ح۪مِٓۖ تَنزِيلُ اُ۬لْكِتَٰبِ مِنَ اَ۬للَّهِ اِ۬لْعَزِيزِ اِ۬لْعَلِيمِ ﰀ

Hâ mîm tanzîlu lkitâbi mina llâhi l‘azîzi l‘alîm

H'â, Mîm La révélation du Livre vient d'Allah, le Puissant, l'Omniscient

Ha, Meem The revelation of the Book is from Allah, the Exalted in Might, the Knowing

غَافِرِ اِ۬لذَّنۢبِ وَقَابِلِ اِ۬لتَّوْبِ شَدِيدِ اِ۬لْعِقَابِ ذِے اِ۬لطَّوْلِۖ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَۖ إِلَيْهِ اِ۬لْمَصِيرُۖ ﰁ

Ghâfiri dhdhambi waqâbili ttawbi shadîdi l‘iqâbi dhî ttawli lâ ilâha illâ huwa ilayhi lmasîr

Le Pardonneur des péchés, l'Accueillant au repentir, le Dur en punition, le Détenteur des faveurs. Point de divinité à part Lui et vers Lui est la destination

The forgiver of sin, acceptor of repentance, severe in punishment, owner of abundance. There is no deity except Him; to Him is the destination

مَا يُجَٰدِلُ فِےٓ ءَايَٰتِ اِ۬للَّهِ إِلَّا اَ۬لذِينَ كَفَرُواْۖ فَلَا يَغْرُرْكَ تَقَلُّبُهُمْ فِے اِ۬لْبِلَٰدِۖ ﰂ

Mâ yujâdilu fî âyâti llâhi illâ lladhîna kafarû falâ yaghrurka taqallubuhum fî lbilâd

Seuls ceux qui ont mécru discutent les versets d'Allah. Que leurs activités dans le pays ne te trompent pas

No one disputes concerning the signs of Allah except those who disbelieve, so be not deceived by their [uninhibited] movement throughout the land

كَذَّبَتْ قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمُ نُوحٖ وَالَاحْزَابُ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِمْۖ وَهَمَّتْ كُلُّ أُمَّةِۢ بِرَسُولِهِمْ لِيَاخُذُوهُۖ وَجَٰدَلُواْ بِالْبَٰطِلِ لِيُدْحِضُواْ بِهِ اِ۬لْحَقَّ فَأَخَذتُّهُمْۖ فَكَيْفَ كَانَ عِقَابِۖ ﰃ

Kadhdhabat qablahum qawmu nûhin walahzâbu mim ba‘dihim wahammat kullu ummatim birasûlihim liyâkhudhûhu wajâdalû bilbâtili liyudhidû bihi lhaqqa fa'akhadhttuhum fakayfa kâna ‘iqâb

Avant eux, le peuple de Noé a traité (Son Messager) de menteur, et les coalisés après eux (ont fait de même), et chaque communauté a conçu le dessein de s'emparer de Son Messager. Et ils ont discuté de faux arguments pour rejeter la vérité. Alors Je les ai saisis. Et quelle punition fut la Mienne

The people of Noah denied before them and the [disbelieving] factions after them, and every nation intended [a plot] for their messenger to seize him, and they disputed by [using] falsehood to [attempt to] invalidate thereby the truth. So I seized them, and how [terrible] was My penalty

وَكَذَٰلِكَ حَقَّتْ كَلِمَٰتُ رَبِّكَ عَلَى اَ۬لذِينَ كَفَرُوٓاْ أَنَّهُمُۥٓ أَصْحَٰبُ اُ۬لنّ۪ارِۖ ﰄ

Wakadhâlika haqqat kalimâtu rabbika ‘alâ lladhîna kafarû annahumû ashâbu nnêr

Ainsi s'avéra juste la Parole de ton Seigneur contre ceux qui ont mécru: «Ils seront les gens du Feu»

And thus has the word of your Lord come into effect upon those who disbelieved that they are companions of the Fire

اِ۬لذِينَ يَحْمِلُونَ اَ۬لْعَرْشَ وَمَنْ حَوْلَهُۥ يُسَبِّحُونَ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّهِمْ وَيُومِنُونَ بِهِۦ وَيَسْتَغْفِرُونَ لِلذِينَ ءَامَنُواْۖ رَبَّنَا وَسِعْتَ كُلَّ شَےْءٖ رَّحْمَةٗ وَعِلْماٗ فَاغْفِرْ لِلذِينَ تَابُواْ وَاتَّبَعُواْ سَبِيلَكَ وَقِهِمْ عَذَابَ اَ۬لْجَحِيمِۖ ﰅ

Alladhîna yahmilûna l‘arsha waman hawlahû yusabbihûna bihamdi rabbihim wayûminûna bihî wayastaghfirûna lilladhîna âmanû rabbanâ wasi‘ta kulla shay'ir rahmatan wa‘ilman faghfir lilladhîna tâbû wattaba‘û sabîlaka waqihim ‘adhâba ljahîm

Ceux (les Anges) qui portent le Trône et ceux qui l'entourent célèbrent les louanges de leur Seigneur, croient en Lui et implorent le pardon pour ceux qui croient: «Seigneur! Tu étends sur toute chose Ta miséricorde et Ta science. Pardonne donc à ceux qui se repentent et suivent Ton chemin et protège-les du châtiment de l'Enfer

Those [angels] who carry the Throne and those around it exalt [Allah] with praise of their Lord and believe in Him and ask forgiveness for those who have believed, [saying], "Our Lord, You have encompassed all things in mercy and knowledge, so forgive those who have repented and followed Your way and protect them from the punishment of Hellfire

رَبَّنَا وَأَدْخِلْهُمْ جَنَّٰتِ عَدْنٍ اِ۬لتِے وَعَدتَّهُمْ وَمَن صَلَحَ مِنَ اٰبَآئِهِمْ وَأَزْوَٰجِهِمْ وَذُرِّيَّٰتِهِمُۥٓۖ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ اَ۬لْعَزِيزُ اُ۬لْحَكِيمُۖ ﰆ

Rabbanâ wa'adkhilhum jannâti ‘adnini llatî wa‘adttahum waman salaha mina âbâ'ihim wa'azwâjihim wadhurriyyâtihimû innaka anta l‘azîzu lhakîm

Seigneur! Fais-les entrer aux jardins d'Eden que Tu leur as promis, ainsi qu'aux vertueux parmi leurs ancêtres, leurs épouses et leurs descendants, car c'est Toi le Puissant, le Sage

Our Lord, and admit them to gardens of perpetual residence which You have promised them and whoever was righteous among their fathers, their spouses and their offspring. Indeed, it is You who is the Exalted in Might, the Wise

وَقِهِمُ اُ۬لسَّيِّـَٔاتِۖ وَمَن تَقِ اِ۬لسَّيِّـَٔاتِ يَوْمَئِذٖ فَقَدْ رَحِمْتَهُۥۖ وَذَٰلِكَ هُوَ اَ۬لْفَوْزُ اُ۬لْعَظِيمُۖ ﰇ

Waqihimu ssayyi'âti waman taqi ssayyi'âti yawma'idhin faqad rahimtahû wadhâlika huwa lfawzu l‘azîm

Et préserve-les [du châtiment] des mauvaises actions. Quiconque Tu préserves [du châtiment] des mauvaises actions ce jour-là, Tu lui feras miséricorde». Et c'est là l'énorme succès

And protect them from the evil consequences [of their deeds]. And he whom You protect from evil consequences that Day - You will have given him mercy. And that is the great attainment

إِنَّ اَ۬لذِينَ كَفَرُواْ يُنَادَوْنَ لَمَقْتُ اُ۬للَّهِ أَكْبَرُ مِن مَّقْتِكُمُۥٓ أَنفُسَكُمُۥٓ إِذْ تُدْعَوْنَ إِلَى اَ۬لِايمَٰنِ فَتَكْفُرُونَۖ ﰈ

Inna lladhîna kafarû yunâdawna lamaqtu llâhi akbaru mim maqtikumû anfusakumû idh tud‘awna ilâ lîmâni fatakfurûn

A ceux qui n'auront pas cru on proclamera: «l'aversion d'Allah [envers vous] est plus grande que votre aversion envers vous-mêmes, lorsque vous étiez appelés à la foi et que vous persistiez dans la mécréance»

Indeed, those who disbelieve will be addressed, "The hatred of Allah for you was [even] greater than your hatred of yourselves [this Day in Hell] when you were invited to faith, but you refused

۞ قَالُواْ رَبَّنَآ أَمَتَّنَا اَ۪ثْنَتَيْنِ وَأَحْيَيْتَنَا اَ۪ثْنَتَيْنِ فَاعْتَرَفْنَا بِذُنُوبِنَا فَهَلِ اِلَىٰ خُرُوجٖ مِّن سَبِيلٖۖ ﰉ

Qâlû rabbanâ amattanâ thnatayni wa'ahyaytanâ thnatayni fa‘tarafnâ bidhunûbinâ fahali lâ khurûjim min sabîl

Ils diront: «Notre Seigneur, Tu nous as fais mourir deux fois et redonné la vie deux fois: nous reconnaissons donc nos péchés. Y a-t-il un moyen d'en sortir?»

