ قَلِيلاٗ فَكَثَّرَكُمْۖ وَانظُرُواْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ اُ۬لْمُفْسِدِينَۖ ﱔ

Walâ taq‘udû bikulli sirâtin tû‘idûna watasuddûna ‘an sabîli llâhi mana âmana bihî watabghûnahâ ‘iwajan wadhkurû idh kuntum qalîlan fakaththarakum wânzurû kayfa kâna ‘âqibatu lmufsidîn

Et ne vous placez pas sur tout chemin, menaçant, empêchant du sentier d'Allah celui qui croit en Lui et cherchant à rendre ce sentier tortueux. Rappelez-vous quand vous étiez peu nombreux et qu'Il vous a multipliés en grand nombre. Et regardez ce qui est advenu aux fauteurs de désordre

And do not sit on every path, threatening and averting from the way of Allah those who believe in Him, seeking to make it [seem] deviant. And remember when you were few and He increased you. And see how was the end of the corrupters

وَإِن كَانَ طَآئِفَةٞ مِّنكُمُۥٓ ءَامَنُواْ بِالذِےٓ أُرْسِلْتُ بِهِۦ وَطَآئِفَةٞ لَّمْ يُومِنُواْ فَاصْبِرُواْ حَتَّىٰ يَحْكُمَ اَ۬للَّهُ بَيْنَنَاۖ وَهُوَ خَيْرُ اُ۬لْحَٰكِمِينَۖ ﱕ

Wa'in kâna tâ'ifatum minkumû âmanû billadhî ursiltu bihî watâ'ifatul lam yûminû fasbirû hattâ yahkuma llâhu baynanâ wahuwa khayru lhâkimîn

Si une partie d'entre vous a cru au message avec lequel j'ai été envoyé, et qu'une partie n'a pas cru, patientez donc jusqu'à ce qu'Allah juge parmi nous car Il est le Meilleur des juges.»

And if there should be a group among you who has believed in that with which I have been sent and a group that has not believed, then be patient until Allah judges between us. And He is the best of judges

۞ قَالَ اَ۬لْمَلَأُ اُ۬لذِينَ اَ۪سْتَكْبَرُواْ مِن قَوْمِهِۦ لَنُخْرِجَنَّكَ يَٰشُعَيْبُ وَالذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ مَعَكَ مِن قَرْيَتِنَآ أَوْ لَتَعُودُنَّ فِے مِلَّتِنَاۖ قَالَ أَوَلَوْ كُنَّا كَٰرِهِينَۖ ﱖ

Qâla lmala'u lladhîna stakbarû min qawmihî lanukhrijannaka yâshu‘aybu walladhîna âmanû ma‘aka min qaryatinâ aw lata‘ûdunna fî millatinâ qâla awalaw kunnâ kârihîn

Les notables de son peuple qui s'enflaient d'orgueil, dirent: «Nous t'expulserons certes de notre cité, ô Chu'aïb, toi et ceux qui ont cru avec toi. Ou que vous reveniez à notre religion.» - Il dit: «Est-ce même quand cela nous répugne?»

Said the eminent ones who were arrogant among his people, "We will surely evict you, O Shu'ayb, and those who have believed with you from our city, or you must return to our religion." He said, "Even if we were unwilling

قَدِ اِ۪فْتَرَيْنَا عَلَى اَ۬للَّهِ كَذِباً اِنْ عُدْنَا فِے مِلَّتِكُم بَعْدَ إِذْ نَجّ۪يٰنَا اَ۬للَّهُ مِنْهَاۖ وَمَا يَكُونُ لَنَآ أَن نَّعُودَ فِيهَآ إِلَّآ أَنْ يَّشَآءَ اَ۬للَّهُ رَبُّنَاۖ وَسِعَ رَبُّنَا كُلَّ شَےْءٍ عِلْماًۖ عَلَى اَ۬للَّهِ تَوَكَّلْنَاۖ رَبَّنَا اَ۪فْتَحْ بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَ قَوْمِنَا بِالْحَقِّۖ وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ اُ۬لْفَٰتِحِينَۖ ﱗ

Qadi ftaraynâ ‘alâ llâhi kadhibani n ‘udnâ fî millatikum ba‘da idh najjênâ llâhu minhâ wamâ yakûnu lanâ an na‘ûda fîhâ illâ ay yashâ'a llâhu rabbunâ wasi‘a rabbunâ kulla shay'in ‘ilman ‘alâ llâhi tawakkalnâ rabbanâ ftah baynanâ wabayna qawminâ bilhaqqi wa'anta khayru lfâtihîn

Certes, nous aurions forgé un mensonge contre Allah si nous revenions à votre religion après qu'Allah nous en a sauvés. Il ne nous appartient pas d'y retourner à moins qu'Allah notre Seigneur ne le veuille. Notre Seigneur embrasse toute chose de Sa science. C'est en Allah que nous plaçons notre confiance. O notre Seigneur, tranche par la vérité, entre nous et notre peuple car Tu es le meilleur des juges.»

We would have invented against Allah a lie if we returned to your religion after Allah had saved us from it. And it is not for us to return to it except that Allah, our Lord, should will. Our Lord has encompassed all things in knowledge. Upon Allah we have relied. Our Lord, decide between us and our people in truth, and You are the best of those who give decision

وَقَالَ اَ۬لْمَلَأُ اُ۬لذِينَ كَفَرُواْ مِن قَوْمِهِۦ لَئِنِ اِ۪تَّبَعْتُمْ شُعَيْباً اِنَّكُمُۥٓ إِذاٗ لَّخَٰسِرُونَۖ ﱘ

Waqâla lmala'u lladhîna kafarû min qawmihî la'ini ttaba‘tum shu‘aybani nnakumû idhal lakhâsirûn

Et les notables de son peuple qui ne croyaient pas, dirent: «Si vous suivez Chu'aïb, vous serez assurément perdants»

Said the eminent ones who disbelieved among his people, "If you should follow Shu'ayb, indeed, you would then be losers

فَأَخَذَتْهُمُ اُ۬لرَّجْفَةُ فَأَصْبَحُواْ فِے د۪ارِهِمْ جَٰثِمِينَۖ ﱙ

Fa'akhadhathumu rrajfatu fa'asbahû fî dêrihim jâthimîn

Alors le tremblement (de terre) les saisit; et les voilà étendus, gisant dans leurs demeures

So the earthquake seized them, and they became within their home [corpses] fallen prone

اَ۬لذِينَ كَذَّبُواْ شُعَيْباٗ كَأَن لَّمْ يَغْنَوْاْ فِيهَاۖ اَ۬لذِينَ كَذَّبُواْ شُعَيْباٗ كَانُواْ هُمُ اُ۬لْخَٰسِرِينَۖ ﱚ

Alladhîna kadhdhabû shu‘ayban ka'al lam yaghnaw fîhâ lladhîna kadhdhabû shu‘ayban kânû humu lkhâsirîn

Ceux qui traitaient Chu'aïb de menteur (disparurent) comme s'ils n'y avaient jamais vécu. Ceux qui traitaient Chu'aïb de menteur furent eux les perdants

Those who denied Shu'ayb - it was as though they had never resided there. Those who denied Shu'ayb - it was they who were the losers

فَتَوَلّ۪ىٰ عَنْهُمْ وَقَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ لَقَدَ اَبْلَغْتُكُمْ رِسَٰلَٰتِ رَبِّے وَنَصَحْتُ لَكُمْۖ فَكَيْفَ ءَاس۪ىٰ عَلَىٰ قَوْمٖ كٰ۪فِرِينَۖ ﱛ

Fatawallê ‘anhum waqâla yâqawmi laqada blaghtukum risâlâti rabbî wanasahtu lakum fakayfa âsê ‘alâ qawmin kêfirîn

Il se détourna d'eux et dit: «O mon peuple, je vous ai bien communiqué les messages de mon Seigneur et donné des conseils. Comment donc m'attristerais-je sur des gens mécréants?»

And he turned away from them and said, "O my people, I had certainly conveyed to you the messages of my Lord and advised you, so how could I grieve for a disbelieving people

وَمَآ أَرْسَلْنَا فِے قَرْيَةٖ مِّن نَّبِےٓءٍ اِلَّآ أَخَذْنَآ أَهْلَهَا بِالْبَأْسَآءِ وَالضَّرَّآءِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَضَّرَّعُونَۖ ﱜ

Wamâ arsalnâ fî qaryatim min nabî'ini llâ akhadhnâ ahlahâ bilba'sâ'i waddarrâ'i la‘allahum yaddarra‘ûn

Nous n'avons envoyé aucun prophète dans une cité, sans que Nous n'ayons pris ses habitants ensuite par l'adversité et la détresse afin qu'ils implorent (le pardon)

And We sent to no city a prophet [who was denied] except that We seized its people with poverty and hardship that they might humble themselves [to Allah]

ثُمَّ بَدَّلْنَا مَكَانَ اَ۬لسَّيِّئَةِ اِ۬لْحَسَنَةَ حَتَّىٰ عَفَواْۖ وَّقَالُواْ قَدْ مَسَّ ءَابَآءَنَا اَ۬لضَّرَّآءُ وَالسَّرَّآءُ فَأَخَذْنَٰهُم بَغْتَةٗ وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَۖ ﱝ

Thumma baddalnâ makâna ssayyî'ati lhasanata hattâ ‘afaw waqâlû qad massa âbâ'anâ ddarrâ'u wassarrâ'u fa'akhadhnâhum baghtatan wahum lâ yash‘urûn

Puis Nous avons changé leur mauvaise condition en y substituant le bien, au point qu'ayant grandi en nombre et en richesse, ils dirent: «La détresse et l'aisance ont touché nos ancêtres aussi.» Eh bien, Nous les avons saisis soudain, sans qu'ils s'en rendent compte

Then We exchanged in place of the bad [condition], good, until they increased [and prospered] and said, "Our fathers [also] were touched with hardship and ease." So We seized them suddenly while they did not perceive

وَلَوَ اَنَّ أَهْلَ اَ۬لْقُر۪ىٰٓ ءَامَنُواْ وَاتَّقَوْاْ لَفَتَحْنَا عَلَيْهِم بَرَكَٰتٖ مِّنَ اَ۬لسَّمَآءِ وَالَارْضِۖ وَلَٰكِن كَذَّبُواْ فَأَخَذْنَٰهُم بِمَا كَانُواْ يَكْسِبُونَۖ ﱞ

Walawa nna ahla lqurê âmanû wattaqaw lafatahnâ ‘alayhim barakâtim mina ssamâ'i walardi walâkin kadhdhabû fa'akhadhnâhum bimâ kânû yaksibûn

Si les habitants des cités avaient cru et avaient été pieux, Nous leur aurions certainement accordé des bénédictions du ciel et de la terre. Mais ils ont démenti et Nous les avons donc saisis, pour ce qu'ils avaient acquis

And if only the people of the cities had believed and feared Allah, We would have opened upon them blessings from the heaven and the earth; but they denied [the messengers], so We seized them for what they were earning

أَفَأَمِنَ أَهْلُ اُ۬لْقُر۪ىٰٓ أَنْ يَّاتِيَهُم بَأْسُنَا بَيَٰتاٗ وَهُمْ نَآئِمُونَ ﱟ

Afa'amina ahlu lqurê ay yâtiyahum ba'sunâ bayâtan wahum nâ'imûn

Les gens des cités sont-ils sûrs que Notre châtiment rigoureux ne les atteindra pas la nuit, pendant qu'ils sont endormis

Then, did the people of the cities feel secure from Our punishment coming to them at night while they were asleep

أَوَاَمِنَ أَهْلُ اُ۬لْقُر۪ىٰٓ أَنْ يَّاتِيَهُم بَأْسُنَا ضُحىٗ وَهُمْ يَلْعَبُونَۖ ﱠ

Awaamina ahlu lqurê ay yâtiyahum ba'sunâ duhan wahum yal‘abûn

Les gens des cités sont-ils sûrs que Notre châtiment rigoureux ne les atteindra pas le jour, pendant qu'ils s'amusent

Or did the people of the cities feel secure from Our punishment coming to them in the morning while they were at play

أَفَأَمِنُواْ مَكْرَ اَ۬للَّهِۖ فَلَا يَامَنُ مَكْرَ اَ۬للَّهِ إِلَّا اَ۬لْقَوْمُ اُ۬لْخَٰسِرُونَۖ ﱡ

Afa'aminû makra llâhi falâ yâmanu makra llâhi illâ lqawmu lkhâsirûn

Sont-ils à l'abri du stratagème d'Allah? Seuls les gens perdus se sentent à l'abri du stratagème d'Allah

Then did they feel secure from the plan of Allah? But no one feels secure from the plan of Allah except the losing people

۞ أَوَلَمْ يَهْدِ لِلذِينَ يَرِثُونَ اَ۬لَارْضَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ أَهْلِهَآ أَن لَّوْ نَشَآءُ اَ۬صَبْنَٰهُم بِذُنُوبِهِمْۖ وَنَطْبَعُ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمْ فَهُمْ لَا يَسْمَعُونَۖ ﱢ

Awalam yahdi lilladhîna yarithûna larda mim ba‘di ahlihâ al law nashâ'u sabnâhum bidhunûbihim wanatba‘u ‘alâ qulûbihim fahum lâ yasma‘ûn

N'est-il pas prouvé à ceux qui reçoivent la terre en héritage des peuples précédents que, si Nous voulions, Nous les frapperions pour leurs péchés et scellerions leurs cœurs, et ils n'entendraient plus rien

Has it not become clear to those who inherited the earth after its [previous] people that if We willed, We could afflict them for their sins? But We seal over their hearts so they do not hear

تِلْكَ اَ۬لْقُر۪ىٰ نَقُصُّ عَلَيْكَ مِنَ اَنۢبَآئِهَاۖ وَلَقَدْ جَآءَتْهُمْ رُسُلُهُم بِالْبَيِّنَٰتِ فَمَا كَانُواْ لِيُومِنُواْ بِمَا كَذَّبُواْ مِن قَبْلُۖ كَذَٰلِكَ يَطْبَعُ اُ۬للَّهُ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِ اِ۬لْكٰ۪فِرِينَۖ ﱣ

