بَرَآءَةٞ مِّنَ اَ۬للَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦٓ إِلَى اَ۬لذِينَ عَٰهَدتُّم مِّنَ اَ۬لْمُشْرِكِينَۖ ﰀ

Barâ'atum mina llâhi warasûlihî ilâ lladhîna ‘âhadttum mina lmushrikîn

Désaveu de la part d'Allah et de Son messager à l'égard des associateurs avec qui vous avez conclu un pacte

[This is a declaration of] disassociation, from Allah and His Messenger, to those with whom you had made a treaty among the polytheists

فَسِيحُواْ فِے اِ۬لَارْضِ أَرْبَعَةَ أَشْهُرٖۖ وَاعْلَمُوٓاْ أَنَّكُمْ غَيْرُ مُعْجِزِے اِ۬للَّهِ وَأَنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ مُخْزِے اِ۬لْكٰ۪فِرِينَۖ ﰁ

Fasîhû fî lardi arba‘ata ashhurin wa‘lamû annakum ghayru mu‘jizî llâhi wa'anna llâha mukhzî lkêfirîn

Parcourez la terre durant quatre mois; et sachez que vous ne réduirez pas Allah à l'impuissance et qu'Allah couvre d'ignominie les mécréants.»

So travel freely, [O disbelievers], throughout the land [during] four months but know that you cannot cause failure to Allah and that Allah will disgrace the disbelievers

وَأَذَٰنٞ مِّنَ اَ۬للَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦٓ إِلَى اَ۬لنَّاسِ يَوْمَ اَ۬لْحَجِّ اِ۬لَاكْبَرِ أَنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ بَرِےٓءٞ مِّنَ اَ۬لْمُشْرِكِينَ وَرَسُولُهُۥۖ فَإِن تُبْتُمْ فَهُوَ خَيْرٞ لَّكُمْۖ وَإِن تَوَلَّيْتُمْ فَاعْلَمُوٓاْ أَنَّكُمْ غَيْرُ مُعْجِزِے اِ۬للَّهِۖ وَبَشِّرِ اِ۬لذِينَ كَفَرُواْ بِعَذَابٍ اَلِيمٍ ﰂ

Wa'adhânum mina llâhi warasûlihî ilâ nnâsi yawma lhajji lakbari anna llâha barî'um mina lmushrikîna warasûluhû fa'in tubtum fahuwa khayrul lakum wa'in tawallaytum fa‘lamû annakum ghayru mu‘jizî llâhi wabashshiri lladhîna kafarû bi‘adhâbina lîm

Et proclamation aux gens, de la part d'Allah et de Son messager, au jour du Grand Pèlerinage, qu'Allah et Son messager, désavouent les associateurs. Si vous vous repentez, ce sera mieux pour vous. Mais si vous vous détournez, sachez que vous ne réduirez pas Allah à l'impuissance. Et annonce un châtiment douloureux à ceux qui ne croient pas

And [it is] an announcement from Allah and His Messenger to the people on the day of the greater pilgrimage that Allah is disassociated from the disbelievers, and [so is] His Messenger. So if you repent, that is best for you; but if you turn away - then know that you will not cause failure to Allah. And give tidings to those who disbelieve of a painful punishment

اِلَّا اَ۬لذِينَ عَٰهَدتُّم مِّنَ اَ۬لْمُشْرِكِينَ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَنقُصُوكُمْ شَئْاٗ وَلَمْ يُظَٰهِرُواْ عَلَيْكُمُۥٓ أَحَداٗ فَأَتِمُّوٓاْ إِلَيْهِمْ عَهْدَهُمُۥٓ إِلَىٰ مُدَّتِهِمُۥٓۖ إِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ يُحِبُّ اُ۬لْمُتَّقِينَۖ ﰃ

Illâ lladhîna ‘âhadttum mina lmushrikîna thumma lam yanqusûkum shay'an walam yuzâhirû ‘alaykumû ahadan fa'atimmû ilayhim ‘ahdahumû ilâ muddatihimû inna llâha yuhibbu lmuttaqîn

A l'exception des associateurs avec lesquels vous avez conclu un pacte, puis ils ne vous ont manqué en rien, et n'ont soutenu personne [à lutter] contre vous: respectez pleinement le pacte conclu avec eux jusqu'au terme convenu. Allah aime les pieux

Excepted are those with whom you made a treaty among the polytheists and then they have not been deficient toward you in anything or supported anyone against you; so complete for them their treaty until their term [has ended]. Indeed, Allah loves the righteous [who fear Him]

۞ فَإِذَا اَ۪نسَلَخَ اَ۬لَاشْهُرُ اُ۬لْحُرُمُ فَاقْتُلُواْ اُ۬لْمُشْرِكِينَ حَيْثُ وَجَدتُّمُوهُمْ وَخُذُوهُمْ وَاحْصُرُوهُمْ وَاقْعُدُواْ لَهُمْ كُلَّ مَرْصَدٖۖ فَإِن تَابُواْ وَأَقَامُواْ اُ۬لصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتَوُاْ اُ۬لزَّكَوٰةَ فَخَلُّواْ سَبِيلَهُمُۥٓۖ إِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ غَفُورٞ رَّحِيمٞۖ ﰄ

Fa'idhâ nsalakha lashhuru lhurumu faqtulû lmushrikîna haythu wajadttumûhum wakhudhûhum wahsurûhum waq‘udû lahum kulla marsadin fa'in tâbû wa'aqâmû ssalawâta wa'âtawu zzakawâta fakhallû sabîlahumû inna llâha ghafûrur rahîm

Après que les mois sacrés expirent, tuez les associateurs où que vous les trouviez. Capturez-les, assiégez-les et guettez-les dans toute embuscade. Si ensuite ils se repentent, accomplissent la Salât et acquittent la Zakât, alors laissez-leur la voie libre, car Allah est Pardonneur et Miséricordieux

And when the sacred months have passed, then kill the polytheists wherever you find them and capture them and besiege them and sit in wait for them at every place of ambush. But if they should repent, establish prayer, and give zakah, let them [go] on their way. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful

وَإِنَ اَحَدٞ مِّنَ اَ۬لْمُشْرِكِينَ اَ۪سْتَجَارَكَ فَأَجِرْهُ حَتَّىٰ يَسْمَعَ كَلَٰمَ اَ۬للَّهِ ثُمَّ أَبْلِغْهُ مَامَنَهُۥۖ ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ قَوْمٞ لَّا يَعْلَمُونَۖ ﰅ

Wa'ina hadum mina lmushrikîna stajâraka fa'ajirhu hattâ yasma‘a kalâma llâhi thumma ablighhu mâmanahû dhâlika bi'annahum qawmul lâ ya‘lamûn

Et si l'un des associateurs te demande asile, accorde-le lui, afin qu'il entende la parole d'Allah, puis fais-le parvenir à son lieu de sécurité. Car ce sont des gens qui ne savent pas

And if any one of the polytheists seeks your protection, then grant him protection so that he may hear the words of Allah. Then deliver him to his place of safety. That is because they are a people who do not know

كَيْفَ يَكُونُ لِلْمُشْرِكِينَ عَهْدٌ عِندَ اَ۬للَّهِ وَعِندَ رَسُولِهِۦٓ إِلَّا اَ۬لذِينَ عَٰهَدتُّمْ عِندَ اَ۬لْمَسْجِدِ اِ۬لْحَرَامِ فَمَا اَ۪سْتَقَٰمُواْ لَكُمْ فَاسْتَقِيمُواْ لَهُمُۥٓۖ إِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ يُحِبُّ اُ۬لْمُتَّقِينَۖ ﰆ

Kayfa yakûnu lilmushrikîna ‘ahdun ‘inda llâhi wa‘inda rasûlihî illâ lladhîna ‘âhadttum ‘inda lmasjidi lharâmi famâ staqâmû lakum fastaqîmû lahumû inna llâha yuhibbu lmuttaqîn

Comment y aurait-il pour les associateurs un pacte admis par Allah et par Son messager? A l'exception de ceux avec lesquels vous avez conclu un pacte près de la Mosquée sacrée. Tant qu'ils sont droits envers vous, soyez droits envers eux. Car Allah aime les pieux

How can there be for the polytheists a treaty in the sight of Allah and with His Messenger, except for those with whom you made a treaty at al-Masjid al-Haram? So as long as they are upright toward you, be upright toward them. Indeed, Allah loves the righteous [who fear Him]

كَيْفَ وَإِنْ يَّظْهَرُواْ عَلَيْكُمْ لَا يَرْقُبُواْ فِيكُمُۥٓ إِلّاٗ وَلَا ذِمَّةٗۖ يُرْضُونَكُم بِأَفْوَٰهِهِمْ وَتَاب۪ىٰ قُلُوبُهُمْ وَأَكْثَرُهُمْ فَٰسِقُونَۖ ﰇ

Kayfa wa'iy yazharû ‘alaykum lâ yarqubû fîkumû illan walâ dhimmatan yurdûnakum bi'afwâhihim watâbê qulûbuhum wa'aktharuhum fâsiqûn

Comment donc! Quand ils triomphent de vous, ils ne respectent à votre égard, ni parenté ni pacte conclu. Ils vous satisfont de leurs bouches, tandis que leurs cœurs se refusent; et la plupart d'entre eux sont des pervers

How [can there be a treaty] while, if they gain dominance over you, they do not observe concerning you any pact of kinship or covenant of protection? They satisfy you with their mouths, but their hearts refuse [compliance], and most of them are defiantly disobedient

اَ۪شْتَرَوْاْ بِـَٔايَٰتِ اِ۬للَّهِ ثَمَناٗ قَلِيلاٗ فَصَدُّواْ عَن سَبِيلِهِۦٓۖ إِنَّهُمْ سَآءَ مَا كَانُواْ يَعْمَلُونَۖ ﰈ

Ashtaraw bi'âyâti llâhi thamanan qalîlan fasaddû ‘an sabîlihî innahum sâ'a mâ kânû ya‘malûn

Ils troquent à vil prix les versets d'Allah (le Coran) et obstruent Son chemin. Ce qu'ils font est très mauvais

They have exchanged the signs of Allah for a small price and averted [people] from His way. Indeed, it was evil that they were doing

لَا يَرْقُبُونَ فِے مُومِنٍ اِلّاٗ وَلَا ذِمَّةٗۖ وَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ اُ۬لْمُعْتَدُونَۖ ﰉ

Lâ yarqubûna fî mûminini llan walâ dhimmatan wa'ulâ'ika humu lmu‘tadûn

Ils ne respectent, à l'égard d'un croyant, ni parenté ni pacte conclu. Et ceux-là sont les transgresseurs

They do not observe toward a believer any pact of kinship or covenant of protection. And it is they who are the transgressors

فَإِن تَابُواْ وَأَقَامُواْ اُ۬لصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتَوُاْ اُ۬لزَّكَوٰةَ فَإِخْوَٰنُكُمْ فِے اِ۬لدِّينِۖ وَنُفَصِّلُ اُ۬لَايَٰتِ لِقَوْمٖ يَعْلَمُونَۖ ﰊ

Fa'in tâbû wa'aqâmû ssalawâta wa'âtawu zzakawâta fa'ikhwânukum fî ddîni wanufassilu layâti liqawmin ya‘lamûn

Mais s'ils se repentent, accomplissent la Salât et acquittent la Zakat, ils deviendront vos frères en religion. Nous exposons intelligiblement les versets pour des gens qui savent

But if they repent, establish prayer, and give zakah, then they are your brothers in religion; and We detail the verses for a people who know

۞ وَإِن نَّكَثُوٓاْ أَيْمَٰنَهُم مِّنۢ بَعْدِ عَهْدِهِمْ وَطَعَنُواْ فِے دِينِكُمْ فَقَٰتِلُوٓاْ أَي۪مَّةَ اَ۬لْكُفْرِۖ إِنَّهُمْ لَآ أَيْمَٰنَ لَهُمْ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَنتَهُونَۖ ﰋ

Wa'in nakathû aymânahum mim ba‘di ‘ahdihim wata‘anû fî dînikum faqâtilû ayemmata lkufri innahum lâ aymâna lahum la‘allahum yantahûn

Et si, après le pacte, ils violent leurs serments et attaquent votre religion, combattez alors les chefs de la mécréance - car, ils ne tiennent aucun serment - peut-être cesseront-ils

And if they break their oaths after their treaty and defame your religion, then fight the leaders of disbelief, for indeed, there are no oaths [sacred] to them; [fight them that] they might cease

أَلَا تُقَٰتِلُونَ قَوْماٗ نَّكَثُوٓاْ أَيْمَٰنَهُمْ وَهَمُّواْ بِإِخْرَاجِ اِ۬لرَّسُولِ وَهُم بَدَءُوكُمُۥٓ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٍ اَتَخْشَوْنَهُمْۖ فَاللَّهُ أَحَقُّ أَن تَخْشَوْهُ إِن كُنتُم مُّومِنِينَۖ ﰌ

Alâ tuqâtilûna qawman nakathû aymânahum wahammû bi'ikhrâji rrasûli wahum bada'ûkumû awwala marratina takhshawnahum fallâhu ahaqqu an takhshawhu in kuntum mûminîn

Ne combattrez-vous pas des gens qui ont violé leurs serments, qui ont voulu bannir le Messager et alors que ce sont eux qui vous ont attaqués les premiers? Les redoutiez-vous? C'est Allah qui est plus digne de votre crainte si vous êtes croyants

Would you not fight a people who broke their oaths and determined to expel the Messenger, and they had begun [the attack upon] you the first time? Do you fear them? But Allah has more right that you should fear Him, if you are [truly] believers

قَٰتِلُوهُمْ يُعَذِّبْهُمُ اُ۬للَّهُ بِأَيْدِيكُمْ وَيُخْزِهِمْ وَيَنصُرْكُمْ عَلَيْهِمْ وَيَشْفِ صُدُورَ قَوْمٖ مُّومِنِينَ ﰍ

Qâtilûhum yu‘adhdhibhumu llâhu bi'aydîkum wayukhzihim wayansurkum ‘alayhim wayashfi sudûra qawmim mûminîn

Combattez-les. Allah, par vos mains, les châtiera, les couvrira d'ignominie, vous donnera la victoire sur eux et guérira les poitrines d'un peuple croyant

Fight them; Allah will punish them by your hands and will disgrace them and give you victory over them and satisfy the breasts of a believing people

وَيُذْهِبْ غَيْظَ قُلُوبِهِمْۖ وَيَتُوبُ اُ۬للَّهُ عَلَىٰ مَنْ يَّشَآءُۖ وَاللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٌۖ ﰎ

Wayudhhib ghayza qulûbihim wayatûbu llâhu ‘alâ may yashâ'u wallâhu ‘alîmun hakîm

Et il fera partir la colère de leurs cœurs. Allah accueille le repentir de qui Il veut. Allah est Omniscient et Sage

And remove the fury in the believers' hearts. And Allah turns in forgiveness to whom He wills; and Allah is Knowing and Wise

اَمْ حَسِبْتُمُۥٓ أَن تُتْرَكُواْ وَلَمَّا يَعْلَمِ اِ۬للَّهُ اُ۬لذِينَ جَٰهَدُواْ مِنكُمْ وَلَمْ يَتَّخِذُواْ مِن دُونِ اِ۬للَّهِ وَلَا رَسُولِهِۦ وَلَا اَ۬لْمُومِنِينَ وَلِيجَةٗۖ وَاللَّهُ خَبِيرُۢ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَۖ ﰏ

Am hasibtumû an tutrakû walammâ ya‘lami llâhu lladhîna jâhadû minkum walam yattakhidhû min dûni llâhi walâ rasûlihî walâ lmûminîna walîjatan wallâhu khabîrum bimâ ta‘malûn

Pensez-vous que vous serez délaissés, cependant qu'Allah n'a pas encore distingué ceux d'entre vous qui ont lutté et qui n'ont pas cherché des alliés en dehors d'Allah, de Son messager et des croyants? Et Allah est Parfaitement Connaisseur de ce que vous faites

Do you think that you will be left [as you are] while Allah has not yet made evident those among you who strive [for His cause] and do not take other than Allah, His Messenger and the believers as intimates? And Allah is Acquainted with what you do

مَا كَانَ لِلْمُشْرِكِينَ أَنْ يَّعْمُرُواْ مَسَٰجِدَ اَ۬للَّهِ شَٰهِدِينَ عَلَىٰٓ أَنفُسِهِم بِالْكُفْرِۖ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ حَبِطَتَ اَعْمَٰلُهُمْ وَفِے اِ۬لنّ۪ارِ هُمْ خَٰلِدُونَۖ ﰐ

Mâ kâna lilmushrikîna ay ya‘murû masâjida llâhi shâhidîna ‘alâ anfusihim bilkufri ulâ'ika habitata ‘mâluhum wafî nnêri hum khâlidûn

Il n'appartient pas aux associateurs de peupler les mosquées d'Allah, vu qu'ils témoignent contre eux-mêmes de leur mécréance. Voilà ceux dont les œuvres sont vaines; et dans le Feu ils demeureront éternellement

It is not for the polytheists to maintain the mosques of Allah [while] witnessing against themselves with disbelief. [For] those, their deeds have become worthless, and in the Fire they will abide eternally

إِنَّمَا يَعْمُرُ مَسَٰجِدَ اَ۬للَّهِ مَنَ اٰمَنَ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ اِ۬لَاخِرِ وَأَقَامَ اَ۬لصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتَى اَ۬لزَّكَوٰةَ وَلَمْ يَخْشَ إِلَّا اَ۬للَّهَ فَعَس۪ىٰٓ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ أَنْ يَّكُونُواْ مِنَ اَ۬لْمُهْتَدِينَۖ ﰑ