They will say, "Our Lord, You made us lifeless twice and gave us life twice, and we have confessed our sins. So is there to an exit any way

ذَٰلِكُم بِأَنَّهُۥٓ إِذَا دُعِيَ اَ۬للَّهُ وَحْدَهُۥ كَفَرْتُمْ وَإِنْ يُّشْرَكْ بِهِۦ تُومِنُواْۖ فَالْحُكْمُ لِلهِ اِ۬لْعَلِيِّ اِ۬لْكَبِيرِۖ ﰊ

Dhâlikum bi'annahû idhâ du‘iya llâhu wahdahû kafartum wa'iy yushrak bihî tûminû falhukmu lillâhi l‘aliyyi lkabîr

«... Il en est ainsi car lorsqu'Allah était invoqué seul (sans associé), vous ne croyiez pas; et si on Lui donnait des associés, alors vous croyiez. Le jugement appartient à Allah, le Très Haut, le Très Grand»

[They will be told], "That is because, when Allah was called upon alone, you disbelieved; but if others were associated with Him, you believed. So the judgement is with Allah, the Most High, the Grand

هُوَ اَ۬لذِے يُرِيكُمُۥٓ ءَايَٰتِهِۦ وَيُنَزِّلُ لَكُم مِّنَ اَ۬لسَّمَآءِ رِزْقاٗۖ وَمَا يَتَذَكَّرُ إِلَّا مَنْ يُّنِيبُۖ ﰋ

Huwa lladhî yurîkumû âyâtihî wayunazzilu lakum mina ssamâ'i rizqan wamâ yatadhakkaru illâ may yunîb

C'est Lui qui vous fait voir Ses preuves, et fait descendre du ciel, pour vous, une subsistance. Seul se rappelle celui qui revient [à Allah]

It is He who shows you His signs and sends down to you from the sky, provision. But none will remember except he who turns back [in repentance]

فَادْعُواْ اُ۬للَّهَ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ اُ۬لدِّينَ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ اَ۬لْكَٰفِرُونَۖ ﰌ

Fad‘û llâha mukhlisîna lahu ddîna walaw kariha lkâfirûn

Invoquez Allah donc, en Lui vouant un culte exclusif quelque répulsion qu'en aient les mécréants

So invoke Allah, [being] sincere to Him in religion, although the disbelievers dislike it

رَفِيعُ اُ۬لدَّرَجَٰتِ ذُو اُ۬لْعَرْشِۖ يُلْقِے اِ۬لرُّوحَ مِنَ اَمْرِهِۦ عَلَىٰ مَنْ يَّشَآءُ مِنْ عِبَادِهِۦ لِيُنذِرَ يَوْمَ اَ۬لتَّلَٰقِۦ ﰍ

Rafî‘u ddarajâti dhû l‘arshi yulqî rrûha mina mrihî ‘alâ may yashâ'u min ‘ibâdihî liyundhira yawma ttalâqî

Il est Celui qui est élevé aux degrés les plus hauts, Possesseur du Trône, Il envoie par son ordre l'Esprit sur celui qu'Il veut parmi Ses serviteurs, afin que celui-ci avertisse du jour de la Rencontre

[He is] the Exalted above [all] degrees, Owner of the Throne; He places the inspiration of His command upon whom He wills of His servants to warn of the Day of Meeting

يَوْمَ هُم بَٰرِزُونَۖ لَا يَخْف۪ىٰ عَلَى اَ۬للَّهِ مِنْهُمْ شَےْءٞۖ لِّمَنِ اِ۬لْمُلْكُ اُ۬لْيَوْمَۖ لِلهِ اِ۬لْوَٰحِدِ اِ۬لْقَهّ۪ارِۖ ﰎ

Yawma hum bârizûna lâ yakhfê ‘alâ llâhi minhum shay'ul limani lmulku lyawma lillâhi lwâhidi lqahhêr

le jour où ils comparaîtront sans que rien en eux ne soit caché à Allah. A qui appartient la royauté, aujourd'hui? A Allah, l'Unique, le Dominateur

The Day they come forth nothing concerning them will be concealed from Allah. To whom belongs [all] sovereignty this Day? To Allah, the One, the Prevailing

اِ۬لْيَوْمَ تُجْز۪ىٰ كُلُّ نَفْسِۢ بِمَا كَسَبَتْۖ لَا ظُلْمَ اَ۬لْيَوْمَۖ إِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ سَرِيعُ اُ۬لْحِسَابِۖ ﰏ

Alyawma tujzê kullu nafsim bimâ kasabat lâ zulma lyawma inna llâha sarî‘u lhisâb

Ce jour-là, chaque âme sera rétribuée selon ce qu'elle aura acquis. Ce jour-là, pas d'injustice, car Allah est prompt dans [Ses] comptes

This Day every soul will be recompensed for what it earned. No injustice today! Indeed, Allah is swift in account

وَأَنذِرْهُمْ يَوْمَ اَ۬لَازِفَةِ إِذِ اِ۬لْقُلُوبُ لَدَى اَ۬لْحَنَاجِرِ كَٰظِمِينَۖ ﰐ

Wa'andhirhum yawma lazifati idhi lqulûbu ladâ lhanâjiri kâzimîn

Et avertis-les du jour qui approche, quand les cœurs remonteront aux gorges, terrifiés (ou angoissés). Les injustes n'auront ni ami zélé, ni intercesseur écouté

And warn them, [O Muhammad], of the Approaching Day, when hearts are at the throats, filled [with distress]. For the wrongdoers there will be no devoted friend and no intercessor [who is] obeyed

مَا لِلظَّٰلِمِينَ مِنْ حَمِيمٖ وَلَا شَفِيعٖ يُطَاعُۖ ﰑ

Mâ lizzâlimîna min hamîmin walâ shafî‘in yutâ‘

يَعْلَمُ خَآئِنَةَ اَ۬لَاعْيُنِ وَمَا تُخْفِے اِ۬لصُّدُورُۖ ﰒ

Ya‘lamu khâ'inata la‘yuni wamâ tukhfî ssudûr

Il (Allah) connaît la trahison des yeux, tout comme ce que les poitrines cachent

He knows that which deceives the eyes and what the breasts conceal

وَاللَّهُ يَقْضِے بِالْحَقِّۖ وَالذِينَ تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِهِۦ لَا يَقْضُونَ بِشَےْءٍۖ اِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ هُوَ اَ۬لسَّمِيعُ اُ۬لْبَصِيرُۖ ﰓ

Wallâhu yaqdî bilhaqqi walladhîna tad‘ûna min dûnihî lâ yaqdûna bishay'ini nna llâha huwa ssamî‘u lbasîr

Et Allah juge en toute équité, tandis que ceux qu'ils invoquent en dehors de Lui ne jugent rien. En vérité c'est Allah qui est l'Audient, le Clairvoyant

And Allah judges with truth, while those they invoke besides Him judge not with anything. Indeed, Allah - He is the Hearing, the Seeing

۞ أَوَلَمْ يَسِيرُواْ فِے اِ۬لَارْضِ فَيَنظُرُواْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ اُ۬لذِينَ كَانُواْ مِن قَبْلِهِمْۖ كَانُواْ هُمُۥٓ أَشَدَّ مِنْهُمْ قُوَّةٗ وَءَاثَاراٗ فِے اِ۬لَارْضِ فَأَخَذَهُمُ اُ۬للَّهُ بِذُنُوبِهِمْۖ وَمَا كَانَ لَهُم مِّنَ اَ۬للَّهِ مِنْ وَّاقٖۖ ﰔ

Awalam yasîrû fî lardi fayanzurû kayfa kâna ‘âqibatu lladhîna kânû min qablihim kânû humû ashadda minhum quwwatan wa'âthâran fî lardi fa'akhadhahumu llâhu bidhunûbihim wamâ kâna lahum mina llâhi miw wâq

Ne parcourent-ils pas la terre, pour voir ce qu'il est advenu de ceux qui ont vécu avant eux? Ils étaient [pourtant] plus forts qu'eux et ont laissé sur terre bien plus de vestiges. Allah les saisit pour leurs péchés et ils n'eurent point de protecteur contre Allah