Tilka lqurê naqussu ‘alayka mina mbâ'ihâ walaqad jâ'athum rusuluhum bilbayyinâti famâ kânû liyûminû bimâ kadhdhabû min qablu kadhâlika yatba‘u llâhu ‘alâ qulûbi lkêfirîn

Voilà les cités dont Nous te racontons certaines de leurs nouvelles. [A ceux-là,] en vérité, leurs messagers leur avaient apporté les preuves, mais ils n'étaient pas prêts à accepter ce qu'auparavant ils avaient traité de mensonge. C'est ainsi qu'Allah scelle les cœurs des mécréants

Those cities - We relate to you, [O Muhammad], some of their news. And certainly did their messengers come to them with clear proofs, but they were not to believe in that which they had denied before. Thus does Allah seal over the hearts of the disbelievers

وَمَا وَجَدْنَا لِأَكْثَرِهِم مِّنْ عَهْدٖۖ وَإِنْ وَّجَدْنَآ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَفَٰسِقِينَۖ ﱤ

Wamâ wajadnâ li'aktharihim min ‘ahdin wa'iw wajadnâ aktharahum lafâsiqîn

Et Nous n'avons trouvé chez la plupart d'entre eux aucun respect de l'engagement; mais Nous avons trouvé la plupart d'entre eux pervers

And We did not find for most of them any covenant; but indeed, We found most of them defiantly disobedient

ثُمَّ بَعَثْنَا مِنۢ بَعْدِهِم مُّوس۪ىٰ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَآ إِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ وَمَلَإِيْهِۦ فَظَلَمُواْ بِهَاۖ فَانظُرْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ اُ۬لْمُفْسِدِينَۖ ﱥ

Thumma ba‘athnâ mim ba‘dihim mûsê bi'âyâtinâ ilâ fir‘awna wamala'iyhî fazalamû bihâ fânzur kayfa kâna ‘âqibatu lmufsidîn

Puis, après [ces messagers,] Nous avons envoyé Moïse avec Nos miracles vers Pharaon et ses notables. Mais ils se montrèrent injustes envers Nos signes. Considère donc quelle fut la fin des corrupteurs

Then We sent after them Moses with Our signs to Pharaoh and his establishment, but they were unjust toward them. So see how was the end of the corrupters

وَقَالَ مُوس۪ىٰ يَٰفِرْعَوْنُ إِنِّے رَسُولٞ مِّن رَّبِّ اِ۬لْعَٰلَمِينَ ﱦ

Waqâla mûsê yâfir‘awnu innî rasûlum mir rabbi l‘âlamîn

Et Moïse dit: «O Pharaon, je suis un Messager de la part du Seigneur de l'Univers

And Moses said, "O Pharaoh, I am a messenger from the Lord of the worlds

حَقِيقٌۖ عَلَيَّ أَن لَّآ أَقُولَ عَلَى اَ۬للَّهِ إِلَّا اَ۬لْحَقَّۖ قَدْ جِئْتُكُم بِبَيِّنَةٖ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْۖ فَأَرْسِلْ مَعِے بَنِےٓ إِسْرَآءِيلَۖ ﱧ

Haqîqun ‘alayya al lâ aqûla ‘alâ llâhi illâ lhaqqa qad jî'tukum bibayyinatim mir rabbikum fa'arsil ma‘î banî isrâ'îl

je ne dois dire sur Allah que la vérité. Je suis venu à vous avec une preuve de la part de votre Seigneur. Laisse donc partir avec moi les Enfants d'Israël.»

[Who is] obligated not to say about Allah except the truth. I have come to you with clear evidence from your Lord, so send with me the Children of Israel

قَالَ إِن كُنتَ جِئْتَ بِـَٔايَةٖ فَاتِ بِهَآ إِن كُنتَ مِنَ اَ۬لصَّٰدِقِينَۖ ﱨ

Qâla in kunta jî'ta bi'âyatin fâti bihâ in kunta mina ssâdiqîn

«Si tu es venu avec un miracle, dit (Pharaon,) apporte-le donc, si tu es du nombre des véridiques.»

[Pharaoh] said, "If you have come with a sign, then bring it forth, if you should be of the truthful

فَأَلْق۪ىٰ عَصَاهُ فَإِذَا هِيَ ثُعْبَانٞ مُّبِينٞ ﱩ

Fa'alqê ‘asâhu fa'idhâ hiya thu‘bânum mubîn

Il jeta son bâton et voilà que c'était un serpent évident

So Moses threw his staff, and suddenly it was a serpent, manifest

وَنَزَعَ يَدَهُۥ فَإِذَا هِيَ بَيْضَآءُ لِلنَّٰظِرِينَۖ ﱪ

Wanaza‘a yadahû fa'idhâ hiya baydâ'u linnâzirîn

Et il sortit sa main et voilà qu'elle était blanche (éclatante), pour ceux qui regardaient

And he drew out his hand; thereupon it was white [with radiance] for the observers

قَالَ اَ۬لْمَلَأُ مِن قَوْمِ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَسَٰحِرٌ عَلِيمٞ ﱫ

Qâla lmala'u min qawmi fir‘awna inna hâdhâ lasâhirun ‘alîm

Les notables du peuple de Pharaon dirent: «Voilà, certes, un magicien chevronné

Said the eminent among the people of Pharaoh, "Indeed, this is a learned magician

يُرِيدُ أَنْ يُّخْرِجَكُم مِّنَ اَرْضِكُمْۖ فَمَاذَا تَامُرُونَۖ ﱬ

Yurîdu ay yukhrijakum mina rdikum famâdhâ tâmurûn

Il veut vous expulser de votre pays.» - «Alors, que commandez-vous?»

Who wants to expel you from your land [through magic], so what do you instruct

قَالُوٓاْ أَرْجِهِۦ وَأَخَاهُ وَأَرْسِلْ فِے اِ۬لْمَدَآئِنِ حَٰشِرِينَ ﱭ

Qâlû arjihî wa'akhâhu wa'arsil fî lmadâ'ini hâshirîn

Ils dirent: «Fais-le attendre, lui et son frère, et envoie des rassembleurs dans les villes

They said, "Postpone [the matter of] him and his brother and send among the cities gatherers

يَاتُوكَ بِكُلِّ سَٰحِرٍ عَلِيمٖۖ ﱮ

Yâtûka bikulli sâhirin ‘alîm

qui t'amèneront tout magicien averti

Who will bring you every learned magician

وَجَآءَ اَ۬لسَّحَرَةُ فِرْعَوْنَ قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّ لَنَا لَأَجْراً اِن كُنَّا نَحْنُ اُ۬لْغَٰلِبِينَۖ ﱯ

Wajâ'a ssaharatu fir‘awna qâlû inna lanâ la'ajrani n kunnâ nahnu lghâlibîn

Et les magiciens vinrent à Pharaon en disant: «Y aura-t-il vraiment une récompense pour nous, si nous sommes les vainqueurs?»

And the magicians came to Pharaoh. They said, "Indeed for us is a reward if we are the predominant

قَالَ نَعَمْ وَإِنَّكُمْ لَمِنَ اَ۬لْمُقَرَّبِينَۖ ﱰ

Qâla na‘am wa'innakum lamina lmuqarrabîn

Il dit: «Oui, et vous serez certainement du nombre de mes rapprochés»

He said, "Yes, and, [moreover], you will be among those made near [to me]

قَالُواْ يَٰمُوس۪ىٰٓ إِمَّآ أَن تُلْقِيَ وَإِمَّآ أَن نَّكُونَ نَحْنُ اُ۬لْمُلْقِينَۖ ﱱ

Qâlû yâmûsê immâ an tulqiya wa'immâ an nakûna nahnu lmulqîn

Ils dirent: «O Moïse, ou bien tu jetteras (le premier), ou bien nous serons les premiers à jeter»

They said, "O Moses, either you throw [your staff], or we will be the ones to throw [first]

قَالَ أَلْقُواْۖ فَلَمَّآ أَلْقَوْاْ سَحَرُوٓاْ أَعْيُنَ اَ۬لنَّاسِ وَاسْتَرْهَبُوهُمْۖ وَجَآءُو بِسِحْرٍ عَظِيمٖۖ ﱲ

Qâla alqû falammâ alqaw saharû a‘yuna nnâsi wastarhabûhum wajâ'û bisihrin ‘azîm

«Jetez» dit-il. Puis lorsqu'ils eurent jeté, ils ensorcelèrent les yeux des gens et les épouvantèrent, et vinrent avec une puissante magie

He said, "Throw," and when they threw, they bewitched the eyes of the people and struck terror into them, and they presented a great [feat of] magic

۞ وَأَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَىٰ مُوس۪ىٰٓ أَنَ اَلْقِ عَصَاكَۖ فَإِذَا هِيَ تَلَقَّفُ مَا يَافِكُونَۖ ﱳ

Wa'awhaynâ ilâ mûsê ana lqi ‘asâka fa'idhâ hiya talaqqafu mâ yâfikûn

Et Nous révélâmes à Moïse: «Jette ton bâton». Et voilà que celui-ci se mit à engloutir ce qu'ils avaient fabriqué

And We inspired to Moses, "Throw your staff," and at once it devoured what they were falsifying

فَوَقَعَ اَ۬لْحَقُّ وَبَطَلَ مَا كَانُواْ يَعْمَلُونَۖ ﱴ

Fawaqa‘a lhaqqu wabatala mâ kânû ya‘malûn

Ainsi la vérité se manifesta et ce qu'ils firent fût vain

So the truth was established, and abolished was what they were doing

فَغُلِبُواْ هُنَالِكَ وَانقَلَبُواْ صَٰغِرِينَۖ ﱵ

Faghulibû hunâlika wânqalabû sâghirîn

Ainsi ils furent battus et se trouvèrent humiliés

And Pharaoh and his people were overcome right there and became debased

وَأُلْقِيَ اَ۬لسَّحَرَةُ سَٰجِدِينَۖ ﱶ

Wa'ulqiya ssaharatu sâjidîn

Et les magiciens se jetèrent prosternés

And the magicians fell down in prostration [to Allah]

قَالُوٓاْ ءَامَنَّا بِرَبِّ اِ۬لْعَٰلَمِينَ ﱷ

Qâlû âmannâ birabbi l‘âlamîn

Ils dirent: «Nous croyons au Seigneur de l'Univers

They said, "We have believed in the Lord of the worlds

رَبِّ مُوس۪ىٰ وَهَٰرُونَۖ ﱸ

Rabbi mûsê wahârûn

au Seigneur de Moïse et d'Aaron.»

The Lord of Moses and Aaron

قَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ ءَاٰ۬مَنتُم بِهِۦ قَبْلَ أَنَ اٰذَنَ لَكُمُۥٓ إِنَّ هَٰذَا لَمَكْرٞ مَّكَرْتُمُوهُ فِے اِ۬لْمَدِينَةِ لِتُخْرِجُواْ مِنْهَآ أَهْلَهَاۖ فَسَوْفَ تَعْلَمُونَۖ ﱹ

Qâla fir‘awnu âmantum bihî qabla ana âdhana lakumû inna hâdhâ lamakrum makartumûhu fî lmadînati litukhrijû minhâ ahlahâ fasawfa ta‘lamûn

«Y avez-vous cru avant que je ne vous (le) permette? dit Pharaon. C'est bien un stratagème que vous avez manigancé dans la ville, afin d'en faire partir ses habitants. Vous saurez bientôt

Said Pharaoh, "You believed in him before I gave you permission. Indeed, this is a conspiracy which you conspired in the city to expel therefrom its people. But you are going to know

لَأُقَطِّعَنَّ أَيْدِيَكُمْ وَأَرْجُلَكُم مِّنْ خِلَٰفٖ ثُمَّ لَأُصَلِّبَنَّكُمُۥٓ أَجْمَعِينَۖ ﱺ

La'uqatti‘anna aydiyakum wa'arjulakum min khilâfin thumma la'usallibannakumû ajma‘în

Je vais vous couper la main et la jambe opposées, et puis, je vous crucifierai tous.»

I will surely cut off your hands and your feet on opposite sides; then I will surely crucify you all

قَالُوٓاْ إِنَّآ إِلَىٰ رَبِّنَا مُنقَلِبُونَۖ ﱻ

Qâlû innâ ilâ rabbinâ munqalibûn

Ils dirent: «En vérité, c'est vers notre Seigneur que nous retournerons

They said, "Indeed, to our Lord we will return

وَمَا تَنقِمُ مِنَّآ إِلَّآ أَنَ اٰمَنَّا بِـَٔايَٰتِ رَبِّنَا لَمَّا جَآءَتْنَاۖ رَبَّنَآ أَفْرِغْ عَلَيْنَا صَبْراٗ وَتَوَفَّنَا مُسْلِمِينَۖ ﱼ

Wamâ tanqimu minnâ illâ ana âmannâ bi'âyâti rabbinâ lammâ jâ'atnâ rabbanâ afrigh ‘alaynâ sabran watawaffanâ muslimîn

Tu ne te venges de nous que parce que nous avons cru aux preuves de notre Seigneur, lorsqu'elles nous sont venues. O notre Seigneur! Déverse sur nous l'endurance et fais nous mourir entièrement soumis.»