Innamâ ya‘muru masâjida llâhi mana âmana billâhi walyawmi lakhiri wa'aqâma ssalawâta wa'âtâ zzakawâta walam yakhsha illâ llâha fa‘asê ulâ'ika ay yakûnû mina lmuhtadîn

Ne peupleront les mosquées d'Allah que ceux qui croient en Allah et au Jour dernier, accomplissent la Salât, acquittent la Zakât et ne craignent qu'Allah. Il se peut que ceux-là soient du nombre des bien-guidés

The mosques of Allah are only to be maintained by those who believe in Allah and the Last Day and establish prayer and give zakah and do not fear except Allah, for it is expected that those will be of the [rightly] guided

۞ أَجَعَلْتُمْ سِقَايَةَ اَ۬لْحَآجِّ وَعِمَارَةَ اَ۬لْمَسْجِدِ اِ۬لْحَرَامِ كَمَنَ اٰمَنَ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ اِ۬لَاخِرِ وَجَٰهَدَ فِے سَبِيلِ اِ۬للَّهِۖ لَا يَسْتَوُۥنَ عِندَ اَ۬للَّهِۖ وَاللَّهُ لَا يَهْدِے اِ۬لْقَوْمَ اَ۬لظَّٰلِمِينَۖ ﰒ

Aja‘altum siqâyata lhâjji wa‘imârata lmasjidi lharâmi kamana âmana billâhi walyawmi lakhiri wajâhada fî sabîli llâhi lâ yastawûna ‘inda llâhi wallâhu lâ yahdî lqawma zzâlimîn

Ferez-vous de la charge de donner à boire aux pèlerins et d'entretenir la Mosquée sacrée (des devoirs) comparables [au mérite] de celui qui croit en Allah et au Jour dernier et lutte dans le sentier d'Allah? Ils ne sont pas égaux auprès d'Allah et Allah ne guide pas les gens injustes

Have you made the providing of water for the pilgrim and the maintenance of al-Masjid al-Haram equal to [the deeds of] one who believes in Allah and the Last Day and strives in the cause of Allah? They are not equal in the sight of Allah. And Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people

اَ۬لذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ وَهَاجَرُواْ وَجَٰهَدُواْ فِے سَبِيلِ اِ۬للَّهِ بِأَمْوَٰلِهِمْ وَأَنفُسِهِمُۥٓ أَعْظَمُ دَرَجَةً عِندَ اَ۬للَّهِۖ وَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ اُ۬لْفَآئِزُونَۖ ﰓ

Alladhîna âmanû wahâjarû wajâhadû fî sabîli llâhi bi'amwâlihim wa'anfusihimû a‘zamu darajatan ‘inda llâhi wa'ulâ'ika humu lfâ'izûn

Ceux qui ont cru, qui ont émigré et qui ont lutté par leurs biens et leurs personnes dans le sentier d'Allah, ont les plus hauts rangs auprès d'Allah... et ce sont eux les victorieux

The ones who have believed, emigrated and striven in the cause of Allah with their wealth and their lives are greater in rank in the sight of Allah. And it is those who are the attainers [of success]

يُبَشِّرُهُمْ رَبُّهُم بِرَحْمَةٖ مِّنْهُ وَرِضْوَٰنٖ وَجَنَّٰتٖ لَّهُمْ فِيهَا نَعِيمٞ مُّقِيمٌ ﰔ

Yubashshiruhum rabbuhum birahmatim minhu waridwânin wajannâtil lahum fîhâ na‘îmum muqîm

Leur Seigneur leur annonce de Sa part, miséricorde et agrément, et des Jardins où il y aura pour eux un délice permanent

Their Lord gives them good tidings of mercy from Him and approval and of gardens for them wherein is enduring pleasure

خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ أَبَداًۖ اِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ عِندَهُۥٓ أَجْرٌ عَظِيمٞۖ ﰕ

Khâlidîna fîhâ abadani nna llâha ‘indahû ajrun ‘azîm

où ils demeureront éternellement. Certes il y a auprès d'Allah une énorme récompense

[They will be] abiding therein forever. Indeed, Allah has with Him a great reward

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا اَ۬لذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ لَا تَتَّخِذُوٓاْ ءَابَآءَكُمْ وَإِخْوَٰنَكُمُۥٓ أَوْلِيَآءَ ا۪نِ اِ۪سْتَحَبُّواْ اُ۬لْكُفْرَ عَلَى اَ۬لِايمَٰنِۖ وَمَنْ يَّتَوَلَّهُم مِّنكُمْ فَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ اُ۬لظَّٰلِمُونَۖ ﰖ

Yâ'ayyuhâ lladhîna âmanû lâ tattakhidhû âbâ'akum wa'ikhwânakumû awliyâ'a ni stahabbû lkufra ‘alâ lîmâni wamay yatawallahum minkum fa'ulâ'ika humu zzâlimûn

O vous qui croyez! Ne prenez pas pour alliés, vos pères et vos frères s'ils préfèrent la mécréance à la foi. Et quiconque parmi vous les prend pour alliés... ceux-là sont les injustes

O you who have believed, do not take your fathers or your brothers as allies if they have preferred disbelief over belief. And whoever does so among you - then it is those who are the wrongdoers

قُلِ اِن كَانَ ءَابَآؤُكُمْ وَأَبْنَآؤُكُمْ وَإِخْوَٰنُكُمْ وَأَزْوَٰجُكُمْ وَعَشِيرَتُكُمْ وَأَمْوَٰلٌ اِ۪قْتَرَفْتُمُوهَا وَتِجَٰرَةٞ تَخْشَوْنَ كَسَادَهَا وَمَسَٰكِنُ تَرْضَوْنَهَآ أَحَبَّ إِلَيْكُم مِّنَ اَ۬للَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ وَجِهَادٖ فِے سَبِيلِهِۦ فَتَرَبَّصُواْ حَتَّىٰ يَاتِيَ اَ۬للَّهُ بِأَمْرِهِۦۖ وَاللَّهُ لَا يَهْدِے اِ۬لْقَوْمَ اَ۬لْفَٰسِقِينَۖ ﰗ

Quli n kâna âbâ'ukum wa'abnâ'ukum wa'ikhwânukum wa'azwâjukum wa‘ashîratukum wa'amwâluni qtaraftumûhâ watijâratun takhshawna kasâdahâ wamasâkinu tardawnahâ ahabba ilaykum mina llâhi warasûlihî wajihâdin fî sabîlihî fatarabbasû hattâ yâtiya llâhu bi'amrihî wallâhu lâ yahdî lqawma lfâsiqîn

Dis: «Si vos pères, vos enfants, vos frères, vos épouses, vos clans, les biens que vous gagnez, le négoce dont vous craignez le déclin et les demeures qui vous sont agréables, vous sont plus chers qu'Allah, Son messager et la lutte dans le sentier d'Allah, alors attendez qu'Allah fasse venir Son ordre. Et Allah ne guide pas les gens pervers»

Say, [O Muhammad], "If your fathers, your sons, your brothers, your wives, your relatives, wealth which you have obtained, commerce wherein you fear decline, and dwellings with which you are pleased are more beloved to you than Allah and His Messenger and jihad in His cause, then wait until Allah executes His command. And Allah does not guide the defiantly disobedient people

لَقَدْ نَصَرَكُمُ اُ۬للَّهُ فِے مَوَاطِنَ كَثِيرَةٖ وَيَوْمَ حُنَيْنٍ اِذَ اَعْجَبَتْكُمْ كَثْرَتُكُمْ فَلَمْ تُغْنِ عَنكُمْ شَئْاٗ وَضَاقَتْ عَلَيْكُمُ اُ۬لَارْضُ بِمَا رَحُبَتْ ثُمَّ وَلَّيْتُم مُّدْبِرِينَۖ ﰘ

Laqad nasarakumu llâhu fî mawâtina kathîratin wayawma hunaynini dha ‘jabatkum kathratukum falam tughni ‘ankum shay'an wadâqat ‘alaykumu lardu bimâ rahubat thumma wallaytum mudbirîn

Allah vous a déjà secourus en maints endroits. Et [rappelez-vous] le jour de Hunayn, quand vous étiez fiers de votre grand nombre et que cela ne vous a servi à rien. La terre, malgré son étendue vous devint bien étroite; puis vous avez tourné le dos en fuyards

Allah has already given you victory in many regions and [even] on the day of Hunayn, when your great number pleased you, but it did not avail you at all, and the earth was confining for you with its vastness; then you turned back, fleeing

ثُمَّ أَنزَلَ اَ۬للَّهُ سَكِينَتَهُۥ عَلَىٰ رَسُولِهِۦ وَعَلَى اَ۬لْمُومِنِينَ وَأَنزَلَ جُنُوداٗ لَّمْ تَرَوْهَا وَعَذَّبَ اَ۬لذِينَ كَفَرُواْۖ وَذَٰلِكَ جَزَآءُ اُ۬لْكٰ۪فِرِينَۖ ﰙ

Thumma anzala llâhu sakînatahû ‘alâ rasûlihî wa‘alâ lmûminîna wa'anzala junûdal lam tarawhâ wa‘adhdhaba lladhîna kafarû wadhâlika jazâ'u lkêfirîn

Puis, Allah fit descendre Sa quiétude [Sa «sakîna»] sur Son messager et sur les croyants. Il fit descendre des troupes (Anges) que vous ne voyiez pas, et châtia ceux qui ont mécru. Telle est la rétribution des mécréants

Then Allah sent down His tranquillity upon His Messenger and upon the believers and sent down soldiers angels whom you did not see and punished those who disbelieved. And that is the recompense of the disbelievers

ثُمَّ يَتُوبُ اُ۬للَّهُ مِنۢ بَعْدِ ذَٰلِكَ عَلَىٰ مَنْ يَّشَآءُۖ وَاللَّهُ غَفُورٞ رَّحِيمٞۖ ﰚ

Thumma yatûbu llâhu mim ba‘di dhâlika ‘alâ may yashâ'u wallâhu ghafûrur rahîm

Après cela Allah, accueillera le repentir de qui Il veut, car Allah est Pardonneur et Miséricordieux

Then Allah will accept repentance after that for whom He wills; and Allah is Forgiving and Merciful

۞ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا اَ۬لذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ إِنَّمَا اَ۬لْمُشْرِكُونَ نَجَسٞ فَلَا يَقْرَبُواْ اُ۬لْمَسْجِدَ اَ۬لْحَرَامَ بَعْدَ عَامِهِمْ هَٰذَاۖ وَإِنْ خِفْتُمْ عَيْلَةٗ فَسَوْفَ يُغْنِيكُمُ اُ۬للَّهُ مِن فَضْلِهِۦٓ إِن شَآءَۖ ا۪نَّ اَ۬للَّهَ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٞۖ ﰛ

Yâ'ayyuhâ lladhîna âmanû innamâ lmushrikûna najasun falâ yaqrabû lmasjida lharâma ba‘da ‘âmihim hâdhâ wa'in khiftum ‘aylatan fasawfa yughnîkumu llâhu min fadlihî in shâ'a nna llâha ‘alîmun hakîm

O vous qui croyez! Les associateurs ne sont qu'impureté: qu'ils ne s'approchent plus de la Mosquée sacrée, après cette année-ci. Et si vous redoutez une pénurie, Allah vous enrichira, s'Il veut, de par Sa grâce. Car Allah est Omniscient et Sage

O you who have believed, indeed the polytheists are unclean, so let them not approach al-Masjid al-Haram after this, their [final] year. And if you fear privation, Allah will enrich you from His bounty if He wills. Indeed, Allah is Knowing and Wise

قَٰتِلُواْ اُ۬لذِينَ لَا يُومِنُونَ بِاللَّهِ وَلَا بِالْيَوْمِ اِ۬لَاخِرِ وَلَا يُحَرِّمُونَ مَا حَرَّمَ اَ۬للَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُۥ وَلَا يَدِينُونَ دِينَ اَ۬لْحَقِّ مِنَ اَ۬لذِينَ أُوتُواْ اُ۬لْكِتَٰبَ حَتَّىٰ يُعْطُواْ اُ۬لْجِزْيَةَ عَنْ يَّدٖ وَهُمْ صَٰغِرُونَۖ ﰜ

Qâtilû lladhîna lâ yûminûna billâhi walâ bilyawmi lakhiri walâ yuharrimûna mâ harrama llâhu warasûluhû walâ yadînûna dîna lhaqqi mina lladhîna ûtû lkitâba hattâ yu‘tû ljizyata ‘ay yadin wahum sâghirûn

Combattez ceux qui ne croient ni en Allah ni au Jour dernier, qui n'interdisent pas ce qu'Allah et Son messager ont interdit et qui ne professent pas la religion de la vérité, parmi ceux qui ont reçu le Livre, jusqu'à ce qu'ils versent la capitation par leurs propres mains, après s'être humiliés

Fight those who do not believe in Allah or in the Last Day and who do not consider unlawful what Allah and His Messenger have made unlawful and who do not adopt the religion of truth from those who were given the Scripture - [fight] until they give the jizyah willingly while they are humbled

وَقَالَتِ اِ۬لْيَهُودُ عُزَيْرُ اُ۪بْنُ اُ۬للَّهِۖ وَقَالَتِ اِ۬لنَّصَٰرَى اَ۬لْمَسِيحُ اُ۪بْنُ اُ۬للَّهِۖ ذَٰلِكَ قَوْلُهُم بِأَفْوَٰهِهِمْ يُضَٰهُونَ قَوْلَ اَ۬لذِينَ كَفَرُواْ مِن قَبْلُۖ قَٰتَلَهُمُ اُ۬للَّهُۖ أَنّ۪ىٰ يُوفَكُونَۖ ﰝ

Waqâlati lyahûdu ‘uzayru bnu llâhi waqâlati nnasârâ lmasîhu bnu llâhi dhâlika qawluhum bi'afwâhihim yudâhûna qawla lladhîna kafarû min qablu qâtalahumu llâhu annê yûfakûn

Les Juifs disent: «'Uzayr est fils d'Allah» et les Chrétiens disent: «Le Christ est fils d'Allah». Telle est leur parole provenant de leurs bouches. Ils imitent le dire des mécréants avant eux. Qu'Allah les anéantisse! Comment s'écartent-ils (de la vérité)

The Jews say, "Ezra is the son of Allah "; and the Christians say, "The Messiah is the son of Allah." That is their statement from their mouths; they imitate the saying of those who disbelieved [before them]. May Allah destroy them; how are they deluded

اَ۪تَّخَذُوٓاْ أَحْبَارَهُمْ وَرُهْبَٰنَهُمُۥٓ أَرْبَاباٗ مِّن دُونِ اِ۬للَّهِ وَالْمَسِيحَ اَ۪بْنَ مَرْيَمَۖ وَمَآ أُمِرُوٓاْ إِلَّا لِيَعْبُدُوٓاْ إِلَٰهاٗ وَٰحِداٗۖ لَّآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَۖ سُبْحَٰنَهُۥ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَۖ ﰞ

Attakhadhû ahbârahum waruhbânahumû arbâbam min dûni llâhi walmasîha bna maryama wamâ umirû illâ liya‘budû ilâhan wâhidal lâ ilâha illâ huwa subhânahû ‘ammâ yushrikûn

Ils ont pris leurs rabbins et leurs moines, ainsi que le Christ fils de Marie, comme Seigneurs en dehors d'Allah, alors qu'on ne leur a commandé que d'adorer un Dieu unique. Pas de divinité à part Lui! Gloire à Lui! Il est au-dessus de ce qu'ils [Lui] associent

They have taken their scholars and monks as lords besides Allah, and [also] the Messiah, the son of Mary. And they were not commanded except to worship one God; there is no deity except Him. Exalted is He above whatever they associate with Him

يُرِيدُونَ أَنْ يُّطْفِـُٔواْ نُورَ اَ۬للَّهِ بِأَفْوَٰهِهِمْ وَيَابَى اَ۬للَّهُ إِلَّآ أَنْ يُّتِمَّ نُورَهُۥ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ اَ۬لْكَٰفِرُونَۖ ﰟ

Yurîdûna ay yutfi'û nûra llâhi bi'afwâhihim wayâbâ llâhu illâ ay yutimma nûrahû walaw kariha lkâfirûn

Ils veulent éteindre avec leurs bouches la lumière d'Allah, alors qu'Allah ne veut que parachever Sa lumière, quelque répulsion qu'en aient les mécréants

They want to extinguish the light of Allah with their mouths, but Allah refuses except to perfect His light, although the disbelievers dislike it

هُوَ اَ۬لذِےٓ أَرْسَلَ رَسُولَهُۥ بِالْهُد۪ىٰ وَدِينِ اِ۬لْحَقِّ لِيُظْهِرَهُۥ عَلَى اَ۬لدِّينِ كُلِّهِۦ وَلَوْ كَرِهَ اَ۬لْمُشْرِكُونَۖ ﰠ

Huwa lladhî arsala rasûlahû bilhudê wadîni lhaqqi liyuzhirahû ‘alâ ddîni kullihî walaw kariha lmushrikûn

C'est Lui qui a envoyé Son messager avec la bonne direction et la religion de la vérité, afin qu'elle triomphe sur toute autre religion, quelque répulsion qu'en aient les associateurs

It is He who has sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of truth to manifest it over all religion, although they who associate others with Allah dislike it

۞ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا اَ۬لذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ إِنَّ كَثِيراٗ مِّنَ اَ۬لَاحْب۪ارِ وَالرُّهْبَانِ لَيَاكُلُونَ أَمْوَٰلَ اَ۬لنَّاسِ بِالْبَٰطِلِ وَيَصُدُّونَ عَن سَبِيلِ اِ۬للَّهِۖ وَالذِينَ يَكْنِزُونَ اَ۬لذَّهَبَ وَالْفِضَّةَ وَلَا يُنفِقُونَهَا فِے سَبِيلِ اِ۬للَّهِ فَبَشِّرْهُم بِعَذَابٍ اَلِيمٖۖ ﰡ

Yâ'ayyuhâ lladhîna âmanû inna kathîram mina lahbêri warruhbâni layâkulûna amwâla nnâsi bilbâtili wayasuddûna ‘an sabîli llâhi walladhîna yaknizûna dhdhahaba walfiddata walâ yunfiqûnahâ fî sabîli llâhi fabashshirhum bi‘adhâbina lîm

O vous qui croyez! Beaucoup de rabbins et de moines dévorent, les biens des gens illégalement et [leur] obstruent le sentier d'Allah. A ceux qui thésaurisent l'or et l'argent et ne les dépensent pas dans le sentier d'Allah, annonce un châtiment douloureux

O you who have believed, indeed many of the scholars and the monks devour the wealth of people unjustly and avert [them] from the way of Allah. And those who hoard gold and silver and spend it not in the way of Allah - give them tidings of a painful punishment

يَوْمَ يُحْم۪ىٰ عَلَيْهَا فِے ن۪ارِ جَهَنَّمَ فَتُكْو۪ىٰ بِهَا جِبَاهُهُمْ وَجُنُوبُهُمْ وَظُهُورُهُمْ هَٰذَا مَا كَنَزْتُمْ لِأَنفُسِكُمْ فَذُوقُواْ مَا كُنتُمْ تَكْنِزُونَۖ ﰢ

Yawma yuhmê ‘alayhâ fî nêri jahannama fatukwê bihâ jibâhuhum wajunûbuhum wazuhûruhum hâdhâ mâ kanaztum li'anfusikum fadhûqû mâ kuntum taknizûn

le jour où (ces trésors) seront portés à l'incandescence dans le feu de l'Enfer et qu'ils en seront cautérisés, front, flancs et dos: voici ce que vous avez thésaurisé pour vous-mêmes. Goûtez de ce que vous thésaurisiez.»