Have they not traveled through the land and observed how was the end of those who were before them? They were greater than them in strength and in impression on the land, but Allah seized them for their sins. And they had not from Allah any protector

ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ كَانَت تَّاتِيهِمْ رُسُلُهُم بِالْبَيِّنَٰتِ فَكَفَرُواْ فَأَخَذَهُمُ اُ۬للَّهُۖ إِنَّهُۥ قَوِيّٞ شَدِيدُ اُ۬لْعِقَابِۖ ﰕ

Dhâlika bi'annahum kânat tâtîhim rusuluhum bilbayyinâti fakafarû fa'akhadhahumu llâhu innahû qawiyyun shadîdu l‘iqâb

Ce fut ainsi, parce que leurs Messagers leur avaient apporté les preuves, mais ils se montrèrent mécréants. Allah donc les saisit, car Il est fort et redoutable dans Son châtiment

That was because their messengers were coming to them with clear proofs, but they disbelieved, so Allah seized them. Indeed, He is Powerful and severe in punishment

وَلَقَدَ اَرْسَلْنَا مُوس۪ىٰ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا وَسُلْطَٰنٖ مُّبِينٍ ﰖ

Walaqada rsalnâ mûsê bi'âyâtinâ wasultânim mubîn

Nous envoyâmes effectivement Moïse avec Nos signes et une preuve évidente

And We did certainly send Moses with Our signs and a clear authority

اِلَىٰ فِرْعَوْنَ وَهَامَٰنَ وَقَارُونَ فَقَالُواْ سَٰحِرٞ كَذَّابٞۖ ﰗ

Ilâ fir‘awna wahâmâna waqârûna faqâlû sâhirun kadhdhâb

vers Pharaon, Hâmân et Coré. Mais ils dirent: «Magicien! Grand menteur!»

To Pharaoh, Haman and Qarun; but they said, "[He is] a magician and a liar

فَلَمَّا جَآءَهُم بِالْحَقِّ مِنْ عِندِنَا قَالُواْ اُ۟قْتُلُوٓاْ أَبْنَآءَ اَ۬لذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ مَعَهُۥ وَاسْتَحْيُواْ نِسَآءَهُمْۖ وَمَا كَيْدُ اُ۬لْكٰ۪فِرِينَ إِلَّا فِے ضَلَٰلٖۖ ﰘ

Falammâ jâ'ahum bilhaqqi min ‘indinâ qâlû qtulû abnâ'a lladhîna âmanû ma‘ahû wastahyû nisâ'ahum wamâ kaydu lkêfirîna illâ fî dalâl

Puis, quand il leur eut apporté la vérité venant de Nous, ils dirent: «Tuez les fils de ceux qui ont cru avec lui, et laissez vivre leurs femmes». Et les ruses des mécréants ne vont qu'en pure perte

And when he brought them the truth from Us, they said, "Kill the sons of those who have believed with him and keep their women alive." But the plan of the disbelievers is not except in error

وَقَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ ذَرُونِےٓ أَقْتُلْ مُوس۪ىٰ وَلْيَدْعُ رَبَّهُۥٓ إِنِّيَ أَخَافُ أَنْ يُّبَدِّلَ دِينَكُمْ وَأَنْ يُّظْهِرَ فِے اِ۬لَارْضِ اِ۬لْفَسَادَۖ ﰙ

Waqâla fir‘awnu dharûnî aqtul mûsê walyad‘u rabbahû inniya akhâfu ay yubaddila dînakum wa'ay yuzhira fî lardi lfasâd

Et Pharaon dit: «Laissez-moi tuer Moïse. Et qu'il appelle son Seigneur! Je crains qu'il ne change votre religion ou qu'il ne fasse apparaître la corruption sur terre»

And Pharaoh said, "Let me kill Moses and let him call upon his Lord. Indeed, I fear that he will change your religion or that he will cause corruption in the land

وَقَالَ مُوس۪ىٰٓ إِنِّے عُذْتُ بِرَبِّے وَرَبِّكُم مِّن كُلِّ مُتَكَبِّرٖ لَّا يُومِنُ بِيَوْمِ اِ۬لْحِسَابِۖ ﰚ

Waqâla mûsê innî ‘udhtu birabbî warabbikum min kulli mutakabbiril lâ yûminu biyawmi lhisâb

Moïse [lui] dit: «Je cherche auprès de mon Seigneur et le vôtre, protection contre tout orgueilleux qui ne croit pas au jour du Compte»

But Moses said, "Indeed, I have sought refuge in my Lord and your Lord from every arrogant one who does not believe in the Day of Account

وَقَالَ رَجُلٞ مُّومِنٞ مِّنَ اٰلِ فِرْعَوْنَ يَكْتُمُ إِيمَٰنَهُۥٓ أَتَقْتُلُونَ رَجُلاً اَنْ يَّقُولَ رَبِّيَ اَ۬للَّهُ وَقَدْ جَآءَكُم بِالْبَيِّنَٰتِ مِن رَّبِّكُمْ وَإِنْ يَّكُ كَٰذِباٗ فَعَلَيْهِ كَذِبُهُۥ وَإِنْ يَّكُ صَادِقاٗ يُصِبْكُم بَعْضُ اُ۬لذِے يَعِدُكُمُۥٓۖ إِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ لَا يَهْدِے مَنْ هُوَ مُسْرِفٞ كَذَّابٞۖ ﰛ

Waqâla rajulum mûminum mina âli fir‘awna yaktumu îmânahû ataqtulûna rajulana y yaqûla rabbiya llâhu waqad jâ'akum bilbayyinâti mir rabbikum wa'iy yaku kâdhiban fa‘alayhi kadhibuhû wa'iy yaku sâdiqan yusibkum ba‘du lladhî ya‘idukumû inna llâha lâ yahdî man huwa musrifun kadhdhâb

Et un homme croyant de la famille de Pharaon, qui dissimulait sa foi dit: «Tuez-vous un homme parce qu'il dit: «Mon Seigneur est Allah?» Alors qu'il est venu à vous avec les preuves évidentes de la part de votre Seigneur. S'il est menteur, son mensonge sera à son détriment; tandis que s'il est véridique, alors une partie de ce dont il vous menace tombera sur vous». Certes, Allah ne guide pas celui qui est outrancier et imposteur

And a believing man from the family of Pharaoh who concealed his faith said, "Do you kill a man [merely] because he says, 'My Lord is Allah' while he has brought you clear proofs from your Lord? And if he should be lying, then upon him is [the consequence of] his lie; but if he should be truthful, there will strike you some of what he promises you. Indeed, Allah does not guide one who is a transgressor and a liar

يَٰقَوْمِ لَكُمُ اُ۬لْمُلْكُ اُ۬لْيَوْمَ ظَٰهِرِينَ فِے اِ۬لَارْضِ فَمَنْ يَّنصُرُنَا مِنۢ بَأْسِ اِ۬للَّهِ إِن جَآءَنَاۖ قَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ مَآ أُرِيكُمُۥٓ إِلَّا مَآ أَر۪ىٰ وَمَآ أَهْدِيكُمُۥٓ إِلَّا سَبِيلَ اَ۬لرَّشَادِۖ ﰜ

Yâqawmi lakumu lmulku lyawma zâhirîna fî lardi famay yansurunâ mim ba'si llâhi in jâ'anâ qâla fir‘awnu mâ urîkumû illâ mâ arê wamâ ahdîkumû illâ sabîla rrashâd

«O mon peuple, triomphant sur la terre, vous avez la royauté aujourd'hui. Mais qui nous secourra de la rigueur d'Allah si elle nous vient?» Pharaon dit: «Je ne vous indique que ce que je considère bon. Je ne vous guide qu'au sentier de la droiture»

O my people, sovereignty is yours today, [your being] dominant in the land. But who would protect us from the punishment of Allah if it came to us?" Pharaoh said, "I do not show you except what I see, and I do not guide you except to the way of right conduct

۞ وَقَالَ اَ۬لذِےٓ ءَامَنَ يَٰقَوْمِ إِنِّيَ أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُم مِّثْلَ يَوْمِ اِ۬لَاحْزَابِ ﰝ

Waqâla lladhî âmana yâqawmi inniya akhâfu ‘alaykum mithla yawmi lahzâb

Et celui qui était croyant dit: «O mon peuple, je crains pour vous un jour semblable à celui des coalisés

And he who believed said, "O my people, indeed I fear for you [a fate] like the day of the companies

مِثْلَ دَأْبِ قَوْمِ نُوحٖ وَعَادٖ وَثَمُودَ وَالذِينَ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِمْۖ وَمَا اَ۬للَّهُ يُرِيدُ ظُلْماٗ لِّلْعِبَادِۖ ﰞ