And you do not resent us except because we believed in the signs of our Lord when they came to us. Our Lord, pour upon us patience and let us die as Muslims [in submission to You]

وَقَالَ اَ۬لْمَلَأُ مِن قَوْمِ فِرْعَوْنَ أَتَذَرُ مُوس۪ىٰ وَقَوْمَهُۥ لِيُفْسِدُواْ فِے اِ۬لَارْضِ وَيَذَرَكَ وَءَالِهَتَكَۖ قَالَ سَنَقْتُلُ أَبْنَآءَهُمْ وَنَسْتَحْيِۦ نِسَآءَهُمْ وَإِنَّا فَوْقَهُمْ قَٰهِرُونَۖ ﱽ

Waqâla lmala'u min qawmi fir‘awna atadharu mûsê waqawmahû liyufsidû fî lardi wayadharaka wa'âlihataka qâla sanaqtulu abnâ'ahum wanastahyî nisâ'ahum wa'innâ fawqahum qâhirûn

Et les notables du peuple de Pharaon dirent: «Laisseras-tu Moïse et son peuple commettre du désordre sur la terre, et lui-même te délaisser, toi et tes divinités?» Il dit: «Nous allons massacrer leurs fils et laisser vivre leurs femmes. Nous aurons le dessus sur eux et les dominerons.»

And the eminent among the people of Pharaoh said," Will you leave Moses and his people to cause corruption in the land and abandon you and your gods?" [Pharaoh] said, "We will kill their sons and keep their women alive; and indeed, we are subjugators over them

قَالَ مُوس۪ىٰ لِقَوْمِهِ اِ۪سْتَعِينُواْ بِاللَّهِ وَاصْبِرُوٓاْۖ إِنَّ اَ۬لَارْضَ لِلهِ يُورِثُهَا مَنْ يَّشَآءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِۦۖ وَالْعَٰقِبَةُ لِلْمُتَّقِينَۖ ﱾ

Qâla mûsê liqawmihi sta‘înû billâhi wasbirû inna larda lillâhi yûrithuhâ may yashâ'u min ‘ibâdihî wal‘âqibatu lilmuttaqîn

Moïse dit à son peuple: «Demandez aide auprès d'Allah et soyez patients, car la terre appartient à Allah. Il en fait héritier qui Il veut parmi Ses serviteurs. Et la fin (heureuse) sera aux pieux»

Said Moses to his people, "Seek help through Allah and be patient. Indeed, the earth belongs to Allah. He causes to inherit it whom He wills of His servants. And the [best] outcome is for the righteous

قَالُوٓاْ أُوذِينَا مِن قَبْلِ أَن تَاتِيَنَا وَمِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا جِئْتَنَاۖ قَالَ عَس۪ىٰ رَبُّكُمُۥٓ أَنْ يُّهْلِكَ عَدُوَّكُمْ وَيَسْتَخْلِفَكُمْ فِے اِ۬لَارْضِ فَيَنظُرَ كَيْفَ تَعْمَلُونَۖ ﱿ

Qâlû ûdhînâ min qabli an tâtiyanâ wamim ba‘di mâ jî'tanâ qâla ‘asê rabbukumû ay yuhlika ‘aduwwakum wayastakhlifakum fî lardi fayanzura kayfa ta‘malûn

Ils dirent: «Nous avons été persécutés avant que tu ne viennes à nous, et après ton arrivée.» Il dit: «Il se peut que votre Seigneur détruise votre ennemi et vous donne la lieutenance sur terre, et Il verra ensuite comment vous agirez»

They said, "We have been harmed before you came to us and after you have come to us." He said, "Perhaps your Lord will destroy your enemy and grant you succession in the land and see how you will do

وَلَقَدَ اَخَذْنَآ ءَالَ فِرْعَوْنَ بِالسِّنِينَ وَنَقْصٖ مِّنَ اَ۬لثَّمَرَٰتِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَذَّكَّرُونَۖ ﲀ

Walaqada khadhnâ âla fir‘awna bissinîna wanaqsim mina ththamarâti la‘allahum yadhdhakkarûn

Nous avons éprouvé les gens de Pharaon par des années de disette et par une diminution des fruits afin qu'ils se rappellent

And We certainly seized the people of Pharaoh with years of famine and a deficiency in fruits that perhaps they would be reminded

فَإِذَا جَآءَتْهُمُ اُ۬لْحَسَنَةُ قَالُواْ لَنَا هَٰذِهِۦۖ وَإِن تُصِبْهُمْ سَيِّئَةٞ يَطَّيَّرُواْ بِمُوس۪ىٰ وَمَن مَّعَهُۥٓۖ أَلَآ إِنَّمَا طَٰٓئِرُهُمْ عِندَ اَ۬للَّهِۖ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَۖ ﲁ

Fa'idhâ jâ'athumu lhasanatu qâlû lanâ hâdhihî wa'in tusibhum sayyî'atun yattayyarû bimûsê wamam ma‘ahû alâ innamâ tâ'iruhum ‘inda llâhi walâkinna aktharahum lâ ya‘lamûn

Et quand le bien-être leur vint, ils dirent: «Cela nous est dû» et si un mal les atteignait, ils voyaient en Moïse et ceux qui étaient avec lui un mauvais augure. En vérité leur sort dépend uniquement d'Allah? Mais la plupart d'entre eux ne savent pas

But when good came to them, they said, "This is ours [by right]." And if a bad [condition] struck them, they saw an evil omen in Moses and those with him. Unquestionably, their fortune is with Allah, but most of them do not know

۞ وَقَالُواْ مَهْمَا تَاتِنَا بِهِۦ مِنَ اٰيَةٖ لِّتَسْحَرَنَا بِهَا فَمَا نَحْنُ لَكَ بِمُومِنِينَۖ ﲂ

Waqâlû mahmâ tâtinâ bihî mina âyatil litasharanâ bihâ famâ nahnu laka bimûminîn

Et ils dirent: «Quel que soit le miracle que tu nous apportes pour nous fasciner, nous ne croirons pas en toi»

And they said, "No matter what sign you bring us with which to bewitch us, we will not be believers in you

فَأَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمُ اُ۬لطُّوفَانَ وَالْجَرَادَ وَالْقُمَّلَ وَالضَّفَادِعَ وَالدَّمَ ءَايَٰتٖ مُّفَصَّلَٰتٖ فَاسْتَكْبَرُواْ وَكَانُواْ قَوْماٗ مُّجْرِمِينَۖ ﲃ

Fa'arsalnâ ‘alayhimu ttûfâna waljarâda walqummala waddafâdi‘a waddama âyâtim mufassalâtin fastakbarû wakânû qawmam mujrimîn

Et Nous avons alors envoyé sur eux l'inondation, les sauterelles, les poux (ou la calandre), les grenouilles et le sang, comme signes explicites. Mais ils s'enflèrent d'orgueil et demeurèrent un peuple criminel

So We sent upon them the flood and locusts and lice and frogs and blood as distinct signs, but they were arrogant and were a criminal people

وَلَمَّا وَقَعَ عَلَيْهِمُ اُ۬لرِّجْزُ قَالُواْ يَٰمُوسَى اَ۟دْعُ لَنَا رَبَّكَ بِمَا عَهِدَ عِندَكَ لَئِن كَشَفْتَ عَنَّا اَ۬لرِّجْزَ لَنُومِنَنَّ لَكَ وَلَنُرْسِلَنَّ مَعَكَ بَنِےٓ إِسْرَآءِيلَۖ ﲄ

Walammâ waqa‘a ‘alayhimu rrijzu qâlû yâmûsâ d‘u lanâ rabbaka bimâ ‘ahida ‘indaka la'in kashafta ‘annâ rrijza lanûminanna laka walanursilanna ma‘aka banî isrâ'îl

Et quand le châtiment les frappa, ils dirent: «O Moïse, invoque pour nous ton Seigneur en vertu de l'engagement qu'Il t'a donné. Si tu éloignes de nous le châtiment, nous croirons certes en toi et laisserons partir avec toi les enfants d'Israël»

And when the punishment descended upon them, they said, "O Moses, invoke for us your Lord by what He has promised you. If you [can] remove the punishment from us, we will surely believe you, and we will send with you the Children of Israel

فَلَمَّا كَشَفْنَا عَنْهُمُ اُ۬لرِّجْزَ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٍ هُم بَٰلِغُوهُ إِذَا هُمْ يَنكُثُونَۖ ﲅ

Falammâ kashafnâ ‘anhumu rrijza ilâ ajalin hum bâlighûhu idhâ hum yankuthûn

Et quand Nous eûmes éloigné d'eux le châtiment jusqu'au terme fixé qu'ils devaient atteindre, voilà qu'ils violèrent l'engagement

But when We removed the punishment from them until a term which they were to reach, then at once they broke their word

فَانتَقَمْنَا مِنْهُمْ فَأَغْرَقْنَٰهُمْ فِے اِ۬لْيَمِّ بِأَنَّهُمْ كَذَّبُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا وَكَانُواْ عَنْهَا غَٰفِلِينَۖ ﲆ

Fântaqamnâ minhum fa'aghraqnâhum fî lyammi bi'annahum kadhdhabû bi'âyâtinâ wakânû ‘anhâ ghâfilîn

Alors Nous Nous sommes vengés d'eux; Nous les avons noyés dans les flots, parce qu'ils traitaient de mensonges Nos signes et n'y prêtaient aucune attention

So We took retribution from them, and We drowned them in the sea because they denied Our signs and were heedless of them

وَأَوْرَثْنَا اَ۬لْقَوْمَ اَ۬لذِينَ كَانُواْ يُسْتَضْعَفُونَ مَشَٰرِقَ اَ۬لَارْضِ وَمَغَٰرِبَهَا اَ۬لتِے بَٰرَكْنَا فِيهَاۖ وَتَمَّتْ كَلِمَةُ رَبِّكَ اَ۬لْحُسْن۪ىٰ عَلَىٰ بَنِےٓ إِسْرَآءِيلَ ﲇ

Wa'awrathnâ lqawma lladhîna kânû yustad‘afûna mashâriqa lardi wamaghâribahâ llatî bâraknâ fîhâ watammat kalimatu rabbika lhusnê ‘alâ banî isrâ'îl

Et les gens qui étaient opprimés, Nous les avons fait hériter les contrées orientales et occidentales de la terre que Nous avons bénies. Et la très belle promesse de ton Seigneur sur les enfants d'Israël s'accomplit pour prix de leur endurance. Et Nous avons détruit ce que faisaient Pharaon et son peuple, ainsi que ce qu'ils construisaient

And We caused the people who had been oppressed to inherit the eastern regions of the land and the western ones, which We had blessed. And the good word of your Lord was fulfilled for the Children of Israel because of what they had patiently endured. And We destroyed [all] that Pharaoh and his people were producing and what they had been building

بِمَا صَبَرُواْۖ وَدَمَّرْنَا مَا كَانَ يَصْنَعُ فِرْعَوْنُ وَقَوْمُهُۥ وَمَا كَانُواْ يَعْرِشُونَۖ ﲈ

Bimâ sabarû wadammarnâ mâ kâna yasna‘u fir‘awnu waqawmuhû wamâ kânû ya‘rishûn

وَجَٰوَزْنَا بِبَنِےٓ إِسْرَآءِيلَ اَ۬لْبَحْرَ فَأَتَوْاْ عَلَىٰ قَوْمٖ يَعْكُفُونَ عَلَىٰٓ أَصْنَامٖ لَّهُمْۖ قَالُواْ يَٰمُوسَى اَ۪جْعَل لَّنَآ إِلَٰهاٗ كَمَا لَهُمُۥٓ ءَالِهَةٞۖ قَالَ إِنَّكُمْ قَوْمٞ تَجْهَلُونَۖ ﲉ

Wajâwaznâ bibanî isrâ'îla lbahra fa'ataw ‘alâ qawmin ya‘kufûna ‘alâ asnâmil lahum qâlû yâmûsâ j‘al lanâ ilâhan kamâ lahumû âlihatun qâla innakum qawmun tajhalûn

Et Nous avons fait traverser la Mer aux Enfants d'Israël. Ils passèrent auprès d'un peuple attaché à ses idoles et dirent: «O Moïse, désigne-nous une divinité semblable à leurs dieux.» Il dit: «Vous êtes certes des gens ignorants

And We took the Children of Israel across the sea; then they came upon a people intent in devotion to [some] idols of theirs. They said, "O Moses, make for us a god just as they have gods." He said, "Indeed, you are a people behaving ignorantly

إِنَّ هَٰٓؤُلَآءِ مُتَبَّرٞ مَّا هُمْ فِيهِۖ وَبَٰطِلٞ مَّا كَانُواْ يَعْمَلُونَۖ ﲊ

Inna hâ'ulâ'i mutabbarum mâ hum fîhi wabâtilum mâ kânû ya‘malûn

Le culte, auquel ceux-là s'adonnent, est caduc; et tout ce qu'ils font est nul et sans valeur.»

Indeed, those [worshippers] - destroyed is that in which they are [engaged], and worthless is whatever they were doing

قَالَ أَغَيْرَ اَ۬للَّهِ أَبْغِيكُمُۥٓ إِلَٰهاٗ وَهُوَ فَضَّلَكُمْ عَلَى اَ۬لْعَٰلَمِينَۖ ﲋ

Qâla aghayra llâhi abghîkumû ilâhan wahuwa faddalakum ‘alâ l‘âlamîn

Il dit: «Chercherai-je pour vous une autre divinité qu'Allah, alors que c'est Lui qui vous a préférés à toutes les créatures [de leur époque]?»