The Day when it will be heated in the fire of Hell and seared therewith will be their foreheads, their flanks, and their backs, [it will be said], "This is what you hoarded for yourselves, so taste what you used to hoard

إِنَّ عِدَّةَ اَ۬لشُّهُورِ عِندَ اَ۬للَّهِ اِ۪ثْنَا عَشَرَ شَهْراٗ فِے كِتَٰبِ اِ۬للَّهِ يَوْمَ خَلَقَ اَ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالَارْضَۖ مِنْهَآ أَرْبَعَةٌ حُرُمٞۖ ذَٰلِكَ اَ۬لدِّينُ اُ۬لْقَيِّمُۖ فَلَا تَظْلِمُواْ فِيهِنَّ أَنفُسَكُمْۖ وَقَٰتِلُواْ اُ۬لْمُشْرِكِينَ كَآفَّةٗ كَمَا يُقَٰتِلُونَكُمْ كَآفَّةٗۖ وَاعْلَمُوٓاْ أَنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ مَعَ اَ۬لْمُتَّقِينَۖ ﰣ

Inna ‘iddata shshuhûri ‘inda llâhi thnâ ‘ashara shahran fî kitâbi llâhi yawma khalaqa ssamâwâti walarda minhâ arba‘atun hurumun dhâlika ddînu lqayyimu falâ tazlimû fîhinna anfusakum waqâtilû lmushrikîna kâffatan kamâ yuqâtilûnakum kâffatan wa‘lamû anna llâha ma‘a lmuttaqîn

Le nombre de mois, auprès d'Allah, est de douze [mois], dans la prescription d'Allah, le jour où Il créa les cieux et la terre. Quatre d'entre eux sont sacrés: telle est la religion droite. [Durant ces mois], ne faites pas de tort à vous-mêmes. Combattez les associateurs sans exception, comme ils vous combattent sans exception. Et sachez qu'Allah est avec les pieux

Indeed, the number of months with Allah is twelve [lunar] months in the register of Allah [from] the day He created the heavens and the earth; of these, four are sacred. That is the correct religion, so do not wrong yourselves during them. And fight against the disbelievers collectively as they fight against you collectively. And know that Allah is with the righteous [who fear Him]

إِنَّمَا اَ۬لنَّسِيُّ زِيَادَةٞ فِے اِ۬لْكُفْرِ يَضِلُّ بِهِ اِ۬لذِينَ كَفَرُواْ يُحِلُّونَهُۥ عَاماٗ وَيُحَرِّمُونَهُۥ عَاماٗ لِّيُوَاطِـُٔواْ عِدَّةَ مَا حَرَّمَ اَ۬للَّهُ فَيُحِلُّواْ مَا حَرَّمَ اَ۬للَّهُۖ زُيِّنَ لَهُمْ سُوٓءُ اَ۬عْمَٰلِهِمْۖ وَاللَّهُ لَا يَهْدِے اِ۬لْقَوْمَ اَ۬لْكٰ۪فِرِينَۖ ﰤ

Innamâ nnasiyyu ziyâdatun fî lkufri yadillu bihi lladhîna kafarû yuhillûnahû ‘âman wayuharrimûnahû ‘âmal liyuwâti'û ‘iddata mâ harrama llâhu fayuhillû mâ harrama llâhu zuyyina lahum sû'u ‘mâlihim wallâhu lâ yahdî lqawma lkêfirîn

Le report d'un mois sacré à un autre est un surcroît de mécréance. Par là, les mécréants sont égarés: une année, ils le font profane, et une année, ils le font sacré, afin d'ajuster le nombre de mois qu'Allah a fait sacrés. Ainsi rendent-ils profane ce qu'Allah a fait sacré. Leurs méfaits leurs sont enjolivés. Et Allah ne guide pas les gens mécréants

Indeed, the postponing [of restriction within sacred months] is an increase in disbelief by which those who have disbelieved are led [further] astray. They make it lawful one year and unlawful another year to correspond to the number made unlawful by Allah and [thus] make lawful what Allah has made unlawful. Made pleasing to them is the evil of their deeds; and Allah does not guide the disbelieving people

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا اَ۬لذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ مَا لَكُمُۥٓ إِذَا قِيلَ لَكُمُ اُ۪نفِرُواْ فِے سَبِيلِ اِ۬للَّهِ اِ۪ثَّاقَلْتُمُۥٓ إِلَى اَ۬لَارْضِۖ أَرَضِيتُم بِالْحَيَوٰةِ اِ۬لدُّنْي۪ا مِنَ اَ۬لَاخِرَةِۖ فَمَا مَتَٰعُ اُ۬لْحَيَوٰةِ اِ۬لدُّنْي۪ا فِے اِ۬لَاخِرَةِ إِلَّا قَلِيلٌۖ ﰥ

Yâ'ayyuhâ lladhîna âmanû mâ lakumû idhâ qîla lakumu nfirû fî sabîli llâhi ththâqaltumû ilâ lardi aradîtum bilhayawâti ddunyê mina lakhirati famâ matâ‘u lhayawâti ddunyê fî lakhirati illâ qalîl

O vous qui croyez! Qu'avez-vous? Lorsque l'on vous a dit: «Elancez-vous dans le sentier d'Allah» vous vous êtes appesantis sur la terre. La vie présente vous agrée-t-elle plus que l'au-delà? - Or, la jouissance de la vie présente ne sera que peu de chose, comparée à l'au-delà

O you who have believed, what is [the matter] with you that, when you are told to go forth in the cause of Allah, you adhere heavily to the earth? Are you satisfied with the life of this world rather than the Hereafter? But what is the enjoyment of worldly life compared to the Hereafter except a [very] little

اِلَّا تَنفِرُواْ يُعَذِّبْكُمْ عَذَاباً اَلِيماٗ وَيَسْتَبْدِلْ قَوْماً غَيْرَكُمْ وَلَا تَضُرُّوهُ شَئْاٗۖ وَاللَّهُ عَلَىٰ كُلِّ شَےْءٖ قَدِيرٌۖ ﰦ

Illâ tanfirû yu‘adhdhibkum ‘adhâbana lîman wayastabdil qawman ghayrakum walâ tadurrûhu shay'an wallâhu ‘alâ kulli shay'in qadîr

Si vous ne vous lancez pas au combat, Il vous châtiera d'un châtiment douloureux et vous remplacera par un autre peuple. Vous ne Lui nuirez en rien. Et Allah est Omnipotent

If you do not go forth, He will punish you with a painful punishment and will replace you with another people, and you will not harm Him at all. And Allah is over all things competent

۞ اِلَّا تَنصُرُوهُ فَقَدْ نَصَرَهُ اُ۬للَّهُ إِذَ اَخْرَجَهُ اُ۬لذِينَ كَفَرُواْ ثَانِيَ اَ۪ثْنَيْنِ إِذْ هُمَا فِے اِ۬لْغ۪ارِ إِذْ يَقُولُ لِصَٰحِبِهِۦ لَا تَحْزَنِ اِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ مَعَنَاۖ فَأَنزَلَ اَ۬للَّهُ سَكِينَتَهُۥ عَلَيْهِۖ وَأَيَّدَهُۥ بِجُنُودٖ لَّمْ تَرَوْهَاۖ وَجَعَلَ كَلِمَةَ اَ۬لذِينَ كَفَرُواْ اُ۬لسُّفْل۪ىٰۖ وَكَلِمَةُ اُ۬للَّهِ هِيَ اَ۬لْعُلْي۪اۖ وَاللَّهُ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌۖ ﰧ

Illâ tansurûhu faqad nasarahu llâhu idha khrajahu lladhîna kafarû thâniya thnayni idh humâ fî lghêri idh yaqûlu lisâhibihî lâ tahzani nna llâha ma‘anâ fa'anzala llâhu sakînatahû ‘alayhi wa'ayyadahû bijunûdil lam tarawhâ waja‘ala kalimata lladhîna kafarû ssuflê wakalimatu llâhi hiya l‘ulyê wallâhu ‘azîzun hakîm

Si vous ne lui portez pas secours... Allah l'a déjà secouru, lorsque ceux qui avaient mécru l'avaient banni, deuxième de deux. Quand ils étaient dans la grotte et qu'il disait à son compagnon: «Ne t'afflige pas, car Allah est avec nous.» Allah fit alors descendre sur Lui Sa sérénité «Sa sakîna» et le soutint de soldats (Anges) que vous ne voyiez pas, et Il abaissa ainsi la parole des mécréants, tandis que la parole d'Allah eut le dessus. Et Allah est Puissant et Sage

If you do not aid the Prophet - Allah has already aided him when those who disbelieved had driven him out [of Makkah] as one of two, when they were in the cave and he said to his companion, "Do not grieve; indeed Allah is with us." And Allah sent down his tranquillity upon him and supported him with angels you did not see and made the word of those who disbelieved the lowest, while the word of Allah - that is the highest. And Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise

اِ۪نفِرُواْ خِفَافاٗ وَثِقَالاٗ وَجَٰهِدُواْ بِأَمْوَٰلِكُمْ وَأَنفُسِكُمْ فِے سَبِيلِ اِ۬للَّهِۖ ذَٰلِكُمْ خَيْرٞ لَّكُمُۥٓ إِن كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَۖ ﰨ

Infirû khifâfan wathiqâlan wajâhidû bi'amwâlikum wa'anfusikum fî sabîli llâhi dhâlikum khayrul lakumû in kuntum ta‘lamûn

Légers ou lourds, lancez-vous au combat, et luttez avec vos biens et vos personnes dans le sentier d'Allah. Cela est meilleur pour vous, si vous saviez

Go forth, whether light or heavy, and strive with your wealth and your lives in the cause of Allah. That is better for you, if you only knew

لَوْ كَانَ عَرَضاٗ قَرِيباٗ وَسَفَراٗ قَاصِداٗ لَّاتَّبَعُوكَ وَلَٰكِنۢ بَعُدَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ اُ۬لشُّقَّةُۖ وَسَيَحْلِفُونَ بِاللَّهِ لَوِ اِ۪سْتَطَعْنَا لَخَرَجْنَا مَعَكُمْۖ يُهْلِكُونَ أَنفُسَهُمْۖ وَاللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ إِنَّهُمْ لَكَٰذِبُونَۖ ﰩ

Law kâna ‘aradan qarîban wasafaran qâsidal lattaba‘ûka walâkim ba‘udat ‘alayhimu shshuqqatu wasayahlifûna billâhi lawi stata‘nâ lakharajnâ ma‘akum yuhlikûna anfusahum wallâhu ya‘lamu innahum lakâdhibûn

S'il s'était agi d'un profit facile ou d'un court voyage, ils t'auraient suivi; mais la distance leur parut longue. Et ils jureront par Allah: «Si nous avions pu, nous serions sortis en votre compagnie.» Ils se perdent eux-mêmes. Et Allah sait bien qu'ils mentent

Had it been an easy gain and a moderate trip, the hypocrites would have followed you, but distant to them was the journey. And they will swear by Allah, "If we were able, we would have gone forth with you," destroying themselves [through false oaths], and Allah knows that indeed they are liars

عَفَا اَ۬للَّهُ عَنكَ لِمَ أَذِنتَ لَهُمْ حَتَّىٰ يَتَبَيَّنَ لَكَ اَ۬لذِينَ صَدَقُواْ وَتَعْلَمَ اَ۬لْكَٰذِبِينَۖ ﰪ

‘afâ llâhu ‘anka lima adhinta lahum hattâ yatabayyana laka lladhîna sadaqû wata‘lama lkâdhibîn

Qu'Allah te pardonne! Pourquoi leur as-tu donné permission avant que tu ne puisses distinguer ceux qui disaient vrai et reconnaître les menteurs

May Allah pardon you, [O Muhammad]; why did you give them permission [to remain behind]? [You should not have] until it was evident to you who were truthful and you knew [who were] the liars

لَا يَسْتَٰذِنُكَ اَ۬لذِينَ يُومِنُونَ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ اِ۬لَاخِرِ أَنْ يُّجَٰهِدُواْ بِأَمْوَٰلِهِمْ وَأَنفُسِهِمْۖ وَاللَّهُ عَلِيمُۢ بِالْمُتَّقِينَۖ ﰫ

Lâ yastâdhinuka lladhîna yûminûna billâhi walyawmi lakhiri ay yujâhidû bi'amwâlihim wa'anfusihim wallâhu ‘alîmum bilmuttaqîn

Ceux qui croient en Allah et au Jour dernier ne te demandent pas permission quand il s'agit de mener combat avec leurs biens et leurs personnes. Et Allah connaît bien les pieux

Those who believe in Allah and the Last Day would not ask permission of you to be excused from striving with their wealth and their lives. And Allah is Knowing of those who fear Him

إِنَّمَا يَسْتَٰذِنُكَ اَ۬لذِينَ لَا يُومِنُونَ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ اِ۬لَاخِرِ وَارْتَابَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْ فَهُمْ فِے رَيْبِهِمْ يَتَرَدَّدُونَۖ ﰬ

Innamâ yastâdhinuka lladhîna lâ yûminûna billâhi walyawmi lakhiri wartâbat qulûbuhum fahum fî raybihim yataraddadûn

Ne te demandent permission que ceux qui ne croient pas en Allah et au Jour dernier, et dont les cœurs sont emplis de doute. Ils ne font qu'hésiter dans leur incertitude

Only those would ask permission of you who do not believe in Allah and the Last Day and whose hearts have doubted, and they, in their doubt, are hesitating

۞ وَلَوَ اَرَادُواْ اُ۬لْخُرُوجَ لَأَعَدُّواْ لَهُۥ عُدَّةٗۖ وَلَٰكِن كَرِهَ اَ۬للَّهُ اُ۪نۢبِعَاثَهُمْ فَثَبَّطَهُمْ وَقِيلَ اَ۟قْعُدُواْ مَعَ اَ۬لْقَٰعِدِينَۖ ﰭ

Walawa râdû lkhurûja la'a‘addû lahû ‘uddatan walâkin kariha llâhu mbi‘âthahum fathabbatahum waqîla q‘udû ma‘a lqâ‘idîn

Et s'ils avaient voulu partir (au combat), ils lui auraient fait des préparatifs. Mais leur départ répugna à Allah; Il les a rendus paresseux. Et il leur fut dit: «Restez avec ceux qui restent»

And if they had intended to go forth, they would have prepared for it [some] preparation. But Allah disliked their being sent, so He kept them back, and they were told, "Remain [behind] with those who remain

لَوْ خَرَجُواْ فِيكُم مَّا زَادُوكُمُۥٓ إِلَّا خَبَالاٗ وَلَأَوْضَعُواْ خِلَٰلَكُمْ يَبْغُونَكُمُ اُ۬لْفِتْنَةَ وَفِيكُمْ سَمَّٰعُونَ لَهُمْۖ وَاللَّهُ عَلِيمُۢ بِالظَّٰلِمِينَۖ ﰮ

Law kharajû fîkum mâ zâdûkumû illâ khabâlan wala'awda‘û khilâlakum yabghûnakumu lfitnata wafîkum sammâ‘ûna lahum wallâhu ‘alîmum bizzâlimîn

S'ils étaient sortis avec vous, ils n'auraient fait qu'accroître votre trouble et jeter la dissension dans vos rangs, cherchant à créer la discorde entre vous. Et il y en a parmi vous qui les écoutent. Et Allah connaît bien les injustes

Had they gone forth with you, they would not have increased you except in confusion, and they would have been active among you, seeking [to cause] you fitnah. And among you are avid listeners to them. And Allah is Knowing of the wrongdoers

لَقَدِ اِ۪بْتَغَوُاْ اُ۬لْفِتْنَةَ مِن قَبْلُ وَقَلَّبُواْ لَكَ اَ۬لُامُورَ حَتَّىٰ جَآءَ اَ۬لْحَقُّ وَظَهَرَ أَمْرُ اُ۬للَّهِ وَهُمْ كَٰرِهُونَۖ ﰯ