Mithla da'bi qawmi nûhin wa‘âdin wathamûda walladhîna mim ba‘dihim wamâ llâhu yurîdu zulmal lil‘ibâd

Un sort semblable à celui du peuple de Noé, des 'Aad et des Thamûd et de ceux [qui vécurent] après eux». Allah ne veut [faire subir] aucune injustice aux serviteurs

Like the custom of the people of Noah and of 'Aad and Thamud and those after them. And Allah wants no injustice for [His] servants

وَيَٰقَوْمِ إِنِّيَ أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ يَوْمَ اَ۬لتَّنَادِۦ ﰟ

Wayâqawmi inniya akhâfu ‘alaykum yawma ttanâdî

«O mon peuple, je crains pour vous le jour de l'Appel Mutuel

And O my people, indeed I fear for you the Day of Calling

يَوْمَ تُوَلُّونَ مُدْبِرِينَ مَا لَكُم مِّنَ اَ۬للَّهِ مِنْ عَٰصِمٖۖ وَمَنْ يُّضْلِلِ اِ۬للَّهُ فَمَا لَهُۥ مِنْ هَادٖۖ ﰠ

Yawma tuwallûna mudbirîna mâ lakum mina llâhi min ‘âsimin wamay yudlili llâhu famâ lahû min hâd

Le jour où vous tournerez le dos en déroute, sans qu'il y ait pour vous de protecteur contre Allah». Et quiconque Allah égare, n'a point de guide

The Day you will turn your backs fleeing; there is not for you from Allah any protector. And whoever Allah leaves astray - there is not for him any guide

وَلَقَدْ جَآءَكُمْ يُوسُفُ مِن قَبْلُ بِالْبَيِّنَٰتِ فَمَا زِلْتُمْ فِے شَكّٖ مِّمَّا جَآءَكُم بِهِۦ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا هَلَكَ قُلْتُمْ لَنْ يَّبْعَثَ اَ۬للَّهُ مِنۢ بَعْدِهِۦ رَسُولاٗۖ كَذَٰلِكَ يُضِلُّ اُ۬للَّهُ مَنْ هُوَ مُسْرِفٞ مُّرْتَابٌۖ ﰡ

Walaqad jâ'akum yûsufu min qablu bilbayyinâti famâ ziltum fî shakkim mimmâ jâ'akum bihî hattâ idhâ halaka qultum lay yab‘atha llâhu mim ba‘dihî rasûlan kadhâlika yudillu llâhu man huwa musrifum murtâb

Certes, Joseph vous est venu auparavant avec les preuves évidentes, mais vous n'avez jamais cessé d'avoir des doutes sur ce qu'il vous avait apporté. Mais lorsqu'il mourut, vous dites alors: «Allah n'enverra plus jamais de Messager après lui». Ainsi Allah égare-t-Il celui qui est outrancier et celui qui doute

And Joseph had already come to you before with clear proofs, but you remained in doubt of that which he brought to you, until when he died, you said, 'Never will Allah send a messenger after him.' Thus does Allah leave astray he who is a transgressor and skeptic

اِ۬لذِينَ يُجَٰدِلُونَ فِےٓ ءَايَٰتِ اِ۬للَّهِ بِغَيْرِ سُلْطَٰنٍ اَت۪يٰهُمْۖ كَبُرَ مَقْتاً عِندَ اَ۬للَّهِ وَعِندَ اَ۬لذِينَ ءَامَنُواْۖ كَذَٰلِكَ يَطْبَعُ اُ۬للَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ قَلْبِ مُتَكَبِّرٖ جَبّ۪ارٖۖ ﰢ

Alladhîna yujâdilûna fî âyâti llâhi bighayri sultânina têhum kabura maqtan ‘inda llâhi wa‘inda lladhîna âmanû kadhâlika yatba‘u llâhu ‘alâ kulli qalbi mutakabbirin jabbêr

Ceux qui discutent les prodiges d'Allah sans qu'aucune preuve ne leur soit venue, [leur action] est grandement haïssable auprès d'Allah et auprès de ceux qui croient. Ainsi Allah scelle-t-Il le cœur de tout orgueilleux tyran

Those who dispute concerning the signs of Allah without an authority having come to them - great is hatred [of them] in the sight of Allah and in the sight of those who have believed. Thus does Allah seal over every heart [belonging to] an arrogant tyrant

وَقَالَ فِرْعَوْنُ يَٰهَامَٰنُ اُ۪بْنِ لِے صَرْحاٗ لَّعَلِّيَ أَبْلُغُ اُ۬لَاسْبَٰبَ ﰣ

Waqâla fir‘awnu yâhâmânu bni lî sarhal la‘alliya ablughu lasbâb

Et Pharaon dit: «O Hâmân, bâtis-moi une tour: peut-être atteindrai-je les voies

And Pharaoh said, "O Haman, construct for me a tower that I might reach the ways

أَسْبَٰبَ اَ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتِ فَأَطَّلِعُ إِلَىٰٓ إِلَٰهِ مُوس۪ىٰ وَإِنِّے لَأَظُنُّهُۥ كَٰذِباٗۖ وَكَذَٰلِكَ زُيِّنَ لِفِرْعَوْنَ سُوٓءُ عَمَلِهِۦ وَصَدَّ عَنِ اِ۬لسَّبِيلِۖ وَمَا كَيْدُ فِرْعَوْنَ إِلَّا فِے تَبَابٖۖ ﰤ

Asbâba ssamâwâti fa'attali‘u ilâ ilâhi mûsê wa'innî la'azunnuhû kâdhiban wakadhâlika zuyyina lifir‘awna sû'u ‘amalihî wasadda ‘ani ssabîli wamâ kaydu fir‘awna illâ fî tabâb

les voies des cieux, et apercevrai-je le Dieu de Moïse; mais je pense que celui-ci est menteur». Ainsi la mauvaise action de Pharaon lui parut enjolivée; et il fut détourné du droit chemin; et le stratagème de Pharaon n'est voué qu'à la destruction

The ways into the heavens - so that I may look at the deity of Moses; but indeed, I think he is a liar." And thus was made attractive to Pharaoh the evil of his deed, and he was averted from the [right] way. And the plan of Pharaoh was not except in ruin

وَقَالَ اَ۬لذِےٓ ءَامَنَ يَٰقَوْمِ اِ۪تَّبِعُونِ أَهْدِكُمْ سَبِيلَ اَ۬لرَّشَادِۖ ﰥ

Waqâla lladhî âmana yâqawmi ttabi‘ûni ahdikum sabîla rrashâd

Et celui qui avait cru dit: «O mon peuple, suivez-moi. Je vous guiderai au sentier de la droiture

And he who believed said, "O my people, follow me, I will guide you to the way of right conduct

يَٰقَوْمِ إِنَّمَا هَٰذِهِ اِ۬لْحَيَوٰةُ اُ۬لدُّنْي۪ا مَتَٰعٞۖ وَإِنَّ اَ۬لَاخِرَةَ هِيَ دَارُ اُ۬لْقَر۪ارِۖ ﰦ

Yâqawmi innamâ hâdhihi lhayawâtu ddunyê matâ‘un wa'inna lakhirata hiya dâru lqarêr

O mon peuple, cette vie n'est que jouissance temporaire, alors que l'au-delà est vraiment la demeure de la stabilité

O my people, this worldly life is only [temporary] enjoyment, and indeed, the Hereafter - that is the home of [permanent] settlement

مَنْ عَمِلَ سَيِّئَةٗ فَلَا يُجْز۪ىٰٓ إِلَّا مِثْلَهَاۖ وَمَنْ عَمِلَ صَٰلِحاٗ مِّن ذَكَرٍ اَوُ ا۟نث۪ىٰ وَهُوَ مُومِنٞ فَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ يَدْخُلُونَ اَ۬لْجَنَّةَ يُرْزَقُونَ فِيهَا بِغَيْرِ حِسَابٖۖ ﰧ

Man ‘amila sayyî'atan falâ yujzê illâ mithlahâ waman ‘amila sâliham min dhakarina wu unthê wahuwa mûminun fa'ulâ'ika yadkhulûna ljannata yurzaqûna fîhâ bighayri hisâb

Quiconque fait une mauvaise action ne sera rétribué que par son pareil; et quiconque, mâle ou femelle, fait une bonne action tout en étant croyant, alors ceux-là entreront au Paradis pour y recevoir leur subsistance sans compter

Whoever does an evil deed will not be recompensed except by the like thereof; but whoever does righteousness, whether male or female, while he is a believer - those will enter Paradise, being given provision therein without account