He said, "Is it other than Allah I should desire for you as a god while He has preferred you over the worlds

وَإِذَ اَنجَيْنَٰكُم مِّنَ اٰلِ فِرْعَوْنَ يَسُومُونَكُمْ سُوٓءَ اَ۬لْعَذَابِ يَقْتُلُونَ أَبْنَآءَكُمْ وَيَسْتَحْيُونَ نِسَآءَكُمْۖ وَفِے ذَٰلِكُم بَلَآءٞ مِّن رَّبِّكُمْ عَظِيمٞۖ ﲌ

Wa'idha njaynâkum mina âli fir‘awna yasûmûnakum sû'a l‘adhâbi yaqtulûna abnâ'akum wayastahyûna nisâ'akum wafî dhâlikum balâ'um mir rabbikum ‘azîm

(Rappelez-vous) le moment où Nous vous sauvâmes des gens de Pharaon qui vous infligeaient le pire châtiment. Ils massacraient vos fils et laissaient vivre vos femmes. C'était là une terrible épreuve de la part de votre Seigneur

And [recall, O Children of Israel], when We saved you from the people of Pharaoh, [who were] afflicting you with the worst torment - killing your sons and keeping your women alive. And in that was a great trial from your Lord

۞ وَوَٰعَدْنَا مُوس۪ىٰ ثَلَٰثِينَ لَيْلَةٗ وَأَتْمَمْنَٰهَا بِعَشْرٖ فَتَمَّ مِيقَٰتُ رَبِّهِۦٓ أَرْبَعِينَ لَيْلَةٗۖ وَقَالَ مُوس۪ىٰ لِأَخِيهِ هَٰرُونَ اَ۟خْلُفْنِے فِے قَوْمِے وَأَصْلِحْ وَلَا تَتَّبِعْ سَبِيلَ اَ۬لْمُفْسِدِينَۖ ﲍ

Wawâ‘adnâ mûsê thalâthîna laylatan wa'atmamnâhâ bi‘ashrin fatamma mîqâtu rabbihî arba‘îna laylatan waqâla mûsê li'akhîhi hârûna khlufnî fî qawmî wa'aslih walâ tattabi‘ sabîla lmufsidîn

Et Nous donnâmes à Moïse rendez-vous pendant trente nuits, et Nous les complétâmes par dix, de sorte que le temps fixé par son Seigneur se termina au bout de quarante nuits. Et Moïse dit à Aaron son frère: «Remplace-moi auprès de mon peuple, et agis en bien, et ne suis pas le sentier des corrupteurs»

And We made an appointment with Moses for thirty nights and perfected them by [the addition of] ten; so the term of his Lord was completed as forty nights. And Moses said to his brother Aaron, "Take my place among my people, do right [by them], and do not follow the way of the corrupters

وَلَمَّا جَآءَ مُوس۪ىٰ لِمِيقَٰتِنَا وَكَلَّمَهُۥ رَبُّهُۥ قَالَ رَبِّ أَرِنِےٓ أَنظُرِ اِلَيْكَۖ قَالَ لَن تَر۪يٰنِے وَلَٰكِنُ اُ۟نظُرِ اِلَى اَ۬لْجَبَلِ فَإِنِ اِ۪سْتَقَرَّ مَكَانَهُۥ فَسَوْفَ تَر۪يٰنِےۖ فَلَمَّا تَجَلّ۪ىٰ رَبُّهُۥ لِلْجَبَلِ جَعَلَهُۥ دَكّاٗ وَخَرَّ مُوس۪ىٰ صَعِقاٗۖ فَلَمَّآ أَفَاقَ قَالَ سُبْحَٰنَكَ تُبْتُ إِلَيْكَ وَأَنَآ أَوَّلُ اُ۬لْمُومِنِينَۖ ﲎ

Walammâ jâ'a mûsê limîqâtinâ wakallamahû rabbuhû qâla rabbi arinî anzuri layka qâla lan tarênî walâkinu nzuri lâ ljabali fa'ini staqarra makânahû fasawfa tarênî falammâ tajallê rabbuhû liljabali ja‘alahû dakkan wakharra mûsê sa‘iqan falammâ afâqa qâla subhânaka tubtu ilayka wa'anâ awwalu lmûminîn

Et lorsque Moïse vint à Notre rendez-vous et que son Seigneur lui eut parlé, il dit: «O mon Seigneur, montre Toi à moi pour que je Te voie!» Il dit: «Tu ne Me verras pas; mais regarde le Mont: s'il tient en sa place, alors tu Me verras.» Mais lorsque son Seigneur Se manifesta au Mont, Il le pulvérisa, et Moïse s'effondra foudroyé. Lorsqu'il se fut remis, il dit: «Gloire à Toi! A Toi je me repens; et je suis le premier des croyants»

And when Moses arrived at Our appointed time and his Lord spoke to him, he said, "My Lord, show me [Yourself] that I may look at You." [Allah] said, "You will not see Me, but look at the mountain; if it should remain in place, then you will see Me." But when his Lord appeared to the mountain, He rendered it level, and Moses fell unconscious. And when he awoke, he said, "Exalted are You! I have repented to You, and I am the first of the believers

قَالَ يَٰمُوس۪ىٰٓ إِنِّے اِ۪صْطَفَيْتُكَ عَلَى اَ۬لنَّاسِ بِرِسَالَتِے وَبِكَلَٰمِے فَخُذْ مَآ ءَاتَيْتُكَ وَكُن مِّنَ اَ۬لشَّٰكِرِينَۖ ﲏ

Qâla yâmûsê innî stafaytuka ‘alâ nnâsi birisâlatî wabikalâmî fakhudh mâ âtaytuka wakum mina shshâkirîn

Et (Allah) dit: «O Moïse, Je t'ai préféré à tous les hommes, par Mes messages et par Ma parole. Prends donc ce que Je te donne, et sois du nombre des reconnaissants»

[Allah] said, "O Moses, I have chosen you over the people with My messages and My words [to you]. So take what I have given you and be among the grateful

وَكَتَبْنَا لَهُۥ فِے اِ۬لَالْوَاحِ مِن كُلِّ شَےْءٖ مَّوْعِظَةٗ وَتَفْصِيلاٗ لِّكُلِّ شَےْءٖۖ فَخُذْهَا بِقُوَّةٖ وَامُرْ قَوْمَكَ يَاخُذُواْ بِأَحْسَنِهَاۖ سَأُوْرِيكُمْ دَارَ اَ۬لْفَٰسِقِينَۖ ﲐ

Wakatabnâ lahû fî lalwâhi min kulli shay'im maw‘izatan watafsîlal likulli shay'in fakhudhhâ biquwwatin wâmur qawmaka yâkhudhû bi'ahsanihâ sa'urîkum dâra lfâsiqîn

Et Nous écrivîmes pour lui, sur les tablettes, une exhortation concernant toute chose, et un exposé détaillé de toute chose. «Prends-les donc fermement et commande à ton peuple d'en adopter le meilleur. Bientôt Je vous ferai voir la demeure des pervers

And We wrote for him on the tablets [something] of all things - instruction and explanation for all things, [saying], "Take them with determination and order your people to take the best of it. I will show you the home of the defiantly disobedient

سَأَصْرِفُ عَنَ اٰيَٰتِيَ اَ۬لذِينَ يَتَكَبَّرُونَ فِے اِ۬لَارْضِ بِغَيْرِ اِ۬لْحَقِّ وَإِنْ يَّرَوْاْ كُلَّ ءَايَةٖ لَّا يُومِنُواْ بِهَا وَإِنْ يَّرَوْاْ سَبِيلَ اَ۬لرُّشْدِ لَا يَتَّخِذُوهُ سَبِيلاٗ وَإِنْ يَّرَوْاْ سَبِيلَ اَ۬لْغَيِّ يَتَّخِذُوهُ سَبِيلاٗۖ ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ كَذَّبُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا وَكَانُواْ عَنْهَا غَٰفِلِينَۖ ﲑ

Sa'asrifu ‘ana âyâtiya lladhîna yatakabbarûna fî lardi bighayri lhaqqi wa'iy yaraw kulla âyatil lâ yûminû bihâ wa'iy yaraw sabîla rrushdi lâ yattakhidhûhu sabîlan wa'iy yaraw sabîla lghayyi yattakhidhûhu sabîlan dhâlika bi'annahum kadhdhabû bi'âyâtinâ wakânû ‘anhâ ghâfilîn

J'écarterai de Mes signes ceux qui, sans raison, s'enflent d'orgueil sur terre. Même s'ils voyaient tous les miracles, ils n'y croiraient pas. Et s'ils voient le bon sentier, ils ne le prennent pas comme sentier. Mais s'ils voient le sentier de l'erreur, ils le prennent comme sentier. C'est qu'en vérité ils traitent de mensonges Nos preuves et ils ne leur accordaient aucune attention

I will turn away from My signs those who are arrogant upon the earth without right; and if they should see every sign, they will not believe in it. And if they see the way of consciousness, they will not adopt it as a way; but if they see the way of error, they will adopt it as a way. That is because they have denied Our signs and they were heedless of them

وَالذِينَ كَذَّبُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا وَلِقَآءِ اِ۬لَاخِرَةِ حَبِطَتَ اَعْمَٰلُهُمْ هَلْ يُجْزَوْنَ إِلَّا مَا كَانُواْ يَعْمَلُونَۖ ﲒ

Walladhîna kadhdhabû bi'âyâtinâ waliqâ'i lakhirati habitata ‘mâluhum hal yujzawna illâ mâ kânû ya‘malûn

Et ceux qui traitent de mensonges Nos preuves ainsi que la rencontre de l'au-delà, leurs œuvres sont vaines. Seraient-ils rétribués autrement que selon leurs œuvres?»

Those who denied Our signs and the meeting of the Hereafter - their deeds have become worthless. Are they recompensed except for what they used to do

وَاتَّخَذَ قَوْمُ مُوس۪ىٰ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِۦ مِنْ حُلِيِّهِمْ عِجْلاٗ جَسَداٗ لَّهُۥ خُوَارٌۖ اَلَمْ يَرَوَاْ اَنَّهُۥ لَا يُكَلِّمُهُمْ وَلَا يَهْدِيهِمْ سَبِيلاًۖ اِ۪تَّخَذُوهُ وَكَانُواْ ظَٰلِمِينَۖ ﲓ

Wattakhadha qawmu mûsê mim ba‘dihî min huliyyihim ‘ijlan jasadal lahû khuwâruna lam yarawa nnahû lâ yukallimuhum walâ yahdîhim sabîlani ttakhadhûhu wakânû zâlimîn

Et le peuple de Moïse adopta après lui un veau, fait de leurs parures: un corps qui semblait mugir. N'ont-ils pas vu qu'il ne leur parlait point et qu'il ne les guidait sur aucun chemin? Ils l'adoptèrent [comme divinité], et ils étaient des injustes

And the people of Moses made, after [his departure], from their ornaments a calf - an image having a lowing sound. Did they not see that it could neither speak to them nor guide them to a way? They took it [for worship], and they were wrongdoers

۞ وَلَمَّا سُقِطَ فِےٓ أَيْدِيهِمْ وَرَأَوَاْ اَنَّهُمْ قَد ضَّلُّواْ قَالُواْ لَئِن لَّمْ يَرْحَمْنَا رَبُّنَا وَيَغْفِرْ لَنَا لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ اَ۬لْخَٰسِرِينَۖ ﲔ

Walammâ suqita fî aydîhim wara'awa nnahum qad dallû qâlû la'il lam yarhamnâ rabbunâ wayaghfir lanâ lanakûnanna mina lkhâsirîn

Et quand ils éprouvèrent des regrets, et qu'ils virent qu'ils étaient bel et bien égarés, ils dirent: «Si notre Seigneur ne nous fait pas miséricorde et ne nous pardonne pas, nous serons très certainement du nombre des perdants»

And when regret overcame them and they saw that they had gone astray, they said, "If our Lord does not have mercy upon us and forgive us, we will surely be among the losers

وَلَمَّا رَجَعَ مُوس۪ىٰٓ إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِۦ غَضْبَٰنَ أَسِفاٗ قَالَ بِيسَمَا خَلَفْتُمُونِے مِنۢ بَعْدِيَۖ أَعَجِلْتُمُۥٓ أَمْرَ رَبِّكُمْۖ وَأَلْقَى اَ۬لَالْوَاحَ وَأَخَذَ بِرَأْسِ أَخِيهِ يَجُرُّهُۥٓ إِلَيْهِۖ قَالَ اَ۪بْنَ أُمَّ إِنَّ اَ۬لْقَوْمَ اَ۪سْتَضْعَفُونِے وَكَادُواْ يَقْتُلُونَنِے فَلَا تُشْمِتْ بِيَ اَ۬لَاعْدَآءَ وَلَا تَجْعَلْنِے مَعَ اَ۬لْقَوْمِ اِ۬لظَّٰلِمِينَۖ ﲕ

Walammâ raja‘a mûsê ilâ qawmihî ghadbâna asifan qâla bîsamâ khalaftumûnî mim ba‘diya a‘ajiltumû amra rabbikum wa'alqâ lalwâha wa'akhadha bira'si akhîhi yajurruhû ilayhi qâla bna umma inna lqawma stad‘afûnî wakâdû yaqtulûnanî falâ tushmit biya la‘dâ'a walâ taj‘alnî ma‘a lqawmi zzâlimîn

Et lorsque Moïse retourna à son peuple, fâché, attristé, il dit: «Vous avez très mal agi pendant mon absence! Avez-vous voulu hâter le commandement de votre Seigneur?» Il jeta les tablettes et prit la tête de son frère, en la tirant à lui: «O fils de ma mère, dit (Aaron), le peuple m'a traité en faible, et peu s'en est fallu qu'ils ne me tuent. Ne fais donc pas que les ennemis se réjouissent à mes dépens, et ne m'assigne pas la compagnie des gens injustes»

And when Moses returned to his people, angry and grieved, he said, "How wretched is that by which you have replaced me after [my departure]. Were you impatient over the matter of your Lord?" And he threw down the tablets and seized his brother by [the hair of] his head, pulling him toward him. [Aaron] said, "O son of my mother, indeed the people oppressed me and were about to kill me, so let not the enemies rejoice over me and do not place me among the wrongdoing people

قَالَ رَبِّ اِ۪غْفِرْ لِے وَلِأَخِے وَأَدْخِلْنَا فِے رَحْمَتِكَۖ وَأَنتَ أَرْحَمُ اُ۬لرَّٰحِمِينَۖ ﲖ

Qâla rabbi ghfir lî wali'akhî wa'adkhilnâ fî rahmatika wa'anta arhamu rrâhimîn

Et (Moïse) dit: «O mon Seigneur, pardonne à moi et à mon frère et fais-nous entrer en Ta miséricorde, car Tu es Le plus Miséricordieux des miséricordieux»