Laqadi btaghawu lfitnata min qablu waqallabû laka lumûra hattâ jâ'a lhaqqu wazahara amru llâhi wahum kârihûn

Ils ont, auparavant, cherché à semer la discorde (dans vos rangs) et à embrouiller tes affaires jusqu'à ce que vînt la vérité et triomphât le commandement d'Allah, en dépit de leur hostilité

They had already desired dissension before and had upset matters for you until the truth came and the ordinance of Allah appeared, while they were averse

وَمِنْهُم مَّنْ يَّقُولُ اُ۪يذَن لِّے وَلَا تَفْتِنِّےٓۖ أَلَا فِے اِ۬لْفِتْنَةِ سَقَطُواْۖ وَإِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ لَمُحِيطَةُۢ بِالْكٰ۪فِرِينَۖ ﰰ

Waminhum may yaqûlu ydhal lî walâ taftinnî alâ fî lfitnati saqatû wa'inna jahannama lamuhîtatum bilkêfirîn

Parmi eux il en est qui dit: «Donne-moi la permission (de rester) et ne me mets pas en tentation.» Or, c'est bien dans la tentation qu'ils sont tombés; l'Enfer est tout autour des mécréants

And among them is he who says, "Permit me [to remain at home] and do not put me to trial." Unquestionably, into trial they have fallen. And indeed, Hell will encompass the disbelievers

إِن تُصِبْكَ حَسَنَةٞ تَسُؤْهُمْۖ وَإِن تُصِبْكَ مُصِيبَةٞ يَقُولُواْ قَدَ اَخَذْنَآ أَمْرَنَا مِن قَبْلُ وَيَتَوَلَّواْ وَّهُمْ فَرِحُونَۖ ﰱ

In tusibka hasanatun tasu'hum wa'in tusibka musîbatun yaqûlû qada khadhnâ amranâ min qablu wayatawallaw wahum farihûn

Qu'un bonheur t'atteigne, ça les afflige. Et que t'atteigne un malheur, ils disent: «Heureusement que nous avions pris d'avance nos précautions.» Et ils se détournent tout en exultant

If good befalls you, it distresses them; but if disaster strikes you, they say, "We took our matter [in hand] before," and turn away while they are rejoicing

قُل لَّنْ يُّصِيبَنَآ إِلَّا مَا كَتَبَ اَ۬للَّهُ لَنَاۖ هُوَ مَوْل۪يٰنَاۖ وَعَلَى اَ۬للَّهِ فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ اِ۬لْمُومِنُونَۖ ﰲ

Qul lay yusîbanâ illâ mâ kataba llâhu lanâ huwa mawlênâ wa‘alâ llâhi falyatawakkali lmûminûn

Dis: «Rien ne nous atteindra, en dehors de ce qu'Allah a prescrit pour nous. Il est notre Protecteur. C'est en Allah que les croyants doivent mettre leur confiance»

Say, "Never will we be struck except by what Allah has decreed for us; He is our protector." And upon Allah let the believers rely

قُلْ هَلْ تَرَبَّصُونَ بِنَآ إِلَّآ إِحْدَى اَ۬لْحُسْنَيَيْنِۖ وَنَحْنُ نَتَرَبَّصُ بِكُمُۥٓ أَنْ يُّصِيبَكُمُ اُ۬للَّهُ بِعَذَابٖ مِّنْ عِندِهِۦٓ أَوْ بِأَيْدِينَاۖ فَتَرَبَّصُوٓاْۖ إِنَّا مَعَكُم مُّتَرَبِّصُونَۖ ﰳ

Qul hal tarabbasûna binâ illâ ihdâ lhusnayayni wanahnu natarabbasu bikumû ay yusîbakumu llâhu bi‘adhâbim min ‘indihî aw bi'aydînâ fatarabbasû innâ ma‘akum mutarabbisûn

Dis: «Qu'attendez-vous pour nous, sinon l'une des deux meilleures choses? Tandis que ce que nous attendons pour vous, c'est qu'Allah vous inflige un châtiment de Sa part ou par nos mains. Attendez donc! Nous attendons aussi, avec vous»

Say, "Do you await for us except one of the two best things while we await for you that Allah will afflict you with punishment from Himself or at our hands? So wait; indeed we, along with you, are waiting

قُلَ اَنفِقُواْ طَوْعاً اَوْ كَرْهاٗ لَّنْ يُّتَقَبَّلَ مِنكُمُۥٓۖ إِنَّكُمْ كُنتُمْ قَوْماٗ فَٰسِقِينَۖ ﰴ

Qula nfiqû taw‘ana w karhal lay yutaqabbala minkumû innakum kuntum qawman fâsiqîn

Dis: «Dépensez bon gré, mal gré: jamais cela ne sera accepté de vous, car vous êtes des gens pervers»

Say, "Spend willingly or unwillingly; never will it be accepted from you. Indeed, you have been a defiantly disobedient people

وَمَا مَنَعَهُمُۥٓ أَن تُقْبَلَ مِنْهُمْ نَفَقَٰتُهُمُۥٓ إِلَّآ أَنَّهُمْ كَفَرُواْ بِاللَّهِ وَبِرَسُولِهِۦ وَلَا يَاتُونَ اَ۬لصَّلَوٰةَ إِلَّا وَهُمْ كُسَال۪ىٰ وَلَا يُنفِقُونَ إِلَّا وَهُمْ كَٰرِهُونَۖ ﰵ

Wamâ mana‘ahumû an tuqbala minhum nafaqâtuhumû illâ annahum kafarû billâhi wabirasûlihî walâ yâtûna ssalawâta illâ wahum kusâlê walâ yunfiqûna illâ wahum kârihûn

Ce qui empêche leurs dons d'être agréés, c'est le fait qu'ils n'ont pas cru en Allah et Son messager, qu'ils ne se rendent à la Salât que paresseusement, et qu'ils ne dépensent (dans les bonnes œuvres) qu'à contrecœur

And what prevents their expenditures from being accepted from them but that they have disbelieved in Allah and in His Messenger and that they come not to prayer except while they are lazy and that they do not spend except while they are unwilling

۞ فَلَا تُعْجِبْكَ أَمْوَٰلُهُمْ وَلَآ أَوْلَٰدُهُمُۥٓۖ إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اُ۬للَّهُ لِيُعَذِّبَهُم بِهَا فِے اِ۬لْحَيَوٰةِ اِ۬لدُّنْي۪ا وَتَزْهَقَ أَنفُسُهُمْ وَهُمْ كَٰفِرُونَۖ ﰶ

Falâ tu‘jibka amwâluhum walâ awlâduhumû innamâ yurîdu llâhu liyu‘adhdhibahum bihâ fî lhayawâti ddunyê watazhaqa anfusuhum wahum kâfirûn

Que leurs biens et leurs enfants ne t'émerveillent point! Allah ne veut par là que les châtier dans la vie présente, et que (les voir) rendre péniblement l'âme en état de mécréance

So let not their wealth or their children impress you. Allah only intends to punish them through them in worldly life and that their souls should depart [at death] while they are disbelievers

وَيَحْلِفُونَ بِاللَّهِ إِنَّهُمْ لَمِنكُمْ وَمَا هُم مِّنكُمْ وَلَٰكِنَّهُمْ قَوْمٞ يَفْرَقُونَۖ ﰷ

Wayahlifûna billâhi innahum laminkum wamâ hum minkum walâkinnahum qawmun yafraqûn

Et ils (les hypocrites) jurent par Allah qu'ils sont vraiment des vôtres; alors qu'ils ne le sont pas. Mais ce sont des gens peureux

And they swear by Allah that they are from among you while they are not from among you; but they are a people who are afraid

لَوْ يَجِدُونَ مَلْجَـٔاً اَوْ مَغَٰرَٰتٍ اَوْ مُدَّخَلاٗ لَّوَلَّوِاْ اِلَيْهِ وَهُمْ يَجْمَحُونَۖ ﰸ

Law yajidûna malja'ana w maghârâtina w muddakhalal lawallawi layhi wahum yajmahûn

S'ils trouvaient un refuge, des cavernes ou un souterrain, ils s'y tourneraient donc et s'y précipiteraient à bride abattue

If they could find a refuge or some caves or any place to enter [and hide], they would turn to it while they run heedlessly

وَمِنْهُم مَّنْ يَّلْمِزُكَ فِے اِ۬لصَّدَقَٰتِ فَإِنُ ا۟عْطُواْ مِنْهَا رَضُواْ وَإِن لَّمْ يُعْطَوْاْ مِنْهَآ إِذَا هُمْ يَسْخَطُونَۖ ﰹ

Waminhum may yalmizuka fî ssadaqâti fa'inu u‘tû minhâ radû wa'il lam yu‘taw minhâ idhâ hum yaskhatûn

Il en est parmi eux qui te critiquent au sujet des Sadaqats: s'il leur en est donné, les voilà contents; mais s'il ne leur en est pas donné, les voilà pleins de rancœur

And among them are some who criticize you concerning the [distribution of] charities. If they are given from them, they approve; but if they are not given from them, at once they become angry

وَلَوَ اَنَّهُمْ رَضُواْ مَآ ءَات۪يٰهُمُ اُ۬للَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُۥ وَقَالُواْ حَسْبُنَا اَ۬للَّهُ سَيُوتِينَا اَ۬للَّهُ مِن فَضْلِهِۦ وَرَسُولُهُۥٓۖ إِنَّآ إِلَى اَ۬للَّهِ رَٰغِبُونَۖ ﰺ

Walawa nnahum radû mâ âtêhumu llâhu warasûluhû waqâlû hasbunâ llâhu sayûtînâ llâhu min fadlihî warasûluhû innâ ilâ llâhi râghibûn

S'ils s'étaient contentés de ce qu'Allah leur avait donné ainsi que Son messager et avaient dit: «Allah nous suffit. Bientôt Allah nous accordera Sa faveur de même que Son messager!... C'est vers Allah que va tout notre désir»

If only they had been satisfied with what Allah and His Messenger gave them and said, "Sufficient for us is Allah; Allah will give us of His bounty, and [so will] His Messenger; indeed, we are desirous toward Allah," [it would have been better for them]

إِنَّمَا اَ۬لصَّدَقَٰتُ لِلْفُقَرَآءِ وَالْمَسَٰكِينِ وَالْعَٰمِلِينَ عَلَيْهَا وَالْمُوَ۬لَّفَةِ قُلُوبُهُمْ وَفِے اِ۬لرِّقَابِ وَالْغَٰرِمِينَ وَفِے سَبِيلِ اِ۬للَّهِ وَابْنِ اِ۬لسَّبِيلِ فَرِيضَةٗ مِّنَ اَ۬للَّهِۖ وَاللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٞۖ ﰻ

Innamâ ssadaqâtu lilfuqarâ'i walmasâkîni wal‘âmilîna ‘alayhâ walmuwallafati qulûbuhum wafî rriqâbi walghârimîna wafî sabîli llâhi wabni ssabîli farîdatam mina llâhi wallâhu ‘alîmun hakîm

Les Sadaqâts ne sont destinés que pour les pauvres, les indigents, ceux qui y travaillent, ceux dont les cœurs sont à gagner (à l'Islam), l'affranchissement des jougs, ceux qui sont lourdement endettés, dans le sentier d'Allah, et pour le voyageur (en détresse). C'est un décret d'Allah! Et Allah est Omniscient et Sage

Zakah expenditures are only for the poor and for the needy and for those employed to collect [zakah] and for bringing hearts together [for Islam] and for freeing captives [or slaves] and for those in debt and for the cause of Allah and for the [stranded] traveler - an obligation [imposed] by Allah. And Allah is Knowing and Wise

۞ وَمِنْهُمُ اُ۬لذِينَ يُوذُونَ اَ۬لنَّبِےٓءَ وَيَقُولُونَ هُوَ أُذْنٞۖ قُلُ ا۟ذْنُ خَيْرٖ لَّكُمْ يُومِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَيُومِنُ لِلْمُومِنِينَ وَرَحْمَةٞ لِّلذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ مِنكُمْۖ وَالذِينَ يُوذُونَ رَسُولَ اَ۬للَّهِ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ اَلِيمٞۖ ﰼ

Waminhumu lladhîna yûdhûna nnabî'a wayaqûlûna huwa udhnun qulu udhnu khayril lakum yûminu billâhi wayûminu lilmûminîna warahmatul lilladhîna âmanû minkum walladhîna yûdhûna rasûla llâhi lahum ‘adhâbuna lîm

Et il en est parmi eux ceux qui font du tort au Prophète et disent: «Il est tout oreille». - Dis: «Une oreille pour votre bien. Il croit en Allah et fait confiance aux croyants, et il est une miséricorde pour ceux d'entre vous qui croient. Et ceux qui font du tort au Messager d'Allah auront un châtiment douloureux»

And among them are those who abuse the Prophet and say, "He is an ear." Say, "[It is] an ear of goodness for you that believes in Allah and believes the believers and [is] a mercy to those who believe among you." And those who abuse the Messenger of Allah - for them is a painful punishment

يَحْلِفُونَ بِاللَّهِ لَكُمْ لِيُرْضُوكُمْ وَاللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُۥٓ أَحَقُّ أَنْ يُّرْضُوهُ إِن كَانُواْ مُومِنِينَۖ ﰽ

Yahlifûna billâhi lakum liyurdûkum wallâhu warasûluhû ahaqqu ay yurdûhu in kânû mûminîn

Ils vous jurent par Allah pour vous satisfaire. Alors qu'Allah - ainsi que Son messager - est plus en droit qu'ils Le satisfassent, s'ils sont vraiment croyants

They swear by Allah to you [Muslims] to satisfy you. But Allah and His Messenger are more worthy for them to satisfy, if they should be believers

أَلَمْ يَعْلَمُوٓاْ أَنَّهُۥ مَنْ يُّحَادِدِ اِ۬للَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ فَأَنَّ لَهُۥ نَارَ جَهَنَّمَ خَٰلِداٗ فِيهَاۖ ذَٰلِكَ اَ۬لْخِزْيُ اُ۬لْعَظِيمُۖ ﰾ

Alam ya‘lamû annahû may yuhâdidi llâha warasûlahû fa'anna lahû nâra jahannama khâlidan fîhâ dhâlika lkhizyu l‘azîm

Ne savent-ils pas qu'en vérité quiconque s'oppose à Allah et à Son messager, aura le feu de l'Enfer pour y demeurer éternellement? Et voilà l'immense opprobre

Do they not know that whoever opposes Allah and His Messenger - that for him is the fire of Hell, wherein he will abide eternally? That is the great disgrace

يَحْذَرُ اُ۬لْمُنَٰفِقُونَ أَن تُنَزَّلَ عَلَيْهِمْ سُورَةٞ تُنَبِّئُهُم بِمَا فِے قُلُوبِهِمْۖ قُلِ اِ۪سْتَهْزِءُوٓاْۖ إِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ مُخْرِجٞ مَّا تَحْذَرُونَۖ ﰿ

Yahdharu lmunâfiqûna an tunazzala ‘alayhim sûratun tunabbî'uhum bimâ fî qulûbihim quli stahzi'û inna llâha mukhrijum mâ tahdharûn

Les hypocrites craignent que l'on fasse descendre sur eux une Sourate leur dévoilant ce qu'il y a dans leurs cœurs. Dis: «Moquez-vous! Allah fera surgir ce que vous prenez la précaution (de cacher)»

They hypocrites are apprehensive lest a surah be revealed about them, informing them of what is in their hearts. Say, "Mock [as you wish]; indeed, Allah will expose that which you fear

وَلَئِن سَأَلْتَهُمْ لَيَقُولُنَّ إِنَّمَا كُنَّا نَخُوضُ وَنَلْعَبُۖ قُلَ اَبِاللَّهِ وَءَايَٰتِهِۦ وَرَسُولِهِۦ كُنتُمْ تَسْتَهْزِءُونَۖ ﱀ

Wala'in sa'altahum layaqûlunna innamâ kunnâ nakhûdu wanal‘abu qula biâllâhi wa'âyâtihî warasûlihî kuntum tastahzi'ûn

Et si tu les interrogeais, ils diraient très certainement: «Vraiment, nous ne faisions que bavarder et jouer.» Dis: «Est-ce d'Allah, de Ses versets (le Coran) et de Son messager que vous vous moquiez?»