۞ وَيَٰقَوْمِ مَا لِيَ أَدْعُوكُمُۥٓ إِلَى اَ۬لنَّجَوٰةِ وَتَدْعُونَنِےٓ إِلَى اَ۬لنّ۪ارِۖ ﰨ

Wayâqawmi mâ liya ad‘ûkumû ilâ nnajawâti watad‘ûnanî ilâ nnêr

O mon peuple, mais qu'ai-je à vous appeler au salut, alors que vous m'appelez au Feu

And O my people, how is it that I invite you to salvation while you invite me to the Fire

تَدْعُونَنِے لِأَكْفُرَ بِاللَّهِ وَأُشْرِكَ بِهِۦ مَا لَيْسَ لِے بِهِۦ عِلْمٞ وَأَنَآ أَدْعُوكُمُۥٓ إِلَى اَ۬لْعَزِيزِ اِ۬لْغَفّٰ۪رِۖ ﰩ

Tad‘ûnanî li'akfura billâhi wa'ushrika bihî mâ laysa lî bihî ‘ilmun wa'anâ ad‘ûkumû ilâ l‘azîzi lghaffêr

Vous m'invitez à nier Allah et à Lui donner des associés dont je n'ai aucun savoir, alors que je vous appelle au Tout Puissant, au Grand Pardonneur

You invite me to disbelieve in Allah and associate with Him that of which I have no knowledge, and I invite you to the Exalted in Might, the Perpetual Forgiver

لَا جَرَمَ أَنَّمَا تَدْعُونَنِےٓ إِلَيْهِ لَيْسَ لَهُۥ دَعْوَةٞ فِے اِ۬لدُّنْي۪ا وَلَا فِے اِ۬لَاخِرَةِ وَأَنَّ مَرَدَّنَآ إِلَى اَ۬للَّهِ وَأَنَّ اَ۬لْمُسْرِفِينَ هُمُۥٓ أَصْحَٰبُ اُ۬لنّ۪ارِۖ ﰪ

Lâ jarama annamâ tad‘ûnanî ilayhi laysa lahû da‘watun fî ddunyê walâ fî lakhirati wa'anna maraddanâ ilâ llâhi wa'anna lmusrifîna humû ashâbu nnêr

Nul doute que ce à quoi vous m'appelez ne peut exaucer une invocation ni ici-bas ni dans l'au-delà. C'est vers Allah qu'est notre retour, et les outranciers sont eux les gens du Feu

Assuredly, that to which you invite me has no [response to a] supplication in this world or in the Hereafter; and indeed, our return is to Allah, and indeed, the transgressors will be companions of the Fire

فَسَتَذْكُرُونَ مَآ أَقُولُ لَكُمْۖ وَأُفَوِّضُ أَمْرِيَ إِلَى اَ۬للَّهِۖ إِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ بَصِيرُۢ بِالْعِبَادِۖ ﰫ

Fasatadhkurûna mâ aqûlu lakum wa'ufawwidu amriya ilâ llâhi inna llâha basîrum bil‘ibâd

Bientôt vous vous rappellerez ce que je vous dis; et je confie mon sort à Allah. Allah est, certes, Clairvoyant sur les serviteurs

And you will remember what I [now] say to you, and I entrust my affair to Allah. Indeed, Allah is Seeing of [His] servants

فَوَق۪يٰهُ اُ۬للَّهُ سَيِّـَٔاتِ مَا مَكَرُواْۖ وَحَاقَ بِـَٔالِ فِرْعَوْنَ سُوٓءُ اُ۬لْعَذَابِۖ ﰬ

Fawaqêhu llâhu sayyi'âti mâ makarû wahâqa bi'âli fir‘awna sû'u l‘adhâb

Allah donc le protégea des méfaits de leurs ruses, alors que le pire châtiment cerna les gens de Pharaon

So Allah protected him from the evils they plotted, and the people of Pharaoh were enveloped by the worst of punishment

اِ۬لنَّارُ يُعْرَضُونَ عَلَيْهَا غُدُوّاٗ وَعَشِيّاٗۖ وَيَوْمَ تَقُومُ اُ۬لسَّاعَةُ أَدْخِلُوٓاْ ءَالَ فِرْعَوْنَ أَشَدَّ اَ۬لْعَذَابِۖ ﰭ

Annâru yu‘radûna ‘alayhâ ghuduwwan wa‘ashiyyan wayawma taqûmu ssâ‘atu adkhilû âla fir‘awna ashadda l‘adhâb

le Feu, auquel ils sont exposés matin et soir. Et le jour où l'Heure arrivera (il sera dit): «Faites entrer les gens de Pharaon au plus dur du châtiment»

The Fire, they are exposed to it morning and evening. And the Day the Hour appears [it will be said], "Make the people of Pharaoh enter the severest punishment

وَإِذْ يَتَحَآجُّونَ فِے اِ۬لنّ۪ارِ فَيَقُولُ اُ۬لضُّعَفَٰٓؤُاْ لِلذِينَ اَ۪سْتَكْبَرُوٓاْ إِنَّا كُنَّا لَكُمْ تَبَعاٗ فَهَلَ اَنتُم مُّغْنُونَ عَنَّا نَصِيباٗ مِّنَ اَ۬لنّ۪ارِۖ ﰮ

Wa'idh yatahâjjûna fî nnêri fayaqûlu ddu‘afâ'u lilladhîna stakbarû innâ kunnâ lakum taba‘an fahala ntum mughnûna ‘annâ nasîbam mina nnêr

Et quand ils se disputeront dans le Feu, les faibles diront à ceux qui s'enflaient d'orgueil: «Nous vous avions suivis: pourriez-vous nous préserver d'une partie du feu?»

And [mention] when they will argue within the Fire, and the weak will say to those who had been arrogant, "Indeed, we were [only] your followers, so will you relieve us of a share of the Fire

قَالَ اَ۬لذِينَ اَ۪سْتَكْبَرُوٓاْ إِنَّا كُلّٞ فِيهَآ إِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ قَدْ حَكَمَ بَيْنَ اَ۬لْعِبَادِۖ ﰯ

Qâla lladhîna stakbarû innâ kullun fîhâ inna llâha qad hakama bayna l‘ibâd

Et ceux qui s'enflaient d'orgueil diront: «En vérité, nous y voilà tous». Allah a déjà rendu son jugement entre les serviteurs

Those who had been arrogant will say, "Indeed, all [of us] are in it. Indeed, Allah has judged between the servants

وَقَالَ اَ۬لذِينَ فِے اِ۬لنّ۪ارِ لِخَزَنَةِ جَهَنَّمَ اَ۟دْعُواْ رَبَّكُمْ يُخَفِّفْ عَنَّا يَوْماٗ مِّنَ اَ۬لْعَذَابِۖ ﰰ

Waqâla lladhîna fî nnêri likhazanati jahannama d‘û rabbakum yukhaffif ‘annâ yawmam mina l‘adhâb

Et ceux qui seront dans le Feu diront aux gardiens de l'Enfer: «Priez votre Seigneur de nous alléger un jour de [notre] supplice»

And those in the Fire will say to the keepers of Hell, "Supplicate your Lord to lighten for us a day from the punishment

قَالُوٓاْ أَوَلَمْ تَكُ تَاتِيكُمْ رُسُلُكُم بِالْبَيِّنَٰتِ قَالُواْ بَل۪ىٰ قَالُواْ فَادْعُواْۖ وَمَا دُعَٰٓؤُاْ اُ۬لْكٰ۪فِرِينَ إِلَّا فِے ضَلَٰلٍۖ ﰱ

Qâlû awalam taku tâtîkum rusulukum bilbayyinâti qâlû balê qâlû fad‘û wamâ du‘â'u lkêfirîna illâ fî dalâl

Ils diront: «vos Messagers, ne vous apportaient-ils pas les preuves évidentes?» Ils diront: «Si»! Ils [les gardiens] diront: «Eh bien, priez» ! Et l'invocation des mécréants n'est qu'aberration

They will say, "Did there not come to you your messengers with clear proofs?" They will say, "Yes." They will reply, "Then supplicate [yourselves], but the supplication of the disbelievers is not except in error

اِنَّا لَنَنصُرُ رُسُلَنَا وَالذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ فِے اِ۬لْحَيَوٰةِ اِ۬لدُّنْي۪ا وَيَوْمَ يَقُومُ اُ۬لَاشْهَٰدُ ﰲ

Innâ lanansuru rusulanâ walladhîna âmanû fî lhayawâti ddunyê wayawma yaqûmu lashhâd

Nous secourrons, certes, Nos Messagers et ceux qui croient, dans la vie présente tout comme au jour où les témoins [les Anges gardiens] se dresseront (le Jour du Jugement)