[Moses] said, "My Lord, forgive me and my brother and admit us into Your mercy, for You are the most merciful of the merciful

إِنَّ اَ۬لذِينَ اَ۪تَّخَذُواْ اُ۬لْعِجْلَ سَيَنَالُهُمْ غَضَبٞ مِّن رَّبِّهِمْ وَذِلَّةٞ فِے اِ۬لْحَيَوٰةِ اِ۬لدُّنْي۪اۖ وَكَذَٰلِكَ نَجْزِے اِ۬لْمُفْتَرِينَۖ ﲗ

Inna lladhîna ttakhadhû l‘ijla sayanâluhum ghadabum mir rabbihim wadhillatun fî lhayawâti ddunyê wakadhâlika najzî lmuftarîn

Ceux qui prenaient le veau (comme divinité), bientôt tombera sur eux de la part de leur Seigneur, une colère, et un avilissement dans la vie présente. Ainsi, Nous rétribuons les inventeurs (d'idoles)

Indeed, those who took the calf [for worship] will obtain anger from their Lord and humiliation in the life of this world, and thus do We recompense the inventors [of falsehood]

وَالذِينَ عَمِلُواْ اُ۬لسَّيِّـَٔاتِ ثُمَّ تَابُواْ مِنۢ بَعْدِهَا وَءَامَنُوٓاْ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ مِنۢ بَعْدِهَا لَغَفُورٞ رَّحِيمٞۖ ﲘ

Walladhîna ‘amilû ssayyi'âti thumma tâbû mim ba‘dihâ wa'âmanû inna rabbaka mim ba‘dihâ laghafûrur rahîm

Ceux qui ont fait de mauvaises actions et qui ensuite se sont repentis et ont cru... ton Seigneur, après cela est sûrement Pardonneur et Miséricordieux

But those who committed misdeeds and then repented after them and believed - indeed your Lord, thereafter, is Forgiving and Merciful

وَلَمَّا سَكَتَ عَن مُّوسَى اَ۬لْغَضَبُ أَخَذَ اَ۬لَالْوَاحَ وَفِے نُسْخَتِهَا هُدىٗ وَرَحْمَةٞ لِّلذِينَ هُمْ لِرَبِّهِمْ يَرْهَبُونَۖ ﲙ

Walammâ sakata ‘am mûsâ lghadabu akhadha lalwâha wafî nuskhatihâ hudan warahmatul lilladhîna hum lirabbihim yarhabûn

Et quand la colère de Moïse se fut calmée, il prit les tablettes. Il y avait dans leur texte guide et miséricorde à l'intention de ceux qui craignent leur Seigneur

And when the anger subsided in Moses, he took up the tablets; and in their inscription was guidance and mercy for those who are fearful of their Lord

وَاخْتَارَ مُوس۪ىٰ قَوْمَهُۥ سَبْعِينَ رَجُلاٗ لِّمِيقَٰتِنَاۖ فَلَمَّآ أَخَذَتْهُمُ اُ۬لرَّجْفَةُ قَالَ رَبِّ لَوْ شِئْتَ أَهْلَكْتَهُم مِّن قَبْلُ وَإِيَّٰيَۖ أَتُهْلِكُنَا بِمَا فَعَلَ اَ۬لسُّفَهَآءُ مِنَّآۖ إِنْ هِيَ إِلَّا فِتْنَتُكَ تُضِلُّ بِهَا مَن تَشَآءُ وَتَهْدِے مَن تَشَآءُۖ اَ۬نتَ وَلِيُّنَا فَاغْفِرْ لَنَا وَارْحَمْنَا وَأَنتَ خَيْرُ اُ۬لْغَٰفِرِينَۖ ﲚ

Wakhtâra mûsê qawmahû sab‘îna rajulal limîqâtinâ falammâ akhadhathumu rrajfatu qâla rabbi law shî'ta ahlaktahum min qablu wa'iyyâya atuhlikunâ bimâ fa‘ala ssufahâ'u minnâ in hiya illâ fitnatuka tudillu bihâ man tashâ'u watahdî man tashâ'u nta waliyyunâ faghfir lanâ warhamnâ wa'anta khayru lghâfirîn

Et Moïse choisit de son peuple soixante-dix hommes pour un rendez-vous avec Nous. Puis lorsqu'ils furent saisis par le tremblement (de terre), il dit: «Mon Seigneur, si Tu avais voulu, Tu les aurais détruits avant, et moi avec. Vas-Tu nous détruire pour ce que des sots d'entre nous ont fait? Ce n'est là qu'une épreuve de Toi, par laquelle Tu égares qui Tu veux, et guides qui Tu veux. Tu es notre Maître. Pardonne-nous et fais-nous miséricorde, car Tu es le Meilleur des pardonneurs

And Moses chose from his people seventy men for Our appointment. And when the earthquake seized them, he said, "My Lord, if You had willed, You could have destroyed them before and me [as well]. Would You destroy us for what the foolish among us have done? This is not but Your trial by which You send astray whom You will and guide whom You will. You are our Protector, so forgive us and have mercy upon us; and You are the best of forgivers

۞ وَاكْتُبْ لَنَا فِے هَٰذِهِ اِ۬لدُّنْي۪ا حَسَنَةٗ وَفِے اِ۬لَاخِرَةِۖ إِنَّا هُدْنَآ إِلَيْكَۖ قَالَ عَذَابِيَ أُصِيبُ بِهِۦ مَنَ اَشَآءُۖ وَرَحْمَتِے وَسِعَتْ كُلَّ شَےْءٖۖ فَسَأَكْتُبُهَا لِلذِينَ يَتَّقُونَ وَيُوتُونَ اَ۬لزَّكَوٰةَ وَالذِينَ هُم بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا يُومِنُونَ ﲛ

Waktub lanâ fî hâdhihi ddunyê hasanatan wafî lakhirati innâ hudnâ ilayka qâla ‘adhâbiya usîbu bihî mana shâ'u warahmatî wasi‘at kulla shay'in fasa'aktubuhâ lilladhîna yattaqûna wayûtûna zzakawâta walladhîna hum bi'âyâtinâ yûminûn

Et prescris pour nous le bien ici-bas ainsi que dans l'au-delà. Nous voilà revenus vers Toi, repentis.» Et (Allah) dit: «Je ferai que Mon châtiment atteigne qui Je veux. Et Ma miséricorde embrasse toute chose. Je la prescrirai à ceux qui (Me) craignent, acquittent la Zakât, et ont foi en Nos signes

And decree for us in this world [that which is] good and [also] in the Hereafter; indeed, we have turned back to You." [Allah] said, "My punishment - I afflict with it whom I will, but My mercy encompasses all things." So I will decree it [especially] for those who fear Me and give zakah and those who believe in Our verses

اَ۬لذِينَ يَتَّبِعُونَ اَ۬لرَّسُولَ اَ۬لنَّبِےٓءَ اَ۬لُامِّيَّ اَ۬لذِے يَجِدُونَهُۥ مَكْتُوباً عِندَهُمْ فِے اِ۬لتَّوْر۪يٰةِ وَالِانجِيلِ يَامُرُهُم بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَنْه۪يٰهُمْ عَنِ اِ۬لْمُنكَرِ وَيُحِلُّ لَهُمُ اُ۬لطَّيِّبَٰتِ وَيُحَرِّمُ عَلَيْهِمُ اُ۬لْخَبَٰٓئِثَ وَيَضَعُ عَنْهُمُۥٓ إِصْرَهُمْ وَالَاغْلَٰلَ اَ۬لتِے كَانَتْ عَلَيْهِمْۖ فَالذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ بِهِۦ وَعَزَّرُوهُ وَنَصَرُوهُ وَاتَّبَعُواْ اُ۬لنُّورَ اَ۬لذِےٓ أُنزِلَ مَعَهُۥٓ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ اُ۬لْمُفْلِحُونَۖ ﲜ

Alladhîna yattabi‘ûna rrasûla nnabî'a lummiyya lladhî yajidûnahû maktûban ‘indahum fî ttawrêti walinjîli yâmuruhum bilma‘rûfi wayanhêhum ‘ani lmunkari wayuhillu lahumu ttayyibâti wayuharrimu ‘alayhimu lkhabâ'itha wayada‘u ‘anhumû israhum walaghlâla llatî kânat ‘alayhim falladhîna âmanû bihî wa‘azzarûhu wanasarûhu wattaba‘û nnûra lladhî unzila ma‘ahû ulâ'ika humu lmuflihûn

Ceux qui suivent le Messager, le Prophète illettré qu'ils trouvent écrit (mentionné) chez eux dans la Thora et l'Evangile. Il leur ordonne le convenable, leur défend le blâmable, leur rend licites les bonnes choses, leur interdit les mauvaises, et leur ôte le fardeau et les jougs qui étaient sur eux. Ceux qui croiront en lui, le soutiendront, lui porteront secours et suivront la lumière descendue avec lui; ceux-là seront les gagnants

Those who follow the Messenger, the unlettered prophet, whom they find written in what they have of the Torah and the Gospel, who enjoins upon them what is right and forbids them what is wrong and makes lawful for them the good things and prohibits for them the evil and relieves them of their burden and the shackles which were upon them. So they who have believed in him, honored him, supported him and followed the light which was sent down with him - it is those who will be the successful

قُلْ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا اَ۬لنَّاسُ إِنِّے رَسُولُ اُ۬للَّهِ إِلَيْكُمْ جَمِيعاً اِ۬لذِے لَهُۥ مُلْكُ اُ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالَارْضِۖ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَۖ يُحْيِۦ وَيُمِيتُۖ فَـَٔامِنُواْ بِاللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ اِ۬لنَّبِےٓءِ اِ۬لُامِّيِّ اِ۬لذِے يُومِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَكَلِمَٰتِهِۦۖ وَاتَّبِعُوهُ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَهْتَدُونَۖ ﲝ

Qul yâ'ayyuhâ nnâsu innî rasûlu llâhi ilaykum jamî‘ani lladhî lahû mulku ssamâwâti walardi lâ ilâha illâ huwa yuhyî wayumîtu fa'âminû billâhi warasûlihi nnabî'i lummiyyi lladhî yûminu billâhi wakalimâtihî wattabi‘ûhu la‘allakum tahtadûn

Dis: «O hommes! Je suis pour vous tous le Messager d'Allah, à Qui appartient la royauté des cieux et de la terre. Pas de divinité à part Lui. Il donne la vie et Il donne la mort. Croyez donc en Allah, en Son messager, le Prophète illettré qui croit en Allah et en Ses paroles. Et suivez-le afin que vous soyez bien guidés»

Say, [O Muhammad], "O mankind, indeed I am the Messenger of Allah to you all, [from Him] to whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. There is no deity except Him; He gives life and causes death." So believe in Allah and His Messenger, the unlettered prophet, who believes in Allah and His words, and follow him that you may be guided

وَمِن قَوْمِ مُوس۪ىٰٓ أُمَّةٞ يَهْدُونَ بِالْحَقِّ وَبِهِۦ يَعْدِلُونَۖ ﲞ

Wamin qawmi mûsê ummatun yahdûna bilhaqqi wabihî ya‘dilûn

Parmi le peuple de Moïse, il est une communauté qui guide (les autres) avec la vérité, et qui, par là, exerce la justice

And among the people of Moses is a community which guides by truth and by it establishes justice

وَقَطَّعْنَٰهُمُ اُ۪ثْنَتَےْ عَشْرَةَ أَسْبَاطاً ا۟مَماٗۖ وَأَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَىٰ مُوس۪ىٰٓ إِذِ اِ۪سْتَسْق۪يٰهُ قَوْمُهُۥٓ أَنِ اِ۪ضْرِب بِّعَصَاكَ اَ۬لْحَجَرَۖ فَانۢبَجَسَتْ مِنْهُ اُ۪ثْنَتَا عَشْرَةَ عَيْناٗۖ قَدْ عَلِمَ كُلُّ أُنَاسٖ مَّشْرَبَهُمْۖ وَظَلَّلْنَا عَلَيْهِمُ اُ۬لْغَمَٰمَ وَأَنزَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمُ اُ۬لْمَنَّ وَالسَّلْو۪ىٰۖ كُلُواْ مِن طَيِّبَٰتِ مَا رَزَقْنَٰكُمْۖ وَمَا ظَلَمُونَاۖ وَلَٰكِن كَانُوٓاْ أَنفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُونَۖ ﲟ

Waqatta‘nâhumu thnatay ‘ashrata asbâtan umaman wa'awhaynâ ilâ mûsê idhi stasqêhu qawmuhû ani drib bi‘asâka lhajara fâmbajasat minhu thnatâ ‘ashrata ‘aynan qad ‘alima kullu unâsim mashrabahum wazallalnâ ‘alayhimu lghamâma wa'anzalnâ ‘alayhimu lmanna wassalwê kulû min tayyibâti mâ razaqnâkum wamâ zalamûnâ walâkin kânû anfusahum yazlimûn

Nous les répartîmes en douze tribus, (en douze) communautés. Et Nous révélâmes à Moïse, lorsque son peuple lui demanda de l'eau: «Frappe le rocher avec ton bâton.» Et voilà qu'en jaillirent douze sources. Chaque tribu sut son abreuvoir. Nous les couvrîmes de l'ombre du nuage, et fîmes descendre sur eux la manne et les cailles: «Mangez des bonnes choses que Nous vous avons attribuées.» Et ce n'est pas à Nous qu'ils ont fait du tort, mais c'est à eux-mêmes qu'ils en faisaient

And We divided them into twelve descendant tribes [as distinct] nations. And We inspired to Moses when his people implored him for water, "Strike with your staff the stone," and there gushed forth from it twelve springs. Every people knew its watering place. And We shaded them with clouds and sent down upon them manna and quails, [saying], "Eat from the good things with which We have provided you." And they wronged Us not, but they were [only] wronging themselves