And if you ask them, they will surely say, "We were only conversing and playing." Say, "Is it Allah and His verses and His Messenger that you were mocking

لَا تَعْتَذِرُواْۖ قَدْ كَفَرْتُم بَعْدَ إِيمَٰنِكُمُۥٓۖ إِنْ يُّعْفَ عَن طَآئِفَةٖ مِّنكُمْ تُعَذَّبْ طَآئِفَةُۢ بِأَنَّهُمْ كَانُواْ مُجْرِمِينَۖ ﱁ

Lâ ta‘tadhirû qad kafartum ba‘da îmânikumû iy yu‘fa ‘an tâ'ifatim minkum tu‘adhdhab tâ'ifatum bi'annahum kânû mujrimîn

Ne vous excusez pas: vous avez bel et bien rejeté la foi après avoir cru. Si Nous pardonnons à une partie des vôtres, Nous en châtierons une autre pour avoir été des criminels

Make no excuse; you have disbelieved after your belief. If We pardon one faction of you - We will punish another faction because they were criminals

اَ۬لْمُنَٰفِقُونَ وَالْمُنَٰفِقَٰتُ بَعْضُهُم مِّنۢ بَعْضٖ يَامُرُونَ بِالْمُنكَرِ وَيَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ اِ۬لْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَقْبِضُونَ أَيْدِيَهُمْ نَسُواْ اُ۬للَّهَ فَنَسِيَهُمُۥٓۖ إِنَّ اَ۬لْمُنَٰفِقِينَ هُمُ اُ۬لْفَٰسِقُونَۖ ﱂ

Almunâfiqûna walmunâfiqâtu ba‘duhum mim ba‘din yâmurûna bilmunkari wayanhawna ‘ani lma‘rûfi wayaqbidûna aydiyahum nasû llâha fanasiyahumû inna lmunâfiqîna humu lfâsiqûn

Les hypocrites, hommes et femmes, appartiennent les uns aux autres. Ils commandent le blâmable, interdisent le convenable, et replient leurs mains (d'avarice). Ils ont oublié Allah et Il les a alors oubliés. En vérité, les hypocrites sont les pervers

The hypocrite men and hypocrite women are of one another. They enjoin what is wrong and forbid what is right and close their hands. They have forgotten Allah, so He has forgotten them [accordingly]. Indeed, the hypocrites - it is they who are the defiantly disobedient

وَعَدَ اَ۬للَّهُ اُ۬لْمُنَٰفِقِينَ وَالْمُنَٰفِقَٰتِ وَالْكُفَّارَ نَارَ جَهَنَّمَ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَاۖ هِيَ حَسْبُهُمْۖ وَلَعَنَهُمُ اُ۬للَّهُۖ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٞ مُّقِيمٞۖ ﱃ

Wa‘ada llâhu lmunâfiqîna walmunâfiqâti walkuffâra nâra jahannama khâlidîna fîhâ hiya hasbuhum wala‘anahumu llâhu walahum ‘adhâbum muqîm

Aux hypocrites, hommes et femmes, et aux mécréants, Allah a promis le feu de l'Enfer pour qu'ils y demeurent éternellement. C'est suffisant pour eux. Allah les a maudits. Et pour eux, il y aura un châtiment permanent

Allah has promised the hypocrite men and hypocrite women and the disbelievers the fire of Hell, wherein they will abide eternally. It is sufficient for them. And Allah has cursed them, and for them is an enduring punishment

كَالذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ كَانُوٓاْ أَشَدَّ مِنكُمْ قُوَّةٗ وَأَكْثَرَ أَمْوَٰلاٗ وَأَوْلَٰداٗ فَاسْتَمْتَعُواْ بِخَلَٰقِهِمْ فَاسْتَمْتَعْتُم بِخَلَٰقِكُمْ كَمَا اَ۪سْتَمْتَعَ اَ۬لذِينَ مِن قَبْلِكُم بِخَلَٰقِهِمْ وَخُضْتُمْ كَالذِے خَاضُوٓاْۖ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ حَبِطَتَ اَعْمَٰلُهُمْ فِے اِ۬لدُّنْي۪ا وَالَاخِرَةِۖ وَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ اُ۬لْخَٰسِرُونَۖ ﱄ

Kalladhîna min qablikum kânû ashadda minkum quwwatan wa'akthara amwâlan wa'awlâdan fastamta‘û bikhalâqihim fastamta‘tum bikhalâqikum kamâ stamta‘a lladhîna min qablikum bikhalâqihim wakhudtum kalladhî khâdû ulâ'ika habitata ‘mâluhum fî ddunyê walakhirati wa'ulâ'ika humu lkhâsirûn

[Il en fut] de même de ceux qui vous ont précédés: ils étaient plus forts que vous, plus riches et avaient plus d'enfants. Ils jouirent de leur lot [en ce monde] et vous avez joui de votre lot comme ont joui vos prédécesseurs de leur lot. Et vous avez discuté à tort et à travers comme ce qu'ils avaient discuté. Ceux-là verront leurs œuvres anéanties dans ce monde et dans l'autre et ceux-là sont les perdants

[You disbelievers are] like those before you; they were stronger than you in power and more abundant in wealth and children. They enjoyed their portion [of worldly enjoyment], and you have enjoyed your portion as those before you enjoyed their portion, and you have engaged [in vanities] like that in which they engaged. [It is] those whose deeds have become worthless in this world and in the Hereafter, and it is they who are the losers

۞ أَلَمْ يَاتِهِمْ نَبَأُ اُ۬لذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ قَوْمِ نُوحٖ وَعَادٖ وَثَمُودَ ﱅ

Alam yâtihim naba'u lladhîna min qablihim qawmi nûhin wa‘âdin wathamûd

Est-ce que ne leur est pas parvenue l'histoire de ceux qui les ont précédés: le peuple de Noé, des 'Aad, des Tamûd, d'Abraham, des gens de Madyan, et des Villes renversées? Leurs messagers leur avaient apporté des preuves évidentes. Ce ne fut pas Allah qui leur fit du tort, mais ils se firent du tort à eux-mêmes

Has there not reached them the news of those before them - the people of Noah and [the tribes of] 'Aad and Thamud and the people of Abraham and the companions of Madyan and the towns overturned? Their messengers came to them with clear proofs. And Allah would never have wronged them, but they were wronging themselves

وَقَوْمِ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ وَأَصْحَٰبِ مَدْيَنَ وَالْمُوتَفِكَٰتِۖ أَتَتْهُمْ رُسُلُهُم بِالْبَيِّنَٰتِۖ فَمَا كَانَ اَ۬للَّهُ لِيَظْلِمَهُمْۖ وَلَٰكِن كَانُوٓاْ أَنفُسَهُمْ يَظْلِمُونَۖ ﱆ

Waqawmi ibrâhîma wa'ashâbi madyana walmûtafikâti atathum rusuluhum bilbayyinâti famâ kâna llâhu liyazlimahum walâkin kânû anfusahum yazlimûn

وَالْمُومِنُونَ وَالْمُومِنَٰتُ بَعْضُهُمُۥٓ أَوْلِيَآءُ بَعْضٖۖ يَامُرُونَ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَيَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ اِ۬لْمُنكَرِ وَيُقِيمُونَ اَ۬لصَّلَوٰةَ وَيُوتُونَ اَ۬لزَّكَوٰةَ وَيُطِيعُونَ اَ۬للَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥٓۖ أُوْلَٰٓئِكَ سَيَرْحَمُهُمُ اُ۬للَّهُۖ إِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٞۖ ﱇ

Walmûminûna walmûminâtu ba‘duhumû awliyâ'u ba‘din yâmurûna bilma‘rûfi wayanhawna ‘ani lmunkari wayuqîmûna ssalawâta wayûtûna zzakawâta wayutî‘ûna llâha warasûlahû ulâ'ika sayarhamuhumu llâhu inna llâha ‘azîzun hakîm

Les croyants et les croyantes sont alliés les uns des autres. Ils commandent le convenable, interdisent le blâmable accomplissent la ?alât, acquittent la Zakât et obéissent à Allah et à Son messager. Voilà ceux auxquels Allah fera miséricorde, car Allah est Puissant et Sage

The believing men and believing women are allies of one another. They enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong and establish prayer and give zakah and obey Allah and His Messenger. Those - Allah will have mercy upon them. Indeed, Allah is Exalted in Might and Wise

وَعَدَ اَ۬للَّهُ اُ۬لْمُومِنِينَ وَالْمُومِنَٰتِ جَنَّٰتٖ تَجْرِے مِن تَحْتِهَا اَ۬لَانْهَٰرُ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَا وَمَسَٰكِنَ طَيِّبَةٗ فِے جَنَّٰتِ عَدْنٖۖ وَرِضْوَٰنٞ مِّنَ اَ۬للَّهِ أَكْبَرُۖ ذَٰلِكَ هُوَ اَ۬لْفَوْزُ اُ۬لْعَظِيمُۖ ﱈ

Wa‘ada llâhu lmûminîna walmûminâti jannâtin tajrî min tahtihâ lanhâru khâlidîna fîhâ wamasâkina tayyibatan fî jannâti ‘adnin waridwânum mina llâhi akbaru dhâlika huwa lfawzu l‘azîm

Aux croyants et aux croyantes, Allah a promis des Jardins sous lesquels coulent les ruisseaux, pour qu'ils y demeurent éternellement, et des demeures excellentes, aux jardins d'Eden [du séjour permanent]. Et la satisfaction d'Allah est plus grande encore, et c'est là l'énorme succès

Allah has promised the believing men and believing women gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they abide eternally, and pleasant dwellings in gardens of perpetual residence; but approval from Allah is greater. It is that which is the great attainment

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا اَ۬لنَّبِےٓءُ جَٰهِدِ اِ۬لْكُفَّارَ وَالْمُنَٰفِقِينَ وَاغْلُظْ عَلَيْهِمْۖ وَمَأْو۪يٰهُمْ جَهَنَّمُۖ وَبِيسَ اَ۬لْمَصِيرُۖ ﱉ

Yâ'ayyuhâ nnabî'u jâhidi lkuffâra walmunâfiqîna waghluz ‘alayhim wama'wêhum jahannamu wabîsa lmasîr

O Prophète, lutte contre les mécréants et les hypocrites, et sois rude avec eux; l'Enfer sera leur refuge, et quelle mauvaise destination

O Prophet, fight against the disbelievers and the hypocrites and be harsh upon them. And their refuge is Hell, and wretched is the destination

يَحْلِفُونَ بِاللَّهِ مَا قَالُواْۖ وَلَقَدْ قَالُواْ كَلِمَةَ اَ۬لْكُفْرِ وَكَفَرُواْ بَعْدَ إِسْلَٰمِهِمْ وَهَمُّواْ بِمَا لَمْ يَنَالُواْۖ وَمَا نَقَمُوٓاْ إِلَّآ أَنَ اَغْن۪يٰهُمُ اُ۬للَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُۥ مِن فَضْلِهِۦۖ فَإِنْ يَّتُوبُواْ يَكُ خَيْراٗ لَّهُمْۖ وَإِنْ يَّتَوَلَّوْاْ يُعَذِّبْهُمُ اُ۬للَّهُ عَذَاباً اَلِيماٗ فِے اِ۬لدُّنْي۪ا وَالَاخِرَةِۖ وَمَا لَهُمْ فِے اِ۬لَارْضِ مِنْ وَّلِيّٖ وَلَا نَصِيرٖۖ ﱊ

Yahlifûna billâhi mâ qâlû walaqad qâlû kalimata lkufri wakafarû ba‘da islâmihim wahammû bimâ lam yanâlû wamâ naqamû illâ ana ghnêhumu llâhu warasûluhû min fadlihî fa'iy yatûbû yaku khayral lahum wa'iy yatawallaw yu‘adhdhibhumu llâhu ‘adhâbana lîman fî ddunyê walakhirati wamâ lahum fî lardi miw waliyyin walâ nasîr

Ils jurent par Allah qu'ils n'ont pas dit (ce qu'ils ont proféré), alors qu'en vérité ils ont dit la parole de la mécréance et ils ont rejeté la foi après avoir été musulmans. Ils ont projeté ce qu'ils n'ont pu accomplir. Mais ils n'ont pas de reproche à faire si ce n'est qu'Allah - ainsi que Son messager - les a enrichis par Sa grâce. S'ils se repentaient, ce serait mieux pour eux. Et s'ils tournent le dos, Allah les châtiera d'un douloureux châtiment, ici-bas et dans l'au-delà; et ils n'auront sur terre ni allié ni secoureur

They swear by Allah that they did not say [anything against the Prophet] while they had said the word of disbelief and disbelieved after their [pretense of] Islam and planned that which they were not to attain. And they were not resentful except [for the fact] that Allah and His Messenger had enriched them of His bounty. So if they repent, it is better for them; but if they turn away, Allah will punish them with a painful punishment in this world and the Hereafter. And there will not be for them on earth any protector or helper

۞ وَمِنْهُم مَّنْ عَٰهَدَ اَ۬للَّهَ لَئِنَ اٰت۪يٰنَا مِن فَضْلِهِۦ لَنَصَّدَّقَنَّ وَلَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ اَ۬لصَّٰلِحِينَۖ ﱋ

Waminhum man ‘âhada llâha la'ina âtênâ min fadlihî lanassaddaqanna walanakûnanna mina ssâlihîn

Et parmi eux il en est qui avaient pris l'engagement envers Allah: «S'Il nous donne de Sa grâce, nous payerons, certes, la Zakât, et serons du nombre des gens de bien»

And among them are those who made a covenant with Allah, [saying], "If He should give us from His bounty, we will surely spend in charity, and we will surely be among the righteous

فَلَمَّآ ءَات۪يٰهُم مِّن فَضْلِهِۦ بَخِلُواْ بِهِۦ وَتَوَلَّواْ وَّهُم مُّعْرِضُونَۖ ﱌ

Falammâ âtêhum min fadlihî bakhilû bihî watawallaw wahum mu‘ridûn

Mais, lorsqu'Il leur donna de Sa grâce, ils s'en montrèrent avares et tournèrent le dos en faisant volte-face

But when he gave them from His bounty, they were stingy with it and turned away while they refused

فَأَعْقَبَهُمْ نِفَاقاٗ فِے قُلُوبِهِمُۥٓ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يَلْقَوْنَهُۥ بِمَآ أَخْلَفُواْ اُ۬للَّهَ مَا وَعَدُوهُ وَبِمَا كَانُواْ يَكْذِبُونَۖ ﱍ

Fa'a‘qabahum nifâqan fî qulûbihimû ilâ yawmi yalqawnahû bimâ akhlafû llâha mâ wa‘adûhu wabimâ kânû yakdhibûn

Il a donc suscité l'hypocrisie dans leurs cœurs, et cela jusqu'au jour où ils Le rencontreront, pour avoir violé ce qu'ils avaient promis à Allah et pour avoir menti

So He penalized them with hypocrisy in their hearts until the Day they will meet Him - because they failed Allah in what they promised Him and because they [habitually] used to lie

أَلَمْ يَعْلَمُوٓاْ أَنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ يَعْلَمُ سِرَّهُمْ وَنَجْو۪يٰهُمْ وَأَنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ عَلَّٰمُ اُ۬لْغُيُوبِۖ ﱎ

Alam ya‘lamû anna llâha ya‘lamu sirrahum wanajwêhum wa'anna llâha ‘allâmu lghuyûb

Ne savent-ils pas qu'Allah connaît leur secret et leurs conversations confidentielles et qu'Allah connaît parfaitement les (choses) inconnaissables

Did they not know that Allah knows their secrets and their private conversations and that Allah is the Knower of the unseen

اِ۬لذِينَ يَلْمِزُونَ اَ۬لْمُطَّوِّعِينَ مِنَ اَ۬لْمُومِنِينَ فِے اِ۬لصَّدَقَٰتِ وَالذِينَ لَا يَجِدُونَ إِلَّا جُهْدَهُمْ فَيَسْخَرُونَ مِنْهُمْ سَخِرَ اَ۬للَّهُ مِنْهُمْۖ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ اَلِيمٌۖ ﱏ

Alladhîna yalmizûna lmuttawwi‘îna mina lmûminîna fî ssadaqâti walladhîna lâ yajidûna illâ juhdahum fayaskharûna minhum sakhira llâhu minhum walahum ‘adhâbuna lîm

Ceux-là qui dirigent leurs calomnies contre les croyants qui font des aumônes volontaires et contre ceux qui ne trouvent que leurs faibles moyens (à offrir), et ils se moquent alors d'eux. Qu'Allah les raille. Et ils auront un châtiment douloureux

Those who criticize the contributors among the believers concerning [their] charities and [criticize] the ones who find nothing [to spend] except their effort, so they ridicule them - Allah will ridicule them, and they will have a painful punishment

اِ۪سْتَغْفِرْ لَهُمُۥٓ أَوْ لَا تَسْتَغْفِرْ لَهُمُۥٓۖ إِن تَسْتَغْفِرْ لَهُمْ سَبْعِينَ مَرَّةٗ فَلَنْ يَّغْفِرَ اَ۬للَّهُ لَهُمْۖ ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ كَفَرُواْ بِاللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦۖ وَاللَّهُ لَا يَهْدِے اِ۬لْقَوْمَ اَ۬لْفَٰسِقِينَۖ ﱐ

Istaghfir lahumû aw lâ tastaghfir lahumû in tastaghfir lahum sab‘îna marratan falay yaghfira llâhu lahum dhâlika bi'annahum kafarû billâhi warasûlihî wallâhu lâ yahdî lqawma lfâsiqîn

Que tu demandes pardon pour eux, ou que tu ne le demandes pas - et si tu demandes pardon pour eux soixante dix fois - Allah ne leur pardonnera point. Et ce parce qu'ils n'ont pas cru en Allah et en Son messager et Allah ne guide pas les gens pervers

Ask forgiveness for them, [O Muhammad], or do not ask forgiveness for them. If you should ask forgiveness for them seventy times - never will Allah forgive them. That is because they disbelieved in Allah and His Messenger, and Allah does not guide the defiantly disobedient people

فَرِحَ اَ۬لْمُخَلَّفُونَ بِمَقْعَدِهِمْ خِلَٰفَ رَسُولِ اِ۬للَّهِ وَكَرِهُوٓاْ أَنْ يُّجَٰهِدُواْ بِأَمْوَٰلِهِمْ وَأَنفُسِهِمْ فِے سَبِيلِ اِ۬للَّهِ وَقَالُواْ لَا تَنفِرُواْ فِے اِ۬لْحَرِّۖ قُلْ نَارُ جَهَنَّمَ أَشَدُّ حَرّاٗ لَّوْ كَانُواْ يَفْقَهُونَۖ ﱑ

Fariha lmukhallafûna bimaq‘adihim khilâfa rasûli llâhi wakarihû ay yujâhidû bi'amwâlihim wa'anfusihim fî sabîli llâhi waqâlû lâ tanfirû fî lharri qul nâru jahannama ashaddu harral law kânû yafqahûn