Indeed, We will support Our messengers and those who believe during the life of this world and on the Day when the witnesses will stand

يَوْمَ لَا يَنفَعُ اُ۬لظَّٰلِمِينَ مَعْذِرَتُهُمْ وَلَهُمُ اُ۬للَّعْنَةُ وَلَهُمْ سُوٓءُ اُ۬لدّ۪ارِۖ ﰳ

Yawma lâ yanfa‘u zzâlimîna ma‘dhiratuhum walahumu lla‘natu walahum sû'u ddêr

au jour où leur excuse ne sera pas utile aux injustes, tandis qu'il y aura pour eux la malédiction et la pire demeure

The Day their excuse will not benefit the wrongdoers, and they will have the curse, and they will have the worst home

۞ وَلَقَدَ اٰتَيْنَا مُوسَى اَ۬لْهُد۪ىٰ وَأَوْرَثْنَا بَنِےٓ إِسْرَآءِيلَ اَ۬لْكِتَٰبَ هُدىٗ وَذِكْر۪ىٰ لِأُوْلِے اِ۬لَالْبَٰبِۖ ﰴ

Walaqada âtaynâ mûsâ lhudê wa'awrathnâ banî isrâ'îla lkitâba hudan wadhikrê li'ulî lalbâb

En effet, Nous avons apporté à Moïse la guidée, et fait hériter aux Enfants d'Israël, le Livre une guidée et un rappel aux gens doués d'intelligence

And We had certainly given Moses guidance, and We caused the Children of Israel to inherit the Scripture As guidance and a reminder for those of understanding

فَاصْبِرِ اِنَّ وَعْدَ اَ۬للَّهِ حَقّٞۖ وَاسْتَغْفِرْ لِذَنۢبِكَ وَسَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ بِالْعَشِيِّ وَالِابْكٰ۪رِۖ ﰵ

Fasbiri nna wa‘da llâhi haqqun wastaghfir lidhambika wasabbih bihamdi rabbika bil‘ashiyyi walibkêr

Endure donc, car la promesse d'Allah est vérité, implore le pardon pour ton péché et célèbre la gloire et la louange de ton Seigneur, soir et matin

So be patient, [O Muhammad]. Indeed, the promise of Allah is truth. And ask forgiveness for your sin and exalt [Allah] with praise of your Lord in the evening and the morning

إِنَّ اَ۬لذِينَ يُجَٰدِلُونَ فِےٓ ءَايَٰتِ اِ۬للَّهِ بِغَيْرِ سُلْطَٰنٍ اَت۪يٰهُمُۥٓ إِن فِے صُدُورِهِمُۥٓ إِلَّا كِبْرٞ مَّا هُم بِبَٰلِغِيهِۖ فَاسْتَعِذْ بِاللَّهِۖ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ اَ۬لسَّمِيعُ اُ۬لْبَصِيرُۖ ﰶ

Inna lladhîna yujâdilûna fî âyâti llâhi bighayri sultânina têhumû in fî sudûrihimû illâ kibrum mâ hum bibâlighîhi fasta‘idh billâhi innahû huwa ssamî‘u lbasîr

Ceux qui discutent sur les versets d'Allah sans qu'aucune preuve ne leur soit venue, n'ont dans leurs poitrines qu'orgueil. Ils n'atteindront pas leur but. Implore donc la protection d'Allah, car c'est Lui l'Audient, le Clairvoyant

Indeed, those who dispute concerning the signs of Allah without [any] authority having come to them - there is not within their breasts except pride, [the extent of] which they cannot reach. So seek refuge in Allah. Indeed, it is He who is the Hearing, the Seeing

لَخَلْقُ اُ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالَارْضِ أَكْبَرُ مِنْ خَلْقِ اِ۬لنَّاسِۖ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ اَ۬لنَّاسِ لَا يَعْلَمُونَۖ ﰷ

Lakhalqu ssamâwâti walardi akbaru min khalqi nnâsi walâkinna akthara nnâsi lâ ya‘lamûn

La création des cieux et de la terre est quelque chose de plus grand que la création des gens. Mais la plupart des gens ne savent pas

The creation of the heavens and earth is greater than the creation of mankind, but most of the people do not know

وَمَا يَسْتَوِے اِ۬لَاعْم۪ىٰ وَالْبَصِيرُ ﰸ

Wamâ yastawî la‘mê walbasîr

L'aveugle et le voyant ne sont pas égaux, et ceux qui croient et accomplissent les bonnes œuvres ne peuvent être comparés à celui qui fait le mal. C'est rare que vous vous rappeliez

And not equal are the blind and the seeing, nor are those who believe and do righteous deeds and the evildoer. Little do you remember

وَالذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ اُ۬لصَّٰلِحَٰتِ وَلَا اَ۬لْمُسِےٓءُۖ قَلِيلاٗ مَّا يَتَذَكَّرُونَۖ ﰹ

Walladhîna âmanû wa‘amilû ssâlihâti walâ lmusî'u qalîlam mâ yatadhakkarûn

إِنَّ اَ۬لسَّاعَةَ لَأٓتِيَةٞ لَّا رَيْبَ فِيهَاۖ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ اَ۬لنَّاسِ لَا يُومِنُونَۖ ﰺ

Inna ssâ‘ata la'tiyatul lâ rayba fîhâ walâkinna akthara nnâsi lâ yûminûn

En vérité; L'Heure va arriver: pas de doute là-dessus; mais la plupart des gens n'y croient pas

Indeed, the Hour is coming - no doubt about it - but most of the people do not believe

وَقَالَ رَبُّكُمُ اُ۟دْعُونِےٓ أَسْتَجِبْ لَكُمُۥٓۖ إِنَّ اَ۬لذِينَ يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ عَنْ عِبَادَتِے سَيَدْخُلُونَ جَهَنَّمَ دَاخِرِينَۖ ﰻ

Waqâla rabbukumu d‘ûnî astajib lakumû inna lladhîna yastakbirûna ‘an ‘ibâdatî sayadkhulûna jahannama dâkhirîn

Et votre Seigneur dit: «Appelez-Moi, Je vous répondrai. Ceux qui, par orgueil, se refusent à M'adorer entreront bientôt dans l'Enfer, humiliés»

And your Lord says, "Call upon Me; I will respond to you." Indeed, those who disdain My worship will enter Hell [rendered] contemptible

اَ۬للَّهُ اُ۬لذِے جَعَلَ لَكُمُ اُ۬ليْلَ لِتَسْكُنُواْ فِيهِ وَالنَّهَارَ مُبْصِراًۖ اِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ لَذُو فَضْلٍ عَلَى اَ۬لنَّاسِۖ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَ اَ۬لنَّاسِ لَا يَشْكُرُونَۖ ﰼ

Allâhu lladhî ja‘ala lakumu llayla litaskunû fîhi wannahâra mubsirani nna llâha ladhû fadlin ‘alâ nnâsi walâkinna akthara nnâsi lâ yashkurûn

Allah est celui qui vous a assigné la nuit pour que vous vous y reposiez, et le jour pour y voir clair. Allah est le Pourvoyeur de grâce aux hommes, mais la plupart des gens ne sont pas reconnaissants

It is Allah who made for you the night that you may rest therein and the day giving sight. Indeed, Allah is full of bounty to the people, but most of the people are not grateful

ذَٰلِكُمُ اُ۬للَّهُ رَبُّكُمْۖ خَٰلِقُ كُلِّ شَےْءٖۖ لَّآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَۖ فَأَنّ۪ىٰ تُوفَكُونَۖ ﰽ

Dhâlikumu llâhu rabbukum khâliqu kulli shay'il lâ ilâha illâ huwa fa'annê tûfakûn

Tel est votre Seigneur, Créateur de toute chose. Point de divinité à part Lui. Comment se fait-il que vous vous détourniez (du chemin droit)

That is Allah, your Lord, Creator of all things; there is no deity except Him, so how are you deluded

كَذَٰلِكَ يُوفَكُ اُ۬لذِينَ كَانُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِ اِ۬للَّهِ يَجْحَدُونَۖ ﰾ

Kadhâlika yûfaku lladhîna kânû bi'âyâti llâhi yajhadûn

Ainsi ceux qui nient les prodiges d'Allah se détournent-ils [du chemin droit]

