اَ۪قْرَأْ بِاسْمِ رَبِّكَ اَ۬لذِے خَلَقَۖ ﰀ

Aqra' bismi rabbika lladhî khalaq

Lis, au nom de ton Seigneur qui a créé

Recite in the name of your Lord who created

خَلَقَ اَ۬لِانسَٰنَ مِنْ عَلَقٍۖ ﰁ

Khalaqa linsâna min ‘alaq

qui a créé l'homme d'une adhérence

Created man from a clinging substance

اِ۪قْرَأْ وَرَبُّكَ اَ۬لَاكْرَمُ ﰂ

Iqra' warabbuka lakram

Lis! Ton Seigneur est le Très Noble

Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous

اُ۬لذِے عَلَّمَ بِالْقَلَمِ ﰃ

Alladhî ‘allama bilqalam

qui a enseigné par la plume [le calame]

Who taught by the pen

عَلَّمَ اَ۬لِانسَٰنَ مَا لَمْ يَعْلَمْۖ ﰄ

‘allama linsâna mâ lam ya‘lam

a enseigné à l'homme ce qu'il ne savait pas

Taught man that which he knew not

كَلَّآ إِنَّ اَ۬لِانسَٰنَ لَيَطْغ۪ىٰٓ ﰅ

Kallâ inna linsâna layatghê

Prenez-garde! Vraiment l'homme devient rebelle

No! [But] indeed, man transgresses

أَن رّ۪ء۪اهُ اُ۪سْتَغْن۪ىٰٓۖ ﰆ

Ar re'êhu staghnê

dès qu'il estime qu'il peut se suffire à lui-même (à cause de sa richesse)

Because he sees himself self-sufficient

إِنَّ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ اَ۬لرُّجْع۪ىٰٓۖ ﰇ

Inna ilâ rabbika rruj‘ê

Mais, c'est vers ton Seigneur qu'est le retour

Indeed, to your Lord is the return

أَرَٰٓيْتَ اَ۬لذِے يَنْه۪ىٰ ﰈ

Arâyta lladhî yanhê

As-tu vu celui qui interdit

Have you seen the one who forbids

عَبْداً اِذَا صَلّ۪ىٰٓۖ ﰉ

‘abdani dhâ sallê

à un serviteur d'Allah [Muhammad] de célébrer la Salât

A servant when he prays

أَرَٰٓيْتَ إِن كَانَ عَلَى اَ۬لْهُد۪ىٰٓ ﰊ

Arâyta in kâna ‘alâ lhudê

Vois-tu s'il est sur la bonne voie

Have you seen if he is upon guidance

أَوَ اَمَرَ بِالتَّقْو۪ىٰٓۖ ﰋ

Awa mara bittaqwê

ou s'il ordonne la piété

Or enjoins righteousness

أَرَٰٓيْتَ إِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلّ۪ىٰٓ ﰌ

Arâyta in kadhdhaba watawallê

Vois-tu s'il dément et tourne le dos

Have you seen if he denies and turns away

أَلَمْ يَعْلَم بِأَنَّ اَ۬للَّهَ يَر۪ىٰۖ ﰍ

Alam ya‘lam bi'anna llâha yarê

Ne sait-il pas que vraiment Allah voit

Does he not know that Allah sees

كَلَّا لَئِن لَّمْ يَنتَهِ ﰎ

Kallâ la'il lam yantah

Mais non! S'il ne cesse pas, Nous le saisirons certes, par le toupet

No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock

لَنَسْفَعاَۢ بِالنَّاصِيَةِ ﰏ

Lanasfa‘am binnâsiyah

نَاصِيَةٖ كَٰذِبَةٍ خَاطِئَةٖۖ ﰐ

Nâsiyatin kâdhibatin khâtî'ah

le toupet d'un menteur, d'un pécheur

A lying, sinning forelock

فَلْيَدْعُ نَادِيَهُۥ ﰑ

Falyad‘u nâdiyahû

Qu'il appelle donc son assemblée

Then let him call his associates

سَنَدْعُ اُ۬لزَّبَانِيَةَۖ ﰒ

Sanad‘u zzabâniyah

Nous appellerons les gardiens [de l'Enfer]

We will call the angels of Hell

كَلَّا لَا تُطِعْهُ وَاسْجُدْ وَاقْتَرِبِۖ۩ ﰓ

Kallâ lâ tuti‘hu wasjud waqtarib

Non! Ne lui obéis pas; mais prosterne-toi et rapproche-toi

No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah]