Ceux qui ont été laissés à l'arrière se sont réjouis de pouvoir rester chez eux à l'arrière du Messager d'Allah, ils ont répugné à lutter par leurs biens et leurs personnes dans le sentier d'Allah, et ont dit: «Ne partez pas au combat pendant cette chaleur!» Dis: «Le feu de l'Enfer est plus intense en chaleur.» - S'ils comprenaient

Those who remained behind rejoiced in their staying [at home] after [the departure of] the Messenger of Allah and disliked to strive with their wealth and their lives in the cause of Allah and said, "Do not go forth in the heat." Say, "The fire of Hell is more intensive in heat" - if they would but understand

فَلْيَضْحَكُواْ قَلِيلاٗ وَلْيَبْكُواْ كَثِيراٗ جَزَآءَۢ بِمَا كَانُواْ يَكْسِبُونَۖ ﱒ

Falyadhakû qalîlan walyabkû kathîran jazâ'am bimâ kânû yaksibûn

Qu'ils rient un peu et qu'ils pleurent beaucoup en récompense de ce qu'ils se sont acquis

So let them laugh a little and [then] weep much as recompense for what they used to earn

فَإِن رَّجَعَكَ اَ۬للَّهُ إِلَىٰ طَآئِفَةٖ مِّنْهُمْ فَاسْتَٰذَنُوكَ لِلْخُرُوجِ فَقُل لَّن تَخْرُجُواْ مَعِيَ أَبَداٗ وَلَن تُقَٰتِلُواْ مَعِے عَدُوّاًۖ اِنَّكُمْ رَضِيتُم بِالْقُعُودِ أَوَّلَ مَرَّةٖۖ فَاقْعُدُواْ مَعَ اَ۬لْخَٰلِفِينَۖ ﱓ

Fa'ir raja‘aka llâhu ilâ tâ'ifatim minhum fastâdhanûka lilkhurûji faqul lan takhrujû ma‘iya abadan walan tuqâtilû ma‘î ‘aduwwani nnakum radîtum bilqu‘ûdi awwala marratin faq‘udû ma‘a lkhâlifîn

Si Allah te ramène vers un groupe de ces (gens-là), et qu'ils te demandent permission de partir au combat, alors dis: «Vous ne sortirez plus jamais en ma compagnie, et vous ne combattrez plus jamais d'ennemis avec moi. Vous avez été plus contents de rester chez vous la première fois; demeurez donc chez vous en compagnie de ceux qui se tiennent à l'arrière»

If Allah should return you to a faction of them [after the expedition] and then they ask your permission to go out [to battle], say, "You will not go out with me, ever, and you will never fight with me an enemy. Indeed, you were satisfied with sitting [at home] the first time, so sit [now] with those who stay behind

وَلَا تُصَلِّ عَلَىٰٓ أَحَدٖ مِّنْهُم مَّاتَ أَبَداٗ وَلَا تَقُمْ عَلَىٰ قَبْرِهِۦٓۖ إِنَّهُمْ كَفَرُواْ بِاللَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦ وَمَاتُواْ وَهُمْ فَٰسِقُونَۖ ﱔ

Walâ tusalli ‘alâ ahadim minhum mâta abadan walâ taqum ‘alâ qabrihî innahum kafarû billâhi warasûlihî wamâtû wahum fâsiqûn

Et ne fais jamais la Salât sur l'un d'entre eux qui meurt, et ne te tiens pas debout auprès de sa tombe, parce qu'ils n'ont pas cru en Allah et en Son messager, et ils sont morts tout en étant pervers

And do not pray [the funeral prayer, O Muhammad], over any of them who has died - ever - or stand at his grave. Indeed, they disbelieved in Allah and His Messenger and died while they were defiantly disobedient

۞ وَلَا تُعْجِبْكَ أَمْوَٰلُهُمْ وَأَوْلَٰدُهُمُۥٓۖ إِنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اُ۬للَّهُ أَنْ يُّعَذِّبَهُم بِهَا فِے اِ۬لدُّنْي۪ا وَتَزْهَقَ أَنفُسُهُمْ وَهُمْ كَٰفِرُونَۖ ﱕ

Walâ tu‘jibka amwâluhum wa'awlâduhumû innamâ yurîdu llâhu ay yu‘adhdhibahum bihâ fî ddunyê watazhaqa anfusuhum wahum kâfirûn

Et que ni leurs biens ni leurs enfants ne t'émerveillent! Allah ne veut par là, que les châtier ici-bas, et qu'ils rendent péniblement l'âme en mécréants

And let not their wealth and their children impress you. Allah only intends to punish them through them in this world and that their souls should depart [at death] while they are disbelievers

وَإِذَآ أُنزِلَتْ سُورَةٌ اَنَ اٰمِنُواْ بِاللَّهِ وَجَٰهِدُواْ مَعَ رَسُولِهِ اِ۪سْتَٰذَنَكَ أُوْلُواْ اُ۬لطَّوْلِ مِنْهُمْ وَقَالُواْ ذَرْنَا نَكُن مَّعَ اَ۬لْقَٰعِدِينَۖ ﱖ

Wa'idhâ unzilat sûratuna na âminû billâhi wajâhidû ma‘a rasûlihi stâdhanaka ulû ttawli minhum waqâlû dharnâ nakum ma‘a lqâ‘idîn

Et lorsqu'une Sourate est révélée: «Croyez en Allah et luttez en compagnie de Son messager», les gens qui ont tous les moyens (de combattre) parmi eux te demandent de les dispenser (du combat), et disent: «Laisse-nous avec ceux qui restent»

And when a surah was revealed [enjoining them] to believe in Allah and to fight with His Messenger, those of wealth among them asked your permission [to stay back] and said, "Leave us to be with them who sit [at home]

رَضُواْ بِأَنْ يَّكُونُواْ مَعَ اَ۬لْخَوَالِفِۖ وَطُبِعَ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمْ فَهُمْ لَا يَفْقَهُونَۖ ﱗ

Radû bi'ay yakûnû ma‘a lkhawâlifi watubi‘a ‘alâ qulûbihim fahum lâ yafqahûn

Il leur plaît, (après le départ des combattants) de demeurer avec celles qui sont restées à l'arrière. Leurs cœurs ont été scellés et ils ne comprennent rien

They were satisfied to be with those who stay behind, and their hearts were sealed over, so they do not understand

لَٰكِنِ اِ۬لرَّسُولُ وَالذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ مَعَهُۥ جَٰهَدُواْ بِأَمْوَٰلِهِمْ وَأَنفُسِهِمْۖ وَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ لَهُمُ اُ۬لْخَيْرَٰتُۖ وَأُوْلَٰٓئِكَ هُمُ اُ۬لْمُفْلِحُونَۖ ﱘ

Lâkini rrasûlu walladhîna âmanû ma‘ahû jâhadû bi'amwâlihim wa'anfusihim wa'ulâ'ika lahumu lkhayrâtu wa'ulâ'ika humu lmuflihûn

Mais le Messager et ceux qui ont cru avec lui ont lutté avec leurs biens et leurs personnes. Ceux-là auront les bonnes choses et ce sont eux qui réussiront

But the Messenger and those who believed with him fought with their wealth and their lives. Those will have [all that is] good, and it is those who are the successful

أَعَدَّ اَ۬للَّهُ لَهُمْ جَنَّٰتٖ تَجْرِے مِن تَحْتِهَا اَ۬لَانْهَٰرُ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَاۖ ذَٰلِكَ اَ۬لْفَوْزُ اُ۬لْعَظِيمُۖ ﱙ

A‘adda llâhu lahum jannâtin tajrî min tahtihâ lanhâru khâlidîna fîhâ dhâlika lfawzu l‘azîm

Allah a préparé pour eux des Jardins sous lesquels coulent les ruisseaux, pour qu'ils y demeurent éternellement. Voilà l'énorme succès

Allah has prepared for them gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide eternally. That is the great attainment

وَجَآءَ اَ۬لْمُعَذِّرُونَ مِنَ اَ۬لَاعْرَابِ لِيُوذَنَ لَهُمْ وَقَعَدَ اَ۬لذِينَ كَذَبُواْ اُ۬للَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥۖ سَيُصِيبُ اُ۬لذِينَ كَفَرُواْ مِنْهُمْ عَذَابٌ اَلِيمٞۖ ﱚ

Wajâ'a lmu‘adhdhirûna mina la‘râbi liyûdhana lahum waqa‘ada lladhîna kadhabû llâha warasûlahû sayusîbu lladhîna kafarû minhum ‘adhâbuna lîm

Et parmi les Bédouins, certains sont venus demander d'être dispensés (du combat). Et ceux qui ont menti à Allah et à Son messager sont restés chez eux. Un châtiment douloureux affligera les mécréants d'entre eux

And those with excuses among the bedouins came to be permitted [to remain], and they who had lied to Allah and His Messenger sat [at home]. There will strike those who disbelieved among them a painful punishment

لَّيْسَ عَلَى اَ۬لضُّعَفَآءِ وَلَا عَلَى اَ۬لْمَرْض۪ىٰ وَلَا عَلَى اَ۬لذِينَ لَا يَجِدُونَ مَا يُنفِقُونَ حَرَجٌ اِذَا نَصَحُواْ لِلهِ وَرَسُولِهِۦۖ مَا عَلَى اَ۬لْمُحْسِنِينَ مِن سَبِيلٖۖ وَاللَّهُ غَفُورٞ رَّحِيمٞۖ ﱛ

Laysa ‘alâ ddu‘afâ'i walâ ‘alâ lmardê walâ ‘alâ lladhîna lâ yajidûna mâ yunfiqûna harajuni dhâ nasahû lillâhi warasûlihî mâ ‘alâ lmuhsinîna min sabîlin wallâhu ghafûrur rahîm

Nul grief sur les faibles, ni sur les malades, ni sur ceux qui ne trouvent pas de quoi dépenser (pour la cause d'Allah), s'ils sont sincères envers Allah et Son messager. Pas de reproche contre les bienfaiteurs. Allah est Pardonneur et Miséricordieux

There is not upon the weak or upon the ill or upon those who do not find anything to spend any discomfort when they are sincere to Allah and His Messenger. There is not upon the doers of good any cause [for blame]. And Allah is Forgiving and Merciful

وَلَا عَلَى اَ۬لذِينَ إِذَا مَآ أَتَوْكَ لِتَحْمِلَهُمْ قُلْتَ لَآ أَجِدُ مَآ أَحْمِلُكُمْ عَلَيْهِۖ تَوَلَّواْ وَّأَعْيُنُهُمْ تَفِيضُ مِنَ اَ۬لدَّمْعِ حَزَناً اَلَّا يَجِدُواْ مَا يُنفِقُونَۖ ﱜ

Walâ ‘alâ lladhîna idhâ mâ atawka litahmilahum qulta lâ ajidu mâ ahmilukum ‘alayhi tawallaw wa'a‘yunuhum tafîdu mina ddam‘i hazanana llâ yajidû mâ yunfiqûn

(Pas de reproche) non plus à ceux qui vinrent te trouver pour que tu leur fournisses une monture et à qui tu dis: «Je ne trouve pas de monture pour vous.» Ils retournèrent les yeux débordant de larmes, tristes de ne pas trouver de quoi dépenser

Nor [is there blame] upon those who, when they came to you that you might give them mounts, you said, "I can find nothing for you to ride upon." They turned back while their eyes overflowed with tears out of grief that they could not find something to spend [for the cause of Allah]

۞ إِنَّمَا اَ۬لسَّبِيلُ عَلَى اَ۬لذِينَ يَسْتَٰذِنُونَكَ وَهُمُۥٓ أَغْنِيَآءُۖ رَضُواْ بِأَنْ يَّكُونُواْ مَعَ اَ۬لْخَوَالِفِۖ وَطَبَعَ اَ۬للَّهُ عَلَىٰ قُلُوبِهِمْ فَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَۖ ﱝ

Innamâ ssabîlu ‘alâ lladhîna yastâdhinûnaka wahumû aghniyâ'u radû bi'ay yakûnû ma‘a lkhawâlifi wataba‘a llâhu ‘alâ qulûbihim fahum lâ ya‘lamûn

Il n'y a de voie (de reproche à), vraiment, que contre ceux qui demandent d'être dispensés, alors qu'ils sont riches. Il leur plaît de demeurer avec celles qui sont restées à l'arrière. Et Allah a scellé leurs cœurs et ils ne savent pas

The cause [for blame] is only upon those who ask permission of you while they are rich. They are satisfied to be with those who stay behind, and Allah has sealed over their hearts, so they do not know

يَعْتَذِرُونَ إِلَيْكُمُۥٓ إِذَا رَجَعْتُمُۥٓ إِلَيْهِمْۖ قُل لَّا تَعْتَذِرُواْ لَن نُّومِنَ لَكُمْۖ قَدْ نَبَّأَنَا اَ۬للَّهُ مِنَ اَخْب۪ارِكُمْۖ وَسَيَرَى اَ۬للَّهُ عَمَلَكُمْ وَرَسُولُهُۥۖ ثُمَّ تُرَدُّونَ إِلَىٰ عَٰلِمِ اِ۬لْغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَٰدَةِ فَيُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَۖ ﱞ

Ya‘tadhirûna ilaykumû idhâ raja‘tumû ilayhim qul lâ ta‘tadhirû lan nûmina lakum qad nabba'anâ llâhu mina khbêrikum wasayarâ llâhu ‘amalakum warasûluhû thumma turaddûna ilâ ‘âlimi lghaybi washshahâdati fayunabbî'ukum bimâ kuntum ta‘malûn

Ils vous présentent des excuses quand vous revenez à eux. Dis: «Ne présentez pas d'excuses: nous ne vous croyons pas. Allah nous a déjà informés de vos nouvelles. Et Allah verra votre œuvre, ainsi que Son messager. Puis vous serez ramenés vers Celui qui connaît bien l'invisible et le visible, et alors, Il vous informera de ce que vous faisiez

They will make excuses to you when you have returned to them. Say, "Make no excuse - never will we believe you. Allah has already informed us of your news. And Allah will observe your deeds, and [so will] His Messenger; then you will be taken back to the Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, and He will inform you of what you used to do

سَيَحْلِفُونَ بِاللَّهِ لَكُمُۥٓ إِذَا اَ۪نقَلَبْتُمُۥٓ إِلَيْهِمْ لِتُعْرِضُواْ عَنْهُمْۖ فَأَعْرِضُواْ عَنْهُمُۥٓۖ إِنَّهُمْ رِجْسٞۖ وَمَأْو۪يٰهُمْ جَهَنَّمُۖ جَزَآءَۢ بِمَا كَانُواْ يَكْسِبُونَۖ ﱟ

Sayahlifûna billâhi lakumû idhâ nqalabtumû ilayhim litu‘ridû ‘anhum fa'a‘ridû ‘anhumû innahum rijsun wama'wêhum jahannamu jazâ'am bimâ kânû yaksibûn

Ils vous feront des serments par Allah, quand vous êtes de retour vers eux, afin que vous passiez (sur leur tort). Détournez-vous d'eux. Ils sont une souillure et leur refuge est l'Enfer, en rétribution de ce qu'ils acquéraient

They will swear by Allah to you when you return to them that you would leave them alone. So leave them alone; indeed they are evil; and their refuge is Hell as recompense for what they had been earning

يَحْلِفُونَ لَكُمْ لِتَرْضَوْاْ عَنْهُمْ فَإِن تَرْضَوْاْ عَنْهُمْ فَإِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ لَا يَرْض۪ىٰ عَنِ اِ۬لْقَوْمِ اِ۬لْفَٰسِقِينَۖ ﱠ

Yahlifûna lakum litardaw ‘anhum fa'in tardaw ‘anhum fa'inna llâha lâ yardê ‘ani lqawmi lfâsiqîn

Ils vous font des serments pour se faire agréer de vous, même si vous les agréez, Allah n'agrée pas les gens pervers

They swear to you so that you might be satisfied with them. But if you should be satisfied with them - indeed, Allah is not satisfied with a defiantly disobedient people

اَ۬لَاعْرَابُ أَشَدُّ كُفْراٗ وَنِفَاقاٗ وَأَجْدَرُ أَلَّا يَعْلَمُواْ حُدُودَ مَآ أَنزَلَ اَ۬للَّهُ عَلَىٰ رَسُولِهِۦۖ وَاللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٞۖ ﱡ

Ala‘râbu ashaddu kufran wanifâqan wa'ajdaru allâ ya‘lamû hudûda mâ anzala llâhu ‘alâ rasûlihî wallâhu ‘alîmun hakîm

Les Bédouins sont plus endurcis dans leur impiété et dans leur hypocrisie, et les plus enclins à méconnaître les préceptes qu'Allah a révélés à Son messager. Et Allah est Omniscient et Sage

The bedouins are stronger in disbelief and hypocrisy and more likely not to know the limits of what [laws] Allah has revealed to His Messenger. And Allah is Knowing and Wise

وَمِنَ اَ۬لَاعْرَابِ مَنْ يَّتَّخِذُ مَا يُنفِقُ مَغْرَماٗ وَيَتَرَبَّصُ بِكُمُ اُ۬لدَّوَآئِرَۖ عَلَيْهِمْ دَآئِرَةُ اُ۬لسَّوْءِۖ وَاللَّهُ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٞۖ ﱢ

Wamina la‘râbi may yattakhidhu mâ yunfiqu maghraman wayatarabbasu bikumu ddawâ'ira ‘alayhim dâ'iratu ssaw'i wallâhu samî‘un ‘alîm

Parmi les Bédouins, certains prennent leur dépense (en aumône ou à la guerre) comme une charge onéreuse, et attendent pour vous un revers de fortune. Que le malheur retombe sur eux! Allah est Audient et Omniscient

And among the bedouins are some who consider what they spend as a loss and await for you turns of misfortune. Upon them will be a misfortune of evil. And Allah is Hearing and Knowing

