بِسْمِ اِ۬للَّهِ اِ۬لرَّحْمَٰنِ اِ۬لرَّحِيمِ Au nom d'Allah, le Tout Miséricordieux, le Très Miséricordieux. In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.
اَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِأَصْحَٰبِ اِ۬لْفِيلِۖ ﰀ
Alif lâm mîm tara kayfa fa‘ala rabbuka bi'ashâbi lfîl
N'as-tu pas vu comment ton Seigneur a agi envers les gens de l'Eléphant
Have you not considered, [O Muhammad], how your Lord dealt with the companions of the elephant
أَلَمْ يَجْعَلْ كَيْدَهُمْ فِے تَضْلِيلٖ ﰁ
Alam yaj‘al kaydahum fî tadlîl
N'a-t-Il pas rendu leur ruse complètement vaine
Did He not make their plan into misguidance
وَأَرْسَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ طَيْراً اَبَابِيلَ ﰂ
Wa'arsala ‘alayhim tayrana bâbîl
et envoyé sur eux des oiseaux par volées
And He sent against them birds in flocks
تَرْمِيهِم بِحِجَارَةٖ مِّن سِجِّيلٖ ﰃ
Tarmîhim bihijâratim min sijjîl
qui leur lançaient des pierres d'argile
Striking them with stones of hard clay
فَجَعَلَهُمْ كَعَصْفٖ مَّاكُولٖۖ ﰄ
Faja‘alahum ka‘asfim mâkûl
Et Il les a rendus semblables à une paille mâchée
And He made them like eaten straw