Thus were those [before you] deluded who were rejecting the signs of Allah

اَ۬للَّهُ اُ۬لذِے جَعَلَ لَكُمُ اُ۬لَارْضَ قَرَاراٗ وَالسَّمَآءَ بِنَآءٗ وَصَوَّرَكُمْ فَأَحْسَنَ صُوَرَكُمْ وَرَزَقَكُم مِّنَ اَ۬لطَّيِّبَٰتِۖ ذَٰلِكُمُ اُ۬للَّهُ رَبُّكُمْۖ فَتَبَٰرَكَ اَ۬للَّهُ رَبُّ اُ۬لْعَٰلَمِينَۖ ﰿ

Allâhu lladhî ja‘ala lakumu larda qarâran wassamâ'a binâ'an wasawwarakum fa'ahsana suwarakum warazaqakum mina ttayyibâti dhâlikumu llâhu rabbukum fatabâraka llâhu rabbu l‘âlamîn

C'est Allah qui vous a assigné la terre comme demeure stable et le ciel comme toit et vous a donné votre forme, - et quelle belle forme Il vous a donnée! - et Il vous a nourris de bonnes choses. Tel est Allah, votre Seigneur; gloire à Allah, Seigneur de l'univers

It is Allah who made for you the earth a place of settlement and the sky a ceiling and formed you and perfected your forms and provided you with good things. That is Allah, your Lord; then blessed is Allah, Lord of the worlds

هُوَ اَ۬لْحَيُّۖ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَۖ فَادْعُوهُ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ اُ۬لدِّينَۖ اَ۬لْحَمْدُ لِلهِ رَبِّ اِ۬لْعَٰلَمِينَۖ ﱀ

Huwa lhayyu lâ ilâha illâ huwa fad‘ûhu mukhlisîna lahu ddîna lhamdu lillâhi rabbi l‘âlamîn

C'est Lui le Vivant. Point de divinité à part Lui. Appelez-Le donc, en Lui vouant un culte exclusif. Louange à Allah, Seigneur de l'univers

He is the Ever-Living; there is no deity except Him, so call upon Him, [being] sincere to Him in religion. [All] praise is [due] to Allah, Lord of the worlds

۞ قُلِ اِنِّے نُهِيتُ أَنَ اَعْبُدَ اَ۬لذِينَ تَدْعُونَ مِن دُونِ اِ۬للَّهِ لَمَّا جَآءَنِيَ اَ۬لْبَيِّنَٰتُ مِن رَّبِّے وَأُمِرْتُ أَنُ ا۟سْلِمَ لِرَبِّ اِ۬لْعَٰلَمِينَۖ ﱁ

Quli nnî nuhîtu ana ‘buda lladhîna tad‘ûna min dûni llâhi lammâ jâ'aniya lbayyinâtu mir rabbî wa'umirtu anu uslima lirabbi l‘âlamîn

Dis: «Il m'a été interdit, une fois que les preuves me sont venues de mon Seigneur, d'adorer ceux que vous invoquez en dehors d'Allah, et il m'a été ordonné de me soumettre au Seigneur de l'univers»

Say, [O Muhammad], "Indeed, I have been forbidden to worship those you call upon besides Allah once the clear proofs have come to me from my Lord, and I have been commanded to submit to the Lord of the worlds

هُوَ اَ۬لذِے خَلَقَكُم مِّن تُرَابٖ ثُمَّ مِن نُّطْفَةٖ ثُمَّ مِنْ عَلَقَةٖ ثُمَّ يُخْرِجُكُمْ طِفْلاٗ ثُمَّ لِتَبْلُغُوٓاْ أَشُدَّكُمْ ثُمَّ لِتَكُونُواْ شُيُوخاٗۖ وَمِنكُم مَّنْ يُّتَوَفّ۪ىٰ مِن قَبْلُ وَلِتَبْلُغُوٓاْ أَجَلاٗ مُّسَمّىٗ وَلَعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَۖ ﱂ

Huwa lladhî khalaqakum min turâbin thumma min nutfatin thumma min ‘alaqatin thumma yukhrijukum tiflan thumma litablughû ashuddakum thumma litakûnû shuyûkhan waminkum may yutawaffê min qablu walitablughû ajalam musamman wala‘allakum ta‘qilûn

C'est Lui qui vous a créés de terre, puis d'une goutte sperme, puis d'une adhérence; puis Il vous fait sortir petit enfant pour qu'ensuite vous atteigniez votre maturité et qu'ensuite vous deveniez vieux, - certains parmi vous meurent plus tôt, - et pour que vous atteigniez un terme fixé, afin que vous raisonniez

It is He who created you from dust, then from a sperm-drop, then from a clinging clot; then He brings you out as a child; then [He develops you] that you reach your [time of] maturity, then [further] that you become elders. And among you is he who is taken in death before [that], so that you reach a specified term; and perhaps you will use reason

هُوَ اَ۬لذِے يُحْيِۦ وَيُمِيتُۖ فَإِذَا قَض۪ىٰٓ أَمْراٗ فَإِنَّمَا يَقُولُ لَهُۥ كُنۖ فَيَكُونُۖ ﱃ

Huwa lladhî yuhyî wayumîtu fa'idhâ qadê amran fa'innamâ yaqûlu lahû kun fayakûn

C'est Lui qui donne la vie et donne la mort. Puis quand Il décide une affaire, Il n'a qu'à dire: «Sois», et elle est

He it is who gives life and causes death; and when He decrees a matter, He but says to it, "Be," and it is

أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى اَ۬لذِينَ يُجَٰدِلُونَ فِےٓ ءَايَٰتِ اِ۬للَّهِ أَنّ۪ىٰ يُصْرَفُونَۖ ﱄ

Alam tara ilâ lladhîna yujâdilûna fî âyâti llâhi annê yusrafûn

N'as-tu pas vu comment ceux qui discutent sur les versets d'Allah se laissent détourner

Do you not consider those who dispute concerning the signs of Allah - how are they averted

اَ۬لذِينَ كَذَّبُواْ بِالْكِتَٰبِ وَبِمَآ أَرْسَلْنَا بِهِۦ رُسُلَنَا فَسَوْفَ يَعْلَمُونَ ﱅ

Alladhîna kadhdhabû bilkitâbi wabimâ arsalnâ bihî rusulanâ fasawfa ya‘lamûn

Ceux qui traitent de mensonge le Livre (le Coran) et ce avec quoi Nous avons envoyé Nos Messagers; ils sauront bientôt

Those who deny the Book and that with which We sent Our messengers - they are going to know

إِذِ اِ۬لَاغْلَٰلُ فِےٓ أَعْنَٰقِهِمْ وَالسَّلَٰسِلُۖ يُسْحَبُونَ ﱆ

Idhi laghlâlu fî a‘nâqihim wassalâsilu yushabûn

quand, des carcans à leurs cous et avec des chaînes ils seront traînés

When the shackles are around their necks and the chains; they will be dragged

فِے اِ۬لْحَمِيمِ ثُمَّ فِے اِ۬لنّ۪ارِ يُسْجَرُونَۖ ﱇ

Fî lhamîmi thumma fî nnêri yusjarûn

dans l'eau bouillante; et qu'ensuite ils brûleront dans le Feu

In boiling water; then in the Fire they will be filled [with flame]

ثُمَّ قِيلَ لَهُمُۥٓ أَيْنَ مَا كُنتُمْ تُشْرِكُونَ مِن دُونِ اِ۬للَّهِۖ قَالُواْ ضَلُّواْ عَنَّا بَل لَّمْ نَكُن نَّدْعُواْ مِن قَبْلُ شَئْاٗۖ كَذَٰلِكَ يُضِلُّ اُ۬للَّهُ اُ۬لْكٰ۪فِرِينَۖ ﱈ

Thumma qîla lahumû ayna mâ kuntum tushrikûna min dûni llâhi qâlû dallû ‘annâ bal lam nakun nad‘û min qablu shay'an kadhâlika yudillu llâhu lkêfirîn

Puis on leur dira: «Où sont ceux que vous associez à Allah?» «Ils se sont écartés de nous, diront-ils. Ou plutôt, nous n'invoquions rien, auparavant». Ainsi Allah égare-t-Il les mécréants

Then it will be said to them, "Where is that which you used to associate [with Him in worship] Other than Allah?" They will say, "They have departed from us; rather, we did not used to invoke previously anything." Thus does Allah put astray the disbelievers

ذَٰلِكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَفْرَحُونَ فِے اِ۬لَارْضِ بِغَيْرِ اِ۬لْحَقِّ وَبِمَا كُنتُمْ تَمْرَحُونَۖ ﱉ

Dhâlikum bimâ kuntum tafrahûna fî lardi bighayri lhaqqi wabimâ kuntum tamrahûn

Voilà le prix de votre exultation sur terre, sans raison, ainsi que de votre joie immodérée

[The angels will say], "That was because you used to exult upon the earth without right and you used to behave insolently