وَإِذْ قِيلَ لَهُمُ اُ۟سْكُنُواْ هَٰذِهِ اِ۬لْقَرْيَةَ وَكُلُواْ مِنْهَا حَيْثُ شِئْتُمْ وَقُولُواْ حِطَّةٞ وَادْخُلُواْ اُ۬لْبَابَ سُجَّداٗ تُغْفَرْ لَكُمْ خَطِيٓـَٰٔتُكُمْۖ سَنَزِيدُ اُ۬لْمُحْسِنِينَۖ ﲠ

Wa'idh qîla lahumu skunû hâdhihi lqaryata wakulû minhâ haythu shî'tum waqûlû hittatun wadkhulû lbâba sujjadan tughfar lakum khatî'âtukum sanazîdu lmuhsinîn

Et lorsqu'il leur fut dit: «Habitez cette cité et mangez [de ses produits] à votre guise, mais dites: rémission [à nos péchés] et entrez par la porte en vous prosternant. Nous vous pardonnerons vos fautes; et aux bienfaisants (d'entre vous,) Nous accorderons davantage»

And [mention, O Muhammad], when it was said to them, "Dwell in this city and eat from it wherever you will and say, 'Relieve us of our burdens,' and enter the gate bowing humbly; We will [then] forgive you your sins. We will increase the doers of good [in goodness and reward]

فَبَدَّلَ اَ۬لذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ مِنْهُمْ قَوْلاً غَيْرَ اَ۬لذِے قِيلَ لَهُمْ فَأَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمْ رِجْزاٗ مِّنَ اَ۬لسَّمَآءِ بِمَا كَانُواْ يَظْلِمُونَۖ ﲡ

Fabaddala lladhîna zalamû minhum qawlan ghayra lladhî qîla lahum fa'arsalnâ ‘alayhim rijzam mina ssamâ'i bimâ kânû yazlimûn

Puis, les injustes parmi eux changèrent en une autre, la parole qui leur était dite. Alors, Nous envoyâmes du ciel un châtiment sur eux, pour le méfait qu'ils avaient commis

But those who wronged among them changed [the words] to a statement other than that which had been said to them. So We sent upon them a punishment from the sky for the wrong that they were doing

۞ وَسْـَٔلْهُمْ عَنِ اِ۬لْقَرْيَةِ اِ۬لتِے كَانَتْ حَاضِرَةَ اَ۬لْبَحْرِ إِذْ يَعْدُونَ فِے اِ۬لسَّبْتِ إِذْ تَاتِيهِمْ حِيتَانُهُمْ يَوْمَ سَبْتِهِمْ شُرَّعاٗ وَيَوْمَ لَا يَسْبِتُونَ لَا تَاتِيهِمْۖ كَذَٰلِكَ نَبْلُوهُم بِمَا كَانُواْ يَفْسُقُونَۖ ﲢ

Was'alhum ‘ani lqaryati llatî kânat hâdirata lbahri idh ya‘dûna fî ssabti idh tâtîhim hîtânuhum yawma sabtihim shurra‘an wayawma lâ yasbitûna lâ tâtîhim kadhâlika nablûhum bimâ kânû yafsuqûn

Et interroge-les au sujet de la cité qui donnait sur la mer, lorsqu'on y transgressait le Sabbat! Que leurs poissons venaient à eux faisant surface, au jour de leur Sabbat, et ne venaient pas à eux le jour où ce n'était pas Sabbat! Ainsi les éprouvions-Nous pour la perversité qu'ils commettaient

And ask them about the town that was by the sea - when they transgressed in [the matter of] the sabbath - when their fish came to them openly on their sabbath day, and the day they had no sabbath they did not come to them. Thus did We give them trial because they were defiantly disobedient

وَإِذْ قَالَتُ ا۟مَّةٞ مِّنْهُمْ لِمَ تَعِظُونَ قَوْماً اِ۬للَّهُ مُهْلِكُهُمُۥٓ أَوْ مُعَذِّبُهُمْ عَذَاباٗ شَدِيداٗۖ قَالُواْ مَعْذِرَةٌ اِلَىٰ رَبِّكُمْ وَلَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَّقُونَۖ ﲣ

Wa'idh qâlatu ummatum minhum lima ta‘izûna qawmani llâhu muhlikuhumû aw mu‘adhdhibuhum ‘adhâban shadîdan qâlû ma‘dhiratuni lâ rabbikum wala‘allahum yattaqûn

Et quand parmi eux une communauté dit: «Pourquoi exhortez-vous un peuple qu'Allah va anéantir ou châtier d'un châtiment sévère?» Ils répondirent: «Pour dégager notre responsabilité vis-à-vis de votre Seigneur; et que peut-être ils deviendront pieux!»

And when a community among them said, "Why do you advise [or warn] a people whom Allah is [about] to destroy or to punish with a severe punishment?" they [the advisors] said, "To be absolved before your Lord and perhaps they may fear Him

فَلَمَّا نَسُواْ مَا ذُكِّرُواْ بِهِۦٓ أَنجَيْنَا اَ۬لذِينَ يَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ اِ۬لسُّوٓءِ وَأَخَذْنَا اَ۬لذِينَ ظَلَمُواْ بِعَذَابِۢ بِيسِۢ بِمَا كَانُواْ يَفْسُقُونَۖ ﲤ

Falammâ nasû mâ dhukkirû bihî anjaynâ lladhîna yanhawna ‘ani ssû'i wa'akhadhnâ lladhîna zalamû bi‘adhâbim bîsim bimâ kânû yafsuqûn

Puis, lorsqu'ils oublièrent ce qu'on leur avait rappelé, Nous sauvâmes ceux qui (leur) avaient interdit le mal et saisîmes par un châtiment rigoureux les injustes pour leurs actes pervers

And when they forgot that by which they had been reminded, We saved those who had forbidden evil and seized those who wronged, with a wretched punishment, because they were defiantly disobeying

فَلَمَّا عَتَوْاْ عَن مَّا نُهُواْ عَنْهُ قُلْنَا لَهُمْ كُونُواْ قِرَدَةً خَٰسِـِٕينَۖ ﲥ

Falammâ ‘ataw ‘am mâ nuhû ‘anhu qulnâ lahum kûnû qiradatan khâsi'în

Puis, lorsqu'ils refusèrent (par orgueil) d'abandonner ce qui leur avait été interdit, Nous leur dîmes: «Soyez des singes abjects»

So when they were insolent about that which they had been forbidden, We said to them, "Be apes, despised

وَإِذْ تَأَذَّنَ رَبُّكَ لَيَبْعَثَنَّ عَلَيْهِمُۥٓ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ اِ۬لْقِيَٰمَةِ مَنْ يَّسُومُهُمْ سُوٓءَ اَ۬لْعَذَابِۖ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَسَرِيعُ اُ۬لْعِقَابِۖ وَإِنَّهُۥ لَغَفُورٞ رَّحِيمٞۖ ﲦ

Wa'idh ta'adhdhana rabbuka layab‘athanna ‘alayhimû ilâ yawmi lqiyâmati may yasûmuhum sû'a l‘adhâbi inna rabbaka lasarî‘u l‘iqâbi wa'innahû laghafûrur rahîm

Et lorsque ton Seigneur annonça qu'Il enverra certes contre eux quelqu'un qui leur imposera le pire châtiment jusqu'au Jour de la Résurrection. En vérité ton Seigneur est prompt à punir mais Il est aussi Pardonneur et Miséricordieux

And [mention] when your Lord declared that He would surely [continue to] send upon them until the Day of Resurrection those who would afflict them with the worst torment. Indeed, your Lord is swift in penalty; but indeed, He is Forgiving and Merciful

وَقَطَّعْنَٰهُمْ فِے اِ۬لَارْضِ أُمَماٗۖ مِّنْهُمُ اُ۬لصَّٰلِحُونَۖ وَمِنْهُمْ دُونَ ذَٰلِكَۖ وَبَلَوْنَٰهُم بِالْحَسَنَٰتِ وَالسَّيِّـَٔاتِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَۖ ﲧ

Waqatta‘nâhum fî lardi umamam minhumu ssâlihûna waminhum dûna dhâlika wabalawnâhum bilhasanâti wassayyi'âti la‘allahum yarji‘ûn

Et Nous les avons répartis en communautés sur la terre. Il y a parmi eux des gens de bien, mais il y en a qui le sont moins. Nous les avons éprouvés par des biens et par des maux, peut-être reviendraient-ils (au droit chemin)

And We divided them throughout the earth into nations. Of them some were righteous, and of them some were otherwise. And We tested them with good [times] and bad that perhaps they would return [to obedience]

فَخَلَفَ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِمْ خَلْفٞ وَرِثُواْ اُ۬لْكِتَٰبَ يَاخُذُونَ عَرَضَ هَٰذَا اَ۬لَادْن۪ىٰ وَيَقُولُونَ سَيُغْفَرُ لَنَا وَإِنْ يَّاتِهِمْ عَرَضٞ مِّثْلُهُۥ يَاخُذُوهُۖ أَلَمْ يُوخَذْ عَلَيْهِم مِّيثَٰقُ اُ۬لْكِتَٰبِ أَن لَّا يَقُولُواْ عَلَى اَ۬للَّهِ إِلَّا اَ۬لْحَقَّۖ وَدَرَسُواْ مَا فِيهِۖ وَالدَّارُ اُ۬لَاخِرَةُ خَيْرٞ لِّلذِينَ يَتَّقُونَۖ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَۖ ﲨ

Fakhalafa mim ba‘dihim khalfun warithû lkitâba yâkhudhûna ‘arada hâdhâ ladnê wayaqûlûna sayughfaru lanâ wa'iy yâtihim ‘aradum mithluhû yâkhudhûhu alam yûkhadh ‘alayhim mîthâqu lkitâbi al lâ yaqûlû ‘alâ llâhi illâ lhaqqa wadarasû mâ fîhi waddâru lakhiratu khayrul lilladhîna yattaqûna afalâ ta‘qilûn

Puis les suivirent des successeurs qui héritèrent le Livre, mais qui préférèrent ce qu'offre la vie d'ici-bas en disant: «Nous aurons le pardon.» Et si des choses semblables s'offrent à eux, ils les acceptent. N'avait-on pas pris d'eux l'engagement du Livre, qu'ils ne diraient sur Allah que la vérité? Ils avaient pourtant étudié ce qui s'y trouve. Et l'ultime demeure est meilleure pour ceux qui pratiquent la piété, - Ne comprendrez-vous donc pas

And there followed them successors who inherited the Scripture [while] taking the commodities of this lower life and saying, "It will be forgiven for us." And if an offer like it comes to them, they will [again] take it. Was not the covenant of the Scripture taken from them that they would not say about Allah except the truth, and they studied what was in it? And the home of the Hereafter is better for those who fear Allah, so will you not use reason

وَالذِينَ يُمَسِّكُونَ بِالْكِتَٰبِ وَأَقَامُواْ اُ۬لصَّلَوٰةَ إِنَّا لَا نُضِيعُ أَجْرَ اَ۬لْمُصْلِحِينَۖ ﲩ

Walladhîna yumassikûna bilkitâbi wa'aqâmû ssalawâta innâ lâ nudî‘u ajra lmuslihîn

Et ceux qui se conforment au Livre et accomplissent laSalât, [en vérité], Nous ne laissons pas perdre la récompense de ceux qui s'amendent

But those who hold fast to the Book and establish prayer - indeed, We will not allow to be lost the reward of the reformers

۞ وَإِذْ نَتَقْنَا اَ۬لْجَبَلَ فَوْقَهُمْ كَأَنَّهُۥ ظُلَّةٞ وَظَنُّوٓاْ أَنَّهُۥ وَاقِعُۢ بِهِمْۖ خُذُواْ مَآ ءَاتَيْنَٰكُم بِقُوَّةٖ وَاذْكُرُواْ مَا فِيهِ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَتَّقُونَۖ ﲪ

Wa'idh nataqnâ ljabala fawqahum ka'annahû zullatun wazannû annahû wâqi‘um bihim khudhû mâ âtaynâkum biquwwatin wadhkurû mâ fîhi la‘allakum tattaqûn

Et lorsque Nous avons brandi au-dessus d'eux le Mont, comme si c'eût été une ombrelle. Ils pensaient qu'il allait tomber sur eux. «Tenez fermement à ce que Nous vous donnons et rappelez-vous son contenu. Peut-être craindrez vous Allah»

And [mention] when We raised the mountain above them as if it was a dark cloud and they were certain that it would fall upon them, [and Allah said], "Take what We have given you with determination and remember what is in it that you might fear Allah

وَإِذَ اَخَذَ رَبُّكَ مِنۢ بَنِےٓ ءَادَمَ مِن ظُهُورِهِمْ ذُرِّيَّٰتِهِمْ وَأَشْهَدَهُمْ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِهِمُۥٓ أَلَسْتُ بِرَبِّكُمْ قَالُواْ بَل۪ىٰۖ شَهِدْنَآ أَن تَقُولُواْ يَوْمَ اَ۬لْقِيَٰمَةِ إِنَّا كُنَّا عَنْ هَٰذَا غَٰفِلِينَ ﲫ

Wa'idha khadha rabbuka mim banî âdama min zuhûrihim dhurriyyâtihim wa'ashhadahum ‘alâ anfusihimû alastu birabbikum qâlû balê shahidnâ an taqûlû yawma lqiyâmati innâ kunnâ ‘an hâdhâ ghâfilîn

Et quand ton Seigneur tira une descendance des reins des fils d'Adam et les fit témoigner sur eux-mêmes: «Ne suis-Je pas votre Seigneur?» Ils répondirent: «Mais si, nous en témoignons...» - afin que vous ne disiez point, au Jour de la Résurrection: «Vraiment, nous n'y avons pas fait attention»

And [mention] when your Lord took from the children of Adam - from their loins - their descendants and made them testify of themselves, [saying to them], "Am I not your Lord?" They said, "Yes, we have testified." [This] - lest you should say on the day of Resurrection, "Indeed, we were of this unaware

أَوْ تَقُولُوٓاْ إِنَّمَآ أَشْرَكَ ءَابَآؤُنَا مِن قَبْلُ وَكُنَّا ذُرِّيَّةٗ مِّنۢ بَعْدِهِمُۥٓۖ أَفَتُهْلِكُنَا بِمَا فَعَلَ اَ۬لْمُبْطِلُونَۖ ﲬ

Aw taqûlû innamâ ashraka âbâ'unâ min qablu wakunnâ dhurriyyatam mim ba‘dihimû afatuhlikunâ bimâ fa‘ala lmubtilûn

ou que vous auriez dit (tout simplement): «Nos ancêtres autrefois donnaient des associés à Allah, et nous sommes leurs descendants, après eux. Vas-Tu nous détruire pour ce qu'ont fait les imposteurs?»