وَمِنَ اَ۬لَاعْرَابِ مَنْ يُّومِنُ بِاللَّهِ وَالْيَوْمِ اِ۬لَاخِرِ وَيَتَّخِذُ مَا يُنفِقُ قُرُبَٰتٍ عِندَ اَ۬للَّهِ وَصَلَوَٰتِ اِ۬لرَّسُولِۖ أَلَآ إِنَّهَا قُرُبَةٞ لَّهُمْۖ سَيُدْخِلُهُمُ اُ۬للَّهُ فِے رَحْمَتِهِۦٓۖ إِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ غَفُورٞ رَّحِيمٞۖ ﱣ

Wamina la‘râbi may yûminu billâhi walyawmi lakhiri wayattakhidhu mâ yunfiqu qurubâtin ‘inda llâhi wasalawâti rrasûli alâ innahâ qurubatul lahum sayudkhiluhumu llâhu fî rahmatihî inna llâha ghafûrur rahîm

(Tel autre,) parmi les Bédouins, croit en Allah et au Jour dernier et prend ce qu'il dépense comme moyen de se rapprocher d'Allah et afin de bénéficier des invocations du Messager. C'est vraiment pour eux (un moyen) de se rapprocher (d'Allah) et Allah les admettra en Sa miséricorde. Car Allah est Pardonneur et Miséricordieux

But among the bedouins are some who believe in Allah and the Last Day and consider what they spend as means of nearness to Allah and of [obtaining] invocations of the Messenger. Unquestionably, it is a means of nearness for them. Allah will admit them to His mercy. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful

وَالسَّٰبِقُونَ اَ۬لَاوَّلُونَ مِنَ اَ۬لْمُهَٰجِرِينَ وَالَانص۪ارِ وَالذِينَ اَ۪تَّبَعُوهُم بِإِحْسَٰنٖ رَّضِيَ اَ۬للَّهُ عَنْهُمْ وَرَضُواْ عَنْهُۖ وَأَعَدَّ لَهُمْ جَنَّٰتٖ تَجْرِے تَحْتَهَا اَ۬لَانْهَٰرُ خَٰلِدِينَ فِيهَآ أَبَداٗۖ ذَٰلِكَ اَ۬لْفَوْزُ اُ۬لْعَظِيمُۖ ﱤ

Wassâbiqûna lawwalûna mina lmuhâjirîna walansêri walladhîna ttaba‘ûhum bi'ihsânir radiya llâhu ‘anhum waradû ‘anhu wa'a‘adda lahum jannâtin tajrî tahtahâ lanhâru khâlidîna fîhâ abadan dhâlika lfawzu l‘azîm

Les tout premiers [croyants] parmi les Emigrés et les Auxiliaires et ceux qui les ont suivis dans un beau comportement, Allah les agrée, et ils L'agréent. Il a préparé pour eux des Jardins sous lesquels coulent les ruisseaux, et ils y demeureront éternellement. Voilà l'énorme succès

And the first forerunners [in the faith] among the Muhajireen and the Ansar and those who followed them with good conduct - Allah is pleased with them and they are pleased with Him, and He has prepared for them gardens beneath which rivers flow, wherein they will abide forever. That is the great attainment

۞ وَمِمَّنْ حَوْلَكُم مِّنَ اَ۬لَاعْرَابِ مُنَٰفِقُونَۖ وَمِنَ اَهْلِ اِ۬لْمَدِينَةِ مَرَدُواْ عَلَى اَ۬لنِّفَاقِ لَا تَعْلَمُهُمْۖ نَحْنُ نَعْلَمُهُمْۖ سَنُعَذِّبُهُم مَّرَّتَيْنِ ثُمَّ يُرَدُّونَ إِلَىٰ عَذَابٍ عَظِيمٖۖ ﱥ

Wamimman hawlakum mina la‘râbi munâfiqûna wamina hli lmadînati maradû ‘alâ nnifâqi lâ ta‘lamuhum nahnu na‘lamuhum sanu‘adhdhibuhum marratayni thumma yuraddûna ilâ ‘adhâbin ‘azîm

Et parmi les Bédouins qui vous entourent, il y a des hypocrites, tout comme une partie des habitants de Médine. Ils s'obstinent dans l'hypocrisie. Tu ne les connais pas mais Nous les connaissons. Nous les châtierons deux fois puis ils seront ramenés vers un énorme châtiment

And among those around you of the bedouins are hypocrites, and [also] from the people of Madinah. They have become accustomed to hypocrisy. You, [O Muhammad], do not know them, [but] We know them. We will punish them twice [in this world]; then they will be returned to a great punishment

وَءَاخَرُونَ اَ۪عْتَرَفُواْ بِذُنُوبِهِمْ خَلَطُواْ عَمَلاٗ صَٰلِحاٗ وَءَاخَرَ سَيِّئاً عَسَى اَ۬للَّهُ أَنْ يَّتُوبَ عَلَيْهِمُۥٓۖ إِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ غَفُورٞ رَّحِيمٌۖ ﱦ

Wa'âkharûna ‘tarafû bidhunûbihim khalatû ‘amalan sâlihan wa'âkhara sayyî'an ‘asâ llâhu ay yatûba ‘alayhimû inna llâha ghafûrur rahîm

D'autres ont reconnu leurs péchés, ils ont mêlé de bonnes actions à d'autres mauvaises. Il se peut qu'Allah accueille leur repentir. Car Allah est Pardonneur et Miséricordieux

And [there are] others who have acknowledged their sins. They had mixed a righteous deed with another that was bad. Perhaps Allah will turn to them in forgiveness. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful

خُذْ مِنَ اَمْوَٰلِهِمْ صَدَقَةٗ تُطَهِّرُهُمْ وَتُزَكِّيهِم بِهَا وَصَلِّ عَلَيْهِمُۥٓۖ إِنَّ صَلَوَٰتِكَ سَكَنٞ لَّهُمْۖ وَاللَّهُ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌۖ ﱧ

Khudh mina mwâlihim sadaqatan tutahhiruhum watuzakkîhim bihâ wasalli ‘alayhimû inna salawâtika sakanul lahum wallâhu samî‘un ‘alîm

Prélève de leurs biens une Sadaqa par laquelle tu les purifies et les bénis, et prie pour eux. Ta prière est une quiétude pour eux. Et Allah est Audient et Omniscient

Take, [O, Muhammad], from their wealth a charity by which you purify them and cause them increase, and invoke [Allah 's blessings] upon them. Indeed, your invocations are reassurance for them. And Allah is Hearing and Knowing

اَلَمْ يَعْلَمُوٓاْ أَنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ هُوَ يَقْبَلُ اُ۬لتَّوْبَةَ عَنْ عِبَادِهِۦ وَيَاخُذُ اُ۬لصَّدَقَٰتِ وَأَنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ هُوَ اَ۬لتَّوَّابُ اُ۬لرَّحِيمُۖ ﱨ

Alam ya‘lamû anna llâha huwa yaqbalu ttawbata ‘an ‘ibâdihî wayâkhudhu ssadaqâti wa'anna llâha huwa ttawwâbu rrahîm

Ne savent-ils pas que c'est Allah qui accueille le repentir de Ses serviteurs, et qui reçoit les Sadaqât, et qu'Allah est L'Accueillant au repentir et le Miséricordieux

Do they not know that it is Allah who accepts repentance from His servants and receives charities and that it is Allah who is the Accepting of repentance, the Merciful

وَقُلِ اِ۪عْمَلُواْ فَسَيَرَى اَ۬للَّهُ عَمَلَكُمْ وَرَسُولُهُۥ وَالْمُومِنُونَۖ وَسَتُرَدُّونَ إِلَىٰ عَٰلِمِ اِ۬لْغَيْبِ وَالشَّهَٰدَةِ فَيُنَبِّئُكُم بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَۖ ﱩ

Waquli ‘malû fasayarâ llâhu ‘amalakum warasûluhû walmûminûna wasaturaddûna ilâ ‘âlimi lghaybi washshahâdati fayunabbî'ukum bimâ kuntum ta‘malûn

Et dis: «Oeuvrez, car Allah va voir votre œuvre, de même que Son messager et les croyants, et vous serez ramenés vers Celui qui connaît bien l'invisible et le visible. Alors Il vous informera de ce que vous faisiez»

And say, "Do [as you will], for Allah will see your deeds, and [so, will] His Messenger and the believers. And you will be returned to the Knower of the unseen and the witnessed, and He will inform you of what you used to do

وَءَاخَرُونَ مُرْجَوْنَ لِأَمْرِ اِ۬للَّهِ إِمَّا يُعَذِّبُهُمْ وَإِمَّا يَتُوبُ عَلَيْهِمْۖ وَاللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٌۖ ﱪ

Wa'âkharûna murjawna li'amri llâhi immâ yu‘adhdhibuhum wa'immâ yatûbu ‘alayhim wallâhu ‘alîmun hakîm

Et d'autres sont laissés dans l'attente de la décision d'Allah, soit qu'Il les punisse, soit qu'Il leur pardonne. Et Allah est Omniscient et Sage

And [there are] others deferred until the command of Allah - whether He will punish them or whether He will forgive them. And Allah is Knowing and Wise

اِ۬لذِينَ اَ۪تَّخَذُواْ مَسْجِداٗ ضِرَاراٗ وَكُفْراٗ وَتَفْرِيقاَۢ بَيْنَ اَ۬لْمُومِنِينَ وَإِرْصَاداٗ لِّمَنْ حَارَبَ اَ۬للَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُۥ مِن قَبْلُۖ وَلَيَحْلِفُنَّ إِنَ اَرَدْنَآ إِلَّا اَ۬لْحُسْن۪ىٰۖ وَاللَّهُ يَشْهَدُ إِنَّهُمْ لَكَٰذِبُونَۖ ﱫ

Alladhîna ttakhadhû masjidan dirâran wakufran watafrîqam bayna lmûminîna wa'irsâdal liman hâraba llâha warasûlahû min qablu walayahlifunna ina radnâ illâ lhusnê wallâhu yashhadu innahum lakâdhibûn

Ceux qui ont édifié une mosquée pour en faire [un mobile] de rivalité, d'impiété et de division entre les croyants, qui la préparent pour celui qui auparavant avait combattu Allah et son Envoyé et jurent en disant: «Nous ne voulions que le bien!» [Ceux-là], Allah atteste qu'ils mentent

And [there are] those [hypocrites] who took for themselves a mosque for causing harm and disbelief and division among the believers and as a station for whoever had warred against Allah and His Messenger before. And they will surely swear, "We intended only the best." And Allah testifies that indeed they are liars

لَا تَقُمْ فِيهِ أَبَداٗۖ لَّمَسْجِدٌ ا۟سِّسَ عَلَى اَ۬لتَّقْو۪ىٰ مِنَ اَوَّلِ يَوْمٍ اَحَقُّ أَن تَقُومَ فِيهِۖ فِيهِ رِجَالٞ يُحِبُّونَ أَنْ يَّتَطَهَّرُواْۖ وَاللَّهُ يُحِبُّ اُ۬لْمُطَّهِّرِينَۖ ﱬ

Lâ taqum fîhi abadal lamasjidun ussisa ‘alâ ttaqwê mina wwali yawmina haqqu an taqûma fîhi fîhi rijâlun yuhibbûna ay yatatahharû wallâhu yuhibbu lmuttahhirîn

Ne te tiens jamais dans (cette mosquée). Car une Mosquée fondée dès le premier jour, sur la piété, est plus digne que tu t'y tiennes debout [pour y prier]. On y trouve des gens qui aiment bien se purifier, et Allah aime ceux qui se purifient

Do not stand [for prayer] within it - ever. A mosque founded on righteousness from the first day is more worthy for you to stand in. Within it are men who love to purify themselves; and Allah loves those who purify themselves

أَفَمَنُ ا۟سِّسَ بُنْيَٰنُهُۥ عَلَىٰ تَقْو۪ىٰ مِنَ اَ۬للَّهِ وَرِضْوَٰنٍ خَيْرٌ اَم مَّنُ ا۟سِّسَ بُنْيَٰنُهُۥ عَلَىٰ شَفَا جُرُفٍ ه۪ارٖ فَانْهَارَ بِهِۦ فِے ن۪ارِ جَهَنَّمَۖ وَاللَّهُ لَا يَهْدِے اِ۬لْقَوْمَ اَ۬لظَّٰلِمِينَۖ ﱭ

Afamanu ussisa bunyânuhû ‘alâ taqwê mina llâhi waridwânin khayruna m manu ussisa bunyânuhû ‘alâ shafâ jurufin hêrin fanhâra bihî fî nêri jahannama wallâhu lâ yahdî lqawma zzâlimîn

Lequel est plus méritant? Est-ce celui qui a fondé son édifice sur la piété et l'agrément d'Allah, ou bien celui qui a placé les assises de sa construction sur le bord d'une falaise croulante et qui croula avec lui dans le feu de l'Enfer? Et Allah ne guide pas les gens injustes

Then is one who laid the foundation of his building on righteousness [with fear] from Allah and [seeking] His approval better or one who laid the foundation of his building on the edge of a bank about to collapse, so it collapsed with him into the fire of Hell? And Allah does not guide the wrongdoing people

لَا يَزَالُ بُنْيَٰنُهُمُ اُ۬لذِے بَنَوْاْ رِيبَةٗ فِے قُلُوبِهِمُۥٓ إِلَّآ أَن تُقَطَّعَ قُلُوبُهُمْۖ وَاللَّهُ عَلِيمٌ حَكِيمٌۖ ﱮ

Lâ yazâlu bunyânuhumu lladhî banaw rîbatan fî qulûbihimû illâ an tuqatta‘a qulûbuhum wallâhu ‘alîmun hakîm

La construction qu'ils ont édifiée sera toujours une source de doute dans leurs cœurs, jusqu'à ce que leurs cœurs se déchirent. Et Allah est Omniscient et Sage

Their building which they built will not cease to be a [cause of] skepticism in their hearts until their hearts are stopped. And Allah is Knowing and Wise

۞ اِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ اَ۪شْتَر۪ىٰ مِنَ اَ۬لْمُومِنِينَ أَنفُسَهُمْ وَأَمْوَٰلَهُم بِأَنَّ لَهُمُ اُ۬لْجَنَّةَۖ يُقَٰتِلُونَ فِے سَبِيلِ اِ۬للَّهِ فَيَقْتُلُونَ وَيُقْتَلُونَ وَعْداً عَلَيْهِ حَقّاٗ فِے اِ۬لتَّوْر۪يٰةِ وَالِانجِيلِ وَالْقُرْءَانِۖ وَمَنَ اَوْف۪ىٰ بِعَهْدِهِۦ مِنَ اَ۬للَّهِۖ فَاسْتَبْشِرُواْ بِبَيْعِكُمُ اُ۬لذِے بَايَعْتُم بِهِۦۖ وَذَٰلِكَ هُوَ اَ۬لْفَوْزُ اُ۬لْعَظِيمُۖ ﱯ

Inna llâha shtarê mina lmûminîna anfusahum wa'amwâlahum bi'anna lahumu ljannata yuqâtilûna fî sabîli llâhi fayaqtulûna wayuqtalûna wa‘dan ‘alayhi haqqan fî ttawrêti walinjîli walqur'âni wamana wfê bi‘ahdihî mina llâhi fastabshirû bibay‘ikumu lladhî bâya‘tum bihî wadhâlika huwa lfawzu l‘azîm

Certes, Allah a acheté des croyants, leurs personnes et leurs biens en échange du Paradis. Ils combattent dans le sentier d'Allah: ils tuent, et ils se font tuer. C'est une promesse authentique qu'Il a prise sur Lui-même dans la Thora, l'Evangile et le Coran. Et qui est plus fidèle qu'Allah à son engagement? Réjouissez-vous donc de l'échange que vous avez fait: Et c'est là le très grand succès

Indeed, Allah has purchased from the believers their lives and their properties [in exchange] for that they will have Paradise. They fight in the cause of Allah, so they kill and are killed. [It is] a true promise [binding] upon Him in the Torah and the Gospel and the Qur'an. And who is truer to his covenant than Allah? So rejoice in your transaction which you have contracted. And it is that which is the great attainment

اُ۬لتَّٰٓئِبُونَ اَ۬لْعَٰبِدُونَ اَ۬لْحَٰمِدُونَ اَ۬لسَّٰٓئِحُونَ اَ۬لرَّٰكِعُونَ اَ۬لسَّٰجِدُونَ اَ۬لَامِرُونَ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ وَالنَّاهُونَ عَنِ اِ۬لْمُنكَرِ وَالْحَٰفِظُونَ لِحُدُودِ اِ۬للَّهِۖ وَبَشِّرِ اِ۬لْمُومِنِينَۖ ﱰ

Attâ'ibûna l‘âbidûna lhâmidûna ssâ'ihûna rrâki‘ûna ssâjidûna lamirûna bilma‘rûfi wannâhûna ‘ani lmunkari walhâfizûna lihudûdi llâhi wabashshiri lmûminîn

Ils sont ceux qui se repentent, qui adorent, qui louent, qui parcourent la terre (ou qui jeûnent), qui s'inclinent, qui se prosternent, qui commandent le convenable et interdisent le blâmable et qui observent les lois d'Allah... et fais bonne annonce aux croyants

[Such believers are] the repentant, the worshippers, the praisers [of Allah], the travelers [for His cause], those who bow and prostrate [in prayer], those who enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong, and those who observe the limits [set by] Allah. And give good tidings to the believers

مَا كَانَ لِلنَّبِےٓءِ وَالذِينَ ءَامَنُوٓاْ أَنْ يَّسْتَغْفِرُواْ لِلْمُشْرِكِينَ وَلَوْ كَانُوٓاْ أُوْلِے قُرْب۪ىٰ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُمُۥٓ أَنَّهُمُۥٓ أَصْحَٰبُ اُ۬لْجَحِيمِۖ ﱱ