اَ۟دْخُلُوٓاْ أَبْوَٰبَ جَهَنَّمَ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَاۖ فَبِيسَ مَثْوَى اَ۬لْمُتَكَبِّرِينَۖ ﱊ

Udkhulû abwâba jahannama khâlidîna fîhâ fabîsa mathwâ lmutakabbirîn

Franchissez les portes de l'Enfer pour y demeurer éternellement. Qu'il est mauvais le lieu de séjour des orgueilleux

Enter the gates of Hell to abide eternally therein, and wretched is the residence of the arrogant

فَاصْبِرِ اِنَّ وَعْدَ اَ۬للَّهِ حَقّٞۖ فَإِمَّا نُرِيَنَّكَ بَعْضَ اَ۬لذِے نَعِدُهُمُۥٓ أَوْ نَتَوَفَّيَنَّكَ فَإِلَيْنَا يُرْجَعُونَۖ ﱋ

Fasbiri nna wa‘da llâhi haqqun fa'immâ nuriyannaka ba‘da lladhî na‘iduhumû aw natawaffayannaka fa'ilaynâ yurja‘ûn

Endure donc. La promesse d'Allah est vraie. Que Nous te montrions une partie de ce dont Nous les menaçons ou que Nous te fassions mourir (avant cela)... c'est vers Nous qu'ils seront ramenés

So be patient, [O Muhammad]; indeed, the promise of Allah is truth. And whether We show you some of what We have promised them or We take you in death, it is to Us they will be returned

وَلَقَدَ اَرْسَلْنَا رُسُلاٗ مِّن قَبْلِكَ مِنْهُم مَّن قَصَصْنَا عَلَيْكَ وَمِنْهُم مَّن لَّمْ نَقْصُصْ عَلَيْكَۖ وَمَا كَانَ لِرَسُولٍ اَنْ يَّاتِيَ بِـَٔايَةٍ اِلَّا بِإِذْنِ اِ۬للَّهِۖ فَإِذَا جَآءَ امْرُ اُ۬للَّهِ قُضِيَ بِالْحَقِّ وَخَسِرَ هُنَالِكَ اَ۬لْمُبْطِلُونَۖ ﱌ

Walaqada rsalnâ rusulam min qablika minhum man qasasnâ ‘alayka waminhum mal lam naqsus ‘alayka wamâ kâna lirasûlina y yâtiya bi'âyatini llâ bi'idhni llâhi fa'idhâ jâ'a âmru llâhi qudiya bilhaqqi wakhasira hunâlika lmubtilûn

Certes, Nous avons envoyé avant toi des Messagers. Il en est dont Nous t'avons raconté l'histoire; et il en est dont Nous ne t'avons pas raconté l'histoire. Et il n'appartient pas à un Messager d'apporter un signe [ou verset] si ce n'est avec la permission d'Allah. Lorsque le commandement d'Allah viendra, tout sera décidé en toute justice; et ceux qui profèrent des mensonges sont alors les perdants

And We have already sent messengers before you. Among them are those [whose stories] We have related to you, and among them are those [whose stories] We have not related to you. And it was not for any messenger to bring a sign [or verse] except by permission of Allah. So when the command of Allah comes, it will be concluded in truth, and the falsifiers will thereupon lose [all]

۞ اَ۬للَّهُ اُ۬لذِے جَعَلَ لَكُمُ اُ۬لَانْعَٰمَ لِتَرْكَبُواْ مِنْهَا وَمِنْهَا تَاكُلُونَۖ ﱍ

Allâhu lladhî ja‘ala lakumu lan‘âma litarkabû minhâ waminhâ tâkulûn

C'est Allah qui vous a fait les bestiaux pour que vous en montiez et que vous en mangiez

It is Allah who made for you the grazing animals upon which you ride, and some of them you eat

وَلَكُمْ فِيهَا مَنَٰفِعُۖ وَلِتَبْلُغُواْ عَلَيْهَا حَاجَةٗ فِے صُدُورِكُمْۖ وَعَلَيْهَا وَعَلَى اَ۬لْفُلْكِ تُحْمَلُونَۖ ﱎ

Walakum fîhâ manâfi‘u walitablughû ‘alayhâ hâjatan fî sudûrikum wa‘alayhâ wa‘alâ lfulki tuhmalûn

et vous y avez des profits et afin que vous atteigniez sur eux une chose nécessaire qui vous tenait à cœur. C'est sur eux et sur les vaisseaux que vous êtes transportés

And for you therein are [other] benefits and that you may realize upon them a need which is in your breasts; and upon them and upon ships you are carried

وَيُرِيكُمُۥٓ ءَايَٰتِهِۦۖ فَأَيَّ ءَايَٰتِ اِ۬للَّهِ تُنكِرُونَۖ ﱏ

Wayurîkumû âyâtihî fa'ayya âyâti llâhi tunkirûn

Et Il vous montre Ses merveilles. Quelles merveilles d'Allah niez-vous donc

And He shows you His signs. So which of the signs of Allah do you deny

أَفَلَمْ يَسِيرُواْ فِے اِ۬لَارْضِ فَيَنظُرُواْ كَيْفَ كَانَ عَٰقِبَةُ اُ۬لذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْۖ كَانُوٓاْ أَكْثَرَ مِنْهُمْ وَأَشَدَّ قُوَّةٗ وَءَاثَاراٗ فِے اِ۬لَارْضِ فَمَآ أَغْن۪ىٰ عَنْهُم مَّا كَانُواْ يَكْسِبُونَۖ ﱐ

Afalam yasîrû fî lardi fayanzurû kayfa kâna ‘âqibatu lladhîna min qablihim kânû akthara minhum wa'ashadda quwwatan wa'âthâran fî lardi famâ aghnê ‘anhum mâ kânû yaksibûn

Ne parcourent-ils donc pas la terre pour voir ce qu'il est advenu de ceux qui étaient avant eux? Ils étaient [pourtant] plus nombreux qu'eux et bien plus puissants et ils [avaient laissé] sur terre beaucoup plus de vestiges. Mais ce qu'ils ont acquis ne leur a servi à rien

Have they not traveled through the land and observed how was the end of those before them? They were more numerous than themselves and greater in strength and in impression on the land, but they were not availed by what they used to earn

فَلَمَّا جَآءَتْهُمْ رُسُلُهُم بِالْبَيِّنَٰتِ فَرِحُواْ بِمَا عِندَهُم مِّنَ اَ۬لْعِلْمِۖ وَحَاقَ بِهِم مَّا كَانُواْ بِهِۦ يَسْتَهْزِءُونَۖ ﱑ

Falammâ jâ'athum rusuluhum bilbayyinâti farihû bimâ ‘indahum mina l‘ilmi wahâqa bihim mâ kânû bihî yastahzi'ûn

Lorsque leurs Messagers leur apportaient les preuves évidentes, ils exultaient des connaissances qu'ils avaient. Et ce dont ils se moquaient les enveloppa

And when their messengers came to them with clear proofs, they [merely] rejoiced in what they had of knowledge, but they were enveloped by what they used to ridicule

فَلَمَّا رَأَوْاْ بَأْسَنَا قَالُوٓاْ ءَامَنَّا بِاللَّهِ وَحْدَهُۥ وَكَفَرْنَا بِمَا كُنَّا بِهِۦ مُشْرِكِينَۖ ﱒ

Falammâ ra'aw ba'sanâ qâlû âmannâ billâhi wahdahû wakafarnâ bimâ kunnâ bihî mushrikîn

Puis, quand ils virent Notre rigueur ils dirent: «Nous croyons en Allah Seul, et nous renions ce que nous Lui donnions comme associés»

And when they saw Our punishment, they said," We believe in Allah alone and disbelieve in that which we used to associate with Him

فَلَمْ يَكُ يَنفَعُهُمُۥٓ إِيمَٰنُهُمْ لَمَّا رَأَوْاْ بَأْسَنَاۖ سُنَّتَ اَ۬للَّهِ اِ۬لتِے قَدْ خَلَتْ فِے عِبَادِهِۦۖ وَخَسِرَ هُنَالِكَ اَ۬لْكَٰفِرُونَۖ ﱓ

Falam yaku yanfa‘uhumû îmânuhum lammâ ra'aw ba'sanâ sunnata llâhi llatî qad khalat fî ‘ibâdihî wakhasira hunâlika lkâfirûn

Mais leur croyance, au moment où ils eurent constaté Notre rigueur, ne leur profita point; Telle est la règle d'Allah envers Ses serviteurs dans le passé. Et c'est là que les mécréants se trouvèrent perdants

But never did their faith benefit them once they saw Our punishment. [It is] the established way of Allah which has preceded among His servants. And the disbelievers thereupon lost [all]