Or [lest] you say, "It was only that our fathers associated [others in worship] with Allah before, and we were but descendants after them. Then would You destroy us for what the falsifiers have done

وَكَذَٰلِكَ نُفَصِّلُ اُ۬لَايَٰتِ وَلَعَلَّهُمْ يَرْجِعُونَۖ ﲭ

Wakadhâlika nufassilu layâti wala‘allahum yarji‘ûn

Et c'est ainsi que Nous expliquons intelligemment les signes. Peut-être reviendront-ils

And thus do We [explain in] detail the verses, and perhaps they will return

وَاتْلُ عَلَيْهِمْ نَبَأَ اَ۬لذِےٓ ءَاتَيْنَٰهُ ءَايَٰتِنَا فَانسَلَخَ مِنْهَا فَأَتْبَعَهُ اُ۬لشَّيْطَٰنُ فَكَانَ مِنَ اَ۬لْغَاوِينَۖ ﲮ

Watlu ‘alayhim naba'a lladhî âtaynâhu âyâtinâ fânsalakha minhâ fa'atba‘ahu shshaytânu fakâna mina lghâwîn

Et raconte-leur l'histoire de celui à qui Nous avions donné Nos signes et qui s'en écarta. Le Diable, donc, l'entraîna dans sa suite et il devint ainsi du nombre des égarés

And recite to them, [O Muhammad], the news of him to whom we gave [knowledge of] Our signs, but he detached himself from them; so Satan pursued him, and he became of the deviators

وَلَوْ شِئْنَا لَرَفَعْنَٰهُ بِهَا وَلَٰكِنَّهُۥٓ أَخْلَدَ إِلَى اَ۬لَارْضِ وَاتَّبَعَ هَو۪يٰهُۖ فَمَثَلُهُۥ كَمَثَلِ اِ۬لْكَلْبِ إِن تَحْمِلْ عَلَيْهِ يَلْهَثَ اَوْ تَتْرُكْهُ يَلْهَثْۖ ذَٰلِكَ مَثَلُ اُ۬لْقَوْمِ اِ۬لذِينَ كَذَّبُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَاۖ فَاقْصُصِ اِ۬لْقَصَصَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَفَكَّرُونَۖ ﲯ

Walaw shî'nâ larafa‘nâhu bihâ walâkinnahû akhlada ilâ lardi wattaba‘a hawêhu famathaluhû kamathali lkalbi in tahmil ‘alayhi yalhatha w tatrukhu yalhath dhâlika mathalu lqawmi lladhîna kadhdhabû bi'âyâtinâ faqsusi lqasasa la‘allahum yatafakkarûn

Et si Nous avions voulu, Nous l'aurions élevé par ces mêmes enseignements, mais il s'inclina vers la terre et suivit sa propre passion. Il est semblable à un chien qui halète si tu l'attaques, et qui halète aussi si tu le laisses. Tel est l'exemple des gens qui traitent de mensonges Nos signes. Eh bien, raconte le récit. Peut-être réfléchiront-ils

And if We had willed, we could have elevated him thereby, but he adhered [instead] to the earth and followed his own desire. So his example is like that of the dog: if you chase him, he pants, or if you leave him, he [still] pants. That is the example of the people who denied Our signs. So relate the stories that perhaps they will give thought

سَآءَ مَثَلاً اِ۬لْقَوْمُ اُ۬لذِينَ كَذَّبُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا وَأَنفُسَهُمْ كَانُواْ يَظْلِمُونَۖ ﲰ

Sâ'a mathalani lqawmu lladhîna kadhdhabû bi'âyâtinâ wa'anfusahum kânû yazlimûn

Quel mauvais exemple que ces gens qui traitent de mensonges Nos signes, cependant que c'est à eux-mêmes qu'ils font du tort

How evil an example [is that of] the people who denied Our signs and used to wrong themselves

مَنْ يَّهْدِ اِ۬للَّهُ فَهُوَ اَ۬لْمُهْتَدِےۖ وَمَنْ يُّضْلِلْ فَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ اُ۬لْخَٰسِرُونَۖ ﲱ

May yahdi llâhu fahuwa lmuhtadî wamay yudlil fa'ulâ'ika humu lkhâsirûn

Quiconque Allah guide, voilà le bien guidé. Et quiconque Il égare, voilà les perdants

Whoever Allah guides - he is the [rightly] guided; and whoever He sends astray - it is those who are the losers

۞ وَلَقَدْ ذَرَأْنَا لِجَهَنَّمَ كَثِيراٗ مِّنَ اَ۬لْجِنِّ وَالِانسِۖ لَهُمْ قُلُوبٞ لَّا يَفْقَهُونَ بِهَاۖ وَلَهُمُۥٓ أَعْيُنٞ لَّا يُبْصِرُونَ بِهَاۖ وَلَهُمُۥٓ ءَاذَانٞ لَّا يَسْمَعُونَ بِهَآۖ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ كَالَانْعَٰمِ بَلْ هُمُۥٓ أَضَلُّۖ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ اُ۬لْغَٰفِلُونَۖ ﲲ

Walaqad dhara'nâ lijahannama kathîram mina ljinni walinsi lahum qulûbul lâ yafqahûna bihâ walahumû a‘yunul lâ yubsirûna bihâ walahumû âdhânul lâ yasma‘ûna bihâ ulâ'ika kalan‘âmi bal humû adallu ulâ'ika humu lghâfilûn

Nous avons destiné beaucoup de djinns et d'hommes pour l'Enfer. Ils ont des cœurs, mais ne comprennent pas. Ils ont des yeux, mais ne voient pas. Ils ont des oreilles, mais n'entendent pas. Ceux-là sont comme les bestiaux, même plus égarés encore. Tels sont les insouciants

And We have certainly created for Hell many of the jinn and mankind. They have hearts with which they do not understand, they have eyes with which they do not see, and they have ears with which they do not hear. Those are like livestock; rather, they are more astray. It is they who are the heedless

وَلِلهِ اِ۬لَاسْمَآءُ اُ۬لْحُسْن۪ىٰ فَادْعُوهُ بِهَاۖ وَذَرُواْ اُ۬لذِينَ يُلْحِدُونَ فِےٓ أَسْمَٰٓئِهِۦۖ سَيُجْزَوْنَ مَا كَانُواْ يَعْمَلُونَۖ ﲳ

Walillâhi lasmâ'u lhusnê fad‘ûhu bihâ wadharû lladhîna yulhidûna fî asmâ'ihî sayujzawna mâ kânû ya‘malûn

C'est à Allah qu'appartiennent les noms les plus beaux. Invoquez-Le par ces noms et laissez ceux qui profanent Ses noms: ils seront rétribués pour ce qu'ils ont fait

And to Allah belong the best names, so invoke Him by them. And leave [the company of] those who practice deviation concerning His names. They will be recompensed for what they have been doing

وَمِمَّنْ خَلَقْنَآ أُمَّةٞ يَهْدُونَ بِالْحَقِّ وَبِهِۦ يَعْدِلُونَۖ ﲴ

Wamimman khalaqnâ ummatun yahdûna bilhaqqi wabihî ya‘dilûn

Parmi ceux que Nous avons créés, il y a une communauté qui guide (les autres) selon la vérité et par celle-ci exerce la justice

And among those We created is a community which guides by truth and thereby establishes justice

وَالذِينَ كَذَّبُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا سَنَسْتَدْرِجُهُم مِّنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ ﲵ

Walladhîna kadhdhabû bi'âyâtinâ sanastadrijuhum min haythu lâ ya‘lamûn

Ceux qui traitent de mensonges Nos enseignements, Nous allons les conduire graduellement vers leur perte par des voies qu'ils ignorent

But those who deny Our signs - We will progressively lead them [to destruction] from where they do not know

وَأُمْلِے لَهُمُۥٓۖ إِنَّ كَيْدِے مَتِينٌۖ ﲶ

Wa'umlî lahumû inna kaydî matîn

Et Je leur accorderai un délai, car Mon stratagème est solide

And I will give them time. Indeed, my plan is firm

اَوَلَمْ يَتَفَكَّرُواْۖ مَا بِصَٰحِبِهِم مِّن جِنَّةٍۖ اِنْ هُوَ إِلَّا نَذِيرٞ مُّبِينٌۖ ﲷ

Awalam yatafakkarû mâ bisâhibihim min jinnatini n huwa illâ nadhîrum mubîn

Est-ce qu'ils n'ont pas réfléchi? Il n'y a point de folie en leur compagnon (Muhammad): il n'est qu'un avertisseur explicite

Then do they not give thought? There is in their companion [Muhammad] no madness. He is not but a clear warner

اَوَلَمْ يَنظُرُواْ فِے مَلَكُوتِ اِ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالَارْضِ وَمَا خَلَقَ اَ۬للَّهُ مِن شَےْءٖ وَأَنْ عَس۪ىٰٓ أَنْ يَّكُونَ قَدِ اِ۪قْتَرَبَ أَجَلُهُمْۖ فَبِأَيِّ حَدِيثِۢ بَعْدَهُۥ يُومِنُونَۖ ﲸ

Awalam yanzurû fî malakûti ssamâwâti walardi wamâ khalaqa llâhu min shay'in wa'an ‘asê ay yakûna qadi qtaraba ajaluhum fabi'ayyi hadîthim ba‘dahû yûminûn

N'ont-ils pas médité sur le royaume des cieux et de la terre, et toute chose qu'Allah a créée, et que leur terme est peut-être déjà proche? En quelle parole croiront-ils après cela

Do they not look into the realm of the heavens and the earth and everything that Allah has created and [think] that perhaps their appointed time has come near? So in what statement hereafter will they believe

مَنْ يُّضْلِلِ اِ۬للَّهُ فَلَا هَادِيَ لَهُۥۖ وَنَذَرُهُمْ فِے طُغْيَٰنِهِمْ يَعْمَهُونَۖ ﲹ

May yudlili llâhu falâ hâdiya lahû wanadharuhum fî tughyânihim ya‘mahûn

Quiconque Allah égare, pas de guide pour lui. Et Il les laisse dans leur transgression confus et hésitants

Whoever Allah sends astray - there is no guide for him. And He leaves them in their transgression, wandering blindly

يَسْـَٔلُونَكَ عَنِ اِ۬لسَّاعَةِ أَيَّانَ مُرْس۪يٰهَاۖ قُلِ اِنَّمَا عِلْمُهَا عِندَ رَبِّےۖ لَا يُجَلِّيهَا لِوَقْتِهَآ إِلَّا هُوَۖ ثَقُلَتْ فِے اِ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالَارْضِۖ لَا تَاتِيكُمُۥٓ إِلَّا بَغْتَةٗۖ يَسْـَٔلُونَكَ كَأَنَّكَ حَفِيٌّ عَنْهَاۖ قُلِ اِنَّمَا عِلْمُهَا عِندَ اَ۬للَّهِۖ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ اَ۬لنَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُونَۖ ﲺ

Yas'alûnaka ‘ani ssâ‘ati ayyâna mursêhâ quli nnamâ ‘ilmuhâ ‘inda rabbî lâ yujallîhâ liwaqtihâ illâ huwa thaqulat fî ssamâwâti walardi lâ tâtîkumû illâ baghtatan yas'alûnaka ka'annaka hafiyyun ‘anhâ quli nnamâ ‘ilmuhâ ‘inda llâhi walâkinna akthara nnâsi lâ ya‘lamûn

Ils t'interrogent sur l'Heure: «Quand arrivera-t-elle?» Dis: «Seul mon Seigneur en a connaissance. Lui seul la manifestera en son temps. Lourde elle sera dans les cieux et (sur) la terre et elle ne viendra à vous que soudainement.» Ils t'interrogent comme si tu en étais averti. Dis: «Seul Allah en a connaissance.» Mais beaucoup de gens ne savent pas

They ask you, [O Muhammad], about the Hour: when is its arrival? Say, "Its knowledge is only with my Lord. None will reveal its time except Him. It lays heavily upon the heavens and the earth. It will not come upon you except unexpectedly." They ask you as if you are familiar with it. Say, "Its knowledge is only with Allah, but most of the people do not know

۞ قُل لَّآ أَمْلِكُ لِنَفْسِے نَفْعاٗ وَلَا ضَرّاً اِلَّا مَا شَآءَ اَ۬للَّهُۖ وَلَوْ كُنتُ أَعْلَمُ اُ۬لْغَيْبَ لَاسْتَكْثَرْتُ مِنَ اَ۬لْخَيْرِۖ وَمَا مَسَّنِيَ اَ۬لسُّوٓءُۖ اِ۪نَ اَنَا إِلَّا نَذِيرٞۖ وَبَشِيرٞ لِّقَوْمٖ يُومِنُونَۖ ﲻ

Qul lâ amliku linafsî naf‘an walâ darrani llâ mâ shâ'a llâhu walaw kuntu a‘lamu lghayba lastakthartu mina lkhayri wamâ massaniya ssû'u na nâ illâ nadhîrun wabashîrul liqawmin yûminûn