Mâ kâna linnabî'i walladhîna âmanû ay yastaghfirû lilmushrikîna walaw kânû ulî qurbê mim ba‘di mâ tabayyana lahumû annahumû ashâbu ljahîm

Il n'appartient pas au Prophète et aux croyants d'implorer le pardon en faveur des associateurs, fussent-ils des parents alors qu'il leur est apparu clairement que ce sont les gens de l'Enfer

It is not for the Prophet and those who have believed to ask forgiveness for the polytheists, even if they were relatives, after it has become clear to them that they are companions of Hellfire

وَمَا كَانَ اَ۪سْتِغْفَارُ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ لِأَبِيهِ إِلَّا عَن مَّوْعِدَةٖ وَعَدَهَآ إِيَّاهُۖ فَلَمَّا تَبَيَّنَ لَهُۥٓ أَنَّهُۥ عَدُوّٞ لِّلهِ تَبَرَّأَ مِنْهُۖ إِنَّ إِبْرَٰهِيمَ لَأَوَّٰهٌ حَلِيمٞۖ ﱲ

Wamâ kâna stighfâru ibrâhîma li'abîhi illâ ‘am maw‘idatin wa‘adahâ iyyâhu falammâ tabayyana lahû annahû ‘aduwwun lillâhi tabarra'a minhu inna ibrâhîma la'awwâhun halîm

Abraham ne demanda pardon en faveur de son père qu'à cause d'une promesse qu'il lui avait faite. Mais, dès qu'il lui apparut clairement qu'il était un ennemi d'Allah, il le désavoua. Abraham était certes plein de sollicitude et indulgent

And the request of forgiveness of Abraham for his father was only because of a promise he had made to him. But when it became apparent to Abraham that his father was an enemy to Allah, he disassociated himself from him. Indeed was Abraham compassionate and patient

وَمَا كَانَ اَ۬للَّهُ لِيُضِلَّ قَوْماَۢ بَعْدَ إِذْ هَد۪يٰهُمْ حَتَّىٰ يُبَيِّنَ لَهُم مَّا يَتَّقُونَۖ إِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ بِكُلِّ شَےْءٍ عَلِيمٌۖ ﱳ

Wamâ kâna llâhu liyudilla qawmam ba‘da idh hadêhum hattâ yubayyina lahum mâ yattaqûna inna llâha bikulli shay'in ‘alîm

Allah n'est point tel à égarer un peuple après qu'Il les a guidés, jusqu'à ce qu'Il leur ait montré clairement ce qu'ils doivent éviter. Certes, Allah est Omniscient

And Allah would not let a people stray after He has guided them until He makes clear to them what they should avoid. Indeed, Allah is Knowing of all things

اِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ لَهُۥ مُلْكُ اُ۬لسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَالَارْضِۖ يُحْيِۦ وَيُمِيتُۖ وَمَا لَكُم مِّن دُونِ اِ۬للَّهِ مِنْ وَّلِيّٖ وَلَا نَصِيرٖۖ ﱴ

Inna llâha lahû mulku ssamâwâti walardi yuhyî wayumîtu wamâ lakum min dûni llâhi miw waliyyin walâ nasîr

A Allah appartient la royauté des cieux et de la terre. Il donne la vie et Il donne la mort. Et il n'y a pour vous, en dehors d'Allah, ni allié ni protecteur

Indeed, to Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth; He gives life and causes death. And you have not besides Allah any protector or any helper

۞ لَّقَد تَّابَ اَ۬للَّهُ عَلَى اَ۬لنَّبِےٓءِ وَالْمُهَٰجِرِينَ وَالَانص۪ارِ اِ۬لذِينَ اَ۪تَّبَعُوهُ فِے سَاعَةِ اِ۬لْعُسْرَةِ مِنۢ بَعْدِ مَا كَادَ تَزِيغُ قُلُوبُ فَرِيقٖ مِّنْهُمْ ثُمَّ تَابَ عَلَيْهِمُۥٓۖ إِنَّهُۥ بِهِمْ رَءُوفٞ رَّحِيمٞ ﱵ

Laqad tâba llâhu ‘alâ nnabî'i walmuhâjirîna walansêri lladhîna ttaba‘ûhu fî sâ‘ati l‘usrati mim ba‘di mâ kâda tazîghu qulûbu farîqim minhum thumma tâba ‘alayhimû innahû bihim ra'ûfur rahîm

Allah a accueilli le repentir du Prophète, celui des Emigrés et des Auxiliaires qui l'ont suivi à un moment difficile, après que les cœurs d'un groupe d'entre eux étaient sur le point de dévier. Puis Il accueillit leur repentir car Il est Compatissant et Miséricordieux à leur égard

Allah has already forgiven the Prophet and the Muhajireen and the Ansar who followed him in the hour of difficulty after the hearts of a party of them had almost inclined [to doubt], and then He forgave them. Indeed, He was to them Kind and Merciful

وَعَلَى اَ۬لثَّلَٰثَةِ اِ۬لذِينَ خُلِّفُواْۖ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا ضَاقَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ اُ۬لَارْضُ بِمَا رَحُبَتْ وَضَاقَتْ عَلَيْهِمُۥٓ أَنفُسُهُمْ وَظَنُّوٓاْ أَن لَّا مَلْجَأَ مِنَ اَ۬للَّهِ إِلَّآ إِلَيْهِ ثُمَّ تَابَ عَلَيْهِمْ لِيَتُوبُوٓاْۖ إِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ هُوَ اَ۬لتَّوَّابُ اُ۬لرَّحِيمُۖ ﱶ

Wa‘alâ ththalâthati lladhîna khullifû hattâ idhâ dâqat ‘alayhimu lardu bimâ rahubat wadâqat ‘alayhimû anfusuhum wazannû al lâ malja'a mina llâhi illâ ilayhi thumma tâba ‘alayhim liyatûbû inna llâha huwa ttawwâbu rrahîm

Et [Il accueillit le repentir] des trois qui étaient restés à l'arrière si bien que, toute vaste qu'elle fût, la terre leur paraissait exiguë; ils se sentaient à l'étroit, dans leur propre personne et ils pensaient qu'il n'y avait d'autre refuge d'Allah qu'auprès de Lui. Puis Il agréa leur repentir pour qu'ils reviennent [à Lui], car Allah est l'accueillant au repentir, le Miséricordieux

And [He also forgave] the three who were left behind [and regretted their error] to the point that the earth closed in on them in spite of its vastness and their souls confined them and they were certain that there is no refuge from Allah except in Him. Then He turned to them so they could repent. Indeed, Allah is the Accepting of repentance, the Merciful

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا اَ۬لذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ اُ۪تَّقُواْ اُ۬للَّهَ وَكُونُواْ مَعَ اَ۬لصَّٰدِقِينَۖ ﱷ

Yâ'ayyuhâ lladhîna âmanû ttaqû llâha wakûnû ma‘a ssâdiqîn

O vous qui croyez! Craignez Allah et soyez avec les véridiques

O you who have believed, fear Allah and be with those who are true

مَا كَانَ لِأَهْلِ اِ۬لْمَدِينَةِ وَمَنْ حَوْلَهُم مِّنَ اَ۬لَاعْرَابِ أَنْ يَّتَخَلَّفُواْ عَن رَّسُولِ اِ۬للَّهِ وَلَا يَرْغَبُواْ بِأَنفُسِهِمْ عَن نَّفْسِهِۦۖ ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ لَا يُصِيبُهُمْ ظَمَأٞ وَلَا نَصَبٞ وَلَا مَخْمَصَةٞ فِے سَبِيلِ اِ۬للَّهِ وَلَا يَطَـُٔونَ مَوْطِئاٗ يَغِيظُ اُ۬لْكُفَّارَ وَلَا يَنَالُونَ مِنْ عَدُوّٖ نَّيْلاً اِلَّا كُتِبَ لَهُم بِهِۦ عَمَلٞ صَٰلِحٌۖ اِنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ لَا يُضِيعُ أَجْرَ اَ۬لْمُحْسِنِينَۖ ﱸ

Mâ kâna li'ahli lmadînati waman hawlahum mina la‘râbi ay yatakhallafû ‘ar rasûli llâhi walâ yarghabû bi'anfusihim ‘an nafsihî dhâlika bi'annahum lâ yusîbuhum zama'un walâ nasabun walâ makhmasatun fî sabîli llâhi walâ yata'ûna mawtî'an yaghîzu lkuffâra walâ yanâlûna min ‘aduwwin naylani llâ kutiba lahum bihî ‘amalun sâlihuni nna llâha lâ yudî‘u ajra lmuhsinîn

Il n'appartient pas aux habitants de Médine, ni aux Bédouins qui sont autour d'eux, de traîner loin derrière le Messager d'Allah, ni de préférer leur propre vie à la sienne. Car ils n'éprouveront ni soif, ni fatigue, ni faim dans le sentier d'Allah, ils ne fouleront aucune terre en provoquant la colère des infidèles, et n'obtiendront aucun avantage sur un ennemi, sans qu'il ne leur soit écrit pour cela une bonne action. En vérité Allah ne laisse pas perdre la récompense des bienfaiteurs

It was not [proper] for the people of Madinah and those surrounding them of the bedouins that they remain behind after [the departure of] the Messenger of Allah or that they prefer themselves over his self. That is because they are not afflicted by thirst or fatigue or hunger in the cause of Allah, nor do they tread on any ground that enrages the disbelievers, nor do they inflict upon an enemy any infliction but that is registered for them as a righteous deed. Indeed, Allah does not allow to be lost the reward of the doers of good

وَلَا يُنفِقُونَ نَفَقَةٗ صَغِيرَةٗ وَلَا كَبِيرَةٗ وَلَا يَقْطَعُونَ وَادِياً اِلَّا كُتِبَ لَهُمْۖ لِيَجْزِيَهُمُ اُ۬للَّهُ أَحْسَنَ مَا كَانُواْ يَعْمَلُونَۖ ﱹ

Walâ yunfiqûna nafaqatan saghîratan walâ kabîratan walâ yaqta‘ûna wâdîani llâ kutiba lahum liyajziyahumu llâhu ahsana mâ kânû ya‘malûn

Ils ne supporteront aucune dépense, minime ou importante, ne traverseront aucune vallée, sans que (cela) ne soit inscrit à leur actif, en sorte qu'Allah les récompense pour le meilleur de ce qu'ils faisaient

Nor do they spend an expenditure, small or large, or cross a valley but that it is registered for them that Allah may reward them for the best of what they were doing

وَمَا كَانَ اَ۬لْمُومِنُونَ لِيَنفِرُواْ كَآفَّةٗۖ فَلَوْلَا نَفَرَ مِن كُلِّ فِرْقَةٖ مِّنْهُمْ طَآئِفَةٞ لِّيَتَفَقَّهُواْ فِے اِ۬لدِّينِ وَلِيُنذِرُواْ قَوْمَهُمُۥٓ إِذَا رَجَعُوٓاْ إِلَيْهِمْ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَحْذَرُونَۖ ﱺ

Wamâ kâna lmûminûna liyanfirû kâffatan falawlâ nafara min kulli firqatim minhum tâ'ifatul liyatafaqqahû fî ddîni waliyundhirû qawmahumû idhâ raja‘û ilayhim la‘allahum yahdharûn

Les croyants n'ont pas à quitter tous leurs foyers. Pourquoi de chaque clan quelques hommes ne viendraient-ils pas s'instruire dans la religion, pour pouvoir à leur retour, avertir leur peuple afin qu'ils soient sur leur garde

And it is not for the believers to go forth [to battle] all at once. For there should separate from every division of them a group [remaining] to obtain understanding in the religion and warn their people when they return to them that they might be cautious

۞ يَٰٓأَيُّهَا اَ۬لذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ قَٰتِلُواْ اُ۬لذِينَ يَلُونَكُم مِّنَ اَ۬لْكُفّ۪ارِ وَلْيَجِدُواْ فِيكُمْ غِلْظَةٗۖ وَاعْلَمُوٓاْ أَنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ مَعَ اَ۬لْمُتَّقِينَۖ ﱻ

Yâ'ayyuhâ lladhîna âmanû qâtilû lladhîna yalûnakum mina lkuffêri walyajidû fîkum ghilzatan wa‘lamû anna llâha ma‘a lmuttaqîn

O vous qui croyez! Combattez ceux des mécréants qui sont près de vous; et qu'ils trouvent de la dureté en vous. Et sachez qu'Allah est avec les pieux

O you who have believed, fight those adjacent to you of the disbelievers and let them find in you harshness. And know that Allah is with the righteous

وَإِذَا مَآ أُنزِلَتْ سُورَةٞ فَمِنْهُم مَّنْ يَّقُولُ أَيُّكُمْ زَادَتْهُ هَٰذِهِۦٓ إِيمَٰناٗۖ فَأَمَّا اَ۬لذِينَ ءَامَنُواْ فَزَادَتْهُمُۥٓ إِيمَٰناٗ وَهُمْ يَسْتَبْشِرُونَۖ ﱼ

Wa'idhâ mâ unzilat sûratun faminhum may yaqûlu ayyukum zâdathu hâdhihî îmânan fa'ammâ lladhîna âmanû fazâdathumû îmânan wahum yastabshirûn

Et quand une Sourate est révélée, il en est parmi eux qui dit: «Quel est celui d'entre vous dont elle fait croître la foi?» Quant aux croyants, elle fait certes croître leur foi, et ils s'en réjouissent

And whenever a surah is revealed, there are among the hypocrites those who say, "Which of you has this increased faith?" As for those who believed, it has increased them in faith, while they are rejoicing

وَأَمَّا اَ۬لذِينَ فِے قُلُوبِهِم مَّرَضٞ فَزَادَتْهُمْ رِجْساً اِلَىٰ رِجْسِهِمْ وَمَاتُواْ وَهُمْ كَٰفِرُونَۖ ﱽ

Wa'ammâ lladhîna fî qulûbihim maradun fazâdathum rijsani lâ rijsihim wamâtû wahum kâfirûn

Mais quant à ceux dont les cœurs sont malades, elle ajoute une souillure à leur souillure, et ils meurent dans la mécréance

But as for those in whose hearts is disease, it has [only] increased them in evil [in addition] to their evil. And they will have died while they are disbelievers

أَوَلَا يَرَوْنَ أَنَّهُمْ يُفْتَنُونَ فِے كُلِّ عَامٖ مَّرَّةً اَوْ مَرَّتَيْنِ ثُمَّ لَا يَتُوبُونَ وَلَا هُمْ يَذَّكَّرُونَۖ ﱾ

Awalâ yarawna annahum yuftanûna fî kulli ‘âmim marratana w marratayni thumma lâ yatûbûna walâ hum yadhdhakkarûn

Ne voient-ils pas que chaque année on les éprouve une ou deux fois? Malgré cela, ils ne se repentent, ni ne se souviennent

Do they not see that they are tried every year once or twice but then they do not repent nor do they remember

وَإِذَا مَآ أُنزِلَتْ سُورَةٞ نَّظَرَ بَعْضُهُمُۥٓ إِلَىٰ بَعْضٍ هَلْ يَر۪يٰكُم مِّنَ اَحَدٖ ثُمَّ اَ۪نصَرَفُواْۖ صَرَفَ اَ۬للَّهُ قُلُوبَهُم بِأَنَّهُمْ قَوْمٞ لَّا يَفْقَهُونَۖ ﱿ

Wa'idhâ mâ unzilat sûratun nazara ba‘duhumû ilâ ba‘din hal yarêkum mina hadin thumma nsarafû sarafa llâhu qulûbahum bi'annahum qawmul lâ yafqahûn

Et quand une Sourate est révélée, ils se regardent les uns les autres [et se disent]: «Quelqu'un vous voit-il?» Puis ils se détournent. Qu'Allah détourne leurs cœurs, puisque ce sont des gens qui ne comprennent rien

And whenever a surah is revealed, they look at each other, [saying], "Does anyone see you?" and then they dismiss themselves. Allah has dismissed their hearts because they are a people who do not understand

لَقَدْ جَآءَكُمْ رَسُولٞ مِّنَ اَنفُسِكُمْ عَزِيزٌ عَلَيْهِ مَا عَنِتُّمْۖ حَرِيصٌ عَلَيْكُمۖ بِالْمُومِنِينَ رَءُوفٞ رَّحِيمٞۖ ﲀ

Laqad jâ'akum rasûlum mina nfusikum ‘azîzun ‘alayhi mâ ‘anittum harîsun ‘alaykum bilmûminîna ra'ûfur rahîm

Certes, un Messager pris parmi vous, est venu à vous, auquel pèsent lourd les difficultés que vous subissez, qui est plein de sollicitude pour vous, qui est compatissant et miséricordieux envers les croyants

There has certainly come to you a Messenger from among yourselves. Grievous to him is what you suffer; [he is] concerned over you and to the believers is kind and merciful

فَإِن تَوَلَّوْاْ فَقُلْ حَسْبِيَ اَ۬للَّهُۖ لَآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَۖ عَلَيْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُۖ وَهُوَ رَبُّ اُ۬لْعَرْشِ اِ۬لْعَظِيمِۖ ﲁ

Fa'in tawallaw faqul hasbiya llâhu lâ ilâha illâ huwa ‘alayhi tawakkaltu wahuwa rabbu l‘arshi l‘azîm

Alors, s'ils se détournent dis: «Allah me suffit. Il n'y a de divinité que Lui. En Lui je place ma confiance; et Il est le Seigneur du Trône immense»

But if they turn away, [O Muhammad], say, "Sufficient for me is Allah; there is no deity except Him. On Him I have relied, and He is the Lord of the Great Throne