Dis: «Je ne détiens pour moi-même ni profit ni dommage, sauf ce qu'Allah veut. Et si je connaissais l'Inconnaissable, j'aurais eu des biens en abondance et aucun mal ne m'aurait touché. Je ne suis, pour les gens qui croient, qu'un avertisseur et un annonciateur»

Say, "I hold not for myself [the power of] benefit or harm, except what Allah has willed. And if I knew the unseen, I could have acquired much wealth, and no harm would have touched me. I am not except a warner and a bringer of good tidings to a people who believe

هُوَ اَ۬لذِے خَلَقَكُم مِّن نَّفْسٖ وَٰحِدَةٖ وَجَعَلَ مِنْهَا زَوْجَهَا لِيَسْكُنَ إِلَيْهَاۖ فَلَمَّا تَغَشّ۪يٰهَا حَمَلَتْ حَمْلاً خَفِيفاٗ فَمَرَّتْ بِهِۦۖ فَلَمَّآ أَثْقَلَت دَّعَوَا اَ۬للَّهَ رَبَّهُمَا لَئِنَ اٰتَيْتَنَا صَٰلِحاٗ لَّنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ اَ۬لشَّٰكِرِينَۖ ﲼ

Huwa lladhî khalaqakum min nafsin wâhidatin waja‘ala minhâ zawjahâ liyaskuna ilayhâ falammâ taghashshêhâ hamalat hamlan khafîfan famarrat bihî falammâ athqalat da‘awâ llâha rabbahumâ la'ina âtaytanâ sâlihal lanakûnanna mina shshâkirîn

C'est Lui qui vous a créés d'un seul être dont il a tiré son épouse, pour qu'il trouve de la tranquillité auprès d'elle; et lorsque celui-ci eut cohabité avec elle, elle conçut une légère grossesse, avec quoi elle se déplaçait (facilement). Puis lorsqu'elle se trouva alourdie, tous deux invoquèrent leur Seigneur: «Si Tu nous donnes un (enfant) sain, nous serons certainement du nombre des reconnaissants»

It is He who created you from one soul and created from it its mate that he might dwell in security with her. And when he covers her, she carries a light burden and continues therein. And when it becomes heavy, they both invoke Allah, their Lord, "If You should give us a good [child], we will surely be among the grateful

فَلَمَّآ ءَات۪يٰهُمَا صَٰلِحاٗ جَعَلَا لَهُۥ شِرْكاٗ فِيمَآ ءَات۪يٰهُمَاۖ فَتَعَٰلَى اَ۬للَّهُ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَۖ ﲽ

Falammâ âtêhumâ sâlihan ja‘alâ lahû shirkan fîmâ âtêhumâ fata‘âlâ llâhu ‘ammâ yushrikûn

Puis, lorsqu'Il leur eût donné un (enfant) sain, tous deux assignèrent à Allah des associés en ce qu'Il leur avait donné. Mais Allah est bien au-dessus des associés qu'on Lui assigne

But when He gives them a good [child], they ascribe partners to Him concerning that which He has given them. Exalted is Allah above what they associate with Him

أَيُشْرِكُونَ مَا لَا يَخْلُقُ شَئْاٗ وَهُمْ يُخْلَقُونَۖ ﲾ

Ayushrikûna mâ lâ yakhluqu shay'an wahum yukhlaqûn

Est-ce qu'ils assignent comme associés ce qui ne crée rien et qui eux-mêmes sont créés

Do they associate with Him those who create nothing and they are [themselves] created

وَلَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ لَهُمْ نَصْراٗ وَلَآ أَنفُسَهُمْ يَنصُرُونَۖ ﲿ

Walâ yastatî‘ûna lahum nasran walâ anfusahum yansurûn

et qui ne peuvent ni les secourir ni se secourir eux-mêmes

And the false deities are unable to [give] them help, nor can they help themselves

وَإِن تَدْعُوهُمُۥٓ إِلَى اَ۬لْهُد۪ىٰ لَا يَتْبَعُوكُمْۖ سَوَآءٌ عَلَيْكُمُۥٓ أَدَعَوْتُمُوهُمُۥٓ أَمَ اَنتُمْ صَٰمِتُونَۖ ﳀ

Wa'in tad‘ûhumû ilâ lhudê lâ yatba‘ûkum sawâ'un ‘alaykumû ada‘awtumûhumû ama ntum sâmitûn

Si vous les appelez vers le chemin droit, ils ne vous suivront pas. Le résultat pour vous est le même, que vous les appeliez ou que vous gardiez le silence

And if you [believers] invite them to guidance, they will not follow you. It is all the same for you whether you invite them or you are silent

إِنَّ اَ۬لذِينَ تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ اِ۬للَّهِ عِبَادٌ اَمْثَالُكُمْۖ فَادْعُوهُمْ فَلْيَسْتَجِيبُواْ لَكُمُۥٓ إِن كُنتُمْ صَٰدِقِينَۖ ﳁ

Inna lladhîna tad‘ûna min dûni llâhi ‘ibâduna mthâlukum fad‘ûhum falyastajîbû lakumû in kuntum sâdiqîn

Ceux que vous invoquez en dehors d'Allah sont des serviteurs comme vous. Invoquez-les donc et qu'ils vous répondent, si vous êtes véridiques

Indeed, those you [polytheists] call upon besides Allah are servants like you. So call upon them and let them respond to you, if you should be truthful

أَلَهُمُۥٓ أَرْجُلٞ يَمْشُونَ بِهَآۖ أَمْ لَهُمُۥٓ أَيْدٖ يَبْطِشُونَ بِهَآۖ أَمْ لَهُمُۥٓ أَعْيُنٞ يُبْصِرُونَ بِهَآۖ أَمْ لَهُمُۥٓ ءَاذَانٞ يَسْمَعُونَ بِهَاۖ قُلُ اُ۟دْعُواْ شُرَكَآءَكُمْ ثُمَّ كِيدُونِ فَلَا تُنظِرُونِۖ ﳂ

Alahumû arjulun yamshûna bihâ am lahumû aydin yabtishûna bihâ am lahumû a‘yunun yubsirûna bihâ am lahumû âdhânun yasma‘ûna bihâ qulu d‘û shurakâ'akum thumma kîdûni falâ tunzirûn

Ont-ils des jambes pour marcher? Ont-ils de mains pour frapper? Ont-ils des yeux pour observer? Ont-ils des oreilles pour entendre? Dis: «Invoquez vos associés, et puis, rusez contre moi; et ne me donnez pas de répit

Do they have feet by which they walk? Or do they have hands by which they strike? Or do they have eyes by which they see? Or do they have ears by which they hear? Say, [O Muhammad], "Call your 'partners' and then conspire against me and give me no respite

إِنَّ وَلِيِّيَ اَ۬للَّهُ اُ۬لذِے نَزَّلَ اَ۬لْكِتَٰبَۖ وَهُوَ يَتَوَلَّى اَ۬لصَّٰلِحِينَۖ ﳃ

Inna waliyyiya llâhu lladhî nazzala lkitâba wahuwa yatawallâ ssâlihîn

Certes mon Maître, c'est Allah qui a fait descendre le Livre (le Coran). C'est Lui qui se charge (de la protection) des vertueux

Indeed, my protector is Allah, who has sent down the Book; and He is an ally to the righteous

وَالذِينَ تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِهِۦ لَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ نَصْرَكُمْ وَلَآ أَنفُسَهُمْ يَنصُرُونَۖ ﳄ

Walladhîna tad‘ûna min dûnihî lâ yastatî‘ûna nasrakum walâ anfusahum yansurûn

Et ceux que vous invoquez en dehors de Lui ne sont capables ni de vous secourir, ni de se secourir eux-mêmes.»

And those you call upon besides Him are unable to help you, nor can they help themselves

وَإِن تَدْعُوهُمُۥٓ إِلَى اَ۬لْهُد۪ىٰ لَا يَسْمَعُواْۖ وَتَر۪يٰهُمْ يَنظُرُونَ إِلَيْكَ وَهُمْ لَا يُبْصِرُونَۖ ﳅ

Wa'in tad‘ûhumû ilâ lhudê lâ yasma‘û watarêhum yanzurûna ilayka wahum lâ yubsirûn

Et si tu les appelles vers le chemin droit, ils n'entendent pas. Tu les vois qui te regardent, (mais) ils ne voient pas

And if you invite them to guidance, they do not hear; and you see them looking at you while they do not see

خُذِ اِ۬لْعَفْوَۖ وَامُرْ بِالْعُرْفِۖ وَأَعْرِضْ عَنِ اِ۬لْجَٰهِلِينَۖ ﳆ

Khudhi l‘afwa wâmur bil‘urfi wa'a‘rid ‘ani ljâhilîn

Accepte ce qu'on t'offre de raisonnable, commande ce qui est convenable et éloigne-toi des ignorants

Take what is given freely, enjoin what is good, and turn away from the ignorant

۞ وَإِمَّا يَنزَغَنَّكَ مِنَ اَ۬لشَّيْطَٰنِ نَزْغٞ فَاسْتَعِذْ بِاللَّهِۖ إِنَّهُۥ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌۖ ﳇ

Wa'immâ yanzaghannaka mina shshaytâni nazghun fasta‘idh billâhi innahû samî‘un ‘alîm

Et si jamais le Diable t'incite à faire le mal, cherche refuge auprès d'Allah. Car Il entend, et sait tout

And if an evil suggestion comes to you from Satan, then seek refuge in Allah. Indeed, He is Hearing and Knowing

اِنَّ اَ۬لذِينَ اَ۪تَّقَوِاْ اِذَا مَسَّهُمْ طَٰٓئِفٞ مِّنَ اَ۬لشَّيْطَٰنِ تَذَكَّرُواْ فَإِذَا هُم مُّبْصِرُونَۖ ﳈ

Inna lladhîna ttaqawi dhâ massahum tâ'ifum mina shshaytâni tadhakkarû fa'idhâ hum mubsirûn

Ceux qui pratiquent la piété, lorsqu'une suggestion du Diable les touche se rappellent [du châtiment d'Allah]: et les voilà devenus clairvoyants

Indeed, those who fear Allah - when an impulse touches them from Satan, they remember [Him] and at once they have insight

وَإِخْوَٰنُهُمْ يُمِدُّونَهُمْ فِے اِ۬لْغَيِّۖ ثُمَّ لَا يُقْصِرُونَۖ ﳉ

Wa'ikhwânuhum yumiddûnahum fî lghayyi thumma lâ yuqsirûn

(Quant aux méchants), leurs partenaires diaboliques les enfoncent dans l'aberration, puis ils ne cessent (de s'enfoncer)

But their brothers - the devils increase them in error; then they do not stop short

وَإِذَا لَمْ تَاتِهِم بِـَٔايَةٖ قَالُواْ لَوْلَا اَ۪جْتَبَيْتَهَاۖ قُلِ اِنَّمَآ أَتَّبِعُ مَا يُوح۪ىٰٓ إِلَيَّ مِن رَّبِّےۖ هَٰذَا بَصَآئِرُ مِن رَّبِّكُمْ وَهُدىٗ وَرَحْمَةٞ لِّقَوْمٖ يُومِنُونَۖ ﳊ

Wa'idhâ lam tâtihim bi'âyatin qâlû lawlâ jtabaytahâ quli nnamâ attabi‘u mâ yûhê ilayya mir rabbî hâdhâ basâ'iru mir rabbikum wahudan warahmatul liqawmin yûminûn

Quand tu ne leur apportes pas de miracle, ils disent: «Pourquoi ne l'inventes-tu pas?» Dis: «Je ne fais que suivre ce qui m'est révélé de mon Seigneur. Ces [versets coraniques] sont des preuves illuminantes venant de votre Seigneur, un guide et une grâce pour des gens qui croient

And when you, [O Muhammad], do not bring them a sign, they say, "Why have you not contrived it?" Say, "I only follow what is revealed to me from my Lord. This [Qur'an] is enlightenment from your Lord and guidance and mercy for a people who believe

وَإِذَا قُرِۓَ اَ۬لْقُرْءَانُ فَاسْتَمِعُواْ لَهُۥ وَأَنصِتُواْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تُرْحَمُونَۖ ﳋ

Wa'idhâ qurî'a lqur'ânu fastami‘û lahû wa'ansitû la‘allakum turhamûn

Et quand on récite le Coran, prêtez-lui l'oreille attentivement et observez le silence, afin que vous obteniez la miséricorde (d'Allah)

So when the Qur'an is recited, then listen to it and pay attention that you may receive mercy

وَاذْكُر رَّبَّكَ فِے نَفْسِكَ تَضَرُّعاٗ وَخِيفَةٗ وَدُونَ اَ۬لْجَهْرِ مِنَ اَ۬لْقَوْلِ بِالْغُدُوِّ وَالَاصَالِ وَلَا تَكُن مِّنَ اَ۬لْغَٰفِلِينَۖ ﳌ

Wadhkur rabbaka fî nafsika tadarru‘an wakhîfatan wadûna ljahri mina lqawli bilghuduwwi walasâli walâ takum mina lghâfilîn

Et invoque ton Seigneur en toi-même, en humilité et crainte, à mi-voix, le matin et le soir, et ne sois pas du nombre des insouciants

And remember your Lord within yourself in humility and in fear without being apparent in speech - in the mornings and the evenings. And do not be among the heedless

إِنَّ اَ۬لذِينَ عِندَ رَبِّكَ لَا يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ عَنْ عِبَادَتِهِۦ وَيُسَبِّحُونَهُۥ وَلَهُۥ يَسْجُدُونَۖ۩ ﳍ

Inna lladhîna ‘inda rabbika lâ yastakbirûna ‘an ‘ibâdatihî wayusabbihûnahû walahû yasjudûn

Ceux qui sont auprès de ton Seigneur [les anges] ne dédaignent pas de L'adorer. Ils Le glorifient et se prosternent devant Lui

Indeed, those who are near your Lord are not prevented by arrogance from His worship, and they exalt Him, and to Him they prostrate
